Please be aware that this place does not have authentic Mexican food, I will said they have american food inspired by Mexican cuisine.Im from Mexico so my personal preference is something more authentic but my husband (American) loves this place, he could eat there every single day! So its about your personal preference. He likes the Old Monterey burrito, I usually get the fish tacos.
After our afternoon spent in Cedar Beach Park we went straight to this place. We arrived there was a long long line, but the server worked that line down in about 5 to 10 minutes. We ordered from the vegan menu and had a great experience. The seating is kind of weard but it was a pleasant atmosphere. The food was fantastic and reasonable price. Only thing is the deck seems to be finished but they havent opened it to the public use yet.
Went in not expecting much of a Mexican place catering to college crowd. Pleasant upside surprise! Really solid Tacos and salsa choices. A lot of food for the money. The kids working here are on the ball, friendly, service-oriented. Decor is cute. Extensive menu also blew me away. Pretty much anything you could want, any way you could want it. Big, roomy place with a deck during better weather. Plenty of parking. Will def return
Its a counter table service, as soon as you enter you place the order. They have tacos, burritos, taco salad, nachos and kids meals. For drinks, you can choose between fountain sodas or bottle/can drinks. Restrooms and tables are clean. They served fast the food. There are a couple of salsa stations, you have like 4 options to choose for free. Plus other sauces in the front.I loved that you can add for free to your burritos certain toppings as lettuce, cilantro, jalapeno and others. Sour cream and guac are extra fee.Prices of the burritos are great for what you get (around $8-$9). I ordered El Dorado (pork) burrito, without Ranchero sauce (supposed to be mild sauce), and added lettuce, pico de gallo, cilantro and tortilla chips. Also asked to be toasted. So far, BEST BURRITO IN TOWN. 😍 I really love it, fresh flavors and non spicy (you can add spicy ingredients/sauces if you want). All burritos comes with tortilla chips as a side. (Downside most of my chips were burned)I ordered also guacamole, thats the only thing so far I dont recommend to order it, since the price is more that what you get ($7). It doesnt come with anything and its not really a huge side. Its more worthy if you just order guac as extra with your burrito. Its good though but its not amazing and in my opinion prefer to pay for another burrito or taco (similar price) instead of the large guac.
Always love the vibe in this place! True Cali-Mex food on the east coast. Fresh ingredients and innovative food combinations. The burritos are huge and the special is always on point. Don’t overlook the tacos and salsa bar, they are my definitely my favorite. If you have an extra slap (make sure it’s appropriate) bring it with you for the wall!
Solid burritos and lots of condiments for no additional price.Order by the cashier, sit down and they will bring your food to you. I did not know this and was trying to get a table (to my embarrassment). The cashier was very nice and quickly gave me the deal. Not crazy about the tortilla chips, but the burritos are good. There are a few salsa to choose from ranging from mild to spicy. Not the spot for authentic burritos, but if you need a quick fix, you got it!Friendly service and the ambiance is very groovy.Food came fast!
I hadnt been to the new Cali Burrito location. I got their vegetarian Koreatown special; it was truly inedible, incredibly too spicy to be eaten. I have had other burritos here that are better. The staff offered to make another burrito for me to their credit, but I had had enough. Also, the chips were sort of stale.
I’ve tried this place twice and will not go back. I had the chicken bowl both times and both times the chicken was bland and unseasoned and the rice was mushy. Tried adding more cilantro lime dressing but nothing could make this edible. Couldn’t even finish it. For the same price, Chipotle is so much better.
Cali Burrito is very famous place to enjoy mexican food in Allentown. They serve there dishes with side of home made tortillas and a variety of dips/sauce to enjoy them. They serve a lot of variety of mexican food like Burritos (but obvious), Quesadillas, Salads etc and various beverages to enjoy your meals with. The burritos are quite filling and they have numerous variety of them.
I have to be honest.. my friend raved about this place for years, setting my expectations really high.. so when I finally ate there I expected much more than I received, but that is not to say it wasnt good. It was good but not amazing, one thing is for sure.. I did not leave this place hungry, their sauce was great, I loved the selection of sauces they had and the fact that you can refill anytime. All that being said, I will visit again..
I love the idea of this place, but its hit or miss. Had a couple good visits, and a couple disappointing ones. Usually get tacos. Sauces are always tasty, but the beef is kinda bland on its own, and doesnt quite hit the Hot mark. More like warmed through. Some days the service is good, other days it seems the boss is away and no one cares. Food is fresh tasting, for sure, and their menu can be a chore to read - the kind of menu for people who frequent the place - but they definitely have lots of options. Manage your expectations and this place can be a treat. Order the queso.
My veggie burrito was a 1/5 and I couldn’t even get through a few bites. Too much going on in there plus it was too dry that I couldn’t enjoy it. But my husband really liked his chorizo burrito. The salsas and queso were delicious. Will buy the bottled hot sauce for sure. So that’s why I can give it a 3/5. I will try the quesadilla next time, hoping I’ll like that better. But man, kind of disappointed about my burrito.
Burritos are still good, but if you think placing an online order will save you time, think again. They put those orders to the end of the line while they make everyone elses Togo order. You might as well order at the counter and walk out in 2 minutes with your food than order online and have to wait 15+ minutes for it to be ready. Just when I was ready to be done waiting and get a refund somehow my food shows up. Rude front staff.
Absolutely the best damn tacos in the valley. Glad they moved to a new location with much more seating capacities. The chips and salsa are unbelievable. You definitely have to check out this place prices are very very reasonable and the staff is very friendly and helpful.
The location of this Cali Burrito is almost ideal. It is quite close to downtown Allentown but far enough away to where parking is seldom an issue. While the parking lot is in the back the only entrance/exit is on the street in front of the building. The staff is friendly, attentive and food comes out quite quickly. The restaurant, true to its namesake, is filled with memorabilia reflecting a groovy, laid-back west coast atmosphere. The building has ample space and dine-in accomodations appear to be plentiful, BYOB is allowed. While they do have a patio, it does not appear to accommodate outdoor dining. The menu, while relatively small, has varied and diverse options including a full vegetarian menu. Prices are not particularly low but are reasonable compared with similar options and taking quality of ingredients into account. The only faults I could find with my experience were: 1.) No napkins in the bag on a takeout order and 2.) While the chips that they give for a side are very tasty, they lack salsa or another dipping sauce which would make them, and the main course, more enjoyable to eat. However, these are small faults and could be remedied simply by asking specifically for said items. Overall, this was a great experience and I would definitely order from them again. If your a fan of Mexicali style cuisine and a colorful, mellow atmosphere this place might be somewhere to consider on your next lunch break or dinner date.
Stopped in for take out. Large dining area and the food was good. Prices a little on the high side but the quality of the food was good. Only issue I had was the entrance is in the front and you have to park way in the back and walk up a small incline of steps. There seems to be an entrance in the back but it is not used. Front entrance not easily accessible if someone had a walking issue which would limit their ability making it difficult to get to the front entrance.
The vibe is just as awesome as their food, and the rotating specials always give you something new to try. They also have rotating salsa options. However, the usual choices are all delicious as well. Dont forget to ask for some mango habanero sauce (or just buy a few bottles).I also dont know of a single person who has ever left hungry or disappointed. The staff is pleasant and food is ready in a timely fashion.
Mmm mmm mmm Good, The staff and service are amazing, Cali Burrito is the number 1 place to eat! Everyone is down to earth and great with kids ! My daughter High Fived at least two of the ladies working the register and taking orders . Id recommend Cali Burrito to any of my family & friends!
The food was just “ok” the guacamole did not seem homemade or authentic, it was really creamy and just full of cilantro, no chunks, no tomatoes or onions, i didn’t even taste lime. The best thing i tasted was the falafel burrito. It was our first time so we purchased multiple items to taste. The taco salad was a mess, the other burritos we tried were just like any other regular burrito. I’ve eaten Mexican food from all over because i LOVE Mexican food, this place was subpar at best.
I started going here as soon as they opened at their original location and followed them down the road to the new location. Still has it’s chill vibe. Always interesting people there. Staff is usually totally great. For veggie enthusiasts the Santa Cruz tacos are heaven and they can easily make it a GF meal. Choice of sauces and homemade salsas YUM. But beware because lunch or dinner times is typically packed, but a little patience is well worth it.
I have been coming here for years now. Ordered a burrito with double chicken, white rice, pinto beans, and cabbage. There wasnt even the amount of chicken they put in their regular burritos. Barley any rice and beans and stuffed with cabbage. If I wanted that much cabbage Id eat some coleslaw. For $10, I could have went to one of the chain places and ate till I burst. Took a few bites and in the trash it went. If you want to get ripped off this is the place!
Was in the mood for something other than burgers or hot dogs for lunch. Remembered this place and glad they are open for takeout. Fish tacos hit the spot and the mild salsa added just enough spice. Was a quick stop. Look forward to when the can restart indoor seating.
Great spot, I recommend to every one that visits PA. Great seasoning of their meats, which I think separates them from the chain competition, then the homemade chips and salsa bring it to a different level entirely. The only thing that would make this place better is if they explained more about where they source their ingredients.
This used to be my favorite restaurant in the Lehigh Valley, and theyve absolutely RUINED it with a bad change of location and horrible, unfriendly policies. They have been closed for dining for over a year now, which is so over the top and unnecessary. You have to order online and pick up only. So you have your patrons eating around their cars in the parking lot - tailgating basically- at what should be a normal sit down restaurant. The staff is abrasive and rude to guests. You really make a disabled person trudge up steps to get their order then scream at them across the room to wear a mask or go outside? You dont ask if someone might be medically unable to wear a mask? Absolutely a tragedy to see this once fun, lively place where I would get together with friends, now is a sad, cold, empty monument to their past success. Just dont see how this this is a sustainable business model. Very sad to see. The worst part is the food isnt even that good anymore, its barely seasoned, bland, and theyre over-using cheap rice to cut their protein costs. I literally had to empty out my burrito at home and recook with some seasonings to make it palatable.
Has a nice vibe and food is great. I love looking at the growing collection of stickers on the walls. Their regular menu is different from most other burrito joints and every week they have a new Burrito of the Week. The chips that come with the burritos are also unique - a blend of a few different types. The salsa bar is self serve with 4 different types, with at least one being non-traditional. Just beware that they close daily from 2:30-3:30 for siesta (also love this idea). There will be a line waiting for them to reopen at 3:30.
Ive been going to Cali Burrito for the last 10 years, and after moving away from the area we still make it a point to go whenever we are visiting. The chips are amazing, and the salsas are always great and fresh. They have great vegetarian and vegan options but their steak is also on point. I love their fish tacos!! Honestly, you really cant go wrong.
When we first moved to the Lehigh Valley over five years ago, we solicited food recommendations from our new, local friends. Time and time again, “Cali Burrito” came out of their mouths, and it became obvious that we had to try it.Needless to say, our first experience kept us coming back year after year, month after month when we want the best quality taco with the most fresh ingredients. As a bonus, the atmosphere is incredible. Upon entering through the doors, you’re aptly transported to California. From the music to the bright decor, it’s impossible to be unhappy sitting there, eating a Sonoma and freshly made chips and salsa.Whether you have recently moved to the Lehigh Valley or been here for years, Cali Burrito’s menu is one that you MUST have in your menu drawer at home, sitting atop the pile. Because honestly, over anywhere else, it’s where I want to order after the best day or the worst day. Their food is supreme and sublime, soul-healing and absolutely delicious.
Everything about this place is a really good experience. Besides one pretty big thing in my book... The food is very bland I had a El Dorado burrito (I think it was called that) and the rice was as white as it could be the pulled pork tasted like unseasoned pork same with all the other ingredients. Salsa is decent but aside from those two issues everything else was great. Ive had multiple menu items including tacos, burritos, quesadilla and they all were very bland. Hopefully they add a little mexican flavor to the food the serve. Otherwise good job guys.
Food is really delicious, can be a little pricey but its worth it. They make homemade everything there. The chips and salsa are like none other Ive ever had. They have vegetarian and vegan options. Everyone there is helpful and friendly. Can get really busy and a long wait but again its worth it, the food is amazing.
We have been going to Cali Burrito for years and LOVE it. The food is amazing; fresh, bold, and delicious. The atmosphere is laid back and inviting. You know that the food is good if you see a restaurant blended with college kids, families with their children, and older couples!
Food was great. Fast food for sure. Chips and salsa were excellent, various heat salsa. Burritos huge and with good meats. Zero complaints on the food and service side. Tables and chairs are meh and the place gets noisy with kids, just be prepared for that. More of. 3.5 stars than 4. Good food, worth a visit.
Our go-to taco/burrito place in the Lehigh Valley. They are always busy (a good sign!), but manage to get orders out very quickly. Staff is friendly and the food is so good. Homemade tortilla chips are great! Their tacos are a hard shell wrapped in a soft shell withPro tip 1: You can ask to have any burrito put on the grillPro tip 2: When doing takeout (or bringing home leftovers), remember to grab some of their salsa from the self-serve salsa bar (salsa made on premises!) They have convenient takeout containers right there.
This is a good place to grab a quick bite to eat, although my food doesn’t always come out hot. 1 complaint I have is that they serve chips which is a mix of home made corn chips and flour chips tortilla chips. We should be able to order the fried flour tortilla chips separate if we chose, not everyone is able to eat the corn ones. Other than that it’s a great place.
They have so many inventive and delicious burrito options! There are options to vegetarians and vegans that arent just a bean burrito too. We have been here a few times and try something new each time and have never been disappointed. Their hot sauce selection is mouth on fire delicious. You can also customize your burrito. Service is always fast even when they are busy! Siesta from 2:30-3:30 so be aware of that.
The food is always fresh and delicious. The burritos are packed full of goodies, the tacos as well. I adore the quesadillas! The different salsa and sauces is my personal favorite part. I look forward to whatever homemade daily sauce they have availableService is always friendly. The atmosphere is very chill and beachy. Theyre always a great choice in my book.
These burritos are GOOD! This place has a TON of hot sauces which may lead one to believe the meat quality may not be that great.... but, that wasnt the case. Food was very good and the spicy stuff is purely voluntary. If you hate your colon youre going to feel right at home with the crazy hot sauce selection! Great place!
Great food, very fast and always consistently good. Salsa is great, they advertise it as free but give you a bit of an attitude if you attempt to take too much. You can buy it by the container however it is a little pricey. One time I attempted to buy a quart or two for a large Mexican themed get together I was having at my pad and they gave me the run-around and acted like I would like to place a special order, however I know that they have excess of salsa on hand. My only major complaint is the attitude of the snippy young girls working at the counter, they are generally rude and seem disinterested in providing good customer service.
The burrito was alright and didnt really stand out from any other burritos I had in the past. However, I have to say the chicken was cooked nicely and shredded apart without a lot of effort. The chips that came with the meal were interesting. Im not sure if this is the norm but I had a mixture of a couple types of chips - some light yellow with seasoning sprinkled on, some golden brown chips, and some thicker chips possibly made from flour tortillas.
Awesome California style burrito joint with sit down and dine in or take out options. You usually wait to order and then your number is called when its ready, or brought to the seating area for you of dining in. Be sure to try the soups too, they have a rotating selection of amazing flavors. We love getting the Big Sur (steak burrito) or one of the vegetarian taco options. There is one with cabbage that is excellent (I know, I was reluctant too, but trust me!) Place closed for their staff to take lunch, so check the hours.
I want to give a 5 star, but I just can’t. I love the psychedelic west coast vibes and enjoy the friendly staff, but I’m just not impressed by the food! I’d give the food itself just 3/5 stars. I live nearby so I always take my guests here. I always ask their honest opinion and the usual response is “I mean I like the place but the food is just alright.” I always want to like the food more than I do. Oh well 🤷🏼♂️ Their salsas are their food’s saving grace.
Tried the El Dorado burrito.Service was mysteriously fast, as if they knew I was going to order ahead of time. Hardly sat down after my orders when a young lady came out with a bag and called my number. Now the food. Very tasty. The beans arent sorry or mushy but just right, with enough resistance when chewed. Pork was very flavorful.Only complaint: wasnt was a bit low.Overall, well worth the drive.Caution: entrance to parking lot needs some work. Enter slowly unless you have an off road vehicle.
My husband and I LOVE Cali Burrito! The prices cant be beat for such huge servings. Food is tasty. Service is quick to bring it to your table. We can have a nice, cheap night out. I love that dinner is around $20 for 2! I only have 1 complaint, if I have to say a negative. That is the way you order the food. Theres only 1 register. There are many people who dont know what they want by the time they get to the register and it backs up the line. They should get a better system with 2 or more cashiers. Face it. We are in a computer world. We can have different registers alternating between the two of them.
The food was great, the service was great and the prices were right on. They do close for like an hour for afternoon “siesta” but reopen around 4pm. Weve been going to Cali Burrito since they opened their original location in 2007. Excellent attitude and friendly service; chill vibe, with great food ant an outstanding price point. They are always experimenting with the Burrito of the Week and fresh salsa. Good people and solid food. If you think you dont like tofu, try the smoked tofu tacos and you will be a lifelong convert. ;->
This place has gone down hill! Old food smell and taste, very very inconsistent. The manager that runs this place looks like a grease ball, Actually all their employees are greasy. They say if you want to stick to something burn your bridges, I’m burning my bridge with place, so I don’t ever make the mistake of ordering here again!!
Cute little place somewhat off the beaten trail, the burritos are huge, flavorful and I think the best in the Lehigh Valley. They also have other traditional Mexican fair which is flavorful but I still suggest the burritos hence the name. The original salsas are very California and wonderfully fresh. The decor is very via and quite cheerful. There is ample seating but occasionally they do get very busy. It is family friendly and a good place for all to attend. I wouldnt suggest more than one burrito since as previously mentioned they are very filling.
Had the buffalo hicken burrito of the week. Best banging burrito I’ve had yet from Cali they need to keep the buffalo chicken burrito on the menu all the time. Love going there for burritos some of the best for the price around the area. Salsa is also always amazing every time especially salsa of the week. Chips are always good and crispy but need more of the “fluffier” chips they have usually a little darker and are less dense. Amazing food 10/10
Amazing burritos, wonderful tacos, and perfectly created salsa with decadent tortilla chips. Cali Burrito has it all, and deserves nothing short of 5 stars. I have been frequenting this burrito joint for years, and plan to continue this trend into the future. The staff is friendly and the food always surpasses my expectations. If youre ever feeling particularly adventurous, try one of the burritos of the week; they typically sound strange, but are delicious! They have also started selling a smoky queso dip, which is perfect with their fried, well seasoned chips. I always recommend someone who loves burritos to try Cali Burrito out. You wont be disappointed!
New location, same great food! New location has tons of parking, tons of eating room , two salsa bars and an amazing patio. Still love my smoked tofu burrito, all the food weve ever eaten here has been extremely delicious. Always looking for an occasion to go back to Callie burrito!
I love this place! I know that some people have mixed opinions on it, but the new place is very nice and hopefully wont have any issues like before. I love the tacos! I know the burritos are good too, but I think its a bit too much food for me, so I stick with the tacos, just as delicious and not as many calories. I love the chicken and fish tacos. The fish tacos are fried and fabulous!! The chicken tacos are so good because of whatever sauce they use on them. Both are good with some extra guac. on the side.
If you like Americanized burritos because this is not authentic Mexican then this is the place for you. The girls that work there are scantily-dressed and could wear more appropriate work attire. The food is pretty good. You get large portions. Also be aware that they close in the afternoons for about an hour. So check the times before you go.
Ive now been to Cali Burrito 3 times and feel confident in a 5 star review. The food comes out in reasonable time and is very tasty. The salsa selection is also great. Theres a reason why Cali Burrito is a west Allentown institution. Highly recommend going at weird hours when possible, as the wait can be kind of insane.
So glad that they took the plunge and moved to a larger place, now with two salsa stations!Burritos are wonderful! Options for everyone; vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, meat. Fresh and custom made to order. Note afternoon siesta (closed to clean up and catch up) from 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM.
Staff is friendly, atmosphere is almost comically cliché, and the variety is nice. Some toppings and food items are a bit weird, but surprisingly tasty (pickles on a burrito, for example--then again, in California, they put lettuce on cheese steaks, so not really surprised...). I like it how they have weekly specials and alternate salsas, and the food is very fresh. The tacos and chips are great, but the burritos can be a bit dry. Service is slow.
Cali was an awesome place to eat but its been on a downward spiral. Prices have gone up, the quality of the food has gone down. The burritos dont taste like theyre being made with fresh ingredients. The meat portions seem be smaller. I once gave this place a 5 star but now they slid down to a 2. Im a regular customer and have eaten there weekly and have noticed a significant decline. Hopefully the owner sees this review and takes the feedback to heart and turns the place around to its former existence.
I had the Old Montery burrito. Very good. My family had both the chicken tacos and beef tacos. All were vey good. They make their own chips and ther are 2 types. One is a little thicker. Both are really good. The fresh made salsas are excellent. Youre definitely full when you leave and meals are reasonably priced. Seating is somewhat limited when its busy but worth the wait.
Cali Burrito is a regular favorite in the valley. Absolutely love their burritos and tacos. A little pricey, but when youre feeling a craving for mexican, they make the cut every time! Their seating area is usually pretty packed and nothing too special, but theres a lot of it, and its got a lot of natural lighting.
This place is an absolute gem in the Lehigh valley. I moved to Philadelphia now but always make it a point to eat here every time I visit. Their burritos are absolute perfection, you can really taste the freshness of the ingredients and no one flavor overpowers the other. Perfectly crafted. I usually order the Humboldt which I would 100% recommend if you’re a vegetarian, the smoked tofu is to die for. They also have this Caribbean gold hot sauce I dream of continuously.
I get food from here all the time. I should own stock in the company by now. Last time I was there I made another massive order for a large group of people. We needed some bigger containers for the salsa - I just needed three of them. The clueless cashier told me I’d have to pay $5 for a container for salsa when I just spent $250 on food. I said you can’t be serious. She said yes it’s $5. I turned around and pointed to all the tiny plastic containers and said you’re telling me that if I sit there and grab 100 of those tiny salsa containers to go with my order you’re fine with that - but if I want a slightly larger salsa container I have to pay $5? Guess what - I stood there and filled up all the containers I needed. What a waste of my time and it surely cost them more money to provide 50 smaller containers than to just give me a couple larger ones. Don’t need to patron here anymore. The food is like cafeteria slop at this point anyway.
High quality food at a reasonable price. If you’ve ever been to Surf Taco, this is very similar.A few gripes: dining area is a little “rough around the edges” and they have odd closing hours midday.Still, the salsa bar and sauce bar are great, and the location is a great choice for those looking for a quick bite.
Refreshingly delicious! Their fresh, homemade salsas are awesome along with their crispy tortilla chips. My son loves their weekly special burritos which have some truly crazy wild combinations. I am more of a purist, so the chicken quesadilla is perfect for me with a side of guac. Definitely a must try eatery...and you will return!😋🌯🍅🌶️👍
Let me tell you this place is delicious 😋 just tried the el dorado - the burrito was very full - they are generous portions of meat and rice exc - highly recommend 🤤🤤 now I will say this was my first time and my darn gps tried to take me one way and I couldn’t find this place for 5 minutes lol .So here’s a free piece of advice look for the Sunoco gas station on Hamilton blvd and the yoccos there will be a side street between the two establishments . Turn there and then make a right boom you have arrived to paradise 🤗Sorry no photos next time 😆
Fresh food. This is the healthiest fast food I can find other than subway and Wawas processed meats. Santa Barbara taco are always a good choice if youre not sure. Their meals are filling and chips are literally the best Ive ever had. Theyre like battered tortilla chips. I go there way too often and still stay fit and active. If youre going fast food or even a restaurant for lunch or early dinner this should be your go to. Theyre expanding right down the road too. All good vibes there and very easy going hey man whats up how are you cool Sweet peace by. Do it now!! You wont regret it. Oh!!! And they close between 230 and 330 for shift changes and what not
Im not much for burritos but this place is excellent. Ive heard for years they have delicious burritos. Ive never tried any when they were in their old location on the corner of Hamilton and Ceder Crest. But finally did at their new location on Reading Road. My girlfriend and our kids been here twice now and both time it was amazing. I cant say enough about this place. It does get a little loud, but what can you do. Looking forward until their deck is finally open!
The food at Cali Burrito is consistently good , the staff is courteous , professional , service is usually somewhat quick.however there are times of day when no one picks up the phone .sometimes at dinner time the line is to long , also their policy from 2;30 to 3;30 is something to be recognized , they will not bend the rule no way no how , at the owners request , he will not give you the time of day during that hour , he is also quite.. as a matter of fact about it
YUM! A diverse selection of food expertly prepared. A great place to try something new.The atmosphere is sunny and quirky and super laid-back. My favorite time to visit is halfway thru the day of my 9-5 office job.Make sure to visit in the winter when you need a taste of the California sun. 😊😊😊
My friends were aghast that Ive never been here so we went. I did not regret it at all. The burritos here must have weighed 2 pounds. I got the Humboldt smoked tofu wrap and it was one of the best burritos Ive ever had. Each bite had its unique combination of rice, avocado, beans, and tofu that left my taste buds craving for more. The homemade tortilla chips were delicious, especially in combination with their homemade salsa. I need to go back!
Great burritos, tacos, taco salad, salsa, etc. The taste here is unlike any other place Ive ever been. Theres no comparison to Chipotle, Moes, etc. Everything tastes fresh and delicious and weve never had a bad meal. Keep in mind they do close every day from 2:30 to 3:30pm. You can get there at 2:15 and still eat your meal, though. If youve ever been to the old location on Hamilton, dont let that small space stop you any longer. The new place is just as cozy, but we have yet to not be able to find a seat. Also, if you love straws with your fountain drink, bring your own. They no longer give them out.
Burritos are ok and price is good. You get Chips with the burrito but they are not so good, some are crunchy but many came very soft and thick. The main drawback though, is the girl at the cashier. She is not service oriented at all. I guess shes there because she HAS to but if your job is to receive customers, receive the payment and start your order, at least you can show some basic courtesy, but I doubt she knows what that is.
Great food, only downside for me was I wish there was a way to order only flour tortillas because they come mixed, dont really like the corn tortillas, and I only had about 4 flour tortillas, in one bag with 2 burritos I ordered. when I asked for another bag so I can separate the tortillas the staff told me next time ask them for 2 separate bags as if it was my fault. I have never been there before I figured 2 separate orders would come with 2 bags, I was buying for two people, but as per the staff, I was at fault.Besides that it was good burritos.
Cool, west coast atmosphere. Food was awful. I got a Cambria burrito. The tortilla wrap needed to be grilled longer. The rice was soggy; a mush like feel. The peppers were oddly cut and oversized giving it a bad texture. $12 later and a half eaten burrito later Im headed somewhere else for a real burrito. My first and last time.
I’ve never had more bland, white bread food in my entire life and the people who love this place have never stepped outside of Allentown to have real Mexican food. Rice was soggy, the chicken was pink, and whatever they were passing for guac tasted like it was scraped out from under a lawn mower. -11/10 would not go here again.-
We love the El Dorado and the Big Sur burritos. Weve been coming here since the location on Hamilton. Great food, Great atmosphere. Employees have a great attitude. The only negative is that the chips include some pastry-type chips that arent crunchy, but the rest of the chips are awesome.
Original, customizable and always delicious burritos, a variety of fresh salsas, and the most addictive chips this side of the Rio Grande.. OK, maybe Lehigh river. Now in a more spacious setting, but nothing much else has changed (which Im counting as a win). Call ahead with your order if you want to avoid the (often long) line.
This was massively busy today (a Saturday shortly after reopening at this location). Perhaps 30 minutes between entering and eating. The food is as tasty as at the old location. My quibble is that they serve flour tortilla chips. I never had them in a Mexican restaurant before - even near San Diegos Pacific beaches - and they take pleasure away. You guys lose a star.
Gets crowded can be hard to get a seat if at peak hours and is loud with little undisciplined children. Food is amazing and cheap but the portions are small like the prices. If your friends are hungry order extra and definitely take it to go. Much better to eat it in a picnic in the nearby rosegardens
Being celiac, with a non celiac partner - here was our experience. Lots of gluten free options, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Chips not gluten free, which sucks, but I love that they knew enough to tell us before a glutening happened. Food was delicious! We will definitely be back.
The foods only good if you are able to understand everything on the menu, and like spicy food. Also, its more for the yuppie/hippie crowd. Parking is terrible...esp for those of us who work across the street. Stop blocking our view of cars on Reading Rd!!! This place is NOT worth the hype!
Arriving shortly afterward, the food would have been worth a longer wait. I got the fish po boy: fresh swai fish, breaded in-house with something delightfully spicy with fresh lettuce & a flavorful House Po Boy sauce. The chips, also made in-house, are positively light (sliced quite thin) but also seasoned with spice
Love the new location! If youre in the mood for Americanized Mexican food this is the place! Burritos, Quesadilas, Homemade soups andGuacamole. Try their hot sauces and burritos of the week. My favorite burrito is either the Humboldt or The Old Monetary. Theres plenty of seating inside but hopefully they will open the deck outside soon. This is the go to spot for a quick bite in the Allentown area!
This place was rated as a top 10 restaurant in Allentown so we had to try it and we loved it!! Food was good. Crowd was weird. Lol were from jersey and it just felt too quiet and awkward lol. Had to buy my 6 year old 2 kids meals bc we didnt realize it only came with one taco? They dont sell individual tacos?😑😖 other than that, no complaints
Their fish tacos are my favorite (if you like pickles, its a must-add). They have a salsa bar with the normal mild, hot, and verde, plus one that changes (daily? weekly? Im not sure), but theyre always creative and delicious. Its busy but it seems that after moving to their new location, the line moves quicker. This place is a must eat in the Lehigh Valley.
Food was terrible. Not Mexican, not Tex-Mex, not Cali-Mex, not good. A cold, bad flour tortilla around a cold, stale, not-crunchy taco; even Taco Bell does it better. The filling was good but everything else was terrible. Even the tortilla chips were bad. Service was good but food terrible.
Food is great as far as I can remember before the fire. Went to have dinner last night, arrived at 738 well before the advertised closing of 8 and was told they were no longer taking orders for the night because they were 30 minutes behind. Ummm, so? If a business is concerned about their customer you take orders up until the advertised closing time and then close the door. Why have a closing time posted in the first place? Lost my business and left a sour taste in my mouth but not because of the food.
This was by far the worst burrito bowl, guacamole and customer service I have had in a very long time. My burrito bowl was supposed to have beans, please see the photo, no beans at all, and loaded with iceberg lettuce. The guacamole looked and tasted as though it was made from a mix. The person taking my order appeared disinterested and was not helpful. The burrito my husband had was completely flavorless. I will not return and I discourage anyone from going there.
I live out of state, but whenever I visit family in Pennsylvania, I make sure to visit this place! It reminds me of the years I lived in California. Humboldt Burrito is my favorite - smoked tofu, black beans, brown rice, veggies in a whole wheat tortilla. Awesome! The chips and salsa varieties are fantastic too!
Place is mediocre af lmao my burrito was trash and was cold. If youre used to authentic mex food you wont like this place no type of flavor it tasted like they heated up the condiments with out any type of seasoning or love. Also they use that shredded mix cheese which was also disappointing. There salsa is ok

2022-04-22Some friends of mine love this place but it was just okay for me. I got a taco salad and it was good but the chicken was not seasoned and tasteless. It was juicy and everything else was good but the chicken being tasteless broke it for me. Ill try it again in the future and see if it changes.

2021-09-08Food was delicious! Love their burritos! This is my first time at the new location since we moved back to PA. I dont like spicy food and their mild salsa is perfect! Hubs likes their quesadillas.

2022-05-14I have been to this place twice and both times I have left very happy. The prices are reasonable and the portions generous. Theyre homemade salsa is really tasty. The atmosphere is fun, too.Its not a great place to go if you want to have a quiet conversation, but its a great place to go if youre hungry. Its also a great place to go with a group because you order and pay individually at the register before you sit down. 🙂

2022-03-26The plant based options were great. The smoked tofu and seitan were both flavorful and good texture. A great place to have a quick lunch or dinner. It is a counter order and take out or sit in the dining room. I will be going there again and recommend it to all.

2022-04-16Chicken tacos are good but the fish tacos are great! My son and I always split a chicken and fish order...Always fresh. And the soups are good also vegetarian. The only reason I cant give it 5 stars is that the chairs are the most uncomfortable things ever. I cant sit in them due to back issues and the bar in the front always digs into my thighs...

2022-03-11Honestly some of the best food weve had as a family in awhile! Freshly made food, great service, love that you can order online for pick up! Huge parking lot which is so nice, no stressful parking trying to find spots. Hot sauce are FABULOUS. Even our kids loved everything and thats saying something! The nachos....get. the. Nachos theyre amazing! Soups are so creative and delicious too. The seitan is made so well for the vegan burritos man I cant rave enough about it! Burritos are huge and the flavor and texture combos are pure magic. If you havent tried this spot yet, definitely make it a priority! We 100% will be back! No photos, because we Devoured our food lol

2022-06-21I have to laugh when people say this isnt authentic and give it 3 stars. They dont claim to be. If I could be stuck on an island and just eat Cali, Id be happy. My husband and I LOVE this place and have been going to the new location for years. Through everything (Covid) theyve been nothing but friendly and the food has been consistent. Ive never encountered unfriendly staff or when theres been a little something forgotten, theyre happy to fix it. I love to get the Sonoma and my husband likes the Old Monterey burrito. They make their own chips and salsas and theyre the best! Incomparable to chain joints. This place is cute, positive and vibrant and it will forever be a favorite place of ours.
