Wonderful set up. I went in to look aT one kitten but the fit wasn’t just right. They asked some questions and then brought me another kitten to see. What a great match, the kitten adjusted quickly and I appreciated the goodie bag and information regarding my new kitten.
The nicest human society Ive ever been at.
This shelter has come so so far from what it was years ago. They had so little to work with in an old county barn that was disgusting. The new shelter took a long time to build with many many fundraisers and lots of hard work. It has a state of the art ventilation system which is so good for the animals health.The staff works hard, the shelter is cleaned daily, they all have a heart for every animal they take in. I personally know some of the people there and they are solid decent people.So many animals need homes, they take in whatever comes through their doors and try to make each animal comfortable warm fed and safe.Please adopt dont shop!
Nice Shelter. I believe it was Sharon who assisted me with getting the kitten I wanted. She made the adoption process so quick and easy! They even give you a little starter bag with food and toys. Would recommend adopting here.
Closed again due to covid so couldnt adopt but we found a kitten else where
The people who run this place jerked me around for no reason. I visited and filled out an application to adopt a dog, and they told me that they had to see the vaccination records for my other pets. Told me that I had ten days to get my cat a rabies booster, but that since its their policy that all adopted dogs need to have a vet visit, that I could just wait until I took the new dog for her mandatory vet visit to get my cat a rabies shot.I went the next day to do a visit with our other dog, at which point I decided that it was a good match and we definitely wanted to adopt. Then the women at the desk told me that no, they had to see all of the vaccination records before the dog could even leave. So much for adopting the dog and then taking them both to the vet at once. Meanwhile its the weekend, so I cant reach any vets.So Monday I make the soonest vet appointment that I can get, and round up all the rest of my vaccination paperwork over the course of the next three days. On the fifth day, I get a call saying that they received my records but had allowed someone else to adopt the dog. When I pointed out that the women at the desk told me I had ten days to get my cat vaccinated, she just said that someone was mistaken because they never hold dogs.Dont trust these people. First they lied about me being able to take the dog home without getting that last rabies vacc, and then I find out that I never had a chance anyways because they were just going to give the dog away to the fist person who came along. Submitting an application here means nothing. If youre going to not hold a dog for someone that wants to adopt it, you should make that abundantly clear at the beginning of the process.I am disappointed, furious, and heartbroken. I will not be adopting any animals from this shelter, ever.
Had a very awkward experience at this place. Walked in and was not greeted whatsoever. Just by confused looks and questions. They didnt even seem to take interest that I was considering adopting. No one was around to ask questions and when I asked to see one of the dogs, the gentleman who took us out back stood there and didnt talk while I was trying to get to know the dog. He seemed to care less about the questions I was asking anyways, and then when I said that I would have to consider it he just took the dog, put it into an outdoor cage and walked away without saying anything to me. I personally would not recommend this place if you are looking to adopt. Not very friendly and showed no enthusiasm towards me or the animal I was looking into.
Very welcoming, wonderful employees. My daughter adopted a yellow lab there last Wed. He was a run away. The kid that owned him was unable to take care of him so since we called everyday they had him and let them know we were so interested to give him a loving forever home. They found the owner who surrendered him to them. So we got a call he was ours and the next day we went and got him. He is a wonderful, fun lovinging, well behaved, housebroken, handsome 2 year old lab. He knows he has a forever home, he is already at home and it hasnt even been a week. We recommend if you are looking for a dog, please visit the Indiana county humane society, they have wonderful, beautiful dogs there that need all the love you can give them and plus a touch of your hand and show them there is great ppl out there who wont abuse them.
This humane society has some of the cleanest, most welcoming facilities in the area. They are able to provide safe and decently sized housing for large amounts of animals. Please stop by and consider adopting their pets!
Very clean kennels. The front desk people were super nice. The lady in the back was rough with animals and she slapped the kennel with a barking dog. She also admitted she has a dog left outside all the time.
The Staff were very great with us. They were so patient and helpful as we took time to pick the right cat for our family. We adopted from here, and it was such a great experience.
Very rude. They had picked my dog up when he was hit on the road. They told me on the phone that they took him to a vet but the vet couldnt save him. When I went to pick him up i waited in line. The people in front of me wasttrying to adopt a pet the woman was rude and to them. When I stepped up to the counter she asked what I wanted I told her that I was here to pick up my dog she told me to pull around back. When I pulled around the woman was inpatient with me when I had to make room in my trunk to put him in. They pulled him out of the building wrapped up in 2 black garbage bags he was bloated. They didnt even have him in a cool place to keep the body chilled . She told me that she picked him up and by the time she got back to the shelter he was already bloated. When I got him home and got himout of of the car he was bloated and smelling so bad like a dear that was on the highway for a few weeks. There was nuts flying out of the bag.
The animals were well taken care of and it was surprisingly easy to adopt my new kitten Spook. The only thing I disliked was the attitude of the staff working there. They were very rude and unwelcoming.
I think they do a great job,no matter how much room you have its never enough.if you have room in your heart for a pet,please adopt a rescue.
Trapped a stray cat. ICHS is our county funded animal shelter and is required to accept strays, but still gave me a hard time about bringing in the cat, saying they might be full and didnt think they could take it. I pointed out that the county funds them for this purpose, and questioned if I was supposed to just let the poor thing loose to starve. When I dropped off the cat I was treated like a criminal. Im not sure what these folks think they are accomplishing with their holier than thou attitudes, but they have lost my support.
People are great here nice personalities caring..... I have picked two pit bulls from the Humane Society.... great selections... but its getting very pricey
Recently updated and very clean. We spent a lot of time playing with the numerous cats in their cat room. I was pleasantly impressed with this humane society.
I give all animal shelters credit for taking in animals without homes. However one particular girl had a terrible disposition.
Very great place to go get a dog. They also have many cute kittys that would love to be adopted.
My son adopted a sweet dog. They have a wonderful facility and are so friendly.
The direction s took us right to the place where we needed to go. With no complication! Which was awesome. Because I hate driving in a city that I have no clue where Im at!
Rude and very unhelpful staff
I did think they were kind people until recently, almost everyone has negative thought and put there frustration on other people, I will never look for an animal here, just think of the animals.

I got my cat Corinne there and the owners r really nice. I must say that this place is amazing.

2022-03-14I adopted a dog named winslow a few months ago from this shelter and we have grown to love him. He is a part of our family now. The shelter is clean. Although I feel the front desk older woman could be a little more friendly. Im pleased with our new family member. He seemed very happy even being at the shelter. The younger adults seem to be good with the animals. I would consider adopting from here again.

2022-03-11Adopted our sweet girl Raven here aka stach however we renamed her. She is such a wonderful addition to our family and we couldnt be happier or more in love with her. The whole adoption process was very quick and easy from filling out the application to approval. All the cats I wanted to visit were all getting adopted which was great that they all found fur-ever homes so we decided to just walk into the cat community and just see and well sweet Raven climbed my leg and that was all it took. I like to say she adopted us since it was her idea to come home with us. The shelter is very clean especially with all of the animals they have. The staff and volunteers were all very nice and friendly. Will definitely adopt from here again when the time arrives.

2022-01-13Adopted 4 cats from the shelter in 2018, and two others since. Had no issues with being approved. Tried to submit multiple applications this year for a dog after our 14-year-old dog passed away. Never received a response.

2021-12-25I got my baby boy here 6 years ago and I’m so greatful for the things that these people do for these fur babies.The adoption process and background check didn’t take long and we were able to take my pup home a few days after we chose him. While he wasn’t fixed at first, but they made it easy to bring him back to the shelter to get him fixed.I’ve also volunteered here for a bit and the doggos are always as clean as you can keep them in a shelter. The cats and dogs are very well socialized.I wish that there wasn’t a need for shelters, but this is the next best thing for them from a loving home.

2018-02-21This facility is very clean, and well maintained. All of the staff are really enthusiastic and helpful when it comes to finding the perfect pet for you to adopt. The adoption process was very clearly laid out and you can tell that they care about placing each animal with a loving and caring home.

2021-11-09It is an absolute SHAME that these people are running this shelter!The managers of this place are absolutely nasty to other people and the other workers are flat out rude! If you are looking for volunteer work or service work I would 100% not recommend until they get new people in there! The managers were not just having a bad day either I was there multiple times being polite as I could ever be! They look at you in disgust and treat you like garbage! I have heard from multiple people that the people here were nasty and I did not listen simply because I just wanted to volunteer for the dogs! Moral of the story.... I should have listened stay away from this place 10/10 WOULD NOT recommend.

2022-01-25I was in the process of adopting a dog last year, I had never adopted a dog before I didnt know the protocol how long you were supposed to come visit the dog and then how long you were supposed to and bring that your dogs and I wasnt sure of the time frame and they didnt mention any of that to me I was a proved a Mastiff they had down there and I had visited him a couple times and they said it was time for me to bring my other dogs in to visit so I brought my bigger dog at first and then I was going to bring my smaller ones in when I had showed up with my smaller ones without a phone call they told me the dog was adopted out already. I was completely bummed out

2019-10-15The people who run this shelter are to be commended for the loving attention paid to the precious animals under their care. We picked up our little Diva, a few days ago and were very impressed with the cleanliness, friendliness of the staff and their dedication to finding good homes. Thank you so much for my little girl and for all u do for all the animals. God bless all of u.
