Nice new clean Mexican food spot in NE Philly we went to on a whim the other night I’ve been wanting to try since we saw it was opening. We were welcomed right away into a completely renovated restaurant (for those who remember the old Pizza Hut, you won’t even recognize it). The service was very nice and welcoming, even made some good suggestions; oh and you are welcomed right away with chips and salsa (you know that’s a good sign ;) ). My mom had the chicken quesadilla platter and she really isn’t big into Mexican food, but she is adventurous to try this and she enjoyed it. I had the Jefe Especial with a Chicken Quesadilla and a beef enchilada (I think) and it was really good. Only think I wish was there was more cheese inside the quesadilla but it was STUFFED with chicken with was nice. Oh and we got churros to go which were good, just wish there was more than 4 small churros for the price. They are working on getting their liquor license so when that happens I know I’ll be back to enjoy an ice cold margarita with my meal.
Love the decor of this place! Its so bright and vibrant and fun. They have these huge authentic Mexican Sombreros you can take pictures in. Only thing missing was some mariachi music!😆 The menu has a wide selection. They even has a vegetarian selection. My husband got tacos, I got the fajitas with rice and beans. I appreciated that the kids menu had chicken fingers and fries for picky eaters like my daughter! Lol the service was great, our waitress was kind and attentive. Overall we had an awesome experience and definitely plan on going back to try other items on the menu.(FRIED ICE CREAM!) And to get a picture in one of the Sombreros!😂
Totally surprised this restaurant is now opened.Used to be a Pizza Hut that was outdated and very dark lighting inside. Very very old bench and tables.I walked in to check it out and I was blown away the new owner has transformed the place. All dining furniture from tables with high dividers and benches were imported from Mexico 🇲🇽. Interior design and wall decor reflects true Latino dining experience.Food portions are reasonable for the price. Flavor is on point with savory tinkle. Yes, they have Horchata..They also offer Chips and salsa for free.Maria our serve was exceptional. We will definitely ask our staff to step outside of our office and support this great business.
First time trying the food here. Ordered online for pick up the first time which was quick and easy. You just cant pay through the website you pay in person which is very easy. Really loves the churros for that kick of sweetness! We also has the jumbo shrimp quesadilla and the Mexico special. Great food and the rice is perfect. Everything has great flavor. Definitely will sit in at the restaurant next time to give a better review on atmosphere. Overall there are kind staff, they answer questions and its easy to pick up and go.
I just ate from this place today and I will say it was very satisfying. The food is cooked to perfection, great tasting and very large portion sizes. The prices was cheap, very affordable and the overall environment was very clean and attractive. This place is easily one of the best restaurants in the Mayfair area, 5 stars for me.
We went for dinner on a Friday night. When we walked in, we were not greeted by any of the 3 staff members that I could see. Our soon to be server, walked past us 3 times before asking for our table count. We were made to feel like we were imposing and unwelcome. When we were finally seated, our server sat us and ran off without getting a drink or introducing herself. After a better part of 10 minutes, she returned and asked if we were ready to order with an attitude that screamed resentment. At this point we ordered and began snacking on the complimentary chips and salsa. As my family of 4, was almost done the meager basket of chips she had provided, she delivered the queso without any additional chips and disappeared without mention of our drinks. As we finished the chips, I watched her walk a pitcher of water out to refill a table, bus their table, and bring out to go boxes, before I could get her attention about our waters. She rudely told me to hold on from across the restaurant. Minutes later when she did not return with our waters, I asked the manager to help with our waters, and he replied that she was getting them. Another 5 minutes passed and we decided to get our drinks elsewhere. They should have seen that coming.Ive worked many service industry jobs. This is not how a successful restaurant is run.
Only reason for 2 stars is because the first time we went was pretty good. This time however, we were greeted rudely. Our server served us with a small amount of salsa, took our orders, then never brought our waters. When asked about the waters she held her hand up and said hold on (we already waiting 10 minutes at that point) then she proceeded to serve other people water, to go boxes and then disappeared for another 5 minutes. From that point, we asked the man at the counter for our waters and he rudely said that she would get it.We walked out due to her (an older woman). It was as if she didn’t like us the moment we walked in.My whole family is disappointed. We just moved to Philly and had such a good experience the first time, but this officially ruined it.It was intentional her attitude and service.
This is great Mexican food. We have been here three times now and will continue to go. We love everything about this place starting with the nachos and salsa sauce (spicy but delicious) and ending with fried ice cream. We had steak fajitas along with burritos. The steak was excellent and so were the burritos, which came covered inflated cheese. The refried beans
Great atmosphere very kind and knowledge servers. The place is renovated and feels very cozy and mexican. The culture is painted all over and its generally authentic in every way possible. But the food is to die for. The rice and refried beans are amazing and their steak or chicken quesadillas and delicious. Totally recommend it. Its also BYOB and family oriented. Definitely coming back and bringing more family members with me.
Its OK I just dont like the fact that the tip is taken automated without telling the customer. Tipping is very important .but not when they tell you how much the tips is going to be no if ans or buts. Like if u dont have the amount of tips be required then what. No good as customer service
New Mexican Restaurant where the old pizza hut once was (for my locals) very cool place interior decor is absolutely beautiful cool tables and artFood is pretty good over all we went on weds thinking it be kinda slow but it was packed the place is new so I guess they werent ready for the traffic only 2 staff members waiting tables so it was kinda slow but they were very friendly and helpful and accommodating
Way to go a good Mexican restaurant In the Northeast . We had a great dinner very filling. Highly recommend the Mexican fries. Steak fajitas was good Carne aside was also very good everyone was pleased with their dishes. We were there on Tuesday night place was not crowded at all. We also had fried ice cream for dessert mmmmm. I forgot to ask if they serve acholhol I saw some reviews saying it was byob but look like they had a bar. However we enjoyed out horchatas
I ate here for lunch and the tortilla chips and salsa are made fresh in house, needless to say I finished all the salsa given and had two baskets of chips. Lol My lunch entrees rice was perfectly, seasoned and cooked asking with my fish and fresh side salad with avocado. When it comes to Mexican rice its a treat when its not too salty or bland, it was just right. I loved the decor, of all the Mexican restaurants Ive ever eaten at, i would have to say El Aztecas decor inside is number 1. The restaurant was very clean and the staff was very friendly. I will make a trip again for dinner this week!
Decided to go here for dinner tonight, and walked up to doors plastered with signs demanding masking. I believe a business has a right to request this, and I also have a right to not do business with a business making that decision, and also warn others. We left and took our money elsewhere.
Had to be at least 6 years ago that we went there last but it was always so good and it seemed quite different a little more than just Mexican I mean they grow there seafood and veggies before they put it in there wraps and taco shells and such and everything was always just so fresh and delicious!🤗
The food here is so good 🤤 my brother and I got take out. He got the lunch special #3 and I got the lunch special burro de casa. I preferred mine just cause there was a lot of beef and green peppers in mine which I liked. AND the cheese they pour on top is sooooo good especially with the rice. The one my brother got is still good but it had ground beef instead which isn’t my style. Anyways I’m definitely coming here again 🤤
My family and I love this authentic mexican restaurant. The food is always on point. The servers are very friendly and speedy. We never have to wait long for our order to come out. The portions are very generous. I am so happy they moved out of center city to this new location. Now I dont have to struggle to find parking and can eat here more often. Chips and salsa are free.
My family has been ordering from here since they opened. The food is amazing! Weve been doing take out and the food is delicious, hot and delicious. I cant express just how much we love this place. They have vegetarian meals but the meats have been cooked to perfection, the rice is so good and the beans and guacamole are fabulous. Oh, and did I mention their fried ice cream? Just WOW! This is a neighborhood favorite and now that they have done available, Im planning on enjoying my meals there.
If you have not been here...you are missing out.I used to frequent this place when they were in center city. They have the best Mexican food HANDS DOWN! The service is always excellent. They are always very friendly. When I go there, I feel like family. Check them out if you havent. You will be glad you did. If you have already, Im sure you cant wait to return :-)
This was a great experience. Loved the food. Omg the staff was sooo friendly as well. The food was cooked fresh and was absolutely delicious. The rice and beans and steak was sooo good. The chips and bean and cheese dip was out of this world. The place was very clean and kept well. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Great experience and we will go back. Loved the fried ice cream. Cant wait to try their sopapillas.
This was unlike any other restaurant in Philly that I have had the pleasure of dining in. Other than the fast and fresh food and tremendous hospitality the staff had, the decor was very original and gave you a sense of home. The crab dip is by far my favorite item on their menu, only because it is nostalgic in the sense that Ive been eating theirs for as long as I can remember. The huevos rancheros were excellent with some lime and the rice and beans were cooked to perfection. The birria was also very tender and juicy, dripping off the ends of our hands. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this establishment. Keep it up!
Ordered pickup. Chicken quesadilla was superrr SALTY (only half of it was crispy, other half was soggy) and the steak fajitas were bland / underwhelming. The side tortillas were really fresh / good. The place looks cute inside. Shame the food wasnt a bit more flavorful - hopefully itll improve, as its nice to have some variety in the neighborhood.
This is one of the best restaurants that I ever been, good service, they welcome you at the entrance and specially LILLIAM (the waitress) very nice and communicated person. The food O lala the best. Come and try you will love it. Yes I will come back again and again.👍
The tostadas that I ordered were super soggy, Birria tacos are literally not what you think . It’s just meat in a tortilla with onion and cilantro. Also the quesadilla that I ordered had no cheese . I do not recommend if you are looking for good authentic Mexican food.
What used to be a Pizza Hut is now an El Azteca Mexican Restaurant. Very happy it is in Mayfair, so close by. Very clean, festive decór, friendly staff, reasonably priced and delicious food. Ive eaten at El Azteca in Mt. Laurel, NJ and liked that very much. After not being able to go out for so long, this is right on time.

2022-04-10Found this place while searching for a better Mexican spot with authentic taste. This place is IT! As soon as you walk in youre greeted by smells of amazing food being prepared and the beautiful art on the seats, tables and walls. We all left there satisfied taste wise and stuffed. We ordered Birria tacos and the birria platter, my husband had the jefe especial. This place is byob. I was a bit sad about that at first because I really wanted a margarita; however I did bring my own bottle and purchased a pitcher of the mix to add in. I would Highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking for good eats, thats affordable. They are Very family friendly which is a big plus for those of us with kids. Definitely plan to go back!

2021-09-11Ive been meaning to check this restaurant for the longest and I finally got there. The funny thing is, this restaurant is literally about 6 blocks from my home. As soon as we got there, we were welcomed and seated. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable. The food was great too. It was so good, I decided to order some takeout for my boys. I will definitely go back once they get their liquor license.

2022-04-17This place is a hidden gem. Its inside an old eat-in Pizza Hut. My wife and I shared the 2 burrito platter. She had the seafood combo and I had the birria tacos. Man oh man it was heaven on a plate.

2022-04-27Excellent!! My husband and I finally brought our own tequila and had awesome Margaritas with El Aztecas mixers. We also tried several different items based on others reviews. The Queso Cangrejo (cheesy crab dip) was out of this world; tasty with lots of crab and a nice spice. My husband now has a new favorite - - Mexican Fries!! They are really, really delicious. We also enjoyed Grilled Shrimp Tacos and Carnitas. The Carnitas are so tender and tasty.... always a favorite. For dessert..... another pitcher of Margaritas! 😁 The staff was spot on; attentive, friendly and informative!

2022-05-01I waited a long time for this restaurant to open. Was glad to find out it was as good as I expected. The food is excellent the portions are great and the price is great. I just wish they had alcohol there. Would love to have drinks with my dinners. If they had drinks I would love to have my friends get together and meet there for a night.

2021-07-17My sister and I came in for the first time this afternoon and had an AWESOME meal! The waitress bought out salsa and warm chips, we started out with the Queso Cangrejo, then our main courses were Fajitas Texanas and Platillo Jalisco both with steak and shrimp, and rice, refried beans, pico de Gallo, guacamole, peppers, onions , tomatoes and mushrooms with Jalisco plate . They also serve Jarritos soda from Mexico made with real sugar . Muchos gracias, todo estuvo delicioso !! They are waiting on the liquor license, it is BYOB for now. 🥰💗🤗
