Positive: Hotel staff was very friendly looks like a updated location. Negative: guest not wearing mask burned my skin I wouldn¿t care if you vaccinated or not I work in healthcare and this virus is moving through the vaccinated at this moment. when having breakfast like that everyone should be wearing mask people are just nasty.
Thank you to this hotel for hosting my family during our wedding weekend! They reserved the entire 3rd floor for us. The front desk associates were very pleasant and accommodating. Anything we needed, they helped us with. When my husband and I wouldnt be there for check in to our honeymoon suite because our wedding was at the same time, they took our luggage to the room for us while we were out, so that when we came back it was already in our room. They allowed us to have late check out both Saturday and Sunday. The breakfast was also very good! I was very pleased. The rooms were great! Very comfortable. And their body wash, shampoo, and conditioner were the nice big bottles. We got a conference room for the reception dinner, and it was big and lovely. The entire hotel is very nice with ample parking. I was very pleased with this hotel and proud to host my family there. It was 15 minutes with traffic to our venue, Salvatores. The only issue was the staff changes, where the staff we were dealing with in the planning of our weekend would quit and not leave any notes for the new staff, and wed have to start all over. However, in the end, it all worked out perfectly. I am happy with this hotel.
Overall great experience. Best Ive had in a long time.Great staff. Rachel was a new employee but handled herself like a pro whenever I needed something. I wouldnt have known she was new until she told me. Very clean, fairly comfy beds, good food for the price. Loved how they let you take food out in a to-go bag!
This was my second visit for a family funeral. The hotel sanitation was outstanding. Everything was spotless. Check in and out was quick and well organized. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was very clean and quiet, housing staff were friendly and highly responsive. Coffee bar and breakfast were excellent, well stocked, fresh, and pleasing.Only recommendation is to insure excercise room light stays on when being used. Also, if possible, reward points could be more user friendly. If a repeat customer, point total should automatically appear on Holiday Inn reservation website. Twice now I have had to open up a separate IHG point account which seldom works, nor provides a total for rewards.
On the night we arrived when we were going to bed we noticed a yellow stain on the sheet so we slept on the top sheet. The Monday morning @ 9:00 AM I went to the front desk and told the female at the front desk; she never apologized or seemed concerned and just gave me a sheet to fill out to have them change the sheets. We returned at 3:50 PM and the sheets were not changed, so I was heading to the front desk when I saw a maid and told her about the sheets; she checked her paperwork and said she did not have it on her schedule. She said she was clocking out but could get me the sheets so I said OK. She came to our room and handed me the sheets and my wife and I changed the sheets. Tuesday morning, I stopped by the front desk and gave the same female clerk my completed cleaning request for full service of my room on Wednesday she took and said nothing. Well the room was never cleaned during my 5-night stay and I had to get fresh towels every evening and the garbage and towels piled up.We had the smoke detector start cherping every 15 seconds the morning of Tuesday afternoon and I reported again to the same female clerk. Well as with everything else nothing was done. So I hit the test button and it went off. Every 10 hours the chirping would go off even waking us up at 2 AM.We have stayed at this hotel numerous time over the past years and 4 times in the last 2 months and this has been the worst experience
I did not rate the breakfast, because it was not put out yet when I left. According to the time, it should have been, but was not. Other than that, this was a great place to stay for the one night business trip I was on. The nice lady that checked me in that night was great! Looking forward to coming back here the next time I am in the area.
Stayed at this hotel for one night on a trip to Kennywood. The location was convenient, check-in was easy (even late at night when we arrived), and the room was spacious and clean. My only complaint is that the locked, refillable bottle of shampoo in the shower was empty. I made do with just conditioner, but it comes off as incredibly cheap to not give out little bottles of shampoo, etc. like hotels typically do. If that simple detail was overlooked by housekeeping, what other hygiene protocols may be missed as well?
My recent stay was great. The hotel staff was wonderful and seemed to always have a smile. The only issue I had was that I’m an IHG member and even though I booked through a different website the front desk was not aware that they could still apply my membership to my stay. Other than that it was a great stay.
The staff and room was great. There were only a couple of items that I couldnt give excellent marks across the board. Upon arrival we werent informed of the change in when/how they clean the rooms. We found this out when we arrived back at the hotel room our second day and the room wasnt cleaned. I went to the front desk to mention this and they informed me of the COVID policy in place. You have to mark, on a pre-printed sheet, the items you want yaken care of in the room. If we were informed when we arrived, i would have given a little better rating. The other item was breakfast. This I can somewhat understand because of COVID. Everything else was great.
We stay at this hotel every time we visit family. This hotel has been under construction for some time and it really looks great. The lobby is bright and inviting and the room was clean. There are a few minor things that still need fixed like a missing lock on the bathroom door or the main door lock was loose, etc. The staff was super friendly and despite this temporary normal we live in, the hotel exceeded expectations regarding cleanliness, attitude and performance. We did choose to skip the grab and go breakfast, however, as we normally prefer a hot breakfast, but it was great to see they were still able to give a breakfast offering at this time. Bravo!!
Positive: thought the room was comfortable (plenty of nice pillows)! Check in was a breeze! Breakfast attendant was on her game and friendly! would stay there again. Would probably do contactless express checkout next time! Negative: Would do contactless express checkout next time.
Nicely renovated rooms but poor service. Manager is trying hard to train but like everywhere else this is short staffed. Breakfast folks were kind. Limited choices. Covid protocols were followed. Requests were unmet. My daughter had to change her sons bed post bathroom accident. (Kids were 1-3-5) she informed front desk. Nothing happened 12 hours later. She was given towels and sheets to change the bed! Very disappointed.
Positive: The staff at the hotel is nice. The location has a lot of different food options around. Negative: The door to 419 wouldn¿t close right, it looked like someone had kicked or broken in. The door had cracks all around the handle, and it didn¿t make you feel too safe. There was also red stains all over the floor, and white stains all over the desk c
On arrival staff was quick on check in and met my needs. Room was very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean was large with plenty of hot water. At bed time the bed was very very comfortable which is most important. The room temperature was maintained at the setting with no issues and the outside noise was quiet. Parking was satisfactory and letting walking distance.
Upon arrival the tv did not work. Someone came to the room and asked if we cared that she wasn’t wearing a mask. We did. Then we found poop stains on the bedding. We were given another room that had different stains (beverages I hope). Overall, very disgusted by the stay and the lack of apologies and compensation. Clearly the bedding is not being cleaned. Toilet paper rolls in both rooms had been sued before.
The best hotel I have ever been to all year an shout out to coral that guy had the best attitude an humble when we first got there had a problem with our room card 2 times an he handle the situation so good thank you coral for everything made our stay so comfortable my family enjoyed there selves here
Positive: Location was good. Room was clean and  the front desk was very nice. Negative: Not sure whose fault it was but hotel didn¿t have reservation when we arrived. Took over two hours to get straightened out. This was unacceptable! So far nothing has been done for compensation.
Solid good experience, Arrived late afternoon to very welcoming staff, the place was wide open design very clean, they put me in the lower levels with good street access and parking access, I’d like to have a little more variety and breakfast especially a waffle maker but overall great experience
Positive: Nothing. There was no hospitality and management was hostile. Negative: The general manager was egregiously rude, confrontational, disrespectful and racist to me and my guest. I was wrongfully accused of smoking, kicked out, forced to cancel my current reservation and threatened to be charged extensive fees.
They don’t have rooms available at check in time. Instead, we arrived over an hour after the advertised check in time to find a group of angry people that had reserved rooms not getting them. We didn’t get our room until after 630pm. And after we decided not to wait in the lobby, the employee said he would contact us and didn’t. We had to go back in and ask. Breakfast will also put you into a diabetic coma. It’s all pre packaged sugar. We weren’t told until the second morning that there were more options available at the desk. Employee communication with guests is a big problem here. If rooms aren’t ready until 630pm, then set that as your check in time. If you are only able to have x number of rooms available, then stop taking reservations when you hit that number. And I didn’t even get into how they were handing out rooms they did eventually have in order of when people made their reservations. The whole experience was bizarre. We stayed at three other hotels in the state on this vacation and this was the only one we had this kind of problem at.
The room is clean, the staff is super friendly!! I would live there if they let me!! Haha! Seriously great place to stay! Beds are soft, Cable TV is awesome ( u get the premium channels) not just basic like some hotels! Then in the morning they feed you breakfast 😋 What more could you ask for in a hotel??
The staff were wonderful here! We arrived early and they upgraded our room to one that was already clean so that we could settle in. The room was so spacious- a dividing wall between the bed and living areas, each with their own TVs! Breakfast was delicious and the all day availability of coffee/tea and drinks/cookies was a nice touch. Construction on the main floor prevented the gym from being open which we didnt know beforehand. That disappointed us. A heads up ahead of our arrival would have been nice (who wants to bring gym clothes on vacation if theyre not gonna use them?).
We stood in the lobby for thirty minutes before having to call the police. The front desk worker was asleep in the back and didn’t hear any of us (there was a total of about 14 in the lobby) yelling for him, ringing the bell, knocking on the door, or asking for help. We also asked for a conference room and was told that he would look into it. Four times he was asked. We never got an answer. Our group asked for rooms close to one another. We were all so spread out between the hotel and on completely different floor and opposite ends.
I did a weekend stay here for two nights. They are currently undergoing some renovations, so some mess is to be expected with that. They have a sign up saying this and asking guests to excuse the mess. I give them credit for this. The room was very nice, but could have been laid out a little bit better. I had a single king bed, but the TV was offset from the bed and a bit small if you are someone that would like to watch TV in bed at night. I was out late at night, so that wasnt a big deal to me. Otherwise, the room was great! The shower could use a little more water pressure, but I say that about every hotel Ive ever used. The only real complaint I had about the room was the door. If you let it close by itself, it would slam with a loud enough bang to wake the dead. I tried to be courteous as I was coming in later at night, but other guests were not so nice. The breakfast was the best I have ever had at any hotel!
Decent stay, They are remodeling and improvements are needed. Room was supposed to be a newly remodeled room and our tub appeared to have been an original install (Tub was clean but very old and discolored). Room was comfortable but no USB ports in the room and power strips everywhere. Had issues entering the room and mentioned it to the staff. Lady apologized and informed me the construction crew had installed the door mechanisms upside down so they are awkward to operate at first. Like I mentioned nice place but needs things fixed and every other Holiday Inn I have been at had USB ports in multiple places so you could charge your electronic devices without having to have a power adapter for your cord. Over all a nice facility and will look great when completed. Still a great value and breakfast was awesome !
Clean...but no maid service, no replacement coffee k cups, and instead of cooked free breakfast like I was expecting, we got a brown bag with water, prepackaged muffin and granola bar...all said due to covid 19...another example of customer service going to hell...and you guessed it, no discounted price. But like I said, the ROM was very clean and comfortable. The one single staff member at the front desk was friendly and helpful also.
Beautiful interior…Very Clean…Spacious Room…Good ValueI was planning to sleep in but was awakened at 6 am by a strange noise coming from the bathroom area. I think it was the pipes from the shower being used upstairs. It continued for 10 minutes. The end of my plans to sleep in !
This hotel is still being renovated and the room I had was not one that was updated. The bathroom was very small and tight. My stay was over a weekend and I must say that the maid service is not up to par on the weekends. Coffee was not left one day and the other day no sugar or creamers. The floor was not vacuumed either day and for the beds they only pulled the blankets up and that was it. Not the usual tidiness and cleanliness you expect at this hotel. The breakfast was very good with a good variety as well as the presentation.
The appearance of the place was very clean the rooms were clean. Everything was very quiet there for my stay. And the food was great. It could have been a little more. Choices at the breakfast bar But all in all everything was very good. I stayed at a Holiday Inn Expresses before.
What you would expect from an Express stay. Convenient location next to Allegheny County Airport. Clean, renovated rooms. The breakfast has been reduced to a brown bag with a single muffin, snack bar, and bottle of water due to pandemic concerns which is dissapointing.
I was visiting my granddaughter in West Mifflin and I stayed at your hotel and the woman behind the desk (Seirra) ..Went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. My daughter had passed away from Covid-19 and Seirra was so sympathetic and helpful - I left my very expensive Samsung phone behind after I checked out and she personally went into the room I was staying in and hunted it down for me. Like WOW who even does that anymore?? Apparently she did and I tried to reward her with a cash donation and she refused it and said Please Mr.Trainer thats my job As if you all pay her to locate my lost expensive phone! You do not but wow what a classy move! I know if I was running a hotel I would make Sierra in charge of it BECAUSE this woman obviously takes pride and ownership in her work. Thank you very much Sierra for such a pleasant stay at The Holiday Inn Express West Mifflin!
From check in, to throughout the stay, this was my worst HI Express experience ever. There was one bright spot, the young man working the desk, late afternoon on 1/1/19,Who worked hard to do everything in his power to make up for his other coworker’s failures. Even upgraded my room to a suite, the last night, when the cleaning staff did not clean the room from the night before. Now for the problems. There were many, from small to large, so I may forget some. -IHG Rewards members are supposed to be greeted, and thanked, on check in. We were not.-The hotel was virtually empty, for my entire 3 night stay, but was not offered an upgrade, despite being a Platinum member. (There were multiple suites available.)-Breakfast staff did not have the pancake maker working all 3 mornings. They did not have the warm oatmeal the first and third morning, and did not have the Cinnamon buns out the first morning. (Not just for the time being, but the warmer was never turned on, or dirtied.)Obviously these three items take the most to clean up. Staff couldn’t be bothered. -Room was only partially cleaned after the first night, bed not made, and toiletries not replaced. - Room was not cleaned at all after the second night! Spoke to the previously mentioned desk clerk, who said everyone except one cleaning person called out for the day! Worst yet, the manager was no where to be found@4:15pm. With a hotel in this bad condition, the manager should have been on-site, cleaning rooms if needed. -Most of the staff lacks motivation, except for the one bright spot. With a manager who is absent when the hotel is in crisis, it is no wonder.
The hotel was being renovated and they had overbooked our King plus a pullout bed. They found a room for us with two queen beds, which was my preference but had been unavailable at booking. The room was brand new and very nice. The toiletries were very nice, as well as the decoration, bedding, carpeting, etc in the room. It was very clean and comfortable. The breakfast had a great variety.
It has been several years since I stayed at this hotel and I was pleasantly surprised by how much the appearance had improved. It is obvious they are spending money to improve this property. The breakfast was a considerably better than the last time I stayed here, with a very attentive staff. The front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the lights they have installed in the bathrooms are mounted too low on the walls. I am 6 feet tall and I had to bend over to be able to see myself in the mirror to shave. If they raised the lights about 6 inches, they would be fine.Overall, I was very pleased with the hotel.
We stay in this hotel often when visiting family. We have always had a good experience despite ongoing renovations. This time we were quite disappointed with the breakfast choices. There just needs to be a bit more variety when it comes to the cooked eggs. The only options were a western omelet or an egg white western omelet. An offering of plain eggs would be great for people who do not like this style or for children who like plain eggs.
Check in was fast and smooth. I felt that the staff were courteous and personable. The room was comfortable and actually quite spacious; at least larger than some other Ive been in. The fitness center is equipped with a treadmill, stationary bike, and elliptical machines. It wasnt very big, but then again I was alone the entire time so perhaps it is suitable for the average guest. The breakfast offerings were delicious.
We had a great stay at this resort for the Christmas holiday weekend. The lobby is lovely and nicely decorated. The daily breakfast was excellent and the evening cookies and beverages was a nice touch. The room sizes were above average and gave you space to move around and not feel cramped. The staff were excellent. Jeff, the GM, and Daniel in the dining area were great ambassadors for this hotel and they made our stay comfortable.I would stay here again and recommend it.
It would have been nice to know that the hotel was undergoing renovation when we made the reservation. Lobby was filthy and covered in dry wall dust. No hot water in the room on second day of the stay. Bathroom was clean, however bath tub looked 20 plus years old. Beds and pillows were comfortable, however the rest of the furniture in the room was old, stained, and in poor condition.
Excellent staff and great full breakfast. The bed was average/firm. Everything seemed clean. There wasnt any place to sit in the room except the desk chair and bed. The room was a bit tight for ADA/wheelchair. Due to the sink backsplash and mirror, it wasnt possible to plug the hairdryer in. There wasnt a nightlight or exhaust fan in the bathroom.
Right at the moment it is under renovation and doesnt live up to the pictures. No pool😭. The elevators have a not so pleasant smell. The beds however are very comfortable and the rooms are very clean. As long as they have bacon every morning its a place I will probably stay at again.
It wouldve been nice to know that the hotel was under construction prior to booking. This was my worst experience in any hotel. We were unable to enter our room due to nonstop key issues. The floor we were on was the one under construction. We were awaken to hammering sounds at 9am. The heating/ac unit worked but the front covering was off. However, it took a good while for the room to get warm due to the size of the room and the heating system being in living room area rather than the sleeping area. All this to be refunded $30. Had I not been 5 hours from home, I wouldve left... Despite this disaster of a stay, the staff members were very nice.
This past weekend my family traveled to the area for our family reunion. Upon arrival, we were greeted pleasantly by Ray at the front desk. He informed us that our rooms were ready in advance of the 3:00 p.m. check in. That small gesture was wonderful since we had traveled more than 300 miles by car. Our daughter had checked in the night before and informed us that the rooms were nice. The free breakfast was sufficient enough though on the last morning of our stay, my husband went to brerakfast later than I. No other cheese omelettes were brought out in time for him to partake. However, Shay was quite helpful in general as was the other staff on duty whose name I fail to remember even with the badge that she wore. The banquet area that we had use of was large enough to accomodate all of us. Ray was very helpful in addressing the needs of which I was aware. The rooms were very good. I have not heard one complaint from any of the family regarding the accomodations.Thank you. We had a great time!
The property and the room were below what weve come to expect from a Holiday Inn Express in terms of cleanliness.Staff we came in contact with was very polite and hospitable.I think you need to step up the housekeeping because, while you are a cheaper option than others in the area, there is a price point where we would choose cleanliness instead.
We were not pleased with this location. This location was in the middle of reconstruction, so there seemed to be a lot of issues because of this. When we checked in, the room was clean and fine. We stayed two nights. The next morning we left for the day, expecting our room to be cleaned and beds made when we got back, but all housekeeping did was replenish towels, nothing cleaned and beds were not made. That was disappointing. So, the morning of check out we go downstairs for breakfast, and there was no breakfast. They explained that they were locked out of the room to retrieve the breakfast items. Really? So, we left, dropped the room keys off at the front desk and we got no apology or ‘how was your stay?’, we did get a ‘thank you’. But no apology for no breakfast? Quite irritating. We do not recommend this location.
Staff friendly, room was clean, up-to-date, and comfortable, and the public parts of the hotel were the same. Breakfast was better than I expected - pre-fab omelete, but of better quality and tasty, and lots of choices. Only complaint was bathroom design - the ceiling is low (Im 6, there was less than 1 of headroom in the shower - really tall folk take note). But my real complaint is bad choice and placement of the light fixture in the bath - the light fixture above the mirror was large (height
We chose this location for its proximity to Kennywood. Upon entering the room at an early morning hour after a very long day of flights, we decided to overlook the fact that we didnt get the preferences (like two beds) we requested and our room smelled musty. We were undressed and in bed when we realized there were multiple hairs in the room and bathroom that were not ours. The following morning when I went to change the temperature on the AC unit, I found myself standing on water soaked carpet. Coming back from breakfast we found a surprise cricket on our bed. The staff was not informed until we were checking out and they handled the situation beautifully. The breakfast staff was amazing as was the food offered.
Because of COVID-19, they have ready to go sandwiches, yogurt, and milk for free at A L L hours of the day! Its 10 PM and I just had breakfast, life is great. The bed is like a cloud, the bathroom smelled fresh and clean, and our room was just perfect! The staff is helpful and friendly, and I will stay here again.
Contractors and other guests were walking around the public areas without masks in plain view of the hotel staff. The receptionist at the desk did not put on a mask until I made it clear that I would not approach the counter until she did.The ceiling of the bathroom was moldy. The wifi is very slow. The ethernet cable they provided did not work.
Staff was great - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. What a treat to have turkey sausage and veggie omelets as an option! No.waffle maker, but my husband enjoyed the pancake maker as an alternative. The only negative we experienced was in housekeeping. We left out at 11:30am and returned at 5pm to an unmade room. The front desk manager (whose name totally escapes me!!!) immediately responded to our complaint with fresh towels and an offer to make up the room, himself. We declined, but appreciated the effort. Aside from that incident, everything else was great.
Was fairly disappointed in this stay as there were many instances the hotel staff could not satisfy. Such as very high heat 100 degrees in the fitness room, could not produce laundry soap, could not accommodate any silverware or plates. And when i asked for the room to be clean multiple days in a room, they only made the bed and did not change sheets, resupply towels and did not take out the garbage
The hotel was fine. It met all my needs. There was a dryer sheet on the carpet in my room. That was a little strange. The bed was very comfortable. I had to put a towel over the clock radio and the lights on the microwave because they were a little bright at night while trying to sleep. It would be nice if the hallway lights would dim at night also. The room temperature was great and having the fan on all night drowned out all the hallway noise. The breakfast selections were good, but could have been a little hotter.
The staff at this hotel were wonderful. They recommended a restaurant that was great. The rooms need updating but was told they are getting ready to do so. The heater in the room was noisy when we got there but they sent a maintenance guy up while we were at dinner and took care of the problem. The rooms could use a few more outlets for phone chargers but were very clean for the age of the hotel. The breakfast area was very nice with a good selection. I would recommend this hotel to others. Wouldnt mind seeing some rooms converted to showers instead of tubs while they are remodeling. Once updated should be a very nice hotel with a great staff.
Only disappointment of the room was we were not aware that room was not to be cleaned and fresh towels provided on a daily basis. That left food in the trash for almost 24 hours and made the room quite aromatic. We the found out that trash needed to be put in the hallway and we had to request fresh towels
Stayed for 4 nights. The sink in my room took 5 - 7 minutes to drain. I requested it be fixed twice a day (every morning and every night) for my entire stay. It was never fixed. My room was never cleaned - NOT ONCE. I requested every night and morning that it be cleaned - it never was. I was out of the room from 8AM - 8PM everyday (and no, I didnt leave the do not disturb sign on). Each day I was met with a different excuse. Housekeep is new. Housekeeping said they cleaned your room today. Housekeeping quit today. There are no Housekeeping supervisors here. Whatever. It got so bad that on the third night, I went down to ask for clean towels and TOILET PAPER as I had run out of both during my stay! With the exception of the nice lady who took care of the breakfast bar, the hotel staff was overall unable to resolve any of the issues in my room. OH - and in all the times I spoke with the various front desk staff (in person), the day I checked out (when I didnt get my bill) was the first time that someone noted that I was a platinum member. She asked why I wasnt upgraded when I checked in?!? Save yourself some time and aggravation and stay somewhere else ...
It was great to get away from home for a couple of nights and come to stay at the holiday inn. We had no issues and it was extremely peaceful. There was very little interaction with anyone making us feel safe and comfortable about our health during this tragic pandemic.
I was in town with my elderly parents for a funeral. Front desk clerk gave us closest room on first floor and answered all questions knowledgeably and politely. Housekeeping staff agreed to a checkout time later than any of us expected so that mom and dad would have a place to stay in lieu of going to the interrment. All items were available for breakfast and staff asked several times if there was anything that they could do or get for us. Room was very nice and very clean. Hotel and staff met and exceeded all expectations.
The staff was very friendly and breakfast was fine. I stayed in room 417. I called the hotel a day after my stay to warn them about the bed bugs so they wouldnt book someone else into that room. I told them that I was woken up by itchy arms that I initially thought was from dry skin but bites later appeared. They claimed that their housekeeping staff would look into it but no one followed up with me.
The room looked like it had just been remodeled. The carpets were new and pretty. I liked having the couch in the room which I didn’t expect. The King bed was comfortable. The only thing I would’ve preferred was a light-weight blanket instead of a comforter . The comforter was very warm but the sheet wasn’t quite enough to cover with.
We stayed at the hotel to be close to the venue of a holiday gathering. We were pleasantly surprised to find the lobby so festive for the holidays. The fireplace was absolutely stunning! The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was cozy and comfortable. The hot breakfast was awesome with lots of choices. Great experience overall!
The room and bed were clean but the trash had not been emptied in the bathroom. The toilet and sink faucet were very loose. My room was also missing a dark curtain, so the bright parking lot lights were shining in my room at night. Overall not a terrible hotel room, but there is room for improvement.
Stayed here for a family reunion in July 2019. Room located on the front of the property. Curtains and blinds did not cover the light shining into the room. The toilet ran thorough out the night, unless you jiggled the handle after flushing. Overall, bad experience but Ive seen worst. Hard to recommend after this stay. Seek elsewhere if possible.
The location is in a dark unwelcoming area. Building is very outdated for sure. We were greeted at all by the lady who checked us in. Also she never told us anything regarding breakfast, WiFi, or any features. You walk inside and its just a big space with white walls. Most IHG hotels have warm welcoming decor. Bathroom door was old and off track. Very disappointed.
The entire hotel is nice and clean with no objectionable tobacco odors. The staff members are all courteous and friendly. The breakfast is good with a nice variety. If the bathrooms had blower fans that would be nice, but I dont want to nitpick. This is a fine hotel and a good value.
The staff was great both at check in and check out. We couldnt connect my points when I checked in but got it done upon check out. The bed and pillows were amazing. Breakfast and the breakfast staff were great. We could of used more than 2 shower towels but overall the stay was great.
My husband and I wasted a lot of points by staying at the Pittsburgh West Mifflin Holiday Inn Express! We were visiting our hometown and family for ten days and wanted to make use of our points. --Our room had to be the smallest one in the place, and we are used to being upgraded because of my Spire Elite status. --The tub/shower was so small that we were constantly bumping our elbows while showering. There was very little space to put toiletries on the sink, and the clothes cabinet was totally lacking in enough room for our clothes.--On the first day, our TV did not receive any of the local stations until someone at the desk realized that a technician did not download the necessary upgrade from a thumb drive. Then the next day, the entire hotel was without any TV because their poor performing cable company did a pitiful job fixing the problem. This did not make our evenings very relaxing! On the good side, the maids were very nice and made sure we had extra fresh towels every day. They were friendly when we encountered them anywhere in the hotel, and kept our room nicely. The breakfast every morning was very good, with a variety of eggs, meats and bread and pastries available. There were two people, a young man and an older woman who were especially kind and friendly. We only got a newspaper at our door on the first day, but thankfully there was a supply of papers in the dining room. Since Pittsburgh is our hometown, we were happy to keep up with the news, especially when the TV was not working. The next time we travel to Pittsburgh to visit family, we will look elsewhere for a hotel that will not make us regret our membership in IHG!
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for an overnight after staying at a horrible other hotel the night before. Staff was very friendly and welcoming and the cleanliness and amenities were by far superior to the previous hotel. Room was comfortable and the lounge and reception areas were relaxing. Breakfast was more than expected and had a full breakfast and quite good. Check in and out was very quick and again staff were friendly at check out.
We stayed here while visiting family. Our experience was great. The staff was very friendly and attentive. When we checked in, they confirmed with us our request for a crib and immediately arranged for a crib to be brought to our room. When we got to our room, they were there setting up the crib, something that we have never experienced in the past as it usually took a few minutes for a crib to be brought to our room. The beds were comfortable and I really dont recall any noise. The breakfast options were better than I thought they would be. Overall I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a friendly and comfortable place to stay.
My mom and I stayed here the night before my wedding, and then we got ready with my bridal party. We had a suite, and it was a little snug for 7 gitls, me, my mom, my mother in law, aunt, and two make up artists, but it worked out well for us! The staff was very accommodating, and friendly! Which is always a plus at any establishment. The bed was very comfortable! The room was very clean! I really have no complaints!
Stayed here about a year ago and when I arrived this time I noticed that some changes have been made. Mostly what I saw were changed to the breakfast area. New steam stations for the hot food, all new food display/serving areas and a great variety of items to choose from. The room was just as comfortable as I had remembered from past visits so I wasnt disappointed. :) The new owner made the changes and he did a wonderful job!I will return again, and again.
This hotel is literally right across the street from the Allegheny County Airport, which was perfect for the event I was attending. Room was in good condition, but surfaces (desk, end tables, etc.) were pretty dusty. Everything else was great. Will definitely stay here again next time I attend an event at the airport.
We were in town for a family function and had a difficult time finding available rooms. We were afraid this hotel would be too noisy as it sits on a major highway across from an airport and had a lot of activity going on in the parking lot. We were pleasantly surprised to have a very quiet, restful night. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. We noticed in the morning that we had children right down the hall, but we never heard anything. After a good nights rest, we had an ample breakfast at the well equipped breakfast buffet with plenty of seating. Alyssa and Jake the desk clerks are helpful and friendly. I would stay here again.
The hotel was clean and well maintained. Staff was friendly and helpful. Fresh coffee, warm cookies at check in. Rooms were quiet, newly re-done. Television had a few local channels and a couple of the premium move channels. Was enough to keep my kids entertained. The breakfast is included. There is enough there so most in your party will find something to eat, but the selections are limited, even for a free hotel breakfast. If you have picky eaters, be prepared to go out for breakfast. There are plenty of restaurants close to the hotel.
My overall visit at the Holiday Inn Express was very pleasant. The staff was very friendly and helpful. At our stay at the hotel we had a problem with our bathroom. The front desk and maintenance department was very attentive and helpful with the issue we had. They helped us and fixed the issue we had. I would recommend the hotel to my family and friends.
The place is pretty bad. The staff is friendly but the room I got for my mother had mold in the tub and it look like someone wiped there rear on a towel that was supposed to be clean hanging from the towel bar. We moved my mother to a new room after we complained to the hotel staff. When we went to use the ice bucket in the new room, it was filled with moldy water. My room seemed to be clean but the faucet in the shower dripped constantly. I told the staff and a very friendly maintenance person came and looked at it. He said he needed to go put a work order in, get a part, and would be back in a bit. That was yesterday and my clean room wasnt cleaned yesterday nor visited at all the housekeeping.I do have to say that the breakfast is good and the woman that makes it is incredibly courteous and helpful.3 more days here. I hope I dont have to update this more.
Was very happy with the staff and all that Holiday Inn Express has to offer. Everyone is very polite and attentive to all your needs. The complimentary breakfast is always one of the high lights of my stay. There is always a wide variety of food to choose from to suit every ones taste or diet needs. The food is always good and the hot food is served hot. Always a selection of juices, cereals, muffins and alot of other choices.
The Property outside parking area needs to either blacktopped or refinished. The staff was very courteous helpful, and friendly during my stay. The front lobby staff treated me like a person and swiftly checking me in made sure they were accommodating to my every request. They were very helpful in reccommending good eateries and shopping areas in the close vicinity. There was one of the staff her first name was Debbie she was one of the staff helping at the breakfast area. She was very accommodating to our needs during the time of check out giving me good directions to the facility I was heading too.
My family has stayed at this hotel several times over the last 18 months. This time, the trip was disturbed in the middle of the night a couple of times by what was clearly some sort of incident going on in the middle of the night. In the morning, when we went to leave, found the car damaged and notified the hotel inside. Had to contact IHG corporate support to get followup support from hotel. Additional follow-up with hotel have not resulted in a satisfactory resolution to this point.
My stay was good. Aside from the construction, which I was aware of when I booked; the building was in great condition. I was never disturbed by any of the work that was being done, and the housekeeping staff was polite when they came to service my room. I can see myself staying at this location again.
Travel to this area often and stayed at another hotel...until recently. Love, love, love this property. Recently remodeled, great staff and the perfect location for my needs. The staff is always friendly and welcoming after a long day at work. Great breakfast in the morning and cookies at night. The housekeeping staff took good care of my daughters stuffed bunny that she packs to go away with me. Its the little things that make having to be away from home even more special. I so recommend this location! Hats off to the manager!
Nice place to stay. Very clean and nice polite staff. And the free breakfast is made daily and hits the spot on early mornings. They have a nice variety of food including eggs, sausage, oatmeal, bacon, pancakes, muffins, toast , etc. And anything you can think of for breakfast drinks. Coffee all day. Nice size rooms and I do believe a small gym, although I didnt make it down there lol
It was so noisy and it was difficult to regulate a comfortable temperature in the room. I may have gotten 3 hours of sleep which frustrated me. I had to do a 6 hour drive the next day which just magnified all of the problems. Further, our toilet would run continuously after someone flushed. Maintenance looked at it but didn’t fix it. With so many other choices, that was definitely the last time we will be staying there.
Outstanding.Ask the front desk staff about the quarter thats permanently stuck in the ground at the front desk .super awesome staff and facilities. All you need from the trusted IHG line of hotels.Close to stuff and covid safe.Always a pleasure to stay at Holiday Inn express.#roomstyle tea
The floor we stayed on though was under renovation. I guess we got one of the renovated rooms but there was dust and new stuff smell that made my nose stuffy. So I didnt sleep that well even though the bed was comfy. When you wake up at 3am and you dont want to wake your partner, you stream movies on your iPad, right? But the hotel had already turned off our wifi access. I wound up being grumpy. Partner was fine.
I used rewards points to stay at this property after participating in the annual Cupid’s Undie Run to help find a cure for Neurofibromastosis. Check-in was very smooth, and every GSA I encountered during my stay was extremely warm and friendly. Breakfast was exceptional, with many options to choose from - certainly one of the best out of the other hotels i’ve stayed at. Very pleased and will be back!
Even though you can tell this property is very dated the rooms were super nice and clean. As an old maintenance man for an IHG hotel I’m probably harder on each hotel I stay at because I tend to notice the little things. I had no trouble with anything and was very pleased to see my room in excellent condition and the bed was fabulous. Whatever this hotel does to keep an older building in this shape, I gotta say it’s working! Great Job folks!
During a recent stay in West Mifflin, we did have a recently remodeled room/bathroom which was very nice. They were having some problems with their cleaning of rooms as we arrived at 3:45 (for a 3:00 check-in) and the room was not yet ready. The staff was quick to shuffle us with a different reservation that had not yet arrived and all was good.Only negatives to the room was 2 used towels left hanging on the back of the bathroom door after room cleaning (I understand how they could have been missed) and the A/C which we had set fairly low since it was 90 that day, not coming on in the middle of the night and we woke up from the heat in the room.Overall, though, a good stay and one Id do again.
This hotel is not very good. Front desk staff ignored my stay preferences as an IHG Platinum member who requests a room away from an elevator, instead, my initial room was directly across from the elevators. When I walked into the room, the bathroom door was closed. It looked like the bathroom had not been cleaned since a previous guests stay. The room had the ice basket refreshed, but nothing else. After the unapologetic front desk worker moved me to another room, it was still subpar. Room was tired and damaged--it looked like a fist or two had hit the bathroom door, and the detachable shower was a nuisance rather than a convenience. Breakfast options and stock were far below expectation. Upon checkout, the general manger was at the front desk, and therein lies the problem. The management at this hotel is awful, and instead of trying to make things right, the general manager and housekeeping complained with each other about the staff. This hotel was probably one of the worst IHG properties Ive experienced, and Ive used them all over the world.
We stayed one night and it was acceptable. We did not spend much time in the hotel, but the time we did was ok. The room temp was hard to regulate. The heater was on the other side of the wall of the king bed suite. We had to turn it up pretty high. The breakfast was good.
Our first time staying at a Holiday Inn Express and I was so impressed. We were only in Pittsburgh for one day but, the treatment that we received from the moment of check in was outstanding. Gerri Lee at the front desk was so pleasant and friendly and Julie at the Breakfast room was very helpful in answering my grandsons questions on why the pancake machine wasnt working that day...that was ok tho because the Cinnabons made up for it. We are looking forward to visiting West Mifflin again soon and the Holiday Inn Express will definitely be our first choice!
Service was absolutely wonderful. The clerk at the check in desk was very helpful and helped us meet all of our needs. She want above and beyond our expectations. The rooms are average size but are kept spotless and they serve breakfast every morning and they have a little bit of everything. The only thing Is 8t didnt have a pool which was okay because We spent most of our time at Kennywood. We were very happy with our stay and will most definitely stay there again.
This hotel needs some work. I stayed while this hotel was going through some renovations which may have led to some of the glitches. When I checked into my room there was no toilet paper and the bathtub faucet was dislodged from the wall so the shower did not work. Of course I discovered this too late so I had to take a bath in the morning. The exercise room is not cared for at all. Towels were never available and the disinfectant wipes were empty. The door handle actually came off when I attempted to leave the room following my workout - no joke!
The bed was very comfortable and it was quiet in the hotel. Front desk staff friendly and helpful. Small elevator for taking luggage to room and small bathroom, but overall hotel was clean and comfortable. Did not have sheets or extra blanket in room for pull out sofa bed.
As a club member, I made a reservation online weeks in advance, only to have the front desk employee unable to find my keys ready and asking me if I had just made the reservation. I didnt say anything, but since I am a reward member, I always receive a little welcome bag with bottled water, snack or so forth but nothing was offered here. Once in the room, we quickly discovered the heat/a/c unit would not even turn on, which we informed the front desk who offered to change our room, but since we checked in late at night we did not want to have to pack back up and move rooms. When getting a shower, we discovered although there was a fan in the bathroom it did not work, so our room was extremely humid after a shower, with no way to move any air. At breakfast, there was a pancake machine which was empty. After looking around for an employee to ask, I finally found one sitting in the pantry room playing with her phone. Actually had to say something to get her to look up, and although she tried she was unable to successfully refill the pancake machine. Fast forward to morning number 2 (we only stayed 2 nights# and pancake machine was in the same state #no out of order sign or anything#, all 3 garbage cans in the breakfast area were completely full with an hour left of breakfast #we actually carried our garbage to our room for this reason), and all tables were uncleaned as well. My husband was so disgusted he left without breakfast. Overall, although we always try to stay at Holiday Inns when possible, we will not be staying in this one again, nor will we suggest it to others. After all of this, I also had to ask at the front desk for a receipt upon checking out, which is usually slid under the door, and seemed to be a hassle as well. Not a satisfactory experience in any area whatsoever. Extremely disappointed.
My family and I were pleasantly surprised from the moment we walked in the doors. We thought from the outside that perhaps we had made a poor choice when making our reservations. When we walked in we were blown away by how nice the interior of the hotel appeared. The girl that checked us in was super friendly and outgoing. We connected and talked for about five minutes before we made our way up to our gorgeous room. We had one small issue - not even worth mentioning because as soon as we called down to the front desk they had it fixed. I definitely recommend this motel.
This was the most unpleasant Holiday Inn Express I have ever stayed in. Upon check in I was given the key to my room #330 when we got to our room and opened the door the bed was unmade and cleaning supplies on the table. I returned to the front desk and asked for another room. The first words out of the desk person was the room not cleaned. I told him no it was not. He then upgraded my room to room # 431. I asked him if it was cleaned he said yes. After getting to our room my wife took a bath after which she told me there was black mold around the tub and tile. I told her thats nothing and opened the fridge where there was molding meat that was left by a former guest The housekeeping staff needs training on cleaning rooms and a supervisor needs to check the rooms before the are open for the next guest.
Thank you for a great check in and check out staff. Very knowledgeable and friendly. We were impressed by the size of the property. We were told it is on the schedule for updating which is a good thing as the carpeting in the halls had had some traffic. The Housekeeping in the room was good and the HVAC system was very good as well. We appreciate the stay
Really liked the staff. Pleasant, helpful, friendly. Lover the cookies in the front. A nice touch. Coffee was fresh. Breakfast staff did a great job.Pleasant, helpful. Kept the place clean, really hustled and still made sure to check the coffee. Room was clean, fitness center small. Room was a decent size for 2 bedroom queen. The place was nice. The staff, the open lobby area, the fresh coffee will all be reasons why I will return.
Due to the surroundings you would not expect the cleanliness and security of this hotel but I was surprised by the large lobby and friendly greeting from the staff. The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet. The beds were conducive to a great night of sleep. I would recommend this to everybody. It is a great location across the street from the airport.
The front end staff was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. The heater sounded like a jet engine and couldnt sleep. Had to turn off the heater in January. GOING NON SMOKING which is being discriminatory to tobacco users. Can I burn a smelly candle or burn incense in the room? Or is this consider smoking. Nice hotel but hard to get out of the parking lot.
One floor was completely disgusting but luckily I wasnt staying in that floor. I got off the elevator and it smelled like dirty diapers with ditty laundry sitting in the hall of most of the rooms. This was at 530 pm so the cleaning staff was probably gone for the day. The rooms were fine. What you would expect from this chain. Breakfast was good and staff was excellent when I checked in at 1 am. The disgusting third floor really turned me off to this hotel though.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable and breakfast for being quick fix, it was better than most others Ive had. I have never been as sattisfied with any of my previous stays as I have with this one, and all my previous for the most part were very good! Loved this place! I am looking forward to the next time I stay out there and will stay the the same hotel!
I have stayed here for several years while on business, this past stay will be my last. I need a receipt for expense report. I was told by hotel personnel that they do not give receipts to people who book through 3rd party systems??? I have always booked thought a company app that ties direct to my report.
The staff was awesome. I was asked to have a free upgrade at check in. Room was large and nice but it smelled musty. You would only notice when you would come back after being gone. Then you would get used to it. Not in the best neighborhood. Didn’t really seem unsafe just in a run down areas. And they had no pool guess I just didn’t check when I booked it.
Very friendly environment and atmosphere the clerks at the desk are one of a kind. Especially impressed with Alysa and her boss Dave. They all happened to know what we needed and when we needed it. Alysa called our room after we checked in and we had a problem with the sink she promised to get someone to our room and it was immediate that Dave had it fixed. We asked for good places to eat and Dave recommended a couple of places and slid directions to each of them under our door!! Great hotel. We will stay again!~
Upon arrival I was greeted by a friendly front desk. They said thank you for being an IHG member and apologized for the construction going on. They were updating rooms and halls. My room was as expected , and the king sized bed was awesome. Thank you for an always pleasant experience.
We arrived to no one working the desk. We waited twenty minutes from someone to come to the desk. She were moving someone due to an issue. Then she could not tell us if both our rooms were ready, and we didnt arrive until after 4:00PM. Our rooms were not ready after she took another walk, since no one would answer a radio. We were given an upgrade due to this, which as Spiral Elite I should have received anyway, but she did upgrade my sons family. I received no recognition at all for being a Spiral Elite member; however, I did receive welcome points yesterday without contacting the hotel. To be fair, the manager had just returned from being ill, and probably should have taken more time off. The rooms were old. but large and clean. The toilet was broken, but I fixed it myself. The hotel was average or even a little less, mainly because they really need more staff. They are also functioning without a general manager at present. If I am going to Kennywood again, which was fantastic btw, I would stay there again.
The actual facility was a bit tired but the staff made it a 5 star experience. The staff was friendly from the time we checked in. We were in West Mifflin for a funeral. The staff were hospitable when we were visiting in the lobby-from late afternoon until late evening. We felt welcomed and they did all they could to make us comfortable-even raising the thermostat when it got cold-it was extremely cold outside. There is nothing that the staff could have improved on. I travel a lot and have never had a better staff. I will return to this hotel if I am in the area again and would recommend this hotel to others. There was not one staff member who we met who did not go above and beyond to make our experience a great one.
I waited 10-15 minutes to return to the front desk, you would think there would be more than one staff member at the front desk. The attendant completed my check in rather quickly, she also signed me up for to your rewards program. She delivered the paperwork to me by sliding it under my door to save me any further hassle, which I thought was nice of her. Hotel parking lot was very poorly lit and no sign of any security personnel of any kind.We chose a standard queen room since we were going to be there for 10hrs at most. Every towel rack and holder in the bathroom was poorly installed, it felt like if you grab a towel to hard the whole thing would come crashing down. The same thing with TP holder and any other rack in the bathroom for that matter. Attention to detail is lacking, you would think theyd have a OCD guy like myself checking the quality of work there paying to have done in there establishments. Or, maybe they do and think that people dont care or dont notice.
I travel for a living, 300 days a year. 14 years. This hotel will never rank on my top 10. Its not supposed to, for what it is, its a great hotel, the staff are great, the room was clean and comfortable, you dont smell curry or cigarettes. I dont eat breakfast at hotels anymore but they have it. Internet was ehh at best but its a hotel.
The best thing about a Holiday Inn Express is that it is new and has a cleaner appearance. When converting a Holiday Inn to a Holiday Inn express, it is still a Holiday Inn, just with the express name attached to it. They forgot to put my requested refrigerator in my room and the heating/cooling system was re-worked and it would not work without pressing the reset button on the plug multiple times. The wall paper was also coming off the wall above the entertainment center. Next, the guy at the breakfast area needs some customer service training. I asked where the utensils were because I totally missed them and he said right there with a little bit of an attitude. I get they were pretty much in plain sight, but when someone misses it, dont give attitude; they are not on your property everyday. I think there needs to be some major updates made to the hotel. WiFi worked great and beds were comfortable, parking lot was well lit.
Visited with my 2 teenage grandchildren. We were very comfortable, lots of space in the room and bathroom was nice and clean. They loved having the breakfast in the hotel. So nice not to have to take them to find a place for breakfast. Saved so much time and allowed us to get to my sons house earlier to see my little grandson!
1 TV remote did not work. Had to perform magic to change channels.2 TV network extremely limited. Unable to watch MLB Pittsburgh Pirates home game (this property is in Pittsburgh). Shame.3 clock radio did not work. Again, no ball game.4 towel bar in bathroom fell off wall when touched. I would feel sorry for anyone attempting to grab this while exiting tub.5 there was trash in the bathroom trash can when we checked in.6 on check in, had to request another room. Bed was unmade in first room.7 outdoor area at entrance to building was not maintained. Weeds in gardens, mulch scattered across walkways, cigarette butts everywhere. Gave appearance of an unoccupied building.8 back in room, only one “regular” coffee K cup.9 Lamp on desk and coffee maker could not be plugged in, as the TV and microwave occupied the only electrical receptacle. Therefore, not possible to plug in a laptop at the desk, either.
I honestly believe the cleaning crew, pulled the sheets and comforters back, as if they replaced the bed with clean sheets and pillows cases. When you pulled back the comforter the bed was full of shedding hair and wrinkles. The bathroom shower was also full of hair and dirt as well as the sink. The toilet had a ring around it as if it hasnt been cleaned in weeks. The towels were set up for one guest only.Since, it was too late to change rooms we decided to call the front desk for more towels, but the phone in our room didnt work.
This hotel is being remodeled, so if you look past the seaming wall paper and some of the repairs being done, you will have a great stay. Breakfast was awesome, the room was comfortable, although I must admit I am a little upset as now my wife wants that type of bed for our home! :-)The staff was great and the stay was nice.
Holiday Inn Express has always been one of my first choices for a hotel when I have to stay out of town for business. This location was very convenient for my business in Clairton, PA area. There are lots of places to eat close to the hotel. Overall the hotel is a great place to stay, although some maintenance is needed. I stayed in Room 338 and noticed that the towel rack was falling off the wall and the countertop below the bathroom sink was falling off. The carpets were dirty if you walked around in your bare feet - noticed that when I jumped in the shower. The breakfast buffet is excellent, but they need to come up with a better way to provide hot water for tea drinkers and oatmeal. It seems like I was always asking them to fill up the hot water dispenser. The equipment in the fitness area was not useful to me. I enjoy running on a good treadmill but they dont have one. Thank you.
We stayed here during the Christmas week while visiting family in the area. It was a very safe, clean, and very comfortable stay. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very fresh and well presented. Even one night we returned to the hotel after a long day to find sweet tea and cookies in the lobby. Like they were left just for us. It is good to know that there is a great place to stay when we return to the area.Thank you!
The staff are what makes this place. The staff was attentive and helpful and did everything they could to make our stay pleasent. However our room was not very clean. From the unknown stain on the couch, the dirty carpet, the nasty soap scum and dirt covered shower, etc. I know its a hotel but it needs better housekeeping and a refresh.
Cleaning staff slam the doors of every room they clean. They allow the door to slam onto the security bar everytime they enter the room. They seem to do this at least a dozen times per room. I actually took video of this with sound as I could not believe how bad it was. I called the front desk and asked why they could not refrain from slamming the doors and they said they would take care of it. There was no change in their behavior. I will not stay at this property again.
This hotel across from the Allegheny County Airport is a great place to relax. The staff is very courteous and helpful and the overall vibe is very nice. Breakfast buffet was really good, with a nice variety. There is a good bar and restaurant just down the road and a 7-11 nearby as well. I am a runner and found only one treadmill in the fitness room, which was occupied both times I went to use it. One more treadmill would be great. Also the internet was a little slow for things like youtube, etc. Otherwise it was a great place to stay and I would return again, if in the area.
This is a great hotel to stay at for a few nights while visiting the city. The ambience is relaxing and rooms are updated with an appealing furniture layout that optimizes relaxation. TV channels are maximal, so everyone should find something to watch. Beds are not too firm or soft, and the pillows on the king-sized bed are a bit larger than standard pillows. Breakfast buffet has healthy conscious options as well as pastries and cereals.
All experiences here have been great, from the front desk personnel to the cleaning team. Each constantly asked if everything was satisfactory. The breakfast room was cheery and the selection outstanding. Note by the cleaning crew were cheerful, especially from Kelly. The room was cleaned early each day which was a plus. Would compliment all at this location.
We stayed two nights in this property. The first room we were in was shabby, no water pressure and had a broken hair dryer. We asked to be moved to a renovated room and was told it would be taken care of. We went out for the day and returned in the early evening, when we asked for our new room number the lady working the counter just looked at me like I had two heads. So of course I explained to her the situation and described the (employee) gentleman that told us we would have a different room upon our return later in the day. Eventually, we were moved. The second room was a huge improvement.Breakfast was sub-basic and the lady working the breakfast was not a happy camper I think I annoyed her when I told her the garbage cans were over flowing and I have no place to discard my used styrofoam plates. There was one young lady working the counter that was somewhat helpful or at least sympathetic when we were explaining why we wanted a renovated room. To sum up the experience at this property would be... NO ONE here puts any effort into their job - and it shows.
Cleaners are extremely noisy. They constantly allow the door to bang shut everytime they go in and out of the room they are cleaning. The close the security bar to the room they are working in which allows the door to not close all the way. They throw the door open and walk out letting it slam behind them. I have lost count of the times in and out of a room while they clean it. I am trying to work in my room and it is a major bother. I also called the front desk and asked them if this was the normal practice. The front desk simply stayed they would talk to them. An hour later and there is still no change to banging.
We always stay at the West Mifflin Holiday Inn Express when we visit our family two or three times a year. Ray and his staff welcome us and really make us feel at home. We enjoy the breakfast each day and are looking forward to the remodeling they are expecting to do soon. Our only disappointment is that the owner had not replaced the washer and dryer that we counted on having available during our two-week stay.
It is great after a long trip to be greeted with a smile and warm welcome. Always asking How would you like a bottle of water? When we went to breakfast area, another staff member greeted us with warm and inviting welcome. Assisted us in getting breakfast items to our table. Light conversation and willligness to ofter more assistance or obtain other desired items. Provided a great start to the day. Always know what to expect when we stay at Holiday Inn- Express. The bed is very comfotable and plenty of pillows are provided. The bedding is soft and so fresh, it invites you to rest
We came in for a family emergency and upon arrival we were met by India our Receptionist at the front desk. She went out of her way to make sure our needs were met, even at the late hour of our arrival she contacted us in our room to make sure the room was to our satisfaction. The breakfast was great offering many different options as well.We have stayed at this hotel each time we have come to Pittsburgh and cant imagine staying anywhere else other than at this hotel! Awesome job all around!
When I arrived at the hotel the concierge was very friendly and seemed to genuinely care about why I was visiting town. When my friends and I needed restaurant recommendations another of the concierges was readily able to help us.The hotel was slightly outdated, with the wallpaper beginning to peel in certain areas, but the rooms themselves were well kept. The beds and pillows were incredibly fluffy, everyone in my party slept well.Breakfast in the morning was great! There were plenty of options for different pallets.Location wise, the hotel is not within walking distance to anything, but is within a short drive (5-10 minutes) of plenty of restaurants. It is also located only 10-15 minutes away from Kennywood. If I needed to stay in this area again I would certainly come here.
We were dissatisfied with our original room. In order to operate the tv you had to get out of bed....stand on the side of the dresser and aim the remote. Also you could not use the phone to call any of the in house services such as front desk etc. There was one wonderful thing. There was a young man cleaning the hall. His name was Darian. We asked for his help with n working the tv. He tried his best to help us. He finally went to the front desk and arranged for us to get another room. He carried out bags to the new room and made sure everything was working. He was wonderful. He went above and beyond to make sure we were helped. Keep him! One more thing....We asked for a handicapped accessibility room. There was a seat in the tub but the tub walls were so high i could not get in or out.
Upon check in we were upgraded to a room we didnt ask for or want. We booked the room we needed for the number of family members we had and were told they were full and couldnt put us in the room we reserved. We were given a room that had a dirty broken toilet filled with poop. Absolutely Disgusting ! We never received fresh towels or room cleanup on the second day and probably wouldnt have the next day either had we not told the front desk. The elevator floor was a mess. Papers littered the hallway for several days before someone cleaned them up. We wont stay here again.
We have been using the banquet facilities at this Holiday Inn Express and Suites since 2012. During this time, we have experienced some turnover of staff, but I must say that the staff in place currently is by far the best! Ray at the front desk is always providing us with quality service and securing the rooms we prefer at check-in. Fred always has the salons ready for us to set up in upon arrival. He knows exactly how we need the rooms set, so it is ready for us to finish off when we get there. Maria does an outstanding job with the breakfast area and sees to it that our service needs are met daily (on time and with the finest quality). Yolanda is always easy to work with and flexible in securing the salons we need for our work. The housekeeping staff does a great job also. Corey has performed well as the GM to turn this property around to where it is today.
Stay here with my job because near airport and have always had a problem with each stay. No working shuttle or driver any time weve stayed. Checked in by maintenance once. Crew of 4 took nearly an hour. My room smelled like smoke. Heat and air was so noisy had to turn off to sleep. Had power failure twice. No outlets available near bed. Didnt acknowledge reward member. Doesnt offer water on check in. Made huge deal out of changing each room to our name for reward points even though we do it at every hotel and in 10 years of this job never had problem before. Breakfast is decent. Usual choices. Wifi very weak and disconnects frequently. Every time a problem has been brought up its never been addressed. Given a menu for delivery only to be told by restaurant they dont deliver to the hotel. Was told by staff another place would deliver right to room which they did not...had to go to lobby and pick up. Would not recommend to anyone. Not worth the money or headaches.
First impressions: The outside is pretty plain. small seating area outside with some remains of vegetation that winter has killed off and a couple of benches. The front parking lot outside of the lobby is pretty small. It fills fast after 5 pm. Additional parking is around back. Exiting the parking lot can get annoying as the main exits turn onto an one way street which then has no U turns posted. the alternative exit navigates you through several other parking lots. Following check in:After checking in we made our way to the elevators. One was down for maintenance ( Cant fault the hotel for this.) However they are smaller elevators and fill quick, So threw out the weekend came to expect a wait at the elevators. I can only speak for our floor, but it was quiet. We didnt have any noise issues all weekend. Staff was helpful at all times. Final thoughts: I would stay here again and plan to do so later this month. While its plain looking from the outside the inside is renovated and a nice quiet atmosphere. Perfect for relaxing. The lobby provides plenty of seating and you can usually find tea, coffee, and hot coco there. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY.

2022-02-28Most H.I. Express I have stayed at was very nice and this hotel is no exception. However my trip before this one I cut my finger on the top of the microwave. It seems it has had a tabletop screwed to it at one point ,and there was a sharp point at the top. It was minor to me so I had not bothered to mention it. On this trip ,to same H. I. the heat did not work very well and room was a little cold first night. The toilet leaked from the bottom and the tray that holds the complementary soap and shampoo had two chips out of it. Curtains wouldnt close properly, and the suite was a little in disrepair. Shower walls had been cracked and halfway repaired. The microwave tray was missing but worked okay. Breakfast and cleanliness was excellent as always. All the staff were very friendly and pleasant to meet.

2022-04-12Positive: Absolute best hotel staff! The breakfast was the best I¿ve ever had at a hotel - even better than Embassy Suites. Hotel room was about average. Bathroom was on the smaller side but in excellent condition. Tub and tile looked brand new. Negative: Hallway smelled of pot the first night but not really an issue with the hotel.

2022-06-27I was put up in this hotel by my job for a week for training. I enjoyed my stay here. Staff is friendly and the room was nice. The only thing I can say is the TV was kinda small, but thats not really an issue. Breakfast was always served on time and they had different options some days.

2021-10-25Cord and Rachel at the front desk were awesome! They were super friendly, professional and courteous. They took their time in explaining the hotel, the location, and what it has to offer. They were nice enough to be able to accommodate an early check-in. The room was spacious and clean. The pillows were great - liked them so much that Im looking into ordering some for home. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, too. Would recommend this hotel to someone staying in this area.

2021-11-26This hotel appeared to be a relatively new facility and was exceptionally clean and well kept. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. I asked for a handicap room and found it quite acceptable for my sister who is recovering from a stroke. Our room was located across the hall from the elevator and we were never disturbed by the elevator traffic or noise. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will use it the next time Im in the area.

2022-05-31Negative: Stayed 2 days. The breakfast was exactly the same both days. Holiday Inn Express & Suites usually makes some changes on the free breakfast each day. Food was good, but not much variety.
