Funcks Restaurant in other cities:
To be quite honest for this restaurants location, I am sure the locals would give it five stars... but coming from the city (Philadelphia to be exact) Funk’s gave exactly what I expected it to give and everything it wasn’t supposed to gave. For those of you who know what this saying means.. then you know. For those of you who do not here’s what it means in layman’s terms... I was expecting small town flair, but received last minute bbq disappointment.I ordered bang bang shrimp (I think that’s the correct name for the appetizer), they were delicious, but the sauce was most definitely one from the ginger people collection (look it up if you do not know what company I am referring too).. side bar that is my favorite sauce. The French fries were on the presuppose of underwhelming but delivered a salt bae of mildly good (then again I was in a French fry mood that particular day)... but what was the most disappointing The Cheese burger I ordered. For starters, the bun was bigger and wider than the actual burger itself, the sauce options of mayonnaise or ketchup only took 25% of my hunger away and the Togo containers should have been eco friendly. For dessert i ordered the apple crumble with vanilla ice cream.... and even that mediocre at best. What I can say is Funk’s is a cute place that serves I learned how to cook five years ago food at 20 minutes outside of the city dinning prices. I shall not eat from there again.
Excellent food, and we really liked our server. He was friendly and attentive, and made just the right selections when one person in our group ordered a flight of beer samples and said, Surprise me!No problem with my food allergy, and no fuss. Wed readily come back to this one. Thank you for a great lunch stop today!
Was seated very quickly, menu items all sounded delious. Wait time till our food arrived was a little longer than expected, then after getting the food and realizing the waitress messed the order up, we had to wait and wait until she came back around, to ask her if theyd please correct it. Overall the food was delicious, an honest mistake by the waitress, atmosphere was very inviting... just not a fast food kind of place
Front staff had a maskless man angrily taking people to their tables. Wait staff was so under siege while the front end did nothing. Not sure how a dinner for a family for three was $50 before tip during happy hour. When we tried to pay up front, I waited 10 to 15 minutes to be told by maskless dude to go back to my table to pay. Waited another ten minutes while the family behind me did the same thing and were told by the same guy to sit back down. Finally waitress came by and took payment. Really thought about dashing and dining but knew the waitress would get blamed not the front end. If you want to get COVID19 and bad service with overpriced food with a touch of arrogant jerk, this is our place. Should avoid like the plague house it it.
This restaurant wasnt very clean, despite the obvious renovations. The atmosphere seemed to be torn between mountain cabin and chic industrial. It didnt make sense. The staff was slow to respond to customer needs, even when a customer threw up in the dining area! No apologies were offered for the unpleasant experience. It also took too long to settle our bill because no one was available at the register. The food was unremarkable and plain. There werent very many options for breakfast. The best thing was the story shown for tube many service men who were there from the nearby army base.
This was our first time here and we both enjoyed the food and the place. People were friendly and our server, Dani, was attentive and not overbearing. The food was quite tasty and seemed geared toward home style favorites. We both had sandwiches and the portions were plentiful. I’d definitely recommend checking them out if you’re in the area.
Decent food, the turkey was tasty the gravy decent. Broccoli a bit mushy with water mixing with the turkey, but still good and will go back again. Server did the best she could but had more tables than hands right as we finished so getting check was delayed by probably 10 minutes more than needed.
Food was very good. Only complaint (and we had a larger party so that could be part of the issue) was that the food came out too sporadically. 2 members of our party received everything they ordered, 10 minutes later, I received my side salad, 15 minutes later, I received my main meal (still no one else other than the previous 2 had received anything at this point), 5 minutes later 2 others received their sides and meals, 5 minutes after that 2 more, etc. This happened 3 or 4 times until everyone received everything. By then, half of us were done eating and the other half were only just receiving their food. Meanwhile, other people that came in long after we did had been served, eaten, and left already. it was just strange. From start to finish we were there about 2 hours. We then handed the waitress a tip, which she took, just to find out that they had already charged a 20% gratuity onto the bill. So dont tip the waitresses, they charge you the tip on the bill. All in all, I wouldnt go there if you have more than 6 in your party.
Great service. This has been one of my favorite places for the last two years, however, something has changed lately. My in-laws warned us that they had gotten sick after eating here recently. They both had salads, so we chalked it up to a bad batch of lettuce or something, and we went. All together we got a burger, a cheese steak, a kids Mac n cheese and a kids grilled cheese... We all got sick. Like, viciously sick all night. So, something up.
Stopped here while driving down to Florida. Restaurant and restrooms were nice and clean. Wait staff did a great job. Food was outstanding.Highly suggest the all you can eat fried chicken for 9.99 on Wednesdays!Cherry Pie was also outstanding!Shares a parking lot with a gas station. So a great place to fill up your car and stomach!
Had the Wednesday night special, all you can eat fried chicken! Food was hot, moist, tender, and delicious! Server was very pleasant, and timely. We took home a dessert, choc cake with peanut butter butter cream, the slice we got couldve fed a family of 4! Great time, great food
Awesome restuarant. Great food with a diverse menu. Portion sizes are insane be prepared to take some home with you. I usually dont do desert, but is a must at this place. Staff are courteous and provide prompt service. If you find yourself at this location be sure to visit the National Cemetary next door, the Vietnam Memorial is one of the most beautiful I have seen.
We were looking for a change of pace from fast food while driving on the I-81, just north of Harrisburg and saw the signs to Funcks which is about 1 mile off the interstate. The atmosphere was pleasant and homey. We ordered a variety of meals, with mixed results. The Friday all-you-can-eat Fish Fry was great - the fish was delicious and the fries were toasty. We had a couple of different salads - buffalo chicken was a hit, Cesar salad was not.
Terrible service. We went there at a slow time (more open tables than not), but had to wait a good 15 minutes to be seated. I asked twice if we could just seat ourselves, as most of the restaurant was empty, and we had our 1 year old with us. I was told we had to wait to be seated. The waitress was very quick and rushed, even though she only had one other table. My order was messed up, and cold. The bathroom was dirty, too. I do not recommend this place at all.
I stopped in for a late lunch; and, the place was moderately populated by other customers. Having my choice of seating, I sat down at the counter where I was promptly greeted and asked about my beverage of choice. With my glass of water in hand, I browsed the menu, and ordered the buffalo blue sandwich with fries. The waitress made pleasant small talk with me while my order. The meal was served within ten minutes. I was surprised to see a bagette style roll, slightly toasted, with shredded chicken. As it turns out, the shredded chicken does a great job of evenly distributing the perfectly blended buffalo sauce. Topped with blue cheese dressing, served on the side, this was a chicken masterpiece. The fries were served golden brown, crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. I almost ordered a second helping, but didnt, only because I was full.
Waited about ten minutes before anyone even acknowledged us, waitress was not friendly and didnt even smile, the food was good and did come out fairly fast but that was the extent of the good. Waitress never checked on us until it was time to give us the check, then come back from the bathroom and another waitress had taken my chair! And there were 2 kids sitting at the table so obviously they knew someone else had to be sitting in that chair. Waited another 5-10 minutes to pay the bill because they had no one to check people out. One girl was responsible for hosting, checkout, and it looked like busing tables. They really need a separate hostess. The waiting area was packed and too full because there was no one to seat people or check people out. It was a mess. Dont think well be back. No one was friendly, no one smiled, and it was not a welcoming place at all.
Expensive food and not very good service. the place is one of the few that serves food on base and so therefore the prices seem to be hiked to reflect that. the gas station is open 24/7 which is useful, but again highway prices from a local store. if you travel a little further there is a loves truck stop down the way where many items sold at funcks are available for cheaper.
Pretty good stop on the road when there isnt much else around. I was worried when I realized it was at a mini mart, but was pleasantly surprised - the place was very clean, the staff friendly, and decent food. There was a section of the restaurant no one was seated in which was perfect for my toddler to run out some energy before hitting the road again. My other kids enjoyed the free ice cream w kids meal.
This was a favorite of my husbands. Today I had the French onion soup which was good but needed seasoning and the chicken quesadilla which was huge and excellent for the price. Wish I had gotten a slice of pie because they had a great selection. Attentive service and a lovely, clean place to take a break and rest.
My husband and I were on a road trip from New Jersey. We followed signs to Funcks, which was just off the highway. The restaurant was pleasantly furnished. Sabrina, our server, was quick, friendly, and competent. I was not thrilled with my tomato soup topped with a slice of bread and grilled cheese. The was hot, but had an unpleasant sweetness. My Caesar salad had nice fresh Romaine, but the dressing was quite in-Caesar-ish. My husband was a little happier with a ham, melted cheese and bacon sandwich. He definitely liked the Texas petal sauce and Cajun fries. The price was moderate for us. If we were in the neighborhood, we might try it again.
Stopped in to avoid driving in the rain and didnt expect much. My husband and son ordered the philly cheese steak, chicken tenders and fries for my toddler and grilled chicken and veggies for me. Everything was delicious! My daughter actually ate 2 tenders. For a picky eater, thats a lot.
Im a frequent patron at Funcks. They have the best 1/2 pound Angus burgers in the area. The staff is friendly and attentive. And the prices are reasonable. If you like white cake with coconut icing, do what I do. Get a piece to take home. Ive always been too full to eat it there.
I was surprised to see the restaurant attached to a gas station at first, but the inside is nice. The food was decent for the price. Our burgers were definitely frozen patties cooked to order, not fresh made patties. Service was okay, there was one hostess who looked confused and two servers at 6pm on a Monday. The restaurant was not too busy even though the servers used being busy as an excuse. One server dropped a dish of ranch dressing on the floor and it sat there for 30 minutes before anyone tried to clean it up (it was in plain view for customers to see). The same server also was rude to the hostess and other server and made a salad for another customer using her bare hands to stack the lettuce onto the plate and cherry tomatoes from a container. No, she did not wash them from what I could see before or after doing this. My server was a bit slow, but pleasant. When paying I asked to speak to a manager and was told that there wasnt one there currently there but shed get me someone to speak to. The server I was going to complain about was who came to speak with me. Again the excuse of were busy was given and clear insincere apologies. As someone from out of town, I cant say that I would go back.
How difficult is it to get fresh toast with a breakfast... Everytime cold toast, ordered a hash brown got home fries, cup of coffee was only filled 3/4 of the way.The kitchen is about all of 15 feet away...Recommend to everyone DO NOT GO TO FUNKS RESTAURANT, Piss poor service and quality of food ... waitresses would rather run there mouths playing rumor mill than do there jobs!
Good place to have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Really good homemade food. When you see the name you think its odd. Its a family name that has been in business since 1956. Its next door to a National Cemetery called Indiantown Gap. A lot of families come after a short Military service. I saw locals, out of towners. I ordered a hamburger and it was good. Seved with coleslaw and fries. Its a good place to meet a friend for lunch. Service was friendly and quick. Portions were generous.
The refills for our drinks took a long time. Everyone had their main meal eating while i waited an extra 10 min to get mine. The cesar salad was that overfilled, everytime i tried to toss it, itd overspill onto the table. The food portions were massive which was nice. Taste of food was alright.
Poor customer service. When we entered the restaurant there was a sign Wait to be seated. As we waited in the nearly empty place we watched several wait staff standing around just talking to the couple of customers there. Even as one went to clean tables passing us she didnt even bother to say anyone will be right with you or to even get a hostess, which appeared to not exist, or even please seat yourself. We didnt even bother to wait after such an inconsiderate experience.
Excellent food and prices the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cake is to die for :-) Occasionally we buy a whole cake and share it with family, friends, and neighbors. Its great with a cold Spaten Optimator, which is a dark Bavarian draft, my better half will tell you its a spectacular combination enjoy everyone...
Just left the place and will never go back. I went off the reviews and expected much more. Ordered onion soup as an app, chicken because the reviews state its the best. Salad came out, unordered a ceaser, got chopped and I mean chopped green leaf lettuce and ceaser dressing splashed on top. Wasnt good but I figured Id let it slide. About 3 minutes after the salad I got the chicken. Still 3/4 of my salad left I told the waitress I ordered an onion soup app, she giggled and said yeah Im waiting on it. 3 minutes later I get the soup so I have 3/4 of a salad, a plate of chicken getting cold and soup in front of me. Waitress asks if I want her to put the chicken in the window after I stated my unhappiness of all this food coming out the way it did. Aside from that, the soup tasted like reconstituted onions and the only flavor was the handful of salad croutons tossed in the soup. Onions were minced or close to. Worst french onion soup ever, didnt Finnish it obviously, ate the cheese. Chicken was just ok, looks like a flour dredge, wasnt even that flavorful, didnt Finnish that either. Got the check, went up to pay and was asked how everything was, I told them not very good and explained. Obviously didnt bother them because I got an oh Im sorry as he slid my credit card. Paid $21.52 for quite possibly THE WORST meal Ive ever had. Aside from the food being maybe a step above horrible, the waitress was untrained and clueless. Ive worked in restaurants, as an executive chef, had my food published in gourmet magazine and I can tell you if this was my staff, I would start from scratch. Retrain the kitchen, and get the wait staff some training so they know whats right and whats not because they havent a clue. This is unfortunate, I had much higher expectations. I would avoid eating here for dinner, maybe breakfast is better.
Let me start by saying we decided to go to here after we had missed the exit and back tracked 15 mins because we heard good things. It wasnt worth it. The chocolate chip pancakes were good, and the home fries, eggs, bacon were perfectly fine. The scrapple was pasty and bland. Their cream chipped beef arrived congealed smothering a few pieces of soggy toast. The taste was as bland as it was jello like. The prices were high. I paid $6 for that Signature Recipe Cream Chipped Beef mess. It did not come with a side so I ordered home fries. $4 for a small plate of potatoes!! Service was okay. We kept our coats, scarves, and hats on because it was very chilly ( for January )inside the restuarant.
The worst Fried Chicken in my life it looked and tasted like it was three or four days old and just reheated numerous times in the oven totally disgusting, broccoli was cold. I wish I had read the reviews before coming here. Yeah thats really strange it wasnt busy and they just run around rushing like your a problem to be there. Go Anywhere But Here
DO NOT PATRONISE !!!This convenience store restaurant is located just outside a military training post. They have the prices increased because of the captive military audience. The food is medicore at best. The people make the place. Friendly and kind staff are the only reason they get any stars. Its a shame they price gouge our military personnel. Dont even offer them a discount...DO NOT PATRONISE
This was one of the worst experiences I have had in quite some time. First, it took forever to get seated. There were plenty of open spots but we had to wait? Then it took the waitress forever to come and give us drinks. When she finally came, my friend attempted to order a beer and the waitress rudely said no. After we laughed in her face for trying to deny us, THEN she asked to see our IDs. We are all in our mid 20s and she acted like we were some high schoolers trying to get away with getting alcohol. She treated us really rude and the whole time acted like we were trying to fake it. NEVER going back there again! Food was cold, overpriced and really unimpressive.
We always eat at Funcks - we have since our 1st visit to Indiantown Gap national cemetery after burying my father in law- it was the perfect place for the family to gather after - since that time weve been back and always stop in- our server was so sweet I wish remembered her name - good was good and arrived quickly - thank you so much to everyone at Funcks for hosting families from all over and serving us all with such care - its something we will always remember.
This guy is a slimeball. The price of things go up during the summer months. Yes it is a business but he knows that is the only place that is within walking distance for the soldiers during their annual training. In short he takes advantage of the soldiers because of their limitation. Please know that this is a fact and watch and see that is true. I have lived there forb10 years. Please dont patronize this was.
Funcks is located just off Fort Indiantown Gap. During training season...a LARGE part of their revenue comes from soldiers. They being the only eatery/convenience store in close proximatey to the baze, seem like they take advantage of soldiers with high prices. Its pretty sad when I can buy a breakfast sandwich in a Philadelphia convenience store with 8 percent sales tax than I can in rural PA. They DO make good breakfast, and it seems reasonably priced.....but the mini mart could be a bit more customre friendly.

2022-06-26I had been to the other Funcks in Leola a few times and always had an excellent experience. This Funcks is no different.Delicious food, good beer selection, great unintrusive service. This place is only a minute or two off the highway. Definitely worth your while.

2019-06-04Was visiting from out of state and wanted to have some breakfast on our last day there so we tried Funcks Restaurant. The orange juice was very delicious like it was freshly squeezed! The staff was very welcoming and respectful. The food was okay, nothing to die for. There was 6 of us and we all said the same thing. It could have also been fixed to look a bit more presentable. I guess we are used to the taste of our own local diner back home, because all the other locals seem to really love Funcks. Pricing is good and the restaurant was very clean. If youre in town and need somewhere to grab some breakfast then I recommend here. If youre looking for an IHOP then this may not be the place for you. Plenty of parking.

2019-09-21I stopped by here with a co-worker who had suggested this restaurant location. when we walk through the doors we were graded by the hostess and seated immediately. The server came over and got our drink orders and promptly brought them back to the table. We placed our order after a few minutes of looking at the menu. Our food arrived hot and appear to be freshly made subsequent to our order. The server did what she needed to do to get our drinks and food to the table initially and throughout our time at the restaurant.

2021-06-23Great food served quickly. Lots of beers on tap. We happened in on bingo night and had a great time with our kids playing as well. Very close to Hersheypark but it was not overwhelmed with park goers. Excellent service as well. All around excellent experience.

2021-07-05My family lives in Maryland, and we have been coming to Funck’s in Annville for over a decade and have always had a great experience. Sadly, that changed this time.Since the Brewery took over, the service and food had gone to hell. The staff is rude, and didn’t pay us much attention. Upon arrival, the hostess walked away and was gone for a while before returning. The server that we were assigned took our drink order and didn’t return for over 20 minutes with our coffee, but she did take time to chat with her friends that were sitting at another table. Our food took about 30 minutes to arrive, and then we waited an additional 10 minutes for a refill on coffee.Sadly, I think the server was either drunk or suffering from a hangover. We waited an additional 10 minutes for our check. The restaurant was not busy at all, so there was no reason for the poor service and delay with everything.

2020-12-24This place is no longer Funks restaurant. It is now the second location for Snitz Creek Brewery and Pub. The beer was amazing as usual and the food just as good. This was my first real experience with this location. Other than running in just to grab some beer. I usually go to the location in Lebanon. I highly recommend stopping in if you get in the area.

2020-02-08Very welcoming environment. We walked through the door and was greated instantly. The nice lady has seen my wife was cold so she seated us by the fire without being asked to. The waitress came right over took our order and within what seem like minutes we had our food. Price was pretty well spot on for the area. Will definitely return.
