We had no water, and therefore no heat. Elwood called and wanted to come out at night. We said we would be fine if they came by in the morning. They came by in the morning and pulled our well, replaced the wiring in the well and got our water back up and running in less than 24 hours from when we made the service call. Couldn’t be happier. Elwood and the guys from H.B. McClure are always courteous and professional. We are satisfied customers of H.B.M. and have a plumbing and an HVAC Gold shield service plan. H.B. McClure has been the best HVAC and plumbing company we have ever worked with, and we have had quite a few over the years.
Excellent job!!! Jason diagnosed everything 2 weeks ago and ordered parts, then Ken and Nick came out this morning and did a very clean efficient installation , Im very pleased with all the work that was done and will highly recommend to friends and family. Jeff Noel.
Update: system was recharged by less than a pound and working again. The installers that did mine no longer work at HB McClure, so seems my experience is an isolated issue. Crossing my fingers it holds this time. 🤞🤞Over a year after mini split ductless system install with 4 heads that cost over $16K, the system will not hold refrigerant. It stops working, I have to call and be inconvenienced twice (once to come out to charge system, second time to look for leaks). After 6+ attempts to seal the leaks over the last year, I am still dealing with this problem and all I have been offered is a 6 month extension on the warranty to “get me through the summer.” This system has never been installed correctly so that it holds the refrigerant reliably. I wish I had never contracted with them to get this system bc the technicians who did my installation did not do it right.
We had a really good experience with the service and installation. They were all very professional and timely. This place was a lot more expensive than I expected and didnt have an opportunity to price check due to the circumstances of not having heat,but the overall service was great.
These folks are very professional. They call back timely and keep appointments on time. They are thorough when at your home and respectful of you and your things. They explain what they found and provide options. Then they explain what they did to solve the problem, show you the bad part and what was wrong with the part. In my case a bad part caused another part to fail. They properly IDd the problem, diagnosed, overnighted the parts and repaired the next day. I have used these folks three times and would not hesitate to call again.
We have been customers of HB McClure for propane delivery for 3 years. We are on auto-pay and auto-delivery. They have taken our payments monthly for the entire 2021 calendar year but delivered no propane since this summer. They let us run out last night with temps down at 28 degrees. There was apparently a huge system glitch. They provided NO offer for free emergency propane delivery last night. Nor did they offer any sort of discount for our inconvenience and almost freezing last night. Disgusted. POOR customer service. Sitting here still very cold this morning.
The team at HB McClure is outstanding! We were without heat with a part that was hard to find. HB McClure when above and beyond to locate the part and have our heat restored in 3-days when it was originally estimated at 12-weeks to get the part!! THANK YOU for taking care of us!
A big shout out to HB McClure Company!We came home on Tuesday to discover our furnace stopped working. HB McClure installed our furnace a few years ago/services it yearly, so I called them to get a tech out to the house to see what was the issue.They scheduled a tech to come out on Wednesday (the following day), only to call me back about 45 mins later to say they could get a tech out the same day (Tuesday)! The tech shows up, figures out the issue in under 30 mins, and orders the part.On Wednesday I got a call from HB McClure saying the part was in and the tech would be at the house between 10:00-12:00 PM on Thursday (today). This morning the tech called me to tell me his arrival time...I have always been impressed with their customer service, and they didnt fail me this time. The fact that they called me back and fit us into the schedule, that they communicated with me when I can expect the part to be installed, and that the tech actually called to announce his arrival, this is why we continue to use them.So if you need furnace and/or AC help, seriously, call them!
We hired HB Home Team to install a complete new propane HVAC system where an old non working oil furnace and broken AC had been. They were one of two companies with similar price, others were higher. We chose them as we supported the employee owned model and i watched some of their videos about the company history. The person who came to quote was nice enough and got us a quote quickly. Their quote was not as detailed as the other company but the salesperson responded to follow up questions I asked. Overall they got the work done and were pleasant enough. However, there were a few things i did not like: when they arrived they spent some time complaining amongst themselves about the job, the salesperson and that it would take more than two days and that it had been incorrectly scheduled. They may have thought i could not hear them. They ran the solid ductwork directly below (as in right up against) the incoming house water supply line. Although they bought with them, for my project, solid duct for the entire basement they did not use it and ran flexible duct to half the basement (the coldest end) Overall they left me with the impression they were focused on how to get the job done in the least possible time rather than quality/details. Oh and having one of their team members phone go off repeatedly with an alert that was a recording of Im Donald Trump and i approve this message was inappropriate in my home. The work was completed in 2 days. The office people i spoke with via phone were great.
Elwood, and HB McClure as a whole, are amazing. Great people, competitive pricing and very responsive. Elwood had our washer and dryer set up redesigned, new water softener installed and a new 90 put in our shower. All of it was completed in 1 day and the work was perfectly completed. They have a customer for life here.
The company as a whole is amazing! Diane was phenomenal and I could never express my gratitude to the young man who even after being stung 4 times by yellow jackets, stayed and continued to work on our issue. This is a compassionate company and that’s rare these days.
Andy came out to our house to check a problem we were having with the outside unit of our heat pump. He was very polite, and was very knowledgeable of our system. He did several tests on the unit and verified his findings with his supervisor (Keith). Keith is very familiar with our unit since he has been our tech for a good many years. Andy shared his findings with us, and made arrangements for needed repairs to the unit. He was able to get the unit working properly for us to get heat. We really appreciate the help of all those involved at HB McClure in solving the problems we were having. Thank you for great service.
I called HB McClure after another company claimed they fixed the heat, but didnt (and were rude to boot). The service tech (Brian) was prompt and professional, diagnosed the actual issue, and explained it to me in clear but not condescending terms). He was able to return in less than a week to fix it after ordering the needed part. I couldnt be more pleased and will definitely use only them in the future.
We have been a customer of HB McClure service plans for just over 2 years now. Until this last visit we had no issues with either system. However, this time they indicated there was an issue with the AC unit. For starters they charged $98 for a part that was priced at no more than $5. They also stated that they had to put a dye in the system which would cost another $300 but would take 6 months to work its way through the system so another $80 would need to be spent for a service call for them to return. I was also informed that a new AC unit would cost 8k - 12k, after that I told them to hold off on doing anything further. I called in 2 guys that worked for UGI. They quickly diagnosed the problem had the faulty part replaced in less than 2 days. For a cost significantly lower than what HB McClure quoted. BUYERS BEWARE...The service plans are a joke...
I have a contract with HB MCCLURE to service my furnace, HVAC, hot water tank, and attic fan each year. The yearly service is always very good. The technicians are always professional. They always do a thorough job of checking and cleaning all equipment.But I was most impressed with more recent work. I need a new hot water tank. A technician was sent out yesterday within two hours after I call with my problem (No hot water). I was put in contact with the finance department the same day, who managed to secure financing for me today before noon, which was the morning after my call for help, and my hot water heater was installed the same afternoon, also financing was secured with no interest. Can not beat that.I believe this company really cares about its customers. I know I have been very satisfied with their services.
I was dreading this service call but I didn’t need to. The whole team was a joy to work with: courteous, patient, kind, informative, cheerful, helpful, knowledgeable, and even nice to my dog. A pre-call helped me to plan within the service timeframe...and the technician actually showed up timely!! Then, I was dreading the bill, but it was very reasonable, especially for same-day service. I could not have been more delighted with this experience, and I will definitely call again as well as sign up for the routine maintenance. Thank you!
This was my first experience with HB McClure. Both individuals who cleaned our dryer vent were professional and courteous. Everything was neat and clean before they left. They explained the service completed. I appreciate the care and service they provided my home. Great job!
HB McClure offers a great service-maintenance program. Our service tech, David, took great care to diagnose what was happening when our heat pump was malfunctioning, get it working again, and give us direction on future issues to address. We are very pleased with the time and care taken!
I called HB McClure because I wanted to upgrade my heating/cooling system. They were very prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. The furnace stopped working and there was a snow storm. I was scheduled for Wednesday but there were able to come on Tuesday. They showed me and explained everything. They showed the broken part to my 5 year old son and explained how it did not work. They were awesome. They also wore a mask and booties to not track snow and dirt around the house. They just did an awesome job and were very efficient. Thank you very much. I will probably be seeing if I can get on a maintenance schedule with them. Thanks for getting my heat going after 3 days of space heaters.
Heather was most helpful in setting up the appointment for service on the furnace heating problem.Steve was professional and extremely capable in diagnosing and resolving the problem. His friendly approach and willingness to explain what he was doing was greatly appreciated.All in all we are most pleased with the McClure CO.
I’ve had 2 experiences with HB McClure in the past 6 months, and was very satisfied with the first, and not so much with the second. The first time they came out at 2am Christmas morning to replace a failed sump pump that resulted in an inch of water in our basement. They were the only company out of the 5 we called to promptly return our call and had a tech to our house in short order. The tech was professional, and had the pump replaced in a matter of minutes. He then also stayed until the bulk of the water was out of the basement.A few months later, we had contacted HB about a battery backup sump pump system with WiFi so I could monitor the backup system through an app on my phone and get text message alerts anytime the backup system kicks on. I talked to a few individuals at HB on the phone, and was provided a quote with very minimal details about what I was getting. Since I could not tell from the quote exactly what I was getting, I had requested an estimator to come out and provide a quote in person. The estimator Travis was professional, and built a custom quote for us since we just had a new primary pump installed. We agreed on the price, and they came back a few weeks later to do the install. This is where my dissatisfaction began. The tech completed the work, and as he was walking me through how the backup system works, I asked about how the WiFi feature works, to which he responded the system he installed was not the WiFi version. Apparently there was a miscommunication and the wrong products were brought to my home. I understand things like this happen, but if I wouldn’t have asked the question, I would have gotten a system that did not have the most important feature (WiFi). The same tech then came back a few days later to install the correct system, and again during the walkthrough I asked how the WiFi works. This time, his response was “I’ve never set up one of these with WiFi before, so I’m not sure how that is done,” and then handed me the setup instructions. So I essentially had to figure out how to connect the system to my WiFi myself. I also had to figure out by myself how to sync the system with the mobile app. For the price I paid for the system, I would have thought that HB McClure would have sent a tech that had previous experience with setting up the WiFi portion of these backup systems so that it could have been done by them as part of the install.
Service response was excellent...same day of call. Heather was quick and informed me that I would not be responsible for any charges since my call was related to a previous service call 3-4 weeks prior. Brian our service tech was very efficient spending over 2 hours going over both the outdoor and indoor units of our heat pump and explaining everything in detail. He also provided me with information essential to my decision relating to estimates for eventual replacement of my 20 year old heat pump. A great customer service oriented team that will be part of my decision-making relating to replacement of my split system.
HB McClure has fixed my a/c, replaced toilets and a hot water heater over the years. They always do a great job. It is a very trust worthy company. I will always call them for electrical and plumbing issues. I have seen their service trucks at a lot of my neighbors homes too. Great service with good pricing.
HB McClure has been maintaining and repairing our heating and A/C for several years now. We have always been pleased with their technicians, who provide prompt and friendly service. Their prices are reasonable as well. Would definitely recommend. Also, their home heating oil prices are very competitive, and they offer smart pricing to protect from spikes in oil prices.
Our furnace hadnt been serviced in quite awhile. Ben took on the challenge, showed my where the problem was, made the repair and suggested 2 fixes where the old equipment was failing. We went ahead with the corrections and now will be able to sleep better at night knowing it is done right!Ben answered all my questions patiently and thoroughly, in a way that was understandable to a non-furnace person.We will now go with the annual maintenance program to keep the equipment in tip top shape. Josh B was very professional, well qualified for the job, polite, punctual within the hour, wore coverings on his shoes to protect my carpet, very knowledgeable,, and fixed the problem of water leak by installing a larger expansion tank. I was very happy with Andy D who was the first technician to my home last year. He was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable as well. I would highly recommend H B McClure and will be calling them for all my HVAC issues.
One of their technicians came to my house to fix my furnace. He worked in a logical and professional manner and was very personable while doing it. I had maintenance checkups on Heat, a/c and plumbing scheduled this morning. Both techs arrived right on time, were super polite, kept me informed of their activity and presented the invoices to me with explanations. Both are knowledgeable and exhibit great customer care and service.
HB McClure technician serviced our water conditioning system and water heater, and also installed a new kitchen faucet. I cant say enough good things about Elwood. He was on time and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He answered all of my questions (and I ask alot!).
Complete water heater replacement. In spite of unexpected issues, Nate - our tech - was spot on, professional, and worked with us to make sure we got the best deal with the needed service. The entire team was professional, worked hard to make sure the job was done correctly, saved us from potential disaster, and were thankful they came to our rescue. Will most definitely consider HB McClure our go-to for all of those home repair needs in the future. Keep up the great work.
I will definitely use HB McClure again in the future. I had them come out to do some service/maintenance on my furnace and air conditioner. The service technician was friendly and helpful. The price was very reasonable (much better than their competitors prices). The service tech went above and beyond and even took a quick look at my hot water heater (which I didnt realize you could request service for as well).
H.B. McClure has performed several big jobs for me (Ductless AC install and hot water tank install). They can be counted on to do the job right and stand by their work. The techs are nice and know their stuff. I also like that this company is Employee Owned. I will continue to use them to maintain my very essential home systems.
Jake and Dale replaced our entire duct system. They were professional, friendly, and worked in a timely fashion. They kept us informed and answered our questions.The price was fair for the scope of work done. We will hire HB Mcclure again for any of our future HVAC needs!
My wife called earlier this afternoon and we were able to have a technician come out the same day. Earl was polite and professional. He addressed our concerns and was thorough in his check and since he couldn’t resolve the issue right away, he scheduled for a follow up.
I had a new furnace and A/C unit installed last November 2017 . I was very pleased with their professionalism and knowledge. The price was reasonable plus they were able to offer me rebates at that time. There was a minor correction to the system that had to be made this summer. Customer service was very quick to follow up; overall, I was very satisfied with HB McClure.
Additional work was suggested at my regular maint. appointment & quoted at that time. Very quickly, they were able to get the parts and schedule the work. On my scheduled date: they were on time, professional, tidy [they really cleaned up afterwards], and I only paid what I was originally quoted. I will continue to call them for my service issues, for sure.
Your Tech Bryan Nickel was outstanding! His maintenance and inspection of my heat pump was very thorough and he found a problem before it became a serious issue. He also clearly explained the issue in easy to understand terms which I could understand. Great service overall!.
Service techs from McClure are routinely excellent. Appointments are made efficiently, they show up on time with advance call, use protective booties every time they walk in the door, and take the time to explain in detail what they find. You might be able to find another HVAC service provider that is a bit cheaper, but youd be taking a risk on quality of service. I know when I use these guys theyre going to do quality, reliable work.
Brandon did not disappoint. He was very polite and friendly. Always feel our needs are accomplished by having H B McClure handle our issues. Everyone who has done work for us over 30+ years has been very knowledgeable and explained issues to us. We always recommend H B McClure to friends and neighbors and strangers! Our technician Eric W was awesome! My wife and I used a private contractor to do some plumbing work in the past, and unfortunately, he didn’t install everything correctly... so Eric fixed his mistakes and then some! He was polite, professional, and very knowledgeable! Needless to say, we won’t be using anyone but HB McClure for our plumbing needs in the future!
I can’t really rate the service because I never got a call back. I called hb on Friday night, gave them all my info about my ac not working. It’s Sunday morning and I haven’t heard anything back! Thank goodness I called hl bowman on Saturday and Within 3 hours my ac was up and running. I guess don’t call hb McClure if it’s an emergency because they will not call back. Disappointing.
Had a plumbing issue related to a toilet mount. Tech was scheduled for the very next day. Arrived a few minutes early but called first. Kept a good distance and wore protective gear (as required due t Covid-19). Diagnosed and fixed problem very quickly and installed durable materials so repair will last. Dwight Wolf was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Recently had service done on my heatpump and my oil fired hot water heater. Called the day before to confirm appointment. Follow up call the following day to let me know that they had a cancelation and offered me an earlier appt time if I was interested. Tech arrived promptly, very friendly and knowledgeable. Asked if I had any concerns and I informed him that I had a couple times I had to reset my fuel fired system, but it has been running fine since. He took the time check parameters of one of my sensors to find out that it was above normal ranges. He informed me of the cost and that he carried the part I needed in his service truck. Highly recommended. Great job
I got a new furnace and heat pump installed. It took longer than anticipated due to some faulty equipment but they got the replacement installed next day. They strive for excellence and I couldnt be happier. They were a little more expensive than other places but were honest with their recommendations and exceeded my expectations. They replaced old wiring and strategically placed everything for my convenience (filters, uv bulb) even though it made their job a little more complicated. The quality cant be beat. Im very happy I went with them for this project.
I have an old house with the original 1935 boiler and radiator heat. I chose this company specifically for their experience with my specific heating system, versus a regular HVAC system maintenance company. I also dont mind paying for quality service. Ive had them come out to inspect and prep my system for the winter season, and Ive had two repairs done to my satisfaction. And one was a late night (10 p.m.) call... with their maintenance program, I wasnt charged any emergency or overtime hour charges. Im very happy with their services and highly recommend them.
We had H.B. McClure service, clean and check-out our gas log fireplace. The service technician, Martin Deimler, was very courteous, thorough and professional. He took time to explain various aspects of the gas log operation, set up the remote operation, and provided valuable advice. He did an excellent job! I also purchased a quality carbon monoxide detector from him during the service appt. We are very pleased with the service provided.

The sales guy was excellent, knew his stuff and made his upsell offers without being pushy about it. I was never left waiting for a call or email back for more than a day. I got 2 other quotes and both were significantly higher. The install team showed up on time at 7am and was finished installing the furnace by 2:30. 10/10 would choose again!
Everyone at HB McClure have gone above and beyond for my family & I. They have always been there when needed no matter the time of day. The techs explain everything in great detail & offer help where needed. The office staff has always been kind, caring, & helpful in answering any questions & working with me on my bill.
I called with a no heat problem around 8 am. Tech came around noon. He found a problem almost immediately but also realized there were several problems, some that existed since the furnace was installed. He spent about 3 hours testing, adjusting, and replacing parts. His goal was to be sure everything was correct with the furnace. I was very impressed that he spent so much time on an unscheduled emergency call. Very pleased with the service.

The technicians have always been on time, professional, and knowledgeable.Recently, weve started making improvements to the house with HB McClure. Thus far weve purchased a water softener, RO system and a new Geothermal HVAC system (just installed today). In addition, weve already made arrangements to add a UV system and add a few plumbing fixtures. We plan on having them come in and install a propane tank at our house at some point later this year. We just havent finalized those arrangements yet.Having had experience with some other local places, I can confidently say... HB McClure isnt the cheapest place in town. But, they are the best.
I received 3 estimates with McClure being the final estimate, Greg D was the technician he was very knowledgable and gave me options something the other 2 companies did not. As a busy person I still had questions after he left I contacted him and he answered my questions which sealed the deal.The install team, Dan and apologize I cant remember the other techs name, were great, hard workers, got to my house and went to work installed in one day.I am very happy with the job.I had 1 snafu ~ however, it was resolved by a great guy named Matt.I called the office today and spoke with Coryenne (I hope I spelled her name correct) she was very professional and extremely pleasant which in this day and age is Very Refreshing!Kudos Guys and Gal!!!To wrap up my review, this is a Great Company and Fairly priced they have earned my trust, I totally recommend HB McClure!Thank you!Linda S.
Needed a new toilet placed in my master bathroom. Called them on a Friday and it was installed on the following Tues. Quick response to my initial call, the technician arrived on time, completed then task in less than an hour, with removal and disposal of my old toilet and installation of the new one,, he cleaned the area after he was done. Perfect!
I have been a client of H B McClure for 37 years and have been pleased and impressed with their professional service and follow up in every phase of my HVAC and fuel oil needs here at my residence and other properties that I have owned.I am appreciative to H B McClure and all of the service technicians and those who answer the phones always expertly place my call where it needs to go and to the oil delivery man, Calvin Dimpsey, who really knows how to drive that truck and has never spilled a drop of oil in his 22 years of delivering my oil.H B McClure just installed my new Carrier Heat Pump and Furnace and it is perfect, a work of art.Service Technician Mike Boyles, along with all of H B McClure technicians I have met over the years, must be the best in the business.
I used Derek F. from McClure Heating and Air Conditioning on Monday June 12. I was very happy with Dereks knowledge, and the quick service I received. My Air Conditioning went out during the day when we were nothome. When we came home the temperature was up to 87 on our second floor. I called McClure about 3:15, by 6:30 Derek arrived.The best part was, because I had our Heating and Air Conditioning serviced about 3 weeks prior, by McClure, I was not charged for this service call. The air is now working fine. NOW THATS A WELL RUN COMPANY.

Scheduled service for today and no one arrived during the schedule visit, between 10-12. First time using this company but very disappointed. Terrible customer experience. There was no phone call or email indicating a change of service. Based on this interaction, I do not recommend their service.
The job was done very timely. Technician checked it day I called and repaired it next day. His name was Corey and he was very pleasant, explained things to me, had a nice sense of humor and was very professional. The reason I am rating as I did is because I thought it was extraordinairly expensive. The furnace is only six years old. The diagnosis was 20 minutes and the job was less than 1 hour. Otherwise, I would have given Corey 5 stars.
HB McClure replaced a heating unit for us in a very professional and efficient manner. The team arrived right on time and finished before expected. They were very clean and left the area in the same condition they found it. I was pleased and would not hesitate to recommend them.
Josh, was right on time. He did everything he could to avoid a mess inside my home. He found a sewer drain clean out outside and used that to enter the sewer line. It took a while it had not been opened in over 50 plus years. Found the problem. But have to come back two days later with a bigger machine. Kept me updated all along the way of his progress and showed me what he was seeing on the camera. 2 days before Christmas. What a messy job. Josh deserves a raise. Lets hope its not too expensive to fix. But I want it fixed right the first time.Josh agreed.

My A/C unit and furnace are running quieter and working at a higher efficiencynow. Would recommend HB McClure for your heating and cooling needs.
I was impressed with the professionalism and quick response from McClure. The technician was clearly a pro ( 11 years, he told me) and quickly isolated the issue and fixed it . I know this is not always easy to do( we have had other leaks that lasted much longer) but I am glad this one was an easy fix. Scheduling was easy and well done.
Martin was very patient and helpful, he gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision on service for my AC system, and answered every question in terms I could grasp.All maintenance work was done showing respect for my home and possessions.It is a pleasure to work with such a true professional. Terrible company run by crooks. Had a leaking zone valve on our furnace; dude from H.B. Mclure comes out and gives a three thousand dollar quote. Claimed you couldnt buy that kind of valve anymore because they dont make them and the job would take all day to drain lines, plumb in new valve, re-fill lines... blah blah blah. Tried to up-sell me some fancy new valve.So I googled the brand and model number of the valve they supposedly dont make anymore and guess what? You can still get them. They are plentiful. And for 200 bucks and one hour of labor I did it myself. No leaks, no issues. Didnt take all day and the exact same manufacturers model was shipped to my house within a week of ordering it online.You cant get those anymore, eh?Ill tell you what cant get anymore, HB Mclure - my business.
I had posted a review before, but think it must have gone to the outer limits I wanted to say how very appreciative I am of your excellent service. After 3 carbon monoxide scares, we contacted you and the young man who came,(on time) was so interested in helping us. He cleaned our furnace, replaced some parts,changed the filter, and we are good to go.Our furnace never worked better. The BIG difference is..we are spending less money on oil because the furnace is running so well. As corny as this may sound, you guys saved us, and we thank you!!!! In the future you will be my ONLY company to call.
A year ago my heat went out and I called HB McClure. They came out immediately but were unable to provide me any assistance as my heat pump was completely frozen. They charged me $99 for a 5 minute visit that provided me zero help or answers. They told me they would need to come back in a few days once the pump thawed out. Few days later another trip back, and another $99 gone, and they still couldnt figure out what was wrong and told me I probably needed to replace the unit entirely and gave me a quote for it. So -$200 and still no heat or answers other than a guess, and an incredibly expensive guess at that. I called another company called Green Mechanical out just to double check, they came out for free, spent 10 minutes, discovered some part was lose, tightened it up and bam I had heat again. Leaving this review because now my AC is busted a year later and I tried to call my friends at Green but it turns out McClure bought them out so I have no choice now. Goodbye to my money.
Went to have our tanks that we own filled, and after willing to pay the disconnect fee and for the pressure test we were told that they would not come out because the tech did not want to go through the trouble of having to disconnect the tanks and pressure test it after. Then the rep tried to sell us their tanks because it would just be easier.
Nothing like suddenly having no heat or hot water the day before a polar vortex comes along with a snow storm! I called in a panic and Heather was absolutely fantastic. She was kind, patient, caring and helpful. She sent someone over right away and it wasn’t long before we had heat and hot water again. The guy who came to help was also super kind, knowledgeable and professional. If you need an expert, especially in an emergency, definitely call HB McClure!
I contacted HB, inquiring about a service contract. First the lady who answered the phone was very helpful and answered all my questions. Got my scheduled for an appt.Josh Riley showed up at my house n was very professional, even putting bootys on to walk through my house. Figuring this was gonna be a quick easy cleaning, since I just bought my house, I started asking questions. He answered all of them with no hesitation n seemed very honest about everything.Thank you for being forward n very professional Josh.I recommend HB to everybody. This is the only company I will use for my HVAC needs.
After only 4 years my Bock hot water heater started leaking. I have a water softener but that didnt seem to help much. I just found out that even though I had a premier service plan the whole time, they never checked the anode rods, which were completely corroded away. They would not work with me on the replacement which was no longer under warranty and wouldnt even agree to checking the anode rods from now on. What they did do is choose to drop me! Think very carefully about getting associated with this very predatory company. They are only about making money not serving customers.
I really wanted to support a small local business, but honestly...they are pricy, constantly reschedule, talked us into a hybrid technology that constantly breaks down and they give me a hard time about covering the installation of the new replacement units.Additionally, I keep taking off work and while they are nice folks...they just cant deliver service they want to. Everytime I have an appointment and take off work, they reschedule me at the last minute because they have another emergency. I feel like I cant get service unless I have an emergency and my boss is angry that I keep taking off work. When we do have an emergency they charge through the roof and bump us despite having an upgraded service package.When they send techs...they are nice, but are never sure what they are working on and arent familiar with the hybrid appliances. I cant wait for our contract to end.
I called McClure for service on my HVAC in Camp Hill. McClure comes out, says the system needs to be replaced for $15K. They even argued with me how the system was beyond repair. I got a second opinion. Repaired with $20.00 start/run capacitor. Beware.....their service guys want to sell you new systems. Not fix. They are a big company ponzi scheme!
They service equipment just enough to make it work for a short time frame so that you have to keep them coming in to repair things. had issues with their service both at work and residential. Would not recommend them to anyone... Sitting at work right now for the second day straight with no air in 100 degree weather... they stated that they would be in to make repairs in the morning and never showed up. This seems to be a common occurrence each year.
Service has been good but my question to this company would be... “Why are your oil prices ALWAYS higher than anyone else’s? It’s a big market place with stiff competition and seems HB McClure doesn’t feel the need to compete. I’m looking at SOC for my next fuel order.
This company did the plumbing and heating for my new home. They designed the heat ducts in the basement such that one of 2 windows was blocked in the downstairs family room. When we moved into our home 3 of 4 toilets leaked and 2 ran continuously. The toilet in the master bath was not useable for 2 weeks because it leaked and needed replaced. The heating system failed after we were in the home for 3 days because no one thought to change the furnace filter. The gas stove wouldnt light because the gas wasnt turned on behind the stove. I could go on and on - but the absolute last straw is yesterday I received a certified letter from their attorney that they are putting a lien on my property because of a dispute between them and my builder. Hows that for customer satisfaction?
Worst experience ever. I got on the phone with a sales guy there and told him I needed an estimate for plumbing work. He replied that it would be $99. After a little discussion about this being a bit steep (most are free) he explained it was because they had to send someone out to assess etc. I agreed. Well, a guy comes out to look at everything and says hell get back to me with an estimate. I say, ok. I then receive an emailed bill from HB McClure for $177. I reply that I wont pay that and that I agreed to $99. I then get a call from Todd who tells me that there has been a mistake made and that they do estimates for free. Ok, thats fine. He then says hes going to bill me the $99 because they sent a plumber out. ALL I NEEDED WAS AN ESTIMATE! It should have been free. I was never told this on the first call with these people. I WAS TOLD ESTIMATES ARE $99, PERIOD BY THE FIRST GUY! THEN IM TOLD THEYRE FREE! AND THEY STILL WANT ME TO PAY $99 FOR WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A FREE ESTIMATE! I would recommend no one use these people. They dont even know what their own services are and what they charge/dont charge.EDIT: I should add: The plumber (who didnt need to come out) was a great guy. Very cool to talk to and very nice.
We have them on a preventive maintenance schedule and recently we called them about a problem. They quickly came out to fix, $3,300 later they called it a day. They need to have smart phone rules. To pay a person for playing on his phone goes hard against my thinking.
Brian Withstood severe cold weather (4 degrees) to perform service on two of my heat pumps, taking the time to perform a complete examination and recommendations. He was fastidious in cleaning out the drain tube from my humidifier which was nearly totally blocked from sludge.
I am giving them a single star simply because I cannot get a receipt from them. The outside faucet was replaced ($330). Was told my receipt would be mailed. No receipt. Have called twice. Both times were told it would be mailed but still no receipt. This time I am writing for the receipt. HB McClure Company, will you please mail me the receipt.

2022-01-23I will start by saying the technicians that serviced our unit were great. Professional, respectful and on time. With that said, overall the company did not gain my trust nor respect for transparency. My unit went down in freezing temps and they did send a technician (first time customer). They were open about the charges at this first call - $165 to pull in my driveway and $90 every 30 minutes on site. I respected that openness on cost and paid to have my unit looked at. They could not fix it that evening and had to get a part. We received a quote of $1700 the next day, tech came to my place and fixed the system in less than an hour (was told could take 2-3 hours) and my quote stood at $1700. When I requested an itemized bill, I was told they couldn’t provide one. I found this unusual as I’ve always been able to see what parts cost (My cost, not theirs - respect there is always a markup, that’s business) and the hourly rate for the work. Three phone calls later, I’m told by the manager, they can’t provide me a breakdown but would give me a $200 refund. After 20 minutes of back and forth to get what charges added up to make the final cost minus a $200 refund, he sighed and threw out a number of $275/hour for labor; that is higher than the emergency rate! And he still stated HB McClure couldn’t provide me a copy of a bill showing parts and labor. I have no clue what I paid for overall from an itemized bill but I certainly can say I’ve used other companies that do provide a true Statement of Work. It is disappointing as they have good reviews and I was hoping to establish a relationship but they can’t be financially trusted. A business should always be able to share an itemized bill.

2022-07-11Dewy was very professional and knowledgeable. He helped me understand that steps in the process and explained what he was doing while he diagnosed the units. Brent was the dispatcher and he was prompt with calling me to let me know that my appointment was bumped up and we were next in line because Dewy was close by. Overall great experience and I look forward to working with HB in the future.

2022-06-03A team of three young men showed up on time at 6am and worked hard until they finished at around 1pm. We had an entire heat pump system replaced, including crawling in the crawl space to replace the lines. These guys were a pleasure to work with! They were positive and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing. They worked quickly and neatly and cleaned up completely when they were done. I would definitely recommend McClure based on todays experience.

2022-02-22I would say that those delivering the propane are excellent. They always leave a receipt of what they delivered securely on the door.The reason for the four stars instead of five has nothing to do with their delivery service. It is their customer service in which case I would probably give them the one missing star. But thats another story for another day! I like the old customer service when you could have an intelligent conversation with someone and not get the feeling that youre being shafted!

2022-02-01I can’t quite remember who came to install our heating unit, but all 3 were extremely helpful, informative, and professional. The work was flawless and you couldn’t even tell they were there. I live on White Dogwood Drive in Etters. If you could find out who the 3 young men that helped us I would like their supervisor to recognize them.

2022-02-14We needed an emergency plumber on Super Bowl Sunday. Matt showed up in 20 minutes and fixed our plumbing issue in about an hour and a half and was great to work with. We would definitely recommend HB McClure and use them again.

2022-03-24Another great experience with the folks from HB McClure - highly recommend them...on time, thorough, great service, personable and very good at explaining the scope of work - highly, highly professional and polite too. I cant say enough good things. this is the second time I have used HB McClure and I will continue to entrust them with any other issues with my home, in fact I decided to invest in their membership program for my HVAC units and will have them come back soon for a plumbing inspection on a new home I recently purchased. 2022-02-18Ive learned that technician competency is probably the most important thing when considering HVAC. Its for that reason that I call HB McClure when I need service. Stephen was on time, extremely knowledgeable, professional and trustworthy. Very competent. Heating system was fixed that day. Great service.
