I can not explain how great!!!!!! 10 stars all day. Everyone was so so nice. Took my order 3 days prior to my party and absolutely ACED the Elmo cake!! They treated us like family, was a great great experience. Thank you guys and girls for everything I will always come to you and recommend you guys. Oh btw that cake is delicious also.
The baked goods are delicious, beautiful, & creative, and the ice cream parlor is wonderful. Today I bought dozens of Fasnachts for friends and they were a huge hit! What is also worth expressing is that the staff is really impressive - friendly, professional, efficient, and welcoming!
I ordered 350 cupcakes for a student event last night and they were all delicious and beautifully decorated. It was a “winter wonderland” theme so I asked for light blue icing and sparkles. Just what I was expecting! Everyone loved them!
We got our wedding cake from here and it was incredible! We get so many compliments on how delicious it was! I 1000000% recommended this bakery! They were incredibly helpful and friendly! Such a great experience!
Went here today to do cake testing for my upcoming wedding. The samples were delicious and the staff was very nice and professional. She answered all of our questions and was very helpful with designing our cake.I will definitely be back to try some of the other bake products they offer in the future.I highly recommend checking this place out...A+
Bredenbecks is our go to and the best bakery around. They did my wedding cake, cakes and treats for wedding showers, baby showers, and birthday parties. They even made the cutest little cake and cupcakes for us when we were getting ready for the wedding. We wouldn’t go anywhere else!!
Best cakes and treats in the Philly area! Bredenbeck’s made my wedding cake and several custom cakes throughout the years. The cakes are always delicious, beautiful, and reasonably priced. Would never get a cake anywhere else!
Someone posted that they offer sugar free cakes ... we just called ... and they do not! So that is the only reason I am giving them a one star ... just for the false advertising! They still get a five star rating for sugar desserts!
I’m beyond disappointed in the cake my husband just picked up. They asked me to send photos and links of what i wanted and i sent them and it’s absolutely not even close in color. This looks like a boy cake my daughter will be 2 years old and we are celebrating tomorrow and it goes with nothing at all. The color is a simple sky blue where do you get a dark blue color from. They ask my husband to take a $10 store credit. What is that going to do? Also they said it was the same it absolutely isn’t. I would never by dark color cakes for my daughters party. The sorry was like an oh well. My husband unfortunately went to pick up and just didn’t want a problem and took it instead of leaving it since it’s useless to me. Smh
I was online searching for a good bakery, I was excited to try this bakery because of how pretty the website was and the good reviews. “FRAUD” if you like moist tasty cupcakes go somewhere else. My advice is to buy 1 cupcake, taste it in the store before purchasing more. I waited 20mins, and ordered $50 worth of pastries. 2 items worth giving credit to was the pound cake and sticky bun. Now let’s get to why I would never come back, I ordered 5 different cupcakes, they were so dry and flavorless. Box cake mix taste better than all of those cupcakes.**Beware don’t get fooled by reviews and how cute and tasty the cupcakes look. I’m renaming them to “Taste B4 Buying Bakery”
Bredenbecks was the bakery we used for our wedding cake. We are not exaggerating it was the best cake we have ever had! They made our cake look so beautiful. The decorators have so much talent, and can practically decorate anything you want on the cake. We got so many compliments on the cake look and taste. They also do a complimentary anniversary topper made fresh a year later, which is awesome! Definitely go with them for your wedding cake! (photography Vasaturo Still and Motion)
We had never been to Bredenbecks Bakery before, but they were recommended by our venue so we set up a meeting with them to talk wedding cake! We had to reschedule our initial appt and they were very accommodating and understanding. We worked with Dana to discuss cake design and were sent home with a tasting for Covid reasons, which we understood! We also received a coupon for the bakeshop so we picked up some extra goodies while we were there (and everything was amazing.)All of the tastings were for different flavored pound cakes (they use that for all their tiered cakes) and they were ALL delicious. I fully expected to go with just plain or chocolate chip but we were SO impressed with the flavors we couldnt even choose 1, so we went with Rose and Lemon flavors for our tiers. They were so good. Handling billing and details was super simple with Dana through email and on the day of the cake was delivered before we even arrived and we didnt have to think a thing about it. It was even more beautiful than I thought it could be. So many of our guests complimented it and couldnt stop raving over how good it was! We had a little left over and made the rounds the day after the wedding so everyone could have some to save, even though we really wanted to keep it for ourselves! I would 100% recommend Bredenbecks and will be ordering again!

Bredenbecks has the best options for wedding cakes. Not only do their cakes taste amazing but their design ! I had so many people come up during my wedding saying how beautiful the cake was ! Everyone I talked to here had been so helpful and were so nice to talk to ! I honestly think that Bredenbecks is the best option for an amazing wedding cake for a beautiful design and the price was perfect ! Thank you so much !
My wife saw a beautiful cake on their website and ordered it for Moms 90th birthday today! Unfortunately, the communication with the order resulted in a 7 inch cake instead of a 12 inch cake. As a result, the customer was not satisfied in spite of the honest efforts by Bredenbecks to approximate the larger cake in the smaller size. Nevertheless, Mom loved the cake. Just remember to clarify the size of any cake that you order. In some instances, size does matter. 😷🤔🙏
On the recommendation of a co-worker, I ordered a strawberry shortcake birthday cake for my sons 19th birthday. THIS CAKE WAS ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS AND BEYOND DELICIOUS! 🥰💖👌🏾💥I highly recommend Bredenbecks Bakery for all your special occasions, or just because you want a luxurious dessert treat! 😊
Bredenbecks made our cake for our wedding on June 13, 2021. It turned out beautifully and was exactly what we wanted! We had a great tasting and consultation experience. We really enjoyed our samples that we got to take home (due to Covid-19 we couldnt do our tasting in the store). They had tons of photo examples and ideas to help us design our wedding cake. They even drew up a sketch of what our cake would look like and sent it to us to review! Bredenbecks is very professional and responsive, and the cake was delicious. We highly recommend them!
Beautiful high quality (and most importantly) delicious local bakery. Walking the hill up and down after Thanksgiving, we stopped in three local bakeries to sample the goods, and this was BY FAR the freshest and most tasty. The cookie designs and icing are done by real artisans. Local family that lives here buy all their special occasion cakes from this place. Bottom line this is THE bakery for this area..... that said, you do pay for the quality here - royal fancy iced cookies $4.95 EACH and bulk sprinkle cut sugar cookies $0.60 each.
This is a tiny little place with barely enough room to two people to stand side by side. However, they offer a nice assortment of baked treats, ice cream, and coffee. Delicious ice cream in the welcoming homey atmosphere. Super friendly staff. The guy offered me a free croissant the first time I went there when i told him this is my first time here!! So nice of him.
Absolutely 5-stars! It all started with Dana. She was a gem to work with and was able to easily communicate our vision with the magic makers. Our wedding was at a Zoo, so we wanted a “white birch” cake to match the semi-rustic theme. It by far exceeded our expectations. There was some concern on the detail since we didn’t want a drop of fondant, and butter cream is not nearly as easy to design with. I don’t know how they did it, but the cake came out amazing. Not only did it look amazing, it tasted amazing! Our guests were complimenting us for months after the wedding on how good the cake was. We can’t thank the Bredenbecks Team enough!
Everyone loved our cake, we chose the Raspberry Swirl pound cake with Vanilla Buttercream icing and the cake was purely divine! A unique choice, but it had everyone wanting another slice.
Supper disappointed the best thing about all six of my cupcakes was the icing. They look pretty but all of my cupcakes were supper dry and dense. I’m use to moist goodness. For $3 a dry cupcake I could have just purchased cupcakes from giant…. Not sure what everyone els was eating but this was not it. Guess I’m back to the hunt.
What a great place! It was my friends birthday and I wanted to do something special for her so I called Bredenbecks and asked if they could pick out some items for my friend who lives in Chestnut Hill and she would pick them up. I told them what I would like to spend and paid them over the phone. Kim was fantastic in boxing up some nice individual treats. She even put a ribbon around the box. Thank you Kim for making my friends birthday even more special! PS.. My friend said the treats were amazingly delicious.
For my best friend’s birthday I ordered customized cookies, so happy with the results! And they were so kind and helpful through the creative process. Not pricy.The cookies turned out amazing and taste absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.

We wanted a galaxy themed cake, and not only were the excited from the start to create our ideas, they made the experience easy, fun, and delicious!Our guests are STILL raving about our cake two months later! In a past life, I used to go to Bredenbecks twice (sometimes three times) weekly to buy a three row of raisin covered sticky buns. Years later they remain on the higher end of the best sticky buns I have ever eaten, heated with melted butter dripping all over them. Besides their wonderful taste, they have the quality of being heavy. They are more dense then sticky bums I buy from other places. This is a good thing apparently as they are more filling than other sticky buns I eat.Now I only go on rare occasion due to my self imposed health policy that prevents me from eating things like sticky buns regularly any more. Today I had a rare urge to buy a donut and they were only blocks away from where I was. Their donut selection leaves many things to be desired, but they have jelly donuts I like and I brought one.....at a price of $1.60! It was good, but not $1.60 good. If not for going where I could get a comparable tasting jelly donut for only .90 cents being very inconvenient to places I had to be, I would have canceled the purchase.I can only say good things about Bredenbecks baked goodies, but their prices have really gone Chestnut Hill, where they are located in the city. They have never been cheap, but now I find their prices, er...ambitious. Always nice that the young ladies (during the week anyway) who serves up the orders delivers pleasant customer experiences. Not an attitude among the bunch.I will still make my rare triple sticky bun purchase. Which they only make available on weekends these days I was informed today. But moving forward I will check all urges to pay $1.60 for a single donut there.

For the first time I bought cake for my son’s birthday from this place, cake is not at all like the picture I sent to them and way more expensive for such a small cake. They are also rude over phone while taking orders. Very disappointed.

Bredenbecks made us an unbelievably beautiful (and delicious!) wedding cake. Excellent customer service in the lead up to the date and very reasonable pricing. Also, the cake tasting is a ton of fun, but absolutely do not skip the ice cream shop when you stop by!
Bredenbecks is the best bakery/ ice cream parlor ever! Not only does it have the best strawberry shortcake in the world (I highly recommend) it also has the best ice cream. Not to mention the display case in the front is always bringing a smile to my face.

😍🥰🤩 they have so many amazing things to choose from. I dont give 5 stars often but I am almost obligated to do so. I was in search of a frozen treat and went to 1 place before here who happened to be closed. They told me they open at 12. So I get to Bredenbecks and they also say the ice cream parlor sexton isnt open until 12, BUT we can get you ice cream still. That was some serious ❤ love! Then they had so many treats to pick from in the bakery. Overall very good experience for my first time here. I now understand why the lines always look ridiculous, its worth the wait.
Bredenbeck’s fulfilled my wedding cake dreams! They hosted us in their sweet shop in Chestnut Hill. We are big cake people (birthday cake all the way), but we fell in love with their yellow cake with salted caramel frosting. While we were sampling, our designer was able to sketch the perfect design for us - simple and elegant. We were also able to make each layer different, allowing a double chocolate layer preferred by my mother. Everyone at the wedding raved about the cake and the salted caramel and the others had all of their chocolate fantasies become a reality. Bredenbecks was a fabulous choice and I can’t wait to use them again for anniversary cakes!
Bredenbecks Bakery was absolutely amazing! Service for our wedding cake planning was above and beyond. Our pumpkin wedding cake for our Fall wedding was phenomenal and our guests loved it! HIGHLY recommend!
My very first experience was spectacular. Got my wedding cake and 1 anniversary cake from here. Not only were the cakes beautiful but they were delicious. Now we have my 3rd trip . I sent a picture describing what I wanted I even spoke with some to confirm everything. Today I pick up my cake and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Not only did the cake not look like I asked it was plain . I asked to have it fixed I even showed the picture again and still no real change . This time is my last time . First cake is what I asked for second cake is what I got .
This place is phenomenal. I had a last minute order I needed for the weekend I sent them a picture but they said they could not make this cake on such short notice However they were able to make a flat sheet cake that resembles it. The cake was beautiful and it was a hit at the party everyone loved it. The cake was really good. Thank you so much and I will be back.

I ordered cupcakes and cookies for my daughter birthday. Went to pick them up, cupcakes weren’t even what I order. Yes they made more and delivered them to the party, I just felt an “oh well” type of feeling. For what I paid, I expected a little more from a business.
I was disappointed with the items I purchased! I purchased a slice of strawberry shortcake and a strawberry shortcake sundae and it wasn’t fresh. The cake in the sundae wasn’t either. It was around noon so maybe that was the problem, if so it’s not a good idea to sell certain products after a certain time.
Obviously we love Bredenbeck’s. The staff, the ice cream, and the pastries are ALWAYS on point. Fort daughters birthday we ordered a custom cake and it was literally the most delicious cake I have ever eaten in my life. If you are thinking about ordering any sort of pastry from them run order now!! The staff is super responsive and a very kind! Made my daughters dream birthday cake come true without hesitation.We’re 100% satisfied and will be ordering EVERY cake from there in the future.
So many good options! My favorite is their guatemalan ripple ice cream, but their raspberry sorbet is also a great crowd pleaser. Aside from their ice cream, I’ve had their pies, cakes, and cookies, and all were fresh and balanced. There’s always a line out the door, so be prepared to wait!
I gave them 3 stars because the cake was moist and flavorful, but dense. First time here. Probably wont come back. The customer service was lacking and theyre expensive. A quarter slice of cake was $2. Also, they only have metered street parking and theyre on a very busy street.
From the outside this place is very cute. It looks like an old fashion bakery inside. I went for the ice cream. I had the mint chocolate chip. It was very good. Everything looks fresh here. The service was good.
We often get our celebration cakes here as they are delicious and beautiful. I am always impressed with the kind service offered inside as well. Today there was a line outside waiting to pick out treats since only a limited number of people can be in the store at once. A manager came out to check if there was anyone in line just needing to pick up an order so they could help us without going inside. Since that was me, they were able to bring out my order and take my payment from the side door and saved me a wait in line. That was very thoughtful to find those efficiencies for people. With the taste and the service, its no surprise folks will put in the extra COVID wait in line to get their goodies.
I have worked with Bredenbecks Bakery over the last few years photographing their amazing cakes that my clients ordered for their wedding day. It was a no brainer when I became engaged, I wanted to use Bredenbecks as well! It was even better that they partnered with our venue, The Manor House at Prophecy Creek Park. From the beginning, Jake and his staff was accommodating, responsive, kind and genuinely excited to help design our wedding cake. We had SO much fun at our tasting and he really took the time to create my vision into reality. We unfortunately had to postpone our wedding from April to August 2020, and they made the processes seamless. Our guests RAVED about our wedding cake with not only the design, but on how good the cake tasted too. It truly was a show stopper and exceeded all of our expectations. Thank you Bredenbecks for a wonderful experience and we look forward to using your bakery again!

Great place to get some ice cream. Nice selection of flavors and cones. Staff is friendly and responsive. COVID-19 protocols are in place so only four persons are able to go in at a time. Well done and quick.

I like that they adhere to occupancy limits in the shop and everyone in line appears to be chill about it.They now have a takeout window on the side of the building that you can go to if you know EXACTLY what you want.I, unfortunately, have to go inside to look at everything even though all the flavors are written out on the board by the front 🚪.Yup, reading is fundamental! 😀
Cupcakes were horrible flavorless and hard never again $20 for 6 cupcakes down the drain...
So disappointing! NOT RECOMMENDED...We asked specifically for buttercream icing. We were told it was buttercream, but when we served it, it clearly was a cheap, gritty frosting...The thing is we were happy to pay for extra for real buttercream! Why lie to your customers. Then I was told something had a ganache icing that obviously did NOT. Save yourself the embarrassment...dont misrepresent your products and maybe you might want to educate your staff on what is what. Descriptive words actually do have very specific meanings...thats why we use them.If that wasnt bad enough the service was inconsistent. The kids in front of me were served their ice cream from the bakery side, but when another couple asked for bakery and ice cream items, the staff made one of the people go to the outside ice cream window and wait in line all over again. Terrible service; what a lack of business sense and integrity...
I was very disappointed in this orderNormally they do a phenomenal job I’ve spent thousands over the years with them and I have never been disappointed till now. First I have my order delivered to my house and the cake was literally handed to me! not covered or anything, i call the bakery very confused and they tell me they never deliver their cakes in boxes because they assume we’re it’s being delivered is we’re the party is. I told her that was not a case for me & even if it was I would of still liked my cake covered and protected. Even if the cake had to be out for the delivery a cake box should of still been offered to me. The lady I Spoke to was very nonchalantly says well your husband can come pick up a box if he wants..THATS WHAT I PAID FOR DELIVERY FOR SMH, It’s not ok to just assume someone is fine with their order being completely exposed ( we are still in a pandemic ) so anyway now I have this two-tier cake that I have no clue how to get to the actual party destination. My husband was running all over Montgomery county trying to find a box for this cake. Longer story short cake was so messed up by time we got to the party it was just embarrassing and we were late for our sons birthday because we spend so much time trying to find a way to transport this cake. Also my cookies were NOT what I asked for! I was just extremely disappointed with this experience
Went in with the intention to spend a lot of money considering I spoke very highly of this place and had a large order for six people. I drove 45 mins and got there exactly 6pm on the dot and the bakery side was closed. They were still able to go next door and get the items on my list that they still had left. Although, I probably would’ve spent more money if I were able to see what options were still available. Since they wrap their boxes with string I unfortunately didn’t check to see if the order was correct. We got home and the cheesecake we ordered was regular cake ☹️. Disappointing. Will try again soon

Bredenbeck’s is the best! My husband and I had our wedding this year and because of COVID our plans were constantly changing. Bredenbecks was super flexible and easy to work with when it came to changing things around. Not to mention their cake is amazing! Not only was our cake absolutely beautiful and everything we wanted it to be but it was delicious! We had pound cake with 1 layer raspberry swirl and chocolate chip in the other and both were delicious! We had also requested a peek-a-boo of our dog on the cake and it was perfect and looked so cute! I wish we lived more locally so we could get baked goods more often!

When i lived in Germantown i use to stop by for ice cream and cupcakes during the summer with my sons. Now that i live in NJ and live right across the street from Sweet Eats bakery. I now drive 37 mins to my favorite bakery Bredenbecks to by my sweets because their quality and taste is still unmatched!! I just drove there today for Mothers Day. As long as they never change ill be a customer for life!
I’ve been going to this bakery for years, and it’s not what it use to be . I ordered a cake for my birthday and was not Satisfied with what I got. This is not the norm. So I called just to let them know how I felt about the situation and they said that someone will return my call. Well If you got a call I got one too.! Everyone has some bad days but this is more than once so I don’t think I will be going there anymore because they’re not who they use to be and pretend to be now. Oh and to top that off after I picked up my cake my granddaughter and I went next-door and got ice cream . I got three scoops of ice cream that cost me $13! Now I’m not saying that’s highway robbery but a 13 dollar bill for two small cups of ice cream, should not have ice chips floating all through it . Not worth the money. I would’ve rather gone down Ridge Avenue in !Manayunk and gotten a homemade ice cream cup .wonderful place. And Wouldn’t cost $13So I say all this to say.. . That people and places change , and with change still comes responsibility ! The original owners would be ashamed!
I ordered a cake for my sons birthday picked it up today. The cake looked nice but everyone that ate it said it wasnt good. They said it didnt taste fresh. I also visited back in September to get cupcakes for my daughters birthday and she just told me tonight that they were nasty. Been going here for years Im guessing with this covid the quality has gone down??
Got our wedding cake here 5 years ago, it was great. Was in the area over the weekend and stopped to grab some treats. The quality of the items have gone downhill. Super basic bakery items that could easily be found at your local grocery store. No Danish, or baked pastries, said they stopped making them a year ago. So we still bought a few cupcakes and cookies since there was not much of a selection. Cupcakes are very basic with an overwhelming amount of icing. For example, the limoncello cupcake is a vanilla cupcake with a limoncello flavored icing on the top. The frenchtoast cupcake again was a vanilla cupcake with cinnamon icing, the cake was dry and did not comprise the underlying flavor of the theme of the cupcake. The carrot cake cupcake was 60% icing and 40% cake, pretty sad. We grabbed some cookies as well and they were all dry and tasted like they have been sitting for days. Just feel like the over use of sugar is to hide the lack of creativity. I will just bake my own instead....
First visit to this bakery and I’m unsurprisingly disappointed. It’s my son’s birthday and he was in the mood for a milkshake and snickerdoodle cookies. After hearing many people boast about this bakery, I decided to give it a try, but knew it probably would fall short somewhere.First stop, the parlor. We enter and was greeted with a few moments of silence and awkward glares. If it wasn’t for the young sista in training welcoming us we probably would have exited. What’s more insulting, is the confirmation of the off putting welcome when the guests who entered moments behind us were greeted by the whole team with warmth and glee.For a moment we thought it was just in our head, however, we received a second confirmation of unpleasantries when we entered the bakery where we were greeted with a second freshly baked batch of awkward glares and moments of silence. Apathetically, the clerk speaks, “Ummmmm, How can I help you?” The next guest enters and... that’s right, you guessed it!A note for management...In today’s climate, inclusivity is essential.

We used Bredenbeck’s for our wedding cake, and it was absolutely gorgeous and so very tasty. The staff here were very helpful, and they made my vision come true for the design of the cake. We chose lemon cake with raspberry filling and chocolate chip cake with cookies and creme filling. The cake was decorated so beautiful, and the cake was so moist and flavorful (not too sweet at all). I would definitely recommend this bakery to others for their wedding, they wont disappoint.

I cannot say enough about how easy Jake has made the entire process of ordering our wedding cake and how impressed I am with the quality!! Beautiful design and incredibly tasty! So unbelievably accommodating! No high pressure sales at all and very easy to work with. Price is very reasonable! I would highly recommend to anyone!!
Adorable, delicious, and highly recommended. Our wedding venues package included the cake, and my husband and I had four bakeries we could choose from. Naturally, we set up taste testings at all of them before making a decision. While Bredenbecks was neck and neck with one of the other bakeries as far as taste (not lying, they were both AMAZING as far as flavor and texture) Bredenbecks was our choice because they had such versatile designs, and a friendly, professional team. We wanted rather unique fondant cake decorations, cats to be specific, and Bredenbecks was thrilled to do something so fun; they did a wonderful job!All of our guests agreed that the cake was adorable and delicious. My husband and I look forward to our 1 year anniversary, where we can go back and they will make us an anniversary cake FOR FREE!!!I did call to make a last minute change a few weeks prior to the wedding, which didnt get incorporated, but it wasnt a big deal. When I told the bakery they were very apologetic, and are planning to use the feedback to improve their process going forward. If you make any changes, it might be a good idea to call a few days prior to the event just to verify they are noted in the right manner for the baker/decorator.
Our wedding cake was magnificent and tasted great. I designed our top tier to have flavors my husband and I love blended together as we are blending our lives, families, etc together. The day of our wedding everyone ate the specific tier I wanted to enjoy with my hubby and we had to eat the traditional wedding cake which mom insisted we have as our bottom tier. The bakery gives you a complimentary traditional tier for 1 yr anniversary, its an additional cost to upgraded. So, I upgraded the tier to have the cake we missed out on and they got the filling wrong. All in all the cake was delicious and Im pleased, but disappointed I didnt get what I ordered.
We ordered a Sugar-Free Birthday cake for my wife (Half-sheet). We ordered it a week in advance. We asked if it could be ready early, so I called them with this request. Not only was it ready-but wow they did a gorgeous job. It looks almost too beautiful to eat! My wife was pleased, and so am I. AND it tasted as good as it looked.Everyone was pleased. Theyre a half-hour or so drive from my house, but well worth the trip.
Ive used them for 3 different events and will continue to use them. Most recently for a unicorn cake for my daughters birthday. It was beautiful and tasty. I like that their cakes taste good and dont just look good. Everyone loved it. Customizing cakes is easy and their team is so helpful and friendly as well as prompt with responses.
My experience with Bredenbeck’s Bakery was amazing from start to finish! From the wedding cake tasting to the finished product, both my husband and myself were pleased with the service and results! The tasting was very personable, my husband who doesn’t even like cake finished his whole plate of samples; they changed his view on pastries! Our cake was exactly what I wanted: white, four tier cake, with sugar shimmer and glitter! All of the guest noticed how the glitter added to my New Years Eve Wedding, and also complimented the taste of the cake! I cannot thank this bakery enough for helping to make our wedding last year so special. Our experience with Bredenbeck’s was great from start to finish. They made the process so easy - everything from the tasting, payments, design and flavor combinations. The guests were in awe of its beauty and detail, and it tasted amazing too! They did such a fantastic job. My husband and I aren’t from the Philly area but if we were, I’d be at Bredenbeck’s all the time. I also can’t say enough about how nice the staff is. Bredenbechs supports the restriction of civil liberty. I heard one of their workers ask a lady to put a mask on her infant. I wont be going there ever again.@Brednebechs - there were only 2 kids working in the ice cream section and it was one of them. You arent one of those 2 kids, so you saying it isnt true is a flat out lie. Like i said, I wont be back. Bredenbecks has always held a special place in my heart. It is my familys tradition to ensure petit fours from Bredenbecks are included at most family events! Since I was a little girl, it was my dream to have a tier of petit fours from Bredenbecks as my wedding cake and on Friday, September 18, 2020, that dream came true! We had 200 petit fours displayed on a 5 tier cake stand and each petit four was exquisitely decorated in our wedding colors and tasted heavenly (as they always do). Do not think twice about contacting Bredenbecks to create your special dessert!
The baked goods are disappointing. I know desserts are supposed to be sweet, but they should also have flavor. Everything I’ve tried from here has been one note - sugar. That’s it. It just tastes like sugar. The staff are nice, but I’ll be going to Night Kitchen from now on.

Bredenbecks did our cake and dessert buffet for our wedding on 8/11/18 and they did a wonderful job! We had a tasting with them beforehand to choose our cake flavors, designs and dessert options. They took our ideas and turned them into a beautiful cake that we loved! The other desserts we had from them were SO delicious! I would definitely recommend them!

A truly fantastic bakery with very reasonable prices! We had our wedding cake from there and it was absolutely perfect. Our guests raved about the cake and many of our friends have subsequently used them for their weddings as well.We also had them create a specially decorated Harry Potter themedcake for us. They did a beautiful job. All of the decorations were impressive. I am not normally a fan of fondant icing, but their rendition is excellent!Additionally, we have ordered birthday cakes, cookies, and other assorted pastries from them over the years and have been consistently impressed. We love their chocolate chip cake and lemon cake the most, but really you cant go wrong with anything from Bredenbecks!

Bredenbecks made our cake for our November 2018 wedding and it was perfect in every way! The entire experience from cake tasting to delivery was so easy and went smoothly! The selection of individual items continue to delight. The standard huge character cookies are always great, and what better way to top that off than with ice cream. I like the idea that baking is on site, so you know it’s fresh. They are only one star off because I can never seem to get a custom cake within the event time frames.
I just wanted to say thank you to Bredenbecks. They donated a beautifully decorated gingerbread house to my friend who has 2 children with medical issues that have kept them homebound because of the Coronavirus. The gingerbread just made their Christmas.🎄 Also we ordered 2 gingerbread kits for our family this year. My kids made one to eat and one to keep for a decoration. The structure of the house and the quality of the icing really made it easy for the kids to decorate. Happy holidays!
I don’t understand the hype. I got the strawberry shortcake for my son’s birthday and was seriously unimpressed. I was told it would be fluffy and light. Cake was very dense and cream was heavy and thick. I have had much better cake at local China town bakery. They are also very overpriced. I also bought some raisin covered sticky buns. They were also very hard and nothing special. I’m not sure if they were stale or just made that bad. Never going back.
Bredenbecks bakery and ice cream parlor never disappoints! We always use them for our celebrations and anniversaries! The creative designs coupled with the choice of multiple different cakes, icings, and ice creams make them the perfect choice for any occasion!
As a bakery it is a solid option for getting your fill of cookies(various types/toppings), cakes, donuts, etc. They also have coffee, ice cream and sherbet. Regardless whether you need a cake made to order for a wedding or get together or you just want something good to eat, this is a great place to go to get your fill. If youre looking for something in particular, whether its a type of cookie or cake or some other form of pastry, then just place an order. The service provide has always been excellent and the same can be said of the products being sold.Recommended if your in or around the area to stop in and support this business. Prices are about average for bakeries in the area but can be high for some items. In the end the quality is high and worth the price.Just remember to feed the meter or else the traffic cops will get you the second you start walking away from your car. Also be careful some sometimes the meters are broken/malfunctioning. Regardless this bakery/ice cream parlor is recommended for its quality and service.
My mother waited outside in a line for almost an hour on Saturday to get a birthday cake, only to have an employee come out and tell everyone in line that an employee of theirs just received news that he/she tested positive for COVID. Apparently during the time period as he/she waited for the test, the employee was still permitted to work at the ice cream parole section of the bakery. I’m absolutely horrified and anger at the irresponsible actions of this establishment. I can’t imagine how many customers picked up their baked good during that period and may have possible been exposed.

Would give a Zero rating if I could. Been personally boycotting this bakery for the last 4yrs. MESSED up my last cake I ordered. When I say messed up I mean they must have completely forgot to make my cake and gave me a shelf cake with the wrong decorations on it. It was for my daughters 5th birthday the cake was the center piece. They only offered me a refund if I brought the cake back uncut how was I supposed to tell the kids they cant have cake. I was offered no other compensation. I would not recommend this bakery at all they have poor customer service. Not to mention they also messed up my baby shower cake. Luckily the person picking up the cake noticed and they fixed it last minute.
We had our wedding in May of 2018 and Bredenbeck’s was one of the preferred vendors of our venue. Emily was great to work with. She was very attentive and listened to the requests we were looking for. We communicated through emails and she sent us updates regularly about the evolution of our wedding cake. During the tasting, we were overwhelmed with the amount of variety to choose from, but she was very helpful and accommodating in answering our questions and addressing our vision of what we were looking for. Emily even offered us to take some samples home to taste to make sure we knew exactly what we wanted. Even the simplest things such as making payments they were flexible with in the sense that we can mail it rather than having to physically be there. We eventually chose a raspberry cake with lemon butter cream (highly recommended by the way) and the pound cake with lemon butter cream. We will be returning to Bredenbeck’s!

Their ice cream is pretty good. I had the Philly Graham Slam and Birthday Cake flavors on two different occasions. Both were very good. However, it is quite expensive. I could go to the Trolley Diner and get the equivalent items for literally a quarter of the price.
Clyde did a fantastic job with our wedding cake. It was so beautiful, and tasted incredible. He listened to what we wanted, we also brought in pictures - which helped. Dont know if I can wait a year to eat the top of the cake. He was also professional and had great follow through.

Although Bredenbecks has been a part of my life more than 25 years of buying sweets and ice cream cones in summers, ordering wedding cakes, recipient of birthday cakes, this past Thursday for my sisters birthday I ordered a cake she desired an italian rum cake which was absolutely superb!! She loved it. Definitely any doubt or you never been here before, take my word for it. EVERYTHING is deliciously baked here and service is just what you expect. Try those beautifully decorated cookies and the raspberry swirl pound cake....truly legends!!!
We got our wedding cake from Bredenbecks and it was perfect - even better than I imagined. It looked amazing, tasted better than the taster cake we had tried (i think the taster cake was just cold, but obviously it was good enough for us to choose it), and froze well so we enjoyed eating it a few months later. They will even make us a mini recreation for our 1-year anniversary for free!
A very pleasant, very local place. Bakery and ice cream shop. Not homemade ice cream, but the next best thing... Bassetts, a Philadelphia institution since, I think, the 19th century, and still family-owned and operated. Good quality and value on both sides of the shop.
Ordered a PINK cake for my wifes birthday. I stressed PINK colored cake the young lady said it was called Pink Champagne . She wanted strawberry so they put strawberries on it with chocolate frosting. Cake looked awesome when I brought it but I had no idea it had golden yellow frosting inside! She was disappointed but she tried to hide it. But I felt slighted. My wife was already feeling under the weather because of her allergies and now this. I think Ill be back for ice cream only next time!
I ordered a chocolate birthday cake. It was beautiful...perfectly decorated. The cake was moist, but it lacked flavor. The buttercream icing was sweet, but bland. Just not chocolate-y enough!
This was our second experience with Bredenbecks-designing a mitzvah cake. Caitlyn was incredible. We spent a relaxing amount of time discussing what our sons interests were, what kind of event we were hosting and together collaborated on a design that wowed us and our guests. The tasting was so much fun too! When we arrived at the party we couldnt wait to see the results of our meeting. The appearance exceeded our expectations! But then we ate the cake and couldnt believe that it tasted as good if not better than it looked! Every layer (5) was a different flavor because we couldnt decide which we liked the best at the tasting. We live about an hour away from Chestnut Hill and will order and drive to pick up desserts for any special occasion we have in the future! Ill try to post a picture too.
I absolutely love this place! Best bakery in town - hands down. Everyone there is extremely friendly, accommodating, and talented. They are incredible at capturing your vision to a T for customized orders and all occasions. Ive ordered a number of baked goods from there, but a few of my favorites were the mustache-themed birthday cake (with butterfinger filling inside - my mouth is watering just thinking about it), a wind energy-themed cake, and most recently, adorable onesie cookies for my sisters baby shower (which were a huge hit at the shower - and were made on such short notice!). Ive had nothing but great experiences not only with the orders, but the people as well. I think its safe to say that I will be getting my baked goods from there for years to come.
Bredenbecks Bakery made an absolutely gorgeous cake for our wedding on short notice! The staff was very accomodating and the final product exceeded my expectations- its a talented team! They work with the Valley Green Inn and were excellent to work with.
I was looking for a special cake for my Moms 60th surprise birthday party; a friend recommended Bredenbecks. And, I am so happy he did! My first visit w/ the bakery staff was wonderful...I was greeted with smiles (not to mention that it smells heavenly in there!) and all of my questions were answered. They showed me pictures of previous cakes as well and I placed my order that afternoon. The communication via email was excellent...I sent pictures of what I wanted and even made some last minute changes that the staff so kindly adjusted! I did not see the cake until the day of the party...they delivered it to the venue (early!) and it was PERFECT! It was more than I expected! It was a Michael Kors 3D leopard print purse with a fondant heel...AMAZING!!! The staff at the venue could not stop looking & talking about it, and my Mom was elated! The presentation, the flavor (chocolate chip pound cake), the talent, and the communication w/ the staff was EXCEPTIONAL! I will be going back for future family events! My mother ordered my brothers grooms cake from Bredenbecks Bakery for the rehearsal dinner. But not just any grooms cake -- a Ravens-themed cake, complete with a life-sized football! It was a spectacular success, the talk of the party. The design and construction of the cake was wonderful. The cake itself which was a full sheet of chocolate and yellow cake with chocolate mousse was delicious, so moist. The full sheet was pretty much gone. The Ravens fans went wild and I sent pictures to some of the players’ Twitter accounts. I heartily recommend the bakery to anyone. They also prepared the wedding cake, which was equally beautiful and delicious.

These people ruined my wedding cake!!! we spent 2 hours designing our cake because we couldnt decide between two themes. The person doing the drawing of it suggested we split the cake and as a fun event at the wedding and have our guest vote which side they liked better. We had everything ready to go with a voting box, but after charging us for the extra art work they just disregarded everything and sent a standard plain cake over. We had a big unveiling to find out they didnt do it!!! It was humiliating and had my wife in tears. The cake also tasted awful. I cannot believe after all the emails, phone calls, and face to face meetings they screwed up this bad

Pretty legit little bakery with great pastries and cakes. Their history and reputation in Philadelphia and the neighborhood are well known to locals. Parents ordered a few things for Easter and I picked them up the day of, the line went out the door. Had a really good cannoli and an Easter pound cake. Ive never visited the ice cream parlor but Im sure I will at some point.
I must say that I was slightly disappointed when Ii tasted my 50th birthday cake from Bredenbecks. It was nicely decorated on the outside but dry on the inside. It tasted like day old cake. I had to smother it with ice cream to make it moist. My guests complimented the cakes beauty but said nothing of its flavor..
I had an awful experience with them. BRIDES BEWARE!!!I had Bredenbecks make a replica of my cake top from my wedding day, this is an upgrade since they give you generic on on your anniversary. I had sent pictures, a detailed description - they told me they could absolutely do this. Please note this was a VERY simple white cake! I go to pick up, and its 100% wrong. it wasnt my cake. The girl was very rude and said they would redo it and to come back tomorrow. I go back the next day and its even WORSE!!! they even got my monogram wrong. they clearly did not care enough to look at the pictures or the email. This cake could not be more simple. So i took the care anyways.. they made me pay which is wrong since it was a massive inconvenience to me to drive there 2x from the city. When we finally sit down to enjoy this laughable wedding cake it was disgusting. it was ROCK hard and STALE. I dropped them a note telling them this cake wasnt even edible and they never even wrote back. Brides: pick a different bakery!
Brendenbecks bakery staff were awesome from start to finish with picking out our sons first birthday cake! We were provided excellent customer service and assistance with deciding which type of cake to choose(we went with a vanilla layer cake with strawberries inside, vanilla buttercream on top and chocolate buttercream on the sides). When I picked up the cake - I couldnt have been happier with the decoration - it was EXACTLY what we were envisioning.Thanks so much for making our sons 1st birthday cake delicious and adorable! :)

Serves Bassetts ice cream here which can be pricey, but still sooo good and worth it! They also offer slices of their pound cake, cookies, cupcakes and a variety of cake slices and an assortment of other pastries. Reasonably priced and super patient and helpful staff. One of my favorite bakeries to recommend and they usually have a Groupon available.
Lovely little ice cream shop in Chestnut Hill serves great flavors and has friendly, knowledgeable staff. Ice cream isnt necessarily made by them, tho, so its not quite the same as the the old fashioned shops that have their own ice cream made in house. No seating here and it can get very crowded. #letsguide #bestofphilly
If you ever find yourself in Chestnut Hill section of the city, I would highly recommend this place for a treat. They have wonderful employees and the many flavors that they offer is great! Its a bit cramped inside, but eh, not bothersome at all. Its a bit pricey, but I think its worth the money.
The charm of the building is carried throughout the products and service at Bredenbecks. I had to order a specialty cake for my dads birthday and knew little about the process. I sent a few emails back and forth with the bakery and when I picked up the cake it was exactly what I had hoped for and more. The cake, almond with a raspberry filling, tasted better than it looked. People at the party were amazed and let me tell you Bredenbecks is not an easy word to spell over and over. I highly recommend and will be back!
OMG. Youve never had anything this good! The girls that work there are so nice and helpful. The free samples are plentiful. Everything is so fresh. If anyone knows of a better bakery please post it, cause I want to go there. I doubt youll be able to top Bredenbecks though!
This place is amazing! I asked them to make my dads 60th birthday cake with only a weeks notice and they did a phenomenal job and tasted SO amazing too! They are so talented and I am SO happy with this cake!
Great location. No seating on the bakery side. There might be some in the icecream side entrance. Not sure. The cup cakes are great. Irish potatoes are great. Cakes are great. Super Friendly staff.
The assortment of the gourmet cupcakes is amazing. My personal favorites are the turtle, pink champagne and chocolate peanut butter. I ask their friendly staff to put ribbon the box and take it too all my clients and friends houses. Getting an ice cream on the way out definitely seals the deal!
Delicious baked goods, friendly people, definitely stop in and treat yourself. Even better, they take credit cards!Just dont rely on the hours posted on their webpage, we went there for late evening ice cream once and they were shut tight despite the website saying the ice cream parlor part was open until 10pm.
Great experience everytime I come thru. Ive been coming to Bredenbecks Bakery for 5 yrs. The baked goods are always fresh & flavorful. The shop is always clean, & bright, as is Staff & the Customers upbeat & usually friendly. Staff usually are, too. Its alway a treat when we stop thru.
They make their own ice cream. It was really good. They feature their own flavors and the ice cream variety is really good. Small inside but it doesnt matter at all. They also feature a great cake selection. Wonderful place!

I know that Im in the minority here. A year or so ago I bought a carrot cake from here. It was by far the worst carrot cake Ive ever eaten. Yesterday was my Mothers birthday so I thought I would give them a second chance and bought a half yellow half chocolate cake. Big mistake. The cake was dry and had little taste. I have gotten better cakes at grocery stores. I will not be returning.
BEST raspberry jelly donuts Ive ever had. Also, the service isnt too bad either.. A woman named Julia helped me and she was pretty cute if I do say so myself ;). Great place!
My family has been going here since I was younger. I remember getting on the bus with my grandma to go here just to get cupcakes and order cakes for parties. Now my daughters go with my mom (their grandmom) to place orders. Always great customer service and they are always honest and point you in the best direction to make your order super special.
I went there today and they barely gave me 3/4 of a cup of ice cream for a double scoop and when I asked about it I was told that double scoop isnt really a double scoop but rather a one and half which didnt make any sense. Not only are they charging super expensive rates falsely but also lying about it.I am never going back and would strongly recommend anyone thinking of buying here to think twice coz there are far better places to get your moneys worth!!
Our wedding caterer works exclusivey with Bredenbecks Bakery. After our free consultation and cake tasting, we choose the perfect cake for us. Bredenbeck made the decision super easy. They arrived early and delivered a cake that was exactly like the sketch from the consultation. For the bottom tier, we choose a raspberry swirl with the top tier a traditional pound cake. The cake was frosted in a butter cream teal ombre effect with a pink flower to the side. Guests raved about how delicious the raspberry pound cake and the butter cream frosting was. They even give you a free cake on your 1 year anniversary!
Since COVID has limited customers in store, there are always at least 5 customers at a time (and generally at least 8-10) blocking this section of Germantown Ave every time I walk by. If they had a system or some form of organization to fix this issue, ie dots on the sidewalk, it would be less of a nuisance to local residents trying to walk up the avenue.
The taste cakes cookies decorations are so good. Many many people go thru their doors. Ice cream parlor next door. Seats outside for you to sit an talk.

The ice cream was pretty good, but it was served out of Turkey Hill containers. Im not sure if they make the ice cream on site but when I noticed the containers said Turkey Hill, I got a little annoyed that I might have just paid like $6 for a scoop of grocery store ice cream. If they do make their own, they should cover up the Turkey Hill logo!
Sorry Bredenbecks, I used to love you, have been going there for over 15 years for ice cream. But lately youve raised your prices for a single scoop cone to over $5 and you give us less ice cream. I feel resentful when I pay you and see what I get for it, so Im not really going there much anymore.

I liked this place a lot. A sweet little ice cream place in the beautiful suburb. They had quite a bit of variety thought. I tried three different flavors before buying and a cup and it was delicious.
This bakery is awesome, they offer sugar free cakes which taste amazing. The staff is friendly whether you are ordering over the phone or in person.
We got our wedding cake here for our June 8, 2013 wedding. The cake and service at Brendenbecks was perfect. The cake was delicious, will definitely use their service again.
Get that ice cream shaped cookie with the cinnamon and the sprinkles if they have it. They have awesome ice cream. Definitely try the Guatemalan ripple! Great place with great service.
Massive line, didnt have croissants, after I had called while in line, 10 minutes before being helped, to inquire if they had some, they said yes, but when I got to the counter, they said the last ones were sold 20 minutes ago.I wound up buying a cheese Danish instead, and it was fabulous, but Im still disappointed in being assured croissants when there werent any

This is one of the BEST bakeries I have ever been to. Fantastic in every way and the staff is friendly and efficient. I go there often and never regret it. The doughnuts are great.
My husband and I hosted a rehearsal dinner prior to my sons wedding in Philadelphia. I sent Bredenbecks a photograph of my sons black lab and they made a 3-D grooms cake that looked exactly like the dog. My son was thrilled and the guests raved about the cake!

Extremely decadent and delicious ice cream- the chocolate mint is top notch. Pastries range from ok to pretty good. The croissants are the best baked good here.
Their German Chocolate Cake is out of this world. The best cake I have ever had. Also, I highly recommend trying the eclairs.
Small shop with a variety of options. Ice cream on one side, baked goods on the other. Even has an area upstairs when you are planning for a wedding (cake). Desserts are overpriced but taste great.
Not sure if I like the bakery or ice cream parlor more. I dont think Ive ever had anything from here that I didnt line. Their sugar cookies are definitely a favorite in my house.

Took grands, 8 and 5, there because they wanted ice cream. Staff was very pleasant to the girls.A counter person offered the girls a free cookie while we waited.
Well the bakery has been in at least four generations I did have their carrot cup cake and it was very delicious I visited there ice cream parlor one summer evening after coming from the movie theater and it was so fresh and that was just the cone however before we have even gotten a block away I had to go back and get a quart to take home I generally would not buy more than a cone of ice cream in the summer but I had to it was just that it so fresh and delicious I had to and cup cakes I dont even like cup cakes nobodys cup cake but I bought one only because I am a diabetic and I needed sugar but tasting it was a different phase that cupcake was very good!
Great taste. But I was ordering a cake and they were guessing the prices for a up charge on gold icing, they could have done better. Customer service was ok.

Was very disappointed because I was assured that I would be able to get a strawberry shortcake the day before Thanksgiving for a birthday. When I went to pick it up they were all sold out.

Amazing vanilla and chocolate cake with buttercream frosting for a grad party. The artists came up with the design and it came out great! Everyone LOVED it!
The place is been in Chestnut Hill for a long time. They serve all the traditional old-school favorites plus there is a Bakery attached do it. All good.

Always professional, suggest additional ideas for my design and have been my family go to place for all of our occasions. They did spell my daughters name wrong after being told how to spell and written down.

Stopped in for a great treat, and left with the best butter cake, strawberry shortcake, caramel salted chocolate tart and keylime muffin ever!

2021-11-30Bredenbeck’s has been our favorite bakery every time we visit Philadelphia. We were really excited when we found out they were the preferred baker for our wedding day. They offer a cake tasting with delicious cake samples and fillings, including seasonal flavors. It really helped us choose what we wanted. Also, the staff were professional and answered all our questions in a timely manner. We were able to design a custom Lord of the Rings tiered cake plus a grooms cake and they went above and beyond to deliver exactly what we wanted. The cakes came out beautifully and tasted amazing! We highly recommend Bredenbeck’s for your wedding day or any day for tasty treats!

2022-04-16I can not say enough amazing things about this place.They have been my go to place for celebration things for the last 4 years when I moved to the area. I look forward to working with them for my upcoming wedding as well. For a quick treat I recommend the lemon raspberry cheesecake slices or donuts but I won’t ever admit to stopping by secretly just to splurge 😂

2021-11-06Bredenbeck’s Bakery & Ice Cream - baked treats on one side and ice cream on the other. We tried a chocolate-dipped donut and a turtle cupcake. Both were good although the cupcake tasted a bit stale. The flavors were there though, so we will probably give it another try. The prices are average and the service was ok. The Chestnut Hill area is charming and quiet.

2022-06-06I had placed an order for cupcakes needed for a Bridal Shower. I placed my order more than 2 weeks in advance and put a deposit down. The day of pickup my order was not ready and I had to wait an additional 40 mins. When I got home I looked over the cupcakes and could tell it was a rush job with icing the cupcakes. I had asked for coral iced cupcakes with icing shaped like a rose with a green petal. Some of the cupcakes did not have the green petal and the icing job looked sloppy. Very disappointed to have paid quite a bit of money and not get what I had envisioned or asked for

2022-02-15We used Bredenbecks for our wedding cake 2 years ago and decided to use them again for our babys first birthday for her cake and donuts. Everything was absolutely delicious and the cake was perfect for our donut theme ! We will only ever get occasion cakes from here.

From going into the store to order the cake and discuss my ideas for design and flavor, Tish was super helpful and listened intently to what I was looking for. 2021-07-23We cannot thank Bredenbecks and their wedding cake team enough!! We worked with Dana throughout our entire process and she was amazing! We wanted a simple but elegant cake, decorated with cascaded flowers - and that’s exactly what they did! The cake itself tasted amazing, but even more so, it just looked absolutely gorgeous!!! They decorated our cake with our own silk flowers and they couldn’t have done a more amazing job. Thank you, Dana and the rest of the team for making our dream wedding cake!!

2022-05-29Usually it would be a 5 stars because I love this place but we were sold what tasted like day old cupcakes yesterday (very dry and not fresh). We always say how good this place is to our friends but this was just embarrassing esp. when our friends were visiting from out of town. Sugar cookies were excellent. Everything should be being made fresh the day of- isnt that the point of a local bakery? Hope this doesnt happen again because this place is usually great.

2022-04-24Our wedding venue used Bredenbecks and it was sooo delicious! Would not have gone with any other bakery. The tasting process and design session was great, they were so helpful in creating the perfect cake. The cake was our dream come true and tasted amazing! I could eat it all day! Would highly recommend.
