greystone manor in other cities:
Bed and Breakfast without the breakfast. It is $6 a day to add breakfast if you reserve it on a third party site. I have never heard of that and Ive stayed at several B&Bs.Small tub, shower head is calcified to where it doesnt spray properly and hot water takes a while to kick in. Bed is very loud and uncomfortable. It is also very noisy. Rugs in the room havent been cleaned in ages and there is pet hair accumulated under the bed.Owner is not very nice and judging by the follow-up on a lot of these reviews feedback doesnt matter. Building has a coded system but door doesnt fully lock just sits ajar.It is also very hot in the rooms and you have to open the windows to let in cool air. However, that in turn makes you listen to the trucks driving past all night as it is next to a highway.I would suggest finding a different B&B in the area as there are several.
We can not say enough good things about this place. The grounds were immaculate, room was super clean, and the breakfast was fantastic. Staff helped us and was very friendly. We would recommend this place to anyone. Stayed in room 5 in the mansion, it was small, but the price was awesome and the room very, very clean. Will go back for sure and tell all our friends traveling to do the same. We are local to Lancaster and had a great staycation that we desperately needed. Do yourself a favor and call them and book direct so you can get the free extra perks and best prices.
We have loved staying here. Ive seen some reviewers complaining about small rooms or 1 ply toilet paper. This is a bed and breakfast. Its not a large franchise cookie cutter hotel. Its essentially a large house with bedrooms and attached bathrooms. We are in room 4 on the second floor and its beautiful. Gorgeous victorian decor and furniture, beautiful landscaping, comfy bed. I saw someone complaining about their wifi and TV. Weve had absolutely zero problems with that. We found Angela to be very welcoming and accommodating. Theres a fridge to keep food in if you go out to eat. Plenty of beautiful places to sit outside. And it was $70 a night. I honestly dont know how much more you can ask for. I would certainly recommend this place. Were staying here for a family wedding in the area, and I wish everyone couldve stayed here to enjoy it!
Amazing!!! The rooms are all unique. Each bed is absolutely amazing. Angela the owner was the sweetest i ever met. So helpful. Breakfast delicious, the landscape was breathtaking and its so close to everything. But by far my fav was the incredible sunsets with the one of a kind fire pit.
*edit- greystone manor has blocked me on FB and refused to settle my complaint through priceline. They even went as far as accusing some other reviewer of being me and that Im posting multiple reviews. They told me google will be in touch and that I need to stop harassing them and posting fake info and multiple reviews. This reviewer posted 7 months ago! I was living in CO at the time and I have never heard of this place until we found them on priceline. Note, their response does not reflect my concerns and its as if they are responding to someone else. Also cant post pictures....* The building itself was beautiful on the outside. However, the room we stayed in was less than par. 1. Stain sheets, smelt moldy - never saw a manager or employee to request a fresh set & we stayed 3 nights!!! 2. For a couple visiting the area we were given a square tub/shower - which barely fit one person. The water took very long to get warm/hot and the shower head was so clogged it was like being pelted during the shower. 3. The manager Angela is extremely rude. During the first interaction with her on a third party site we had issues, so I kind of knew what to expect. After our first phone call I was told I would get a call back, never got one. I ended up calling back and finally getting my card charged. I also sent a message via FB messenger, took over a day to get back and then never read my further messages. I could go into so many more details but Ill move along. 4. No access to Breakfast or Amenities - say what? A bed and breakfast with no breakfast? Haha. Yep, because we booked through priceline we were offered breakfast but at an additional $6.00 per person per day!!!!!!!!!!! I was told by Angela that when booking through third party youre only granted access to your room and the garden outside as well as the lounge inside, but no breakfast or the pool if it were open. 5. The building was always left open. We were instructed on how to enter and exit and each time we came back the door was NOT locked or secured. 6. Favorite part was the chickens. Probably the only nice thing about this place. So overall our experience was awful and we will never book here again!! Just saying, no use crying over spilt milk.
Oh my goodness. Where do I start? This was by far the worst b&b Ive seen. We were so bamboozled by them. Please dont stay here. Dont give them the money you worked so hard for. The main house is ok. But that doesnt negate everything else and they charge the same for the main house as the other building. No customer service. There was a woman running around yelling she got a fish hook in her face and the people we saw around were supper sketchy. The steamboat inn like 2 miles away is a WAY BETTER IDEA. we were so horrified by this b&b place that we left and booked and stayed elsewhere. This place doesnt seem in anyway associated with the Amish, just in case you were thinking it was.
Absolutely without a doubt the worst experience ever! We checked out one hour after arrival. Needless to say no refund or partial. The hostess was abrupt, rude, anddiscourteous. The accommodations were dirty, threadbare and mildew. Dont waste your money or time here. Go somewhere, anywhere else. There is no way to leave no star rating.
What an absolute joy to discover this gem of a property in Bird-In-Hand PA. Angie is a RockStar when it comes to comfortable, beautiful and classic B&B accommodations. Our room, a king room w/ a claw foot bathtub, was elegantly appointed yet totally comfortable. The magic of Greystone Manor is the outdoor gardens, though. The care taken to create this magical outdoor space steps from the main BIH thoroughfare greets you when you arrive. The use of antiques and floor and wall coverings in the main mansion building are tasteful and refined. As a host, Angie is incredibly accessible, answering questions and offering helpful advice to weary travelers. Just what you’d want after a 2.5hour driveYou can stay in the heart of the Amish country tourism hustle but feel like you’re sleeping amidst beauty, elegance and grace for the same price as some of the far-less comfortableChain hotels.
Very clean, very nice people, and very nice breakfast. We stayed 3 days and had a great time. Used the pool and relaxed on the balcony of our room at night. Breakfast was delicious each morning and the staff very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the area so much we decided to come back in October. I recommend room 2 in mansion it was beautiful and large had a sitting room, big bathroom with tub and shower and 2 tv’s and big king bed.
My husband and I stayed in the carriage house queen size room. The rooms are ok, our blanket had stains on it. The room need updating. No one is around all day so if you have questions or need assistance you have to wait until the evening. Due to covid I thought hotels and ect aren’t allowed to have people coming to clean the room. My husband and I were out all day we come back and the room was cleaned and bed was made. We didn’t know someone was going to come in and clean the room. We have been trying to be careful to have limited contact with people . Thank goodness I bought my Lysol spray and wipes! Breakfast is only 8am-9am I read the reviews about the breakfast we didn’t have the breakfast. We won’t return I actually wanted to leave and get new hotel but everything was booked in the area! I won’t recommend this place to friends or family.
I have traveled all over the world. I have to be honest. This is the VERY BEST B&B EVER that I have been to. Very Friendly staff and owners, awesome food, very clean. Awesome fire pit area, pool, pizza over, awesome ponds, amazing landscaping, so much to list a must visit B&B.
Clean and comfortable, staff was great will be back for sure. Just a tip, be sure to call the inn direct to book so you can book a package they are great and included the full breakfast and we ate at a local place not far from the inn which was really good too. Great experience.
Great price, location was on point and the staff was funny and friendly. We had a great time here. Booked for a wedding we were attending down the road, price was only $89 with breakfast, very clean and neat house. Definitely recommend if you want a clean great priced room.
Stunning Grounds!! Stunning historic house!! BUT, YOU CAN’T RUN A BED AND BREAKFAST WITH A BUG INFESTED BED. We were bitten all night long and did not sleep at all. Something is not quite right here.I also have to add, that we paid the extra $6 for the “hot breakfast” but we’re still disappointed with the whole thing. There was no fresh coffee — just dregs. The condiments for the coffee were a complete mess. All of the breads/cakes were old and stale. We tried to engage the owners in polite conversation, but one was going so fast that we couldn’t get her attention. The other one seemed like he had been up all night and stared straight through me when I spoke to him — no response.PS — the breakfast we experienced was much more like the one George Lane describes , and much less like the one that the owners described in response to him. What I think happens here is that there is elaborate cooking every 3 or 4 days (or when they feel like it), and then leftovers on the days in between, hence the uneven ratings and remarks.
The outside facilities were beautiful but our room was cold and our bedding dirty. There was a dog barking for an hr in the next room . The owner was rude and upset when we asked her if she could please take care of it..they seem not to want to be bothered by their guest .. breakfast was stale sweets and A black banana on counter.. ( continental bkfst) this is more like a motel than a bed and breakfast do not recommend.. will never stay there again.
A bit disappointing. Let me begin by saying I didnt get the full experience... my wife and I had to leave after only 2 hours due to an emergency at home. However, the room was exceptionally tiny, the bathroom was similarly small. The bed was way to flimsy and creaky, with little support. The room was only moderately clean, and wife was not at all impressed when she found a number of hairs in the bedding that were not the color of our hair.Perhaps the biggest problem may have been in the booking. Full disclosure, we did not book through the Greystone website, but through a 3rd party service. However, the pics of the room and description did NOT match what we received. The pics showed a spacious bedroom, a clawed tub, and furniture other than a bed. Our room did not match this. It seems that the pics used to sell the booking were not of the actual room to be received. It also mentioned a full breakfast, included in the price. However, on arriving, we were told that the breakfast was an up charge. What was free was a continental breakfast. Now that would be well and good, if it was what was described. I guess the gist is I kind of felt bait and switched. Finally though, let me be 100 percent clear. This whole affair and its problems may have been something outside the control of the establishment. The woman who we met during check in was incredibly nice, helpful, and simply wonderful to meet. I have no complaints in that regard. Honestly, we were just disappointed and put out that, had we not had to run home, our weekend would have still been less than we expected it to be. This might work for a place to crash if you are touring Pennsylvania Dutch country all day and need a place to flop, but Id not recommend it as a romantic weekend get away.
My stay was horrible. I booked the inn for my wifes birthday. When we arrived it was run down and smelled really bad. Room was dirty, urine already in toliet. Very hot as well . No air conditioner control. We discovered ant and roach killer in our room . Later a roach actually crawled on my wife. We left right away. We ended up having to pay to stay elsewhere . Went back to complain and was accused of bringing roach myself and not issued a refund. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!
An absolutely disappointing experience. We booked back in October for a Queen Suite in the mansion. We were placed in the Carriage House Room 14... a tiny, damp and mildewed room. No access to temperature control in the room made it miserable...so cold. Just old, uncomfortable and dirty. We had an issue with disgusting ants around window sills and in the dirty bathroom (In February?!). Room very unclean and if we had not come into town specifically for a show that evening we would have checked out and not stayed there. The owner was unfriendly and seemed put-out. The cost of the room is outrageous for what this place claims they offer. As far as Im concerned the website photos and description of this place is 100% false advertising and inaccurate . The list goes on and on. The innkeeper was extremely unwelcoming and missing in action our entire stay. Breakfast was from 8-9am. Arriving at 0830 no innkeeper...no breakfast. 1/2 of a muffin...a few small grapes and not even a full mug of coffee remained. Obviously we did not get breakfast there which was included in the $135 room cost. No one available to talk to or complain. We will absolutely never return or recommend and will do my best to warn others to stay away!
I cannot give this place enough stars! Beautiful and clean inside and out! Beautiful gardens and pool. Very nice owner! We got a choice of 1 gift card to local restaurants. It was quiet and the other guests were nice. The owner was more than willing to answer out questions. The room was beautiful and is located close to the farmers market, mini golf, and kitchen kettle village, etc. The pool was warm and there was also a cute cat on the grounds. There was an ice machine and paid snack area, as well as DVDs. The breakfast was expansive and delicious and cooked by the owner. We have been coming to this area for years and this is by far the best experience!! We will be sure to return!
Great service and pleasant staff. Family owned Bussiness. They went the extra mile by allowing us an after hours check-in. We were able to arrive around 11:30pm, and had our room ready. We spent 1 night. Modern finishes in the bathroom made the experience fresh and clean! Breakfast was tasty and we were offered alternative options due to our dietary restrictions which we were not expecting. The property is very beautiful and affordable.
Loved this place. The rooms were very cute, well appointed, plenty cool for us actually very cool AC worked great, tv was good and best part private bathroom for just us. We loved the gardens and pool so relaxing. Food was amazing, the strawberry crepes oh my delicious. Will be back.
The staff at the inn was amazing. We had to cancel our reservation and they worked with us to reschedule for a future date and it was just unbelievable they made us feel like family. The bed was comfortable the room was great the pool was relaxing in the garden spectacular. So glad we got to finally go thank you so much for working with us.
We stayed here because it was so close to the American music theater and sight and sound and we had tickets to go there. 6 of us stayed for 3 nights in 3 separate rooms. The rooms were warm and cozy and had everything you need at a hotel. We loved the Firepit our back that we could all sit around in the evening. The innkeeper Angie was super helpful and insightful of the area and what to do and see. The inn was clean and decorated for Christmas. We had a different breakfast each morning, pancakes, French toast and eggs there was plenty to eat and all good everyday there was fruit, cereal, bagels, juice, croissants and so much more. We will return again some day for sure.
Loved this place. Our room was in the carriage house, it had a great view of the farm behind us, the bed was very comfortable, yes they had great AC and it was blowing hard actually was a bit chilly in the room but I love it that way. The grounds, oh my they are spectacular. Innkeeper helped us book tickets to see a show at sight and sound that was amazing totally recommend that, also we did a scooter tour that was fun but a little pricey. Over all from the food to the staff to the room this place was just perfect. Sorry I accidentally put a 1 star review this place is a 5 star 10/10 it was an accident and I can not get it off, Im kinda computer illiterate, lol.
Was very disappointed with our recent stay. We stayed in the king room and based on the pictures, we were expecting a charming room. The biggest problem was that the bed squeaked loudly every time we moved. Another problem was that the door handle was barley attached to the door. Also, it snowed with freezing rain and sleet and the parking lot was not even salted or shoveled which made for very slick conditions when walking to the main house at night in the dark. The breakfast also was disappointing and I have had better free breakfast at the chain hotels. If you want hot food at breakfast, be prepared to pay an extra $5.00.
We had a Fall getaway in Amish country. We absolutely love this place it was very clean the people were very friendly and the location was very central to everything we wanted to do. The all you can eat breakfast was more than enough or we could skip lunch and then we had a dinner voucher included in our package to eat at a place called Good N Plenty and that was great the food was amazing. I would recommend this place if you want a clean comfortable friendly no-frills attached stay at The best price. Our room was $99 it was small yes however very very cute, comfortable, and the meals attached to it could not be beat. They do have bigger rooms too. But the best part of this day was the apple cider donuts at breakfast oh my god they are to die for.
Excellent service and wonderful staff. The bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfast was hot and freash with many choices. Its a short drive from Lancaster without being in downtown, but you get all of the country side. Also the garden is beautiful. My wife and I absolutely loved our stay there.
I do not know if the main house is better so this review is based off the carriage house room ONLY.VERY LOUD rooms. If another room is watching TV or talking, you will hear it as if they are in your room.Door to upper floor rooms slams shut loudly. There is no individual room heat/ac, you are at the mercy of the owners. We had to buy to fan and open the window even though it was 30 degrees outside. Not overly clean. Towels were stained and had holes in them. Bathroom fixtures were covered in hard water stains. No tissues.I should also add this should not be listed as a B&B....you get a very poor excuse of a continental type breakfast. You have to pay $5 dollars extra to get a hot meal which is either pancakes or waffles it seems, two items that are extremely cheap to make and quick to cook. It should be included. I have NEVER stayed in a B&B that does this....never, and we stay in lots of B&Bs.Bed was pretty comfortable. Many other reviews say they were terrible. I woke up with no back pain so it wasnt bad.I would only book this if you can guarantee a main house room although I cant say it is better. This is a great location for things in the area. Very close to the sight and sound theater, train museum, lots of antique shops and the big farmers market.
Best Bed and breakfast in the Bird and Hand area. Super clean, rooms are big. Ángela makes you feel home. Close to restaurants and farmer market. This place should be rated 4 starts. Peaceful surrounded areas. We have been in three different B&B Around here but this is the best. Cant wait to come back.
We had a great stay at the Greystone we had one of their tonight all inclusive packages which was well worth the money I deathly recommend calling them directly to book some people did not it did not get the dinner certificates with a hot breakfast then call them direct. The room was inviting we stayed in the carriage house AC was perfect you can’t control your own but they had it very very cool also the newly renovated bathroom was so amazing I loved the tile work. We had a view of the farm out back and could easily walk the 2 acres that they had the fire pit was amazing every night. We would definitely come back here the price was great service was outstanding people were so friendly and the guests and the innkeepers it was just a really neat experience. We stayed this past weekend and after looking at some of the other reviews that are one star I had to write my own not sure why people would say there is no AC it was cranking like crazy and very very cool breakfast was all you can eat all you have to do is ask for more so not sure about that either seems to me a little fishy that people would post things like that and not know they explain them at check-in and during breakfast when they put down your entrée that you can have as much as you want. So all in all We had a great experience and would recommend I also would recommend eating at the Lancaster brewing company and we also ate at the smokehouse barbecue and bruised up at plain and fancy we found both of those things to her in keepers both were good. We would also recommend going to the Mount Hope winery in the Lancaster central market that was fun.
We just got done staying here this past weekend loved it. The room was very clean very cute and the grounds were just amazing. The breakfast was all you can eat you can ask for as many pancakes or sausage links that you wanted but the breakfast bar itself pretty much filled me up with the fresh fruits the muffins the Danish it was so good. We’ve been to a lot of places here in Lancaster but this by far the grounds just made this place absolutely stunning and peaceful we can watch the balloons from the fire pit outback And a full moon this past weekend even made this experience outside better. The innkeepers and other guests were so friendly it was like one big family at breakfast Time. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.
Beautiful and charming Bed and Breakfast on the outskirts of Amish Country. The manor is beautiful. Gardens are stunning. Rooms are small but have the old home charm. Breakfast has a wide variety but limited vegetarian & vegan options. If you want a nice peaceful gate away, this place is worth the money, very affordable and nice staff.
A great place to stay. The owner Angela was extremely nice and we enjoyed a few conversations with her. She was knowledgeable on the surrounding area and events going on. The room (#10) was cozy and extremely clean. With extra pillows and blankets if needed. The breakfast had a nice selection of food and drinks. From homemade pastries, fruit, and cook to order items such as crepes, eggs, and waffles. Outback there was a wonderful fire pit with a build around swing which held four benches. My only regret is that I could not see the gardens in full bloom.
Christmas vacay was outstanding in all aspects. We stayed 2 nights in a room in the mansion building they call it, lovely 2nd floor suite with original stained glass and very ornate doors, and even hinges. Very beautiful if you take the time to look at the architecture, Im an artist so I tend to really notice the small things. Very well appointed and very clean. The manager on duty that day was so pleasant, very quick check in and set up a lovely tour for us through the countryside. Breakfast was enough and very delicious. Eggs from the chickens outside and fresh biscuits one day, the second morning my favorite waffles topped with apples and cream and thick cut Canadian bacon. Was very pleased with our stay and would recommend if you want a very neat bed and breakfast with lots of charm and character that is very clean and friendly staffed.
We are staying at the Inn right now for four nights absolutely one of the best experiences we have had on a vacation. Don’t let those one star reviews for you there only one contribution and usually not for real. Look at Expedia and booking.com I say those are real time reviews that you had to actually stay at a place. People are cruel and love to post fake stuff about food places all the time. We are only paying $89 a night and it is worth every penny. Room is clean pool is great grounds awesome and the food is all you can eat so anyone that says they’re not getting enough food well I’m not sure they might not be at the right greystone there are four of them across the country this is the one that I met in Bird in hand PA. The staff is incredible and everything is so clean.
Long weekend turned out to be one of our best getaways ever. This place was an oasis. The gardens and pool and cute little streams just made our trip so relaxing just what we needed. Our room was in the carriage house and was very quiet and cute, Lloyd like a cabin with the exposed beam ceiling and wood trims. Ac was great and cranking which we love it cool and the breakfast on the patio was just the perfect touch home made waffles with cream and grilled ham you could have as much as you wanted and ask for a refill but with all the breakfast bar stuff like fruit and muffins and whoopie pies we could barely eat what was given to us. I totally recommend this inn if you want a relaxing getaway and an unbelievable price. Ask for the carriage house the rooms are so quiet and in the back of the property inside the gardens.
Love this place! Booked a room last year for a weekend trip with my son, and enjoyed it so much I came back for a longer stay with my husband for our 25th wedding anniversary. Very nice pool area and a good breakfast (the hot portion of breakfast used.to be a small extra charge, but is now included). Its uniquely situated to be close to everything, but it feels like its in real country, since it borders farmland and the owners keep chickens. Dont miss the fireflies rising off the fields in back in the summer months!
We had a great weekend here. Room 3 was perfect for us it had a large living room that worked well since my wife goes to bed before me. Bathroom was very clean, room clean. Very quiet in this old mansion too. Breakfast was great the bar had bagels, muffins, danish, fruit, sticky buns cereals oatmeal and granola so plenty on that for us and they made one morning waffles with ham and the other eggs any way we wanted with bacon and biscuits. Overall it was a fantastic relaxing stay, just what we needed. Will go back again for sure.
Beautiful bldg.Kept clean; esp. downstairs living room and kitchen. We were on the top floor. Lovely view, modern and pretty bathrm., cozy bed.Towels replaced daily, bed made, drinking glasses replaced, etc.Nice $5 breakfast.Continental offered daily with room.Better offerings on wk end.Hostess was regularly available.
Room was extremely small, make sure you check out the room size when you are booking your stay, breakfast is very scant, have not really seen the owners since arriving, I wish they were more interactive, the gardens are very beautiful and the location is great if you want to wander around Bird and Hand.
Absolutely cannot beat the price best value Inn in Lancaster by far the food was outstanding innkeeper was so pleasant and helpful even booked us dinner and wine cellar the grounds though make this place spectacular from the fire pit to the pool to the hot tub 2 acres of just Lancaster County beauty I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a carefree relaxing Zen experience the gardens are just magnificent it took us to a simpler time not a care in the world just amazing If you want an experience where the innkeepers are on top of you they’re trying to shove cookies down your throat or you just want to have somebody to talk to you 24 seven this is not the place for you this is a retreat get away from life and just relax with your significant other or family it was the best experience we have had in years just so relaxing and amazing I cannot say anything else it was just absolutely perfect.
Pro&Con.... Very clean, comfortable bed, friendly owners, cool old house. Very accommodating to late night arriving guests, however, having them then drag up the stairs to the third floor what sounded like bags of bowling balls at 11pm and again down at 7am is a little rude on the guests part.... States a room with a fire place - turns out to be a portable plug-in fireplace; States a wide array of breakfast items to choose from when its really this is what I am making today so do you want any? Otherwise its a bar of store bought pastries cut up; ..... So overall, it was nice but disappointing.
I would give this Bed & Breakfast zero stars if I could. They are charging B&B Prices for Seedy motel Quality. This was supposed to be a romantic getaway for my husband & I- we go to Amish country every spring & this was the FILTHIEST motel weve ever stayed at. We had to stay at the Soudersburg motel last year & it was soooo much cleaner than this & for half the price. We wanted to cancel our reservation & leave once we saw the actual room & realized we had been TRICKED by the outside decor (the outside garden is very beautiful), but the owners wife nearly screamed at my husband that there were NO REFUNDS, so we were stuck. The pictures speak for themselves. We stayed in the carriage house. The 1st picture shows what the room looked like when we booked it online & because weve had good experiences with staying in Amish country in the past, we trusted that wed receive good quality from this place as well. NOT TRUE! THESE PEOPLE ARE FALSELY ADVERTISING. When we arrived they told us it would cost extra for breakfast- the dryest continental breakfast was included: old coffee, half drunk cheap juice from their refrigerator, fruit that hasnt been cleaned. The following pictures show the filth we encountered when we actually entered the room. There were ant motels & cobwebs all over the room, cobwebs w/ dirt in the corners, a beatup dresser & chair from the 80s, the sheets smelled clean, but they were obviously old worn out & stained, the hair dryer was from the 80s & had more dirt caked in it than the corners of the room. The shower had the hot/cold mixed up so i burned myself when turning it on. The fresh towels they kept bringing us had these dark red stains on them. The screens were ripped so we couldnt open the windows & get fresh air without fear of even bigger bugs coming in the room. The walls were absolutely filthy & there was paint chippings everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. Please read yelp reviews- its easier for businesses to add their own 5 star reviews & skew the overall rating. Hopefully google will change that, but unfortunately thats how it is now. There are so many affordable motels, hotels & B&BS in Amish country that provide much better quality. DONT BE SUCKED INTO THIS PLACE W/ LOW PRICES OR PACKAGE DEALS OR BY THE OUTSIDE SCENERY.
This place was absolutely PERFECT.The owners are wonderfully attentive. The manor is beautiful beyond description. The location is right in the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country. This property couldnt get any better.Im looking forward to MANY returns.John & JenniferLabor day weekend, 2017
BEWARE! I booked on their website and received a confirmation by email. We get to the B&B, no room! The very unhelpful woman at checkin says to read the fine print under terms and conditions. They have to call you to confirm you have a room. Seriously. The confirmation message on THEIR own booking page AND the confirmation email somehow did NOT mean I have a room. What BS! Never again.
We had an amazing weekend in Amish country so sad we have to leave. The room was quiet in the middle of Amish country there was chickens on site goats and even sheep. It was a nice getaway from our normal city life. We stayed in room number four on the second floor of the mansion it was beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfast was amazing blackberry cobbler pancakes bacon so much good food. We will be back for sure and definitely recommend to all we know.
READ, VERY IMPORTANT!!!!! Also, READ 2 STARS ON YELP!!!!!I definitely wont stay here again and highly suggest you never do.This place is horrible! I stayed here for the Amish Country Classic Bike Ride this year. They asked if I wanted to be on the first or second floor. What they fail to mention is that the room doesnt have AC or any kind of circulating air control. Though it was chilly outside, our room became really hot and very uncomfortable. We opened the window to get ai,r but then was overwhelmed by the smell of cow droppings.I explained the issues we had the past night and they didnt seem to care. They only came up with excuses and never once said, Im Sorry.Reason why the air was not on: Its cold out side so why would we have the air on?Other things to note:1. The bath towels are tiny, thin, and rough - definitely the cheapest they could find.2. The rooms smell because they dont have any air circulation.3. The bathroom and shower looked dirty/ rusty. The knob on the shower was labeled wrong. If you wanted hot water, you had to turn it to the C and if you wanted cold water, youd have to turn the knob to the H.4. There was no thermostat.5. If you want anything hot for breakfast, you will have to pay extra.6. The wifi does not reach the carriage house.7. The innkeepers (Man and Women) are both very rude. They will be friendly while you check in and pay. But the second you ask for something or tell them an issue, they become very defensive, rude and nasty.
The 2 stars are for the building it self and the grounds that I can only imagine in the summer months would be wonderful. Our experience was not the best and we have been to MANY B&Bs. Husband was nice, wife not so much, not your typical host, short and not accommodating. Skim milk as cream for your coffee (on the first morning I had to knock at the door to ask for creamer for our coffee and was told - they didnt have any yet...not until 8! Day two the only offer was a waffle and sausage - Im Diabetic asked for an egg (which they have chicken on the property) and was told NO. As for the room - the bathroom was incredibly SMALL, we had ants in our room, the towel rack fell off the door after 2 minutes in the room and the bathroom door didnt close shut. Never again.....
VERY DISAPPOINTED with our visit to Greystone Manor. FIRST, when reserving a room, we paid extra for a room with a fireplace. We were completely shocked to find that the fireplace was a portable plug-in electric fireplace that didnt even work (we were not credited the extra cost). SECOND, we reserved a room with a bath which turned-out to be an old style 1/2 length bath which could not be set in. When we asked for another room with a full bath, we were told that there were no rooms with a full bath. THIRD, the breakfast was not appealing or tasty. The first morning was just pancakes plus whatever was on the buffet which consisted of stale pastries and unappealing fruits. The second morning was french toast plus what appeared to be leftovers from the previous morning. The ham and sausage however was good but very small portions. FOURTH, the hostess, dressed in sweat clothes, seemed to be too busy to want to provide a welcoming attitude and personality. I felt as though our visit was an inconvenience. My guess is that since we showed-up on Christmas afternoon, it seemed the hostess was preoccupied with taking care of personnel family events instead of providing the proper customer service. FIFTH, we were not provided a Wi-Fi password available upon check-in which also demonstrates poor customer service. The historic Victorian decor of the house and rooms was very nice and cozy but with all of the aforementioned issues, I would never think of staying here again or recommending this B&B to anyone.
Best Christmas ever. We stayed here because it was one of the omly places open over Christmas holiday, and so glad we did. The breakfast was delicious all you can eat pancakes, sausage and cobbler, pastries, fruit, juice and more, plenty for sure and so good. The innkeepers made us feel at home, even helping us book dinner at a restaurant Christmas night. The room we had wasa suite on the second floor, room 3 it was called. Very warm and homey the stained glass was beautiful. We would recommend this place to anyone that wants a warm cozy experience. Tip though call them direct you can get specials too and even your dinner added like we did.
Never go here! Its terrible! I stayed here with my mom and sister. They advertise that Room 3 sleeps up to 4 guests. What they fail to mention is that one of the four beds is an air mattress and the other is a stained futon with a broken leg. I paid $210 a night to sleep on an air mattress because the futons broken leg caused it to lean and bow in the corner. When we first entered the room we immediately looked at the bed to make sure it was clean. There were body hairs stuck to the cheap sheets. When we informed the proprietor, he didnt apologize or say anything; just came and quietly (sulkily?) changed the sheets. The shower was underwhelming with a nasty old shower head. There was no water pressure and the shower head was caked with rust. The bath towels are tiny, thin, and rough - definitely the cheapest they could find. Thermostat was set very low and the room was freezing. There was no temperature control in the room. The website advertises a hot breakfast and free wifi. The wifi barely reaches to the second floor and guests must pay extra for a hot breakfast. The grounds are beautifully kept, but the pool looked dirty and the hot tub was freezing cold. Definitely wont stay here again!
First off lets start by saying the building and grounds are impressive, check-in and check-out are quick, and the room looked very nice. The bed was very loosely put together, the mattress was broken down with a pad on top that made it worse, the bed was extremely noisy, and the quilt was older than the building. Breakfast was so cheaply done, a small danish was sliced into 6 pieces, the juice glass was no bigger than a double shot glass, only one choice from the kitchen. The owner would only talk if you asked her a question...and would only provide you with what you asked. Oh the easy check-out; drop your key in a bowl on the way out...that way there is no conversation about how was your stay. This was my first experience with a B&B and based on this stay it will be my last. Avoid this place.
We checked in and immediately went shopping. Came back around 9pm, we brought some drinks and food back. Within minutes there were hundreds of ants. We went and told the owner & she said ok leave the key. My mother said dont you want to see it and she said I dont have to. That tells me she knew. She did come over and spray and said it was because we had soda. We told her we didnt want to stay there, she said ok give me the key. We were there a total of an hour. When we got home my mom called her and she said she was going to charge for 1 day. My mom said why we were there less than an hour, she said I am now going to charge you for both days. She said she didnt care about reviews. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
Perfect B&B in a great Amish setting. We loved the grounds and the room in the mansion was so clean, and quiet we had room 2 a king bedroom. The breakfast was a lot of food, fruit, danish, muffins, cereals, juices, eggs, Canadian bacon, toast, cobbler, and even pie, yep pie pumpkin cream I think it was I didnt have room to try it from my entree. We would recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet, cute place B&B experience, it is a no frills kinda place which we liked, we didn;t want to be bothered and have someone shove cookies down our throats. WIFI was good and in our suite, 2 tvs worked but we didnt use them much though. Overall a relaxing getaway for us which is what we needed and wanted. 5 star 2 thumbs up.
No air conditioning on 2nd floor of the Carriage House although it was very hot in the rooms. Room small but adequate. Bed and pillows uncomfortable. No place to put toiletries in bathroom. No closet. Dog was in dining room and kitchen where breakfast was being prepared and served. I would not stay here again and certainly would not recommend it to anyone.
Pretty disappointed with Greystone Manor. Stayed at many B&Bs in Lancaster and always wanted to try this one. The gardens were beautiful as in the pictures but the rooms needed work. The bed squeaked ALL night with every move, had to stand on the bed and ottoman to turn on the fan and lights since the chains were not long enough for anyone to reach, towels were very thin and inexpensive. The male owner was nice and this place could do well if many repairs were done and a little more love put into what a guest wants when picking a B&B over a hotel. Room two has a king bed yet is listed that it is able to accommodate 4 yet no pull out sofa. Do not like being negative but this could be a very nice place if several changes were made.
I tried to book all week the communication was horrible . I called they told me to call back tomorrow to book.I called back no one answered the phone. I left a message and nobody returned my call. When I finally got through to someone the room was taken. Bad experience.
The place is very cute and clean, however the customer service was terrible. We were told that breakfast starts at 8, so we headed down a little later at 9am. We rang the bell, and when the woman came out we asked about the breakfast we had purchased at check in she said “yeah, you’re late. It ended at 9.” We said we didn’t realize it ended so early and she started to treat us like children who are late for school. It was very rude. She then said that she could scrape together some leftovers for us, and that we are lucky she didn’t throw them out already. She said they tell everyone and always write it down on the card they give out at check in. We showed her the card, which had only the code to the door and their names, but no breakfast hours. Then she said that her husband had certainly told us it ended at 9, and then said “we’ve been doing this for 16 years.” We would have been just fine with her saying “I’m sorry about the miscommunication, I can either give you a refund on your breakfast or I can put together a plate of leftovers.” Rather than feeling welcome we felt like we were intruders in their home. We thought the whole point of going to a bed and breakfast is too feel cozy and welcome, but we didn’t feel that way at all.
Affordable down home hospitality! My husband and I booked a night at the Greystone Manor B&B this past Monday as we came down a day early before attending a conference. We were warmly greeted by the innkeeper who gave us tour and details of our stay. The facilities were very inviting, clean, with plenty of brochures/information to surrounding attractions and restaurants. Our room had a beautiful bed, spacious bathroom, flatscreen tv, and peace and quiet(we were on the top floor.) Breakfast was fantastic including coffee, tea, juice, sweetbreads and fruits. For $3 extra they offered a HOMECOOKED breakfast with quiche, bread pudding, biscuits, and home fries. Aside from the breakfast, we had lovely chats with the innkeeper, her husband, and the other guests.Pros~Beautiful facilities, accommodations, innkeepers, food, pool/hot tub outdoors in warm months, close to everythingCons~ Wifi didnt reach to our room on top floor
Where do I begin? If you enjoy sleeping in a bug infested room, with smelly and dirty sheets and eating breakfast amongst cats, then this place is for you.I checked in and I checked within a few hours, Im not exaggerating its that bad. Requested a refund with no luck. The gentlemen at the desk was nasty and wouldnt acknowledge to my complaints.
We had a wonderful stay in Lancaster. Greystone manor was absolutely beautiful and perfect for our weekend getaway. My husband and I stayed in room one in the mansion on the first floor it had an incredible clawfoot tub And was decorated beautifully in the Victorian Decour. Our room was very clean the service was top-notch and breakfast was plentiful. The grounds were absolutely magnificent so beautiful and relaxing just what we needed for our weekend away. We would recommend this into anybody looking to get away.
Rooms were poorly decorated. Miss matched items. Sheets wouldnt stay on mattress. Pillows were flat. Food for breakfast was mostly store bought baked goods. Had a frozen waffle with either ham or scrapple. Plated with no extras. People who came after me only had scrapple for a choice. Not the homey, bed and breakfast feel. Differently in the business to make money!
First time staying at a B&B. We were disappointed. Carriage house room 14 was cold and drafty. Mattress had thick foam topper and some sag. No extra blankets or thermostat to adjust room temp. Towels and toiletries (soap and shampoo only) were low grade. No Wi-Fi in room; only available inside the Manor House on first floor. Breakfast served at 8:00 am. Basic store bought continental breakfast with daily hot item (pancakes or waffle), and coffee, tea, juice. Not too much that we liked about staying here other than meeting the other guests.
I have to agree with others. Avoide this place at all costs. Youre almost better off sleeping in your car. At least then youd have control of the temperature.1. Beds are very old and dont have any support.2. Bathrooms are small and dirty. Dont get me started of the bath towls.3. Breakfast was a joke. Ask to see the breakfast before you buy it. And definitely ask whats the hot break includes. After all, you do have to pay extra for that.4. Angela was/ is rude, nasty and over all a person youd wish you had never met.
Thank you, Angela. Lancaster County and Amish Country is a pretty cool spot. That said, finding the gems among the tourist kitsch can be impossibly challenging. Angela, Greystone Manors proprietor, was great! Without presumption or fanfare, she told us where to eat, where to drive, and where to walk. Her suggestions made all the difference in our visit. We didnt waste second doing anything we wished we had not done.
Greystone Manor B&B offers restaurant coupons as a part of your stay to have dinners locally. We used a $30 dated unexpired dinner coupon on a subsequent visit to the area and it was no good, already used somehow. VERY EMBARASSING!!! We brought that to the Owners attention at the B&B immediately and they didnt stand behind the coupon they gave us. We were told to call the supplier they got it from and complain. Wont be staying there anymore.
NEW OWNERS as of June 2022! Very recommended. Dont let the reviews from the previous management sway you. This was a fantastic experience. We will be back and we are excited to see the changes. New owner, Lonnie Kauffman, had literally just taken ownership of the property a week prior. We read reviews after booking and were unsure what to expect as the previous owners did not receive many good ones. With low expectations we walked up to the manor. We were surprised to hear of the ownership change, but the new owner was wonderful, accommodating and very hopeful for all the guests to have a better than expected experience. We were given our room in the carriage house. It appeared as though all rooms were filled last weekend. The room was dated, but clean and pleasant. Breakfast in the morning was wonderful. It was a hot breakfast made to our order. The breakfast was not an extra charge as it had been with the previous owners. The grounds need some work, as does a things around the home and the pool area. I do believe though by this time next year this bed & breakfast will be restored to its full beauty. If you are on the edge about staying here, do it. It really was a nice experience.

2022-03-08The pictures make it look so much nicer than it is. We arrived and saw tattered lawn furniture and cushions all over, an overflowing dumpster, a broken dresser outside the carriage house and when we walked in the main house it had a musty, moldy smell. Thank goodness we asked to see the room before we paid. The furniture was tattered and old, some had stains on it. We left. Did not stay the night. Possibly with upkeep and maintenance and some new furniture it would be a nice B&B.

2021-09-26Wow, what a lovely place this is. My girlfriend and I spent 1 night here and had a great experience! The breakfast was so good (I had a waffle and the apple cobbler) and the coffee alone was worth the extra 6$. We got a room on the top floor (room 7) that was spotless. The bed was comfy and the view was really beautiful. And the top it all off, we had a perfect window to view the sunrise :)And our favorite part - the garden! Wow is it amazing!Ive seen a lot of negative reviews on this place and I have no idea where they are coming from. Its a vintage b&b so it will have a vintage feel, maybe others werent expecting that. 5/5 stars, would stay again.

2022-03-08This place was so dilapidated and dirty. Just walking into the sign in office was disgusting. Debris and dried flower beads along with patio sets upturned with dirty stained pillows adorned the path! Inside we were offered a seat at the desk to sign in. We looked at the chairs that were stained and dirty and elected to stand! The smell was as bad as the dirt as it smelled of damp mold and musty air. We looked at our room before paying and after seeing it we decided to RUN.

2022-03-07Owner is not well suited for the hospitality business. We felt like she just wanted us out of her hair!!! No breakfast either. There were English muffins bagels, handful of grapes, instant oatmeal. When I asked if she would be serving breakfast, she said I have pancakes. Would Not Recommend!

2022-06-17I have no complaints. You are not paying Ritz Carlton price so don’t expect a 6 star suite.

2021-08-25It was the worst bed and breakfast I ever stayed in. The plants and flowers outside were absolutely beautiful, but inside was very old and musty smelling and it was a help yourself buffet breakfast with stale pastry. We stayed 4 days and each morning it was the same fruit and pastries from 3 or four days ago. The only protein was boiled eggs sitting under a heat lamp. If I go to Lancaster again I will stay at After eight B&B it is very beautiful and they get a fresh cooked breakfast every morning.

2021-10-18Let me start by saying that this B&B was a great deal for the location it is in. The main building is very charming with a beautiful garden area. We had a room in the caraige house which is a newer building that sits next to the main house. This building does not have the historical charm of the main house but we had a window that looked out at the main building so that is a great view that we would not have had otherwise. Check in was quick and easy. The owner was quite nice and explained how everything worked very well. Breakfast was from 7:30 to 9:30. The food is what I would call a continental breakfast. Assortment of pastries, fruit, oatmeal, bagles, coffee, tea, juices and a hot dish or two like apple cobbler and sausage casserole that were unexpected and quite good. The lady working in the breakfast area was not as nice and almost seemed annoyed that I was there but maybe she was just having a bad day. The stairs to our room were quite steep so be careful. The room itself was a pretty good size with two beds two living room type chairs a dresser with the TV on it and a night stand. Even tho the furniture looked to be antique it is not quite the quality pieces you normally see in places like this. They also did not match all that well. I think that matching bedspreads would have made the room a bit more cozy looking but not a big deal. The bathroom however looks like it was recently remodeled. There is no refrigerator or microwave in the room but there is a common area in the main building that has a small refrigerator a microwave and an ice machine. We were able to use the refrigerator to store the cold food we bought at the market then got ice for our cooler to transport it home. We enjoyed our stay here. Not the nicest accommodations we have stayed in in this area but I think its a good value for being so close to all the shopping areas. The room we were in is definitely past its prime and could use some sprucing up but its more than I expected for the price so I will consider Greystone an option for future visits.

2021-09-26The woman that checked us in Angela I believe made you feel as if you were wasting her time. She says that they do not do dinner but there is a sign out front offering a special for a room, dinner and breakfast for 99.99! I called her out on it and she stated that I already received the discount when I purchased the room through Booking.com so we cant get the dinner ??? But I paid the same price online?? Seams like you are treated different if you use 3rd party booking. You also have to pay extra for the breakfast $6.00 per person which I asked what was offered and she did not say what was offered on it until we payed ! Felt hustled at that point. It felt like she just did not feel like cooking, she seamed very lazy. The room was musty, the floor was wet, the room was hot, it had no phone, the bed was VERY hard and the chair in the room looked like they found it on the side of the road( stained and ripped up). Breakfast was a breakfast you would find at a mid-grade hotel. If you read all the reviews she has an excuse for every bad review and just follows it up with God bless you with an attitude like just dont come back if dont like it and Im not worried about your review! This was more of a low rate hotel stay and definitely not a B&B!
