I came here twice and received pretty good service both times, not the most attentive staff but the menu is fantastic, theres a good amount of choices. They have daily specials and the food tastes great! This is a roomy bar so you likely can always find a place to sit and the staff is pretty laid back.
This is one of my favorite go to spots for lunch. The ambience is great...I love the subdued lighting and the cool art on the walls. Their food is always awesome! One item that I absolutely CANNOT get enough of is their fried green tomatoes! I am a meat eater and I will gladly forgo all meat just to eat this flavorful savory plate of happiness!!!!
Just left this place with my daughter all imma say is the service was 💯 the food omg the bomb.com💯 ookay Those ribs mash potatoes off the hook I love their fried green tomatoes first time having them they were really good mac& cheese really good I will be back for sure to eat more of that good food 😋
Honestly best brunch/lunch spot! Staff is always in their “A” game. I love sitting at the bar upstairs with the street view! I remember way back in the day they had good blood Marys. The Palomas on my last trip from the bartender were excellent. Also put my order in right away. And had plenty of time to eat before catching my train back home. I am happy yous survived all of this. Cheers!
I never leave reviews but this place was awful. They got almost every single order wrong and they tried to charge us for things we didn’t even get. The manager took 20 minutes to come before finally telling us there was nothing he would do about it and we should pay the full price. Huh? When I told him we lived locally and he was throwing away future business for nothing, he shrugged, said he didn’t care, and walked away. Yeah do yourself a favor and skip this place if you want food/drinks. There are plenty of better options nearby.
The food was great. I had the Cobb salad with grilled chicken and the Chipotle dressing and it was delicious. Also had the fried green tomatoes and macaroni and cheese appetizers. Everything was great. Plus a couple ice cold beers. I would definitely go back to this place.
I think the chicken tacos with mango and the special sauce are the best plate in the menu. I felt bad for my waitress as it was obvious that they are understaffed. At some point they lost electricity and they could only accept cash. Despite this, great food and great service.
Heard about this location from a friend who has been here and they raved about the food. So my gf and I came we were absolutely not disappointed, the service was awesome, the drinks were very well made and the food was DELICIOUS!!! Had the chicken and ribs combo and the meat was falling off the bone. Im not a coleslaw person but their coleslaw was so good. Definitely coming back!!!
I was recommended this place by a fellow foodie. I ordered alittle bit of everything. Drink was a Pink Lemonade-5… It was so strong all you need is 1… 2 if you’re trying to get lit😅. What we ordered for food was Jerked wings-3 1/2, Mahi Mahi Tacos-3, Herbed Chicken Sandwich-5, Philly Cheesesteak Rolls-5, Chicken Quesadilla-2 (too many onions) and last but not least Grilled Romaine w/ shrimp-5. I rated them on a scale from 1-5. Overall I recommend this place. Cheers 🥂
Ordered a salmon burger and St. Louis ribs. The salmon burger had an Asian slaw on top with a spicy mayo on the side to smear on the bun. Fries and a pickle. The ribs were spicy dry rub and WOW, they did not disappoint! The best ribs Ive ever had - no exaggeration!!! Fries and slaw. Service was fast and easy.
Visited Philly this past weekend and stopped here for Brunch with a friend. It was located around the corner from the hotel I was staying in, so I gave it a shot. The Sirloin Beef Burger was AWESOME! Its the best burger Ive had in a long time. Very flavorful. I had it with Provolone Cheese and mushrooms with Beer Battered Onion Rings. Sooooo delicious. Good prices. Excellent service too. Definitely will visit this Bar and Grill again.
Amazing food! Pulled pork sandwich is one of my favorites, ask for extra BBQ!. If you get there before the weekday lunch rush they have a few tables by the balcony with a nice view of Chestnut street. It WILL get crowded during lunch, but the food and atmosphere is really great. 10/10 would recommend.
The Sonesta (Fran) recommended this place to us and made the reservation for our party of 10 for dinner on a Saturday night. We were given a private table upstairs. Our table was ready when we arrived and our server and everyone running food to us was excellent. Our food orders came out fast, correct, and hot. Everything was well seasoned and excellent. Best meal of my weekend trip. I had a bacon cheeseburger and sweet potato fries.I do not recommend the iced tea if you drink it plain. It was a strong brew and Im not sure sugar would have helped it. I stuck to water.
Came here with my friend for restaurant week and had a great time! Our waiter Todd was wonderful! Super attentive, friendly, and helpful. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We made a 5:00 reservation on a weekday and had plenty of time to enjoy the food and talk without being rushed out. They also had some reasonable drink specials going on for happy hour. I also highly reccomend getting the brownie dessert; super warm and fudgy served with fresh whipped cream.
I recently coordinated a holiday gathering at Devils Alley and was incredibly happy with the level of service and our entire experience. Lauren was a pleasure to work with to get everything organized and coordinated. On the night of our event, we were situated in a beautiful semi-private space upstairs with plenty of room for guests to stand and chat around high top tables or sit and eat. All of the food and drinks were delicious. Our server and the manager both took great care of us. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend for a small gathering space!
Absolutely loved it here. The workers are phenomenal. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. The crowd was really diverse and the drinks were so cheap! Went for happy hour and had a great time. If youre in the philly area definitely stop by and check it out. Dont let the name scare you away! Lots of fun waiting for ya.
Easily the best buffalo chicken sandwich in the city. Really the best anywhere. Its not your typical breaded chicken dipped in buffalo sauce but a cleaner and tastier version. Otherwise, the Philly Cuban is excellent and the rest of the menu is great. Good service, seating on two floors and outside. Great for a casual or business lunch.
This place was my favorite bar for 2 years while I was living in Center City. The staff is always helpful, and incredibly accommodating. Although, dont be scared by the bathroom, its graffitid for the look. If you go, highly recommend a Sunday trip for margarita pitchers or $3 craft bottles on Tuesdays. The burgers are cheaper than Shake Shack and a million times better. Guacamole Bacon & Cheddar comes highly recommended. Go for the happy hour, stay for the food.
Kind of late visit (10:30pm Saturday night) and we were pleased the kitchen was still serving full menu. Seating was available upstairs and our server Meghan was very nice and helpful. The food was delicious. I had the salmon burger and my friend had the pulled pork sandwich. Mine came with fresh cut fries, also tasty, and my friend ordered a side of fries with his. His fries were not as hot as he liked and he asked Meghan to bring some fresh ones which she did with no problem. The prices arent cheap but not over the top either for the quality it seems. We really enjoyed our meal and I will likely go back and try other dishes on the menu.
Places like this are one of the reasons why Philadelphia is my favorite place to eat in the United States. Center City has long been considered highly livable as far as big cities go - and Devils Alley had an absolutely welcoming ambiance which made you want to spend more time and enjoy your meal. While Ive dabbled in their breakfast skillets, which were quite good, what I found truly incredible were the hamburgers and their Chorizo burger was one of the best burgers Ive had in recent memory. This joint is a Friday night kinda place, and dont neglect to pair your food with a pint - something dark and malty to match the dimly lit aesthetic of this restaurant. Come when its cold and rainy to forget about the day for awhile.
They have some really good burgers at this place. I highly recommend the surf and turf Burger. The server was nice, the food took a little bit longer than it should have. The bathrooms are strange and a little bit smelly downstairs in the basement. I would recommend trying again.
This restaurant is amazing. From the food, the atmosphere, to the service. We had reservation for a restaurant down the the road for my girlfriends 21st birthday and then the restaurant basically has told us that they needed to push our 8:00PM reservation to 9:30PM, so we had decided to go somewhere else (having some people who are celebrating Ramadan, we wanted to get them some food). So then we had called Devil’s Alley and asked about getting a group of tables for 15 and they were so accommodating. The food was not badly priced and neither were the drinks (especially since the portion sizes are so big)! The waitress made sure that we were happy at all times and when there was a mistake, it became the top of her priority list!Soo nice, we really appreciated how easy they made this stressful situation.
Excellent place for starters and drinks. However, I noticed the service was pretty slow last time and also the servers didnt pay much attention. They seemed to be lost in their own little world right across the kitchen. I definitely recommend fried calamari and chicken wings dry rub.
It seems very odd that this place would have no Google Maps reviews, but I assure you that its a great bar. I went a few months ago with my girlfriend, and we both really liked it. Nice atmosphere that isnt too loud or cramped. I dont recall the beer, but I do remember the food- really good. In fact we really havent stopped talking about it since we went. Ill be heading back there soon- crab, bacon, & jalapeño mac n cheese!
Had the Philly Cuban and the rum beverage with hawaiian punch (cant remove the exact name). Sandwich was delish but I didnt think the drink was super strong. Weather was great so my group enjoyed the patio seating. Laid back vibe and I live that sweet potato fries were an option with my meal. Also had the nachos with chorizo as an appetizer and it was great!
Having a sudden need for a burger, the first in six months in the midst of the pandemic, we ordered for pick up at Devil’s Alley. I like my hamburgers medium rare, and actually didn’t know it came with fries that I’ve since learned they hand cut themselves. All was perfect!
Just Awesome. Went on a Saturday Night with a party of 3... sat on the second floor in the back, closest to what is assumed as the kitchen... the pulled pork was GREAT. Someone else from our party got a grilled chicken Caesar wrap that was also amazing... the grilled chicken was so good... tasted even better the next say for lunch.... great prices too.. well definitely be headed back... shout out to our server THOR he was great and what a cool name if its real
After much deliberation, I decided to go to Devils Alley Bar & Grill with some friends to kick-off my 24th birthday. Overall, it was just okay.CONS: They claimed they couldnt find our reservation, and that there was nothing recorded for a party of 8. Once we were seated, we noticed that the restaurant menu didnt match the online menu; since there were allergies / dietary restrictions in our party that night, we were slightly concerned and frustrated. The food was okay, but most of it was bland and/or under-seasoned.PROS: There was a cool drink selection, and a decent atmosphere. Luckily, the hostess was able to make some arrangements to accommodate our reservation after a few minutes.I probably wouldnt return - especially not for an occasion.
One of the worst dining experiences Ive had. Service was great, server was attentive. Ordered some drinks which tasted as if there was no alcohol in them at all considering their daily special. Appetizers came out warm, probably the worst nachos Ive had. Fries were over salted. Food was overpriced considering the quality. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
A very nice little space with soaring ceilings and trees in the middle. The benches werent super comfy but at least they provided pillows. The restroom is a bit of an adventure. The atmosphere is very nice though and the high ceilings keep it from getting loud when crowded. Breakfast was super tasty with a pretty huge menu and tons of cocktails and drinks. The man mosa which is orange juice with wheat beer was nice and tangy and great in the morning. I dont know why I ordered grits because I normally dont like them, but these were exceptional. They were tasty and flavorful with a bite of bacon in just about every spoonful. The shrimp was also nice and succulent and there was plenty of it.
The place has a great atmosphere, the people are friendly, and the food was delicious. There was no waiting for us, our table overlooked the street, which was great, since I love to people watch. We had some drinks with our brunch, which were decently priced and delicious too. We are looking forward to going back again
Great happy hour deals, friendly service. There is nice seating upstairs that is covered but looks out onto the street. The day we went, their tequila rep visited and the whole place got a round of margaritas on him. I know thats just lucky timing, but wow great experience at this place!
My partner and I stumbled into Devils Alley by accident. It was our first night in Philadelphia and we got caught in the rain - I sure am glad we did!!This restaurant had a beautiful inside with charming decor, great service and staff, as well as some great happy hour deals. Our food was delicious and the rain continued, so we were able to stay and sample out more of their great beer selection. If I had more time I would return here or recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Nice place for dinner and a few drinks. Drink specials are good. Had the entree special on last Saturday of October. Pork Schnizel with Pumpkin Spatzel. Crazy good. Server was dressed as He-man for the costume party later that night. Good vibe and really nice service. Will be back & cant wait!!
My family and I went to devils alley for restaurant week. BAD idea. They shouldn’t have even participated in restaurant week. They left us at the the entrance of the restaurant without anyone greeting us or acknowledging us standing there. Several staff members walked passed us and still never asked if we’ve been helped. Once we was seated the waiter ... omg... Horrible horrible horrible. He had a attitude the whole time. The food was precooked as you can hear them yelling the orders in the back and saying restaurant week. After each order. It was a major disaster . The size of the meals looked like they was kid meal size. Oh it was a big disaster. I gave it 1 star because you had to rate the restaurant. My actual rating is -⭐️
Ordered the crab cake meal to go, and asked to substitute the vegetables for the Cole slaw that came with the dish. So, should have received the crab cakes, French fries and vegetables. Got home, and realized they didnt give me any fries. Called them, and the hostess told me that, since the Cole slaw is so little, THEY decided to replace the French fries instead!!! I expressed that she shouldve informed me of that rather than make that decision for me, especially since the charged me extra for the vegetables! So, they charged me extra AND, didnt give me my full meal!!!! She didnt apologize at all, but instead just said, yea, well thats what happened. And then said goodbye and hung up. It was right before closing, so we couldnt even go all the way back to address the problem in person. Im disgusted, not with the mistake, but with their cavalier attitude towards my complaint about their mistake. I will be sure to let everyone know NOT to patronize this restaurant if you want to be treated well.
My husband and I went in here last week while we were waiting for passport pictures to be done next door. Just wanted to waste some time so we ordered a plate of nachos to share. OMG! We did not expect to taste the most delicious nachos EVER! BEST NACHOS WEVE EVER HAD! They were so good we decided to book a hotel near there for our anniversary in November so we can have more nachos and taste more of the menu. Cant wait!
Not a good experience at all. On one side of us, the girls had sat there the entire length of our meal with finished plates that werent cleared. On the other side of us, a little old lady asked for her iced tea 4 times before eventually getting it. They ran out of knives when they served our meal and our waiter didnt check in on us until he wanted his check. Nobody seemed to know what their role was and was super disorganized. On top of that, the food was just ok; the potatoes were very dry and French toast burnt. Probably not going back.
This bar is definitely chill. Came here for Philly Sips promotion and definitely had a good time! Its definitely a place I would come after work just to relax, have a drink, and possibly eat some food. I think you have to be 21 to eat here, since they checked IDs before we entered.ServiceService was great! Hostess was able to find us a seat right away even though the place was somewhat packed. The server came really soon after we were sitted. Whats great was also she got our drinks out almost as soon as we ordered them! I have to give them thumbs up since it was busy, too. The waitstaff was nice and definitely did a good job on being punctual in coming back to us.FoodDefinitely try the green tomatos!! They were amazing. It was under Philly Sips, so we got 4 for $4.5 (which might sound kind of pricey). According to other reviews, the tomatos were mentioned as well. We also had their sliders, mussels, dry-rubbed wings, and their three-cheese and pesto pizza. The pizza placed second; it was pretty good, but a little oily. The wings were also amazing, but a little charred. The sliders was nothing too special. The mussels werent that great. We werent given a full menu, so I cant give more heads up on their other selections.EnvironmentAlthough relatively small in space, it has two floors. The restaurant also features a nice outdoor area, which is great in good weather. I came during happy hour, so it was relatively packed. Areas in front of the bars were crowded, but it wasnt that hard to get through. The decor is relatively normal.Pros: Service, Fried Green Tomatos,Cons: Crowded during Happy HourRecommendations: Green Tomatos, dry-rubbed wings, pizza.Rating: 4.3/5
The bartender rushed me into making a quick choice and didnt notify me that there would be an upcharge to add cheese to my meal. The place was a mess apon arrival, all tables yet to be bussed. Drink service is subpar and I dont recommend visiting this location. As the name insists, it trully is The Devils Alley.
Came in on a monday afternoon, it was quite sparse with other people. I ordered the nachos and none of the food seemed fresh: the cheese, chips, salsa and such did not seem scratch made or fresh. I didnt enjoy them too much and my friend had ordered the chicken chilli and the chicken was cubed breast meat which was unexpected but what he ordered. Said it was okay, kinda bland. Coulda been nice with some fresh herbs and produce but eh. Just my two cents on when I came to try the food.
Though it is a super busy place, but as soon as you are seated you will definitely like the food, drinks and atmosphere. If you are a burger lover, this place is a paradise for you. The only thing we dont like here is the cleanliness of the restrooms. You have to move forward.
Im sorry I have to rate this at a one! It was first visit and I must say my service was horrible when my boyfriend and a lady sitting near us complained about being served a hot beer and and the bar tender gave a excuse of oh yeah our refrigerator has been going in and out all day! So we made a suggestion of maybe placing them in a bucket on ice if hed continue to offer them he just walks away. Then as Im eating my meal which I had the crab cake platter and I must say it was very tasty! Then as I go to load my fork and see a dead fly on my plate I was so disappointed, not just by the fly being in my food but even more so that the bar tender/manager was not friendly about the matter he just took my plate and said Ill take it to the cook never once apologizing nor asking me if I wanted anything else! Like really I would have been satisfied with just that an apology needless to say he never came back to the table to address the matter. So my boyfriend went to pay the tab and the bar tender/ manager said this isnt the first time that this has happen and Im just going to clear the tab still no apologies!!!!! So I just suggest check your plate very well before and while eating.
Today my family met up with another family for lunch at Devils Alley. 3 kids, 1 baby, 4 adults. I was nervous at fist as most restaurants in Center City arent used to having any kids. But I called ahead and Bill assured it wouldnt be a problem, and took care of setting us up ahead of time. When we got there just (TIP: go before noon to beat the crowds) the table for 8 was already set up including a highchair. My 6 year old appreciated ESPN on the nice flat pan. TV, I appreciated that it didnt have the sound on.Onto the food - great menu for kids and adults. Definitely a southern flavor to it ... apps include Fried Green Tomatoes (YUM) to a number of great-sounding Quesadillas (Crab and Avocado anyone?). Entrees include BBQ chicken or ribs with cornbread, whipped sweet potatoes or mac n cheese. Lots of Salads and sandwiches. The only bummer is that fries or side salad is and additional charge. TIP: I recommend getting the bucket of fries to share instead - great portion and theyre amazing! They easily served 4 adultsThe kids had some amazing chicken strips and a grilled cheese that was to die for. The adults had cheeseburgers, Turkey Cubanos (turkey, pickle, bacon, mustard with tomato jam dip) and a Buffalo Chicken sandwich. Everyone was full and happy.Service was top notch - thanks Amanda! The manager checked in on us, the food came quickly, and the waitress was always available for extra napkins, refills, mustard, etc.Atmosphere is eclectic, I suppose. Rugged industrial meets trendy garden. Open, airy feeling, but a little loud. Not too bad and it helped to cover over any baby noises. So - all in all 4 stars. I think the price could be a little better on the sandwiches - or just include the fries, but overall the menu is a nice change of pace, and the service was top notch.
Bad service and bad food along with a long waits for everything on more than one visit. Just a glutton for punishment I guess and kept returning thinking maybe things would change. Until this place gets new owners, I wont be back. Overall cleanliness saves it from a 1 star.

2022-07-04Went during happy hour. Good food. Onion rings and fries were my favorite. Grilled buffalo chicken sandwich was delish. Changed the hot sauce, the one they had before was better but still good. Jerk chicken tacos were too spicy.

2021-10-15Stopped by for lunch while visiting Philadelphia. I ordered the Jerk Chicken Tacos my wife had the Chicken n Rib combination. The tacos came with a mango topping. Our food was nothing short of delicious.

2022-04-17Its a nice relaxing place but it takes forever for bartenders to take your order for anything. The food was good. Had the basic cheeseburger, considering the fact that it was my first time there so I had to get something you really cant mess up. I suggest looking at the menu prior to going so you dont have to wait 20 minutes to get started.

2022-05-15Great food and drinks; however, very disappointed that our server disappeared and we were left sitting there waiting to get doggie bags and cash out...didnt even get a chance to order more drinks! My wife finally went up to the bar and asked a manager for boxes (which she had to get herself) and our check. Dont know if ill ever go back...really disappointed in how dinner ended. If this is how youre going to treat your customers, hire more staff!!!

2021-07-31I hate the covid happened now they’re no longer selling the calamari,I would go there just for that dish specifically😩I love it here, the atmosphere is chill and cozy. Their food is really good as well, the calamari is my favorite dish, and their wings along with their chipotle ranch sauce is delicious! It’s so much flavor. The waiters/waitresses+the guests are friendly as well, prices are reasonable. Great place for tourists to visit! I’m literally obsessed with their food, go if you haven’t already.

2019-08-26Great bar with a funky modern feel and delicious food options. The whole front of the building opens to the street, which made for great people watching from the second floor. Very spacious location with more seating on the first floor. I had the devils breakfast and it was simple yet flavorful. I would recommend to anyone looking for good food and a very unique atmosphere
