I have stayed at this hotel many many times and have never had an issue until today. Due to a miscommunication, my boyfriend did not try to request late check out and we were running a little behind the check out time. We lost an hour due to daylight savings and we were up late due to horrible pain and a very unpleasant experience last night. When I was getting out of the shower, a staff person was opening the door to find out if we would be either staying another evening or leaving soon, since it was past check out time. I find it hard to believe that she didn’t realize someone was in the room considering the music that was playing and the shower just turning off. That was a conversation that could have happened with the door shut. I can’t describe how unsettling it was to have a stranger opening the door widely, while I was naked, with no one else in the room. I’m not sure that I understand why she felt that was necessary, but that type of behavior can be very triggering to those with a history of trauma or assault. Please do better.
Good location to get around in Philly, esp across street are nice piers and areas to go on long walks. Hotel itself is mediocre. No pool, no access to newspaper, my kids were disappointed that there were no pancakes or waffles at breakfast, very loud to try to sleep on main highway.. I was extremely surprised upon check in that I had to pay $34 /night for on-premisis parking.
I was super impressed with the value of the experience here in at this clean hotel in Philadelphia. Bed was very comfortable. Staff was courteous. My room had an amazing view of the Delaware River and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. Free breakfast included eggs, bacon, coffee, with real milk and more!!! Located within walking distance ( 5 min) to Old Town. I felt safe even at night walking in the area
We were pleasantly surprised by our stay here. We have stayed at other Holiday Inns and we were super unimpressed. This place changed our minds. The people were so nice and pleasant. They had on mask to protect everyone, the hotel was super clean, very quiet, comfortable beds and absolutely no smoke smell anywhere. We had a room with a river view and it was beautiful and the price was really affordable. The parking was really good and there was enough of it. I highly recommend this location
I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels- and the friendliness of the staff was amazing and by far exceeded any other hotel stay I’ve had! Room was clean, as was the entire place! Was thankful to have found this location so close to where I needed to be. The views were very cool too! Again, excellent service!
Positive: Cleanliness and convenient location. Negative: Key card for the elevator was cumbersome at times. Would have preferred an ice machine on the 9th floor. They were running out of food for the free breakfast, by the time that we arrived, about an hour before closing, many items were unavailable.
My husband and I stayed for the weekend at the Holiday Inn as my doctors are at Univ. of Penn and Jefferson Hospital. I cannot recommend this hotel as we discovered bedbugs and were bitten all over the arms. When I spoken to the Day Manager he told me they would close off the room and have an exterminator investigate. I called their corporate office today and received a claim number but I could not get the phone number to the corporate office. We contacted our credit card company to dispute the bill as we refuse to pay for the services. As practicing as a paralegal for 30 years in this State of PA, I will not tolerate this. If I get bed bugs in my home Holiday Inn Express will pay for the extermination of my home and replacement of the clothing we brought for the weekend and any other items damaged in my home by bed bugs if they came home with us.Do not book these hotels. You may save a few bucks but they are dirty.
We liked everything about our stay here. The location was excellent. We walked everywhere from the Old City, to Rittenhouse Square, to the Italian Market. It was easy and safe. Our room had a spectacular view of the Ben Franklin Bridge. The hotel was clean and the staff members were very helpful and friendly. We even enjoyed the bag breakfast. We have travelled a good deal, but not during COVID. This was our first mini-trip since the pandemic, and we could not have enjoyed it more nor felt more safe. Thank you.
This hotel was a good location to be able to walk to the historic sites of Philadelphia. The room was clean. The lock on the bathroom door didnt work which it made it a struggle with my one year old to keep her out. The breakfast was okay, but this is still Covid time and Im sure its much better usually. We were able to leave our car in the parking lot until 4 pm on the day of checkout which allowed us much more sightseeing time without having to pay for additional parking in the city. I think this is a good hotel if you have a family and are trying to save money, but still want a decent place to stay.
We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and it was wonderful. The staff is truly amazing - friendly, knowledgeable and go out of their way to help you. The building and room were clean and comfortable. The location is perfect! The view was wonderful looking out over the river and the Ben Franklin Bridge. Easy walk to old town and historic district, walk or a quick Lyft ride to South Street and Penns Landing. Very good location to get around from.
We have stayed at this property multiple times and will continue to do so while our grandson is hospitalized in Philadelphia. The hotel is a quick drive from CHOP. They do give a discount even on weekends which is nice when they have availability for chop families. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff is always warm and welcoming. The breakfast buffet and free coffee are a plus. Lots of choices before heading back to the hospital. We have stayed on both the riverside and the highway side. If you are a light sleeper it may bother you a little bit. It quiets down around 2 AM but we have a sound machine and fell asleep easily after a few minutes.
No issues/problems. Hotel is close enough to walk to old town Philly. Felt safe walking around. Their parking rates were more reasonable than those of the hotels in the old town district. Staff was friendly, courteous and accommodating. Room was comfortable. Nice to have a frig and microwave. Would stay here again.
Our room was clean and comfortable. We requested a room away from the elevator and we received a room on the 10th floor with a nice view of the pier. We heard occasional motorcycles but nothing too severe and were able to get a good nights sleep. The breakfast was good and fresh and was regularly refilled throughout the breakfast time period. Nice location near historic district. I would definitely stay there again.
We stayed at Holiday Inn Express for 3 nights for the wedding reception (my daughters) at a restaurant next door. Our entire stay, as well as of our guests staying at this facility, was great! Personally, the staff was very helpful in all aspects of our stay and needs. The sales department went out of their way to help us and assist us with our needs. It was a great location for the wedding reception (next door to the hotel), close to many tourist spots including the pier across the street many great resto/bars.
Stayed here to take the kids to see some of the historical sites in Old City and the Seaport Museum at Penns Landing. We arrived around 10 AM and planned to just park and head into the city, but when I went in to confirm with the front desk that it was okay to leave my vehicle prior to check-in, they informed me that they had rooms available, gave me the keys and allowed us into our room. Very impressed with that, and it was a precursor of a very nice stay. This is a pretty good property, as long as you come in with your expectations appropriately set.***PROS***-Very good location! Theres very little in the immediate vicinity (although Cherry St. Pier is right across the street and D
Fantastic hotel and location! Within walking distance of many eating establishments and historical sites.I also stayed here a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The customer service was amazing as always. Inez (sp ?) at the front desk made me feel like a very valued guest.
We had a warm welcome on an even hotter 95 degree day! The manager was personable and kindly gave us water for our self guided walking tour of the historic district. Walking from the hotel we were able to get to all the main attractions, MOAR, Constitution Center, Liberty Bell, Carpenters Hall, etc Our double room was very clean and plenty big enough for three. For a $10 upgrade you can get a room facing the river, which would have suited me better as I’m a light very sleeper and the highway woke me up at 4, my roomies slept right through. My only ask was that breakfast should be restocked more regularly. There was no bacon or hash browns when we got down there way before breakfast ended. There were plenty of other choices. Great family bar/restaurant right nextdoor too.
Excellent place to stay. This was my second time here and it still has wonderful staff and great accommodations.I love how the rooms are clean and fresh. No problems with this hotel. Beds are comfortable, bathrooms are spotless, and the breakfast is really good with lots of items to choose from. I traveled from Chicago to philly, to New york, then Boston on this vacation and I stayed in some supposedly high end hotels... this one was my favorite. I really think when you have good staff it makes a big difference. I think they all deserve a raise!! Lol!!
Overall I had a pleasant stay and I plan on coming back in 2 weeks for work travel. It’s a great location, but multiple times a night large groups of motorcycles would drive past making a lot of noise (they seemed to stop by 11). I found my room to be clean and the facilities were well maintained.
It was pretty pricey but I did book last minute. Overall the staff was nice and the stay wasn’t bad at all. We were on the fourth floor but still had a beautiful view. The location was nice as well, only about a 5 minute ride to most places. I would definitely recommend this place and stay again; better planned out though of course.
This hotel is conveniently located off Interstate 95. The traffic flow is well thought out, to park, unload luggage, then park the car in a secure lot. The hotel is well laid out. My room had a gorgeous view of the river, the Municipal Pier, and the bridge. Breakfast was perfectly cooked and delicious. Staff were friendly and very kind, as they knew I was staying there to be near a loved one in Jefferson Hospital. He passed away the very evening I arrived, and when I checked out early, the next morning, the woman at the Front Desk was very sympathetic. I cannot say enough about how great this hotel was.
Overall the main lobby area is nice. The room was also relatively clean. The elevator did not seem to be cleaned very often. I did like that you how do use your key card to use the elevator. But only from the main lobby floor. Parking though, is a disaster. It costs extra to park which is not an issue IF there are enough spaces for all guests. However, there are not. So much double parking. If you are paying to park your vehicle, there should be enough spots for all guests to have an actual spot. If someone is double parked, you can’t leave until the cars are moved for you.
Positive: Selected this hotel for its location near Old City, plus I like the brand. Staff very friendly and helpful. 24/hour coffee in lobby. Very nice hot breakfast. Free bottled water at desk. Parking fee fair for downtown Philly and in surface lot, not garage. Negative: No
Staff is great, hotel is safe, in a great place located not to far from fun things to do. Really in the central area of everything fun! We have loved are stay so far can not complain. Rooms are clean, cleaning staff really puts in effort. The only downside is a train that runs every 30 minutes on the Benjamin Franklin Bridge, but I just play white noises on my phone. Still worth it for breakfast, $30 parking(which is cheaper than all around) and centrally located next to river rink, dave and busters, 10-20 to attractions. Walking distance to franklin Square, where they a Christmas event going on. Great experience would keep in mind for travels.
The free breakfast was good but they were out of sausage & didnt have bacon or toast available either. The eggs were good but they needed salt which also wasnt available. The room was nice & clean. It was said to be a room with a view but that was not the case either. They could have done a bit better thus the 3 stars. Staff was friendly & security seemed a bit lazy. They kinda just sat around in the lobby.
The stay was pretty good overall. Hotel was clean, and in a good location walking distance from Philly attractions. The two caveats are that we booked a room with a river view, but were given a room on the second floor, with no view of the river. Instead, what we saw in direct view was a large tree. Second caveat was that the road noise from adjacent Columbus Blvd. was very loud throughout the evening from speeding cars and motorcycles.
Good location. Clean. Great breakfast. As another reviewer noted… road noise from outside is an issue. We stayed a Friday evening on Labor Day weekend. Columbus Ave seemed to be THE road for loud cars and loud groups of motorcyclists… and believe it or not… the occasional ATV…until about 1AM - 2AM. Then the highway noise started about 4 AM.If I return to Philly, I’d stay here again… but maybe not a Friday night during the summer (Again… all the cars and motorcycles out ‘cruising’…)
The parking is a joke and to be charged $30 a night was installed to injury. I parked across the street. The mattress was mediocre and tough to believe my mattress at home was better given this is a name brand hotel that charges through the nose. The second day I was unfortunate enough to be there when a convention of irresponsible parents checked in as there was about 60 to 70 kids all aged about 8 to 12 who treated the entire hotel as their playground. The majority were in the lobby making quite the racket in front of the staff and nothing was done about it. It was the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in and wasn’t able to go to sleep until about 1 in the morning when enough of the kids finally wore out.
This was a great place to stay on the river. The place was clean and the staff very nice and helpful. We were able to walk to the historical sites and food places. The street noises were louder than we preferred but, when you are in the city, deal with it. Great place to stay!
I stayed here during a weekend visit to Philadelphia for a concert. My room was clean and in great condition, and the location is very convenient for exploring Independence Mall and the surrounding neighborhoods; historic Elfreths Alley is just around the block. Check out the Cherry Street pier across the street for artwork and a beer garden on the river. Traffic on Columbus Blvd was a bit noisy on Friday night until about 11:30; otherwise, it was a very quiet and comfortable room with a great view of the Ben Franklin Bridge and local piers. The staff was friendly and attentive.
I travel around 75% of my time for work and stay at IHGs, specifically Holiday Inn Express for their comfort, hospitality, and overall professionalism. While clean, offering a free breakfast, and in a perfect location, this is the loudest hotel I have ever stayed in and fails to hit the professional mark.Every morning at 6:30 am management had a meeting with the housekeeping staff outside of guests rooms (we were on the 10th floor). While I understand the importance of going over the days logistics, I find it hard to believe the 10th floor hallway is the only place to do it.At one point my husband and I walked in on a conversation of a manager not only yelling at a staff member, but she proceeded to talk poorly about another staff member who had walked out the day before.Firstly, a good supervisor critiques in private and all critical conversations should cease when paying customers are present. Secondly, if that’s how my boss talked to me, I’d walk out too.Staff continued to be loud in the hallway, holding conversations with each other, vacuuming, slamming doors open and closed, totally oblivious to concept of sleeping guests. I get it, there is a lot to take care of, but if you request for guests to abide by the quiet hours of 10 pm to 9 am, your staff should as well.Staff were not fully masked. Masks were not present at all, or worn improperly. When we saw this, we put a do not disturb sign on our door and let the person at the front desk know if we needed housekeeping, we’d let them know. Every day we would receive a passive aggressive note stating it was hotel policy if housekeeping wasn’t allowed in, management would key in every day for a wellness check. This is the ONLY IHG hotel I’ve traveled to during the pandemic that would key into rooms for this purpose. Sorry, I don’t want unmasked staff in my room. You all need to upgrade your infrastructure as well, The blackout curtains, weren’t. The heater/ac unit is from the 90’s(?) and rattled loudly. The water took around 10 minutes to heat up.Had other hotels in the area not have been booked, I would have left after the first night.
The view from my room was great! but that was about it, I saw a mouse crawl under my door and ran behind the tv stand. I decided to keep working until it was time to check out, which was @ 2pm. Around 1230 as I was packing to leave. I heard a knock at the door, I figured it was housekeeping but it was the lady from the front desk that checked me in on Sunday. She asked if I was ok and if I needed something. I was a bit confused because I didnt request anything or asked to be bothered. It felt like someone on her cleaning staff complained I was still in the room or something. I dont know but what i do know is it felt like I was being rushed to get out. I chose not to tell her about the siting due to her demeanor. I told the guy at the front desk and all he could do is apologize but it didnt feel genuine. I also requested an receipt via email and tried to confirm my email and didnt seem to pay attention. So I requested a printout on the spot, he seem annoyed and insisted it was going to my email. Im glad I didnt listen because I never received that email...smh I dont plan to stay at this location in the future.
Positive: It was clean. It didnt smell bad. Negative: They charged me $30 extra per night just to park my car there.Ive not stayed in a hotel where the overnight parking wasnt complimentary for hotel guests. The room had a nice view of the Ben Franklin Bridge, but with that came the noisy train all night.
Excellent hotel! Nice location right by the Ben Franklin Bridge and within a 10 minute walk of historical sites and Chinatown, clean rooms, decent free breakfast. Water pressure was good, shower was hot, bed was comfortable, staff was helpful and friendly. We will definitely return!
Honestly, the best hotel experience weve had so far. The staff was extra helpful no matter what time of day. The weekend security guy was really nice too.The continental breakfast was amazing. We had a river view, 6th floor room with a beautiful sight to see. Lots to do in the local area. We enjoyed our stay so much, we booked dates in September while still on our trip! 😂 My husband and I had 4 of our children along, ages 10-15 and every one had a terrific time.My only complaint was the hard queen beds. Very rough sleeping. Hoping the king size next time gives an improvement!
We were impressed by the cleanliness of the room. The staff could have been more informed about the area. We were going to Wills Eye Hospital and it is ten minutes away and they had no clue about where it was or how to get there. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. We did appreciate though that a reduced rate is offered for patients of Wills Eye.
Overall was a decent experience. We had a last minute scheduling change to force us to book this last minute. We were able to secure the booking just 2 days before. Parking while I paid the extra for the lot was less than optimal. I had to leave keys with attendant and they move vehicle around. Check in was quick, Drivers License and credit card and we were on our way. The room was a standard King sized bed, ample size fridge. The shower amenities were less than desirable. The community use of soap, conditioner and such is not optimal with trying to keep everyone distanced. The individual shower gel, soaps and conditioner would be a better and cleaner move.
Ive been staying at this hotel for 6 years when I need services at Wills Eye hospital. The staff has always been super friendly in the past. This trip, the front desk staff was efficient, but not friendly. The gentleman running the take out breakfast was very friendly and helpful though! I felt the hotel did a very good job of keeping everyone safe during the pandemic. The big problem we encountered was with hot water in the room bathroom. After letting the water for 4-5 minutes, I was able to get hot water for my shower. My daughter had to run the water 3-4 minutes just ten minutes after I finished mine. I expect hotels to have hot water without having to waste water to get it. If you are security concious, the hotel now has a secure lobby.
We were glad to see the breakfast buffet was open, offering a lot of good options, including a pancake machine that the kids loved. Options were scaled back for Mondays breakfast, but still decent. Rooms are clean and comfortable - what you would expect. Downsides were cost of room (plus $30 a day for parking) and noise from the street. We would look around at alternatives, but would consider staying here again.
I want to point out that the cleaning staff that I encountered were extremely friendly and helpful. My rating of the room cleanliness is mostly based on the room furnishings. They were outdated, marred up, old dirty carpet. The actual cleanliness was good. (The tub, counter top, sink, etc) The price I paid for this room was absolutely unacceptable. During my travels, I stayed in 8 different hotels. This was by far the worst value for the money. I actually stayed in another Holiday Inn Express and paid nearly half the price for a much better experience.
Good proximity to Center City attractions and to the bridges to NJ, but surrounded on 3 sides by elevated highway, bridge, and drive popular with motorcyclists. The staff was friendly, the breakfast was simple but more than adequate. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Travelling for a soccer tournament, we missed having a guest laundry and wish we had brought earplugs to get a quiet night’s rest.
1. Key cards that actually work. I had to be re-keyed twice during my stay. I was given 2 cards each time and one of those keys only worked on the elevator and the other worked on the room. Other guests had the same issue, it was a topic of conversation on the elevator. 2. TV that worked. The cable was only in service 2 nights of my stay. I ended up having to watch TV on my laptop because I had already unpacked and changing rooms would have been an even bigger hassle. The front desk was not able to provide a reason for the outage or an estimated repair time/day. 3. Drink machines that were stocked and worked. I had to go to 3 different floors in order to get a water and a diet coke from a working machine.4. The breakfast selection was not consistent. The first day of my stay I had wonderful choices. By the last day there was only one flavor of oatmeal and yogurt and fewer pastry selections. The coffee ran out frequently.5. Clean towels without hair from previous guests.

The hotel staff was attentive and courteous, satisfying our requests quickly. The room was clean and comfortable - we had a river view that was really nice (a view of Penn’s Landing and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge). The security measures are good, making us feel safe in the hotel. There’s also a secure private parking lot on the premises.
Very comfortable bed and outstanding service.I slept very well in clean smelling sheets. The shampoo, the conditioner and the body wash was very nice. Food was delicious and a nice selection of items including fresh fruits. I felt safe with the security staff and very welcoming by the front desk staff. Overall a great place to stay and not far from the main attractions I wanted to see
My family and I recently stayed close to Penn’s Landing. We were within walking distance of great restaurants and historic sites. The hotel gave us easy to understand directions and were accommodating to all needs. We needed a few extra towels - they were happy to give us additional towels. Polite staff at breakfast area along with desk staff made this an enjoyable visit. I will be looking forward to spending more time at this hotel in the future.
We stayed at your hotel 2 nights prior to this. Due to an urgent situation, we had to extend out stay one more night. The hotel staff at the counter didnt act professionally to take care of our reservation. We called your house keeping dept. twice so far, informing a night guard in a blue container was left in the bathroom of our room (702) on the morning of Juily 5, 2021. We asked if it was found and kept at your lost and found desk, but there has been no reply on that. If you did find it, we requested that you send it to us using our credit card for the expense. We hope there is a person who does handle this important function for your guests.
Upon arrival there was no one at the front desk for about 15 minutes, until someone who looked like they just woke up came from a backroom and pretty much mumbled to us how they didnt get a call about a room, when we literally did roughly an hour ago prior..........Once we got a room, of course, there was a CONDOM WRAPPER on the floor, next to the bed. What? Why?I did not want to sleep on that bed. This location is lucky our flight was cancelled and we were absolutely drained. Then, upon getting ready to leave, I had recieved a phone call, and two seperate people knocking on the door to make sure we were checking out for 11am..... It was 10:30. The second knock was at 10:35. Jeez, calm down.I hated this hotel. The Holiday Inn (By The Bay) I stayed at during my trip in Maine was amazing. This Holiday Inn was utterly disappointing.
I enjoyed the stay and slept well. its right along 95 and you can kind of hear it but its not that bad really. I was confused about where to park my car and could not get the gate to open right away. The staff were helpful and I especially liked it that they had people watching the parking lot all night.
First, we did not chose this hotel. Our team was assigned to this hotel. The hotel is surrounded by 3 highways. We learned that Phili has a thriving motorcycle community of hundreds (yes 100s) of motorcyclists and 4 wheelers. They ride by the hotel at all hours of the night revving their engines and riding wheelies and otherwise acting the fool. It is impossible not to be disturbed by them. The second thing that was awful was the parking. There isnt enough parking so they double park all the vehicles. Good luck getting out if you need to leave early in the morning. There is no way they should charge for parking in that situation. Finally, while overall the room seemed clean the floor was not. It clearly had not been vacuumed. We found raisins scattered around the floor and some had been there a long time.Positives: 1- staff was friendly and 2- the hotel was within walking distance of numerous attractions.
Stayed for two nights and were happy with our room. The hotel is on a busy street, and it is noisy. There were motorcycles drag racing up and down the street every night. Due to COVID, they are not making up the guest rooms every day. However, the housekeeping staff was very friendly and provided extra towels and coffee pods at your request. We were a little dissatisfied with the breakfast to-go bags. A hotel employee filled the bags with items of your choice, and she made you feel like she was being inconvenienced. The breakfast sandwiches were almost inedible, and they were out of some of the listed items. We did, however, enjoy our stay and would stay here again.
The hotel is in a good location. The bedding was super soft and comfortable. The lobby area was not very inviting and was pretty closed in. One or two front desk staff were pretty short and curt with my inquires. Another one, one day, was super nice and accommodating. I requested an upper level room preferably with a view when I reserved my room. I called the day of to confirm. They said I had to request when I checked in. When I checked in, they said rooms were already pre-assigned and they were booked. I was traveling with a sports team and knew that not everyone had checked in yet so I didnt understand why I couldnt be relocated. So, they tell me to request a room when I check in but when I check in, the rooms are already preassigned so I can not request a room?! Front desk person was very short about the fact. I asked if my room still had a decent view and was told yes. The room, however, was on a lower lever overlooking the back parking lot and highways. You can hear the traffic throughout the night trying to sleep.
I stayed at this property previously, the standard of quality has decreased. We had to request two times for our room to be cleaned. Trash was left in the hall for 24 hrs. The windows are not sound proof so we heard motor cycles racing street racing all four nights! Breakfast was non existent. It took a long time for shower to get hot . Definitely needs a new manger and some updates . The location is great , you can walk to many of Phillys best sights! Corporate needs to step in and make this place work again.
Paid extra for a room overlooking the river for a more romantic view and be away from traffic. Wife is allergic to smoke smells and is sensitive to it. Holiday Inn is completely non-smoking so should not be an issue. First room they put us in smelled horrible of smoke and was unbearable. We called down and got another room. Second smelled even worse than the first. We almost left to find something else but it was late. After haggling with front desk we got a third room on highway side of hotel that smelled clean but you could hear highway traffic clearly. This is not a great part of town to be in so I can understand the 3-4 parking attendants all night to prevent break ins. Breakfast was OK but with Covid protocols in effect was limited. Proximity to historic downtown was nice and within walking distance. Stay was OK but room conditions at check in were very off putting.
Hotel was clean. Nothing exceptional about it, but what you would expect for a Holiday Inn. Very noisy - street noise and noise from other rooms. Parking situation was never clearly explained. Breakfast was terrible - Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. We had to go out to get something decent to eat.
First I wanna say that the staff was very friendly. However the hotel smelled like cigarettes in the room had an animal type smell. We had a city view room in the traffic noise was so loud, it was difficult to fall asleep. The pillows were uncomfortable. The location is good, there were a lot of bars and restaurants that aren’t easy walking distance.
We arrived early from a short trip into the city. They did get us into a room within an hour. The front desk staff when we checked in were very friendly. We were booked for two nights. We were surprised when there was no housekeeping services after the first night. No new towels or bed-making. Also, we had used the coffee and no coffee pods were left for us.When I checked at the front desk, they informed me that I would have to fill out a form to get the supplies. He was very abrupt and not helpful. I asked for new towels which he furnished but no effort was made to furnished the in-room coffee.I have only stayed at IHG units for the past two years, hoping to make this a regular occurrence. I have no plans to return to Philadelphia and if I do, I will not stay at this INN.
Great time there. Nice place. Room 906 great view of the bridge. Pay extra for top floor water view. $30 a night for parking, just FYI there is no free parking. Breakfast good. No room service, did order from Seamless withots of options. Somewhat clean room, shower head was green.
Staff was very nice, patient and accommodating. There are no microwaves in the room, you will just have to request one. The heating system blew out some dust, but that was only for an hr and stopped. Elevators are fast, plenty of parking (expensive $30/night), location was great...didnt have to drive much as food and activities were in walking distance. If you are trying to get a good nights sleep DO NOT get a room facing Christopher Columbus Blvd, there were car races and motorcycles out until 3am (which is not the fault of the hotel, just a suggestion). However you will sacrifice the beautiful view of the water.
My family stayed here in August, amidst the COVID19 situation, and we did not have a comfortable stay at all. The room did not seem to have been cleaned to a normal standard, let alone the above and beyond that is expected during a global pandemic. Almost all of the hand sanitizer and lobby restroom soap was out when we tried it. We even found a set of car keys from a previous guest in the hotel Keurig, yes you read that right. The night before staying here, we had stayed in a different Holiday Inn Express location, and they seemed to have a MUCH better cleaning policy than this location, taking extra measures to make us feel safe and comfortable. This room was also damp feeling, and we could not seem to get the window completely closed. We are a family of hard sleepers, and we all woke up to LOUD motorcycles speeding across the highway in the middle of the night. Obviously staying in the city is going to be loud, that is understandable and expected, but the sound was intensified greatly by the fact that the window wouldnt shut. Overall this experience was very poor, I was disappointed to have this as my families first experience in Philly. I would not recommend this location to anyone.
My key card stopped working and got locked out of room. A new one didnt help. After two trips to the front desk, a technician was called to replace the battery on the door itself. They responded very quickly. As we were leaving, the key did not work to let us out of the parking lot, so it meant another ask for help.Other than that, loved the location (easy walk to old sections). The traffic along highway and on bridge was loud, but that didnt bother me.
Even tho I had a few issues overall my stay was nice and I do not mind going there again. I booked two connected rooms and they was not reserved when I got there but the goat was able to fine me two rooms next to each other. The rooms was nice and clean but the door knob was broke on one door and there was no tooth paste and tooth brushes. They did have complimentary breakfast but there was not too many options. Also one of the rooms did take long to warm up but when it did warm up boy was it hot. We enjoyed ourselves even with the issues we had.
You pay more for a river view room, but they dont tell you how loud the street below is at night. Drag racing and hot rods were an all-night affair. They ran out of hot food for breakfast over an hour before the end of breakfast. I almost stayed somewhere else, but chose this hotel because Ive enjoyed other Holiday Inn Express locations and I knew I could count on a good breakfast amid COVID. I was sadly disappointed.
Price was right for this hotel. However it is not updated to the new look as other Holiday Inn locations we’ve stayed at recently. The grab and go breakfast was subpar. The cereal was off brand and did not taste good. Out of four bananas, not one was edible. Friendly staff. Great view of the river. Street/train noise on river side was so loud that it was hard to relax in the room. Turned up the a/c to run more often to drown it out. Within walking distance of Liberty Bell.
Great view, but too loud to sleep. Linens (sheets and towels) were gross. Sheets had stains. Towels were damp and had hair. And not just a hair or two! Lots of hair. Bathtub was dirty and also had hair. I cleaned it before using it. No one told us about free breakfast. Usually they tell you when breakfast will be served at check-in, but no one told us and there were no signs. I assumed it was cancelled due to COVID. We ended up getting takeout, not realizing breakfast was available.I had to laugh at the housekeeper not writing their name on the card that shows you who cleaned the room. They probably knew someone would complain.
Wasnt super impressed with how small the bathroom was. My husband didnt shower because his shoulders were too wide to fit comfortably. I get the idea of the grip on the bathroom floor but it would of been nice to include that somehow in the description. At first it felt like sand and I was almost mad, lol. Beds werent terrible but was definitely not comfy. Very stiff. .
Shower quality - water temperature didnt approach hot. It was slightly above lukewarm at best. checkin - smooth enough, but didnt feel warm welcome or wasnt thanked for being a platinum elite member breakfast - meh. good cinnamon roll but lacked nutritional value for other items and some food was low quality room itself - lots of road noise from interstate nearby
Researched and compared probably every hotel in the city before deciding on this one for price, location, and previous reviews. Everything went very smoothly, hotel was nicely decorated, room was clean and cozy (I loved the pillows), and the employees were all very friendly. The shuttle is a fantastic feature, made the stay so much better for the pure fact that we didn’t have to get keep getting taxis (although it’s in a great spot for walking to a lot of the historical spots and tons of food options within walking distance). The shuttle drivers are fantastic! Very helpful and friendly, they were probably my favorite part of the hotel!
Friendly staff. Safe clean and relaxing. We came here as a stop on a birthday trip and wanted to get cheese steak and we have never had them before we are from out of town. The staff gave us directions and even made suggestions on things to do while in the area. Their suggestions where great and we loved our stay.
Unfortunately, the power went off around 3:00pm on 8/7/2021 and had not been restored when I left at 10:00am 8/8/2021. The staff and management were helpful throughout and did all that they could to provide comfort. The bright spot was the breakfast on Saturday morning before the power outage. The housekeeping staff headed by Monica and assisted by Millie provided compassionate care to a disabled senior who had a personal mishap. Many accolades are forwarded to them
Noisy street but that couldnt be helped or avoided (beautiful view made up for it!) Breakfast, dining choices were really not readily accessible due to Covid-19 but front desk very helpful with deliverable food choices from nearby restaurants. Missed having a microwave but very happy for the coffee maker. Only complaint was not the hotel or staff but the cab service available. It was terrible and very worrying not being on time or paying attention to reservations having been made.
We only chose this hotel for the advertised free shuttle to the Wills Eye Institute. It is isolated and not a place to walk around and see anything. There is no variety of restaurants in the area. It is not close to any historical sites. Not a relaxing place. After spending the whole day at the Hospital, we returned to find the bed was unmade. We did appreciate the discount on the room price because we were going to the hospital, but perhaps that was why the room was so small.
Went down for sons surgery and semi hard to find. Parking is soooo expensive. Hotel has nothing but a view aslong as your put high enough up. Service was not good and the whole place smelled especially the room. Would never stay again. Way to pricey for what you get.
Very friendly staff and great walkable location. Room was clean and comfortable. However there was so much traffic noise throughout the night - car radios blasting, people yelling, mufflers, etc - that we woke up constantly throughout the night. We stayed on a Friday night and had a room with water view (facing the pier).
We had a delightful 5 day getaway here and loved every minute of it. The room was spacious (we had a corner room), with a great view (the Ben Franklin Bridge and Susquehanna river were our beautiful view.).The staff was friendly and helpful. It was no more than a 10-15 minute Uber to all the great restaurants. All in all, it was a the perfect location to stay and get a little R & R. This will be my Philadelphia hotel in the future.
Been coming here awhile now and would absolutely come again. It was nice and quiet which was a plus . Also had a great view of the waterfront and city which we loved. Always recommend this place for a quick and quiet getaway. Even if its for just a weekend, its cozy. Great spots to eat at nearby and enjoy the weather as well.
Holiday Inn Express properties have come a long way in the past couple decades, and this one is no exception. Its problem is not the hotel, itself, but its location. One side (west side) faces one of the busiest highway corridors on the east coast (Interstate 95) which runs right through center city Philadelphia. You distinctly hear cars, buses, tractor trailers, etc., every minute of every day. The east side is much better, but still on the noisy side as it too is a busy thoroughfare in central Philly. Hotel staff is great, and my issue is not with them, but the corporation that owns the hotel should have thought better before putting a hotel there.
I recently stayed at this holiday inn for jury duty, I called and made reservations as opposed to booking online because I had questions regarding a refundable room at the jury duty rate and what I needed to do. Despite this I still ran into problems when I got dismissed from jury duty late. Luckily the manager Bruce worked with me when his staff James contacted him. He agreed to only charge me for the night stayed. That was greati I think some how a better system has to be implemented other than jurors checking in and out everyday. Only other negatives are the noise from the highway is pretty loud ( I turned on the fan to the hearing unit to drown it out), and not being offered my welcome amenity...I have a IHG credit card and choose this brand specifically for the rewards. Overall the hotel and room was nice. Bed was comfortable breakfast was good and had a wide variety. Staff are good and the two shuttle drivers were fast and professional...this service is definitely a bonus. I would recommend this hotel.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express for 2 nights. We were on the Delaware River side and the night view of the Ben Franklin bridge is beautiful! The sunrises are spectacular, too. The location is very good; walking distance to so much, yet a bit removed from the hubbub. There is a shuttle to take you to locations within a mile of the hotel. The breakfast had a delicious and well maintained variety of foods. The rooms are fairly clean, but the carpets could really use some serious scrubbing. Definitely wear something on your feet! The beds and pillows were very comfortable and the noise level was what would be expected staying in a large city. I would definitely stay here on a return trip.
Room was next to the fitness center and weights banging at10pm and second night room vibrating when person on treadmill. Manager unconcerned and when we decided to check out early he stated he needed to charge us 1/2 price since it was almost 7pm. I have never been treated so poorly! Truly a horrible experience!!
The front desk gave my sister a really hard time when we checked in. We had done everything over the phone and the process was great and easy. Im not sure why it was so complicated for them to find our information, and it wasnt until my boyfriend came in that they actually let us check in. The location was great and the amenities were fine.
We had a pleasant experience at Penns Landing IHG. The staff even extended our late check-out which really helped us. The breakfast was pretty decent with grab n go options. The hotel is right on the pier. We walked to Independence hall and other attractions. Has restaurants right next door.
The staff seemed miserable and treated customers accordingly. Very loud - people screaming in the halls, partying on weekdays, arguing non-stop, it was like we were at a motel. Vending machines only take dollar bills and CC but the CC wasnt working. Front desk refused to break change. Hot water in the bathroom takes 15-25 minutes to heat up both in the morning and at night. 30$ a night to park - no valet - 50% we couldnt get out of the gate and had to ask for help.
My sheets were not clean from the last guest. I know that because the flat sheet, pillow case and blanket all had the same color lipstick stain as one of the lamp shades in my room. I’ve worked in hospitality before. I know when you strip a bed and launder the sheets and blanket the all get mixed up and is very unlikely that you end up putting the exact same sheets, pillow cases and blanket back into the exact same room when you’re finished washing it because you remake the bed after you strip it before you leave the room and move to the next one. They didn’t bother to strip the sheets in my room just remade the bed after the last guest left (this is the reason to travel with your own sheets and blanket). Not to mention my ice bucket was full of water and the welcome card on the desk had someone’s eyelash stuck to the other side of it. I will never stay at another one again.
The Holiday Inn Express at Penn’s Landing was a great location for our Old City wedding block in June 2021. The rooms were spacious, modern, and clean, and our guests loved them. The hotel is also conveniently located right next to our wedding venue, Power Plant Products, as well as Race Street and Cherry Street Piers and other local attractions, which made everything very walkable and convenient for our guests.
The hotel location was very convenient for our stay, the staff was very helpful. The room was clean and nice. The room was subject to a good bit of background noise due to the proximity to the highway. The upper floor shower took a decently long time to come to a hot temperature. Parking can be found for cheaper at nearby parking lots and garages.
Looks nice and inviting until we got into our room and it smelled like a dive bar with dirty rags and cigarettes. Asked for different bedding and no staff returned. Asked the front desk staff and after waiting for them to finish their personal conversation, they could not answer questions in a courteous manner.
Very loud noise from street, poor condition of room, hair dryer and towel rack broken, poor breakfast, and the area is trashy and under construction. Other than nice beds and friendly staff, the old condition, noise and even the broken gate at the exit made this a bad choice of hotels.
The staff of the hotel were fantastic. Everyone was extremely friendly and never had to wait to speak with anyone. The room was very nice and very clean. Breakfast had a wide variety of food and was really good. If staying I would recommend that you get a room NOT in the side of highway 95, myself and 2 other co-workers had rooms on this side of the hotel and on different floors. The noise from the highway made sleeping really terrible. Up almost every hour, and I mean just the noise of cars driving, not horns honking or loud exhaust, just normal driving was sooo loud. Again if you say on the other side of the hallway I’m sure it’s much more quiet. But would not recommend that you get a room on the highway 95 side unless noise doesn’t bother you.
The hotel is nice and is within walking distance to the piers or to the historical landmarks. The hotel is loud - where you can hear every time a door opens and closes. Stayed during COVID, so the breakfast left something to be desired, but they did the best they could given the circumstances.
The walls were paper thin. I could hear a person snoring next door, and then someone complained that my tv was loud. That has never happened in my life and I travel extensively. The housekeeping staff was banging and thudding around in the morning so it was Impossible to sleep in. Also most of the doors in the place would slam shut. The hotel itself is in a weird spot with nothing around. The closest convenience store or, restaurant was about six blocks away. Everything closed early despite Covid. That’s just their hours near there. I needed some antacid and the hotel had no vending machine with suck necessities.
Even on the 7th floor, the traffic noise was deafening and kept us awake all night. It seemed like trucks and motorcycles were constantly driving through our room. Everything else about the hotel was fine, but unless they do some major soundproofing, this hotel is unacceptable.
Once we arrive to the hotel they were freshly baked cookies on the counter waiting for us. The check in staff was very friendly they got us immediately checked in and on our way to the room. The room was very clean the beds were made very nicely and the bathroom was very clean.Next morning there was plenty of space for guests sit In the breakfast dining area And the food was constantly replenished. My children really got a kick out of the pancake machine. I forgot to pack a razor at the hotel staff was very kind and give me toiletries! Definitely recommend this hotel especially if you’re traveling with children.
An amazing experience! Ill put this into categories that mattered to us.Room-we stayed in 805, water and land view. The room was spacious and clean and the view was amazing. The noise from the street wasnt a problem for us. Mostly sounded like white noise..we slept very well. The room was clean, and we were able to receive service upon request if needed(Covid restrictions in place). We didnt watch tv at all because the views were so captivating. But it was also pride and 4th of july.Staff: the staff was amazing. So helpful. And very knowledgeable of the area. The recommended a few really neat places to visit and affordable ways to get around..The phlash..they even printed us a map and circled things our aon might enjoy. Which we all did.Breakfast: was great, pancakes, sausage and eggs, bagels, muffins, boiled eggs, juice, Danish, toast, vereals, yogurt, milk, coffee, juices and water! We loved it! Oh and fruit.Proximity: walking distance to thw bus or attractions and right on the water where there is so much to do.We also saw fireworks over new jersey from our window. Its not a new hotel, very buildings in this area are. But if you just need a nice clean place to stay while you explore the city, meet new people, this would be for you. We are active and really wanted the full city experience so this hotel worked for us.Overall great stay! Parking is $30 a day but alot cheaper than being towed in the city. My opinion is you dont need a rental your entire stay. We got a car for a few days and never really used it. So $60 bucks wasted really.
We had an issue with a very horrible smell in the room the first night and I went to the front desk and Josh, the security guy, came up to the room and sprayed a disinfectant. Worked great. Next day, the smell was worse. They moved us and all was good. The staff was extremely apologetic and they made it good.
This hotel is located in the perfect place, along the river so you arent downtown with all the traffic noise and sirens. We have been staying here for the past 13 yrs. It is clean, the staff are friendly and helpful, the breakfast has a lot of choices and the food is good. The rooms are a nice size and the beds are very comfortable. The pillows are firm and soft so you have a choice. The bathroom has a huge vanity to spread out your things. The room also has a safe, ironing board and iron. There is also a large tv with a lot of channels.
Great property. Liked the security of the hotel and parking lot. Missed breakfast, but the manager on duty took care of us and gave a couple yogurts and fruit. Thank you and cudos to her. A little pricey to park, but it all worked out. Didnt get to see the distillery because of Covid-19. We went to the Liberty Bell, Constitution Visitor Center and other places of interest. The weather was not good early in the week, but we made the best of it. We want to come back and see more within the next 6-9 months.
We were delighted with adjoining rooms with a 10th floor view of the riverfront! We were surprised to learn that a free shuttle was available to us and the driver was friendly, attentive and even gave us some details about the sights as we drove along. The accommodations and breakfast were clean, comfortable and family-friendly!
The holiday inn at Penns Landing is an outdated Holiday Inn. For starters the front door is locked at all times even though they say it’s a safe area I don’t know of many holiday ends where the door has to remain locked at all times. The fitness center is not open 24 hours which is a problem for the way I work and travel. They charge you thirty dollars a night for parkingNow let’s get to the room it’s like walking into a late 70s and 1980s hotel room with no amenities. Most holiday ends at least have a microwave but not this oneThe staff was rude throughout my trip and not very friendlyI guess the one thing they have going for them as they like to brag that they are at Penns Landing whoopty doo!I’ve stayed at a Holiday Inn’s in Hong Kong London all over the world and this Hass to be one of the worst big city holiday innsI guess one other good point is that if you say anything to the staff you get a condescending and patronizing email from the general manager so there’s always that
My wife, son, and I stayed here two nights in August 2020 and had an excellent stay overall. We drove in from Michigan to drop our son off au UPenn. The room was very good and the location of the hotel to downtown, the campus, and everything in general was very good. The front desk help was very friendly and professional. The morning that we checked our, Mr. D. Davis at the front desk made sure that we had everything we need from the breakfast room even though we left at 6 in the morning. My heartfelt thanks to D.
The last 3 years I have traveled frequently and this hotel was by far my best experience. The staff was friendly and helpful. My room was perfect, on a higher level with a river view - the bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. The breakfast offered was tasty with a few extra items added in that differed from other hotels. I felt completely comfortable. We loved the shuttle to places downtown and the parking was a nice though an extra cost which is understandable. This hotel was extremely busy but never once did it lower their service. Holiday Inn Express Philadelphia Penn Landing has made me only use Holiday Inn Express hotels in the future - Thanks to the staff for making me feel important
Place is great only if facing the water or the bridge. My room was actually on the side facing the bridge. It was an amazing view and was beautiful. My sisters room faces the highway which is extremely close to the building and heard every car that drove by so she hated her room. So if your staying here room placement is a must. Breakfast was great especially for free! Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancake, oatmeal, cereal, coffee, juice, (donuts were dry) fruit, and toast. Parking is self park, i hate valet. And free shuttle to and from center city. Great spot, highly recommended. Also I wish j new ahead of time but front desk gives hot water bottles. I bought one for $2.50 in vending machine. Although I don’t know if it was only for members and we are members.
Great shuttle, excellent breakfast, parking is pricy if you have a car. There is no desk in the room, only a small table, didnt work to well for more than just a laptop.no microwave either. Found pretzel sticks on the floor in my room when I got there and the tub drained really slow. But still a nice place to sleep and get a great breakfast if you are in the area as a tourist.
Hotel is clean and quiet, especially considering the location. The bed is very nice and the pillows are great. Very close to Market Street, Liberty Bell, Penns Landing, etc. Breakfast buffet was very well stocked with anything you could really want. The pancake machine is definitely social-media worthy - very cool. Room was cleaned quickly and efficiently - I was back every day by noon and my room was already fixed up each time.
I stayed at this same hotel two years ago with no issue. This visit the cleanliness has declined significantly. There was visible dirt on the carpet outside my room. The carpet in the room had a wet spot. The remote was filthy and I had to wipe it down just to be able to use it. A guest checked out a day early when I was checking in. The parking attendants were extremely helpful and the front desk person gave me milk for my son. I will not ever return here though due to the sanitation issues.
The Holiday Inn Express was a welcome respite in the storm. My son travelled all night and we originally were at another hotel - it was unsafe and disgusting. I then looked at my ihg rewards program and this hotel popped up. I called and had an immediate booking. We arrived early and were able to check-in right away. The concierge team were so friendly, caring and personable. The shuttle drivers informative, polite and accommodating. We had a few forgetful moments and no one appeared bothered or put out because of our goof. Instead the entire team could not be more gracious and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful hot and fresh. Good coffee was a bonus.
Convenient location for my husbands surgery at Wills Eye Hospital, easy commute back and forth. I think the staff tried to be very accommodating under the current Covid restrictions. The grab and go breakfast that we picked each day had many more choices than other hotels we had experience with. The location is a bit noisy being on a busy street, lots and lots of motorcycles all hours of the night. Beautiful view of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge!
We enjoyed staying at this holiday inn. We had a nice view of the river from our room. The shuttle service was very convenient for getting around. We arrived later in the evening, but check in was quick. We wish that the staff could have helped us more with locating a place to eat within walking distance, rather than just handing us a list. We stumbled upon a restaurant nearby, that the front desk could have told us was so close. The room was nice, but the bathroom fan was very loud, and could not be turned off. Otherwise, the hotel was clean, the bed was comfortable, breakfast was satisfying. Will stay here again in the future.
I arrived around 6:00 pm for my stay at this hotel, travelling on company business. I had a reservation for a King, non smoking room. There was a couple in front of me checking in. The desk clerk told them about breakfast, the availability of the shuttle, the internet code, etc. When it was my turn to check in, I was asked for credit card, ID, and was given a room key. I think he also may have asked if I parked and I told him I had not. No mention of breakfast, shuttle, internet, etc. as he had done with the previous guests. I arrived in my room. It was a tiny, handicapped room with what appeared to be a full size or queen bed. I am a 6 ft tall female and I dont need a handicapped room. I called the desk clerk and told him I had reserved a king bed and I didnt want handicapped. He told me to come back downstairs and he would switch me. Went back down and got a key. No apology for the mistake or any acknowledgement of his mistake. Most hotels will tell you if you are being given a room that is a different type from the one reserved. This time he put me on the top floor in a much nicer room, with a King bed. I have stayed at this hotel before and 1 or 2 nights is the most I can tolerate. It is not dreadful, and I realize it is older, but it is not nearly as nice as some other Holiday Inn Express locations. When I later took the shuttle (very nice shuttle driver) I mentioned my experience to the driver. He told me the desk clerk was new. Clearly he needs more training. Finally, looking at my bill it does not show zero balance, although it has already posted to my credit care.Plus no recognition for being IHG rewards member.
I had a pre paid stay through a third party vendor. Upon check in, the clerk knew about this yet charged my credit card the full amount of the stay. It took three days to get it straightened out. Their key card system wasn’t working upon check in. We had to be escorted to the room. Each of our three days there there was a problem and we constantly needed new keys. This was a paid parking lot and the key card was needed. We had to keep calling for help to exit the parking lot. The exhaust in the bathroom wasn’t working and nobody came to fix it during our stay even though we asked. It seems customer service was sorely lacking at this hotel. All in all not a good experience here.
The Hotel pucs, looks so much bigger outside and nicer in their pics. Its not on the water as I thought so tragic from the main road plus the subway passing by makes it very noisy. Breakfast is green do dar the worse I have had at the chain during covid. Parking is another issue as you got to drive out of the hotel to be able besides pay $30. Its not worth the money.
I stayed in this location for one night on a short trip to Philadelphia. This hotel is in an amazing location. My room view was very nice. There was a small issue with my neighbors but the manager Andrew addresses the issue immediately. Called me back within the hour and took care of the issue. I was SOOOOO happy with the customer service and his overall demeanor. It was great to see that I was valued as a guest of this hotel. I will for sure stay again.
We always stay here when we go to Philadelphia, and the FDR Park location for the Flower Show this year was easy to get to. Sorry there were no shuttle vans provided, so we had to pay for parking on both ends... Only problem this stay was other guests talking loudly in the hall until 12:30 am, followed by early morning construction noise on C.Columbus Blvd.
Room was very clean and staff were very friendly and helpful. Pillows were amazing. Breakfast choices were good considering. The circumstances with COVID. Was happy with the overall experience. Of our stay and likes the security feature of buzzing in or having to use a room key. Felt very safe.
The hotel was in decent shape, easy to check in and get settled in in a busy city. The parking was a cost which was not great but being in the city center that’s to be expected. Everything in the room was in good shape, and I’m loving the trend of pump bottles for shampoo and soap. The main issue was that the tub wouldn’t drain well but it wasn’t a huge inconvenience. The free shuttle around the area was very nice since we didn’t want to pay for parking multiple times.
THis was an amazing place to stay. The shuttle ran smoothly and it was just a phone call away! The staff was wonderful and the room was incredible. The ONLY thing for me was that the bed was too hard, but thats it. The breakfast was a REAL breakfast! Eggs, bacon, bagels, etc. It was an incredible spread. You can also serve your breakfast and take it back to your room. The staff was super helpful and patient and kind. I would recommend this hotel for anyone!
The best part of my stay was the shuttle service. I will stay again just for that! Brian and Rodney were just amazing! Melissa the manager was great too! she quickly put out a problem which could have become tragic for me as a person was smoking on the level and I reported it. She also helped me find my way back to the hotel after the sun went down. I really appreciated that and want her to know I said THANK YOU! The ladies who were my room attendants were good too. Trust is a big deal to me at all times and they were a solid team. I will be back to stay there just because of them!
This hotel was for the most part clean and comfortable. There were pretzals and cookies in the lobby at arrival, and a good warm breakfast in the morning. It was within walking distance to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, and lots of other historical areas. Our room had a beautiful view of the Ben Franklin bridge, and we were high enough that we didnt have any street or interstate noise. My only issues were the inattentiveness of the front desk staff, and the shuttle that was running extremely behind.
Our stay at the Holiday Inn Penn’s Landing was a mixed bag. Tswld the staff was friendly and help other weren’t. The front desk wasn’t always helpful while the management was. The shuttle drivers were, however, excellent! While our room was clean enough it could have used a good deep cleaning. Everything needed to be wiped down. We had clean towels daily, but things like lotions and coffee were not refilled, even after asking. I the past we have stayed at Holiday Inns and have had great experiences with friendly staff but were slightly disappointed this time.
I slept like a baby every night. My co-workers, however, did not. They were on higher floors and heard a lot of the highway traffic. The front desk provides white noise machines and ear plugs so that was awesome. I was on the 6th floor facing the river and didn’t hear the traffic at all. I took a picture every morning. The sunrise every morning was breathtaking. There was a great selection for breakfast. My only issue was that the shuttle start time wasn’t consistent. I was there for business and the shuttle took us to the office the first day, but the shuttle driver didn’t arrive to the hotel in time to take us the second day. That was the only time I had an issue with the shuttle. The drivers were always courteous and very knowledgeable. They pointed out landmarks during trips.
The location while Convenient, is very noisy and it does not appear that the hotel has taken any steps to soundproof the walls or the windows leading to the street. I have stayed at hotels in time square that were quieter. walls literally shaked in the middle of the night with drag racers outside every night. To pay for a room and then to have to pay separately for parking On the property seems greedy it really should be included in the cost of the room. The room had an odd Smell that no matter how much Febreze I used wouldn’t go away. Also someone in the bathroom above or below mine was clearly smoking cigarettes and the venting system connecting rooms have my room smelling of stale cigarettes as well. The staff are all lovely and helpful and the issues are nothing they can control but I would probably stay someplace different if I went to Philadelphia again.
I have to admit, I was a little wary considering how inexpensive this place is compared to other hotels in the area. But everything was really top notch, a great value for the price. The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was clean and well stocked with toiletries, the breakfast had a really good variety of options, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. A lot of space in the lobby/ground floor level to sit and relax (which was nice to have during a snowstorm) as well as get work done. I would definitely stay here again.
Comfortable beds, good service, convenient parking very good breakfast. Price is reasonable. Location to some downtown attractions a little further away than some Hotels. However, transportation options are good as well as reasonably convenient. Even though the Hotel is across the street from the river, views of the river are very good and a short walk across the street to piers as well as Penns Landing. Noise was higher than I had expected due to the city street outside and the nearby Ben Franklin Bridge traffic - yet, I would stay their again due to the other positive attributes.
The staff were so helpful and kind, this is how a hotel should be ran. I stayed at 4 different hotels on my time in this area and by far the people, the staff are what made this stay the best. The food at breakfast was very good with a great variety for the picky eater. The pancake machine was a hit with my group. Overall a wonderful experience.
Great location, reasonable rate, comfy accommodations, wonderful breakfast. Close to tourist spots and nice restaurants. Complimentary Shuttle was great so I didnt have to drive around and worry about parking. All staff with whom we interacted were friendly, gracious and helpful including the front desk personnel, the housekeeping staff, and the shuttle personnel. Although we didnt take advantage of the workout center it looked great.
Even though our room was clean and comfortable, the staff was very unfriendly, half of them were unmasked, and they did not offer any information about our stay, re: COVID regulations, breakfast, checkout, literally nothing. After checking in I got to my room and my key didnt work in the door so I had to come back down. No apology. It was pretty shocking. Also, the train and highway traffic off the bridge made it difficult to fall asleep. If youre a light sleeper and want to be extra sure youre safe from coronavirus, I wouldnt recommend this hotel.
The women at the front desk were really great. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs. The shuttle driver was a wonderful man, so kind and helpful! I had a great view, bed was comfortable. Room is small but sufficient. Road noise is bad, especially on other sides of hotel (I had river view). Room Cleaning needs improvement. Parking is convenient but expensive. Location is very good, near just about anything you want to do in Philly.
Our stay at this hotel was quiet and relaxing. The rooms were clean, spacious, quiet , and comfortable. We woke quite rested to the most amazing breakfast! Everything from pancakes, and omelttes to oatmeal and cereal. I couldnt have gotten a better breakfast out at a restaurant. The staff were very friendly and they honored our request for an early check in which made our experience so much easier. It is well located to the historic area and a five minute walk to the metro. We will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to philly!
My daughter and I stayed here for her spring break. Everything about the hotel and its employees was first class. We were welcomed with a bottle of water, hot chocolate, and a Philly pretzel. Since we were staying so long, we were upgraded to a suite, which was a welcome addition to our stay. The breakfast was good and an excellent way to start our day. We utilized the hotel shuttle that took us and picked us up to within 2 miles from the hotel. Many days we were able to walk back to the hotel since it was so close to the old/historic part of the city. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here again on a return visit.
I work in the hospitality industry so I am extremely picky. This hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Nick, the Front Desk Manager, went above and beyond in assisting with my reservations and his friendly, efficient manner made us look forward to our stay. The front desk agents at check in were great. The hotel is in a nice, safe location and the free shuttle is a fantastic bonus. Great shuttle drivers and they take you where you need to go (within their radius). Great view, clean, comfortable, excellent service. I would not hesitate to stay at this property again.
This HI Express is in a great location, you can easily walk to numerous restaurants and activities along the Delaware river. The room was clean, shower had plenty of hot water and pressure and beds were comfortable . Staff were friendly and ugraded my room! Large breakfast item selection. The only downside is you can hear traffic and trains from your room, even on the 10th floor. I was still able to get a very restful sleep using earplugs.I would stay here again!

2022-04-26The important thing to note about me is that my number 1 priority in a hotel is that its clean and has a bed and a shower. I dont generally need a lot of fuss and in those categories it excelled. The location was also great because we could leave our car parked and walk everywhere. The cost for what it was though was too high as it was just a budget hotel. Also, the refrigerator froze everything ruining my salad and not just a little, it was cold enough that it caused several sodas we had in there to burst. The drain in the tub did not drain. It was not really clear whether there was daily cleaning service or not, I know a lot of places stopped doing this during the pandemic but usually its noted somewhere or they tell you. The first day they didnt come but the second day they did come in and make our beds and leave fresh towels. This was kind of an issue because there were four of us and three towels.

2022-03-12Positive: the Hotel was great very clean everyone was friendly. It was a great location. Staff was wonderful. somehow my check out date was wrong and when I got back to the hotel she helped me out tremendously she was the best part of my stay. She is great! Negative: The extra parking fee but that was expected.

2022-04-22This room was noisy right next to the Ben Franklin bridge, multi lane highway and a rail line. The soundproofing if there was any was awful. They served coffee during the day in reception but locked the milk away! Breakfast was adequate - I have had much better at Holiday Inn express in the past at other locations. The room was not cleaned for the three days we were there although we were told it may not be so but the coffee machine was not reloaded. Pity about the above because the location was excellent - we comfortably walked everywhere.

2022-06-20Our room was 920. To close to highway....didnt sleep the 4 days/nights we were there. Went for my hubbys New Jersey Ship reunion. The guys had plenty of fun. Just the rooms by the highway where awful. Plus you can hear what your neighbors are doing and saying. Not good!!! But to have my hubby happy and being able to see his ship mates...thank you. See you in 3 yrs.

2021-12-08Very good hotel. All above average except sleep quality, which was probably mostly my own fault. Key cards seem to stop working easily, but they took care of that quickly. A seating area outside for smokers that wasnt blasted by wind would be nice, but its not worse than anywhere else. Beautiful lobby. Great location.

2021-12-28I saw the reviews about how noisy people thought the hotel was and thought they were exaggerating… boy was I wrong. The walls are paper thin so noises outside AND inside are amplified. I woke up from a nap thinking people had somehow gotten into our room. I could make out words so clearly. I have nothing nice to say about the hotel. Any good you may find will never outweigh the bad. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

2021-12-25The hotel is nice and I love their security as well.you have to use your room card to activate the elevator and they serve pork bacon in the complimentary breakfast!!! The lobby is nice and so were the staff. I will definitely stay again next time with someone I actually want to be there with!

2022-06-11Traveling with a huge group of kids and the hotel was extremely welcoming. Even put together a few mens care kits when a few kiddos realized they had forgotten some items. Beds were amazing. Breakfast was delicious. Thank you!

2021-11-14Upon arrival (1530 hrs) observed fenced parking lot with attendant. Hotel lobby clean but dated, staff friendly and informative. Room (1001) was clean and, again, dated with two queen beds, mini-frig, desk, large chair, and overlooked highway. Water pressure came and went (full force to slow stream) but plenty of hot water. Breakfast was good, eggs done, awesome little pancake machine, but limited other choices. Checkout went smoothly, staff pleasant. Felt secure and overall a pleasant stay. Good value for staying in Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing.

2022-06-08Room was dirty, hair in shower, dust all over, disgusting spray on the headboard. They refunded me a $100. But we couldnt shower & we slept at the end of the bed. It is a gorgeous view but was very disappointed with how dirty it was for the money. If I had the money to get a different hotel, I would of. The staff was super friendly though. For hundreds of dollars for one night, I should of been able to shower & sleep normally!
