We had an old record player collecting dust in our basement for years and finally brought it in for a stylus replacement and overall “check up” to see if it was in working condition (we know nothing about them or where to even begin). So pleased with the service here - a very quick and easy drop off/pick up process. They even cleaned up the record player and replaced the feet which was way more than I was expecting and shows the level of care they put into their work. So excited to finally start using our record player thanks to Common Beat!!
I brought a 1989 Denon receiver to get it fixed. Another philly store recommended this place as the best place to fix electronics in the city. Paid $20 and gave them my pn for them to call me whenever is ready or wanted me to go pick it up. Never received a call or text msg to check the status. It was pretty much myself writing on their Instagram to get updated about the electronic. After around 7 weeks, through their IG account they told me they could not fix it. Felt disappointing for wasting $20 at this place. I felt like they did not look at it at all. If you want to fix vintage stuff just take it to a more specialized store. There are a couple ones that charge $0 for taking a quick look at the problem. Unfortunately, it was too late when I realized that. My recommendation is that if you are not able to repair the electronic, then refund the money...On a separate note, it seems to be an awesome place for records!
Took my 2 Technics 1200 M3D turntables in for new RCA cabling, and internal grounding. Its been a year and a half since, and my tables still sound amazing. I received my tables back in about 2 weeks after dropping them off. The price was fair, and completely worth it.
I took my Sheraton in for work on the neck, fret adjustment and basic set-up. I am very pleased with the results. Looks great. Feels great. Sounds great. The service charge was very fair --Ive been charged more for less. I would absolutely recommend this place, and will absolutely return.
As you know, I grew up with record shops around me, the new owner is very pleasant and he has a turntable repair station and he sells vintage turntables as well, he has a diverse amount of music in the store, I wish Common Beat Music Longevity Success and Customers Galore 💖.
My partner and I entered the shop and immediately felt unwelcome at the location. None of the store associates said hello when we came in. After browsing for 20 minutes someone finally asked if they could help us with something and it felt like we were being rushed out the store. Its a shame because there is a unique quality to the store with its records and all. That being said... youve got to treat people right.
I was strapped for time, so I figured Id try this local spot for a guitar setup and to get a pedal repaired. They did a piss poor job on both. Guitar was actually in worse shape than when I brought it in (it was out of tune and not even intonated!) The pedal was also still problematic when I plugged it in at home. Go elsewhere for setups and repairs.

2022-04-13Got a record player from here and a cartridge and stylus. Everything works as intended. Record selection is good and prices are fair. Trying their repair service with a turntable I got from goodwill thats only playing out of one channel and has a slight speed issue. Will update when I get the table back.

2022-06-07I was able to drop off my 40+ year old record player that was on the fritz, and within a few weeks, she was fixed! Still has some trouble with the auto start, but the thing is so old! Common Beat was able to solve the problem of the needle not dropping onto the record, and fixed the springs on the feet that had rusted and broken off. Will definitely be back to shop for records! Thanks!

2022-08-03Wonderful little music outpost with cool gear, wax, strings, reeds, sticks, tape and heads. It is not a faceless corporate mausoleum its a thriving little engine run entirely by cats.

2021-11-02I brought 2 older cassette deck and a Kenwood Receiver in for repair. Carlo knocked it out of the park with getting them back to their original condition, and the service was very reasonably priced. I would bring any future stereo equipment here for repair from now on. I also picked up some great records while I was there. Its a great shop!
