Loved this resort! Only reason I didnt give the 5th star was bc we had a few things broken in our cabin...no ceiling fan,the last family broke it! The 2nd burner on our stove top did not work, kind of hard only cooking w/1 burner. Absolutely recommend for any age child!!
Other than the pool hours being so short, the burnt picnic table and all of the broken glass, metal and trash that was left by previous campers, I think this place was great! We LOVED the freight trains!! Our site was right against the fence and we loved hearing them! (We do have a camper with AC running at night though so I am sure a lot of tent/pop up campers would probably not share our enthusiasm because there are a lot of them). I wish the ivy on the fences wasn’t so thick so we could have seen them better!! We had no issues with our site size and were able to back in with no issues (with a 30ft camper, that’s not always the case). We had no issues with noise. Everyone near us was quiet, respectful and friendly!! Our whole family loved the arcade!! It was clean and very well maintained! Actually, everything was clean and well maintained!! We weren’t huge fans of Hershey park itself but would definitely not hesitate to camp here again!
This is a nice clean family-friendly camping resort in a great location with friendly staff. There is a nice camp store, game room, two playgrounds, bathroom facilities, and pool onsite. There is a bus stop right at the campground with a free shuttle that takes you to the popular Hershey attractions. We stayed in the carousel circle area. This is the pull-through classic RV park section of the campground with full hookups. The sites are a little tight here, but its all wooded, which is more than I can say for most RV parks. If I had to do it over again, I would have stayed in Midway Meadows or Pioneer Heights, which have sites with more room/privacy, though where we stayed was still very good! There are also plenty of tent sites with and without hookups.I had two gripes about the place, though they were minor. First, there is a parking lot right at the entrance to Carousel Circle camping area. This parking area is incredibly poorly placed, as it blocks the entrance to Carousel Circle. The way in which the campground is set up, you must make a u-turn from the main entrance to get into Carousel Circle. If the parking lot is empty, this is no issue. However, if the lot of full, it makes getting into Carousel Circle difficult, especially for the larger rigs (and this is the larger rig camping area). I watched time and again people struggle to get around the parked cars into their campsites here. This really should be redesigned. Our other gripe was their pool closing. We were there in mid-September, a week after Labor Day. The weather was unseasonably warm, with temps approaching the 90s. It was during the RV show, and the place was packed. Theres no reason they couldnt have kept the pool open with the weather as warm as it was, and plenty of people to take advantage of it. And for the cost of a site during the RV show, the pool should have been open, weather cooperating. This being said, we still give it five stars, and will surely camp here again.
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING A MUST STAY!!!My husband and I and two children had prior reservations at another different campsite, the day before they emailed us they were canceling our reservation due to overbooking we were left last minute scrambling with Two crying children trying to find something last minute! May I mind you this was my husband and children’s very 1st camping trip. I was devastated, but THANK GOODNESS FOR HERSHEY CAMPGROUND! I called Hershey campgrounds the night before it completely in tears seeing if they had anything available. From the moment I got on the phone with Hershey receptionist she was amazing. Not only did she calm me down she gave me reassurance that Hershey would make sure they would help us the best they could and make my children happy. Sure enough they had a campsite available last minute she was Such a pleasure and helpful. Needless to say the campground that I visited as a child was still what I remembered extremely clean family oriented and the staff was beyond friendly and amazing! I TRULY THANK YOU Hersheypark CAMPGROUND from the bottom of my heart and especially as a mother for making my children’s first camping trip and my husbands one of the best trips they’ve ever had! We will forever remember how amazing our experience was staying at your campground. You are truly the sweetest place on earth and we look forward to making many more memories at your campgrounds in the future. 🤎
Our original camping trip plans got ruined last minute which left me scrambling for plans the day before to try and not upset a 8 & 7 y/o. I called and spoke to Ashley who was nothing but wonderful in assisting me with a site. This was my first time camping alone with just my family and she was nice enough to help me secure a spot(the LAST one for the weekend I might add!) and explain some things to me, reassuring me that it’s not as intimidating as it sounds.Once we got here, the man checking in was very nice. We got to our site which was perfect! Near bathrooms, and in our opinion, the best spot we probably could have gotten. The bathroom and showers were clean for this type of environment, the store was so convenient, playground and basketball court were a hit with the kids and overall was a great experience. This has shown us as first time campers that this is something we can definitely do more often! We will be camping more and will for sure be back at Hershey Camping Resort!
Wow! We had perhaps the best camping site in the entire resort, with a nice portion of the shore of the river almost entirely to ourselves. The dogs loved running along the waters edge just a few steps away from our campsite, watching the ducks float by. There were plenty of other critters moving through at night which only added to the adventure sitting along the waters edge by our fire pit. This site was nice and wide with more than enough room to roam. All the staff were really nice, super friendly, and very helpful. I cant say enough about what a great camping resort this is and how happy I was with my visit. I absolutely recommend camping at the Hershey park camping resort and hope to get this same exact camp site every time. Thank you Hersheypark Camping Resort for giving our family such wonderful memories!
Our first site was 22 up on the hill right up against the very busy double freight train railroad tracks. If you love trains and want to feel the vibrations, book a site near the tracks. The sites were modestly spacious and had grass on 3 sides of the RV. Bath/laundry services were great. Change machines too! Due to hurricane Ida, the park employees were concerned for our safety as it was inevitable that the creek would flood and we would not be able to cross the bridge for days at best. So they moved us to Carousel Circle. We had a blast floating down the street in front of our RV. Fortunately, it never reached the RV. They said this is the most rain they have seen in many years! John and Ben from maintenance were amazing to help trouble shoot my waste hose issue as layout of mine and a few neighbors lots had our hoses draining uphill at 1-3” grade. John was so gracious, he let me borrow his personal gutters to create an elevated gully to drain our tanks. Ben had to remove the excessively tall adapter flap from our dump port at our site to bring it down to ground level. Everyone at the park has been more than willing to do what needs to be done to make our stay as enjoyable as possible! Big huge THANK YOU to John! You are a back saving lifesaver! Heidi from GA
Been to Hershey park campground many times, camping & in their cabins, past two years big difference, we went to our camp site , dirty, trash in our fire pit, bathroom dirty, cabins never clean bugs in the bathrooms I scrubbed the bathroom floor it was black biggest thing NO lights at the cabins to see where your walking, tripped over a stump on the driveway no lighting at all, really getting bad.
My family and I spent this past weekend here and it was amazing! We brought our camper and had plenty of room on the site. Plus, the site and bathrooms were so clean! The campground staff was super pleasant and helpful too! The campgrounds location was less than 5 minutes to all Hershey attractions, which made our trip even easier.Thank you Hershey park campground for a great weekend!!
We have stayed at this campground many times prior to this. Last year many services were unavailable due to COVID and we totally understood. They were clearly trying to do the best they could. This year this is our second stay and most likely our last. The last time our site was muddy and kinda small but it was okay. We spent most of the weekend with family a few sites away. This time we were just planning a quiet get away. Our site is so small we can’t set up our outdoor work table and their picnic table. When we do our table is under our neighbors slide! And the fire ring, better not have a big fire or someone is losing a trailer. We are literally packed in like sardines and this site is not large enough for our unit. It is a shame because we truly enjoyed this place. Somewhere along the line they have lost the leadership that looks at what rigs are appropriate for what site. There staff is friendly enough but this isn’t camping anymore. It’s like living in row homes without a yard!
I have been here on and off for the past 20 years, but camping with my son made it even more special. The staff were nice and informative. The pool was clean, as were the bathrooms. The showers on the other hand were a little gross...always wear flip flops on the shower..lol. The grounds were clean and well-maintained. The playground was nice too. The laundromat was a life saver because it had rained and our clothes and towels got wet. Will continue to be a returning customer for years to come.
We stayed here 3 nights and visited Hersheypark for two days. There is a train that runs beside the campgrounds. It woke me up briefly each night. We run out A/C or fan at night in our camper so that probably helped. If you are in a tent I’m sure you will hear it loud and clear. The campground has a free shuttle to the park. You can get in the park an hour early. I think only Candymonium and a few small rides are open for the early hour. Otherwise, you can sit by the barricades to be ahead of the crowd to access the water park! We stayed at the park most the day so, we didn’t take advantage of amenities at the campground. Back-in spots are tight and if a neighbor isn’t parked properly it can cause some difficulties getting in your spot. We arrived early and were able to access our spot and then head to the park! Fahrenheit is the best coaster. The lines get long so, ride it early!!! Buy the refillable cup! Or, if you like water they will give you free full size cups of ice water! Just ask. Chocolate World is free to enter. There is a short tour and a huge store. All the experiences inside are a fee.
Our first time staying in the campground and the kids had a great time! Shuttle service back and forth to the park was excellent even with our 1yr old twins, their huge stroller and the 11 and 4 yr old kids. The only disappointment was the arcade and store closing for a staff meeting 2 hours before check out. What were we supposed to do with the kids as we yell and curse as we get the camper ready to leave!!!???This will not deter us from coming back though!!!
Wonderful campground! Offered a great deal for military families :) they even gave my husband a giant Hershey bar that said thank you for your service when we checked in during memorial day weekend.+Pools were beautiful and lifeguarded.+The tent areas were clean and level.+Primitive sites had soft grass instead of pads+Free parking at Hershey park, as well as early admission-The only con was the trains nearby (not the campgrounds fault of course!) We noticed it the first night but everyone was so tired after that it didnt bother us at all :p Just bring earplugs if youre a light sleeper.
My daughter 13 months old was transported to Hershey Medical Center by ambulance Monday morning we were currently camping in Gettysburg PA at the time my son and I packed up our fifth wheel headed to Hershey. We Dropped our camper off at the campground And paid for one night The next day I returned and explained to them the situation and they allowed us to keep the camper there for additional three days hooked up to power so our food did not spoil in our fridge for absolutely free. There are still good people in this world and this campground Help out on my family when we where in need a special thank to the manager Ashlie and Brian we will be booking a trip to come see you guys next year I’ve always wanted to spend the night there at least I camper was able too you guys are great from the Fentress family
We met up with friends and stayed for a weekend! The grounds are well kept and the showers/bathrooms were very clean and well maintained! Also, for staying at the campground you get great deals on tickets to Hershey Park and early admission into the park as well as busses that run to and from the park throughout the day.. We loved it here and are already planning to go back!
Stayed in the Lazy River Rest section with a tent and I do not recommend this section or campground at all for tent camping. We looked around and there are very few sites where you arent elbow to elbow with your neighbor. I purposely picked this area because the sites were supposed to be larger and we had to park our cars side by side and jam one tent up against the treeline to fit two tents and have any space. Kids ran through our site until late in the night and the train blasted its horn while it passed, for what seemed to be every hour, and was extremely loud. Our fire pit was no more than 6 feet from the neighbors tent, which I personally find to be risky and unsafe. I have stayed in the cabins here before and they are slightly better if you are going to Hershey park but DO NOT tent camp or you will have 0 privacy and sleep.
The full hookups are pretty tight, choose carefully. We came late on Labor Day and didnt realize that the pool would be closed for the season the following day and since the amusement park was closed no shuttle service. We also had water running through the C lane but that was probably because of Hurricane Ida. I would reserve a spot between lane A and B if you think theres a chance of rain.
Fantastic resort for families, has a shuttle that will save you lots of time so you dont have to fight the crowd to park. Sites were very level, camp store had almost everything! Very expensive if youre like me and didnt plan to use the pool or have kids who need entertainment!
Stayed here 3 nights in mid July 2021. Very clean campground with friendly staff. Our site (65) was very large and shaded with E/W hookups. I dont recommend the pull-thru sites at the front of the park. They are extremely tight with awnings and slide-outs almost touching your neighbor. Unless your ok with that Id suggest a back in site if you can. The pool and restrooms were very clean. The water wasnt really hot in the showers. The pool closes for an hour during the hottest part of the day which I dont quite understand. But it was refreshing and clean. The store was stocked nicely with a variety of items at decent prices. I would stay here again.
We stayed here the end of May. The swimming pool wasnt open yet and the bath house closest to us was closed - it was annoying to have to drive to the bath house by the office but they were clean. It was nice to get free parking at Hersheypark because we stayed here and the location was convenient. There was a train track really close to our site, but it didnt bother us too bad. I might would try to get a different site if we went back. Where we were they were small, close together, and no shade. The park was clean and the staff was friendly.
An off season stay is where its at! Cabins were clean, spacious, and well heated. Large family easily fit and the amount of people also staying in the campground was limited. Summer amenities also seemed to be well kept. Just be aware of the steep price increases throughout the season. Peak season prices near $300 a night for cabins! Besides that, another stay is definitely in the near future.
Nice spaces, gravel pads, some have full service some partial. Different rates. Our space backed up Swatara Creek, which is more of a river due to rains. Very nice setting. The park is in the middle of Hershey. Very easy to get to everything. The park has shuttles and ticket sales to all the venues.Lots of things to do in camp area. Large pool area, a store, etc.
The 1 Gold Star is for the staff and the Bus drivers who were great! The lack of the other 4 stars were for the crammed in pull through sites for RVs. I have never been to a campground with less space between the campers and so unlevel. On top of this the hookups are right at the back of the site more or less in our neighbors faces, We had a 20ft sewerage hose and had to buy another 10ft just to reach.... At the cost of $40 from the store may I add.... I would suggest they spend some money on making these sites less crammed in and more appealing. Would I go back? No. Loved Hershey Park though. Just wish they would spend some money on the campground.
Nice campground and generally very quiet except for the train. Runs about every 30 mins overnight, but I only woke up to it once in the morning when it laid on the horn.Store is well stocked for most rv necessities and has a decent gift shop. The playgrounds and pools looked nice but ran out of time to be able to check them out.
Fishing, swimming, games, camp activities great cabins…. This place has something for every age group in the family to do. Plus it’s affiliation to Hershey Park gives extra added bonus perks when visiting the park. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan on visiting again soon.
Awesome...literally saved us. We got so Blessed with the last minute accommodation. Beautiful Family friendly facility with tons of amenities and a Bus pick up to Hershey park also... a must go to if you are looking to have fun, sun and relaxation... Definitely will visit again. Oh Did I mention they also have Cabins... THANK YOU !!!
We typically love going to this campground when visiting Hershey Park. Excellent for the convenience of the bus that drops you off at the door of the park. This year due to Covid we arrived to find out no bus service until 7/1 (I understand not their fault however all we got was a parking pass only after I asked for one) Pool was only open 11a-7p and then closed for an hour in the middle of the day for cleaning- you open your pool that late you couldnt schedule cleaning before 11am? When we were it was 95+ temps would have been nice to have better access to the pool. Had to go back and ask for sweet start passes and get bracelets for the bus later in week. Was not provided at check in. Campers were setting off fireworks (wouldnt care but I dont want a hole in my awning/rubber roof on my RV from an ember)and staff did nothing but drive around in there golf carts- never seemed to stop anyone. We ended up leaving early. Much better experience when its not a holiday.
Its a great campground bit you wont sleep. There are train tracks next to the campground and the trains run all night long and are loud. If you are looking for relaxation or some sleep forget it. Trains all day and all night. Complete nightmare. Cant see why this campground Id rated so high. Expensive and pretty terrible.
We like the relaxed atmosphere of this park, but be aware that not all sites can accommodate a 35 or longer RV. The majority of the sites dont have sewer either. I like the rumble of the freight trains that pass within feet of the edge of the property, but they are probably not for everyone. On the plus side is the obvious close proximity to Hershey Park and the shuttle if you want to take it.
Stayed last year(2020) for a few days. Nice rv park. Trains do go by often so if you have a site near the basketball court, be warned. But we were able to sleep though them. Other than that- very quiet place in the cooler season. (The pool wasn’t open when we went)Also note if you have a site near the court/park, be prepared for children to run through your site constantly (so watch your fires carefully).Grass could be mowed a bit shorter, felt like our dogs got lost in the grass, and we did find ticks on them...Laundry facility was nice, showers/bathrooms clean, store was great and people were friendly. Close to downtown.
If you need a good nights rest and are staying in a tent, this is NOT the campground for you. Not only is there a VERY active train that runs next to the campground all hours of the day and night, the campground does not enforce quiet hours. We stayed 2 nights and got VERY little sleep. My 10 year old suffered greatly as our neighbors sounded like they were IN our tent and the train horn sounds at regular intervals all night long. I recommend staying somewhere else near Hershey. Most campgrounds in the area offer similar discounts and shuttles, as well. I wish I had known that before booking at this location.
This was our first, and last, stay at Hershey Park Camping Resort. We had 2 sites in our party-one with full hookups in Carrousel Circle and the other was a site we were using a tent on in Pioneer Heights. The sites in Carrousel Circle were so cramped there was only enough space to open your awning and place the picnic table under it. The fire pit was so close to the door we couldnt even use it because it wasnt safe. The site in pioneer circle wasnt much better. Again, small sites with no good places for the tents. The only option was to set up on the gravel pad which was very hard to hammer stakes into and VERY uncomfortable if you dont have an air mattress. The fire pit was almost in the site next to us which was awkward. They also didnt warn us that the 24/7 railroad literally ran almost every hour all night. It is so close the ground shakes and we woke up terrified every time the train went by. I could handle a midnight train or two but the first night I counted 8. My opinion is this campground is only interested in cramming as many sites in as they possibly can to make money and they are not interested in giving campers a nice experience. We have been camping for 30 years and for the price we paid I would have expected much better sites. The staff was also not very friendly and quiet hours were not enforced at all. The grounds were not maintained very well, the horseshoe pit was overgrown and the volley ball court was unusable due to bee swarms. The pool was well maintained but short hours. The bonus is the shuttle to Hershey Park, but I would rather pay the $25 to park at Hershey Park and find a better campground.
One upon a time this was a great little campground. Now its kinda beat at the non hook up sites. Many loud rude campers made us leave a day earlier than expected. They dont clean up between campers and its so noisy. Oh and they cant get enough staff to keep all the pools open so they are over crowded.
Great and reasonably priced campground resort. Much cheaper than KOA, better maintained, and more amenities. They have a shuttle to the park, tons of playgrounds, 2 pools with lifeguards, lots of cabins, a great store, and plenty of activities. Well definitely stay again when in Hershey.
Have been here 3 times and while the campsites are very tight up front the convenience of going to Hersheypark was worth it. This last yr we had plans to go but with covid government rules changed and werent able to leave the area. Notified the campgrounds we had booked for the summer and all but this one refunded all our deposits. Poor policy on this campgrounds part. Plenty of other campgrounds in the area and will be going there from now on.
If youre staying at the campground in order to go to Hershey Park, then this campground will work out well. If youre looking for an early season camping experience, you may want to consider something else; at least early in the season. Our site had a lot of nails, screws, and a fair amount of broken glass. Im just glad to have made it out without tire damage to my truck or RV.
Our experience was very good. But several of the areas seemed cramped and crowded. We were at site B, no number, just B, near a washroom. Two tenters were on either side of us on the first night, but got rained out.Next 2 nights, we had the area to ourselves. One FYI.... an active train line is very close, and you WILL hear it throughout the night (and day).
BAD SITES: We stayed here as a quick weekend getaway. We only interacted with staff at check in and they were very friendly. We have a 36ft 5th wheel and of course a truck. We were in the very crowded carousel loop. The sites are very short and narrow and all hook-ups are at the back of the site. You need to have extra hoses for sewer and water if you plan to use their hook ups. There is not enough room to set up much outdoors. The large A class next to us had their pull-out over our fire pit. In turn, ours was over the pit of our neighbors to our left. Once everyone has their units in the spaces there is not enough room for the trucks and/or tow vehicles so everyone is parked hanging out in the roads. It was so hard for people leaving early and trying to hook up and squeeze out of there. We have been camping for years, and unfortunately, we will not camp here again. Hope this helps anyone interested.
We love this place, its family oriented and the facilities are clean. We stood in the cabins Up top and we loved it. At the pool area I noticed that there were 4 life guards on duty, 2 of the 4 were constantly wiping down chairs and tables with cleaning solutions also they closed the pool from 2pm to 3pm for extra cleaning.. our cabin was very clean and met our expectations. Thank you for everything.
The cabin we stayed in was a 1bedroom deluxe, it had 2sets of bunk beds . Perfect for my family of 4. The cabin was clean and nicely updated. I would have liked to see the grounds cleaned up a little better. The pool was nice and they do a great job at social distancing.i would definitely stay again.
It was clean. Lots were small. A little pricy at $79 a night. I never even found a bathhouse around were our camp site was. Registration staff was polite but didnt explain anything about the camp ground like where the bath houses were or any activities for kids or adults. I guess if you dont specifically ask about something you dont get told about anything. Was disappointed about this stay.
Perfectly fine if you are looking to go to Hershey Park and other local attractions, but crowded if you want to relax in the woods. We stayed in the Carousel Circle area. The sites were pull through but fairly short. We have a 30ft motorhome and pulled a Honda Accord on a tow dolly. We arrived at 1am and just wanted to sleep. With the front bumper at the edge of the road ahead, the car hung slightly into the road behind us. If we were even two feet longer I would have had to disconnect the car that night rather than the morning. The sites are narrow too. The slide of the camper next to us was within 4 feet of the edge of our awning. I felt like I was in top of our neighbors. There is a train track next to the park. Freight trains rumbled by every hour or so over night. It didnt bother me; the white noise helps me sleep. I could understand that others might not like it.There is normally a shuttle bus to go to Hershey Park. It is currently closed due to Covid-19. If we come back in the future when the bus is operating we might not bother bringing the car.The campground is pet friendly. The staff was friendly and helpful. The facilities were clean. Lots of young kids on bicycles were riding around. Nobody was rowdy. I would come here again if I just wanted a place to sleep while going sightseeing. But I wouldnt stay here if I was going to be in the campground all day relaxing.
I’ve been coming to this campground almost every summer since 2002. I’ve grown up with it alongside Hershey Park. This campground is super family friendly and the staff are great. You check in at the large red barn and they tell you how to get to your campsite. Depending on your reservation, there are community bathrooms or indoor pluming for the deluxe cabins (green roofs). Everything is within walking distance. This year was a little different with COVID, but any other summer they have campground events, an arcade, store, basketball court, and movie nights outside. You also don’t have to worry about parking at the Park because they will give you a pass or you can use the shuttle bus. The only negative is the train on the far left side of the campground but it shouldn’t wake you up if you’re in a cabin. It’s not a deal breaker at all. This is the campground you want to book, trust me it’s awesome and super laid back!
My cabin was what I expected and great layout (along with it being clean inside) but the outside was much to be desired. I had hornets coming in the first day we stayed and again when we left, but it didnt help that there was a space between the wall and the window that was open for them to come in. Also the cooking rack for the fire pit was extremely dirty (I tried cleaning it to no avail). The deadbolt that locked the cabin was extremely difficult to lock/unlock. There was no way to move me as it was packed. If youre able to upgrade to a cabin with bathrooms and a shower, I would recommend it. I kinda regretted not doing it because I could have saved myself the grief thats in the second paragraph.Staff was nice but I honestly never felt safe on their property. When I checked in, no one checked my ID to make sure I was who I said I was. There were two teenagers that walked into every restroom that was on property and proceeded to trash it (ran all the sinks, TPed the floor, and ran the paper towels all over the floor) then proceeded to get into my face when I was trying to exit my stall just because I was wearing a damn mask (I have a weakened immune system so I was looking out for my safety but theres also a sign before you enter that you have to enter with a mask). Called security and stated they were going to do something about it and let them know which camp site they were staying in (when I was walking back to my cabin, they were also going back to their cabin). Then when I told the front desk, they stated that they really cant enforce it, even though I had their cabin number So which is it? When I brought up the hornets and lock, they offered a discount in which I never received.I wanted to like it there since they had activities throughout the week (they brought some animals in and my kids got to enjoy their company) and share the same perks that their on-site hotels have for a bit cheaper. But saving money also brought the consequences of dealing with trashy people. All in all, I probably will never go back.
This is a nice spot to camp, nice if you can secure spots with friends, if your looking to visit Hershey Park , there is a shuttle stop at the camp ground. Laundry , restroom , shower . Playground for children. Plenty of local stores near campgroundCon: still deserves 5 starTrain runs along back of campground (not to noticable at night)
Walk-in walked out, filled with bugs, no screens on door, smelled like ashtray, ac didn’t work, lost all my money and wouldn’t refund. My friends cabin was fine but they wouldn’t extend one night, after they initially said they would, then back peddled.the One night it was hot and barely any rain and wouldn’t let kids in pool, because of rain!(barely any)Move family to Hershey Lodge! Much much better!! Overall campground was organized, but very un-accommodating., with a sense of rudeness
They have is so crammed in the guy in the next sites fire is filling my rv with smoke and I can hear everything they are saying. if we hadnt just driven 600 miles to get here I would leave. My table is 2 ft from the next guys septic hose. Its definitely on the do not come back list. 2 stars is for the locations to the attractions the site says they have transportation to the the parks except they dont because of covid
How anybody is rating this 5 stars is beyond me. I stayed there a while ago. The cottages were crazy expensive so we stayed in a tent. We were up all night with the trains driving by. Literally so close to the tracks it would shake you. This is the trip we talk about being the worst and I mean the worst trip we have ever been on.
This review is based on my experience with pitching a tent in the Pioneer Heights section adjacent to the freight train line. We were three families of varying sleep ability stay and we all shared the same opinion.I live within close proximity of a 24/7 freight train, so I thought we would be OK. But nothing could make camping here OK. The pitches are SO CLOSE to the tracks. Trains crash through many times throughout the day and night. It was impossible to get a complete nights rest. This is a shame because the rest of the resort is fine! The general store, arcade, and pool were excellent. The bathrooms were clean and well-maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The proximity to the amusement park and other attractions is a great draw..But the noise. The Noise! THE NOISE!Having a note on the map Freight train operational 24/7 is no where near enough alert. Having reservations mention this fact is no where near enough, either. What the park needs to do is plaster YOU WILL NOT SLEEP all over the website, map, reservations, and check-in. Thats the only fair disclaimer for what lies ahead.
The full hook up area is very very tight so tight I was not comfortable with the fire next door so close to my slide. If you can deal with a train in your schedule 10 feet from you the back spaces have more room in between them. I would take the full hook up ones pave them and use 2 per site and charge more. Try parking a car behind the Rv when you have no room.
A nice getaway from home. Its equipped with cookware/utensils, organized, clean, and just the right amount of space. My only constructive criticism would be the shower, its messy and water from the shower gets everywhere when in use. They arent equipped with a mop so I suggest bringing your own (possibly a plastic curtain as well). I would definitely recommend.
The place is pretty crowded with camp sites on top of each other. Place Is built on a hill. The loss of 2 stars is for closing pools and all recreation at 7pm meaning you cannot use the camp facilities and go to the park on the same day. This is completely unacceptable for $80 a night campground. Would not stay here again because of this.
Positives: The cabin we stayed in was well maintained and the shuttle is conveniently located to the cabins with friendly and helpful drivers.Negatives: We stayed in peak season paying quite a bit for our cabin and the pool closed at 6pm every day. It seems ridiculously early considering the kids might want to swim in the evening. Also the shuttle stop at the park is farther out than you could park your car and the laundry area had several broken machines (1 washer and 2 dryers) which is not convenient when you are providing your own linens/towel/etc and spending the day at a theme park in 90+ degree heat.
I highly recommended this camping ground. It has been a family tradition for more than 20 years to get together with our family and enjoy this wonderful place. I want to thank Marcy and Shawn who checked us in for giving us perfect customer service. The staff was so friendly from the security to the maintenance. Hershey camping resort has been creating the sweetest memories in our lives. Thank you and we’ll see you next August.Update for 2021 in the campground and it’s always the best, you never failed us. Thank you for all the wonderful memories. Angel, thank you for being accommodating to our family tradition. Every staff member we encounter was polite, helpful and friendly, even the lifeguards. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
Very nice place and they have the largest most gorgeous Sycamore tree I have ever seen. The office staff is super friendly and the rates are very reasonable in the winter. The only downside is they dont want meth labs in the park, which is kinda off putting. But I go up by the railroad tracks and cook there. Easy peasy. Great place!!!
Overall, the cabin was very nice. The train was close but you couldnt hear it over the AC, being in a tent would definitely be louder. Was disappointed that the creek isnt really that good for fishing(advertised as it is), it was about knee deep and fast. Overall, I would recommend the cabin not sure about the tents.
This is one of my favorite places to camp but my last stay was not perfect. We took our fifth wheel there in August 2020 for a week of camping and fun at Hershey. While I am glad they were open there was a few annoying things to deal with. Masks were mandatory inside the buildings and when entering the pool area, but not in the pool. I dont wear a mask and dont think anyone has the right to tell people to wear or not wear one, so that was offensive. The pool hours were way too limited at 11am to 6pm and they close it daily from 2 to 3pm to clean. There are no activities for kids like they normally have. There is no shuttle running to Hershey for some unknown reason. The grass was not cut and very high. Annoying because we play on it alot. The nice parts were the fact that it was not very crowded and the staff was super nice as always.
I have to say I was a little disappointed. Being it was Hershey Parks campground I guess I expected more. The sites are super small, our picnic table practically over next sites utilities. There was trash throughout our site, a gazillion broken water balloons (not a big deal) but plastic utensils, soft drink bottles? Took me 5 minutes to clean something their staff should take care of. Im assuming it is not privately owned and management does not care. Take a little pride in your campground.
Kind of pricey, but if you deduct the price of parking at Hershey Park (they will give you a parking pass) then its a bit more reasonable. Paid $100 and we got here at 4:30 (check in is after 3) and we are packing up and heading to the park by 11:00. Subtracting the $30 parking pass makes it a $70 site for about 18 hours. Not going to be here long enough to check out a lot of the things to do here, but I suspect Covid has put a damper on most activities. The pool is open and looks nice. They limit the number of people in there.
Best campground Ive been to! Friendly staff, clean air conditioned restrooms and showers, laundry, 3 pools, nice sized lots for tents with beautiful stream view! Lots of activities. It was a treat just to camp here had to extend our stay since we were enjoying it so much. Big plus with free shuttle ride to Hershey park Bus drivers are very friendly! Nice that they are on top of their campers safety with check in/out, lifeguards and security. Wish all campgrounds were like this. Prices are decent :) Highly recommend
Stayed in a cabin, which was quite nice inside. Front desk closed at 4 which seems a little early. we had no idea and wanted to go get fire wood when we came back from the park at 5 but they were closed up. Beyond that the cabin itself is clean and has 4 beds in it, 1 of which is a double. Fridge, microwave, stove top, toaster, paper towels. The water is off since its December, but in summer months there is running water and a bathroom. Bathrooms and showers at the lodge were clean. Pretty good deal with a free shuttle to the park.
Loved it! This place is a very clean, family friendly camping resort. The pool and all the bathroom facilities are well maintained and the staff is incredibly nice. The pricing is very fair, even on the camping supplies and food in the store. The shuttle to Hershey Park runs regularly during peak hours and the driver always shares a bit about Hershey history and is willing to help with strollers and small kids. I highly recommend this place.
Everything about the campground experience was perfect, unless you wanted to sleep. A very loud train goes by as often as every 15 minutes throughout the night. We were tent camping with the scouts. The grounds are very well maintained. The staff is friendly. The morning bus line was kind of long. It is a shame because the place is really nice. I guess if you have an RV its perfect. You can close the windows. We felt like the train was in our tent it was so loud.
Very nice! I loved the fact we got shuttled to and from the park. That was fantastic! They pick up trash for you, and the office is very nice. They had great activities all day and movies at night. I gave a 4 star because, there is a train that goes through all night long, that was hard in a tent to ignore (they do put tents furthest from the tracks) AND they close the pool a little earlier than we would like. By the time we got settled they were already closing it. All in all very nice.
Cant say enough about how helpful the staff were. We did late check in after waiting for hours in Sweet Lights traffic. They called before they closed and even helped push through park tickets at the discounted rate and emailed them to me. We will definitely be back.
We really enjoyed the camping resort. Very clean and well maintained. Tons of activities for the kids to do, and the free shuttle over to the park is fantastic! The camp store is very well stocked. We stayed in the carousel area (151-217?) and these sites are VERY tight...uncomfortably tight. There was only about 6-8 from the end of our awning to the guys slide out next to us, and there is a fire ring and picnic table there as well. Most of the sites are just pea gravel and have no grassy areas, so we had to walk our dogs quite a ways, not all that fun in the middle of the night. The pedelstools are also at the very tail end of the site, not the middle, and our 30 power cord just barely made it. If you stay on one of these sites, make sure you have at least 30 of sewer hose if you have mid-coach connections. Departing was a challenge too with all the trucks parked along the road. If you want space and a little grass, stay up on the hill. I wont ever book another one of those sites again, but we would come back. Everything else was great.
The cabin I was in was really really small. For the price would have expected something a little better. The camping ground is tight. Packed like sardines. The bathrooms and showers are really nice tho! Close to the park but the bus took 30 mins to pick us up. We missed the early access benefit. The Reese’s ride was shutdown after we waited another 35 mins. ##{%}{! They did not announce it. Feel like this place nickel and dimes you!
One of the nicer campgrounds we have visited. The pool is nice but not much shade. The train is loud on the upper side, the bottom was better last year. The shuttle to the park is a plus. The misleading offer of a park discount was annoying when we paid the same price online. A lot of kids unsupervised but not the responsibility of the campground. Also need to push the bag your poop rule.
Super nice people in the store and office. Pool was clean and bathrooms were nice with a lot of water pressure. Great movies at night. Transportation to the park A++ . Never have to wait . Our spot (94) was right up against the fence where the train past allNight. Didn’t effect me, I sleep like a log but it did pass a lot through the night. WillVisit again!
Id rate this place overall as average. Restrooms and grounds were very clean and maintained much better than average. Stayed in carousel circle, site 207. Access to site is very tight, could be easy but the sewer hookup is in the site rather than off to the side. Had to straddle it with front tires and then sneak my rear tires inside it. Sites are on top of neighbors, to the point there should be no fire rings. We are trying different places in the area while visiting family, not Hersheypark. Not sure if we will be back or not.
The campground was clean, staff was very friendly - and the group coordinator was very helpful with all my questions leading up to the trip. The pool looked delightful, but we didnt have time to use it. The camp store was well stocked and the playground was nice, although my toddler couldnt really use it much (the only way to get to the slide was a rock wall or a climbing bar)Our site was booked through the Girl Scouts, so we had no choice in our tent location, or if we were able to get a cabin. They did mention the train, but as a previous review stated - the train was LOUD. As was the interstate. I probably only slept 2 hours total. My kids slept perfectly fine, though. Knowing what we know now, I would just book the trip myself, and get a cabin or a location deeper into the camp away from the noise.
We really like the convenience of camping here when you go to Hersheypark. Shuttle runs constantly. The full hookup sites are ok but you are most likely here for the park. You can go to the park 1hr before official open and the night before for a preview. Cheapest tickets available means at the time you are there. I saw plenty of better deals than we paid at the campground earlier in the season.
As always the staff was incredibly helpful and kind. We did not take advantage of the shuttle but on the future we will! Wifi was strong and cable hookup provided a strong signal. My only complaint was the only bathrooms open were the ones in the main building and by Sunday morning they were in desperate need of a cleaning.
Sooo... the freight train that runs behind the campground is incredibly loud!! Not one person in our camper nor the entire street slept. The trains would run all night and it felt like it was going to drive through your RV! The sites are a little tight if you have a longer RV or are new to towing, but you’re there for the experience, right? The campground itself was really nice and bathrooms were clean. I would go again but would absolutely not stay any where even close to the train tracks. My 5 year old train loving son would beg to differ. They offered a lot for Halloween weekend and the shuttle to and from the park is great.
Ive been coming here for the past 14 years and have enjoyed my stay here everytime. The facilities are spotless, the staff are all extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the sites are all well manicured and maintained. If you camp its an affordable way to go on a family vacation. The only complaint I had was with the contracted shuttle service to take you to the park, in the past it seemed to run much better. It stops at the lodge before the park, and had to leave people behind multiple times. It also seemed to take 30+ minutes or more for the shuttle to show up. We missed out on almost an hour at the park because the shuttle was taking so long and made so many stops. The 2nd day we waited for the shuttle in the morning for 30 minutes and then said screw it and drove our car to the park. Despite this Id still give the campground 5 stars because its that good. They just have to sort out the shuttle issue.
This is a great campground to stay at if you are in Hershey and you are going to be going to the Park, they have a bus that goes directly there and back. They also have a giant swimming pool and all sorts of fun and games for the kids, they also show movies so families can grab some popcorn and seat with each other and watch the movie on the lawn. The camp sites are clean and actually very roomy. No matter what type of trailer or camper you have the sites accommodate your rig. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are going to visit Hershey Park.
The spots in the front are way to tight for the size of the larger trailers and RVs that they stuff in there. No one takes you to your spot so you end up driving around the whole lot twice to figure out how to pull in your spot. Wish there was a playground and bath house closer to the carousel circle area. The pool was ice cold and not enjoyable. People were friendly and the shuttle was nice, campground is overall clean but our spot had a lot of liter, plastic pieces and wrappers that we cleaned up when we arrived. We usually stay at KOAs but took a chance since this was a Hershey park resort, but we wont be back.
HersheyPark Camping Resort is a really great campground, with nice pull through sites and full utility hook ups water, 50, 30 amp connections, free WiFi and the cable tv hook up works. While we were there the Resort hosted a Magic show which was really good Mr Sneakers (the magician) made 100’s of balloon characters for all the camp kidsNegative - the first night we pulled into our spot a car came through the park speeding the car was traveling well over 70 mph through the rv sections he almost several small children, my Dog and then the car drove the field to avoid being blocked by a rv that had pulled into the street to try stop the driver
We really enjoyed this Camping Resort. I took a 35 foot travel trailer with two slide outs and fully equipped (new). We knew we might have to work off my onboard tank as it was advertised that water was unavailable. However, the area we were in was close to their working water tap and we actually got city service 48 hours after arrival. The spaces are unimproved gravel. You are going to have to level. However each space is roomy and has a table and fire ring. Besides full cabins, the RV slots are full service with sewer and decent cable. Prices were reasonable during off peak but can start getting expensive for parking spots during peak tourist season. Propane can be filled in site.I cant say enough good about the staff. Theyre friendly and helpful. Their Assistant Maintenance Manager, Mike, should be singled out for going above and beyond for guests including myself. Im actually going to miss some of the people I met that worked for the campground.
I Thought it was a great place! We tent camped in the primitive area. Nice and grassy, very spacious. Staff was very friendly. I will definitely be back! There is one thing that bothered me which is why I only gave 4 stars. I was well aware of the trains running all hours. Which didnt bother me it wasnt too bad in the section we were in. But what did bother me was the extrememy noisy gas powered golf cart that drove past my tent in the middle of the night and woke me out of a dead sleep TWICE! I was under the impression quiet hours were 11pm-8am. This happened around 3am! They should definitly look into electric carts or something if they are going to be patrolling past peoples sites at those hours. Just saying.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Free shuttle to Hershey Park and Chocolate World, 3 pools, activities, easy check in, nice site, dog friendly, playground (parents are suppose to be with their children but this was not the case with 3 girls who kept putting dirt on the slides).
This was our second time at this campground and we love it! We stayed again in a basic cabin and thats good for us. Clean facilities throughout and very nice staff. We only had one problem which wasnt handled real well. Our lock broke on our door on day two, so before we left for Hersheypark we dropped off our keys at 10:30 am to have someone fix the problem. We advised the front desk that our cabin wasnt locked and we would prefer it be taken care of ASAP for that reason. We were told it would be taken care of while we were gone and that we could just pick up the keys when we got back. Needless to say, it wasnt and the late night maintenance had to deal with it after we got back at 11:00 pm. We just wanted to eat, shower, and go to sleep when we got back after such a long day at Hersheypark, but we couldnt. It took about another hour to (sort of) resolve the problem. They were very friendly and apologetic and it wasnt THEIR fault, but come on! They had 12 hours to resolve the issue. Other than that issue its always been a great experience. The free shuttle to Chocolate World and Hersheypark make staying here even more worth it!!
Priced a little high for a square of dirt but the amenities are worth the higher fee. The bathhouse was always clean when we used it. Good pool area. Movies in the evenings and activities for the kids during the day. The shuttle to and from the park was also a nice benefit.
The spots are very tight...I guess you have to expect that at Hershey. We had a nice shady spot. We loved the trolley to Hershey. We didnt have to unhook our trailer. Everyone that worked there was very nice. They could use another bathroom & showers in the front circle. I had a 20 minute wait to get in the shower at the pool. The pools are nice and big with lots of seats. The have lifeguards which is awesome. I did leave this campground with a tick...which grossed me out!
I really liked this park. It has a lot of amenities for kids and adults. They have a shuttle to Hershey Park. The downside is there is a train track above the one side of the campgrounds where we were located. We were told in advance about the train. The trains run constantly day and night. Its also a little nerve wracking knowing this train is so close and so high above you. It wouldnt matter where you were located in the park you would still be able to hear the trains. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars.
Staying here was wonderful! The Sweet Start into Hershey Park, the night before using our tickets, was great! The pool, restrooms, store, and other amenities, as well as the staff, were all nice. The only reason for 4 stars, not 5, is due to the proximity to the railroad which meant lots of noise and some shaking of our trailer, at all hours of the day and night.
The campground shuttle is so convenient and by staying at rhe campground, you get extra hours in the park! Camper App keeps you informed as to all of the activities happening at the campground. However, the spots are REALLY tight and it took us 45 minutes just to get out of our spot before our departure. The security guard was very nice and helpful while trying to get out of the spot. Also, adding a bathroom in the front loop would be nice.
Beautiful campground! Clean sites. A Creek runs next to the park. A babbling brook runs through it. They have 2 large swimming pools plus a kiddie pool. Arcade, nice gift shop plus a camp store are in the main common area. They have a rec room, family movies on an outdoor screen plus crafts and activities for the family. The Campground is just a few miles down the road from other Hershey attractions. A shuttle runs back and forth for campers. Staff are awesome! Workers are friendly and outgoing; always available to help in any way they can!
The facility itself was nice. Very convenient having the shuttle to go back and forth to the park. My only complaint is the tent sites are terrible. The grass wasnt mowed, the ground was solid and hard to get steaks in. We would come again, but would stay in a cabin this time. Showers were the cleanest out of all the places we have gone. The toilet stalls do not cleaned everyday, that got gross. But ya cant always blame the camp ground when there are nasty people in this world. All in all it was ok.
It was a great place to stay. The convenience of a bus back and forth from the park was nice. The security would constantly patrol to make sure everyone is okay. Another nice feature was they would give you a trash and recycle bag and they would come and pick it up every day. It was an overall an amazing experience.
This is a nice place for a family getaway - extended your Hershey Park vacation for a day or three and stay here - camp, RV, or simply rent a cabin. The facilities are clean and the property is quiet with constant security patrols. The free shuttle to Hershey Park runs every 15/20 minutes and drops you right at the front entrance. Our stay was in a cabin - 2 adults in one bedroom and 4 kids in dual-bunks on the other side, with a kitchenette was more comfortable than we expected. Will gladly stay here again if/when we are in the area.
I would give it less than a one if I could. Just checked in and wish we could get a refund and leave. Paid $100 per night for small spots that are so close that you eat next to your neighbors sewerage hose. Sewer connections are at street so most need extra third hose if hookup is mid trailer. Store “happens” to have them for $$$$. Store people aren’t even all that friendly. Good financial plan on their part though since you will need hoses, have a captive audience so they can charge high rates. Our sewer hose looks like it is already in sewage due to pungent mud smell. Another place we stayed with similar problem told us upfront so we could change sites or pick another place. The rest of the site is a mud pit. Picnic table is green and slimy with algae. Expected a top notch park for the dollars. Was really looking forward to this part of our trip and totally disappointed. We have stayed in about 40 parks. Worst park yet. Their best attribute is the sign for the campground. Oh, don’t forget that it’s called an RV resort. Do not waste your money!!Bad enough we left early.
We camped in a tent and in a cabin because of the rain. Everything was convenient. The cabin was a tad pricey. The busses ran often to the park and we didn’t have to pay for parking. The pool and bathrooms were very clean. The shop was well stocked with nice souvenirs and camping supplies. Highly recommend.
Towing a 30 trailer. We travel 20+ days a year at campgrounds all over the country. Compared to others, price is a little high and the full hook up sites are ridiculously small for the price. Most people, like us, cant even park our pick up on our site. The sewer connections are not even threaded and I guess are supposed to be a quick disconnect, but I dont even see in the camp store where you could buy an adapter. So you place your sewer elbow in there and hope for the best? First campground I ever stayed that wasnt threaded for sewer. Only 2 minutes from the park. Very nice facilities on the property. I really like it here but the trailer sites are way too small for parking, setting up, and then when you have to leave, its an adventure trying to thread your way through the narrow 2 way streets. Again, everything else is top notch, but not worth it to me to be packed in the sites like that.
Decided to spend Fathers Day weekend at Hersheypark camping resort with my family this year, and I was not disappointed. The staff was fantastic, the pool was great, the campsites were just fine as well! We ended up having a late arrival almost midnight and we were greeted by Campground security who showed us to our campsite where we were able to set up and then do our registration process in the morning once the registration desk was open.
We have stayed at the campground before and loved it. This time we chose to stay in a deluxe 2 bedroom cabin up on the hill. It was amazing. The cabin was clean and spacious for our family of 6. Unfortunately, we arrived during a flood watch that did not get any better. The staff were amazing! I watched them evacuate and move ppl from the lower end of the park. They were concerned only about safety. We choose to stay and try to wait it out. By day 3 we decided to leave. The staff, again, were amazing. They refunded the remainder of my week and even gave me 1/2 off my 2nd night as the pool had closed and there were no rec activities offered due to the weather. I can not wait to go back. Hershey Campground is full of good people.
We have been to this campgrounds before and enjoyed it. We got a great price on a month stay although they do not have the water turned on yet until April sometime. We got caught in a snow storm yesterday and they plowed the roads for there customers. Friendly people willing to help if you need it. We are having a good visit. We also managed to catch a Noreaster while we were here. Glad our camper is staying warm.
Very clean and well maintained. Only reason I dont give it 5 stars is there are freight trains that comes through a few times a night, so try to choose a site as far from the train tracks as possible. The staff is very friendly and they have a shuttle to Hershey Park that is included with your stay.
This place has ups and downs. First the pros: they have a lot of family friendly activities. We tie dyed, did crafts, face painting, and watched a twilight movie. The pools are nice. The shuttle is wonderful, it gets you to the park in 15 minutes. They pick up your trash daily for you.The cons: they pack you in like sardines. The next sites tent was right next to you ours. They do not patrol at night so the groups next to us were up until midnight way past quiet time with lights blasting and making loud noise and nothing was done. That and the trains coming about every hour means you will not be sleep at all. Our site was right next to the tracks. It was the worst nights sleep Ive had for a while. The showers are tiny and the bathrooms are not cleaned. Never were all three pools open. In the morning they wouldnt open the kids pool which is hard when you have small kids.Im not sure if I would stay here again. I like the location and the shuttle. But Im will never camp in a tent again. We might try a cabin but Im really not sure. The cons really out way the cons.
This campground is TOO crowded for tenters. Some sites have clear boundaries and others youre left wondering what picnic table and fire pit is yours. If you want a private camping experience, this is not the place to go. To the resort management: label your picnic tables and firepits, it just takes a little bit of spray paint. The resort boasts 2 full size pools and a kiddie pool. One of the full sized pools has a depth of 3 at its deepest. Also, during our stay only one pool was open for use (in addition to the kiddie pool). We were told the second pool was for overflow. The positives - the shuttle service is godsend and honestly the only reason why wed come back here. We never waited more than 5 minutes and it ran all day. We were able to come and go to the amusement park with no worry. The bus drivers were super friendly and helpful.I also want to note that a lot of people complain about the train and it blowing its horn every half hour during the night. I think this is a bit over dramatic. While it did blow its horn, it wasnt every half hour and it wasnt even every time it travelled by. Our tent was smack dab in the middle of the resort with the train in clear view and this in no way was a negative to our stay. The resort was clean, they took care of the garbage for you and despite it being a full house there was always hot water for a shower. We are 50/50 on if wed stay here again or if we would recommend it, the shuttle service is the best part but that can be utilized at any Hershey resort.
From the moment we pulled into the campground, I could tell it was going to be cramped. RVs were lined up like it was a parking lot and the tent sites were not much roomier. Sites were way too close together and offered absolutely no privacy. People were very loud, in general and past quiet hours. That, combined with the loud freight train running by all night, made it nearly impossible to get any good sleep. Neighboring sites were obnoxiously yelling and fighting and blasting music. I agree with the other reviewer who said that security should have been patrolling for those behaviors instead of guests having to call to get them shut down. I also was disappointed that there were not closer bathroom facilities given the volume of tent sites (we were down by the river). I did like that someone came by to pick up garbage/recycling and that there was a frequent shuttle to the park, and the bathroom/showers were nice and clean and roomy, but that is honestly it. I do not plan on ever coming back to this site. If you do plan to camp here, I recommend getting several sites together so that you have some space and privacy, but dont expect to get any real sleep.
Writing my review kind of early into my trip, as I set here unable to sleep thanks to the never ending onslaught of freight trains whipping by. They did tell us that they had an active freight train line but damn! Its at least an average of one every half hour whizzing by about 50 feet from our tent. My 9 years has been able to sleep thru all of them but the 3yr old....not so much. Some sound barrier would be do wonders. Our site is a bit smaller than I would have expected but overall the facility and location seem very nice. Checking was surprisingly fast, which was nice after a nearly 5 hour drive. If it wasnt for these damn trains, I would have given a 5 star review.
Overall, great. Few imperfections makes this 4 stars. I can only speak for the cabins, but this place was very popular with the tent and RV crowd, too.The good:- shuttles to Hersheypark are very convenient- cabins are an excellent option, especially in hot/rainy weather. Clean and cool.- three pools for the kids were clean and fun- Game room was nice when the pool was closedThe not so good:- they close the pool if a cloud looks at them funny...twice the pool was closed for a few hours because there were storms in the area. By “in the area” I think they meant “anywhere in Pennsylvania.”- that train is legit. It’s loud and pretty unavoidable
My family of 5 stayed here for 4 nights in one of their luxury cabins. The cabin was clean, spacious, and full of amenities, including AC and a tv. My kids loved the bunk beds! The campground had huge pool, basketball court, and games for the kids. You could also by tickets for the park there, and it had a shuttle to take you back and forth. Affordable and fun!
My daughter and I had an amazing experience. My daughter made some new pen pals. We loved the campground and all the activities they had their for kids. We loved the friendliness of the staff. Could have stayed there all summer if it wasnt so expensive. Wish it was even a little cheaper. We forgot something in the cabin and they are mailing it to us.
Very nice place to take the family. Each spot has a firepit and picnic table. There is a nice swimming pool with lifeguard. A store is on the property where you can get all of your Hershey gifts, camping needs & a couple of standard things for your RV if something breaks. The price to stay each night was reasonable. There is a shuttle nearby to take you back and forth to the park throughout the day & night.
The place is good to Camp especially if you going to Hersheypark it’s cheap and convenient to take the bus back and forth. However some spots are tight. We stayed at number 9. Very small. 26in trailer hard to park as no parking for your vehicle. Bathroom was awesome and clean.
Just returned from our first trip to Hershey campground and found the staff friendly along with a nice store and pool, but other reviewers were accurate in saying the camper sites were very crowded and tight. Roads were not passable within the camper area and there were pot holes throughout filled with water. I simply felt like we were crammed in there like sardines. We also had loud music and vocal partiers across the way from us and I ended up calling security twice after midnight (quiet time starts at 11) in order to finally get some sleep. Would have been nice for security to patrol rather than have to call. I didnt go inside, but the cabins did look nice and new. Bath houses were clean but average. Disappointed also that there was no dog park. All in all, I expected much better quality from a Hershey owned facility. I doubt well be back unless there are major improvements.
Great option to hotels or resorts for enjoying Hersheypark! The campgrounds are nice, but much smaller than most weve stayed at. Staff is nice and friendly, campground movie nights rock and so does that handy shuttle right to Hersheyparks doorstep. The area we stayed was literally right near the train tracks and that was noisy, but definitely our mistake. The quiet hours were not enforced which made it very hard to sleep that first night between that noisy group and the trains -hopefully the rest of the week is better! Not far from the park and Hershey downtown, this gives you the best of both worlds with camping and a theme park.
This is a great camping resort. Be careful when you go the first time because we ended up at a different hershey rv park that was not this one. Make sure you have the right address and do not just gps hershey rv park. Each time we go there are plenty of friendly people in the community. The pool tends to be super cold at times. We hit the basketball courts and love the quick shuttle ride directly to the park. The downside is there is a train track right next to the park. If you are a light sleeper this can be tough for you especially if you spot is directly next to the tracks. The train doesnt just come through, they blast the steam horn at the same time. Bathroom facilities were very clean and relaxing. Staff is friendly, great amount of tree coverage throughout. We have a blast here. Lots of kids bring their bikes to ride around. Highly recommended for a family vacation.
Bathrooms were clean and the overall appearance was maintained. but if you are any where near the Train tracks beware they are loud and frequent bring some ear plugs if you plan on getting any sleep. The shuttle runs about every 30 mins to the park almost to the door which is nice.
The grounds are beautiful, and this place is super convenient to Hershey Chocolate Works and Hershey Park. The premium pull-thru sites are super tight, and I would recommend to just get a less expensive back in site as they appear to have more room and less cars/trucks parked everywhere. The staff is mostly short with you or rude as many of the prior reviews said. If you never have to talk to the staff, then your good, but heaven forbid you need anything! I doubt I would return only because I dont see any reason to go back to Hershey.
We had a great 2-night stay at the Hersheypark Camping Resort in August 2016. We arrived prior to check-in and the staff let us park in the campground general parking so that we could head over to Hersheypark and avoid paying $15 to park. After loosing several hours at the park due to lost keys the day prior, the supervisor at the Camping Resort honored us with free tickets for the following day. Its clear that the staff here really care about their patrons having an enjoyable experience, and I would definitely stay again. Sites are spacious and quiet (at least where we were) and bathrooms were immaculate. Washers and dryers are also available if youre traveling light.Pro tip: Buy all your tickets to Hersheypark through the Camping Resort and receive considerable discounts--including a significant discount on your second day if you can present the prior days ticket
The worst. I made reservations a year prior to Aug 17-19 for a family reunion. I reserved a pavilion for 50-75 when I got there we were given a pavilion that held 8 people. I ordered three cabins which was anywhere from 500.00 to almost 600.00 and although they were nice cabins I could have slept at a hotel and not been bothered by a train that was 50 feet from our cabins. my daughter got a tent site and she was given a site with gray gravel to sleep on. the rocks were coming though the bottom of the tent.they blew up my phone calling me about someone in my party did not have a wristband on and they wanted to know who these people were. my nephew checked in and everything was all set she gave him the keys to the wrong cabin gave my son the wrong cabin and then she charged me 66.00 and it was my nephews cabin. they charged my daughters campsite for 3 nights she was only there 2 nights. The sites were so small. there was no driveway that lead to the front door of the cabin you had to park in back and walk and carry everything around to the front of the cabin. Never again I will go to Thousand Traills for our family reunion next year.
Really disappointing. Pictures of campground made it look like a high-end facility. Rates were rates of a high end facility. From those I expected a high end facility. I found a dirty mud pit with trailers jammed in right next to one another. Sewer connection was over 30 feet from my trailer connection. Had to pay $60 to buy an additional (third) hose to reach the sewer connection. I really expected more. I won’t be back and I can’t recommend this facility to anyone.
We have a water and electric tent site. The bath houses are extremely clean. All the staff we have encountered have been super nice. Pools are beautiful. Shuttle transportation to hershey park and chocolate world is super convienint and the drivers are very nice. We are looking forward to coming again.
This is a tough 3 star review. And I might edit it if I stay there another time. We stayed at the campground not long after those heavy rains had flooded the area, so the campground had to put a lot of people in a few places in the campground. The camp sites were small and because youre using a Hershey Park branded campground, youre paying more anyway. Im just not sure the price is worth it to stay at a Hershey park rv campground. It may be worth it to look at others. With the bad stuff out of the way, it was very nice to have the shuttle available to go to and from the park. There was no hassle using it and it drops you close to the front gate.If it wasnt so crowded and the price was lower, this would be a 4 star place. But again, Id like to re-evaluate it when the entire campground is open.
This used to be a really great campground. You had people in reservations that knew camping. Now you have some kid who doesn’t have a clue about camping telling you your 32’ rig will fit on the site. Yes it will fit lengthwise but not width wise when you have 2 sliders and an awning. When asking if there is another site you’re told we’re full. This campground used to keep some site open for this reason. Again they need to get people in who understand camping.
Spots are tight... Really need to be skilled to get in many spots. This is our second year here and not impressed with the bath facilities. They were filthy all weekend. Never cleaned or restocked, this was a big change from last year. Even with the that still love coming here, quiet and restful.
Well the noise wasnt a problem for us besides very unruly party people in the next site over..but the seriously were the smallest campsites I have ever seen! We are campers for sure and never seen anything like them. There is no room to set up and park and absolutely no room for children to play. We used the map to pick out the best and biggest spot and let me tell you that map was incredibly off scale. My husband also ended getting bit by what they think was a brown recluse so we had to leave early and he ended up in the hospital on iv antibiotics for two days. Definitely wont be camping there again.
Weve stayed here year after year and it seems to be getting better the last few years. Bathrooms have been updated and more staff hired to keep things clean and picked up. I wish theyd police people on the roads better though. It seems to be left to the campers to self-police the idiots tearing through the place in their vehicles with kids playing everywhere.
Cabin was very nice, good amenities and free bus to Hershey Park was all great. But if youre going to the park you might want to add an extra day camping. We asked if we could extend stay by one day and we were told we could but would need to go to another cabin which was fine. But the price for extending one day was the same as renting two nights. We didnt stay.
We arrived to find out that our site isnt ready. Granted we arrived prior to 3pm( the lastest check in we ever encountered!) at around 2pm but it didnt appear like they were warranting the site will be available at 3!! We finally got into our site after long, not very pleasant conversation with the manager. Other customers were also waiting in line with their list of complaints. Site we got in was very cramped and narrow. The fire ring was located 3 feet from neighboring trailer and their propane tanks. Unsafe practice. You have absolutely zero privacy. If you travel with the dog note there is no area for dogs to run without a leash- no dog park. No trash available to dispose the waste bags neither. We did not enjoy the stay, neither did we manage to relax and unwind. Its busy. Very difficult to maneuver between parked trucks and trailers. Our neighbors were loud, played music and partied after 11pm quiet hours. The campground staff passed by them but didnt confront the behavior. My husband finally asked them to quiet down. Neithless to say we will never be back, nor we would ever recommend it to any of our camping friends.
First time staying here in our TT...We are very pleased and happy with this campground. From the cleanliness and staff. Pool was great, and very clean. Love the gift shop and the bathhouse are very clean👌👍We are definitely coming back here again n again. Love the security staff always on alert and the staff collecting trash constantly.. Keep up the great work👍...
Nothing special for an expensive stay, avg $90 per night Saturday through Tuesday. Convenient shuttle to the park. Most unexpected is the pool has very short hours for a camping resort, closed at 6pm each night. So, if you go to the park or Chocolate World for the day, forget the thought of an evening swim. We stayed in the Carrousel circle, nicely shaded, very close sites. I would recommend staying as far away from the train tracks as possible, they do warn you, the freight trains go by frequently. Where we were, the sound was muffled a bit. We heard them even with the windows closed.
If you are driving a big rig, and forget about tiring!, this is the campground from hell. It is impossible to access the pull thru sites from registration. Parking spots (if they aren’t all full with cars/people at the pool) are beyond the road to the sites. We couldn’t make the turn and couldn’t back up and ended up on a dead end road. We unhooked and tried to turn the RV around and wiped out the front quarter panel of the RV on a low post! Signage is non existent. Sites are horrible - difficult to get into, narrow, no grass, not even sure we can get out without further damage. It’s all about the amusement park. Trust me, no amount of chocolate is going to make up for the damage to the RV or our nerves.
Staff is courteous, plenty of amenities, pool, game room, walking, not having to pay to park to get into the park is another perk. The location is less than desirable in over half the sites. A train passes every 30 minutes at night just 15 feet from the campsites and it WILL rattle you awake like a New York City apartment. Most sites do not have full hook ups so the line for dumping upon departure can get long.

2022-06-12We had the most amazing time staying at Hersheypark Camping Resort. We stayed from Sunday to Friday and visited Hersheypark 2 of those days. We stayed in the basic log cabin and it was perfect! It had a full size bed for my husband and I and two single beds for my daughter and my nephew with a dresser separating the two. It was just what we needed to unplug and relax. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The shuttle was a nice extra that saved us quite a bit in parking fees. The one thing that stood out to us was how clean the bathroom/ shower houses were. The cleaning staff were on it. We saw them no less than every two hours stopping in to clean and check the restrooms. The water pressure and hot water was to die for and felt amazing after a long day. The kids loved the pool and the volleyball court. I absolutely loved the creeks especially going down to where the two creeks met. It was so peaceful and was a great place to relax and be one with nature for a bit. The camp store had good coffee and just about anything you needed. We loved our stay and cant wait to come back and try the deluxe cabin or maybe even to use our tent.

2022-05-09Ive stayed here twice so far, both times it was not busy, and both times in Carousel Circle area. This is a pretty large campground with all different types of sites and different sized cabins. There are a couple of playgrounds, the pools, basketball, sand volleyball, horseshoes, and of course the shuttle to Hersheypark. The staff is very friendly (I was walking around yesterday getting exercise and checking out the Pioneer Heights area which I hadnt seen before, and an employee was cleaning the laundry up there and made a point to greet me and ask me how my stay was. Like, no big deal or anything, but she could have just ignored me, I wouldnt have thought she was rude or anything, she was working.) There is a busy railroad track right next to the campground, which could be really cool if someone in your family is into trains. It could be less cool if you werent aware and booked a site next to it and found the noise disturbing. The trains dont honk super close to the campground (you do hear honking though, there must be a crossing somewhere nearish) and I live near a train track so the noise doesn’t bother me.The only complaint I have is that at least some of the staff do not understand about driving RVs. This is definitely not a problem unique to this campground, but both times they gave us the wrong directions to our site. Both times we were in the block between Rd. C and Rd. D, and they told us to drive down C. If you do that there are 2 problems. 1, the site numbers are visible from Rd. D, and 2, you have to back in, which isnt really a problem, except it defeats the purpose of a pull-through... I suggest you just look at the map, the sites are all angled, so you can tell which road you should go down. But in case the campground reads this, I really suggest you get someone who actually drives a big rig to give the employees a little training, because it could cause accidents, especially with newer campers who dont know better.

2022-06-27Cool campground. We were just about right next to train, Train every few hrs but did not blow horn til mile or two away so could barely hear it. Rumble of the engines and clatter of cars tho. Pool hrs annoyed me, should be open anytime during daylight for adults at least. They have lifeguards when its open. We liked the campsite lot 99 by train, big an lots of space. Lots of nearby bath an shower buildings. Bathrooms n showers appeared nice and clean. Was very busy on weekend, lots of campers moved out for weekdays.

2022-04-26Nothing bad to say about this park. Staff was super nice and respectful. Site was wide and tree covered. We were there for easter weekend and the park had age group specific egg hunts and the girls really enjoyed it. The shuttle to Hershey park was awesome as well.

2022-06-16We were trying to find sites near York but had waited a bit late in making reservations so had issues finding a place to park the RV for an extended period. We ended up staying near Gettysburg for 3 weeks (see the review of Round Top Campground) and Hersheypark for two weeks. We stayed in the Carousel section. We dont really enjoy amusement parks so didnt go into Hersheypark, but did enjoy Chocolate World, the zoo, and trolley rides.Overall, this is a lovely campground. Its abundant shade trees are very picturesque and keep things cool even on warmer days (satellites wont work). It was also surprisingly quiet considering the number of children running around. Its a bit on the pricey side but understandable based on all the amenities - which includes a shuttle to and from Hersheypark. They have a stocked store, checkin was easy and the staff is very friendly. The park itself is extremely well maintained with staff constantly riding around in their golf carts picking up debris and collecting trash. Theres also cabins available for non-campers or family gatherings. The only complaint I had is the ability to maneuver in the campground. This is obviously an older park and not really designed to handle the larger campers being used today. The drives are narrow and the campsites are a little tight. Theres very little space to park vehicles so folks were having to park parallel in front of their campers. When there are trucks parked on both sides of the drive, its difficult for larger RVs to pull in or get through. We had a difficult time pulling in due to vehicles parked across from us so ended up parking at a slightly different angle. Since there were no campers on each side didnt realize it until other campers parked on our row. Later witnessed someone having to back out the entire way as they were trying to leave because they couldnt pass through all the vehicles at the end of the drive.Suggestions:1 - Paint lines or add colored rocks between sites that need it to provide demarcation.2 - Put up dog poopy stations throughout the campground so that folks are more inclined to pick up after their pets. Saw several piles while walking our dog on the grassy hill next to the campsites.3 - Might be worthwhile to take out a couple of less than desirable campsites and add parking for pull or tow vehicles.Would we recommend the campground? Yes - but only if they were headed to Hersheypark. Would we stay here again? Doubtful - unless we were meeting up here with family.

2022-02-05My family and I enjoyed staying here, having the bus arrive every hour or every 15 mins (cant remember which it was) taking us to and from the park was very convenient. The information center on the campground has a store that sells anything and everything you could need while camping. An arcade that helped to occupy the kids, my daughter and niece adored the arcade because they were able to win fidget toys. There are also 24hr restrooms available for men and women that included showers. A playground located in a beautiful setting next to the boat ramps was my favorite place to sit and enjoy the atmosphere! I highly recommend Hershey park camping resort to anyone planning a trip to Hershey! Also I’d like to mention you need a camper or Rv for this resort, You cannot pitch a tent here.

2022-05-05We stayed here for a week while visiting PA and Hersheypark. This place was outstanding. Supermarket, restaurants, liquor stores all nearby (walking distance). Staff is very helpful and the camp is family oriented. Overall it was a great stay.

2022-06-25Mostly open sites. Not much privacy. But it worked well as a resting place in between our adventures. Plus preferred pricing to attractions and extra hours at Hershey Park are a big bonus

2022-05-22Sites are close together, and the roads are very tight and narrow. Doesn’t really seem to be easily accessible for campers. Most sites on carousel circle are tight and have no grass they are mostly gravel. I wouldn’t call this a resort by any means. The pool was closed apparently they don’t open until Memorial Day. This was basically just a place to park our RV that was close to Hershey Park. Hershey Park is about 7 minutes up the road. The train does run all night long and does blow its horn often which you can easily hear on carousel circle. You can feel the rumble of the train. The general store has basic necessities and some souvenirs to purchase. There are some grassy areas to walk your dog depending on where you are located. I would recommend getting an end spot if you have the option. The campground is not gated and easily accessible to anyone. Pet friendly. No amenities and they do not do golf cart rentals. Shopping, gas, and food places with 5 minutes of the campground(5 below, tj max, big lots, 5 guys, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, pizza hut, Panera, Sheetz-gas station, and a few other restaurants. The campground does have a laundry room, but cannot comment on that as we didn’t utilize this. General store was nice but on the pricey side-they sell some food and drinks. Staff seems to be friendly but limited info was given at checkin. Make sure you have your ID handy as they will ask for this at checkin. They do come around and pickup your trash if you leave on your campsite-just unsure of the times as this info was not provided at time of check in. There is a trolley that runs and will take you to Hershey Park. Picnic table and fire pit on each lot, nothing fancy just super close to other campsites. Tents are not allowed on campsites, nor is there enough room. There is room for one vehicle and your camper depending on the size-ours is a 32ft and we had to park sideways with our truck. Can’t say that I would stay here again it’s definitely not on my top list of campgrounds.

2022-05-12HERSHEYPARK Camping Resort is always a great choice to get back to nature but not to close. The facilities are top notch with fire pits, cabins, pool, and Lazy River. The staff is incredibly nice and provides all the support you need. There are spaces for hookups, just tent camping, and glamping in one of their cabins. There is even a creek that runs by to enjoy. This is also near shopping centers and HERSHEYPARK but you would never know when you are in the resort.
