This place is the cleanest bowling alley and arcade I’ve ever seen. The music is a vibe. It’s also packed with fun stuff to do literally for all ages (my four year old daughter and husband were both equally entertained) plus great food and staff. I regret not checking this place out earlier.
This is a very busy and wonderful bowling alley. They have very knowledgeable staff and a very efficient process. There is a very large games room, two escape rooms, and a great Laser Tag room. They have a virtual reality area which seems super kewl, but havent played it. But everyone playing seems to be having a lot of fun! One of the games that stands out for me is 4 person Pac-Man! They also have a large screen Space Invaders. Their Sports Bar is also quite good! The All American burger is scrumptious! Pizza looks good, but I have not had it. The whole bowling alley is in great condition and modern looking. My kids Love coming here! Thank you so much for such a fun experience!
My review is only for the restaurant. If I could rate minus stars I would. I ordered a bowl of chili. It came out very cold. Not a problem I asked the server if she could have it heated. She took my bowl and then brought it back spilling a little on my table saying they could not warm it. She explained they made it fresh and could not microwave. I then stated again but its cold. She said she would check and have it discounted. I almost started laughing as I could not believe the conversation. So my chili is cold. They cant warm it or replace it with warm chili but they will discount it. I kept my cool and nicely told her I would not eat cold chili and I did not want it. I was then told she would check with a manager about getting it taken off my bill. Honestly I wanted to get out fast so I never even looked at the bill and just paid it. I did leave a tip but not the $25 I have been leaving for my servers over the past two years since covid. They may be rude and make you eat cold chili but I still leave a tip even if it is small. Yeah not like it will make my weekly stop. Only good thing is I have a lot of friends to share this story with.
If you want a Pittsburgh quality experience without having to deal with Pittsburghs distance and traffic, this is the place to go. Excellent food and specials that give you a reason to go there. This is much more than the 90s bowling experience the old location offered. Dont let this one go, Johnstown!
This place is a lot of fun and just what the area needed, great fun for the whole family. With a little bit of everything there should be something to keep everyone happy. Laser tag, virtual reality, escape room, bowling, video games with prize tickets to win prizes. Adult drinks and great food. Party rooms to rent. We will definitely be back to enjoy more fun and make memories
Was there today with some friends and we were at the ticket counter collecting our prizes ... There was a girl there asking the gentleman at the counter to check her tickets and how many she had, he told her one had zero and the other has a x amount. She was young and she didnt know he couldnt tell her how much credit was in the card, he proceeded to tell her, he couldnt check tell her that, again she asked him then he raised his voice is was like Girl you are asking me something I can not check for you. By this time I was very upset how this gentleman talked to her. I took her over to the machine and showed her how to check for credits.. but the very rude gentleman never once left her know where she could check for credits! We love it here but I will not stand for anyone being disrespectful to children. If he doesnt like children maybe he should find a new JOB!
This is the kind of place that every town has. The place that everyone -has- to have their birthday.Such was the case today. We took our son and he had a great time. Unfortunately his day was crushed soon after we arrived as I was there for one reason. Birthday? Not mine. Im here to crush dreams and earn more tickets than my own child and while he looks on with his meager earnings, I get the top shelf prizes. Dropping hundreds of dollars to get thousands of tickets to get prizes I could buy for 20% of the prize. All in an effort to relive the coolness of my youth. It didnt happen, but the staff was great and Paige was a lovely host.
I used to come here before it was 814 Lanes & Games. And while it was maintained better than some other bowling alleys, it was never really upgraded. Now, it is beautiful. Four private VIP lanes, plus 20 lanes open for league and public play. The old Foxs Pizza stand is gone, and now there is a full restaurant and bar. Burgers were out of this world! Plus updated arcade, escape rooms, laser tag, and VR games. Definitely a reason to take the family out, as there is something for everyone, and not just bowlers.
Foods not so great, app plater was 12 or $15 for a terrible amount of food, Dennys restaurant gives more. Also I brought in chip and salsa and I was told toctake it out, really, it was chip and salsa and we order beers, pizza and the classic app platter. Games for kids is expensive, well just continue to take our kids to slinky in altoona!
Hour and a half wait to order, we did have good enough entertainment watching tables get sat after us and get their food and almost out the door by the time our order was taken. I know, it sounds ridiculous and unlikely.Only saving grace was the arcade and VR. Definely go back for those, but I will make sure to eat ahead of time
I took my 10 and 5 year old here with some work friends. The kids had a blast with the arcade there. We played laser tag which you need 32 credits/person to play. My 5 yr old daughter wanted to play it. They didnt give her a vest to weigh her down so she was able to enjoy the game :) needless to say we enjoyed ourselves! The reason I gave 4 stars is because of the food and service. Others may have had a better experience but ours wasnt the best. My friends daughter received a somewhat burnt pizza that she ended up not eating. We were checked on once and not for a while so a few sat with empty glasses before refills were offered. This wasnt the only issue with the service, but Im going to end the feedback on the food and service provided since everyone has their off days. This couldve been one of them for our server. I will be recommending the games and fun to family and friends :)
Had a birthday party for our 9 yr old daughter. It was perfect and everything went great. Our hostess was wonderful with the kids and kept everything moving along. The pizza and cupcakes were delicious. One child couldn’t make it, so my husband and I used the credits to do the Virtual Game while the kids were in laser tag. If you get a chance to experience this….do it ! I grew up with Oregon Trail on a floppy disk lol…technology has come a long way !!! There weren’t any other parties going on, so they let us parents hang out in the room and have adult beverages. Our hostess even stuck around as our personal waitress….she got a nice tip ! The site mentions the latest you can have a party is from 3-5. We did the party on Friday and they worked with me on extending it to 4-6 since the kids don’t get out of school until after 3. This place was well worth the money spent. All in all, 5 stars from me !
Cool place to play some games and do some bowling! I didnt actually get to bowl but the lanes looked really nice and updated. The arcade games were a little pricey but pretty standard as far as arcades go. $20 later and we had enough tickets to get a nerds rope LOL but we had a great time nonetheless. Great place to bring friends or the whole family.
Completely Nailed it! Really impressed- the guys knocked it out of the park here. Spent 3 hours on a rainy Sunday doing two games of bowling with some time in the arcade with our kiddo. Got food while bowling- all was great. Quality was good and pricing was fair. Great experience all around. Walking outside afterwards took a minute to acclimate back to reality, it was such a nice reprieve from what has been a challenging year for everyone. A wonderful addition to Johnstown for families, will be back!
Didnt like how you had to prepay for bowling but the games were decent. Our ten year old was having a hard time bowling and we had to fight to get bumpers up. Food servers were great and food was delicious. Arcade was fine especially the VR section. Overall good experience. Everyone was nice and friendly except for the person in charge of bowling.
This is the second time I have been here, First time really good experience, we were the only ones here during the day. Great Food. Second time, this time 7 people, place isn’t really busy. Very out of whack service. Was told server will come to us with menu, after being here for 45 minutes at a lane, no menu had to ask for a menu again, order food and drinks. Food comes out in pieces, I mean when I go somewhere to eat I never had someone say I will bring your food out as it becomes available. Was asked only once if we needed anything else. Food is great, fries were cold but I could live with that. I think if the servers understood what it is to be a server I woulda gave it another star or 2. Spend 250 bucks somewhere, I woulda expected better service.
I came here for a birthday party and I was blown away with the interior.i used to come to this same building all the time when I was kid to go bowling with my friends. See how it looks now is amazing. And they updated it for the newer generations and older generations alike. It still has the bowling lanes with the same feel as it had years ago. But then that added VR, an escape room, and laser tag. The kid inside me wants to try it all. If only I had the time and money to do it all haha
The former Richland Lanes that underwent an extreme transformation. This family friendly location now offers 20+ lanes of real bowling, a massive redemption arcade with modern arcade games, laser tag, and a holodeck experience. This is the only place in the area you can bowl and relax on a couch between turns. The lanes are the original wooden lanes from Richland and are kept as best they can be for their age.Pricing is a bit on the upper end, but youre paying for the modern and very clean atmosphere. If you have 2 bowlers that bowl quickly, pay by the hour for a better deal. If your party is 3 or more, just pay by the game and relax. They also have a full size restaurant and bar. We had the pizza and it was excellent! I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of bowling alley food. They definitely know how to make good food.Overall we spent a good chunk of money but really enjoyed the experience. Id suggest looking online for deals and specials they offer to help cut the costs.
I remember the old richland lanes and compared to that. The changes that they have made are remarkable and will most likely bring some of my college friends there more often! Great job in making it more modern with a great food service as well! 10/10 would recommend and go there more!
I have heard people say 814 Lanes and Games is too good for Johnstown because of all the amenities there... Bowling, food/drinks, lasertag, escape rooms, and massive arcade games. Those people are wrong only because Johnstowners DO deserve such a great place! With wonderful and friendly staff, this place exemplifies Johnstown perfectly. Put a little effort into fixing up an old bowling alley, and you create a wonderful community amenity for all ages to enjoy! We took my brother for bowling since he had not visited Johnstown in years. He was floored by how great this place was. He suggested we go there the next time he is in town. Its a great location for entertaining everyone in the family.
I would love to give this place more stars but can’t. Although the bowling is good and arcade is satisfactory the restaurant side is what needs improvement. The first time we went service was horribly slow on a fairly slow service night. Then tonight we played a round of bowling with 4 people and within that 45minutes to an hour no server came and even asked us if we needed a drink. I even asked front desk staff before our round if I needed to get attention of server due to slow service last time. They told me server is assigned to lanes. Well the servers were non existent tonight. And this is after patiently waiting to get a lane in the first place. Now it’s 10pm our family is still hungry, incredibly thirsty and have to go somewhere else for food because weSimply were not willing to wait anymore. I’m disappointed for a second time that it was not a well rounded evening. Not sure if we will go for food anymore.
Had a small kids birthday party here. Alley was almost entirely empty on a Saturday afternoon which was great to allow kids to be kids without bothering serious players. The computer and ball return on our two lanes broke down at one point and staff reset them which was not a big deal for our group of casual players. Prices for bowling were decent but all other games seemed overpriced and we were disappointed to find that pool was $7 an hour. We got pizza from the Foxes location inside the alley which was great. Had a great time, would definitely return.
Today we had our sons 6th birthday party. The staff was outstanding from start to finish. They were polite courteous and helpful. They also support the military and were kind enough to offer a military discount. They were so nice and professional. I cant say enough good things about the business and staff. I highly recommend 814 lanes.
We went for a Birthday Party. What a great experience!!! The hostess was absolutely wonderful, food was fantastic, the pizza was phenomenal!!! Every worker was so polite and a smile on there face!! So much to do as well. We had a blast and we will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful visit and thank you for bringing 814 to Johnstown!!!
Escape room was poorly executed and staff was not attentive. It was the escape from cell block E. And when requesting clues the staff were unresponsive at times. And then would give us a clue we had figured out already. Also at one point a puzzle didnt work. And we tried to tell them it did nothing and after 4 or 5 minutes of doing the same thing it magically worked.
We really loved this place. It was our first visit and they just recently opened. The resturant has some great tasting classic foods with a modern twist. Nice variety of drinks including slushies for adults while you bowl or chase the kids around the arcade area. They have some really cool video games for all ages including a really cool RV set up. Everything in the place looks to be brand new. You wont be sorry you went.
The Food is Great, The steak wrap is very good, and there not skimpy with the Steak, The French fries were fresh, and crisp, Great with the beer cheese sauce,,, there pizza is better then the big chain restaurants, Service was good and the staff was friendly. Were definitely Going to be going back.
I strongly suggest against having a birthday party here... Staff was very unfriendly would not turn on all the arcade machines for kids. Wouldnt turn on the prize redeem machine for the kids to turn in their tickets. They tried to get us ton leave early than needed due to them closing *was on Sunday* the employees seemed to think it was fine to make about 7 kids upset and two whom were crying because they couldnt play or turn in tickets
Awful experience. The hostess at bites & brews was extremely rude. Its a shame that this place lost business because of one terrible employee. Maybe if the employees here were actually held accountable, they would be a little more cautious about the way they speak to customers.
We paid over $35 for 2 kids under 6 and 2 adults with no renting shoes for 2 games only!? I think that is a bit stiff. Anyway i dont recommend the place because it is old, it smells old and it is dirty and very unwelcoming stuck in time. They need to open a gofund me and renovate the place. It is the only place in the area to bowl.
Used to hang out here a ton when we were teenagers. Had a blast at rock n glow bowling almost every week with every lane packed. Went a couple weeks ago with the wife and friends and barely half the lanes were being used. I guess kids now just sit on their phones with their opioids.
First time here since it has been remodeled. The atmosphere is really nice. The numbers of lanes has been cut in half, but everything is much more modern. I thought it was weird that the scoring consoles have no chairs. Someone came and took a food order while I was bowling and brought it right to the lane. The pizza is actually really good. My kids played in the arcade and did the VR experience which they thought was a lot of fun. Overall, I think this is a fun place to hang out for any age group.
This place really impressed my husband and I (my husband is hard to impress). The staff were wonderful. Sydney our server made sure we had everything we needed and was very friendly. The food was AMAZING! The girls at the front desk were so helpful and very sweet. I told them it was our 1st time there and they offered us a tour. We didnt know how to work the bowling lane board and 2 workers came down to help us and explained how to work it. They also have a nice arcade. All the machines are working and light up nice. This is what Johnstown needed family fun with good food. I could go on and on about how happy I was with our experience!
This place is so poorly ran. I was here bowling and we had to wait almost 2 hours after our time that we were told that our lane would be ready. They also turned off our game in the middle of it and restarted it and we lost almost half a game because of the time that regular bowling closed.
The rebranding is awesome! Fits area well food is good maybe a but expensive for a bowling alley. Arcade has many games for all ages . Vr and laser tag for groups . Lanes are beat clean and well kept.will absolutely be returning and recommend this place for anyone looking for something to do 😊😊
The main staff are unbelievably rude. When I said we were going to have a group of 8, they insisted we would need to wait til all members of the group had arrived. We wanted 2 lanes but would have started with 1 so we could get bowling immediately. Unfortunately due to a mixup one of our friends was over an hour late. We kept asking them if we could please start bowling and were told no. Finally I told them they were being rude and we just wanted to get one lane started so that my friends with young children didnt have to stand around while the kids were getting more and more unhappy. Finally the desk guy blamed ME for not saying we just wanted to start with one lane earlier, even though wed said it repeatedly. Getting in an argument and wasting an hour of my life being told no was not how I wanted to remember my birthday.
First time impression was a 10 out of 10! We attended a birthday and the party was amazing even the adults and an amazing time! The virtual reality is hysterical! The games are for everyone of all ages, not just for the kids. The pizza we had at the party was delicious and the party planners kept ecerything running smoothly and our servers were attentive and wonderful! Bobby, the owner has out done himself! We had so much fun playing bumper bowling too. If you are not exhausted by the time you leave from having so much fun then something is definitely wrong!. We cant wait to go back!
Terrible customer service. Staff running around like chicken with their heads cut off. Horrible slushy flavors. And was refused a new flavor unless I paid. Bartender said he isnt allowed to do that... So I asked for a manager.... He went and I formed them.. I stood there 20 mins and no one came.. Very unprofessional... Also I called before coming and was told by by a girl that there were several lanes open.... I show up 5 mins later and a guy who Im pretty sure is the owner argued and said rudely that Noone would have said that was plain rude.. So until they can appreciate customers and get their customer service together I wont be returning
Shoes in mild condition, refuse to run card for under 10$, but insisted I must pay $5 for shoes before I pay for my games later... had to use the ATM with a big fee. No reason you couldnt pay for shoes with the lane. Racist staff member. Gave me a very hard time about getting a pool table with the cues that are so bent theyre unusable. Lanes and balls are in excellent condition, computer scoring, everything else sucks.
Had my sons’s 10th birthday party here last night. It was fantastic! Amanda and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to create the best experience we could’ve asked for. Everyone had fun with laser tag, VR and arcade. The pizza was delicious as well. We will definitely be having more parties here in the future!
It was a bit pricey to bowl, one game plus shoes for three people totaled around 20 dollars. I think Id rather play bowling on a street than have to get yelled at when returning my shoes because the people running the counter couldnt keep track of what was happening. Will not be returning.

2021-07-24We had a lot of fun with the family. We stayed in the arcade and did laser tag. So I cant comment on the escape rooms, which we do a lot of. The bowling alley looked very nice. The remodeling from the original Richland Lanes is amazing. The only part that bummed my 8 year old out was that the games he tried that were supposed to spit out tickets were not spitting out tickets. So we stuck to the virtual reality, laser tag, and the arcade games. We really did have a blast and next time were in the area from Pittsburgh are looking forward to going again. Especially if you add bowling into the mix it is a great way to spend a day of family fun in one place.

2022-01-23I attended an event here and they provided a private space with 4 lanes. Our party had a private server who was amazing! The facility was very clean. Bathrooms were clean. The bar/restaurant area was large and open making the view to the lanes easy to see. The arcade was spread out and looked good. Highly recommend checking this place out for family fun.

2021-11-07Updated inside. Good games to play like lazer tag and VR. Lanes are good. I had some food at the restaurant. Friendly staff. They need to run some ozone in there, a bit of an unpleasant smell to the place. Ill be back. Support local businesses. Bathroom was clean, always a plus.

2022-05-29Overall a very fun time. Servers were attentive for the most part and bowling is decently priced. However....the kitchen staff clearly did not care how the food they sent out looked. Ordered the cheese and bacon fries and got a pretty generous portion. However the cheese was on a very small corner of the plate along with the bacon. As a restaurant manager for over a decade, I would never send that out to a customer.

2022-03-11This place is pretty cool! Whether going to bowl, play games, eat ( or have a few adult beverages), all ages can have a good time here. I personally order takeout from their restaurant, Bites & Brews, fairly often. Everything from the menu, Ive had so far, was very good. The employees are very nice:)

2022-02-06Today I had my sons birthday party at the lanes. Wendy was our event organizer and she was phenomenal! She was very organized, took care of all 13 kids, she was wonderful. If you ever have a party request Wendy and tip her good! She deserves it. Thank you!!

2022-02-20Very entertaining, many things to do. Crowded depending on what day you go and what time of the day, but not too crowded that you cant enjoy yourself. The only thing is when we went to eat at the pub & grill, we did have to wait about an hour for our food, but we werent told this until we were waiting for 30 min already; and we had to ask about our order. It would have been nice to know that beforehand, especially when you have kids. But overall, the experience was great; I would definitely return and recommend to others.

2022-02-09Nice place to go and relax in the bar/dining area, or hit the lanes for a little ten pin. Ramp it up a few notches with the VR experience or just browse through the various games. Great place to spend an afternoon or evening. The staff are courteous and prompt with your orders. Overall, its a great place for all ages.
