DICKS Sporting Goods in other cities:
Prices can seem a little high so I usually wait for a sale. I ordered online to pick-up in store. Order was ready pretty quickly but they couldnt find one of the items and had to cancel it. When I went to pick-up I didnt see the kiosk directly to the side of the entrance. Waited in line for a few minutes and then the cashier walked me over to the kiosk and explained all the steps for next time while grabbing my order.
I walked in with an idea of what I wanted, I had issues finding 1 item but after asking for help I was able to find it. They are knowledgeable in what they don’t have but will tell you if something they do have is the equivalent or better. For example I wanted insulated socks they don’t sell them but told me that cabin socks were far better at keeping feet warm.
I went there to get baseball pants for my 6 year old son, as tee-ball season is a few weeks away. We just received his uniform requirements from his coach the evening before. They were completely out of youth sizes. A sales person watched me move from rack to rack for quite a while, then the same sales person approached me and asked if there was something that I was looking for? I said, Yes, I am looking for gray baseball pants in a youth small for my 6 year old son His response was, We dont have any, its late in the baseball season. I had said, Tee-ball hasnt started though. He said, We dont go by tee-ball season, we go by high school baseball and as I said, its late in the season His demeanor started to become more angry and I responded by saying, Okay, I understand that, but the size that Im looking for is youth small, not a lot of high school players are wearing youth smalls. He just stared me at me and walked away.Look, I understand that items are out of stock, or that youth sizes are harder to come by, that isnt my what Im frustrated with. The people on the floor should be used to people asking questions. So my tip to this frustrated sales person, please dont approach a customer if youre just going to be angry and unprofessional. Take a deep breath and realize that people are going to ask you questions, especially when your response is flawed.Ordering my athletic gear off of Amazon from now on.
I stopped in to grab a quick gift for the girls in my life. As the father who does not do much clothes shopping I was able to pick out perfect outfits and had a great experience at this location. And their Yeti selection was on point. Got me for 2 on the way to the register.
This place is great for your families sporting needs! Was intimidated thinking they were going to be overpriced but was taken by surprise when i first started coming to Dicks, they have reasonable prices and every time we have needed anything for a sport they have always had what we were looking for! Staff has always been helpful everytime we have been there. Well set up and clean.
On Saturday morning June 1st I went to Dicks Sporting Goods in Erie PA. to purchase a GPS watch for golf as I had left behind in golf carts in the past my hand held GPS, and a range finder at different times. I wanted something that was basically attached to me. Went directly to the golf department and asked a young clerk to show me the GPS watches, he showed me a display, prices ranged from a low of $149.00 up to just under $500.00. I asked what the difference was between them due to variation in price, he said I dont know, I asked could I try some on to see how they fit, he said I cant take it off the display the buzzer will go off. I then said how do you charge it or do you replace the batteries, thats when an older clerk near by said you have to plug in into your computer. I said OH, it has a USB set up, he said I dont know about that but it has to be plugged into your computer, I said ya like my phone, he replied along as it gets plugged into your computer. Here I got sarcastic and said what if I dont have a computer his reply was everyone does. Then I said to the both of them let me get this straight, you dont know the difference between the various watches and brands, I cant try one on, you cant show me a box so I could look at the charging port or plug, I then did say what the hell good are you guys, thru my hands up in the air and walked out. my plan was to buy, not shop but buy a GPS watch and golf balls for my wife, I left with nothing didnt spend a dime. Ultimately went to small golf shop didnt buy a watch but bought another type GPS, my golf balls and also had 2 custom clubs made, spent over $700.00 at the next shop and Dicks lost the sale and actually got me to write my first ever review of a business, because I didnt get treated like a customer that actually wanted to spend dollars at Dicks. Truly amazing way to run a business. I own a business I have sales personnel, If I ever heard one of my people talking to a customer so ignorantly within 30 seconds theyd be on the outside looking in.
Some staff on the punching bag section are wird. One lady in the store looked mean when she asked if she can help me. At least smile even a little. I know she is not . But you have to make customers feel welcome, if not, they will feel regected and they will never come back to that store. Products for sale are very good. You can find good staff there.
After doing much research on the fishing kayak I wanted, I set out to find one. I turns out at the present time they are rare due to being a new model. Dicks Sporting goods in Erie was the only store in the area with one is stock. After spending almost $2000 on the kayak I got it home and started the simple assembly. When assembly was almost complete I noticed some vital parts were missing. The rudder assembly pins and seat slider retention parts were missing. I understand that things like this can happen so the next day I made an attempt to contact the person I bought the kayak from (Dan) to let him know of the issue so we could get the parts ordered. He wasnt working and I was told that he was the only one that could help me so I called him and left him a message to call me back when he was working again. 2 days, no call. I called and again left a message. the next day he returned my call and I let him know of the issue. he said he was going to call the kayak company and call me back in which he did fairly quickly. He said that I needed to send him pictures of the hull (serial) number and the assembled kayak and pictures of where the missing parts were and he would get the parts ordered. The next day I emailed him the pictures and information he requested. After the email I called him to confirm that he had received the email. He never called back so I assumed that the pictures came through. A week passed and I called Dan to get an update on the parts... He said he never got the email. I was furious but remained calm. I confirmed the email address with him and sent the pictures again, this time I added my secondary email to the recipient list to make sure it sent. I checked my email and sure enough it went through. I called to verify but got no answer so I left another message. This was 4 days ago and I still havent heard back from him.I ended up contacting Perception myself to see if they would help me directly and after less than 5 minutes on the phone the parts are in the mail. I guess I should have just went to them first!!!I recommend that if you are in the Erie area and are looking for any kind of sporting goods, that you avoid Dicks and instead go 1 minute up the road to their sister company Field and Stream where they offer superior service!!!
My husband sent me to the Erie store to purchase shotgun shells. I have never purchased ammunition before so I asked for help locating 20 gauge shells. The sales associate found them on the shelf and gave them to me. When I gave them to my husband the next day I was told I purchased 12 gauge. My husband went to the store to return them and the manager refused to take them back. He explained that even if the associate mistakenly gave me the wrong ones there was nothing he would be willing to do. My husband asked for $4.88 in the form of a gift card and he would take back the shells but the manager said that is not how things worked. My husband and father-in-law walked out of the store very upset. Because the manager wouldnt do anything the store lost out on sales of two pairs of Muck boots that day. I dont think the on duty manager understood how things worked. Very disappointing.
Ordered a product when there was a 40% off one product promotion going on. Got an email the next day stating that due to an error on Dicks part they didnt have the product to fulfill my order. I then contacted customer service to see if they could at least get me a 40% off one item coupon to make up for their error and so I could order something else being able to take advantage of the promotion. They refused. Poor customer service.
Seriously Disappointed in their softball selcetion for our area. Softball is quite big here and this store only had one pair of girls softball cleats to choose from. Then went to buy my older daughter a pair of ladies softball pants and all they have is baseball pants. The gentleman I asked about it said, well theyre pretty much the same thing. I said, actually no, a young lady is built differently than a young man and would like to wear something that actually fits them properly.
Staff up front very nice. The guy in the shoe department was the abosolute worst. He cared more about hitting on girls than measuring my sons foot so he had to go in the back 4 times to get the right size. If he wouldve taken the 30 seconds to measure my sons foot we all couldve went about our day. Instead i got attitude and so did the other customers that were waiting while Romeo chatted up some ladies. I hope he atleast got one of their numbers.
I recently purchased one dozen carbon arrows at Dicks and had them cut. I informed the staff that I wanted them cut to a certain length. When I got home, I found that the staff had cut them 1 inch short. A few days later, I attempted to return them and the front desk was extremely polite and helpful. In the archery section, the worker informed me that the tech who cuts the arrow was out, and he would leave a not for him to cut the arrows to length when he returns. Two days later, I returned to the store to find only 1/2 dozen arrows cut and the same staff working the store. The tech in the archery section told me that in the two days I was gone, he had learned how to cut the arrows and would finish cutting them for me. The staff at the front desk remembered me and was happy to help me complete my return. After an initial disappointment, it was very relieving to see how the staff is so willing to help and to continue learning. Well done.
I received an email that Dicks had items on sale for a limited time. Their notification said you could order on line or go to the store to get certain items. After checking for availability, I went to pick up the items which were supposed to be available and on sale. Only one of the items was available and not on sale. The store personnel told me to come back with a copy of the email. Instead I went to Wal-Mart and picked up the same items cheaper.
This is a used desktop computer. Worked great for me; I was just looking for an upgrade, so I decided to sell it. This includes the computer, and the power cord. Great for browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, listening to music, light gaming ect. On Fortnite you get an average of 20-30 fps on the lowest settings. The computer has few light scuffs that are barely noticable but they do not effect the computer at all. The computer does not have built in wifi so you will have to buy a wireless wifi adapter or just plug in a ethernet cable. This computer comes with windows 10 installed, and it has been factory reset. If you have any questions, please ask.
Customer service in the shoe dept was horrible!!! Not very attentive!! Stood around waiting for help 20 minutes. When I finally got some attention and asked to try on 2 different pairs of shoes, the clerk came out and sat the shoes down at least 10 ft away from me saying, here Lost out on a sale!!!
Hung out at the bike section waiting for someone to help with a large purchase. After watching three employees veer off after noticing me, I left to take my business elsewhere. Also employees dressed like they just came from the gym makes it hard to identify them as employees.

2022-04-12Only carries Innova golf discs, and the prices are not labelled properly on the discs, so you’ll be paying more than expected when you get to the register. Disc was labelled 17.99 on the sticker, was 21$ before tax when I actually paid.

2022-01-02Forgot to take the security tag off my new ski goggles & went back at 7:15 when online it said they closed at 9 & the doors were locked & everyone was staring & laughing without simply telling us they were closed. i just wanted the security tag off so i could use them the next day at the peak but now i can’t, thanks. maybe do your job in the first place & it wouldn’t be a problem.

2021-03-21Called twice today and received no customer service at all. The first time I called, it rang for over 3 minutes, someone picked up and immediately hung up without saying a word. I gave them the “benefit of the doubt “, just in case the phone some how hung up by accident. I gave it a couple minutes and called again. This time, a nice lady picked up after the phone rang for another 3 minutes. Turns out, the person who picked up was a CUSTOMER who informed me the phone has been ringing constantly all morning and employees are not paying any attention to the phones at all. They’re simply IGNORING the phones. She felt she had to pick up because she couldn’t stand the constant ringing anymore. I thanked her and appreciate her effort to do something about the situation. The least they could’ve done was answer quickly and tell me they’re either swamped or understaffed or something. Hanging up on a customer, ignoring communications, and ignoring calls to the point of CUSTOMERS having to intervene is pretty unacceptable.Add: I have been to this location a dozen times just to look, required service on a handful of times, and received good service on two of those occasions. Seems the consistency of service may be a significant concern.
