Real nostalgic visit for me. I used to go here when I was a kid visiting my grandparents during summers in the Poconos. To be able to come back and show it to my son, 30-some odd years later is so wonderful. It is a great zoo with lots of stuff for kids. A real hidden gem. We got to do a dino hunt, feed the giraffe, and see all sorts of animals. It was another great visit.
Big Bang for your Buck! We were very pleasantly surprised by the size and sights. Many animals of all different kinds to see here and an extensive layout. Popular with visitors but never felt overcrowded. The day that we went was a little unseasonably cold but all of the animals were out regardless, and active. Small line to feed giraffes but that activity was reasonably priced - $3 per person, and the option to feed parrots as well. Great zoo!
We visited this animal wild life zoo and first thing when we enter we were greeted by the ladies and very friendly and explained everything to us u brought tickets for the zoo as well as all the feedings available. Our kids loved everything from the giraffe to the parrots and even the turtles. Very family friendly place .. if u have kids this is the spot for you!
Hidden Gem. Recommended! The experiences here are Very up close and personal. This place is very interActive and Inexpensive. The only problem is its limited on food and drink. Has vending machine that did not work for me last time to get Drink. Gift shop does not have any food or drink. Parking here is also small. The road to get here is very narrow and winding. The paths inside are not paved and just a dirt and rocky hill paths which makes it that more real. Great Staff. And bring some Cash (Singles) for extra fun. Great Family times and memories made here.
It was nice place to take my daughters ages 14/12 and they really enjoyed the place.but I would have been nice if the Keeper was out to demonstrate what the animals were capable of having fun. Also paying four dollars to feed the giraffes, it could gave you a little bit more carrots for 4 dollars.but overall, it was a nice place to go
Great place. It was a zoo in the woods. The staff were very caring about the animals. We met one who was there on her day off just to visit the place with her kid. Feeding the giraffe took a long time but was worth the wait. You get a whole bunch of carrots to feed him. The birds were hillarious customers! There was an animal parade where the porcupine goat pig and others were wandering around on leashes with their caregivers.
This zoo is so cute. It is mostly outdoors and there are a variety of animals that you can feed for an extra fee.My only complaints were that there wasnt any actual food, just snacks. Another complaint would be that the ground is very rocky and uneven and hard for a stroller to get around. Ill keep this in mind for next time, because we will definitely go back!
This was my first time here and I was a little disappointed with how skinny some of the animals were and some of the enclosures seemed a bit small for the animals in them. Onto the good points. They did have a good selection of animals to be able to visit and we were treated with the lions roaring so that was pretty cool and not something Ive seen or experienced before. You can feed the giraffe which is great and I do love how up close and personal you can get with the animals.I guess Im just a tough critic with the way the animals appearance is and size of the cages. Maybe if I go in a different season the animals will be filled out a little more?
A great place to go during pandemic times. A large percentage of the park is outdoors with the exception of the reptile/critter and the initial entrance to the park.A wide variety of animals inhabit the park. Overall the habitats were in good shape with a few exceptions that desire improvements. The animals all appeared healthy and the staff were visibly seen taking good care of the animals. There are a variety of big and small cats, alligators, bear, wolf, monkeys, alpacas, tortoises, fox, singing dogs, reptiles, camel, birds, and other exotics. You can pack your own lunch and eat or buy on site.On Covid Matters, the park staff all wore masks and social distanced. Certain indoor areas were posted for mandatory mask wearing such as restrooms, reptile house, or entrance area/gift shop. People with pre exisiting conditions may want to arrive at opening when the crowd is small. On a recent visit mask ratio was about 50/50 on the trails and it is recommend to wear masks but not mandatory.A great outdoor day trip which kids and adults should enjoy....worth a stop.
Small place takes about 45 min to walk around it but the animals are well taken care off and the different animal feeding encounters are awesome and above all very affordable ( I been in many zoos and can assure it). Is a very good place for your children to learn about the animals so I encourage all the parents out there that have small children afraid of some animals to take them here and expose them to the experience of feeding them. Is a good place to just walk around and enjoy the fresh air.
Loved our visit, its small but has all the big animals like giraffes, tigers, lions, so it doesnt feel like you are missing out. Infact its actually a great size to enjoy it all and not feel worn out at the end of the day.yiu will still get a solid 2-3 hours, if not more. Wish the food stall wasnt cash only, but atleast the tickets and gift shop take card. Fed the giraffe and that was a fun bucket list item and only $3.
The park is small and habits are as well, but the animals are really well taken care of. One of the senior keepers was able to pet the lion as seen in the photos I posted.Gift shop is pretty large which you enter in exit through. Feeding tokens over available in the gift shop for $3 a piece. The tokens are available in the gift shop which you can put on your credit card... But as soon as you get the park it is cash only. The kids had a great time feeding the goats and the giraffe. Definitely worth the money and time will spent!
My family visited this adorable zoo in the country this summer. They offer free parking and allow food to be brought in (although they ask you to be responsible with not littering, especially plastics that can harm their animals). We were all impressed with the cleanliness& size of enclosures as well large variety of animals they have, especially some ones weve never even seen or heard of. The giraffe and bird feedings were so much fun (they cost extra but are reasonably priced at $5). The staff was very helpful offering encouragement to coax the children that were nervous. They also offer a dinosaur section where kids can do a dinosaur dig & play in sandboxes with fossil bases among other games with lots of cute photo opportunities. We plan on making a return trip to this zoo an annual event in the years to come.
Some animals appear underfed, and given the size of their cages, I dont think its a healthy environment for the animals, however I dont doubt that they are well taken care of. Theres a surprising variety of animals, most of which are not local to the area, and therefore have no business being in the Poconos. Reasonably priced, until you get into any and all extras ( feeding certain animals for a price). All in all, I left feeling depressed.
I went here for the first time yesterday. Lets start with the positive. Staff is very friendly, prices arent too outrageous, was t overly crowded and the majority followed social distancing guidelines. Now the negative. Majority of animals slept my entire 5 hours here. That included all big cats, owls, foxes and basically any animal that could be threatening when awake and not tranquilized. The picture with a tire is a lion completely sprawled out and knocked out. All in all was great but was depressing seeing the animals In such a state. Also the restrooms were filthy and not in complete working order.
Large variety of animal species. Average cleanliness. Some parts were a little crowded(went on a Wednesday afternoon), the pathways are not very wide. Good that they allow you to bring food because their food service area is carnival level at best. I would return to bring visiting family/friends.
This is a typical roadside America attraction in the Poconos. The admission fees are pretty typical of this sort of zoo. It has a lot of native animals and some really unusual ones like a Cavy and some really neat monkeys. The giraffe is very friendly and the kids get a kick out of feeding it. They do have some big cats like a lion and leopards and they looked tired and hot as it was in the upper 80s when we visited mid-afternoon. In fact, a lot of animals were sleeping in their hideaway coves when we visited. Maybe its better to visit just after opening and not on very hot days. The gift shop is loaded with all kinds of things to get the kiddos excited and harder for you to get them to leave. There are few items with the zoos name on it like mugs, tee-shirts and hats but thats about it. What I liked about the zoo the best though was the handwashing station just outside the petting area and the staff was pretty friendly.
Absolutely horrific conditions for animals to be living in any which way shape or form you should be ashamed of yourselves...... Wild animals like this should not be living in captivity especially the way you have them in the small cages absolutely disgusting with the rats running all over the place..... I would recommend that no one ever support your place so it would go out of business and that would be the end of that...... Beyond horrific conditions and completely unacceptable !!!!!YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES TRYIN TO MAKE A BUCK LIKE THIS
Remember going here when I was young and my kids love it now. If your looking for a fantastic starter zoo for young children or to go to a small laid back zoo set in the forest yet backed with a half a days fun and adventures then this is the perfect place. Its always clean and its priced just right. Even the souvenir shop has the perfect little gift to accommodate any budget.
This Zoo was well kept and clean, and there was plenty of animal variety. The animals, however, all seemed really small... the enclosure swere really tiny too and the animals didnt seem to have too much privacy from visitors. A goat got out of the pen enclosure in the petting zoo area and the zookeeper nearby made me wrangle it back into the pen and even told me just pick it up without any consideration. Still had fun for 2.5 hours...
Pretty impressive cross section of animals. Some exhibits are in better shape than others, and most could use a little sprucing up. Still, it is impressive for being a privately owned roadside zoo. And theres a great deal of educational value. You gotta go at least once.
Amazing time at this zoo. It’s giant! If you love animals and enjoy the outdoors this spot is for you. You can interact with some animals and you are pretty close and safe next to them all. Every animal here is majestic and beautiful. Staff are very helpful and it’s just a onetime entrance fee! The gift shop inside is big enough to enjoy. Definitely a spot for a family vacation and enjoyment. Spent about 3-4 hours at this zoo!
Wonderful family spot. Overall little over an hour to get through the whole animal park. Huge variety of animals, theyre in fenced areas so youre able to talk to them and hear their noises. Unlike the very large zoos, this one is smaller but youre walking through a forest of some sort. So altogether the experience was amazing for our two children ages 7 and 9.
After visiting this place, I Made a promise never to pay and encourage people to watch animals kept enclosed or in captivity or to continue the sad practice!Roamed the whole zoo, and just 3-4 animals moved. The rest all lay in their small smelly cages unhappy . It was a realy sad sight. Also apart from the $18 entrance fee, they charge a separate $3 if you want to feed the donkey/giraffe/goats,parrots. And incase you do wish to feed them, you get 3 slices of carrot for $3!!!The lions, panthers, bear, jackal lay stiff in their small cages (which i dont understand why? When there was so much space around the cages to build bigger cage and let the animals be animals, rather than restrict them to a small enclosed area!!)The zoo has a stink to it! And sooooo much free area-i dont know why they dont enlargen the cages and let the animlas move freely!I wouldnt recommend a visit!
We have taken the kids here a few times over the past 5 years. They love it. Cost of admission is reasonable and it is always a fun time. I would suggest bringing snacks and to plan somewhere to eat. Food selection is limited but thats fine, we go to see the animals. There is a BBQ joint not too far which is pretty good.
The animals are all so happy and active its amazing! Best zoo experience ever! Everyone that has said the animals look sad and underfed have clearly never been to the Bronx zoo. This is my favorite place to visit because of the personality the animals have, you pay so much money for other zoos to just see animals sleep, here theyre actually loving life and walking around and theyre excited to see people and interact with people, like heck one of the birds was dancing around and singing and having a little conversation with us!Such an adorable and unforgettable experience for sure.
I really enjoyed my time with my son. My son is younger and got into the zoo for free! Great learning experience for him! The staff was friendly and helpful. Clean environment. The animal feeding activities are so much fun and worth the price. The price to get in is fair and they also offer a 1$ discount when you ask/mention discounts from their website. The animals are beautiful and such a joy to see. I do personally feel/think that some of the animals should have bigger living spaces because that’s obviously better for the animals well being BUT I feel this way about all zoos though. Although this is true they 100% appear to all be well taking care of! I would totally return with my son/maybe make a yearly visit! The gift shop is very nice! (I wanted everything lol) I do wish the food stand had a few more options but the chilly was very tasty!! TOTALLY Worth the trip! 😊
Very nice place , we had a wheelchair and it was a bit hard to punch because of some rocky trails.however over all it was a great experience to see so many different animals up close.it was a hot day but thier is plenty of shade coverage. I would recommend for all ages.
I love supporting the community. I love having these local zoos in my area. These local areas expose my children to wild animals; without us traveling 3 and 4 hours away. This is not the first time I take my children here and this will not be the last. I hope the good people in these areas come out and support the zoo. I saw Lions, Leopards, and bears...oh my!
We love this park...... this is one of the best parks we have been to in a long time..... very clean... animals looked healthy and happy.... staff is excellent.... happy ... excited.... all around fun experience.... we go as often as we can..... this park reminds us of a movie that I dont know if I can say day the title without getting someone in trouble these days .... but its about a small time park, purchased and then saved.movie is based on a true story. .... wink.. wink...
We loved this place. Found this place by accident and didnt expect much of it but we were pleasantly surprised. It has a lot of animals in a wild park surrounding. You get to feed a giraffe and parrots. We went to Turtle Back Zoo couple times before and that a nice and big zoo in Nj but we enjoyed this one more. Kids loved it.
I wish I wouldn’t have come here and gave them my money. These poor animals! In small smelly cages. Clearly some of the animals are not properly taken care of. The one cougar was panting so hard and not walking right, could barely jump down from the ledge he was on. After doing a little research I’ve found this place has been cited for violations multiple times. Awful!
Great experience. Kids loved it. I loved it. Thought the only ones who seemed to not enjoy it were the animals themselves. The habitats looked like no effort was put into making the animals feel at home. The paths should be a little easier to maneuver strollers. Other than that I guess it was okay to spend $124 not including food or feeding food for the animals. I guess. Eh. My husband said they were being greedy at this point. How abusive.
Visited for the first time on 6-22-2020. Ever since the Coronavirus situation an not being able to actually go out an feel comfortable an safe for the first time in months choosing this place to spend the day at was a good idea! It was a little over 2 hours to get there but definitely worth it. Yes the looks pulling in an see the small entrance could make it seem like its nothing special but i was very surprised! Yes,there are restrictions in place an some things were not available due to the Virus, but it was still a great time an getting to walk around an see animals throughout the trails definitely made you feel like you were in the wild with the animals you encountered, not a zoo which was very neat to me! I dont understand how some people on here are bashing this place an saying the animals arent happy, taken care of,etc.because they definitely are an the one staff member making rounds cleaning an monitoring everything was very, very nice an was talking about her encounters with the animals an even when she saw the Lions she talked to the one Henry an he literally followed her which was so crazy! No animal was bored, many were playing, their cages are big enough an clean,an you can tell how much this place loves them so please dont listen to the rude, untrue comments because this place is definitely worth visiting!
Kids had a blast! Big $ animals Lions a Giraffe a Tiger lots of expensive zoo animals lots of beautiful exotic animals and some wild animals from the western hemisphere (bears wolves beaver owls). Cheap! Cheap tickets cheap gift shop and cheap concession stand. Kind of in the middle of the woods which made getting there a task kept loosing cell service but it being in the mid. Of the woods makes for a very unique zoo experience. Staff is very friendly!
Its a nice zoo, kinda small and privately owned. The walking trails are not paved, the glass /plexiglass windows are not cleaned to allow decent photos. Also I dont like how most zoos have capitalized on their giraffes. The Metro zoo allows unlimited petting of the giraffe and charges for food. A much better arrangement then this and many other zoos. This zoo is a nice place for the kids just be prepared for the off road terrain and most of the animals are sleeping or hiding.
Love it here. Been going here since I was a kid, and now I bring my son multiple times per season. He really enjoys it. You can feed the turtles, Lori birds, and the giraffe Jethro. They had two new younger lions, a make and a female and they livened up the old lion! A great variety of animals. You only need a couple of hours but its worth it. Wear comfy shoes, bc its rocky on the trails, and it can be muddy after it rains.
Wonderful time with the family! They have lots of different animals including lions, a tiger, and a bear. Oh my! They have times where you can feed the giraffe and parrots. The giraffe feeding was great, all the kids were very excited and so thrilled when it took the carrot from their hands. The giraffe just uses its tongue so theres no chance of being bit, which was my main concern.
This was a nice zoo that seemed to be well kept and attended. There were so many surprising animals I never would have expected to find at what I thought was a small zoo. Most of the animals seemed at least content, but many also seemed very bored. What I dont know is how often theyre rotated or given new surroundings to explore. Otherwise, this was a great zoo.
Visited on our way through PA since it was just off of the highway, and although it seemed to be a nice place it was very sad to see the enclosures the animals are in. There were multiple animals in cages/pens/displays that were shockingly small. There was a particular display that stood out with 2 alligator snapping turtles in a glass enclosure that MIGHT have been 10 sq ft and they shared a plastic pool that was about 2 ft deep and maybe a few feet wide. Very concerning to see the many big cats they have in very small habitats as well. Overall Im honestly surprised they can still operate like that in 2021.
Great time with the grandbabies, one side isnt that bumpy, but one side is a little rougher and looked harder for strollers or wheel chairs. Animals were still sleepy at 11 but were more active after lunch. Snack bar was closed but, was advertised as closed on website so we prepared. Feedings were fun and enjoyed the exhibits and the staff seemed to care about the animals. Didnt need the whole day and we left a little early. Would visit again in a few years 2-3. A nice family day out and I love how you can do at your own pace.
This little zoo delightful!! I have horrible arthritis, so I went very slow on sloped pathways or uneven ground, but it was full of wonderfully cared for animals, happy and helpful staff, and was a rustic treasure for sure. The wolves were howling and almost all the animals were active. Signs clearly labeled each animal and gave info about where they are originally from, etc. The gift shop was full of fun stuff for kids of all ages. I found a great t-shirt for a loved one and an awesome hat with a manatee. If I ever come to this area again, I WILL be back!
Family road trip to this hidden gem! 90 mins and done! Loved it. Be prepared to walk over rocky walkways with lots of dirt. You are in the woods, wear closed toe shoes if you dont want to get dirty, bring bug spay if they bother you. Great views if the animals. Great day for the kids!
This was a great little park, especially for little kids. The animals are clearly loved and the staff is very friendly. If you go during COVID, make sure to pack a picnic or snacks, the snack bar is closed. Also, if you have small kids that will want to spend time in the petting zoo, do yourself a favor and bring lots of quarters for the feed machine and a baggie to put it in. My 2 year old did not get tired of feeding the animals but I got very tired of running out to the feed machine! We were able to do turtle town, feed the giraffe and feed the lorries. Make sure to bring an all terrain stroller because the paths aren’t paved, so it’s like taking a nature walk.
Surprisingly nice zoo in the middle of the Poconos. They have a petting zoo area and some exotic animals (lions, giraffes, tigers, etc.). The only con would be that since its wooded strollers dont really work on the paths. We spent most of our time carrying our son since it would so rough.
I took the child I nanny for, she enjoyed her experience because she couldn’t understand how sad and neglected these poor animals were. All the animals were unresponsive non active either hiding or sleeping in small spaces without a partner. It was heart breaking. Giraffe need a companion and this huge guy was all alone in a very small place showing signs of hunger. Besides all the animals looking sad and miserable the reason I give two stars is because the staff was friendly and the petting zoo part was adorable with a mix of animals from goats, lam’s, deer all friendly enough to feed and hold. The gift shop was cute too. Besides that I will not be returning and giving a company my money that clearly doesn’t care about the happiness of their animals. Very sad.
The diversity of the animals they have is not bad, the issue is that they are kept in really small areas with no way to entertain themselves. And those areas are dirty and old. All the animals seem really depressed. I brought my kids and family trying to have a good time and seeing animals but we left feeling sad and worried about the well-being and quality of life of this animals.
This zoo is one of the best zoos ever. I have never seen a snow leopard and panthers and Jaguars in a zoo before. There’s also a area where you can go into a big fenced place, and you can feed goats and deers. The baby goats kept jumping on me and left a lot of scratch’s but I didn’t care, THEY WERE JUST SO CUTE. So if you ever do go, I would suggest having jeans with you.
We had our 2 teenage daughters on a overcast day and looking for something to do on vacation. This place didnt disappoint us. The people there were super nice, knowledgeable and you can tell they enjoyed working there. The zoo itself was kept nice and the animals didnt seem to be stressed out at all and they all looked healthy and happy
We went on a Monday morning. This zoo is beautiful! Could literally stay all day. Have a CLEAN place to have a picnic lunch. Bathrooms clean, animals healthy! Workers seem to really care for animals. A baby goat escaped his pen, and we called the office. They were there immediately! Wonderful place to visit!!!
I’m not one to leave a review but….This place is run down and deplorable. They have plenty of great animals to see but the inclosures are the worst I’ve ever seen! The animals pace back and forth a clear sign they are stressed. They have big cats and bears in tiny fenced in areas so close to human you can practically touch them. Yet they have soo much free space that the can build a real zoo and it’s not like the aren’t charging high enough prices to do so.It’s almost impossible to walk with a stroller how is it not against the disability act?I’ll never return ever again.
I loved Claws N Paws. It was great being so close to the lions, jaguars, leopards and other wild cats. Ive been to many other zoos on the East coast where these big cats are so far away and hidden that you cant even see them.Check out your local brochures & coupon books and save $1 per person on entry. It will save a big family a few bucks.
I took my sons age 6 and 7 to the zoo on a Friday afternoon. It was our first time visiting. The zoo was not too busy and we were able to walk around the park and see all the animals within around 3 hours. I guess it took longer because my kids wanted to stop and really observe each animal and take pictures.Overall we had an amazing time, we got to see the animals really close up and they were all so active including the lions who were roaring, which was great for the kids to see, the giraffe, tigers, camel etc . The wolves were howling and the kids loved seeing and hearing this. The kids loved feeding the giraffe and how close they were able to get to the deer. The zoo is in the woods and I would recommend wearing sneakers as the ground is quite uneven, but it all adds to the fun of the zoo. There was hand sanitizer everywhere and the bathrooms were clean and not over crowded. There is really nothing negative I can say about the zoo, it was really enjoyable and I would go back and recommend it!
88$ for 4.This zoo is cooler than the Bronx zoo, kids fed the giraffe from the hand, people travel to Africa to do this, the children played with the baby goats and the giraffe, the animals are very close to the fence, which is very convenient, the serpentarium is in millimeters from you, be sure to take your children there, and the road to the zoo in general like a fairy tale, very beautiful and in the forest.
Terrible … besides the cramped quarters the animals are kept in , their spaces are poorly kept and the overall place itself is dirty. Can’t see some of the animals because the windows are filthy.Anyone who thinks this place is nice is not a true animal lover. It should be closed and the animals shipped to zoos that care and take good care of them.I was not an animal activist , but am now after my visit.
Very convenient location of each animal. Lots of variety. The lizard house had an unbearable stench, and the lion looked sad. But the petting zoo was cool, the animals were friendly and clearly used to humans. The snack bar was closed when I was there, Saturday afternoon. The staff was friendly and courteous. The bathroom wasnt disgusting. Not bad though.
Went on a weekend and was very busy but that was expected. Good variety of North American and exotic wildlife.Trails are rustic at best. Rocky, unpaved with runoff ruts, variable levels and root systems everywhere.expect some skinned knees from the younger kids, and some trouble walking for the older guests.Staff was friendly and kind. Our family participated in the giraffe and lorikeet feedings and the petting zoo and all were well worth the few dollars they charged. My only suggestion would be to add better and more informative signage at the exhibits as many plaques contained the most rudimentary of information. All and all a decent half-day excursion at a good price. If you dont mind a little hiking this is a nice rustic little zoo.
Very depressing park. The let down starts with admission prices sky high. Animal enclosures are very run down and falling apart some are almost grown in covered with green mildew as well as very small for larger animals. Its a heavily wooded area giving a dark and gloomy feeling the animals looked extremely lethargic and neglected, the smell of urine and mildew fills the air (understandably a zoo has smells but this was unbearable), Even in the un-cleaned restrooms. Pathways are unkept and hazardous with roots, rocks and mud, not recommended if you have a stroller. Its very sad they charge so much for admission but cant even mow or weed around anything, we almost missed a few animals due to overgrowth of bushes and trees. This park is not worth the price at all. We wont be returning to claws and paws and probably wont be recommending it to anyone.
Absolutely atrocious! Walking through it was obvious that the cages are too small. The Deer exhibit had no grass, the emu was drinking out of a muddy puddle as no water was available, and the parrots were essentially being abused. The person running the Lory Parrot feeding would grab the parrots off the walls and throw them so they’d be with the people and they could make money.
First time attending last week. When we first arrived, the parking lots were overflowing and super dusty as it was gravel. Sneakers are a must. Finally found a spot, but the line was super long and went very far into the parking lot. Finally made it through, and we got inside, but I didnt realize that most of the park was not paved walkways, as well as mostly gravel and with tons of tree roots. Not stroller friendly. There is only 1 bathroom and it smelled like a latrine, and not very clean. The positives were that the animals are so close up- my kids enjoyed seeing so many of them and reading the quick facts on the animals cages. Also a positive- youre able to feed the animals where you wouldnt always get to do that in your average park/zoo. We did eat before getting there, but you could bring a picnic lunch and eat at their picnic tables if you wanted to. Not sure I would go back anytime soon.
Love this place! The habitats are immaculate and the animals are plump and healthy. You can see the handlers really care about the animals health and well being. We have been taking our kids for years and they have recently added new animals and events. Not crowded. A great way to spend a casual day.

Had a great time there with my family!!! Lots of really neat animals!!! Staff was very nice!!! However, it would be great if the animals (especially the large ones like the lions) had more room in their enclosures!!! One of the lions was out in the small enclosure and the other was in a cage. The park has tons of land and it would be nice if they used it to give the animals more space!!
Very cool place to go. Many different animals. The cages are a little bit small for the animals, though.... And also look out when walking on the paths. There are a lot of roots and rocks. The gift shop was a little bit overpriced... This zoo is very interesting and I would recommend to someone who wanted to go to a zoo in eastern PA.
Great little park. Nice variety of animals. Several times a day you have the opportunity to pay $3.00 to feed certain animals like the giraffe. It is in a wooded area with some hills and the walking path is just dirt and gravel. There are larger rocks and trees roots that make walking or pushing a stroller difficult. There is s snack stand with decent prices and a very nice gift shop. Well worth the stop. Allow about 2 hours to see everything.
This place is AWESOME! My girl friend and I brought our two sons, ages 3.5 and 9, they both had a blast. All the animals are friendly, all visible on our trip. There are staff members walking around with animals, asking you if you want to pet them. You are able to pet and feed giant tortoises. There are a lot of different animals and exhibits! Lots of animals to feed and pet. We got a kiss from a giraffe while on this trip. I would absolutely come again. Its so cool cause its woodsy and you actually feel like youre a part of nature. All the animals look well fed and happy. We spent 3 hours here. I could see this being an all day thing if you want to see all the shows but we arrived late in the day when its not too crowded.
THE WORST ZOO I’ve ever been! Could not imagine that this can exist in US in 21st century. Animals look too sick and skinny, just look at the foxes and wolfs🤦🏽♀️ omg! And it’s so dirty! I’m wondering where all the money from purchased tickets go! And this glass Windows that everyone is tapping and poor animals can’t rest! People acting like they’ve never seen animals 🤦🏽♀️ I’m so disappointed and I don’t know what the inspection is looking at!
My husband and I visited this park last weekend. I would like to extend my view on this park. The animals are well taken care of and are housed in their own environment habitat areas, not cages. The animals have enough room to roam and play without feeling trapped. Everyone who goes to this park will be able to visibly enjoy the animals, their habitat and learn about them. The price of admission is very affordable. The staff were very attentive, pleasant and cared for these animals, as if they were their own family pets. The interactive feeding of the birds was fantastic. There were so many animals to see.. Families should really attend this park and experience the fun for themselves. 5 star rating is well deserved. Thank you Claws and Paws.
Weve been going here for years. I understand the concern for animals in cages and small spaces, as I too feel the same way. But, our interactions with any staff has always proven they have a genuine love for the animals here. If you have any question about the care of the animals just ask any staff. We have annual passes because we enjoy the animals so much. Its a wonderful way to be up close and personal with animals youd never normally get to be so close to.

2022-06-16We havent visited Claws & Paws in a few years due to Covid, this time we brought my 17 year old step-son. Last time we were here we saw that it looked like they were expanding the park and we were definitely excited to see that they indeed expanded areas, made some enclosures bigger and moved some of the exhibits. My family and I enjoyed our visit and will be back to see what else Claws & Paws has in store for us.

2022-06-14Hands down our favorite zoo. The animals are close enough to see them in detail but safely enclosed so no one can get hurt. They have a lot of animals smaller zoos usually dont too, like lions, wolves, and giraffes.

2021-09-09Beautiful zoo for people of all ages. Wonderful healthy animals. Went to get out of the house for a little while. Had an amazing time. Our only gripe(s) would be more food options at the food court as well some of the habitats should be bigger for the animals. All in all fun time and would reccomend.

2021-10-05Claws and Paws is truly something magical, Its a beautiful zoo tucked into the woods of the Poconos. Very friendly and caring staff, and even more beautiful and loving animals. The drive here for Jethro alone is worth it! He is such a loving and friendly giraffe that stole both my Girlfriend and Is hearts! Overall this is a great place to bring the family and friends for a day out! Will definitely be back! We love you Jethro! 💜

2021-10-11This was the best animal park I’ve visited today! The prices for the entrance is understandable because of the amount of animals you will see inside. I liked that each animal had their own background information and how beautiful they all looked. My favorite part was feeding the giraffe 🦒 and the Parrots 🦜. Feeding those animals cost an additional $3 for each one but trust me it’s worth it. Overall this place is excellent to go with family because I went with mine and we had a blast looking at the animals and the activities that they had were just amazing. Also don’t forget to get something from the store on your way out because it’s a great experience with the different toys, pens, earrings/necklaces, and more !!!

2021-09-06Such a fun and clean place for the entire family. Giraffe feeding, DinoDig, refreshments and great animal viewing areas all around especially for younger/shorter guests. Friendly staff who enjoy answering your questions and taking care of the animals. No guest wifi in a poor cell reception area. I enjoy being present with my family, but device connectivity is important to me; this is the reason for the 4/5 stars. Add Claws N Paws to your day trip list!

2021-08-10Hasnt changed much since the last time we went, some 15 years ago. I wish that more people would go, or that some benefactors or businesses would partner with them so that the habitats and enclosures could be improved. With more things to keep the animals busy, and not bored. It might be a temporary enclosure, not sure - but the beavers really need a better habitat. Its tough Im sure. So much money spent on food, and upkeep I imagine. So it is hard to really judge fairly. Maybe if people could sponsor an animal? The snow leopards are my favorites. I would help sponsor one!
