ACME Markets in other cities:
Its a regular store with limited options on items, most of the stuff that I buy ( organic/gluten free/no artificial ingredients) arent found here. So I avoid going here often unless need to get something quick. slightly expensive compared to wegmans or giant which are not too far. Good for a quick run, also because of the extended hours.
My friends and I decided to go to a bakery for a sweet treat but they did not even have time for us for a 1.49 dollar cupcake. We went to service desk and no one said anything. The women was on break for over an hour and we waited the whole time. So disappointed and it’s unacceptable. No one come here plz!
I dont usually rate a grocery store, but something has to be said about this team. During the pandemic this place was the best run and best stocked store we visited (and we visited a few)! The place is just really well run, so well run that while other big name stores (both begin with a W) were shameful in comparison. I am not sure of the Managers name but he/she is doing a great job and obviously has a top notch over the bar we are killin it team! Shop here first, if they dont have it likely no one does.
Horrible Produce. Every single time it is always bad. Looks great in the store so I keep trying. No matter what it is, apples, bananas, strawberries, cucumbers, lettuce and so on. It must be where they get their deliveries and the temperature while it sits until it is put out. Giant, Wegmans, Whole Foods does not have this issue. Items are priced higher than other stores.
I have been going to acme markets since there has been super markets in Philadelphia. Acme has competitive products, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful employees and promotion. My personal favorite is the gasoline promotion, where you get up to $1.00 a gallon off the price.
I like Acme in Downingtown, so I decided to check this out. Never again. I was in isle 15, I think, looking for something. I obviously looked lost but the associate didnt care. She finally asks if I need help, I say yes then she gets angry. When Im returning items the woman ignored me at first then she proceeds to ask me if Ive opened them. Now how on earth would I return opened groceries and return them? Like I could devour half bag of white cheddar skinny popcorn and decided I want money back because Im stuffed? Pathetic. Will never come back here again.
This is a nice clean store.Unfortunately, their prices are high compared to the other grocery stores. And the produce did not look as fresh.I will probably only go back if there is a good sale on products I need or if it is an emergency (since this is the closest grocery store to me). Otherwise, I will make to longer drive to other stores.
This was my first time shopping here, as were new to the area and somehow settled on going to a nearby Giant. But this particular ACME has been nothing but a very pleasant surprise. They have a much larger selection of beers and wines, beautiful produce section and one thing that no Giant carries - Spectacular Ginger Ale (the best ginger ale there is!)Checkout was a breeze and parking lot is huge so youll always find a spot close by...Ill be back!
This was my 1st visit at this store and definitely be back.i stopped on the way to home to see whats special. This place has quality and fresh stuff around. I meant huge selection. The staff members also really friendly and helpful. I definitely be back whenever Ill get a chance .
I try not to leave bad reviews, but simply put - this place is gross. Old, expired food on the shelves and routinely dried out and crusty looking hot bar foods are the main culprits. Just purchased “fresh” seafood tonight, which when opened up at home, smelled awful and was partially inedible. I suspect that there are not enough customers (since it’s always sparsely patronized) to turn over the products quickly enough, and as a result they just put the same stuff out day after day. Never again. Go to Giant.
I shopped here for the first time last week. I will never go back in that store for anything. Everything and I mean everything is at least $0.50 more then other grocery shopping stores. A liter of soda almost $3The only thing that I can say good about the store is that it was organized. As it should have been not many customers and a lot of employees standing around doing nothing. I will remain a Giant shopper and never stepping back in that store again or any other Acme stores.
Its never terribly crowded. People are a bit in too much of a hurry but that seems to be the norm a lot elsewhere as well I suppose. The staff is friendly for the most part. The produce needs work. Never lasts more than a couple days. However their deals on meats are really good.
The major reason Acme is limited to 3 stars for me is the high, and in many cases unreasonably high prices. If the ownership decided to reduce prices in every department to compete with Giant, they would given 4 close to 5 stars. The produce, meat and deli are even better than Giant and the bakery superior. I even find Wegmans to be more cost effective. Unfortunately, I only go to Acme from time to time to take advantage of a good sale or for one of their bakery cakes for an occasion. If you like whipped topping, then they have your sweets. They advertise that theyve brought prices down, but not enough- at least in the products I buy.
Its a fine grocery, I personally like the seafood section they have the best, there is a good wide variety of frozen and fresh seafood as well as the fresh meats department is also nice. They prices are slightly higher then I would prefer so mostly I go to Walmart and the same products for less but if Im in the mood for some seafood or fresh meats I go here for that.
I think I’ll be making the trip to Giant next time after getting blasted at by a cashier, Amy. She accused me of “cutting the line” after a gentleman allowed me to get in front of him since I only had 1 item to check-out. She was incredibly juvenile and wouldn’t proceed until I was at the very back of the line. If only Amy paid this much attention to ringing customers up quickly and efficiently, she wouldn’t have to take her frustration out on customers.
If you want to visit a Grocery Store that makes you keep returning on a daily basis due to a marketing technique they have incorporated from their corporate headquarters ACME is your place. Acme will limit you on all kinds of items depending on what they can think of at the corporate think tank. Been visiting the Eagle store since it was built. All started with this Covid back in the beginning of the year. Limits included during the year simple items like;1 gallon of water, 1 roll of toilet tissue, 1 roll of paper towel, 1 germ disinfectant, 1 pack of beef, 1 pack of chicken, 1 vegetable, list goes on and on. What is coming is a control that ACME will put on the population and limiting 1 item per customer. I can see in the not to distant future a sign outside the ACME store stating this. Idea behind this is getting us back EVERYDAY to buy the 1 item we need and oh, since I am here in the store lets get this too. What a fantastic idea ACME has come up with and we can blame it on the covid virus.Reason I wrote this today is I have had enough talk of the Covid blame. Visited the Eagle Pa ACME today, bought 2 salt containers and 1 glass cleaner and 1 multi surface cleaner. Clerk told me I have to choose, glass cleaner or surface cleaner due to Covid. I couldnt believe it, told me many items in the store are limited to 1.Called the store manager, found out he is a typical corporate, told me he has to worry about his inventory and other stores too. I ask him why is it that Rite Aid and Walmart in Morgantown can sell more than 1? I got the typical, I am being instructed from Corporate this is what we enforce due to Covid. Well in summary if you like to visit ACME on a daily basis to buy 1 today and 1 tomorrow and 1 the next day and buy other items since ACME got you back in the store with this ACME think tank strategy. What a crime a BIG Company like ACME cannot keep enough inventory in their stores OR is it that the ACME think tank control is working for them and their shareholders. Oh also, there is NO sign entering the store telling us what products are limited.I do visit Whole Foods in Exton, Pa, super clean, helpful employees, fantastic items though out the store and guess what, no limiting signs on items! Yes it is more expensive BUT I can visit the ONCE and get what we need. No need to come back on a daily basis like ACME.If you like to be controlled, ACME is your store. This is just the beginning of corporate control of the population needs of our households. Luckily I live in a country where I have freedom to go to what store I choose, you should too!Edward K. Employees are very arrogant, the store wont price match even thou same items are sold at nearby stores much cheaper. Always long lines. always get lost inside the store. Closed the bank which was convenient to many customers to replace it with a bar. Management needs to reexamine their protocols.
On our way from Lancaster to Philadelphia my college student announced that she forgot to pick up groceries. So we detoured to this Acme conveniently off the Turnpike. I was VERY pleased with the cleanliness and variety of products. We love the deli, fresh made sandwiches and baked goods. The prouduce is very fresh. We make this a routine stop on the way into Philly now. Take the time to look at the unique products they have in stock!
Acme in recent years, is known for improper pricing and bait and switch tactics. The end caps will have a big sign for a product price, but only one shelf will have the product of the proper size to get that price. The Acme near us has the highest prices for beer, but they are very convenient, so they can get away with it. What I don’t like is when they put a price on something, and then charge you a higher price. We mentioned to the guy the price on the shelf, he just look at us and told us the total.
I am not a fan of Acme - its dimly lit and overpriced. But two of the people at this location are so friendly, helpful and conversational everytime we go here - Joe & an older woman that usually works at night (blondish gray hair). These two are fantastic - definitely the reason my husband and I go back.
I save a lot of money here, but last night they had Santa Fe Turkey Breast in the deli priced at $1.09, and I thought that was a crazy awesome deal so I ordered 2 lbs. When I saw the price that printed out it said $10.99, and I told the woman at the deli what the price tag in the case said. Everyone else at the deli saw the price, and agreed that I should be charged the $1.09 (at least 5 people). It wasnt my fault they made that mistake. The woman proceeded to whisper/call me to the counter, and tell me that she didnt know if she was allowed to give me the discount, but that she would for 1lb of the turkey i ordered. And that if I came back to the counter ....(like it was my fault, and was that a threat?) She should have honored the whole order, and just screw her for making me feel like it was my fault for their mess up. Jerk!
They have a bread aisle...but if you need rolls--thats a TOTAL SCAVENGER HUNT!! THE ROLLS ARE PEPPERED ALL OVER THE STORE!! (Maiers Rolls--no can do!) And Coca-Cola 12-ok?? Display sign reads 4/$10--flyer coupon is for $2/(4) 12pks!! But even the coupon is screwed up b/c it only took off $2 on the 1st 12pk--the other (3) were ALL $6.99 each!! So, I watched my TOTAL DUE spring UP to $28 then DOWN to $26--then I had to go get the Self Checkout Little Boy!! Took him a minute, but be got the TOTAL DUE busted down to $10.60 :)Wooooooohooooooooo!!!I got (4) 12pks (or (2) CASES) for $10.60!!!! Basically---thats LESS THAN 25 cents/ can!!!!!HAPPY ACME SHOPPING!!!!!
Terrible Place to Shop & Work at! When youre told to clean up a floor, Bathroom or something else they wont give u materials. They didnt give me Materials to clean up Feces all over the Bathroom so I quit. The managers are very irritating and rude to customers as well.

After trying to look for it in my car for 20 mins I called the store and the said one of the employees bringing the in the carts found it and turned it in cash and all. Im very thankful to the employees for being so trustworthy I will shop there more often.🙏

2022-01-24It is very convenient location and reasonable prices. Recent days I see some of the dairy items are always out of stock. Not sure if the situation will improve in future. Thats why I am giving 4 stars otherwise 5 stars.

2022-01-26I guess this is being almost 40…writing reviews of grocery stores. However, of all of those in exton and downingtown, this acme is really my favorite. Others definitely have more organic stuff, or more premium food, but the staff here are amazing, the prices are good and the store is always clean. It won’t be the only grocery store I use, but I’ll enjoy shopping here.
