Food was good, service was inconsistent. We arrived and sat just before 6:00 and the server did not make it to our table for another 5 minutes or so. We tried to order drinks and were told that we were too late for happy hour since it was after 6:00. We indicate that we were there and seated before 6:00 but that it took them time to get to us. She said there was nothing she could do as the computer controlled the pricing. That was a bit disappointing in that she did not get her manager to give us the discount on our first round of drinks since we were there before 6:00. Other than that, the food was good and reasonably priced in comparison to other similar restaurants. Would have given it five stars had the service been better and more customer focused.
Last night we ate at Crimson Grill for the first time since the start of the pandemic. Unlike a lot of the lackluster food and service we have received from other restaurants post pandemic, Crimson was fantastic. Our waiter was great, food was great (hot and well prepared) and the atmosphere was lively and friendly. We will be back again soon.
Lived in this area for years, and passed this location many times. Decided to order take-out for the first time. I was extremely disappointed. I ordered 2 New York Strip steaks. One was suppose to be medium well, mine was suppose to be well done. Both were extremely pink and mine was not well done at all. I ordered blue cheese crumble on the side, they put a little on top. The fries I ordered were stale and soft. The broccoli side was literally like 3 little pieces stuck as one. The mac and cheese I ordered for my kids, was literally kraft box mac and cheese. Sadly will not return here.
Overall it was fine. We went on a Friday night and it wasnt busy. Their special was prime rib. Ordered it only to be told 5 minutes after placing our order that they didnt have any left. Got the sirloin with baked potato instead. It wasnt anything special. We also ordered the crab dip. It was okay. Wouldnt order it again though. It didnt have very much crab in it and the toast was super hard. The other entree we ordered was the chicken parmesan. That was actually pretty good. The salad was also good. It was priced fairly based on the type of restaurant it is. My issue with the price is the quality of food. Great food warrants a high price. None of the food was great. Was it good? Yes. Great? No. That said, were willing to go back and try it again.
I went to crimson with my family last night and had the most amazing server! Her name was Mary and she handled us so well and made sure all of our needs were met, even though she had a horribly ignorant table that was running her back and forth every 2 minutes and causing a scene... She didn’t let that affect her amazing service to us. And If we weren’t having such a great experience we would have left because of them. Our food was delicious, I got the Asiago chicken, my husband got the New York strip which was absolutely amazing, and my kids shared the butter noodles!! We will definitely be back and we’re even going to request Mary next time!!!
Prompt, courteous, and professional service combined with beautiful dining areas, food that tastes and looks amazing, and plenty of drinks to choose from makes this restaurant one of my wife and I go to picks. The only real problem is leaving the restaurant as it is on a busy road, and depending on the way youd like to go out you may have to wait for a bit.
The Crimson American Grill its somewhere between upscale and your TGI Fridays and Ruby Tuesdays. Everything was just good. Good food good service. We were seated in a timely fashion. There was nothing extraordinary I got anything. The crowd was very 1 toned. And there was nothing to make them stand out one way or the other. If you like good food were good service for a little more than what you would pay at a Ruby Tuesdays or Smokey Bones then the Crimson American Grill is right up your alley
June 2021: Ive only ordered carryout from here. The food is usually really terrific. I usually order the Pittsburgh steak salad, which I highly recommend. However, todays order for well done steak tips was a huge disappointment. Half of the steak tips were perfectly cooked throughout and tender & juicy. The other half of the tips were medium to medium rare - as if theyd been tossed on the grill only long enough to sear the outside. On the positive side, my husband got to eat medium steak tips from my salad - a bonus for him for Fathers Day.
Were here for the weekend from MI and our go to restaurant is no longer open. Looking for somewhere to eat, I came across The Crimson Grill. So so happy I did!!! Not enough time tonight to sit for dinner, my husband and I ordered the Crab Cakes to share & we were delighted! The Crimson Grill is NOW OUR GO TO RESTAURANT when were in town! Scrumptious! Zane took our order & was very helpful! Guess where were eating TOMORROW NIGHT! Cant wait! AAA+++!!!
I will never never patron Crimson again, we had a very rude and disrespectful waitress named Mary the manager, the owner George treated my party like trash when we very politely tried to discuss are issues, The waitress name is Mary shes rude and disrespectful to her customers, Crimson lost a customer for life.
I got terrible diarrhea after eating dinner here. I called the manager the next day to notify theyre crab cakes (which are really small) may have gone bad and asked if they had any other complaints. The manager must be bipolar. He was extremely rude and used profanity towards me. I was in tears by the time the call was done. I never felt so disrespected in my life. The food was good but not worth being sick the next day.I will never go here with my husband again after how mean the manager was.
Totally acceptable service. The food was OK. I ordered a side salad (fresh) and the fish part of fish & chips. The fish was dripping grease, but was otherwise hot and appropriately cooked. It was a totally fine meal, but the place doesnt have much of an ambiance, in my opinion. I went with friends and would return under the same circumstances, but it isnt likely that we would choose to go there as a family.
The food was good. The waiter was a little confused. We asked for cocktail sauce for the shrimp and he brought salsa. The manager was not friendly or accommodating which is my biggest issue. I, who is literally the national average in size, was there with 3 other people, another average sized person, 1 big and tall guy and 1 curvy lady. We were seated in a booth for 4. It was uncomfortable. Myself and the other average sized person sat on the end with 1/2 our body off the bench. We decided to move to a larger table. Within seconds we were met with hostility and reprimand and were told we had to sit in the booth and a 5 or 6 person table couldn’t be used. The only suggestion was to move to their bar area so we would sit separately. Not an option. The restaurant was 1/3 full on Saturday evening. There were at least 8 empty 5 or 6 person tables, but they refused to accommodate. One the food arrived, I noticed I didn’t have silverware. The other person on the end got a set from another table. Again with seconds the manager came over and reprimanded us for doing so. It was a horrible environment. If you’re a “big and tall” guy or a “curvy” lady I’d suggest you go elsewhere. This restaurant will not do anything to accommodate you.
Easter Sunday - Would not answer phone-(it was off the receiver), the Easter Sunday Menu was not posted online-(we eat there every Easter)-had to order something from regular menu-many customers in lobby not happy, seating, ordering, etc.-got there only to find the Easter Sunday Menu posted - Not happy!
A very nice and relaxing restaurant for a group of friends or family. The waiter was good. The steaks were done to our liking, ribs have a nice taste and plenty of items in the salads. Lots of different beers and mixed drinks to choose from. Its worth the stop for the entire family. Costs of meals or items were above average and cost more than most other places.
We went for Father’s Day and my birthday on 6/20…and I can honestly say that these were the two worst steaks I have had since we moved to York 2 years ago. The ribeye was inedible and full of connective tissue/ gristle. The crab cakes was good- I will give them that. The chicken fingers were just your run of the mill pre-made frozen and deep fried bar food. The broccoli served had a rotten spot on it and was undercooked. The service, you could tell the servers were overwhelmed and the place was understaffed. Our drinks sat empty for a while, basically most of the meal. Our bill was wrong… they fixed it, but we had to wait forever…. And when you have 2 young children who are over it…. Waiting to pay your bill is no fun. It was a disappointment for my birthday and Father’s Day dinner. We would not recommend it…. And would not go back. Save your money.
I’m a GrubHub delivery driver and today was my first pick up at this location. I made the mistake of not reading a sign that was sitting on the table when I went there for my first pick up. The hostess decided to berate me in front of five customers in the lobby and treated me like a child. It was an honest mistake I didn’t see the sign and when I explained it and apologized it was still not good enough for hershe was extremely rude. I asked her why she was being rude to a customer and she could not calm herself down enough to be sincere and wishing me a good evening. I have never been to this place and I will never be there again. The manager or owner should reconsider who they have at the front representing their business.“Please find a job where you’re not working with people, you have no business working with the public or hosting anybody”
First time customer. Ordered online delivery. I have a giant piece of gristle running down the entire length of my steak and it was under seasoned. Surprisingly, cooked to the correct doneness, at least. “Jumbo” lump crab cakes?!?! Hahaha! I had nothing but shredded crab in a ball. No “jumbo” lumps to be found. Truth in menu would be cool. Would’ve also been cool to be able to select a salad dressing for the side salad I got with my meal. I don’t know too many people who enjoy eating their salads dry…I had heard so many good things about Crimson, so I gave it a shot. Sure, it’s Wednesday night, but I want the same quality as a Friday or Saturday night. NOT IMPRESSED! I’ll order sushi next time, like I usually do.
Tried both cream of crab and French onion soups.. would recommend French onion over cream of crab. The dinner we tried was blande, would not re order as it was a $21 entree. Ive gotten this French 75 cocktail now twice. Only reason I give this place a 4. Anybody who knows me , knows my love for Hennessy. If youre a henny fan, its an absolute MUST try
Fantastic Dinner experience.. Had one of the Best Steaks Ive had in a while in the Black and Bleu Rib Eye. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. You could cut with a butter knife.. im a Big French Onion Soup fan and theirs was a Top 5 in my book. All around great experience!
Decided to try a new local restaurant for a date night. The service was excellent. Tiffany our server was very attentive and friendly. The food and drinks were delicious. The food was out at a great pace and fresh. Thank you for making our experience so nice. We will definitely be back. I wish I could give you guys more stars 🌟
Food is amazing and the atmosphere is absolutely lovely. Highly recommended for a first date or a romantic get out. Sadly, due to a steady decline in people eating at the restaurant, they have been going a little downhill. Coronavirus makes it worse. Go there, now, and enjoy it while it lasts. Highly Recommended!!!
If I could rate less then one star I would. Have been here a few times. Something is always off, but they have a happy hour so we have given them a few try’s. The food listed on the menu always sounds great but is never actually what you expect and tastes unexpected. For the prices you would expect better quality food and service. My last straw was them declining my boyfriend who is 22, because he has an out of state license.
The service is slow. The food is ok. I ate the Neptune pasta and thought it was over seasoned. I was not too fond of the garlic bread and my apple sauce tastes like its straight from the store shelves. As far as others at my table, my husbands baked potato was overcooked, my daughters plate was bland and one of the worst parts of the night was the waitress was slow. She rarely came to our table so we could ask for another drink. My husband had asked for A1 and then had to go and find the waitress so he could eat his steak. Definitely not worth the money spent, six adults - $150.00.
Went with my wife and two small children. The food was very good, the waiter was great! The atmosphere is casual enough that those with children would not feel out of place, but it is nice enough for a more formal date or evening out.We both ordered the Crimson Combo, 10 oz. sirloin steak paired with a broiled jumbo lump crab cake. As I said, it was very good. I couldnt help but compare it to a favorite of ours at another restaurant that is New York Strip Steak & Broiled Jumbo Lump Crab Cake and it just wasnt quite as good. I realize NY Strip is a more tender cut and that meal is probably priced a little higher than what we paid at Crimson American, but I still couldnt help but compare the two and notice it wasnt quite as good. But it was still a delicious meal.We were able to share our sides (french fries and rice) and rolls with our 4 year old and didnt need to get her a kids meal. Our meals came with 2 sides and rolls (which we were able to request more of). It was plenty to eat and we were all very satisfied with the food and the service. If you get the quality of food and service we received on our visit, you should not be disappointed.
My family & I went for desserts, some coffee & tea.Almost all the desserts were fine except for the carrot cake. There was hardly any actual carrot cake; The desert was full with 3 layers of thick icing. Horrible!I do not recommend that dessert unless you love pure sugar, cream cheese & butter. In that case people should pay only for icing cake instead of carrot cake. Carrot cake is harder to make than Icing cake. The waitress asked us if everything was fine. I told her my dissatisfaction & she got an attitude & didnt care. I was ready to order another dessert but she didnt ask.She just walked away. Disappointed!I am giving 3 stars for the other employees that they were very nice with ALL of us.
You guys should be more friendly with your delivery drivers, we are making you guys money. If a driver calls to ask if the order is ready it doesn’t cost anything to let us know. Especially that we are working as first responders in this time. Employees should be respectful to delivery drivers.
Id never heard of Crimson American Grill, until someone mentioned they were locally owned. This was well into the pandemic, and having always been a supporter of local businesses, I tried them out via a delivery service. Now Im just mad that Id never heard of them before! And now, I order from them often. Aside from the regular menu, their daily specials offer wonderful treats; their chicken diablo was exceptional, and their meatballs, which were included in an order yesterday pretty much brought my Mom back to life for several blissful bites. - Thank You.They use fresh herbs in their food, and someone, if not everyone, in their kitchen loves food!My first order was the somewhat fussy sounding (but absolutely delicious!) steak florentine. Not only was every ingredient perfectly cooked - they know the meaning of rare, that onions can be cooked to the point of sweet yet still retain texture, and that spinach doesnt have to be cooked into mush- but it was also beautifully plated. In a to go order, no less . . . .If you were lucky enough to grow up eating fresh, well seasoned food, youll probably love Crimson as much as I do.I cant wait to go sit in the space that creates such beautiful food. It surely must be a lovely place and I imagine their front of the house staff pays as much attention to detail as their kitchen~
Beer selection is great and diverse. Boneless buffalo wings are to die for; not heavily breaded and flavorful. Egg rolls are delicious, steaks are great and the pasta dishes are fab! Service is good. Dining room atmosphere is intimate but the bar/patio more casual and social.
I ordered carryout for myself and my parents for their anniversary dinner, since we didnt want to go out. I ordered two Steak Gorganzolas for my father and I, and my mother ordered a Pasta Neptune. Everyone loved it. We typically have went and ordered bar food in the past, so I was surprised how amazing everything the pasta was. Ill have to make an attempt to order again next time Im in the area.
Last night my son took me out for Valentine Day. The service was excellent. Our waiter was great, he was attentive, and treated us well. The steaks were delicious, properly cooked well done!Best part, my food wasnt spoiled by a bloody piece of meat!!!I truly recommend the food. Now as far as the customers, Id rather eat at McDonalds on George St.
I only sit on the bar side or patio. The service and atmosphere are much better over there. Justin (aka Dins) treats our group well as weve become regulars over the years. The food is always good and the drinks made well. They have an excellent happy hour and the menu often has new items or specials.
The service was pleasant, food was excellent. The prices are a little high but on an average scale. Mixed drinks are average size although priced high. My husband and I both ordered the breaded chicken breast (2) with marinara sauce and smothered with cheese that came on a huge bowl of linguini and delicious sauce plus a nice sized piece of garlic bread. Our side that we ordered was a baked potato that we both took home due to the large entree which made us very full. It might be a little high in price but you get what is paid for.
I ordered from @Doordash. I have since deleted the app. I have NEVER been addressed from a manager like I was from Lauren. We we’re missing an item and our sandwich (Reuben) was burnt black. I called and immediately treated as though I shouldn’t have called, or used a 3rd party. Lauren was rude, disrespectful, condescending, and then I find out she’s “the manager on duty”. I understand claims need filed with the 3rd party. I don’t understand how the restaurant has no accountability and treats customers as though they don’t matter. We eat out often and this place will NEVER be an option again. After eating the food we did receive, I can tell you it has gone down hill in a very big way. I’d say eat at the bowling alley close by, it’s the same food but you’ll pay much less.
The food was good and our server was nice but the host staff was absolutely rude and condescending. We accidentally forgot our masks since we were carpooling and one in our party who had a mask went in and asked if it was okay if we came in if we covered our faces with our shirts. They said yes so we did but as we were walking to our table, one of the girls made the rude remark “Not like we haven’t been wearing masks since March.” The looks and behavior of the staff was unbelievable for such a small thing. Things get forgotten and we asked before we even entered. They could have denied us instead of being rude and condescending. Definitely would not recommend because they made you feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.
We had a party of 18 that was put together at the last minute. Turned out very nicely. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their choices. Ask for Jess and you wont be disappointed. This is our go to place when we visit family in the York area. Excellent food, great beer selection, and good, friendly service.
Excellent seating hostess and waitress that combined to create a very relaxed and attentive atmosphere. Fiona and Amanda were great! Timely service. We ordered the caesar chicken salad and the salmon salad. Very generous but not overbearing portions. The salmon was cooked perfectly, and the chicken was succulent and tender. Spacious dining room. Full bar with television tuned to local sports. Good place for NFL sundays. Great food. Excellent parking and easy to spot
The cheese curds were great. Only place I have found that actually has Wisconsin tasting curds. The cream of crab soup nice and smooth. For the main course I had the spicy Tuna. Very good and just the right amount of heat from the peppers. Ben was a great waiter. A great place to eat so bring the family or friends..
My wife and I went to Crimson for our wedding anniversary on 6/14/19 and the staff was super nice and personable from entryway to the end of the meal. The meals were both delicious snd perfectly done. We both got steaks (with a crab cake). The steaks were very good and the crab cakes were also very good. The drink prices is what makes the bill increase fast, but that is everywhere now. Our waiter was top notch and prompt. We had him a year ago too, so that shows staff stays. We will go back again!
Got the fried Cod Sandwich with fries. Portion of fish fit nicely in the bun...not too big, not too small. Cooked perfectly but it was just the fish on a roll with the Old Bay mayo sauce on the side... it couldve used some lettuce and tomato but it was fine without. I would order it again but add lettuce and tomato next time. Never had a bad meal from here, highly recommend.
Been here a couple of times and its nothing special. They are going for a more upscale feel which the atmosphere does fairly well and the prices do reflect that. However, I do not feel that the food meets those expectations. The food was good, but not really any better than most of the other places in the area (just more expensive). Last time I was there it was not overly crowded, but service was still slow. So, overall its an OK place to go, but nothing special and not my first choice.
The food here was really good. I had steak Florentine and then triple chocolate cake for dessert. With tip it cost me $31. Service was good. My friend and I went early and they do offer some early bird specials Mon - Fri until 5:00 pm. Slightly upscale but I was fine in nice jeans. Gets a bit on the loud side as the restaurant fills up - something about the acoustics. All in all a very nice place.
I would say its a 4.5 star establishment. definitely going back great food, great service. Parking lot was full almost didnt stop but found a spot. Was worried about the wait. We had a party of 5 on a Friday night at 6pm, with no reservation. 😬 They said 10min, and I bet it was 7min until we were called. 😊 Anyone with a husband or wife and three kids knows what Im talking about. Everyone loved the food, and I liked the price. A MUST TRY we are definitely going back
Food prices and service are good. Room doesnt have good sound proofing. Voices carry and room is a bit more noisy than most other restaurants. Parking lot is big but usually hard to get a spot on weekends. We will go back anyway. Nice ambiance and bar is away from dining room..
Had the weekly special of half lb of shrimp with Old Bay seasoning. Very good and excellent price. Had the lava cake alamode for dessert. Also very good and reasonably priced! Overall an excellent meal with family. The French onion soup was served promptly after it was ordered.
Ordered from them on Wednesday April 1 a shrimp basket with 2side didn’t get the 2sides and the order was wrong went back got the correct food an they compensated us with the cake.April 4,2019 I recently ordered from there Broccoli and noodles Alfredo afternoon I only ask no meat and didn’t get Broccoli went back and this what I got whole broccoliTo say the same girls that where there the first time was there the second time and being funny I just walk out and didn’t say a wordpoor front desk serviceOnly resin they get 3 star is cause I like the food
Its not often I write bad reviews, but this must be said. The food and craft beer selection is great but theres a certain female server who works on the bar side is just miserable. 3 times now we seem to get her and shes the same way; just impolite. Crimson please correct your servers attitudes that dont wanna be there.
The appearance of the place was very nice the setting is nice it looks like a wonderful place to dine. Thats where the good times ended. They need a manager that can straighten out their menu and a cook that could actually cook and some waiters waitresses that are trained. Unfortunately I will be going back there again closing easy for me to. Maybe theyll get some help and get this thing straightened out. Im not saying I hate that place its a bars nice its nice and side its just mismanaged. Intermed me straighten out and get the food straightened out where its a little more presentable so that looks better and also that it taste better thank you for your that my dining experience. Thank you
The food came out incredibly fast. We barely had two bites of the app before the meals were on the table. Unfortunately thats where the good experience ends. Food was overcooked, which tells me it was just reheated steak given how quickly it came out. Service was slow and the server was MIA for a while. Dining area is LOUD so conversation with others at our table was difficult. The server never checked back in once we had our meals and drink refills werent offered until she brought the check. Just getting the check was another 10 minute ordeal with the server MIA. Dont plan on returning.
Surprisingly good. We walked out stuffed and with 3 carry home bags. Very large helpings and great price. Even my 3 picky kids found menu items they enjoyed. Our waitress was polite and on the ball. She brought everything out hot and our sodas were kept full the entire time. Only regret was we were too full for dessert. We will be back next time we travel through York area.
Very good food in with a nice selection of beer. The bar area has a few TVs to catch your favorite sporting event. The parking is easy and the restaurant is easy to notice from a car.The servings are big too big really. An area for improvement is smaller plates. For example, the burgers are a 1/2 pound, the salads are very big. I do recognize that there is a line between servings size and perceived value, but I would love to see an expansion of smaller plates, like sliders, wings, soup and salad combos.
All of the elements of a good restaurant can be found here! Their recipe for success can be attributed to the staffs attentiveness, friendliness, and accuracy. In addition, the menu and drink selection is great! They also have specials on food and drinks most nights.
2nd time I went here. Waitress was an air head. She took my order but forgot my husband. The Food was mediocre. Salad came out with weak tasting ranch dressing. Not more then a minute went by before the entre came out. No time to eat my salad. Did not like the steak and the crabcake had too much filling. The baked potato was black on both ends. Will not be returning to this place again. I expected better for $50 plus a tip that was not deserved.
We stopped in with friends on a Friday around 5 before catching a movie (Frank Theaters is nearby). It wasnt busy yet but the staff looked like they were anticipating a good size crowd. They have a diverse menu so it took a while to make a decision. It was a pleasant surprise seeing fried pickles on the specials menu. It is difficult to get good fried pickle chips in Pennsylvania. I ordered the Bun-less Bruschetta Burger. I dont normally go bun-less but it just sounded good and it did not disappoint, it was cooked exactly how I had asked. The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars was because Ive only been there once so far. I will be going back for one of their pasta dishes. I anticipate updating this to a 5 star.
We went here for dinner based on a recommendation from a good friend. Everything from the comfortable booth, which big guys like me really appreciate, to the salads, to the roast duck, which was comparable to my wifes grandmas, and my prime beef filet, which was excellent and Im typically left wishing for a steak on my grill and our top-notch waitress, Elizabeth, we could not have had a better experience. We rarely have alcoholic drinks so were out the for under $63 including a 20%++ tip. We will be back real soon!!
This is one of those restaurants I like to call a Yuppie restaurant. The kind that pair sides with the entree that you cant or dont eat and they wont allow you to substitute unless you pay extra. All the sides are the same price so why cant I substitute apple sauce for the rice they are trying to push on me and Im not allowed to eat? Why am I suppose to eat what THEY think I should eat? I will go somewhere else where they allow me to eat what I want to eat since I am the one paying the bill.
Seated in 10 minutes on a Friday night. The food was great and there is something for everyones price range from burgers in the 8 dollar range to fancier pasta meals in the 15 dollar range to more high class meals like the steaks in the 20 to 30 dollar range. Everyone at my table had a great time and we had a really nice waitress. The prep of the food was a little slow but the waitress had informed us when we sat down and ordered that they were slammed. I was expecting more like 30-60 minutes extra wait time for anything after that remark but it maybe ended up being 10-15 minutes slower than expected so I cant complain. Food was prepped nicely and our waitress earned her tip but you can definitely tell on a Friday night the wait staff is busy so when they come by make all your requests then because it will sometimes be 10 minutes before you can catch up with them. Overall a pleasant dining experience with the in laws so I think this may be our new favorite York restaurant.
I’ve been here a few times before and food was good. I was here with family during Sunday brunch when I ordered the breakfast burger. I had ordered that with a side of broccoli to replace the potatoes that came with it. My food came out, with the potatoes, and there was a hair in the potatoes. I returned it as soon as I saw a waiter and informed him of the hair. Granted, I didn’t want the potatoes in the first place, which I had reassured the waiter, but no one came out to double check the rest of our food or have a manager address the hair issue. I wasn’t looking for a discount on our bill, just some genuine concern about health issues and assurance that better care would be taken for future patrons. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen, so we will be taking our business elsewhere.
Ok, last night (11/23/19) was the very first time weve ever been disappointed at this restaurant and weve gone here MANY times before and always recommend it. Im going to blame our disappointment on our waitress, Krista. Our family of four ordered our meals. 3 out of the 4 wanted cream of crab soup. When ordering, we were to get 2 sides. We told the waitress we wanted soup as 1 of our sides. She said, ok but that it would be a little upcharge. We said, ok, that is fine. When we got our check, the soups were full price! I questioned Krista and she said she would check with the manager. She came back and didnt really have a good answer on why the soup wasnt part of our meals. To me, that wouldve been nice to know because in the end, we were entitled to another side since the soup didnt really count as a side. I wish this wouldve been explained better to us in the beginning. I also wish the manager wouldve walked out to explain what happened and how it all worked. It will be quite some time since we return back.
I spend several hundred dollars a week taking clients to Crimson. Today was terrible. Food was unacceptable and hair in my soda. Cheeses fries with burnt cheese on them and chicken fingers that we so hard you couldnt bite into them . Soup was watered down and tasteless. I paid 82.00 plus to to because I realize it is not the servers fault but whomever is in the kitchen couldnt even qualify to prepare my dogs lunch..it was a disgusting experience sadly it was my family I took there today. The last time not much better but I thought it was an off day. They eliminated items like crab dip which was always good. The bruschetta was the only food item that was tasty. Still hungry. I will not be returning with clients or my family until someone starts monitoring the kitchen for food quality and presentation.
I took my mom to eat here for mothers day (5/10/15) and it was an excellent meal. We shared a crab dip appetizer which was excellent. We both got the special which was the seafood platter which consisted of haddock, stream shrimp, crab cake and scallops. Everything was good but the crab cake could have had some more lump crab meat to it as it was mostly filler. I had 2 coors lights and my mom had a margarita. It was a great meal for only $75 for the two of us. It was money well spent and will go back numerous times.
We went to Crimson this weekend and really enjoyed our experience. Our waitress however was lacking in service. I would have purchased another drink if we were even able to find her. I love this restaurant and have had wonderful experiences there. The space is lovely and the food is outstanding.
While Crimson isnt perfect, it does a lot of things very well. The food and service arent spectacular but its about as good as youre going to find in York, PA. Decor is fitting with three different styles of seating; more upscale dinning room, a friendly, outgoing bar area and a relaxed patio area. Depending on what mood youre in or whatever youre celebrating you can choose the ambiance to match your mood.Ive eaten here 2 or 3 times now and Ill say this about their food. Its really good BUT it would be amazing. Ive noticed theyre quite tentative to apply any sort of spice or zing to a dish. Be creative, be bold, add that extra cayenne pepper, break out that seasoning and go to town, dont get bogged down in friendly dishes. Things that have an Indian or Asia influence should have bold flavors. Aside from that minor critique, I cant find much else wrong. Service has also been solid, not spectacular, but solid and price is appropriate. Slightly on the expensive side to most folks but nothing you wont spend at your higher-end chain restaurants.I would recommend this to friends and I have already, keep up the good work.
Havent been wowed here on my few trips like so many others have. Food was good my first trip but only so so since then. Staff is very nice and professional , interior decor is drab and dark but by the bar is really bright and spaced out well. I wouldnt recommend but I also wouldnt go so far as to say stay away either.
My friend Joe and I went to the Crimson American Grill last weekend and were somewhat skeptical after reading the reviews.Other reviews i have read, state that they do not like the decor.I think this place was decorated perfectly in my opinion, a few pictures of classic cars in certain booths, a brick wall, very nice ceiling design overall simplistic but done perfectly. Our waiter came about 15 seconds after we were seated. Our drinks were brought out less than a minute later.Food took Maybe 15-20 Minutes to come out.The soup my friend ordered came out within 2 minutes and he said it was the best soup he ever had of that kind (some sort of crab soup i forget.)We both got a steak and 2 half racks of ribs, which we got the extra half rack for a steal. The ribs were flawless, delicious, very good tasting barbecue sauce. (It either was sweet baby rays or very comparable.)The steak, was just steak. It was good but i agree with some other reviews. The steak could have used some Montreal steak seasoning or something like that.Mashed potatoes were very good, one of my favorites at a restaurant. All waiters and waitresses were dressed professionally and very nice.I would highly recommend this place if the service could be duplicated.Had a great time.Prices were comparable but slightly higher than applebees or something similar. They also have an outdoor bar area that i would like to check out next time i am in york.
Absolutely disgusting. My husband and I went here last night after reading decent reviews online and I have no idea how it has been given good reviews. At first glance, we thought it was a cute place. Once we sat down, we were given dirty glasses to start. You could see food and residue along the rim of the glasses. Still, we thought maybe that was just a fluke. We got an order of their chicken quesadillas and it was the grossest chicken I have ever tasted. The minute we bit into the quesadilla, you could tell the chicken had a funny taste and was old chicken. We opened the quesadilla to look at it and it was slimy and gross looking. I wish we saved ourselves the $50 we spent and found a cleaner spot with fresh food!
ASSEMBLY LINE JUNK FOOD, THEY BEHAVE LIKE A COOKIE CUTTER CHAIN PLACE, THEY TAKE NO PRIDE, BASICALLY DRESSED UP, NASTY FAST FOOD, COMPLETE WITH A NEGATIVE ATTITUDE FROM AN INCOMPETANT SERVER WITH NO SENSE OF URGENCY-anybody remember Boston Market? Youre BETTER OFF eating there- youll get the same experience and save a BOAT LOAD of cash.Things began on a positive enough note- the place was gorgeous on the inside, great ambiance, we were seated quickly enough (on their outdoor deck, which was very cozy and welcoming); they have a relatively impressive beer selection, we ordered, beverages came out quickly enough. After that, though, it was very evident that the staff of this restaurant has no sense of urgency or pride. As a server, if you happen to notice that the piece of salmon thats on your guests salad appears to be made of plastic, most folks, I can only assume, would investigate, rather than just..... seeing if you can get away serving it?I dont know what the cook AND server were thinking! This was hardest, driest, most over-cooked poor excuse for a piece of fish that I have ever seen in my life. I got a MAJOR attitude when I brought it to the servers attention, and it took (I was frustrated, so I actually DID time this) 36 minutes for the fresh piece of fish to come back out. Again, as said server, if you happened to notice that all the chef did was throw another piece of fish on top of a salad that already looked haphazard and skimpy in the first place, wouldnt you want to possibly request a refresh of the plate? If for no other reason than not taking an earful from the already angry customer? The bowl of crab soup had hardly any crab in it; was more like crab flavored flour goop. You could almost cut it into slices and serve it like pie; and just SO bland. Even the appetizer, spinach artichoke dip, was SERIOUSLY out of proportion; like 8 pieces of, basically, toast (I forget what they actually referred to it as), and a VERY small, poor excuse of a bowl of dip, which had 1 artichoke heart in it. My girl and I didnt even begin to pile dip onto the bread, and only got 3 pieces TOTAL out of the whole dish.To top it all off, it took captain positive attitude server almost 25 minutes- HE HAD NO CUSTOMERS, ZERO- to bring us our check after we asked.Again- if youre even considering eating at this place-STOP IT, AND JUST GO TO A FAST FOOD JOINT....save yourself the trouble and the money; experiences like the one that we had here should NOT come at an average price of $35 per person
It really doesnt deserve a star, we should’ve left from the start.1-no greeting just a “how many, follow me”2-Floor was dirty3-seat full of crumbs4-no greeting from waiter just a “what would you like to drink” rolled his eyes and sent us a different waitress as if we did something to him5-couldn’t order what was listed on the menu because they didnt have it6-Gave us cold bread the butter wouldnt even melt7-food came out mild, asked for fully loaded fries and they came out plain, baked potato with sour cream and butter that came out plain and cold and when it came back The cheese wasnt even fully melted on the fries and they gave me to go sour cream for the baked potato that tasted like sand8-we got no apology no checking in on us while we were eating, so no drink refill until i was done.We Definitely did not leave a good tip for this kind of service and definitely wont recommend anyone this place. Dont let the outside fool you, good just for drinking at happy hour and maybe after you’re drunk you wont care how the food comes out! McDonald’s has better service than this place🤨 probably cleaner to
After dropping my son off at York College. Stopped to eat at Crimson with my wife and other son before coming home. This place was very impressive and the food is awesome. Going back very soon with more family because I told them about how great this place was. So now were all going from Md to Pa baby
My family and extended family went here for my birthday. Apart from a previous party still occupying the table we had reserved (which was not the fault of the restaraunt) we had a great experience. The food was good, the sevice was good, and the place is clean. I cant ask for more.
Seafood trio special, with broiled salmon, jumbo shrimp and a crabcake, was amazing! Salmon melts in your mouth.Ordered 1/2 price Monday appetizer of crab dip; it was just okay, no large lump meat pieces or anything remarkable about it.Server was friendly but kind of scarce. We had finished our appetizer before he returned and we could draw his attention to our table was missing flatware. We indulged in sharing a slice of Smith Island cake. I had never heard of it before, but hubby, Maryland native, had. Atypical of the standard 10 layer dessert, Crimson served a rich, decadent 7 layer variety, tasting reminiscent of an infamous Berger cookie, yet in cake-form!
Me and my boyfriend were here last Friday night and I have to admit from one bartender to another ... I didn’t enjoy his service! One if I you my I.D in your hand don’t place it on the counter as if you don’t want to touch me. And that’s pretty much how the whole visit went, until I forcefully caught the checkbook as he was laying it on the counter. Two the rice pilaf was not rice pilaf, it was white rice! I had to ask for a box instead of being offered one when it was obvious that we both didn’t finish our food! Then I had to ask for another one instead of him just asking my boyfriend if he needed one as well! Of course if we needed boxes you would think he would offer a bag, buuuuut he didn’t! And at the end we had to interrupt his conversation with another server, about the bad service the server gave to another customer cause there was no manager there, to ask for our tab. Not sure if we automatically looked as if we weren’t going to tip or he just had a long day buuuut that’s why he only ended up with a four dollar tip from me ... I did not enjoy the service!
Ive visited the Crimson Grill a few times for lunch and thought the food was above average. It was really good but didnt blow me away(burgers and sandwiches etc...). Tonight was my first dinner experience. WOW!. I am now blown away. The Grilled Teriyaki Mahi Mahi was superb. It was a very unique flavor and the combination with the angel hair pasta was delicious. I tasted my girlfriends chicken salad... salad(not redundant) and it was also really good. The Baklava dessert was fantastic and the creme brule was also very tasty! In the bar area the service was lightning fast and very friendly. The price is a little high, but for the area and the quality well worth it!Down a star for the price and lackluster sides. For the price of the entre the sides should really dazzle as well.
My husband and I were looking for a place where we could have a nice dinner before attending a show at the Pullo Center. I discovered this restaurant online. I was a little worried when we got there and I saw how many cars were in the parking lot, since we had time constraints. What a pleasant surprise to discover a highly efficient staff and delicious food as well! Our main server was Florin, who did an excellent job of promptly bringing menus and food. He was friendly, yet maintained a professional aura. Other staff made sure we never had an empty water glass (my husbands pet peeve). The Basket-O-Rings were some of the best onion rings weve had. The Shrimp Alfredo was quite good, and the Ginger-Teriyaki Mahi-Mahi was uniquely wonderful (and provided an entire third meal). This location is great if youre looking for a meal before or after a performance at the Pullo Center, or if you are just looking for a nice locally-owned (i.e. non-chain) restaurant. Everything on the menu looks appetizing. Just writing this review has me craving another serving of the Mahi-Mahi! We dont go out to eat often, and this restaurant isnt close to our house, but I plan to return in the future.
I like the atmosphere, however the food is sub-par for a restaurant at this price point. I think the closest comparison I can make would but a chain restaurant like RT maybe. Tastes like the food is prepared weeks in advance and frozen, then reheated. I know the restaurant biz is tough but this restaurant is disappointing.
I will not be returning here, ever. We were seated immediately, however, it took 30 minutes for our waiter to come to take our drink order. It was not at a busy time either. Décor is almost depressing, very plain, nothing exciting to talk about or look at. The meat quality is very low grade. My steak had no flavor, very bland. My girlfriend had the grilled salmon. It tasted burnt and rubbery. She became sick and vomited as soon as we got home. Also, prices are extremely over-priced. This is not a place you want to go to have a nice dinner. This was the first time we ate here. We will not be returning. Very disappointed, you will be too.

2022-04-17Very nice meal with family! Had delicious fish and chips with creamy slaw, broiled salmon and rice, crab cake on pretzel roll, Reubens and baked beans as well as luscious desserts! Excellent attentive server!

2021-09-15The restaurant is welcoming and sets a nice tone from the moment you enter. The staff have all been helpful and inviting. In this instance, the waitress was excellent. She was pleasant and engaged, and this makes for such a more enjoyable meal. We got a very nice red blend wine. The crab dip was ok...being from southern Maryland though, this is a family favorite and has to be right. The meals themselves were very enjoyable. There arent alot of side options and that is disappointing. Both recent times I went, the daily side dish was a baked potato...not super exciting. I should mention that the first time was for a snack and cocktails after work. That time, the crock of chili and happy hour margaritas were well worth the trip!

2021-09-14We pass this place many times a month and kept saying that we need to eat here. Well we finally did stop. I have to say that I was not disappointed. Looking that the menu the prices seemed a little high for the selection but it seemed like after we got our food the prices seemed fair. Appetizer the crab dip was good and the chili is one of the best restaurant chili recipes that I have had in a long time. The steak was medium rare, which what we ordered and the shrimp was good. The desert list looks good and they say that the deserts are from the local bakery, which we have stopped at and are familiar with. Our server was awesome. Very attentive, kind and patient. It probably helped that we came early and it was not busy, but regardless very pleasant.

2021-12-22Crimson used to be a favorite of ours - we ate here two to three times a week at one point (the photo included of our receipt from tonight shows what an average order is for us). What wasn’t to love? Locally owned, friendly staff, close to home, and great food - all of these pros used to make the price of dining here worth it.Those days are GONE. Long gone. I will admit that the food, itself, is still quite good. But *something* has changed at Crimson. We started noticing a drop off in service about a month ago. Orders weren’t coming out to our table correctly and such. We never made a big deal out of it. Never asked for a discount or to speak with a manager. Just addressed the issues with the serving staff when they occurred. Well, the downward trend has escalated and tonight, after having to address multiple errors with our meal - including the absence of one of our meals - the poor professionalism and downright rudeness of our server was enough and we finally asked to speak with a manager. Lauren, the manager, came to our table and we relayed the issues we’ve been having dining here, the problems with our meals, and the way we were treated tonight by our server only to be, for all intents and purposes, brushed aside by the manager. Absolutely no attempt made by the manager to even ask how she could make things right for us and how to keep us as customers beyond the offer to change our server (which, by this point, was of no use to us).Such a shame that the service at Crimson has become so poor. We hate that what used to be our favorite local restaurant is now the one restaurant in York we will actively tell people to avoid.

2022-01-30Celebratory lunch date! Made it right before the dinner rush and am glad we did because it was packed as we left. Our server, Allie (sp) was attentive and the food was good!

2022-04-27What an amazing establishment and staff! I was trying to find a nice place to take our staff out from Thornton Chevrolet for an Administrative Professionals’ Day lunch, so I contacted Crimson and they advised me that they were closed at lunchtime, however they offered to open the restaurant up just for us to have our lunch party there! The entire staff was very attentive, and so friendly. On top of everything, I don’t think a single person was left with an empty drink. The owner, George, has truly done an amazing job training his staff and running this business. I would highly recommend Crimson to anybody looking for a great place to eat.

2022-05-11My family and I have enjoyed our meals at Crimson for years now, especially on holidays, but it is becoming less and less enjoyable because of the hostess Lauren. She is usually the one who answers the phone and is at the front door. Over time I have noticed her unwelcoming tone of voice, belittling comments and negative interactions. While this has occurred over time, the events on Mothers Day hit an all time low and I feel as though I should share my experience. I called on Saturday to make a reservation for any time on Mothers Day for 3 people and I was told there were no openings at all but I could walk-in. On Mothers Day, my family and I came to the restaurant with high hopes. As we were begrudgingly greeted by Lauren, she promptly told us that we were welcome to go to the bar side as they were booked. We were able to get a seat there. The gentleman serving us and the bartender were working so hard to serve the entire bar area. Their service was wonderful and we were able to enjoy our holiday and the delicious meal. However, when I finished my meal, I went to peek in the dining room....more than half of the booths and tables were vacant. I can understand some tables being open while waiting for the reservation time but there were a lot of smaller tables available that could have accommodated us. I spoke with a few other people who were there in the bar and heard similar stories as to what happened to me- their small family wanting a reservation and being told they had no openings but many open tables.Because of the other staff and the great food, I have put Lauren’s actions aside in the past. But this was my breaking point and I will be trying out different restaurants while Crimson, hopefully, fixes their management, or lack thereof.

2022-03-10Ate there for the first time and it was great. Food was served hot and was delicious. Steak was cooked just how I asked for it. Crab cake was mostly crab with minimum binder and filler. Dessert was great. Service was good on what looked to be a very busy evening dinner rush on a Friday. Will definitely be going back.

2022-04-12First time here. Loved it! The chicken Parmesan meal (my husband’s) was HUGE! He loved the homemade sauce!I had a pasta with shrimp special which was also very good. Nice outdoor covered / heated patio area as well! We’ll be back!
