Fine Wine & Good Spirits Premium Collection in other cities:
Ive seen 4 people walk into the window rather than the door. Not even drunk people. These were stone-cold sober people, each one. And each on a different occasion. Ive nearly done it myself. The door should be switched with the window to prevent this but Im giving the place 5 stars for the entertainment it provides because of the way it was constructed. Also I dont even drink that much. Im only even in there once every few months ago this stuff likely happens all day every day.Whomever built the entire place did a really bad job. They used plastic to cover the steps and the plastic caught on fire last year and theyve got another set of steps at the other end of the plaza that are being rebuilt because they were too hazardous. That whole plaza isnt that old. Its only been there for like 12 years and the steps are already unsafe so Im not surprised that they built the liquor store with the door on backwards causing completely sober people to run into it on a very regular basis.
Although they have great selection and prices . A man at the register was quite rude and disrespectful to me by not acknowledging my presence as I made my purchase . Even though I greeted him, thanked him and wished him a good day he didn’t respond to me at all. The shocking thing is that before I made my purchase he acknowledged and was friendly with the customer before. He even responded to another man in the store as he was leaving which was when I realized I was being ignored. I thought Pittsburg is a place where decent people are friendly, greeting each other and holding mutual respect for decent folk. I feel as if he was being prejudice towards me because I’m black male and my girlfriend is white btw this worker was black male not white. I know this is serious claim to make but I only make it based of the actions that I observed and how I was treated. I know nobody is obligated to talk or respond to you but if you’re working in business where you deal with people and if someone is buying products from your store the bare minimum of respect and acknowledgement when doing a transaction should be required. I know this as I was a cashier working retail in Soho Manhattan and know that apart of training at the POS is at the bare minimum greeting to the customer and acknowledging them as they talk to you . You may even be able to generate another purchase that wouldn’t have been made just by talking to your customers. I hope that your store could address this because treatment of good hardworking customers should be a matter of concern .
One of the nicer state stores, plenty of parking, and a really excellent selection. Cab Sav section is enormous. Was disappointed with the Syrahs last visit, but came across a couple carmeneres that even caught the checkout people by surprise. The staff is really helpful if youre looking for something specific. Do ask!
Wonderful selection of wines and others spirits. Some of the staff and all of the managers can definitely use some customer service training. I always love going to the clearance area of this store to try new and decently priced flavors, but it seriously never fails; the clearance price is never what rings up at the register, and this store, or at least the managers there, John in particular, REFUSE to give you the advertised sale price, literally even when they can clearly see themselves that the item is marked to be on sale.I have had this false advertising happen much too often at this location and as great as their selection is, I will not patron this location any longer. Now I go to the smaller store on Centre. Not as big, fancy or nice, but they have a very friendly and helpful staff and whats marked as a sale, always proves to be true when I go to pay for it.
Gigantic selection, always busy, and heres a little secret an employee told me a while back. You can see/download their monthly sale/discounted booze list on their website. Theres also a monthly coupon list you can download AND the monthly coupons are often for items that are ALSO on the monthly discounted list!
Always love this location, they have great selections, always make sure to ask if you need any help finding things, and will be super fast in the check out. (Even when its slammed with customers!)Definitely recommend for the wine selection, the tasting guests that come in, and in general all the deals/sales that are always going on!
Okay, so as Pittsburgh liquor stores go, this is a good one: large, well lighted, and with far more variety than you find in many PA state stores. The staff tries very hard to help, bless them. Plenty of parking in the lot. But it aint a real big city wine store like those in states with privately owned specialty stores. Just saying.
Embarrassingly bad selection of liquor if youre into making cocktails. How could a store of this size have such pathetic selection is beyond me. You have no choices other than bourbon and rye. Eg, one mediocre cachaca, one average mezcal, limited or missing basic mixers and bitters...I could go on. Depressing and overpriced. Go to another state if you need to buy ingredients to make cocktails. If youre a college student it has (barely) enough for a frat party but still overpriced.
This store recently expanded, and it is very nice with a good selection. The fact that we have wine and spirits stores is due to archaic state laws, but working within those guidelines this is a great establishment. They have slightly expanded hours compared to most wine and spirits stores as well.
This is one of the most unfriendly stores I have ever walked into. First 1/2 the stock is missing from the shelves so people wont steal them. There is a bathroom that customers can not use, And after purchasing $200 worth of merchandise they would not let me take the cart out to my car. It was raining cats and dogs. They offered to help me, so I grabbed one box and noticed that there were at least 5 big burly 20 something males working so I walked out into the storm with my box. As I put it into my car I noticed that they pushed my other box (11 bottles) off on an older female and sent her out into the rain, of course I grabbed the box and got even wetter to save her from having to be soaking wet in the AC. I then went in and asked for a manager and after I complained about their actions all he could reply was we all get paid the same and repeated it as a mantra when I asked him if hed push that off on his wife/mother/daughter or sister - I hope they privatize the liquor stores, then I could choose to shop somewhere with a more customer friendly atmosphere
This is a great wine (and liquor) store, with a huge selection and price range, and a very knowledgeable staff to help you find exactly what you want. Yes, it is still run by the PLCB, but this is a higher end store which caters to a diverse clientele (so everything from Manichewitz up to Petrus).
Wide selection of wine and spirits as the name suggests one of the larger ones in the city . I went hear for whiskey and they had a very large variety. Sometimes due to the placing of special items and sales it is hard to find certain sections such as Tequila but just ask any of their friendly customer service.
This state-run wine and spirits store has an excellent selection considering we have to be subjected two laws the date back from the Quakers. The staff move the line along very well during the busy time right before Thanksgiving. I will be visiting when it is less busy
Unfriendly, unhelpful staff, including managers. The cashier did not answer my question, then I grabbed a bottle of whiskey, I happened to come on the same register, same guy(couldnt catch his name). He saw me and put the Register Closed sign right after serving the person in front of me. Doesnt matter how good the store is, we are the customer. Thank you for your time for reading.
They have a good variety of liquors, but specially of international wine. The Chilean section could be a bit broader but still youll manage to find some stuff from the Santa Rita vinyard, and even some of their most prestigious labeles such as Carmín de Peumo. Theyre the same price as youd get them in Chile and in other countries so thats amazing!
If you are looking for good wine in the Pittsburgh area, this would be a very good option. Its right around the corner from another Wine and Spirits shop that is really an awful place to shop for wine, so dont let you experience with other stores discourage you from visiting this one.
It has a great selection of wine, especially the French variety like Louis Jadot. You could also buy some affordable table wine or simply for cooking below $10. They have also some hard liquor, Japanese sake and Choya Umeshu plum wine. No beer though. The place gets busy in the evenings.
While PA liquor license system which state-owned shops dominate market is harming the image of the U.S as country of freedom with socialistic or religious influence, still I understand PA Wine and Spirits are doing their best to provide wide range of wines and spirits including some Japanese sake.

2022-06-26Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Had multiple people ask me if I needed help, and when I did ask questions they all went above and beyond. Helped me locate a spirit that I havent been able to find for years. Even called another location to verify they had it in stock. The store itself has a great selection, especially considering the current supply chain issues. I cant wait to go back.

2022-06-17Great, knowledgeable service. I can usually get in and out within 10 mins. And any advice Ive been given has worked just the way they said it would, everything from what wine goes good with this fish meal to best quality dark rum in a price range. And they have curbside pick up!

2022-06-03I needed a couple cases for an event and someone helped me find exactly the wines I needed, under my budget. They even helped put the wine in my car! Excellent service and selection.

2019-02-03Wide range of wines, hard alcohols and liquors. Prices are a bit on the high side, but they have the largest variety available. I was able to find a rum from Trinidad called Zaya, so kudos to them for stocking that. Service could be a bit better, meaning it would be good to have someone well versed in mixology to give some advice on the different types of alcohols and how they pair with other beverages and food. Sometimes there are also free samples of new brands of drinks, which is always fun.
