This place is the best. It’s never crowded and the food is always delicious. You get seated very quickly and the food comes out equally as fast. The servers are very nice and professional. I always come here for the Katsu chicken it’s probably the best friend chicken I’ve ever had. It comes out with two large cutlets cooked perfectly tender and crunchy. The menu also has a pretty good selection of items to choose from. I would highly recommend eating here.
The food was great. I enjoyed every bite. But I found that prices are quite high (presumably due to the quality of the ingredients). There is a lot of space in the restaurant for both solo guests or groups. The service was decent. Nothing to be worried about if you want to come and eat here.
Me and my college friends from. CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY 🐺 got together and did a karaoke night here.We had so much fun. Some people sat together, ate and reminisce about old times. While other grabbed the Mike and goofed around. Either way it was a great time. The food is great and the staff was very professional.
I went to Fuji Mountain for a lunch by myself on a work day. The building is easy to walk by, so make sure you can an eye out for the small purple flag spouting Fuji on it. I ordered a salmon bento box, which came with Miso Soup. The food was good, except for the Sushi that was provided which had hard avocado in it. The salmon was cooked well and tasted great, similar for the pot stickers and salad. I recommend this place for moderately priced work lunch.
I came here by myself looking for a good dinner near my hotel. It definitely had cool vibes with all the wood paneling. I was seated in the very back.I wasn’t sure what to order, and assuming the sushi wouldn’t be that great given the prices and how far Philadelphia is from the ocean, I asked for a recommendation. The waitress recommended the chicken katsudon. It took a while for my food to come (20-30min) and it was not great. The chicken was chewy and the food in general did not taste that good.
The food was fine, but service was lacking and the biggest cockroach AND silverfish I have ever seen just walked out from the kitchen. Completely ignored by the staff despite several groups all yelping. Wont be going back. Those issues are indicative of larger problems.
I only ate here a few times before pandemic in person with my son and we both really liked it a lot, so when my son waxed about missing their food, we checked and luckily theyre still here and we just got sushi to go and its as good as it ever was. I look forward to eating in again, as the atmosphere was nice, the staff friendly, and the service fast but in no way rushed.
Ordered from them once and it was fine.Tonight I ordered, and they never delivered. The dasher never answered my calls or texts either. It was never an attempt to get out of any car and put my food on the porch, like I instructed. If it was too late, they should’ve never took the order. 🙄🙄🙄 Or if she was too afraid to get out of the car, they should’ve sent someone else.
Flying into PHL I had sushi lunch with friends from NJ. We got there when they opened. We all ordered Course A, which includes miso soup, a delicious ginger salad, some sushi and sashimi, and our choice of a specialty roll. All of that was finished with vanilla, red bean, or green tea ice cream. I recommend the Passion Roll, which has real blue crab 🦀 in it. We also ordered crispy eel hand rolls and they were so nice and crunchy. You wont be disappointed.
Good service, horrible food. Im sorry but anyone that likes this place has no idea what good Japanese food really is. We had the passion roll , a shrimp tempura roll with mango and crab meat. It was a $20! roll that tasted like it should have been $5 on a lunch menu. The shrimp tempura was cold for one. It was not good at all. Then we had gyudon, which is marinated beef over rice. Go to any Japanese owned restaurant anywhere (which this place clearly is not) and this dish would be a slam dunk. Its so easy to not mess up and normally so delicious it blows your mind. This places gyudon was just bland and gross. The Hamachi collar ($18 app) was pretty good but I could tell it was deep fried, rather than grill fried (as it normally is and should be), which seems like cheating to me. It was also brought out at the end of our meal, when it should have been first (as its an appetizer). Nothing we had was good even though it was quite expensive. Overall the dining experience was by far the worse one we had in our Phili trip. My family and I were very disappointed.
Went here over the winter for a birthday celebration and booked a private karaoke room. It was alot of fun! The sushi and apps we all had were good, and having a private bathroom was an absolute plus. It was a bit pricey and figuring out the karaoke machine/picking songs took a little getting used to. Parking available a quick walk away. Friendly staff, and good cocktails. I would give 4.5 stars if i could, so overall, a great experience for the 15-ish of us who came!
Completely disappointed could not even finish my meal. Ordered the sushi deluxe the fish quality was sub par and chewey not impressed The fancy rolls could be alright but not into the Americanized 🍣. Salad was good tho the ginger dressing was good. But dont think Ill ever be back. Hard to find good sushi these days
AMAZING place! The employees are kind, helpful, and patient, especially with special requests or when we needed further clarification of menu items or ingredients. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere was casual, with privacy dividers between the booth areas. Since it was a Friday, there was karaoke going on, but it didnt impede with the atmosphere at all. Oh, and a huge bonus for me is that it was open until 2 am! We will definitely be returning whenever we are in the Philly area - triple A+ for Fuji Mountain!
Weve been on an udon soup kick, so when I saw that Fuji Mountain offered a variety of options we were all in. I tried the tempura udon - wonderfully flavored, with the classic umami twist. And I also appreciated that the tempura wasnt only shrimp, they had a selection of shrimp, sweet potato and broccoli. I also tried the spicy beef gyoza, yum!!
This place has become one of my favorite places to go to. I feel like taking into consideration the location and the quality of food, they really do give you a lot for a very decent price. The bento boxes are my favorite. The atmosphere and the interior design of the place is wonderful. They also almost always play some fire tunes in the place which I appreciate a lot.
Hands down on my favorite sushi places. I’ve been here over 50 times over the past 10 years and they are consistent. The fish is always fresh with great speedy service. The prices are really great considering they actually give you decent amount of protein. We’ve also rented one of the karaoke private lounge and it was totally worth it. They will essentially require the tab to be a certain amount which was too bad for a group of 20. I display get the following: green tea, miso or seafood miso, spicy scallion, yellowtail and scallion and uni. That’s usually less then $30. I’ve been there for lunch as well and the specials and bento boxes are really good. They offer pick up as well which I get pretty often since I can trust the quality. If dinning solo I squally sit at the sushi bar downstairs, the upstairs booth are great for intimate dates. The most amazing thing is they serve high quality sushi until 1AM EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Chill and easygoing atmosphere. Food was great, I ordered the teriyaki steak and it was cooked perfectly! The restaurant week menu is awesome and a great deal! I would love to order that again when I come back and visit! Will tell all my friends from Colorado this place!
An unfortunate group experience. We had a group rental for two hours. If our group was supposed to make it to $500 of drinks and food, the wait staff was not prepared to operate with any sense of urgency.Im not a chemist but the drinks didnt really carry the punch they probably should have. Suffice to say, I walked out having drank a considerable bit but felt exactly no different.I give it two stars because the restaurant clearly has great food but the drinks and service ruined the experience. One other item. My wife who is allergic to shell fish had a pretty significant reaction. I cant tell if it was a cross contamination in the kitchen or in the dining area but that put the nail in the coffin. I wont be taking groups here again.
If you want great fresh Sashimi, Nigiri, and flavorful Rolls, this is a great place to go. The sever was attentive, our mixed drinks were tasty, and the portions were awesome. The atmosphere at the bar was good, and it seemed like this place could hold a larger party if needed.Something that is worth mentioning and pointing out is how clean the restrooms were during our visit.
Went here for philadelphia restaurant week and it was amazing!pros:-fish was very fresh! i would take a bite and it would melt in my mouth o: food also came out pretty quickly which was great-i thought I would be hungry after this but it is a lot of food! since its many courses, it was quite filling-i LOVED the chefs choice dish! it was an arrangement of sashimi, sushi, and a hand roll. I think it was a good choice for me because I could taste different types of fish, and I couldnt choose between the sashimi or sushi meal so this was a great in between!cons: not much to complain about, pretty happy about my experience!
Love it,the mushrooms tasted like it came out of a freeze dried cardboard box; but the Atmosphere was unbeatable boasting 3 floors including a third floor karaoke lounge. Decided on the steamed beef dumplings and the vegetable udon. Was absolutely delicious, and the bar wasnt had either ;)
Fuji Mountain is a great spot for takeout, dining in solo (pre-COVID), dining in for groups (pre-COVID + current), and, of course, Karaoke. The food is great and the prices are right. Lunch specials at the sushi bar during the week were always a WFH treat before indoor dining was shut down.Ive hosted a few Karaoke parties on the 3/4 floor and everyone has had an incredible time, every time.
Fuji Mountain is absolutely delicious. They use the freshest fish and seafood in their sushi and sashimi. Their King Crab California roll is out of this world. I had the cream cheese ice cream for dessert and it was indescribably delicious. The iced green tea is homemade from scratch. My server was also excellent and knew the menu well and was very informative.
Oh man we had a great experience here. The service was very professional and personable. The waiter that served my table gave us great information about the food we were eating. The food was great portions were right on. Price was reasonably set. Over all Stellar performance!
I got the King Crab California Roll and it had fairly large pieces of CRAB SHELLS in it. One inch to an inch and a half, multiple pieces! That is pure laziness to not pay attention to what you are putting into your food.I have tasted better sushi than this place. Was very disappointed especially because of all these amazing reviews on here.100% never going back. My plate was unacceptable.
I went here on a date last night. While the restaurants atmosphere and staff were excellent, for around $25 per person I wasnt super pleased with the food. I had the yuzu chicken and my date had the teriyaki, and neither of us were necessarily impressed with the flavors of the food. Mine was on the dry side actually, though not like it had been sitting under a heat lamp or in a warming drawer, as our meals were brought out almost instantly after they took our salad and appetizer plates away! unfortunately I cant speak to the quality of the sushi, though I cant help but feel we would have been more impressed with the restaurant had we stuck to sushi!
Do not eat here if you have any type of allergies or aversions. I asked the server specifically what could be prepared vegan and we ordered a sushi roll that was listed as vegan on the menu among other vegetable rolls. We noticed at the very end of our meal that there was a substance that looked like fish eggs on the sushi roll that listed it was vegan. She confirmed we just ate fish eggs. Hugely irresponsible.
Was expecting something better after reading the reviews. Asked for Sauvignon Blanc..... They were all out. Asked for black bean mochi for dessert ... They were all out. Our reservations were at 630 pm and it was not busy. The sushi was average. Service was fine but waitress wasnt particularly happy. Likely will not go back.
The menu is varied but the food is underwhelming and overpriced. We wanted to try it out for restaurant week but at 3pm they only offered the more expensive dinner menu (despite no notice on the website and dinner time starting at 5pm and even after we left a note in our OpenTable reservation about it). The appetizers were not bad but Chinatown-standard. The kinoko soup was probably the only salvageable. My roll was just OK and my girlfriend complained that a piece in her premium sashimi was still frozen (see pictures). The restaurant looks dated and could use some dusting. The service was OK but slow given the place was almost empty.
Fuji Mountain is a well known quantity in terms of Philadelphia sushi offerings. The sushi chefs here are top notch, consistently providing masterful preparation and stunning presentation. Sake here is also reasonable for those interested. I tend to come here with business associates in a group of eight or so, and we have always had an incredibly positive experience. I would highly recommend Fuji Mountain when looking for a place to bring a group from out of town -- or if you are just looking for a nice quiet place for two, you cant go wrong.
On Philly Restaurant Week website, they posted their lunch menu without mentioning any restrictions. But when I got their, they told me they only offer dinner menu during weekend (which costs $15 more). Their ads outside the door is still their during the weekend says lunch for $20!
My girlfriend and I decided to go here while visiting Philadelphia because of the good reviews. She found large chunks of crab shell in her crab roll. each of the pieces were about an inch and a half long and three quarters of an inch wide. There is no excuse for that. We each ate about half of our meal and decided to leave, she left the chunks of crab shell in the middle of her plate to hopefully make it obvious. All three of my rolls tasted sour and slimy like the meat was old.
Very good food !!! I’m a regular there but the service tonight was awfully !!! Literally called 17 Times to order for pick up ( I wish I could attach a screenshot of call history ) nobody answers so I decided to walk 20 min because it happened before and just order at the restaurant... I was calling around 12:40 and closing on google says 2 am . I arrive at the restaurant around 12:58 and I walk in and call on the phone at the same time (the Restaurant ) ... the employee is cleaning the kitchen area and ignoring the phone calls (including the other staff) so I walk up to order from a server ... she walks up and tells me that the kitchen is closed since 1 am .... if you guys don’t serve at some time or don’t pick up the phone I would adjust the times on google!!!
The Karaoke rooms here are absolutely fantastic, being able to hold 20 people comfortably and offering a wide variety of songs. They can bring you sake bottles or warm sake in kettles along with beer to do sake bombs as you do your karaoke. The place is open till 2 am and is absolutely worth your money even though it is a little pricey.
My friend and I arrived at Fuji Mountain for an early dinner around 5 pm. The dim-lighted restaurant had a quiet and intimate atmosphere, with many booths and two-person tables. After we were given wet towels (which I appreciated) and iced water by the kimono-clad server, we dove into the menu. The extensive menu had many options to choose from, with lists of hot and cold appetizers, kitchen entrees, noodles, sushi, and donburi (rice with cooked meat, fish, or vegetables on top). My copycat companion and I ordered pork katsudon ($14), donburi with fried cutlets, which was served with salad and miso soup. The restaurant was generous with the soup, served in a regular rice-bowl-sized bowl, as most complimentary miso soup comes in cups or small bowls in other Japanese restaurants. It was particularly welcome, as we had been walking around the cold windy streets. It was slightly milder than most other miso soup I had tasted; the miso flavour was not as strong, but it was not in any way bland. It had a sweet aftertaste, and was the perfect companion to the salad. The salad was in a similar-sized bowl, with mixed greens, lettuce, three slices of cucumber, and thinly sliced carrots, topped with ginger carrot sauce with a tinge of miso flavour. The ginger sauce was excellent and was just the right amount. Soon after we finished the crisp all-vegetable salad, the server brought out the katsudon. It had steaming rice topped with strips of lightly fried pork, softly-cooked egg, thin shreds of seaweed, and three small slices of sweet pickled radish. The onion, the pork, and the moist white rice left a bit of sweetness in my mouth, and the radish accented that. I liked the mix of sweet, tangy and crunchy radish with the rice and meat, but my friend said it would have been better if it came as a side. The price range for a dinner dish is $10 to $27. I left the restaurant feeling satisfied, and promised myself that I would try the sushi next time and take advantage of the Karaoke they have on their 3rd and 4th floors (try the bar if you are 21 or up). The one tiny complaint I have about Fuji Mountain is their chopsticks. Their edges were simply too sharp for a comfortable grip.--Emily Yoon
Stopped here after a show one night and had some fantastic apps.Came back a few weeks later and brought our appetites--fantastic sushi and sashimi. Unagi to die for. Two apps to share and a Maki for two was more than enough for the two of us. Try and save room for dessert! Two floors in the restaurant. Late night dining usually happens on the upper floor.

2022-04-08We made a reservation for two but didn’t need it on a Wednesday, the restaurant was nearly empty. The staff was very kind and attentive (without being overbearing). We ordered the Wasabi Shumai (steamed) and Beef Gyoza (fried) to start. (The wasabi was in the shumai wrapper and whoa whoa did it burn your nose. The gyoza was as expected). For entrees, we got the Stone Pot Beef Bibimbap (great, but the pot was too hot so too much of the rice was charred to the point you couldn’t eat it. Would have preferred sliced beef, but the ground beef still has a great flavor), the Angry Tuna roll (so much fish/meat, it was amazing and so flavorful), and a Eel/Cucumber/Avocado hand roll (the eel was a little fishy but overall ok).Overall, nice experience and will be back!

2022-05-21Ended up here by accident after spending hours in the Mutter museum on a rainy Saturday and it was so good. Lunch was a quiet time. Cozy booth with all kinds of dark wood paneling. We got a sashimi appetizer, a hurricane roll, and ex-girlfriend roll, and the house hot sake. Everything was just right. I wouldnt be disappointed if I had the exact same experience next time I go there. P. S. Recommend sharing the hot sake with someone, I ended up drinking the whole thing and was rolling 😁

2022-01-24Mt. Fuji is always a great sushi restaurant. You can never go wrong and they even have karaoke - I didnt know that!We ordered a sake tequila fruit punch - its a spicy margarita. For appetizers we ordered fuji wings (soy sauce), sashimi appetizer which was salmon, tuna and yellowtail. Our choice of rolls was spicy salmon crunch, spicy tuna and spider roll.Food and ambiance was great. Nice and relaxing 😌

2022-01-08Consistently good sushi. We eat here every month. Sushi dishes are really good. Fish is fresh. I never had bad experience here. Also, if you like uni, this is the only place in town to get good quality uni. I have paid much more in fancier restaurants for much worse quality. We always have to get multiple orders when we come here. They have other cooked dishes as well (Korean food). But I am usually too full to try. Maybe next time. They also have my fav dessert, which is fried icecream. Yummmmmm!

2022-05-03Went there over 10 years ago with a friend and revisited recently. The rolls were still as good as they were from the time I visited back in the day.Only issue is the staff did not greet me during my entry and I was confused as to where to find/pick up my personal order. With parking as horrible as it is, it was taking away time trying to find help.Lastly, they only had door dash orders right in front (open to the public to search) and when I finally got a person to help me, who was one of the many sous chefs who has ignored me during my entry and initial request for help, they were telling me to find it in the door dash table but mine was to go/online.When I finally got assistance, a staff member told he they didnt have the order then gave it to me. It was too much trouble just to get online food (in the rain, might I add).Figure out a better streamline service so that its patrons can have a better experience. The food is good, but a bad experience for good food can close a business. Especially with the many options of food services in the area

2021-06-06Service was kinda slow (maybe they were short-staffed?), but they accommodated my request to move to a booth. The decor is cozy. Atmosphere is casual. The food was excellent. I would recommend.

2022-02-28Absolutely terrible experience. Waited twenty minutes before our waitress came over and she only came over because we had waved her down. Then waited 35 minutes for our sushi, which came out freezing cold as if it had been sitting for a long time in the back. There was also someone at the front stand who tried to approach to ask about the status of our order and he rudely shoo-ed us.Definitely never coming back.
