Ive been buying products from Black and Nobel for the past 2 years. The sea moss gel is always very clean, and this was very important to me. I began trying other products, and now I only shop for my pure products here. Love this place!
I pulled up on this shop while visiting family and friends in Philly. This small shop hits hard with an extensive variety of soaps, balms, butters, oils, incense, books, crystals, etc. all with respectable price points. In fact, I was impressed!I purchased body oil and sea moss soaps. The owner, Hakim was friendly and knowledgeable. He offered recommendations.I did not give five stars because I did not like the incense selection. I most definitely think there there are some opportunities to improve the incense. I purchased the sea moss beard glaze as well as the beard bath several months ago. The store employee was very helpful and profesional over the phone. The employee walked my items outside to my car and thanked me for my business.

Love the new location. Black and Nobel are well known for bringing literature and learning to underprivileged persons, mostly in the prison system and Philadelphia counties. Their contribution to society ranges from education to healthy products. Black and Noble is a needed vessel for the people.
Very happy this bookstore moved to a great location. I found what I was looking for and more. Great selection and thry order too. Definitely will visit again and will bring friends every visit.
I’ve been wanting to visit this bookstore for a while and found my way here after some much needed inspiration. They are at a different location across the street, yet as soon as I walked in, I felt at home. They took the time to give me an overview of their products and answered all of my questions. I literally could have spent hours there in the book section. Thank you so much for lifting my spirit. I am also loving my Sea Gold lotion & soursop tea :)

Was recommended by a friend to start shopping here instead of a previous shop , long story short ordered few products they didn’t have something I wanted so they gave me something they suggested plus an extra free item which I thought was really nice & I love everything I purchased .. I stumbled across the Black and Noble website this morning looking for Sea Moss Gel. I reached out and spoke with Monk who was amazing! He offered curbside pick up. I opted to visit the store instead. They have an AWESOME array of sea moss among other things. I purchased the Sea Moss Gold Gel and was not disappointed. Going forward I will be ordering the Sea Moss Gold in bulk from them when available and blending my own not to mention Ill be coming back to browse the other products offered. So excited to patronize a Black Owned and Operated Business!!
I’ve had nothing but positive experiences when ordering online from B&N ! I live in Maryland, so my orders always come fast since they’re located in Philly. I always purchase sea moss gel from here and it never disappoints! I love the variety of seamoss they offer amongst having new health and wellness items every time I visit the site. On top of that they’re black owned business.
Even though I did my shopping during the pandemic everything was very easily accessible through the website. Instead of having to wait for a mail ordered delivery I was able to do a curbside pick that day. Which was perfect because I was so anxious to try my new products. Again even with pandemic and having to practice social distancing the customer service was awesome. Thank you for the experience and I can’t wait to make future purchases.
After placing my order I received a complimentary text and email. Shipping was extremely FAST! My order was delivered the next day. Thats quicker than Amazon Prime. The book and sea moss arrived in excellent shape. I gave 4 stars because I would have like to see more sea moss or at least a smaller packaging so its not as much open space. Besides that, I will definitely be ordering from Black and Nobel again. Oh, and I love that they have natural toothpaste and deodorant

From the energy the owner gives to the products he sells, this is a phenomenal business! Promoting health with traditional herbs and medicines it feels amazing to be able to go into this store and learn about how I can be in control of the health of my body. Prices are great and the quality of items are always superb. I recommend getting the sea moss gel to have most of the minerals your body needs as well as the sea moss soap for topical usage. I also love the healing book collection and the oils such as the black seed and pure essential oils. From shea butters, to natural shampoos, conditioners, juices to cleanses, they have it all! It’s truly a pleasant experience!

Called to confirm and order, they answered on the first call and I didn’t have to wait on an automated service(First plus in my mind) Spoke to the store owner personally(Another Plus) and he not only remembered my order but had personally packaged and shipped it himself( Super plus ) All in All - Black Business Done right so far!!Will up date y’all when the products get here and let you all what’s to the delivery time, presentation, and quality of the products👌🏾Update- they on one! Loved every product. That sea moss gold sumn magical too I ate it raw with a fruit salad daily for a week and felt like a new man! Black & Nobel has a variety of things they offer you, from literature, health care items, too healing ointments. I love their products, mainly their Sea Moss, and their Aches & Pain Body & Massage Oil. Their prices are reasonable and they give you a nice portion.

New to the area just stopped in to look around. Everyone was very friendly and they knew their product very well. I got a soap and its lovely.
While I understand the concept of small business, and want to support black owned businesses, their merchandise is severely overpriced. I wont be buying from this store again. The man I dealt with seems to be capitalizing on the fact that many black people are starting to understand the importance of keeping our dollars in the community. Now he wants to overcharge and insult our intelligence in the process. The two stars are for the fact that in making my purchases, he caught his error in almost charging my credit card twice.
Went in to purchase Sea Moss at the suggestion of a loved one and was gifted with a bar of sea moss soap to try at my leisure. Great way to keep a woman such as myself coming in. Because its a pop up store, you need to ask for the Black and Nobel store (which is located on the left side of the building, way in the back). Just be sure to ask someone if you arent too sure that youre in the right place.
I went there and picked up my sea moss. Ill let you know about that at a later time, but I wanted something to eat. On the weekends they have food available. I had the most delicious, moist and flavorful meatloaf I have ever had. Yummy!!
I called and checked their voicemail before visiting. They never mentioned they were doing curbside service only due to COVID. I found this out upon arrival. I was visiting from NYC and staying with a friend who recently relocated to Philly. It was annoying and a waste of cab fare. I went the weekend before Thanksgiving.

They moved directly across the street from their old location, on the second floor, the entrance is in the alley directly across the street from the old location on the right hand side of the street. Very cramped space but I didnt care I needed my Sea Moss in a hurry....still good people and very polite
Spoke to Hakim to regarding my order of seamoss. There was a discrepancy and he took care of me with class and professionalism. I appreciate the great work he does in the community and for people all over the world. They also have an app that you can order products with seamlessly and also accrues points for further purchases.

Im so angry the original bookstore is gone. It is now a book case inside a clothing store. I wanted AA fiction books and I didnt see any. Although there are plenty of books concerning our health. Im sorry I couldnt visit their AA bookstore.
This Black Owned Book Store has not only books, but also natural products like soap, lotions, and much more... they also host many upcoming artist! Such an amazing costumer service and they ship to prisons!!!

I have never been to this store, but am looking forward to visiting in July to support a brother who has been selling books from this store. He has a speaking event at Black and Nobel. I again plan to attend that speaking and check out first hand what the store has to offer to me.

I imagine their customer service is better when youre able to physically walk into the store and pick out what you want, I give them the full benefit of doubt in that regard, however, I live in NJ.After watching part of a seminar on YouTube some weeks prior to finally receiving it in its complete DVD form, a friend put in the order for us. Mind you its 2014 and this company seems to have no sign of a functional website or online presence. We tried at my home then gave up, I actually have no idea how he managed to finally put in the order, but he did.After a week or so, wondering where the DVD was, we called the store, and actually got an answering machine. No, we did not leave a message because the machine was full.At this point if you are still reading you should know better than to waste your time dealing with this business. I order plenty of books from Amazon, if I dont like Barnes and Nobles prices, and my books are shipped free to me and are in my possession in 2-3 days tops. Whoever is in charge of this establishment has no clue what theyre doing, much less how much better they could be doing if they understood the most basic concepts of customer service. Needless to say, unless some drastic/swift changes take place Im more than happy to take my business and spend money they obviously dont need elsewhere.

As well as the other vendors with their variation of assortments of unique gifts and original name brands clothing from the original designers, and classic books, gift items etc.You got to check out brother Hakim new location on when I visited on Sunday two days after their grand opening which was Friday the 1th of October, they were so busy I could not get in the store!
I purchased two books from them in May 2015 and its now August 2015 and I have yet to receive my product. Ive attempted to contact them on several occasions and no answer. Please dont waste your time or money with this company. If I could rate it 0 stars I wouldve done that instead of 1.

I purchased books and dvds that I never got , I could never reach anyone, the phone just rings and rings! When I actually spoke with someone it did not help because I still never received the items! Even after I disputed the claims No One ever Contacted me! IT WAS SO DISAPPOINTING!! I REALLY WANTED THIS TO WORK! I WANTED TO SUPPORT THE MOVEMENT! SAD SAD SAD!!

I am very unsatisfied with the treatment of the performers at the events here. It is disappointing when you come from a different state to see a venue which a family member was to be involved in, never get the chance to go because they decided to constantly withhold his performance. This was after he paid, he received no refund. Absolutely disrespectful.

2022-02-25Good Evening Google Family! I was excited about visiting Black and Nobel, after my sister friend, Cara told me about it. I inquired of a place where a seamstress could sew my original design T-shirt. Then Cara told me about Black and Nobel. I had heard of it before. I had seen it in a newspaper advertising the products and I knew it identified as black-owned and woman led. I took my shirt with me and showed it to Margo, the owner. I am following her on Instagram. I had called her prior to my visit. I found her on Google and also Cara gave me her phone number. I wasnt thrilled about venturing to South Street because of the dreadful parking situation. I was pleasantly surprised that they now have zone labels. I was so happy because I could use my Meter app and would not have to worry about the meter maid giving me a ticket. The Meter App is a godsend!! If you are not using it, then you should. I highly recommend it!! I parked in the Zone separation, but before that I had gone to 411 South Street, and Margo informed me that they ship out of that location. The shop is located at 422 South Street. Anyway, I was pleasantly delighted by Margos shop and I asked if I could snap photos. Margo pleasantly obliged and I snapped away. I explained to Margo that I was a Goggle guide and I have been reviewing places for a minute. Margos shop is full of soaps, products for the hair and skin care products. Margo also has books for sale. I showed Margo the shirt and she said she knew someone who does make clothes and she was going to get in touch with them for me.. I bought a container of organic garlic oil and ginger with onion extracts for grow and edge treatment pomade. I paid $8.26 for the oil. See enclosed for photo. I am hoping that we stay in touch. Margo had a small truck outside with her store name on it. Margo is a very unique individual. I can tell that she is passionate about her business and uses the tools that are available to her. A great visit experience. I will return and tell a friend or two.

2021-12-14Been here twice now and both times were delightful. So happy to have an affordable, family-owned, all-natural cosmetics spot to visit in Philly. Their marketing is great - glancing in at all the vibrantly colored bottles is what drew me in the first time, shortly before one of the owners who saw me looking greeted us with a “come on in hun, everything is all natural!” The whole family is very welcoming and helpful. It’s also super cool that they sell books and handmade jewelry too. I hope eventually they can expand their skincare inventory to include facial products as well, even though some of their products you can use on your face. Shea butter, which is in most (if not all) of their creams, can break some people out so I haven’t used anything on my face. I hope eventually they can start getting in some non-shea butter products specifically for the face, maybe some jojoba or hemp seed moisturizers & such. But overall it’s really a neat spot. Products are affordable and great quality. I’m finding that they last me a long time for what I pay for them. Really looking forward to stopping in here each time I’m in the area.

Great skin care, and health & wellness products. When I run out of items at home, I dont hesitate to make the hour and a half drive from Jersey to restock.🥇
