Please watch “The Conservation Game” to understand how animals are treated. Big cats are kept in 15 boot cages at this place, much like prison for humans. If you want to text your children to be terrible people you should totally bring them to this place. Plus the owner is really ugly. The female one.
This place is so cute! The owner and the workers were extremely friendly and down to earth. It was fun to feed and interact with all the animals there. The buffalo was so sweet and so were the lemurs! The owner was so generous that he let me feed the baby camels their milk! Go here if you want a personal, low key interaction with wild animals. :)
Pros:This was a very nice place for kids. A great experience for the family. The animals were up close and hands on.Cons: I had to give it a four star because its not suitable for handicap or disabled people. The terrain is difficult for wheelchairs and those who walk with the aid of canes or walkers.
This was a well hidden gem. We had never heard of this place and decided to try it because there were excellent reviews. There are a lot of animals, well cared for, and very friendly. If you like a lot of hands on interaction with animals this is the place to go. We had a great time and we will visit again soon!
This is one of the most awesome places I have ever been. It doesnt smell like a zoo. The owners are truly passionate about the animals. They are well taken care of and seem to be super healthy. I would recommend this for everyone to visit. Better than any zoo Ive ever been to. You would not regret the trip there.
For the price, it is definitely worth a drive out. I nice variety of animals that youre up close to. The staff were all very friendly, and it was clear from walking around that the animals are all well taken care of. I will say though, the amount of parking was limited, but there was a large birthday party going on at the time, so Id say thats an extreme circumstance.
I absolutely love this place. We visit a few times a summer. Its so fun and such a beautiful place to spend the day with the family. We got our newest family member from here this past summer. Our kitten Luna. She is the best. Very loving & friendly. Her and my son (age 2) are constantly playing together. She sleeps next to him and they chase each other daily. The animals here have so much room to run and be free. The gift shop is affordable. I like that we can bring our own food in to eat there. Plus its only 10 mins from my house. Even if it wasnt close, Id drive to visit. The employees are so friendly. The animals are cute and seem happy, not miserable like some zoo animals. This will always be my favorite family fun day spot.
Absolutely amazing people doing amazing work in animal rescue/welfare and education. We held a birthday party here and they accommodated 48 people and had things for both adults and children. I cant thank them enough for being such amazing people and treating our friends and family with respect. Not a single person left there unhappy (except for the children we could hear crying because they didnt want to leave!) Excellent place!!!
I took my boyfriend and our 9 month old son here today and let me tell you... I had a wonderful experience. They had more animals than I had initially thought. Everything from black bears, tigers, panthers, zebras, all sorts of birds, kangrooes, wolfs, bob cats, horses, cows, pigs, monkeys, lemurs, goats.. etc. All the staff there were extremely friendly w. great customer service skills as well.... it’s not too big. It probably took us about an hour and a half to walk through the whole thing. It wasn’t crowded which was nice.... only reason why I wouldn’t rate it a 5 star because some of the signs that tell you about certain animals were to far to read or there wasn’t any.. but overall great experience.
I can not express enough how remarkable my experiences have been at Critter Country! Tucked away from the busy chaos on the highways, just a short distance beyond the Smithton exit, you will experience everything from dedicated wildlife preservation to the most genuine animal enthusiasts I’ve ever met. A small grass lot makes up the parking area (note that I said “dedicated wildlife preservation”) and the start of your adventure is introduced with a cozy gift shop. I was very kindly welcomed at the front desk by a woman named Jane. She was so polite in answering all of my questions about rules and prices. The prices to get in are far lower than they could be charging in my opinion! Over 100 different species of animals are clearly on display, some being able to feed and pet! The enclosures are extremely well maintained and all of the animals are visibly in great health! Each time I have visited, it takes about 2 hours to pass through seeing all the animals. The staff are pleasantly social and more than catering to any questions. I’m the type to ask a lot. I was fortunate enough to meet the owners. Both are vibrant personalities who genuinely care about your experience! My favorite part of everything there is the fact that there’s no doubt in my mind, these people own and operate this business with passion for wildlife and dedication to treat it well. There is a convenient portable John restroom just behind the gift shop. It was surprisingly clean and I was even more excited about the hand sanitizer! Overall, the only negative aspect that I can highlight is that they do eventually have a closing time and I can’t just stay forever!
Nice little zoo located away from the bustling roads. Never crowded, not expensive. Many animals can be handfed, and they have feed you can buy. Not a big place; you wont be here all day. Be advised that the parking area is a grassy field, not a paved lot. Great little place.
This is over of my favorite stops in Pennsylvania. I shake hands with a lemur, feed the bear (and kangaroos and alpacas and deer... And the goats will make sure to get something), the predator area is always exciting. Great place for a picnic lunch and fun for the kids!
Great people, you should make a donation they rescued many of these animals and dedicated their lives to taking care og them. They have a lot to see it can. Be a littel muddy in spots if it rains so dont wear flip flops. The Bear cat was my favoriteI tool my 80yr mother she loved it and feed some animals. I m taking my 1year granddaughter soon.
This is a fun eclectic animal sanctuary with the most unusual combination of exotic, domestic and farm animals. We were pleasantly surprised..... The grounds are simple and the staff friendly. The only public bathroom is a porta John with no sanitizer.... But there are a few non plumbed hand cleaning stations. A baby tiger Cub was resting with Aussie dogs. Camels, ostrich, Alpaca, wolf, bears, zebras, macaws housed with chickens. A very unexpected combination throughout. Small gift shop with some drinks. Its a interesting and inexpensive experience thats up close to animals that you often never get so close to.
This place is outstanding! I could not believe the dedication and passion this couple has for animals. They rescued many of these animals from unfortunate situations and have given them a loving and nurturing home. You must see this place and support this unique establishment.
We werent sure what to expect, but honestly this petting zoo exceeded our expectations! A nice variety of animals and enclosures are close that you can actually see the animals. The fennek foxes were adorable! The ringtail lemurs were very active! Peacocks were proudly prancing around in the open! It was just fantastic and definitely worth the admission price! Small gift shop. Be sure not to pass it up, cause we did ...sort of hard to spot from the road.
Good amount of animals. Its like a mini zoo but you can feed and pet them all. But the cages and fences need to be fixed. There is wire just hanging down and the poor goat kept getting stuck in it. I had to stick my arm in the enclosure to try and help him get free twice. If the fences were built better they would get more stars. But right now it is just unsafe for the animals
The farm animals were neat but I kind of felt bad for the large cats and monkeys and wolves and bears. Im sure they are taken care of just fine but thier enclosures were not very large and Im just not a huge fan of wild animals in captivity. When I went, I thought it was just going to be farm animals and llamas and stuff.
Since this is a Google Maps listing Im giving a negative review because it says they are open right now for business drove all the way out here to find theyre closed for the season any reputable business would know how to go on and update the hours and Mark closed for the off-season
We attempted to go about 6 weeks ago. The website said to call ahead to see if they would be open. We called at 10:30, the voice message said they would be open. We drove an hour and a half to see it. When we got there it wasnt open. We tried the phone number again and then it just rang busy. We banged on the doors and called out and nobody came. A wasted trip. Terrible experience we will never go back.

2022-06-25Horrible living conditions. Please do NOT come here and report these people. It is a run down, family ran backyard. Tigers are kept in small cages. Animals are clearly overheated. Goats get their heads stuck in the wire. We even reported the goat being stuck and the employees blew us off. It wasnt until the second time that we witnessed a bison ramming the poor goat that we had to force them to help the goat. Disgusting place. Please take my word for it, or your experience, and report these people. They are not qualified to run this.

2020-06-28We didnt want to spend alot of money at Pitt Zoo 😫but needed somewhere to take the kids, thankfully they were open!🙌😃 Cool animals you can feed (praying the carnivore section will open soon) and a great experience. At first my city babies were afraid of the goats n chickens that roamed but by the end, they didnt want to leave. Worth the 40 min drive!Well be back again!

2019-09-02My husband, kids and I absolutely love this place! If you have never been here, then you are missing out. Plenty of different animals to feed and touch. The owners are amazing people! So friendly and so knowledgeable! We will continue to visit and watch the little ones grow up and be excited for any and all new arrivals.

2022-06-13It’s was a shame we drove over there on Saturday because it said it was open and they were actually closed for a wedding then we just drove out there again so my grandkids could have something to do and they don’t answer the phone and the card machine wasn’t working. Cash only. The girls at the tent said sorry and we didn’t hear the phone. A little rude.

2018-08-14I was skeptical when my friend wanted to have her birthday party at a petting zoo, but it was actually really fun. We even got to feed the big cats at the end of the day. I would definitely go back here. The people who run the place are very cool as well. This would be a great place to do an event like a birthday party.

2020-02-04Had a really nice time here, definitely worth a visit, petting zoo/farm environment so wear appropriate shoes and definitely buy extra carrots and feed when u pay for admission - this was a reasonably priced outing for the family even the 15yr old enjoyed it- ostriches, tigers, wolves, pigs, camels, lemurs, to name a few - well maintained animal enclosures and great staff super friendly and happy to answer questions.

2021-08-25Went there this past weekend and thought this place was a fantastic hidden gem. I would recommend a visit here for sure. The animals were all pretty active and happy looking. Properly priced and recommend buying extra feed of your choice. Everyone with us had a great time and would come back again for sure.Only thing I would recommend is to have a proper rest room/sanitary station in the front/exit with the temp hand cleaning stations moved to other corners for maximum coverage with touching numerous animals/items.
