The “cupboard” that was supposed to have snacks etc available for purchase was completely empty. The coffee in the lobby had no cups left. The hallways looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in weeks, and the room smelled awful. This was my first and last stay here. I travel to Erie often to see family, but I will never consider staying at this hotel again.
One Pillowcase had a bloodstain. Checking in, I was NOT notified that my room was not attended to daily. After the second day of my bed not being made and the trash cans not emptied, I called reception. I got the lapidary answer that the rooms will be only tended to if I make a reservation in the morning at the reception. I have stayed in lesser-price accommodations and had not to think about it twice. The dark furniture also showed nicely a coating of dust.
We arrived at 9:30 with a 10 month and 5 year old and were put in the wrong room. When we got into the correct room the room had an overpowering smell of cigarettes. The air didn’t work, we had a suite room with no extra sheets or blankets for the pullout couch. When I called the desk to bring some up, 45 minutes went by and I had to go get them myself. When I was there I explained how awful the room smelled of smoke and that the air didn’t work. She gave me a fan that I had to take back and clean myself because it was covered in dirt and dust. The soap dispenser in the shower was caked full of dried soap, the metal rack was broke. There was old food in our cabinets and trash from the previous guest. And the icing on the cake … BUGS crawling on the ceiling. We tried to find a different hotel and they were completely booked. I called management and left a message with the hotel, no call back. I called customer care, no issue resolved. Absolutely wouldn’t recommend staying here !!!!
First time staying at this property, its not bad, rooms are clean, but need a deep clean around the edges. Pool was closed for the 2 weeks I was there, just got a shrug when I asked if it was going to open. Staff was very nice, but both rooms needed refills of shower gel / shampoo ect....
My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for the night to break up our trip to Niagara Falls. We stayed in a Queen suite and it was very spacious, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed for the night. The man at the front desk was very nice as well. Overall our stay was perfect and we will definitely be back again.
Positive: The rooms was nice and clean with plenty of space with a large refrigerator/freezer. The bathroom was roomy and was also well cleaned when we arrived. Negative: The staff werent very welcoming and rarely said anything or asked if we needed anything, trash in the halls, the stove top didnt work, the water pressure in the shower was so high it left red marks, the pantry was barley stocked, there was no breakfast.
When I get up to my room there’s dirty laundry outside my door so I go back to make sure it’s really my room then I go inside the room find out the room is also dirty the shower has. Hair in it and stains on the soap holder. I try to get it fixed but hours go by so try to fix it myself and the water in the shower won’t go off and I had to wait till the next day to change room mind you the dirty laundry is till outside my door this whole time. When i finally get a new room. This room smells bad and is also dirty. I can’t go here anymore
Booked a stay at this hotel and checked in around 8pm local time. Made it to the room and found the beds were made-up. Went into the shower to and found there was hair in the bar of soap, the dispensers were empty and it looked like the housekeeping tried to pass off a dirty room as a clean room. We were too scared to sleep in the bed so we went to the front desk to ask for new room, but by the time we made it downstairs (it is now only around 8:15pm) the office was locked, the lights were off, and the front desk operator would not answer any of the phones. EVEN FROM THE ROOM when we tried that. Ended up leaving the hotel and finding better accommodations at a REAL hotel chain. DONT BE TRICKED!!! you may have issues here, too!
Overall, it was a great stay. I brought my dogs, and the staff behind the counter was friendly, they didn’t drill me with pet-related warnings. The only problems we had was that the pool was closed, and our room was out of conditioner in the shower. Minor problem, obviously did not affect my overall opinion. It is definitely good bang for your buck.
We brought our soccer team in for the tournament and booked a block of rooms together, yet all of the families were spread out over the entire hotel - all four floors. We were not close to each other as we had been told. The pool had also been open prior to our stay, but then was marked closed due to COVID during the weekend the team was there. We book our hotels based on a pool, so this was EXTREMELY upsetting to our kids. Theres nothing else to do, so they ended up playing soccer in the parking lot (not really safe, but their only option). Also, not a single person we saw was wearing a mask anywhere in the hotel, so Im not sure how concerned they are about COVID? But apparently, our players, who are already around each other, would have had to worry about getting it in the pool? We just felt like it was a blatant lie, and we got different answers from different people so it was quite obvious they just didnt want us in there. We usually stay at places with breakfast available, but were told that since we have kitchens in our room, if we wanted breakfast items we had to purchase them from their little store. So we ended up at Starbucks for breakfast. Our teammates on lower floors complained of the noise level at night, however we were on the 4th floor and did not hear too much. We were missing toilet paper, paper towels, bath towels, coffee cups, and a reclining chair in our room, but at least the beds were comfortable.
The staff was pleasant, the hotel was average at best. The floors were sticky in our room as well as the 4 other rooms that our friends stayed in that weekend. For the cost I expected a cleaner and more modern setup, everything looked a little rundown and the room was not very clean. It was low value and we wont be booking the hotel again. Sorry.
Shortly after checking in, I found multiple hairs throughout both beds along with a stained pillowcase. There were also hairs in the bathroom sink so I began to question if this room was even cleaned. My refrigerator even had a long hair in it and I can guarantee it was not wiped out from the prior person. I decided to take it upon myself to scrub this room to be sure it was thoroughly cleaned. Despite them promoting a pool, it was closed our whole stay which was why we booked there. We were on a family vacation and that was our back up plan incase it rained which it did for 2 days. The cherry on top was my shower not being able to be shut off. It ran for quite some time waiting for maintenance to arrive which made my room feel like a sauna. I have to say my overall experience here was very disappointing.
Pick Another Place to stay. The room was not clean anywhere. Visible dust and dirt on every surface. Piles of dog hair on the floor. The bed was like sleeping on a hard wood table. The room smelled awful from the previous cooking of some previous tenant. No rooms were available to move to. Instead of crediting us back for the room, as IHG members would expect from such a terrible stay, the clerk informed me that management would only go as low as $50 tax, because I had a roof over my head for the night. The same person checked us in at 11pm and was there for checkout at 9am, and said he had done that schedule for months now, the reason he had just left his resignation. For your own peace of mind, dont stay at this hotel, it would be better to sleep in the car.
Although it was hard to tell which entrance was for this hotel, that was our only problem. They could improve the signage into the hotel. theres no separate entrance for if youre in the mall to get up there. We had to go through one of the other parking lots onto the road and backtrack. But again, the water pressure was unbelievable. The hotel was nice and it was very clean. There was a rip in the duvet on the bed but Im a detailed person so maybe somebody else wouldnt know. There was real dishes in the kitchen and that was nice. Even if youre eating pizza from the box its nice to have a cup to drink out of in a plate to set it on. I thought the coffee could be presented better. Many of us drink more than one cup of coffee in the morning. And the coffee was bitter.
First, I booked a King Suite. Alex called me to let me know that there were no suites that I had selected available, but made sure to find a room to suit my needs. She was also extremely helpful at check in, making sure that everything I had questions about was resolved. The room was actually more than appropriate for me. Very happy with the layout and accommodations. I wish the shower layout was a little better, it does put quite a bit of water on the floor outside the shower. Other than that, its a great room with great people in a pretty good locations. I will be back.
I was disappointed with the conditions of the lobby and room. The lobby hadnt been cleaned and was in the same condition when we left in the morning. The staff was behind in getting rooms ready. Understandable in these times. However I opened the door to the room and I was surprised to see see it in this condition. I was able to see a manager in the hall and brought him in to see what I was seeing. He had someone come right over and start cleaning the floors which were not done. That person went through the whole room and fixed what should have already been done. Including sanitizing and getting towels. Telling us not to use the fridge it wasnt clean. I was floored. This individual fixed everything and then made sure we were completely satisfied. I was grateful for the help.
To sum up:No one manning the counter. Found our keys ON the counter.Vizio tv with an incompatible Motorola remote. Empty shower gell container .Toilet paper roll had an inch of paper. Loud noises above our heads.A very lovely women told me a manager would contact me. Of course, that didnt happen. Just a nasty experience.
The front desk employee was very helpful. However, the pool was not open. In addition the room was not very clean. The kitchen was not supplied adequately. There were two forks, two spoons, and two knives in the room. We did make breakfast in the room. When we went to toast our bread, we discovered that the toaster did not work.
Just left after driving for 9 hours. We checked in, put our stuff in the room, came back and took a good look. Dirty floors and walls in the bathroom. Toilet was not clean. One side of the bed had a deep slope. We turned in the key, told the guy it was a dirty room and kept driving. Wont be back.
I requested first floor and they accommodated me but I was in an accessible room. The bathroom didn’t look too clean.Upon checking in, staff was making a fuss about a room they were cleaning and how gross it was.. so that was uncomfortable. Other guest were noisy and it sounded like someone was tap dancing above my room. The bed was awful, I still have back pain 3 days later. The food pantry was bare. I wanted something quick to put in the microwave and the only thing available was a prepackaged sausage sandwich or onions. I needed a ginger ale for a stomach ache, nine. And no saltine crackers or any crackers for that matter. One employee, every time I saw her in passing had something to complain about.
This is our second time staying at this hotel. Front desk was not very friendly. Room appeared clean but didnt feel clean. I request room on top floor was given 3rd floor right across from the elevator, not the quietest of rooms. The Pantry shop was wiped out and needed to be restocked the two days we were there.
1st impression of hotel wasn’t good as reservation was screwed up but staff quickly remediate the issue. Hotel was very clean and the staff were very friendly. I am a softer bed guy so the comfort of the bed was a little uncomfortable. It helped that I consumed a few beverages with my dinner at the John Russell Brewing Company. The cupboard and the pantry were really convenient and affordable. Thank you for making those item as available. I could sleep as long as possible and throw some breakfast in a microwave on my way to the ErieBank Sports Complex for those early morning games.
There was toilet paper in the toilet when I checked in..The body gel dispenser and shampoo dispenser in the shower were both empty. Hair was sticking out of the air intake of the hair dryer. There were no paper towels on the roll. The sheet was upside down (tag on the top). To top it all off I was going to voice my opinion at checkout, but there was no one at the counter. After waiting 15 minutes I ended up having to leave without a receipt, which my company requires me to turn in. I have traveled weekly for the last 5 years, always staying at IHG properties, and this was one of the worst stays I have had.
Upon arrival was took the room I booked was not available, that the hotel over booked rooms. My family of four was given a single king room, we had to sleep on the floor because they had no cots available. When I asked about a discount because they overbooked and I didn’t get what I booked was told they didn’t have to approval to do so. Tried to enjoy the pool but door lock to pool was broken and the front desk had no way to get in, was told they would place a call, but whomever they called never showed up. Room was dirty, trash cans around the hotel were over flowing with trash. This one the worst hotel stay I have ever had!
The room was clean and there was no noise heard from the room. Easy check-in and check-out. The beds were really hard. I hope IHG will work on making the beds more comfortable. I sleep on my side and woke up with pain from the hard bed. I loved the kitchen and the free popcorn in the room was a nice touch!
We were staying in town overnight. The prices were very high as it was peak season. When we arrived, there was no one at the front desk so we waited about 20 minutes to be checked in. When we got to the room, it smelled so bad it was intolerable. We tried to open the windows, investigate the smell, but there was no way we could sleep there. We contacted the front desk. The front desk staff was polite and did assign us to another room which was more acceptable. Given the number of choices in the area, I would not choose to stay at this property again.
Where to start ..There was toilet paper in the toilet when I checked in. The body gel dispenser and shampoo dispenser in the shower were both empty.
I booked 3 nights for a vacation. I chose this hotel based on the kitchenette and the pool. Paid a bit more, but I thought itd be worth it. My kids were SO EXCITED for the pool. Check in was at 3. We arrived at 12, but the room wasnt ready and that was OK. We came back at 3. Checked in and then I asked wheres the pool? To be told it was closed. I wish I was told at noon when I stopped. I had 3 hours I couldve found somewhere else. I asked if I was locked into staying. I was told if I checked out tomorrow at 11, I wouldnt have to pay the next 2 nights. I was never told I didnt have to stay that night without penalty. So I booked somewhere else for the next 2 nights. I called to speak to the manager after checkout because he wasnt available during checkout and he wouldnt adjust my bill. He said I didnt have to stay that first night, even though the staff implied I did. Switching my family (with 2 young kids) to a different hotel was inconvenient. We should be compensated
This stay was MEH at best. If I was staying more than a night while passing through the area I would have gone elsewhere. The hardwood floors were sticky when we entered, the bathroom sink had hair on it when we got here. The bathroom door didnt close completely. The shower door was a sliding door but when the bottom was closed the top still had a 2 inch+ gap. There was NO SOAP anywhere in the room which is bad especially during a pandemic. We used the shower gel to wash our hands which we had to break into because the pump nozzle on the top was broken. I would not stay here again.
For a quick stay it was ok but way overpriced. Food was not cleaned out of fridge until I said something. Went to the cupboard or store for coffee in the morning and old coffee sitting in cups on counter and no restocking took place of stuff. Miserable front desk staff who didnt even smile or say hi.
This was a nice hotel. It was very clean it smelt like bleach as soon as I opened my door and staff was very friendly. I had forgotten my tooth paste and they did not have any down stair or in the little store that they had, but this was not there fault it was mine, a few other things where that my dead bolt on my door would not lock and me being a women traveling alone I like that added security. One other think I thought was odd was that there was no little bar of soap or anything to wash your hands with at the bathroom sink. Bed was not comfortable but pillows were. All and all it was nice and I would stay again.
I traveled 7300 miles over 4 weeks and stayed in many hotels. This was the worst and the most expensive Candlewood. I tried to find a clean room but most were dirty. Finally, went to my car and got disinfectant and cleaned recliner. Slept there and left early the next morning. Very disappointed, for 200 you should be able to get a clean room.
I am an employee for ihg nod this hotel was unacceptable rooms were filthy bathroom not cleaned at all. Front desk lady was intoxicated and very rude and not a clue what she was doing. Asked for extend reservation she said yes. Well when came back to room keys wouldn’t work. I asked nicely and she was very unprofessional. Asked for managers name or card and she refused to provide me with either instead called herself and walked away. After hanging up, she rudely started getting smart. As an employee of ihg I would be concerned if this was my property. Wouldn’t give this hotel a 1 star
I found a bed bug on one pillow and some blood smeared on another pillow (indicating there was more than one bug) before I decided to sleep my first evening here. Initially, I confused this for a tick and asked Matthew, at the front desk, if I could switch rooms. He sternly said, Well, this is a pet friendly hotel. Even though this is a bed bug and not a tick, that is no excuse for any customer. Lastly, the hotel was nearly empty and he told me there no were other rooms available. Checked out that same night and reserved at Springhill Suites (3 mins away, literally across the street). Much cleaner, better customer service, and less of a ghost town. One thing I can commend is the young lady who refunded me. She was very sweet and understanding.
When we checked in the room seemed fine. However, the next morning when we went to use dishes we found they were dirty. The bowl had caked on food on it. In the shower we found a used soap bar. It looked like the room was not properly cleaned and dishes properly washed.
Hotel is located in a busy area near the Millcreek Mall. Upon arrival we were given a room on the 3rd floor and told to take the elevator. It was not working. Had to take the stairs. When we got to the room, it had not been cleaned. Bed unmade, bathroom dirty, beer cans everywhere. We were given another room, which was nice and clean. Would have liked to use the pool, but it was still closed due to Covid.
Had stayed at another hotel before switching to Candlewood. Accommodated us with an early check in and floor level requested. Staff is friendly and very helpful with anything you need. Matt the Front Office Manager was great. Would definitely stay again out of all the hotels in the area.
We were only here for the weekend, they were flexible with check in. We arrived at 2am and check in took literally 1 minute. The room was great had plenty of room, we had our 2 dogs with us. There was plenty of grassy space to walk the dogs (and it was clean, no dog poop). The snack shop had lots of options for snacks and drinks. The bathroom was a bit dirty, but not horrible. I would stay there again as it is in a great location. It is close to shopping and just about any restaurant you could think of is nearby. The staff was friendly and courteous. The only downfall with the room was the coffee supplies, had a small pot only enough coffee for 1 pot and hardly any sugar and creamer. However there is coffee available in the snack shop. Overall I would say for the price it was worth it, the small fee $75 for the dogs was acceptable as when looking for a place to stay other hotels were asking up to $250. I plan to stay here in the future, my sister lives nearby and now that I have a hotel that I can bring my little dogs to I will visit more often. So, overall good hotel for the money, would recommend.
My stay was horrible they have new staff there that doesn’t know what they are doing and fired all all old staff, the room smell really bad I had mold in my shower and my bed had old dirty sheets And stains on my pillow the room over all was disgusting I do not recommend coming here and I hope this helps u so u don’t waste your money. I’m putting 5 stars for everyone to see .
I have stayed at this hotel, along with many other IHG hotels, multiple times. I tend to travel with my 2 small dogs and have not had a problem in the past. Upon arrival this time, I was notified that I would have to pay a pet deposit per dog which would cost more than my room. I pointed out that the pet policy posted online states that 2 small dogs, up to 40 pounds, are allowed per room for a fee of $75 and that per dog is not listed and that I have never paid per dog at any IHG hotel that I have stayed at. The woman working the front desk rudely informed me that I was wrong and then after agreeing since I had already been on the road for 9hrs that day she then started asking me if my dogs would be a problem or would be barking. As previously stated, I have traveled with my dogs multiple times and have never felt so unwelcome in an IHG hotel before. This has become my preferred hotel when traveling from Fort Drum, NY to TN; but now I will have to consider alternative arrangements in the future since I will not be paying double fees that cost more than my room and especially not to be treated so rudely.
The suite I stayed in was a nice size had a full-size refrigerator and lots of cabinets but there were only two large plates and two small plates two forks etc. so it was difficult to make a meal and only one of the burners worked on the cooktop. We brought this to the attention of the staff but it was not resolved. We had to approach the front deskFor hand soap and toilet paper. The alarm clock was Not lit and we couldn’t see it in the evening so we asked at the front desk and maintenance came and told us none of the alarm clocks lit up. So it was a mixed bag of experience. The pool was not accessible to the guests But the front desk staff were friendly and polite
Where to begin...Checked in to the hotel. Went to the room they gave me. The bed was disheveled and the pillows looked like someone had been sitting on them. So being in a pandemic I didn’t feel comfortable being in the room. I went down to speak to the front desk and he said I will go upstairs and look. The right thing for him to do should’ve been to offer me another room no questions asked. The parking lot was empty so obviously they were not sold out. When he came back down, he told me the room is fine and that the housekeeper just didn’t do her best to make it esthetically pleasing. (?????) So I said “Since we are in a pandemic I don’t feel comfortable and I would like a different room. He said “well they will probably all look like that.” And then proceeded to check the rooms acting as if they were so busy they might not have another one. But he gave me another room. This room was a bit better. (Both rooms had the cupboard doors open for some reason). When I went into the bathroom to take a shower there was a dirty wet rag hanging on the shower curtain rod! I’m am definitely not a picky person usually, but since we are in a global pandemic you would think they would be putting extra time and care into the cleanliness of the hotel. Apparently not. Won’t be staying here again and I advise anyone who is worried about catching covid not to stay here either.
Positive: The hotel allowed children to run crazy all night even after calling the front desk! The manager would not even read my letter about my dog and ask what service the ESS dog provided its illegal to ask and hotel employee threatened to call the police if I Negative: The ignorance of the management and how the garbage was piled up that you couldn¿t get to the elevator they needed a dumpster, the bed killed our backs and I signed quiet time was 24 hrs but they had zero control over noise and kids running hallways
Arrived to hair and stains on sheets, stain on floor that resembled a dog having the runs, and black mold throughout the shower. Front desk in the morning, offered additional points for the inconvenience (I used points to book weekend). To date I have not received said points. Completed standard survey I get after every stay (137 nights so far), and indicated that I would like management to contact me. I have not heard from anyone almost one month later.
Nice new hotel check in was fast and easy. Rooms where nice and big clean. How ever I didn’t have any silverware or a phone in my room, and when I told the guy at the front desk he only brought me silverware but other than that is a nice hotel would be nice if they had a place to drive under to unload and load your luggage I had to load in the pouring rain.
I can only assume that with CV19, they were short staffed. However, when paying a lot of money to stay here, thats no excuse. The room was dirty, there was gunk on the walls, against on the towels, the toilet paper appeared to have been dropped in (the toilet?) water, the tile was sticky, and the ac/ thermostat didnt work. Very disappointed!
This is the second IHG hotel Ive stayed in recently that was a major disappointment. I only booked it because of the promotions offered - I wont stay here again. My issues: When I arrived there was no luggage rack available. Front desk clerk reported that there was only 1 for the entire hotel, and the previous guest had taken it - he wasnt interested in helping me find it - I went to every floor - no luck. I made 4 trips to my car and up to my room on the 4th floor to bring in my luggage and groceries. I called customer care to report this, they contacted management and I was told via a phone call to my guest that they couldnt help me - I was never contacted directly. The fully equipped kitchen had exactly 1 spoon, no kitchen linens, and no sink stopper. I was eventually given 2 spoons and went to the desk for kitchen towels/dishcloth. The outlets for electrical appliances were very difficult - they have some kind of a stopper that makes plugging anything in almost impossible. I went to the front desk to ask about this - the clerk said yeah, theyre weird. The bathroom ceiling was peeling paint. The tub was chipped. The tub didnt drain correctly - I reported this and someone came to fix it - but it was no better afterward. The gym isnt open. The hotel is difficult to access unless you come in from Peach street - there is only one entrance, and getting to it from any other place is very round-about.Despite having status and having stayed in a number of IHG hotels, I cant seem to get my hotel receipt emailed to me.I will say that housekeeping was super helpful - anything that we asked a housekeeper for, they were happy to provide. Only bright spot in my stay.
I am still learning my way around Erie since I relocated to PA. There was so much snow and was on foot in a not too familiar part of Erie. I mostly stopped in to ask a question about another hotel location because I was lost! Before I knew it, I was filling out an application based on a position I was applying for! God works in mysterious ways sometimes, and there are wonderful ladies and men that helped me Thursday afternoon. This is a beautiful looking hotel lobby. I wasnt taking pictures because I was asking questionsand writing too.😀😉😀
We had made a reservation for a room via booking.com a few days in advance. On the day we were in route to the hotel, we had missed the call from the hotel to notify us that the room we had book (King bed suite)was not available and hadnt been available for some time - the employee stated it was simply an error on the site. While disappointed, we accepted the studio room with two queen beds. *Full disclaimer, we tried other nearby hotels, but no one had availability.Once checked in, we were informed that the luggage cart was broken - apparently, they have ONE luggage cart for the ENTIRE hotel. The woman at the front desk informed us that the part was ordered and they were awaiting for it to arrive! Since the luggage cart was out of service, we were provided a malfunctioning yellow laundry cart on wheels to put our luggage in. There is no overhang/canopy that is found over the front door at most hotels or a convenient ramp to wheel the awful laundry cart we were provided. You have to use the handicap ramp off to the side in the parking lot area, as shown in photos.Upon arriving to our floor, we were greeted by a dark hallway. For whatever reason, numerous ceiling lights were off/not working throughout the building. This unkept appearance continued in to our room. The floor title was dirty, the white bedding had mysterious black streaks across it, questionable dirt marks on the walls, etc.we were not provided with enough bath towels, so we had to call down to the front desk to request more. An employee did promptly bring up more towels for us on the first night. However, when we requested new towels the following night, the female employee that answered our call, stated that the towels were in the dryer and as soon as they were finished theyd bring them right up to us. ALL towels in the hotel were in rooms , dirty or in the dryer!?!!! Apparently, there were no clean towels available at 8:30pm. Needless to say, we never received the clean towels that we requested. As other reviewers have mentioned, the entrance from the main highway to the hotel is poorly placed. There is a jersey barrier diving the highway near the entrance. You must make a U-turn at the next light to get to the property. On a positive note - the FEW employees we did interact with during our stay were friendly. With that being said, should we need a room in Erie again, well stay elsewhere!
Hotel in great condition. My family enjoyed our stay. We particularly liked the pool area/ fitness room, great location for Erie, right off of peach street and it was generally quiet.. Our room was clean, pillows soft and kitchenette well stocked. We missed having a free breakfast though but food was available at a cost. Some things that could be improved - only 3 towels were Provided for my family of 4 for two nights and towels in pool area were never stocked. Trash cans in hallway and pool area were not changed daily and over flowing. Front desk was typically empty unless you waited a few minutes until someone came out of the back room. Our needs were always met upon request. Maintenance staff were nice and efficient.
My husband and I used this hotel for a short break during a day of shopping, doctor appointments and beach time, and we were very impressed with everything for the price! We even napped because the bed and pillows were so comfy. Although we didnt even use some of the amenities, we were impressed with the style and cleanliness of everything. We especially liked the cupboard selection and kitchenette, so we can bring the kids next time and have all we need right in the hotel. There was also a nice desk for anyone needing to do work. Excellent service too.
I normally dont do reviews, but felt compelled to in this case. We made reservations weeks in advance for a weekend getaway to my hometown. Got to the hotel at 730pm and our room wasnt ready.. the staff was friendly and offered to get me into another room right away. Upon getting to our new room, the door was wide open. Dirty rags on the counter and a water bottle left on the night stand. We walked right back down to the front desk and explained what we saw. They apologized and offered to find us another comparable room.Got the key to a new room. Same situation. Door was propped open. I knocked and no one answered. I opened the door and walked in. This room was cleaner, but it appeared that someone had been laying in the bed recently. With all of the COVID stuff going on, we dont want to stay in a room that was open and appeared that someone had recently laid in the bed. We walked down and explained this to them AGAIN. The staff apologized and was scrambling to find a new room for us. I asked to speak to the manager. She was nowhere to be found for about 15 minutes. When she finally was available, she did apologize and offered to discount my stay and put me in another room. The 3rd room worked; however, I went from a Queen bed to a double bed for 2 adults. I dont feel this was a discount for the trouble, rather a cost adjustment for a lesser room. We made the most of it since it was only a weekend stay. While I have no problem with the staff, the hotel was a disaster. Its a new hotel. Lights flickering in the hallway, trash bags piled up outside the elevator on the 2nd floor hallway, and a dog barking in the hotel next to us in the morning. I understand the COVID situation has put these businesses in a tight spot, but not having ones room cleaned daily seems absurd. We were told they are down to cleaning rooms 1 time during a customers stay. Not at all what I expected. Ill stay elsewhere when I visit the area.
When we arrived there were no carts for our luggage - we were told they were being fixed (all carts at the same time...?). Went to take a shower - no wash clothes - no shower gel - no conditioner - thankfully I was with my husband and he got me a wash cloth. Asked for replacements was given a bottle that said shampoo - the girls at the desk said they ran out of bottles and it was actually shower gel - I checked and it was the exact same as the bottle in our bathroom marked shampoo so pretty sure it was shampoo - thankfully we bring a small bar of soap with us just in case. The bathroom was not cleaned properly - there was still a salon pas label by the toilet and the bottom of the toilet didnt look like it was cleaned in months. There were no tags for the door to let staff know there was a dog in the room and a woman came to clean our room as she thought we were checking out and she was scared to death. We used the stove once - then it just stopped working - we did not report this as it was our last night there. The AC was ALL or none - had to keep the temp at 60 degrees (which was too cold) or you got no AC at all. Light over the desk/table did not work. There was a young man at the desk and he was very nice very professional and very helpful. The rooms are put together well - equipped with all necessities but needs to work on their issues.
Overall, it was a fine hotel. It was clean enough but not spotless. It could use a good dusting. Housekeeping never checked in or changed towels but were were able to change them at the front desk. (This may be standard, Im not sure...I just would have liked the room to be freshened up at some point seeing as I didnt travel with cleaning supplies.)The service was nice and everyone was professional and kind. It was really nice to have a kitchen.
We were told we had a King Size bed, but it was a double bed. The room didnt appear very clean. No soap in the bathroom. No coffee or other items for the coffee maker. Only one dish in the cupboard - but a second dish was supplied on request.Nothing terrible - just not that great
My husband and I greeted very nicely by the staff. Our room was ready and very clean. The kitchenette was very nice with dishes, toaster and coffee Maker. The bed and pillows were comfortable. We just stayed 1 night because we were traveling but it would been nice to stay longer. We enjoyed very much.
Rooms should be a little cleaner. They have a clean appearance but when you start looking at things carefully you notice the filth. For example, the carpet was clean but than you move the recliner chair and there is food all underneath it. Nice that there was a kitchen but again the pans and plates were still wet. People who worked there are really nice though and it is dog friendly.
There were some plus sides. We got to check in early and the room was made and looked good on the surface. Had a real issue that none of the staff, especially at the desk, ever wore a mask. There are plenty of signs indicating people need to wear them but that apparently was just for guests and not workers. Also found a half used bottle of lotion in the bathroom and a used wash cloth on top of the shower. I’d pick another IHG property when staying in Erie PA this place isn’t managed well.
The hotel overall is fine. We came after a team of young men had been there and therefore there was not a lot of food available in the pantry. The rooms were spacious and clean. The beds were a bit firm and pillows too firm for my liking. The bathroom we had only had a shower and very outdated for being a newer hotel. Convenient to the highway however. The staff was very friendly and tried to help when we had noticed someone was smoking on our floor and we are allergic to smoke.
While I will say the room is clean, the bed is horribly uncomfortable. It felt like they put sheets over a box spring and called it good. Difficult to get out of (must do a Uturn at the light) to get into town and leave. I typically love Candlewood Suites but would not be staying at this one again due to the uncomfortable room and difficulty of access.
The room was very dirty. For example, there was a sticky substance on the floor in the kitchen area. I had to wash the floor, and the towel I used to cleanwas filthy afterwards. The coffee maker did function properly, and about half the lights in the hallway were out. In addition, staff and some people staying at the hotel were not wearing masks. I would upload photos, but the file size is too large
I stayed in Eries Candlewood Suites, located right at the Millcreek Mall area, for a volunteer event. I could not have been more pleased. The propertys manager, Angela B., checked me in personally with a warm and professional greeting, as well as a bottle of drinking water. She ensured that every detail of my 2-night stay was perfect. The large room (an upgrade, courtesy of the property) including the bath and kitchen areas, was absolutely spotless (and I am a clean freak). The bed was comfortable with enough pillows and covers. Heating/AC was fine, and quiet enough to sleep well. Bath was well-ventilated with fan and there were lots of fresh towels. My stay was quiet; even though the hotel is on a busy road near the Mall entrance, I did not hear the traffic at all. The room was lovely, its a newer facility and quite pretty. I was able to get a lot of work done on my laptop at the sizable work space in my room; and also I had a couple of light meals prepared in the the pretty little kitchenette. There is tons of shopping nearby, including a fabulous Wegmans super market, so meals were easy. This is a great property with hospitable hosts; its well-located and priced reasonably. Do try this hotel when business or leisure brings you to Erie!
There was no soap. Front desk said they were short on soap. Went to take a shower and no shower gel. Front desk said dont know how to refill that , have to wait for housekeeping to come in tomorrow. There was hair in the shower. Very little toilet paper. Went to turn on light next to bed and there was no light bulb. Cant believe that someone would think this room was ready for check in. Have stayed here before and it was fine. Dont know what happened!
Staff is pleasant. However, when we arrived in our first room there was hair in our shower, and we requested a move to a new room. Then room key wouldn’t work on the second room. My wife noticed that it is well advertised that housekeeping does not regularly clean or turn down the room except but “weekly”. Should you need clean towels before the weekly cleaning, you must exchange them at front desk by request only. Further evidence of only weekly cleaning is evident by the piles or garbage bags and towels in hallways over the 3 days we visited. The refrigerator had orange stains in it and was filthy. The bathtub in room two also had red rings and black spots on tub, also there was only one roll of toilet paper. Finally it was nearly impossible to understand how to get into the hotel parking lot.
Everything was great. My sons and I just came up for one night to go to Presque Isle State Park. Its a trip we like to take a couple times a year. This was our first stay at a Candlewood Suites and we were not disappointed. The hotel was clean and the staff was amazing. We will definitely be back.
The door sign says no mask no service when we walked in the front desk lady had no mask and her lighter was laying on the counter. Our first room was dirty there was food right beside the bed so we got a second room and it was still filthy when we said something to the front Dess lady she says she personally cleaned it and knew that she had clean the sheets so we didn’t have a choice. There was no hand soap no body wash and no conditioner when we asked for hand soap she said they are all out of it. I’m not sure how we’re in a pandemic and you can run out of hand soap or how that’s even acceptable. We only had one washcloth for the bathroom my husband had to use a sink washcloth. The building just look like it was getting run down which wasn’t a huge deal for me but like lights were out places the hallways were dark not all the lights were on and it just added to everything else that was wrong with our stay.
This hotel staff is disfunctional. We ordered a suite online and they gave away the room to someone else. Then they tried to say wait, we can get you set up in the best western across town with the same suite. So that sounds agreeable. We drive there only to be turned away. Details matter in hotel service and well....Dont give away peoples rooms. Dont send them somewhere theyre going to be turned away from.Avoid this place.
This is the second time in the past few months I have stayed at this location and cant be any more pleased. I was greeted by the same gentleman Wednesday evening, as I was during my last stay. A true gentleman and very helpful.I love the location of this hotel and the price is more than reasonable.Generally the rooms are clean, but I do find that there is dirt and dust in the corners, I dont think the cleaning staff just take that little extra effort to get in these places.I will definitely stay at this location again. Anyone staying here could not possibly be disappointed.
We arrived late while on our way travelling south. Previous reviews I read described the driveway as difficult to find with construction in the area. This was correct and I had to drive around a second time. Better signage is required. The hotel is extremely well situated close to shopping, entertainment and food. The night shift clerk was a very pleasant young man and very helpful. The room was spacious, clean (except bathroom floor), quiet and well equipped. We had an amazing rest and got up in the morning and left. Staff were all very friendly in the morning.I highly recommend this hotel and I will be back again.
All in all a decent hotel. The staff was accommodating and friendly. The room was clean. The bathroom was clean but recently remodeled and there were piles of tile grout caked in the corners. Tile mud was dripped and dried on the tub. Also, instead of little bottles of shampoo and bars of soap, the shower had large hand pumps with shower gel, conditioner, and shampoo; Two out of the three were empty. Lastly, the pool was closed for maintenance both days I stayed. We passed up lesser priced options in favor of this hotel because of the pool.
Everything was very clean and the staff were respectful. The cupboard is a smart idea and we were able to use items whenever they were available. There wasnt really a place to sit, except at the table/desk. But that wasnt a deal breaker for us. One of the grills on the patio was broken and the other was out of propane, so we had to wait to use that. Overall, it was a decent hotel and we would probably stay there again
Our family of 4 stayed here for a quick weekend getaway to Erie. We checked in Friday evening, spent all day Saturday at Splash Lagoon and Sunday at Presque Isle. This hotel was in a great location and we were able to get to all our travel destinations quickly. The staff was very friendly, the room smelled great and it was a nice set up for us. There were a few things wed tweak - condition of the room could have been better. There were wear and tear marks on the walls, excess caulking along the seams and corners. We also were only given enough towels for 3 even though we reserved our room with the details there would be 4 of us. The hotel pool is not heated - it was freezing which was a bummer for my two little ones who were so excited to get in. Overall we would probably stay here again since it was the best value for the price compared to other options, and it was a good stay in general.
Stayed a couple of nights with my bff. Beds were comfy. The heat in the room initially wasnt working, it was 60 until WE were able to reset the heater. (We were told that the maintenance worker would be in the next day to look at it)The thermostat did nothing. The DVD player was also broken, my bff and I were planning to binge watch but then couldnt. We also initially didnt have a remote for the DVD player. They brought us one but it still didnt work. We were then told that the maintenance person wouldnt be in until Monday (on Saturday evening). We were leaving the next day on Sunday.
The place sucked it was not what it was actually promoted to be by the web site that was used to book it and we had issues with the rooms we were given. we had problems with the first room and they were able to give us a different room but we found out that one had issues also so we cut our trip short and came home
Stay was ok. Had a few hiccups. No toilet paper in the room, no soap or body wash in the shower. Had to go downstairs twice. Toilet was running when arrived. Who knows how long it was going on. Had to take cover off and reattach the flapper valve. Manager was good and helpful.
Get in our room and there is no soap for the sink. Go to front desk and they said they are short on soap. Also in room almost no toilet paper and had to ask for more. Try to take a shower and the container with the shower gel is empty. Front desk again doesn’t know how to change it and says wait till morning. We were leaving early so that doesn’t work. Try to turn on bedside lamp and look there is no light bulb. The guy at the front desk is pleasant but clueless. Also there was hair in the shower. Stayed here before and it was never like this. No hurry to come back
I am a rewards member and have been having a great experience until this one. No conditioner in the bottle, no Kleenex, and the table was so sticky and dirty it wasnt funny. Youd think after being closed for so long the room would have been stocked and pristine. Its not like theyre booked solid. I was very disappointed and would recommend this chain be dropped from the rewards group.
This hotel has only one entrance. It is on a divided highway and is very inconvenient to get to. My room had a moldy/musty smell. The hotel is also a non-smoking facility, but smelled of stale cigarette smoke all through the hallways. There was an empty water pitcher in the refrigerator from the previous guest that was not emptied or washed by housekeeping. The bathroom floor was dirty. No washcloths in the bathroom. This would be a nicer hotel if the housekeeping staff was trained to do a better job. I probably won’t stay at this location again due to the inconvenient entrance/exit. If your coming from one direction you’ll be fine but coming from the other you have to jump through hoops to get to the hotel.
I stayed at this hotel over the Christmas holiday and during the snowmageddon event (60 inches). The staff was amazing in every way...friendly, helpful, nice. The rooms were large, clean, comfortable. The hotel is newer so it is up to date and conveniently located. I checked out after my 3rd night and went to stay at a friends house. I was out to dinner with friends when one of the girls who worked the front desk saw me and came over to say hello. I just cant say enough about how nice the staff was!!!I highly recommend this hotel!!! Great location, easy access to both I-79 and I-90, next to Millcreek Mall. Clean, new.
Hotel was a pleasant surprise. We stayed here (thankfully) for a wedding which was in town. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly. Our rooms were ready early as requested. Even though the hotel was full it was very quiet. Rooms were ample, nice showers and comfy furniture and beds. So no complaints. Pool was small but we did not use. Exercise room seemed nice but did not use. Complimentary coffee was very nice.
First off, great customer relations from starting the reservation to check-out.The location of the hotel is great! Convenient to restaurants and shopping. The interstate is also right there if you need. The ease of getting on the interstate, made things much easier the morning we needed to be at Hamot Hospital. The hotel was very clean both inside and out. The lobby and common spaces were nicely decorated. The guest suites were very spacious, nicely decorated, and very clean. The kitchenette was a very nice bonus. The bedding was comfortable and the rooms were quiet allowing for a good nights sleep.I have already recommend this hotel to friends. We plan on staying here again in June when we need to go to Hamot Hospital again. This was a great hotel with exceptional staff.
Our group of four stayed in two rooms on two occasions, a week apart. The first visit, overall, was excellent. Staff, room, cleanliness and service was great. No issues. We stayed on the 2nd floor. The second visit, one week later, was mixed. We were given rooms on the 4th floor. The staff at the desk was great. He offered to help us with our luggage since the luggage carts were nowhere to be found. He was a very pleasant young man. But the rooms on the forth floor seem to have had little recent attention. We stayed in rooms 421 and 414. As examples of items not quite right: A towel on the floor in the bathroom on the floor behind the door. An open used bar of soap in the shower stuck to the soap tray. The dishwasher with clean dished in it not put away. The hallway elevator lobby had towels and garbage bags laying on the floor. Let me say, there was nothing major wrong with our stay but it was unexpected since our first stay experience was great. We are just letting management know that there was an issue that you might want to review with the cleaning staff. Thank you
The room was very nice, loved that their were 2 sets of curtains so I was able to decide how much light I wanted in. The shower was large and had wonderful water pressure. The bed was comfortable and the sheets made the sleep better. TV was in a nice spot, as to not keep me awake as my boyfriend watched TV before bed. We used the pool once and all the windows in the room were open (obviously very cold in Erie in March).. the filter hadnt been turned on so we only stay in a few minutes because it was cold. I loved the idea of the borrowing cupboard, and it was nice to have laundry on site, although we had not used it. Stayed here for an anniversary getaway and we were pleased with our stay.
In town for the Erie Marathon and booked a room here. The customer service was great. Sam was super nice. He was extremely helpful and fast getting us checked in. Room was big. We had our own kitchenette and queen size bed. The bed didn’t seem like a true size queen. Our room was on the first floor near the check in counter so it was easy to hear all traffic in and out of the building. Room was clean. The tv was mounted in a very odd spot and on an choice of a TV mount. More or less the TV could only be watched from the bed if you had your head turned and it was also mounted tilted up with no way to adjust. Only thing I wasn’t a fan of was my request for a late checkout wasn’t even considered. It was like the decision was already made. The hotel was full and to my understanding was booked by 80% or Runner’s also in town for the marathon. We were just told that a late check out wasn’t allowed because the cleaners wouldn’t be able to accommodate all the late check outs and get the rooms turned over. I get it but I also don’t. You guys knew a big race would be in town - why not put more cleaners on later shifts to make up for it. I honestly normally wouldn’t care but when you have a 10 hr drive ahead of you after racing such a long race it would have been nice to shower. Like I said though, sam was super professional and very accommodating in any other way. If you’re in town and need a spot to say - this should definitely be one on your radar. It’s right near the mall and tons of other shopping and food. Highway is right down the road. Good location. Good value. Clean. Friendly staff.
I wanted to try a new hotel in Erie I have children that go to college in the area. I booked for two nights at the hotel not realizing there was not breakfast service. The front desk was staff was pleasant enough, my room was a queen studio sweet very spacious. I noticed a bag on the counter and wondered if it a welcome gift . However staff told me it was from a guest that had stayed 2 weeks ago. The room was clean as far as I could tell but that’s still a little disturbing that it was as left there. Overall my stay was pleasant if u need an extended stay hotel and I would recommend it. Just remember you will either need to cook your own breakfast or go out.
Rooms were clean and well designed. Very comfortable. But staying onthw aide of the hotel closest to the road , you will not get any sleep. Everything inthe room shakes when a truck or speeding car goes by. I did not.Staff was friendly and helpful. They should put a limit on kids in the fitness room. I wanted to work out but a lady had all her kids in there like it was a play room while she was working out on the phone.
Manager said she was going to respond with 15,000 bonus points to my program. It was a bag of potato chips eaten on the floor, it was a wash rag in between my sheets, and a plastic round thing with the metal sticking out of it on the floor. Again the manager said she was going to take care of this. It was not. The front desk did a good job giving extra towels
I have stayed here many times. Always very satisfied with the accomadations and staff. After check out the last stay, I realized that I had left some items hanging in the closet. I phoned the front desk and was informed the clothing had already been collected by the maintenance man and the desk attendant and placed in safe keeping, awaiting my return. My only requests would be the option of a firm pillow and a Keurig in the kitchen, rather than the mini drip coffee maker.
We really enjoyed the kitchen feature and the fact that its pet-friendly. The facility is really new hence everything was very clean. It was quiet and the staff was friendly during our stay. Especially highly recommended if you are looking for a pet-friendly hotel since good ones can be hard to find. Id still highly recommend this hotel even if you dont have pets.
The hotel looks to be a newer property. It is well kept and clean. There was a very small amount of red bacteria/mold in the corner of the shower floor but everything else was spotless. The front desk staff are awesome; they even helped me correct a mistake I made by booking the wrong date and didnt charge me any penalty as I was staying the next night (I didnt catch the guys name but the male night clerk was very understanding). TIP: During construction, turn into the mall parking lot, drive slightly past the back of the hotel. There is a driveway that leads out the street just beside the hotel which you can then access the hotel parking lot by turning right.
We were in town touring colleges and this hotel was perfect! The location served well as it was in the middle of the various colleges we toured as well as being centrally located to the mall, restaurants, grocery store and highway. Although the lobby appeared as though it was being renovated, the rooms were beautiful, spacious and quiet. The staff member that initially greeted me upon arrival was more than friendly and accommodating and willing to help with information about the colleges and the surrounding area. I would definitely recommend this property to others, as well as plan to use it again for future visits to the area. Thank you for a great stay!
Bed was comfortable and we got a good nights sleep. The room got a little stuffy but because the window opens, we did not have to turn on the air conditioner. It would have been helpful to have a small bar of soap at the bathroom sink so we could wash our hands. Overall the stay was relaxing. Would use this hotel again.
I was in town to see a comedy show. The hotel was conveniently located near the shopping area, so I could get a few last minute things (like a jacket since it turned out to be a little chilly). The hotel itself is very nice and spotless. I was greeted warmly and checked in very quickly. My room was very spacious and had everything you could want— it was better than some apartments I’ve lived in. Wasn’t there long enough to check out the rest of the facilities, but I’m sure they are as excellent as the rooms.
The staff was friendly and the hotel was very safe and clean. It was easy to book an hour before we got there since we were traveling to somewhere else and didnt know where we were stopping until then. The only thing they could improve was that there was no free breakfast.
This is a beautiful hotel! We utilized the pool, the weight room, the back patio, and purchased items from your well stocked pantry. We didn’t need to borrow items from your borrow corner but the items looked nice. The room was PERFECT! Clean, roomy, well stocked. Plus, we brought our dog and appreciated the available doggy bags near the back of the hotel to pick up waste. If it was just for these experience I would give the hotel very high ratings. My only concern which may cause me not to return is the lack of cleaning over the evening and night. We returned from a long day out on Saturday to find piles of sheets and blankets in the hallway. Not sure if the cleaning personnel forgot it on Saturday after cleaning but the next morning (sunday) the piles were still there. Additionally, overnight someone got sick (vomited) in the elevator and 1st floor elevator entrance. I almost gagged seeing the vomit on Sunday morning at 8 am. I told the front desk and they indicated the cleaning crew was due in an hour and would clean it up. We checked out at 1030 and the vomit hadn’t been cleaned up.Lastly there were large bags of trash left overnight Saturday in our hallway near the elevator. When we left at 1030 am Sunday more trash was piled up.Not sure if I would come back to this one again.
The establishment was well maintained and the room was nice and clean. The beds are cheap and uncomfortable however, and the front desk usually does not have someone available. All three times I went to the desk, there was a sign that said assisting another guest, will return shortly. Which would be fine, except he was standing outside in the smoking area talking with someone.
This hotel is in a great location, close to the highway. There was some construction, but nothing that would deter us from leaving a bad review. Check in was easy and fast. The rooms are spacious, we had a 1 bedroom King suite. We had our 2 daughters, and that gave us privacy from them to sleep. The kitchen is fully stocked, even though we didnt make use of ours. Its close to Waldameer Water park. Id say about 10-15 minutes.
We had a dog on our floor, they let us change rooms. The room had lighting issues so they switched us again, but that room had lighting problems also. Staff was great and upgraded us for the problems, but we received the wrong room. Manager then double upgraded us and personally made sure everything was right with our room and walked us to it. Highly recommend and would stay again.
Was a great place to stay. Just a little confusing at first on how to get to the hotel from the road. The pool was out of order one day so that was a let down for the kids. Need a hot tub added would be nice for the adults. The staff was great and welcoming and helpful. They welcomed the soccer team well. Also highlighted the teams welcome on their dry erase board.
Overall the hotel was nice. It was clean. I stayed there primarily because I was transporting fish back to Ohio from Boston and needed a good freezer during my overnight stay. This was achieved. However, I have never stayed in a hotel where there were not shampoo, lotion and conditioner in the bathroom. I had to rummage through my suitcase and fortunately had some from a previous stay. Otherwise, I would stay at this hotel in the future.
The location of Hotel is great a little hard to find entrance Im guessing due to road construction. The hotel is really nice pool area workout room really nice. Only down fall I found was the bed was very hard and uncomfortable and the water temperature in shower was hard to regulate. The room layout is great and the little kitchen is a nice bonus. Would love to stay again but the hard bed and shower is a big deterrent
We have never stayed at a Candlewood Suite before. It was a little more pricey than we are used to paying but I believe we got what we paid for. From the first greeting by our check in clerk, who was very thorough in giving us all the information we needed to the quick and efficient check out, we really enjoyed our stay. It was our grandsons first time ever sleeping in a hotel and he really enjoyed the swimming pool and the large, comfortable bed. I enjoyed using the treadmill while my grandson, husband and son in law used the pool. My daughter used the treadmill the next day.
Weve stayed a few times before even though its a bit difficult to get in and out of this location, but we were on a very tight schedule on those occasions, so really only needed a clean bed to collapse in at night. This time we arrived early enough to enjoy the stay. We were greeted with a young man who didnt seem to know what he was doing at the front desk. He was pleasant, but somewhat incompetent. He failed to recognize me as an IHG member or offer amenity points. It went downhill from there, The room was clean, but there was no laundry bag. I returned to the front desk to ask for a laundry bag and was handed a very small shopping bag, which apparently doubles as an ice bucket at this hotel. I decided to check out the corner cupboard, have a snack, and stay in for the evening. What a disappointment! The cupboard was sparse . . . out of several items. Drove down the road to a market because there was so little to choose from. Imagine my surprise when I walked to the counter and saw another hotel guest had made the same decision. We chatted about the cupboard being bare, We slept OK, but was a bit noisy. May stay again if all we need is a clean bed, but may check out other options next time.
Just a wonderful place to stay. Easy to get to. Many attractions near by. Room has everything - comfortable bed, kitchen area stocked just right, comfortable desk for work area. Great shower with comp shampoo, conditioner etc. T.V. is large size. Everything always works at this place. Great Staff! GM Lisa is the best!
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is new and has modern amenities. the room is large and felt like a small apartment. Ample counter top and a half of a wall for ease of working after hours. Solid Wi-Fi connection and speed. Plenty of near by restaurants within walking distance. Pool is small, but ample for little kids and Lake Erie is nearby. Good hotel for the money.
We loved our recent stay at this hotel. The front desk staff were efficient and had our reservations ready at their finger tips when we arrived.Large recently updated rooms with comfortable beds made our stay pleasant. The only complaint I have is that there was no bathtub - just a shower. But it was a nice roomy shower.
My husband and I stayed at Candlewood prior to my having a hospital procedure the following day. It was important that we have a room with a recliner and that we have a safe and quiet environment. Candlewood provides us with all we need at a price we can afford. We will be back.
The hotel has improved by leaps and bounds since my last visit. It didnt take long for them to get through the grand opening pains.I had a number of issues on my last visit and it looks like management responded where possible. The rooms are spacious and clean. The common areas are well designed. The front desk staff was fine but not enthusiastic. The location is a little tough but once you know your way around its fine. I can see myself staying here more often. Try it! Nice place!
Rooms and grounds are kept extremely clean. Nice sized room with kitchen and full bath. Great internet access. Friendly staff. Facilities seem to be well kept; however, we didn’t use them (pool, gym, mini-store, etc). There’s only one entrance/exit on the property that is connected to a very busy highway. They definitely need another way to get in and out...preferably into the mall lot.
We requested early check in on my room preferences when booking the hotel, yet the room was still not ready at the regular check in time of 3pm. Our room door did not lock easily. It would shut and appear to be locked; luckily, I checked it to find that it was not locked. It required hard pulling on the outside to lock it. The front desk said they had never heard of this before, so I wonder how many people leave their room assuming it is locked? We were granted a late checkout since we were delayed getting into our room and after being out for the morning the door was unlocked. As the cleaning staff was not informed of our late check out nor did they know how to shut the door to ensure, it locks after they opened our door while we were out. There were no forks or spoons in our room only four knives, and the front desk had no forks or spoons, not even plastic. What good is a room with a dishwasher, stove and pots if there is no silverware to be had? We were very unimpressed with all of the staff we interacted with, with the exception of Michelle. Michelle seemed to genuinely care and want to correct problems; she just did not have the resources to do so. The other staff seemed not to care and didn’t want to put any effort into solving problems. Two of our bath towels and one washcloth had large noticeable brown spots … they are white towels, bleach should be used to clean them if necessary or they should be disposed of. The pool was also disgusting; you could see a film of oil on the surface and so much hair floating. It did not appear to have adequate circulation of the water to clean it. The pool deck was also very dirty, with trash scattered around and dark spots in the tiles. There was a mostly used roll of toilet paper in use in our room when we arrived, and the roll under the sink only had two times around the cardboard. There were no full rolls, but our other attempts at getting things from the front desk failed so much that we just used tissues for the rest of our time. Lack of soundproofing between floors. No trash can outside of the bathroom. Overall, we were not impressed.
The bed had hair in it. The curtains did not close all the way street lights shown through the window. The wifi was spotty. No crib for babies. The staff was friendly. The lending locker came in handy. The complimentary tea was nice but the cupboard had not so good food choices. Grounds and building were clean and up to date.
I slept terrible but my husband slept good. Bed was to hard for me. I asked for late check out and when I returned Saturday after normal checkout my room keys didnt work. Had to return to the front desk and remind them I had late check out. Was not greeted as a reward member until Friday when I notice a sticker on my room door. I loved the room size it was huge, clean and very nicely decorated.Sorry I will not stay here again unless it is my only choice. Not a good value.
When I entered the guest bathroom there was a dirty rag hanging over the curtain rod. Stiff and dry. I travel weekly and expect to do a little extra room prepping so I carry bleach wipes. The kitchenette area was filthy. I used four wipes to get a wipe that wasn’t brown when done. I cleaned the bathroom counter and common areas. This only required two wipes. I wiped down the desk area with one wipe and the bedside tables and lamps with a wipe for each side. There were dishes, in particular a glass and a bowl, in the cabinet that had food on them. The carpet in the common halls was filthy, was only vacuumed once in our two week stay. Daily there was trash by the elevators and in the halls, this is disgusting. I have stayed at other Candlewoods which provided a higher quality experience.
My wife and i had the opportunity to once again stay at the Erie Candlewood last week.Having formerly lived in Erie we always look forward to returning to visit old friends and spend some time at Presque Isle State Park. Our visit was made complete by the easy to access (just off I90) and close to a great Wegmans. The staff, including the General Manager Lisa made our stay special. The rooms are always spotless, plenty of parking..everything we need. We plan on more visits to The Gem City in coming months...we would not think of staying anywhere else! Thank you Erie Candlewood Suites.
Stopped at this hotel to sleep overnight during a long drive. I asked for a quiet room and was placed across from the front desk. Around midnight I was woke up to a crowd of people apparently hangng out in the lobby and making noise, talking loud and laughing. I found the desk phone called the operator and complained. Finally fell back to sleep. Other than that the hotel is clean. I loved the bathroom shower. Modern and VERY GOOD water pressure in the shower. Also had a kitchenette which I didnt use.(Large fridge and microwave). Red Lobster right next door along with other places to eat within walking distance.
Nice place to stay. It is within walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The staff seems very nice. The only drawback is that it is next to a major road and if you have a room whos window faces that road, theres a chance you could be woken up earlier than you want to be. Other than that, I would stay here again. The internet work real well, they have free laundry for their guests and free coffee in the morning.
I stayed here for 3 nights so I would not lose my gold elite status. I have been staying at a hotel run by a different company since mid August. When I first arrived at this hotel it was a hassle to just get into the parking lot as it’s entrance is located on a very busy one way 2 lane highway. The staff at the first desk was very nice and friendly, although he talked a little more than I prefer. He had my room keys ready for me when I arrived. I went to the room assigned to me and first impression it nice and well kept. Within the first 5 minutes I realized that was not the case. The room I had was on the top floor which I prefer but it was all the way against the highway side which was extremely noisy until around 11pm. If a large truck came by with its engine brake activated it would rattle the dishes in the cabinet. The following evening I went to ask for a different room and there was no one around to help me so I just sucked it up dealt with the noisy neighbor as well as the highway noise. Won’t make that mistake again
Nice updated facility with potential. Room laid out well with nice desk, business work area and well appointed kitchenette. This hotel doesnt provide complimentary breakfast which Ive come to expect from hotels in this range.Front desk was alerted to being out of soap in the shower gel dispenser and failed to provide additional. Upon a return trip to the desk later that eveining, I was provided 2 small bars of soap as an alternative and surprised when the clerk informed me that room service was provided only once every 7 days.
Check-in had difficulties with a Canadian card. Once in the room the bathroom definitely need a proper cleaning. The bed was really, really firm and neither of us slept well. Otherwise, location is convenient. Rate was very good given it was Thanksgiving weekend. You cant have breakfast onsite but theres a McDonalds across the street and a Cracker Barrel further up Peach Street at the I-90. The hotel is difficult to get into and out of. One way only. It was ok. Not sure if we would go back or not.
The front desk employee was not wearing a mask. My room was not very clean. I had to wipe down the counters and clean up some debris off the carpet. The tub drained very slowly also. Overall, the hotel appeared to lack attention to detail regarding maintenance and cleaning.
I have stayed at this hotel before for business travel. It was nice then and it was very nice again. Room clean and comfortable. No hassle check-in. I got an excellent rate. The front desk personnel was friendly and helpful upon arrival, which is always nice. There are so many restaurant choices nearby, that the need for a hot hotel breakfast is not necessary.
We definitely appreciate the opportunity to have a full kitchen and Candlewood Suites has this! The interior of this hotel is comfortable and clean, the staff friendly. The heat was the problem and seemed not to be working well. It was either too hot or too cold, very dry and heated up in the middle of the night. Maintenance was clearly a problem. Granted, Erie had had a massive snowfall several weeks earlier however the parking lot and walkways should have been cleared. They were not, just a narrow path to the fromt door.
Our family stayed here while on a mini vacation to Erie. Upon arrival, we found that the room we thought we had booked was not the room we received. We spoke with the front desk staff about this and they were very accommodating. The housekeeper even went upstairs to check that the room had everything we would need before we went up there. We also loved the pool and laundry facilities. The only drawback was the lack of crib/pack-and-play for my infant son to use. I would recommend this hotel purchase one as it is the only hotel I have encountered which did not have one.Overall, we had an excellent stay and would stay here again on our next visit on Erie.
Room had a very strong smell of smoke ( either from a previous guest or from the adjoining, connected room) .When reported to the front desk, the only offer was to charge the previous guest a fine ( no offer to provide a different room).Original installation of the tub faucet and diverter very shoddy ( rough- in).....if the condition exists throughout the hotel, it is guaranteed to be a costly maintenance problem in the future.
I stayed on Christmas Eve as a big snowstorm hit the road and I had to get off the highway. Had my dog and didnt realize they have a $75 pet fee. Thats just pure gouging. The people at the front desk just do not care about you in any way. I left messages for the manager twice and never got a call back. CANDLEWOOD SUITES DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!
Hotel was great. Staff not very friendly at all. Pool was small but at least they had one. Loved the laundry room we went to the beach so it was nice being able to wash our suits and towels. There were stains on our curtains on our room but that’s really all I can complain about. Great towels.
Platinum member so have stayed with IHG too many times to count. Have never stayed at a candlewood and probably wont in the future. Lady at the front desk was nice when checking in but later made comments to my wife about our kids and the noise they were making. Pool was small. No breakfast which is very unlike IHG, which makes the value rating go down. Bed and room were comfortable. Nice size room. Bathroom was average at best, could use nicer finishes. room and hotel were extremely clean which was a plus. Location was lovely near restaurants and shopping. Entrance to the hotel was a poor set up.
Although this hotel is new and squeaky clean, it is not ready to receive guests. Our room did not have all pf the furniture in it - no desk, no table, no dining chairs. And, lightbulbs were missing in 2 lamps - the hotel mamager had to steal lightbulbs from other rooms to install them in our room. The workmanship is questionable - the bathroom door (or frame) was so warped, you could not close the door. Front desk manager was very nice, and very apologetic, but still, I did not enjoy the stay. This hotel is not easy to navigate to. You can see, but how do you get to it. Some this problem is likely the GPS too. We were on the main level. The ceilings were very high - 9 or 10 feet high. I now realize why the room rate was so reasonable.
I have visited this Hotel for the past 3 years on business and each time I go it gets worse.. I always felt like i was welcomed but now the last 3 times I never have received welcome points and the rooms are very worn. I visit Holiday Inn Express I never have problems with those Hotels. Ill probably start to use Marriot Hotels when I go to Erie Pa.
Great stay at this newly renovated Hotel in Erie. Staff was great, room was immaculate. We did not realize that maid service was not provided for stays under 1 week, however this was not a significant issue. Sons loved the gym. A.C. ran cold and did not auto turn off in the middle of the night like some others do to save cash.
Everything about the stay was great! The bed was comfortable, pillows soft, entire hotel was clean and very well maintained. I was a little irritated at check in when I stood at the desk for a couple minutes waiting when finally the gentleman working looks up and says oh sorry, I didnt see you there. Im not sure how he didnt see me considering I saw him from where I was standing. Being the manager of a hotel myself, Im use to front desk staff members being at the desk at all times, ready for a guest to walk in, smile on their face and a good evening or even and hello. Although he was very polite, I feel as if he should be a little more observant. Aside from that, our stay was more than we expected. We do plan on staying again in the future.
First the address on the app is NOT the address of the hotel. So that was a problem. Next over 26 hours with no wifi. Then all the outlets are child proofed and the maintenance guy informed us after he mangled my laptop cord the wifi is out. Sigh. The bed bases were metallic and when you moved they creeked eerily, the evening staff were dismissive and non chalant regarding questions. Our shower curtain had mildew. The water pressure on the shower was so strong I got bruises and the kicker was the next morning someone tried to enter our room at 8:45am when we were not getting room cleaning as it wasnt our rotation. They were throwing stuff around in the halls and letting doors slam continuously prior to attempting to get into our room. Thank god for hotel door locks. Not what we expected and exceptionally disappointed.
After a long day of travel, we needed a pet-friendly place to stay for the night. Most pet-friendly hotels are worn, smelly, and -- icky. The customer care and cleanliness of Candlewood Suites Erie, PA was more than we could ever hope for. It was obvious the staff members appreciate their guests and enjoy their jobs. I had the opportunity to speak with front-desk staff on 3 shifts and each encounter was most friendly. The morning staff member pointed me to a grocery store and an alt-option, a convenience mart. A great option considering my needs. He also suggested we indulge in a peaceful tour of Eries peninsula. Clearly, he wanted us to enjoy the beauty of Erie rather than rush through town. I will make a point to stay here in the future. Thank you, youre each representing your hotel and community as every employer and mayor would hope!
Weve stayed here several times as it is so close to shopping and restaurants. We like this hotel, although with the construction occurring around it made it more difficult to enter and exit the property during this past stay. Weve always wished there had been more than one way to enter/exit this property. Our room was nice and big, quiet with a comfortable bed. Since our stay was only one night, we did not need to use the kitchen area during this stay.
There’s more to an employment position at a hotel than simply sitting behind a desk. The employees never came out to investigate any of the customer areas as to its cleanliness. The coffee was old and the area was very dirty and in disarray. The room was, however, clean and very comfortable.
A very pleasant experience. Having a full kitchen was very convenient as we often have left-overs from meals out. The room was clean and comfortable although the AC was a little loud. The pressure of the water in the shower was excessive and should be dialed-back to conserve water if nothing else. There is a Candlewood sign at the entrance but it was not lit during our stay making it a bit difficult to see the entrance at night.
After driving two days it was great to arrive to a warm and comfortable room. It being Erie there had been lots of snow but the people were very helpful in getting me around the area. I appreciated being able to get a hot cup of coffee anytime I wanted. Loved the bathroom, and the kitchen had everything I needed.
My fiancé and I traveled up in the snow storm for a weekend away to go to Splash Lagoon. The hotel was very well kept and clean and very pleased. The only issue we encountered was there being one entrance into the hotel and with the snow storm made it hard to see (which is not the hotels fault). We woke up Saturday morning to see snow to no surprise and that a worker was snow plowing the sidewalks and also around our car which was really sweet and thoughtful! We had a great stay and will definetly be back soon!
First time staying with youexcellent and will stay again and did at other locations on our holiday. Loved the kitchen with a full size fridge.clean and comfortable .Only complaint is the doors to rooms are very loud when closed, We could hear them right down the hall.Very happy overall. Thanks
The room was awesome, full kitchen, nice bathroom and very clean. Had a little trouble with the AC, room kept getting very hot and then very cold throughout the night but that could have just been our room. Also had an issue with the alarm going off unexpectedly at 4am. Nobodys fault but did not get a great night of sleep as a result. Would definitely stay here again!
Candle wood suites offered all the amenities similar to being home. We enjoyed a small kitchenette, recliner and a spacious bathroom. Bed was very comfortable, so we slept well. There were plenty of towels left for us and also plenty of outlets making it easy to use the ironing board and my curling iron
Great hotel, rooms very clean and good overall condition. Kitchen in the roo. Is nice. Pool is nice, but towels are not kept at the pool, so get some from the front desk before going to the pool. Only disappointment was lack of breakfast at this hotel. We have stayed at 5-6 different hotels in Erie over the past several years and this is the only one that does not provide some type of breakfast.
Very clean , nice new hotel but the beds are hard as a rock. We tossed and turned both nights even though we were exhausted . I wouldnt stay there again and the only reason is the bed. Also couldve put more than 2 of everything in the room. Just because its only one bed doesnt mean you wont need more than 2 towels, 2 cups, 2 plates etx....also only 1 chair. No.table.and chairs, no sofa bed or love seat. We were only there for 2 nights but had we truly needed a suite hotel this qouldnt have lived up to need..had we wanted to sit and watch tv it wouldve had to been done from the bed. Fine for a regular hotel room but when you pay for a suite you expect a living area
While the rooms were great, the hotel entrance is enough to make me not select this hotel in the future. The parking entrance for this hotel needs corrected there is only one entrance on a one way portion of a divided highway. if you miss the entrance youre doing two uturns to get back to the correct side of the highway ...a very heavily traveled section of the highway due to multiple mall entrances and other highway entrances Also no sidewalk ramp to get into main entrance makes it hard getting luggage up and down the sidewalk
The hotel was very clean. However, I was promised adjoining rooms and a crib. The facility doesn’t have any cribs. There were no adjoining rooms with the size room requested. When reserving room they said they were the hotel, which they were not we asked for towels and they said they didn’t have any clean. We asked them to bring them up so we could shower when they were ready. We never received them. It was a very disappointing stay
Ive stayed at the candlewood suites in york and loved it. So I had high standards for the Erie location. That being said they meet all my expectations and then some. Very friendly employees and funny. The room was very clean. I would advise you to be careful in the bath tub though for I feel its really clean to the point where its very very slippery. Im not complaining at all but I have a bad ankle and I nearly fell on my butt. So if anyone is clumsy like my self please be careful. I do recommend them to get tub mats so your not slipping. The location is great as well. Will go again.

2022-06-08My family and I stayed here while I was attending a training for work. The whole hotel was very clean and the room was very nice. Staff was wonderful. My son got sick on our last day, and the general manager, Dawn, was very understanding and accommodating with check out time.

2021-12-14My husband and I were celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary, and our son had a game in Lock Haven, so we decided to have a weekend getaway staying in Williamsport, then in Erie as our son attends university there. As always, the staff at the Erie location is always pleasant. Upon entering our room it looked clean. Bed was nicely made, towels looked good. However, the bathroom could do with some good scrubbing - from the walls to the shower area. There were dirty dishes in the dishwasher, the coffee pot had dried up coffee in it, and the microwave didnt work. We informed the staff and they were surprised and apologized. Sleep was good but we had to turn the heater off because it was too noisy. Fridge was noisy too but we couldnt turn it off. Overall, our stay was good.

2022-02-22I stayed here in December for a weekend. Staff were nice, so was the room, but with everything going on, they obviously hadnt used the room in a while. I arrived late, and the room temperature was 69F. I turned it up because it was cold and went to bed. I woke up in the middle of the night and was freezing. Temperature was now 66F and kept waking up freezing. In morning, I went to the front desk and informed them said could someone look at it and also told them that the shampoo and body wash bottles were empty and the pump on the conditioner bottle broken. When I returned in the early evening, the room was warmer but then realized it was because of the sun. Nothing was done; toiletries were still empty and broken. I checked out in the morning and was told maintenance wasnt in on the weekend. No apologies, no concerns. I understand staffing levels, but if I knew that, I would have asked to be moved to another room. I sent a letter to the hotel and ihg Rewards twice, and they never responded, so they dont care, and I wont stay at any Candlewood property again. Im an IHG Platinum Elite member, so its not like I am not loyal.

2022-04-14I have been staying here for two months while on a travel nurse contract and would recommend to any family and friends. The rooms are nice and spacious with full size fridge. The staff is also amazing and never fail to help with any concerns!

2022-06-14Reasonably priced with a kitchenette so we could prepare our own meals. No oven, but has a 2 burner cooktop, microwave, and full-size fridge. Rooms are clean but a bit dated. Located at a busy intersection so not essential to sit on the patio. Staff were very helpful.

2022-06-12Checked in and immediately checked out. Booked a king room and we were given a queen. The room stunk of stale cigarettes and with a half empty parking lot, we were told this was the only room left available. The front desk employee stated “she didn’t know why people thought these rooms smelled of cigarettes” indicating we were not the first to complain. There were even cigarette burn marks in the carpet. The staff member on duty was training someone new and neither were able to process a credit card refund for our room.

2022-03-23Definitely changing my rating. I stay in hotels for work constantly so I know a crooked hotel when I see one. This hotel has been the worst experience staying at I was given only $9.60 back of my 50 deposit. Why? No one can tell me.My room was dirty and was not vacuum, the microwave was dirty, I got a water blister from the shower pressure being so hard. The bed was rock hard and the girl up front could barely check me in. Like how? I tried to be patient and calm but how can somewhere take your money when you did nothing wrong. Dont stay here.

2021-08-25Let me start with the GPS didnt recognize the actual location of the hotel. Just be prepared - You can see it, but GPS says turn opposite direction, because of road name. Signage is NOT there to help you find the hotel and there is only one drive to get in/out of it and its on a one way! (So, Just go into mall lot, follow right to the driveway by the Mens Warehouse , (If you miss it go to stop light at end of mall and turn right til you find it!) turn right and follow to stop sign, turn right and into hotel lot immediately. ) and entrance is on back side of hotel! Location is good for great food options. and near grocery store in case you need something.Pet fee is terrible! $75.00 per night! and it wasnt stated how much it was when I booked the room! I have a 10lb hypo allergenic & paid the same as someone with a big shedding dog. =( We only had one bath towel in our room for two, but another was easily picked up at the front desk .Staff was super nice and really went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. They are definitely working lots of hours, so please make sure your nice to them!
