Germantown Espresso is my favorite place in the neighborhood to get coffee and grub, and hang with a diverse crowd of open and like-minded people that share my beliefs in community. It has been an asset to the community since they opened and I hope theyre around for a really long time!
It has a bohemian vibe and looks nice and cozy. There is an entrance on Armat st across from Green st friends school gym. I went there in the morning recently and the entire place smelled of bacon. (If you love the smell of bacon, this is the place for you.) A socially conscious, small business with young local ownership.
Small, but very creative and homey atmosphere. Ordered a grilled cheese sandwich from here and let me tell you how good. that. was. It had gruyere and cheddar and my gosh was every bite as cheesy as the next ❤ would definitely come again! I really need to try the drinks next time.
Best place in Philly for coffee and a warm community atmosphere. I love visiting just to see what new and interesting people I will meet. The staff are extremely friendly and the food is consistently great. Great place to work on your laptop, meet a date, or attend one of their live music events!
The owners/staff will welcome you to their wonderful establishement; a current & modern version of hipster coffeehouses circa mid to late 60s. Great variety of affordable coffe, tea, baked goods/snacks, etc. Friendly & supportive to local up-and-coming artists/musicians. Highly recommended!
Funky little coffee shop set back on a twisty little street with a very chill vibe. Local artists wares for sale on a little shelf inside, as well as some really neat pieces hanging on the walls. Three little nooks for seating on the ground floor, a listening room upstairs, and a little wooden table & chairs outside as well as a bench. They have a nice selection of teas and offer multiple specials on chalkboards as well as standard coffee shop brews. There is a rotating selection of pastries (savory and sweet) as well as a varied list of available sandwiches, egg concoctions for breakfast/brunch and meat/cheese/veggie versions if thats what youre in the mood for. I had a lovely Taiwanese Wulong tea and the Sun-Ra sandwich (grilled cheese on a delightfully nutty grain bread with avocado and sun-dried tomato spread).
A warm and inviting place where you can chill and get some coffee , food, and comfort. And the service is great. I do not think that any place is perfect, for there is always room for improvement ,but There is nothing between four and five where I can get in on .......so they get a five!
Plays extremely loud music that blasts through walls all hours of the night making it impossible to sleep especially if you have kids which is extremely disrespectful and not courteous of neighbors. Talked to multiple times about noise level to no avail. Next step, law enforcement will be getting involved. Theres no reason why music should be played at this level in residential neighborhoods.

2021-07-28Very friendly staff in a small operation. There is upstairs seating for when the weather isn’t the best but more of a grab and go operation from what I can tell. The iced latte was well done.

2022-02-16I picked up a small black coffee for a friend, who also is the owner of the Flower Cafe in Maplewood Mall. Because of taking care of her mother, who passed away a week ago at the young age of ninety-eight years old, and the Coronavirus pandemic Linda has not been opened. One of the owners of Germantown Expresso was a frequent customer of hers, so it is only fair to patronize each other. They have a take-out window, and thats why I went there.

2020-01-12Love this place as it has a nice local, artist-y atmosphere, tasty food and nice staff. I especially like the upstairs “living room” area where you can chill and do some work or hang out while drinking your tea or coffee and eating your meal. They have Gluten Free and vegan options too which is a plus for those with dietary restrictions.

2021-08-02Wanted to try a new coffee shop, so I stopped in today. Delicious iced mocha and very friendly staff. Ive gotten used to not wearing a mask anymore, and I appreciated that they have a sign on the front door saying that they have masks for customers who forgot theirs.
