They have no elevator. I had to carry suitcases several times up several flights of stairs. In doing so I found out I tore the meniscus in my right knee. I will have to have painful surgery/recovery and will be missing work too. They were supposed to charge my room fee to AFFIRM, who they promote, but instead, they charged my credit union Visa. When I complained they did not know who AFFIRM was. I then called booking.com and got the same cluelessness. Same with Priceline. If this was a review about the staff I would give it the highest rating for they all were very nice. But, I will never stay there again nor would I ever do business with Priceline.com or Booking.com. They advertise a pool but guess what? No water. And the breakfast they show online? No, they dont have it. I could have stayed anywhere but this ruined my trip, cost me a lot of money and aggravation, and now injured my knee.
Warning:Do not stay at this hotel in Hershey Pennsylvania.Inn at Chocolate Avenue84 Sipe AvenueHummelstown, PennsylvaniaIt’s supposed to be run by Best Western but it was a joke, after waiting in a long line in the lobby and being told several time that it was ready for check in, we walked into the room and their were piles of dirty sheets on both beds, dirty towels piled on the chair, the sink had toothpaste and remnants of hair on it, and the toilet still had urine in it from the previous occupants who clearly did not know how to flush a toilet.I was told by the manager, Harry Stevens, that I wouldn’t be charged because of the hassle and the mess left from its previous occupants. Thank god I got written proof of this because I just found out they ran my card and charged me for the full amount when there was supposed to be a zero balance. We stayed here July 2nd they ran the charge to my account on the July 6th. I know there was a gentleman in front of me who was also having to speak with the same manager simultaneously so I hope that he has checked his account as well and hopefully is not having any issues with his refund. (he had reserved a suite and had prepaid for his stay)Ive made attempts to call the hotel, however their phone line has been disconnected ironically enough. Now I am having to go through my bank to dispute this charge!DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU ARE LOOKING TO GET RIPPED OFF!
They said check in was 3pm, but when I went at 3pm I was told that it should be more like 4 or 5p.. After discussing it with the desk person I was checked in, but charged an extra $50 per room in case of damage. Only good thing room was clean but very outdated. Also one room only had 3 towels in it and the second room was not given any towels had to go to store and get towels.
The room was nice and comfortable. The breakfast attendent this morning however was miserable. She yelled at the guests when they asked if there was more eggs and sausage. She kept making rude comments about people. She would reply with Im only one person. I cant be expected to make everything. And Ive been here since 545 so im tired. She yelled loudly at a guest and told her she shouldve woken up earlier when it was 930 and breakfast was supposed to be available till 10. It was not a good way to start our morning. And no one said a word to her to chill or go take a 5 minute break away from the situation. Management shouldve dealt with it better.
Positive: Very clean, quiet, everything (TV, Rrig.,heat, microwave, WFI, Shower, tub, bathroom fan, etc) worked perfectly, very inexpensive. very pleasant and accommodating staff, very close to Hershey Lodge, and perfect for what we needed Negative: I would have liked a full breakfast but at the price know that would not have been possible and plenty of good restraunts nearby. At the price the place was phenomenal! I loved it and will recommend to others!
Stay away from this dump!!! Horrible service no furniture in the room didnt even have a spot to sit except for the bed, the toilet paper holder was falling off the walll the main door didnt lock half the time and rhe pool was green during our entire stay there! Absolutely terrible hotel just dont book here period
Wow! I came with a group of developmental and mental delayed individuals. The girls had a blast! This was a great hotel that accommodated the girls needs and enhanced there trip immensely! The staff were amazing and worked with us all. The pool was great as well and the girls really enjoyed playing in it that even when it began raining they still stayed in! Overall great hotel! Definitely recommend!
Positive: Great location and a good value Negative: Loud HVAC system, difficult to control heat with outdated ¿dial¿, should upgrade to a real thermostat. Blankets were very thin for winter. Manager said new blankets were on order, but we are halfway through winter.
The sink isnt even inside the bathroom, the rooms are quite small and the bar of soap and showering tools they give you are embarrassing. However, for the one night stay we planned it was fine. We were able to get clean because we bought our own soap and shampoo. We were able to get a good nights sleep in the bed. So all in all, not a total bust. But, definitely not worth the 8 star rating on booking.com. I never did get to check out the pool, so take that as you will.
I wish I would have read the reviews before booking our stay here. We arrived really late and after driving a long time this is not what we expected.First off, the pictures on Priceline and google are so deceiving. This place looks nothing like the photos. They are doing repairs and should be shut down until they are finished. They even have signs on the door that say there fire alarms do not work and to report to 911 if you smell or see fire. Wow, huge safety hazard. The first room we had was dirty, the mirrors were filthy, the room wasn’t vacuumed and there was hair in the shower. There was no shower curtain either. The pillows were plastic and the bed wasn’t fully made up. We requested a new room and the girl was super nice about it, and claimed this never happened before. The second room was just as bad. Both smelled like cigarettes. There was hair in the shower, the toilet seat was not cleaned, and the room clearly wasn’t vacuumed. There was urine on the bathroom floor. We told the girl again about the issue. It was late and my wife just wanted to clean it and get some sleep so she offered to clean it ourselves because they were just going to keep switching rooms on us instead of calling housekeepers. They had no paper towels, they wanted her to clean with towels. Luckily we had Lysol wipes and febreeze in the car.The room had no typical necessities either: no phone, no clock, no microwave and no coffee pot.Grab and go breakfast is a joke. 3 small snacks in a paper bag, preschoolers get better breakfast than that. The towels are also a joke, they are so tiny and thin. This place isn’t worth the price at all. We’ve stayed in nicer places for cheaper. Don’t waste your money. The only thing about this place that’s decent is the staff, they were all very nice.
If I could give negative stars I would.Stayed here for 1 night on a drive from Florida back to Maine. Paid the room charge and a dog fee. Arrived at 9pm and left at 6am. Literally stayed here less the 10 hours and the dogs were perfect no mess, nothing.Upon arriving home I noticed my card has been charged another $50 that I had never been made aware of, I was told I had paid the dog fee that was required. It took me 3 days to try and get ahold of the manager.I had an extremely rude and unprofessional conversation with the manager. He barely spoke English, with no manners or customer service skills at all. He refused to explain what the fee was in regards to or refund it ?!Finally went through my banks fraud protection services and they had the same expierence with the manager! Happy to have gotten my money back, but Im afraid this guy has probably pulled the same stuff on others who may not have noticed the charge.Cant make this expierence up !!BEWARE DO NOT STAY HERE
It was… ok? But there was a sketchy clientele, not a clean room, no amenities such as a fridge and microwave which is standard anymore. The room was lit with bright LEDs instead of relaxing lighting. I saw a lot of hair everywhere including the towels (which were childrens size) and a couple bugs. They didn’t even have curtains. Just a draw string that didn’t block the light. I understand staffing is probably and issue at this time but we were woken up at 7:30 by a vacuum cleaner in the hallway which was just an annoyance since we couldn’t get back to sleep since there weren’t curtains. Just didn’t feel comfortable or relaxing at all. I was promised a fully furnished hotel room with a desk, dining area, and mini fridge and I got a creepy motel with zero amenities. Glad we only stayed one night but I feel like I over paid. I also feel super super super uncomfortable that there was no lock on the door.
Where do I start? This place is nothing like the pictures. Check in was to be at 3:00. Still unable to check in until after 4:00. No ice in any of the machines, all of them are broken. My room was filthy, the toilet wasn’t cleaned. There were pizza boxes behind the door. There was trash left in the bathroom. I had to walk through a construction zone with wires hanging down and drywall dirt everywhere. Old gym equipment sitting outside my room along with a huge dumpster full of trash and flies. No breakfast in the morning and the coffee pots were both empty at 9:00am. The lady said she was sorry but they have to stop coffee at 10:00 so she wasn’t making more. The hot tub is roped off with caution tape and the couple chairs that are out by the pool are broken. Ridiculous. I emailed management and have yet to hear back. Do yourself a favor and sleep in a box under a bridge.
I cant even give it 1 star. What a gross and dirty motel. This is not a hotel. Pool had green algae and mold every where. Jacuzzi was so cloudy and dark gray water. No breakfast. Room was dirty, wasnt vacuumed, bathtub had hair in drains, on the wall and was dirty. No fridge in 1 of our rooms (we had adjoining room), wardrobe cainet was dirty and broken. Air conditioning didnt work in 1 room and looked like mold in the vents of the ac unit. Photos shows the disgusting disarray this place is in. They.are remodeling but should close until they are back to fully functioning.
Where do I start? Towels for bathing were the size for a 2 year old. The room was always damp, and the place is currently under construction so it is a incomplete mess. The clientele worsen the experience, creatures of the night are the people that seem to stay here. They are not queen size beds they are fulls. No mini fridge and housekeeping is only if you request it. There was no breakfast in the lobby as advised. Bathrooms left half cleaned. Bed sheets were uncomfortable and had stains. Blanket is an unwashable children’s “blankie”. The door handles were dirty and did not lock. The window was covered in sludge as if a dog was in the room. Otherwise, staff was kind.
Horrible front desk service..Rude !!! Unacceptable!!! How can you book a room online with a confirmation number.. Get there and have no room ?? Then they tell you they have one for you but a different price ..?? Ummm, no, they did the same thing the people in front of us too!! KARMA!!
Low quality place. First room we got smelled terrible. Second room smelled good but had broken furniture, uncomfortable beds, low quality pillows, and the door to the bathroom was broken. The lady at the front was very nice but I had to wait about 8 minutes to check in despite no line.
We did not get maid service even after requesting it and we notice that the fire alarm did not have batteries, my husband went to the front desk to let them know and he was giving batteriesfor him to put them on the alarm(that is not his job!!!!). then to make matter worst the fire alarm get sounding off but the lights where not going off so i think that the alarm was not connected to the fire department. we did not sleep since it rang at 6am, 10pm and the rooms did not have telephone, cleanliness of rooms not good. PLEASE DONT STAY THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My family and I pulled into the parking lot. First thing you see is a bright green pool. Upon walking into the lobby and had a mix of moldy smell and cigarettes. There were bed bugs out of control. Needless to say we left and found another hotel. As we walked back to our cars there was a truck unloading new mattresses and box springs. The filthiest place I have ever seen! Do not go there at all!
This is not an Inn, it is a old motel and it has not been remolded, it has been redecorated. As we where driving from NY to Hershey my bored teenager started reading me all the 1 star reviews and I was very nervous as I checked in. However, I realize many of the poor reviews are probably due to high expectations. Because the building is so old, the bathrooms are very small and the recent new carpet glue was probably bad smelling the first few weeks but the smell was gone when we stayed. Because the building is so old it is very quit. An over tired toddler screaming in the hallway could not be heard once in the room next door. I had 2 rooms for the extended family and kids and the price was half what the next motel was and 20% of the Hershey Hotels. We had an issue with the key card not working and the staff has very helpful getting it resolved. Because the staff was so helpful and some reviews are overly harsh I wanted to give it 3 stars but my wife did have bites consistent with bedbugs a few days home...
Pretty terrible experience all in all! I know that everyone is understaffed in the wake of the pandemic and that everyone is hurting for staff. The staff was very friendly but after paying $475 for two weekend nights in July, I felt like I should at least be entitled to shampoo...or bath towels that were not the size of hand towels. Think: Starsky & Hutch locker room scene. The lower floor of the hotel was under construction and the place just felt damp inside overall. The furniture was beat to hell and the garbage cans were never emptied throughout the lobbies and pool area. The grab-and-go breakfast was really sad, consisting of a cup of applesauce, a tiny granola bar and muffin in a wrapper. I know its peak season but I dont see any reason for wanting to go back to this place!
We waited in the lobby for the front desk clerk who materialized after some time and was on FaceTime. The room is underwhelming. It doesnt appear that the floor has been vacuumed. There are cup rings in the night stand and I dont feel comfortable walking on the floor or taking a shower without shoes. The air conditioner is filthy and looks as if it has never been wiped with anything so I know the filter has never been changed. Economy is understandable, but do yourself a favor and just spend the extra money. Itll be worth it.
The place was totally dirty, there was mold in our room, the plumbing was broken, and there was a big hole in the wall. Might have been some renovation going on and still recovering from covid? No breakfast as advertised. Absolute mess in general. Understaffed! However, the staff were very friendly and attentive. Probably wont be back unless some major changes are made.
First, I will say that the pictures online are very deceiving. They do not match the current state of the hotel at all. Things are falling apart or broken, wallpaper is falling off, and the entire complex reeks of smoke/ weed. Second, while we tried to give it a chance, I couldnt in good conscience allow my children to sleep here. We reserved 2 rooms next to each other for my husband, 2 young children, and mother. They could not give us 2 rooms next to each other, but near each other. Fine. Our room smelled of smoke and the mirror showed signs that the room had not been properly cleaned. The second room had blood stains on the sheets. When we talked to the front desk about it he offered to switch rooms or provide us with sheets to change the bed ourselves. No sir. My mother switched rooms and that room smelled worse than the first. The employee on duty seemed completely overwhelmed. I would never recommend this hotel and I certainly would not want my family there. We ended up switching hotels to not risk getting sick.
Stay away from this disaster and a serious HEALTH WARNING! The 1 star rating is from the lack of smoke detector batteries (we bought batteries after waiting 5 hours for staff to arrive), toddler sized bath towels, barely working air conditioning, strong musty smellsin rooms and hallways, busted door edges, plastic pillows, and lack of tables in the rooms. The Health Warning is from the FILTHY air filters in our 2 rooms. See pictures (before and after rinsing). The overwhelmed staff were surprisingly pleasant.
Do not stay here! We checked in then OUT. We are not picky at all, but!!! Its nasty, dirty, very dated.all the doors open around back..to all the rooms. Looks and seemed like its a hotel for drug users. Honestly!!! One employee didnt care I forgot my mask when we walked in..
Positive: Horrible hotel. No elevator. No microwave. Was able to get mini fridge but it froze everything. 2 towels for 4 nights for 4 people. Beds were so hard. One little blanket with sheet on bed. Free breakfast was shut down so was no free breakfast. Lock broke Negative: No. Nothing. Horrible. Waste of money
Horrible. Horrible. Horrible dirty, filthy rooms: beds, furniture, tv, bathrooms, carpet. Beds are not queen size. Water damaged ceiling with moldy sheetrock. Door would not close or open properly without using my shoulder for force. I immediately left and requested a refund upon arrival. I’ve seen better conditions in Public Housing facilities. Only thing missing was roaches and bed bugs. HORRIBLE!!!
This hotel is NOTHING like the pictures, the furniture is brooken and not neat, the outlets dont work the only thing that was decent was the service everything else is horrible. The wifi in my room as well was horrible compared to other sections of the hotel, the breakfast was terrible as well with just 3 small snacks no drink at all. The smoke detectors had no batteries witch is a big safety hazard and the beds are very uncomfortable if i could rate it 0 stars i would.
This hotel was the worst hotel I ever stayed in in my lifetime. The cleanliness was not up to par it smelled so horrible the air conditioner was not maintained in months the room wasn’t cleaned before we checked in and tge beds are bot true to size. I gave it one star due to the location being very convenient and near everything.
THIS IS YOUR WARNING DON’T GO HERE .! EVER ! place looks nothing like the photos . beds are SOO UNCOMFORTABLE . sheets were stained . trash cans were full . breakfast was terrible . tub / shower was FILTHY . & shower curtains had mold . towels were soo little . room was dirty. HORRIBLE HOTEL ! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY GOING TO THIS DUMP !!
So Im not sure where to start. If you dont need to worry about health and safety then dont read my review. First we had two rooms neither door locked properly. One you just push open. The other the inside deadbolt wouldnt engage. The door frames are wood not steel. If you walk down hall you can see many door frames were kicked in at some point. New paint in room but didnt fix the water intrusion on exterior walls. The HVAC unit was contaminated with paint/sheetrock and spackle debris. The emergency exit light was painted over. The smoke detector in staircase was removed. The stairwell had open electrical outlets. The street stairwell had a locking door knob (someone can lock preventing exit in emergency) stairwell lots of debris and clutter/trash. One stairwell door propped open (should be closed all times) and one door was removed completely. (Supposed to be a fire stop) so thats that part. Both rooms didnt have towels or toilet paper or soap, shampoo. Some blue tape on floor from painters. Bathroom toilets are for tiny people. Bed was ok. Coffee was hot. To go breakfast needs improvement. These observations were just a few I saw. I didnt look for them other my passing. Sorry
Horrible experience. Listed on their website and Priceline that they are pet friendly. We were refused at check in because of pets. Hotel staff were extremely rude and unaccommodating. Hotel appeared unclean and there was talk of the smoke alarm system being broken. Avoid at all costs.
LISTEN. ROOMS NOT VACUUMED smelled terrible had to buy Lysol and febreeze and a Glaid plug in ...came with wife and two you kids..1/5 rooms that are occupied at this hotel all grouped together. Room phone doesnt work wifi down all day fire alarm went off 3 am for no reason, CONSTRUCTION happening as well. Leaving early. Place should be shut down.
For a very modest price the place was great. I had not noticed any indications for why this Inn was plagued with terrible reviews. This place was clean the staff was welcoming and they offered free breakfast that was even good. Somethings like the bathroom light switch did seem dated but it was all in working condition. The staff were down to earth and sweet. They allowed our dog and treated her as if she were another guest. We will most likely be staying there when we go back next time. Id suggest giving them a shot if you are looking for a cozy stay and you would rather save your money for your trip. Thank you.
From before you enter, the hotel, looks alright. We checked in at around 12 am. The front staff working the night shift was friendly. As we were walking down, the hallways are kinda creepy... The room has two full sized bed. We were hoping for a queen instead. The bathroom only has the bathtub, and the toilet. While the sink sits on the outside... The beds were decently comfy, but theyre kinda hard too. And the next morning, the breakfast... We were hoping for some protein, like sausage patties, cereal and pancakes//waffles. But they only give you a paper bag with a granola bar, muffin and apple sauce. Thats it... Overall its alright for $99 a night found on Google. But if you book here, do it online, or else up front it will be $145
Positive: Only thing going for this hotel was the friendly staff Negative: Bathroom was nasty shower didn¿t look like it was clean, shower head was falling off the wall largest towel provided was equivalent to a hand towel had to go to the front desk and ask for a larger towel and it still wasn¿t a full size towel, overpri
I have to say, after reading the reviews, after we booked, we were a little scared to stay here. However, once we got there, we realized that the reviews were way off... They have started the remodel, so the foyer was totally redone. There is no elevator, but its 1 floor up or down is the most you have to walk. Staff was amazing! I see a lot of reviews on the smell. Only place we noticed any bad smell was in the stairwell. Our room actually smelled like a starbucks. Lol. Remember tho, they r remodeling, and plan on a complete remodel by next year. So this although great as it was, will even be better next year. I def would stay there again!
Front desk staff was friendly but it couldnt overcome the experience. Checked in and checked out immediately for a full refund. If this building is undergoing a remodel its impossible to tell. Old lighting and a musty smell in the hallways. Our whole group was skeeved out in the rooms. Bathroom was very tiny and the room smelled like bug spray. Did not spend more than a half hour in this building.
It looked and smelled great when you walk in, and for the price we thought we found a hidden gem. There was no elevator which was not a deal breaker, but Im glad we didnt pack heavy bags. We got to the room and the door wouldnt close and it was out of square. I had to lift the door to close it and there was a lot of poorly done repairs. Still not a deal breaker even though it wasnt very clean. The I saw a weird bug, then another, and another, and they kept coming. That is when we decided it was time to go. There were other issues not worth putting into a long explanation but I would not recommend this place.
If I could give this place negative stars, I would. It was hands downs the most disgusting hotel weve ever stayed in. Had we not booked ahead and arrive from out of state at midnight, we would have asked for a refund and went elsewhere. We rented two rooms, #338 and #340. The television in 338 did not work, and 340 had TWO TVs in which neither of them worked. There was garbage all over the place, and the hallway and stairwells smelled like a combination of cat vomit and crayons. Do NOT waste your money on this dump.
Some of the rooms were good but mine had a toilet that did not flush all, it just clogged when there was nothing in it. Room didnt come with tv remote, buttons on tv didnt work. Smelled like mold unlike our teammates room. Door latch was broken, took forever for us and our coaches to get in. But the beds were pretty nice. I had a terrible experience
The only reason this place got a star at all is because of the convenient location. There is a very nice Italian restaurant right across the street and Hershey Park is close; that is about the best part... We got two rooms, both of which reeked of either smoke or pot, in fact the entire place smelled. One room had pee in the bed. The entire place is outtaded and there is mold everywhere, they were giving guests master keys because the normal ones didnt actually work in the doors. They werent allowed to do room service because of the virus, but of course no one told us this so we gave the service lady a tip which she took without actually doing any work.the toilet was overflowing so when we called and asked for a plunger they knocked on the door and left it outside. Then the residents that actually live at this motel have no regard for the actual guests. Not recommended.
Clean and nice looking. Staff was friendly and informative. Sad it looks like a mini fridge was removed. As well the jacuzzi isnt working either. The cabinet it looked like the fridge was in is broken so you walk into it when passing by. Other than that it was nice for a not bad price.
DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! Black mold literally all over the bathroom, like ive never seen. Wallpaper falling off, stained carpet, stained sheets. A different musty smell in every room. Truly offensive to ask people to pay for these rooms. Just dont. I get its not easy to care for a whole building but if youre not up for it dont manage a hotel. Straight up gross, camping in the woods wouldve been far cleaner and healthier. There was even a pizza crust in the air conditioner in plain sight. Lazy cleaning for lazy managers. Gordon Ramsay wouldnt even help this dump.
Disgusting. I received a voicemail while I was on my way to the “hotel” (was actually a motel being advertised as a hotel) saying the hot water heater broke and wouldn’t be fixed until Monday. That was fine bc I was only staying for 1 night. As I walked in there were signs on the doors saying the fire alarms don’t work and to call 911 if there’s a fire… Lobby was dirty and gross but the staff was very nice.As soon as I walked into my room I was hit with the smell of mildew. It REEKED. There was mold on the bathroom floor and hair in the beds. I hopped on google to read the reviews (expedia said it was a 3.4 star hotel) and wasn’t surprised to see the 2 star google rating. Once I read a review mentioning bed bugs I left immediately and found a much nicer hotel 10 mins away.Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra money for a nicer hotel. It’s worth it.
HORRIBLE!! I was so disgusted when my family and I went in the room. The beds looked slept in, there was no TP or Kleenex. There were 2 towels for the 3 of us. The toliet wouldnt flush and there was hair in the rub and on the 8×8 bathroom floor. When leaving the door wouldnt even shut right. GROSS. Dont stay here pay more for better place.
One night stay, was okay. I have to complaints one the a/c was on in the room, which would have been fine if it didnt smell musty and moldy (which was fine once I turned it off). Second Room was clean for the most part, tub was not the cleanest (did not use, due to this) and bathroom floor wasnt the cleanest. Over all it was okay for a 1 night stay
Do not go here. We arrived, waited about 45 minutes to get assigned our 2 rooms. 1 of them still had people staying there, the other seemed to have recently had an electrical fire. The outlet for the air conditioner was hanging out from the wall, and there were burn marks around it. The whole place smelled like cigarettes. Once we saw the rooms they gave us we immediately asked for a refund and left to stay at another place.
Checked out after 20 mins in the building. Only one employee in the whole building. Felt bad for the girl. Long line phone ringing and ringing. Lots of clients asking for things that should be in the room already. I checked in only to check out literally less than 5 mins later. Got to the room the door handle was falling off where you place the key, once in the room it the smell was unbearable. I walked into a spider web and saw more webs all on the ceiling. I also could not close the room door. It was literally falling off the hinges. You could see the damage on the wood and wall. Bathroom floor was filthy! Unless your on a strict budget, look elsewhere! Not worth it unless they completely renovate the property!
After leaving a nasty Red Roof Inn in Harrisburg, I found The Inn at Chocolate Avenue, which was closer to Hershey Park as well. I see a lot of other negative reviews and yeah it was not the greatest place, but the owners were really, really nice and they are in the middle of renovations. Our room was fine, it did not smell of cigarettes which is always a HUGE PLUS! There were a few issues with the room that I brought to their attention and they actually added it to their notepad of notes and were supper appreciative. We really just needed a place to sleep to get a head start on Hershey Park the next morning and it served its purpose. I am sure in the coming future they will be above and beyond great with all the renovations the are doing. Just my two cents on the place!
The place doesn’t even get a star but it forces me to give it a rating!! Their rooms were disgusting. The first room smelled like mold, the second like cigarettes and the third like marijuana. The staff couldn’t find the keys to rooms. Other guests were complaining about being given rooms that were already occupied. There was no costumer service skills, we were told oh well. So our family of 4 had to drive around looking for a place to stay and missing out on our time at Hershey Park. This place is disgusting and the staff were not friendly. Do Not Go here! It was a nightmare!
This hotel looks nothing like the pictures! The place was dirty and had mold on the walls! There was also a unknown stain on our mattress that was reddish brown. The furniture in the room was old and cut up. The only nice thing about this place was the hotel front desk lady that helped me get my money back.
Positive: The location Negative: They are under renovations. No microwave, no refrigerator, no hot breakfast like advertised. Crap all in the hallways and stairwells. They should list they are remodeling and take down that they have microwaves and refrigerators cause they dont.
Waited 20 mins for someone to check me in. Light in room didn’t work, carpet filthy, stain on wall, furniture broken and to top it off feces on the toilet. Immediately checked out and was told this was one of the best rooms they have. Haven’t received a refund and Groupon was no help! Horrible to have to deal with this on top of husband being admitted to nearby hospital!
So dirty. When we first wanted to check in, there was an issue with the payment not working in their system when we booked the hotel. Our room door could not close and the bathroom was dirty. There was no iron in our room and the outlets didnt work. When we tried to check in a little early there were maybe 5 cleaners.
This hotel was previously the Red Lion Inn.. the name changed this weekend but the hotel didn’t bother to tell people with reservations so you were stuck driving around. The hotel needs MAJOR updates. Very smelly, water damage on the ceiling, dusty and just overall dirty. Our stay was paid in full before arriving but then I discovered that the hotel charged my card again! As of this morning they are promising I will see a refund. Stay away from this place, total disaster!
Arrived and saw people drinking with a case of beer on the side.. that was the first red flag. After check in, we got out luggage and Once we got to the 3rd floor, it stunk of cigarettes and we walked right to the front desk for a full refund and left. And there was a drunk person in the hall and the hostess wanted us to watch which room he went to. Stay away
Mediocre at best. Breakfast was probably the best part, although selection was small, but still a nice feature to have in a hotel. Our room was basic, clean-ish, but smelled very damp and the AC was not working. The damp smell I later learned was coming from the AC unit. I complained and we were moved to a different room, which still smelled damp but the AC worked well. Shower was pitiful, water barely dripped out, and it was very hard to get the temperature right. Staff were friendly enough.
If I could give zero stars I would. Bed was hard as a rock, reddish stain on the sheer window shade and I didn’t see curtains. We were placed in a room that a street light shined straight into our window. The bath towels are so small, they’re suitable for a small child. No coffee pot or microwave in the room, mold on the shower curtain as well. Front desk staff was friendly but the gentleman had difficulty finding my reservation even though I had popped in and paid for it in the morning before heading to the park. I won’t stay here again and honestly want my money back. It wasn’t worth the $210 to just crash
It was a horrible stay. They didn’t clean the rooms from us coming back from our adventure. Construction had garbage on the stairwell. My sister had a broker shower head mold in the bathroom. Roaches and feathers in the swimming pool. It was horrible and we paid $800 for 2 rooms which was pricey for a mediocre place.
I was going to give this place a good review until I checked my credit card and they charged me an extra $200 saying that they smelled cigarette smoke and found ashes in the room and when I tried to explain that I dont smoke and it was incense they still didnt care so for all who go to this Inn do not burn anything in your room even candles or they will charge you
Awful. Pictures were very different from reality. No bathroom linens in room, no linens on pull out couch. The reservations were made for 2 adults with 2 kids, and they brought me 3 towels and only a blanket for the sofa bed. I had to ask multiple times in order to get everything we needed. At breakfast, they didnt have enough food for the number of guests. Interior is old and dingy. We paid for 2 nights and only stayed 1.
This place was so nasty i wouldnt even recommend for my dog to stay here. When we arrived our room door was open and not to mention it look like there was drugs left in our room. The bathroom was not clean and the place had a bad smell. The pool was even disgusting we checked in at 12:55.am And was out of there by 1:00am dont book this place because u will want a refund. they picture are false on they web site
READ THIS BEFORE YOU STAYPros:•Rooms were spacious•hotel was clean•friendly front desk employeesCons:•pool wasn’t great•no mini fridge, tiny table, or any accommodation to eat at•house keeping rude didn’t even knock just barged in at 8am realized we were in the room and just left didn’t apologize what so ever•vending machines had no stock•you can hear everything through the walls•the only light that lit up the room was the light near the sink•they did maintenance in next door rooms at 7am and were very loud.
The ceiling in the bathroom was moldy, the carpet stinks and its very dirty the towel was dirty and I spotted a bed bug, the little closet was dusty, the covers had a stain on them, the hallways smell like cigarettes, the batteries are out of the smoke detector, the ceiling has air bubbles in it and the walls to.
This place is not clean, found bed bugs in everybed, no towels to offer, no toilet paper. I drove 3 hours to come here and place was bad. No breakfast being served at all due to covid-19. The only good thing is the pool and the staff. They try their best to help but have no clue. I dont recommend booking here.
The staff is amazing and my room wasnt terrible. The floor I am on is decently clean. Carpet could be updated. Greta went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. And for the price we paid it was worth it. Some things need updating but the office staff makes it worth the stay.
The reason I am giving it one star instead of 2 is because of the price. If it were cheaper, then I would have given two stars only because you can’t expect a lot when you’re not paying much. Where to start….the place is under renovation and just has a dirty look to it. Carpets are old and outdated with a weird musty smell. We had only scalding hot water from the sink and my 9 year old son was burned pretty bad because it was scalding hot and only scalding hot. There was no other option. The breakfast was a cold muffin in a paper bag. The toilet paper was just a roll on the floor of the bathroom and the pillows felt and sounded as if they were made of paper. They rob you because it is close to Hershey Park and they know people will pay. Would definitely recommend spending a little more for somewhere else or just going fully cheap and staying at a motel. On the flip side, the staff was courteous and helpful for the most part.
If I could give this location 0 stars I would In regards to cleanliness! Absolutely disgusting! I will say that the staff was helpful as they could be and I appreciated that. The hallway smelt of mildew and dog pee and walking through the hallway you just felt dirty. The rooms were horrid! Nothing like the photos shown. The place was a total dump! The refrigerator had so much ice on the freezer it was disgusting! Everything about this place was disgusting. We had to leave and find a new hotel room. 10/10 would not recommend!
I would give this hotel a negative 10 if I could. Mold in the fridge, stains on the bed, floor was dirty, curtains dirty, bathroom had spider webs, walls were nasty...all around terrible. Cinnamon, the manager, is very rude. Couldnt understand the reason we wanted our money back. She thinks everything was fine. I would never recommend this place to anyone. Awful!
The room was clean and comfy. The soaps and lotions were above average quality which was nice. The night time staff was nice but seemed a bit rushed or annoyed by our presence. The morning staff was attentive and friendly, but couldnt keep up with the breakfast rush. The food was your typical hotel food. Nothing fancy.
We stayed here when visiting Hershey park. We had issues from the beginning. The entrance near the pool has a door that will not always open unless you have someone open it from inside. Reason is for shredded rubber on edge of door. Then we checked in and told us wrong room number. We ended up opening an occupied room. Once we had our room then things went better. Room was nice. They did not have anything but coffee for breakfast and our room had a street light that made room with blinds down still seem like it was day time making it hard to sleep or tell that it was night time. We did not use pool this time.
Theyre undergoing renovations so it wasnt as clean, specifically in the hallways, as I would expect. Some guests were very loud lately into the night which was irritating. The brown bag breakfast didnt sound appetizing so we skipped it. If you really need a place to stay this place will work but I will look at other places for next time.
Our stay at the inn at chocolate avenue was not the best. first of all when we checked into the hotel it was not like pictured on the website. the rooms and lobby didn’t not look what was picture and put on the website. the door that is supposed to be the “security door” and have to use a key to access is always open so anyone can walk through this whole hotel. rooms are out dated and the hallways smell like cigarette smoke. even though there are no smoking signs all over the hotel. our room was not cleaned out of the 3 nights we stayed. we didn’t get new towels and the trash was not taken. it looks like some of the guests are living here instead of only staying here. the employees do not wear masks at the hotel. the only employee that wears a mask is the one who sits at the front desk. also, the room keys do not work for the rooms. you have to get them reprogrammed every time you leave. the beds are very uncomfortable, you can feel the springs of the bed when you lay down. also, the outlets in the rooms do not work. i asked for extra towels for the shower and they gave us pool towels instead of regular full size shower towels. no complaints about pool area. when walking around hotel you will notice a lot of rooms are just open and no one will be staying in that room. the only plus of staying here was being very close to hersheypark.
I never even write reviews, but DO NOT come here. Our toilet didn’t flush and there was hair in our untouched bathroom towels that were provided by the hotel. The shade in the room is nearly see through and lets in a lot of light at night. Loud guests, power drill woke us up at 9am, and loud banging all throughout the night. The room across from us had a lot more problems so I guess we were lucky. When they got to their room their tub faucet was dripping and it wouldn’t shut off. No breakfast, parking lot is busted up, and has nearly no staff. The only good thing about this place is the proximity to Hersheypark and it’s in a safe area. But if I were to go to Hersheypark again, I would stay AWAY from this hotel. Just please do not go here.
Staying this hotel absolutely bad experience everything unclean, old and very poor service. I had to change 3 separate rooms because of broken stuff including bedsheets with blood.Zero choices of breakfast, few low quality items. The price for this type of cheap quality hotel thats unbelievable. I never recommend anyone to have such horrible experiences and can confirm you will never satisfied.Oh, one attraction pool that ok...!!
Stayed here this past weekend and the hotel was very nice. I dont know what all the bad reviews are about... but the people at the front desk were very nice and very helpful and the beds were nice and comfortable. The breakfast was also pretty tasty. I would 100% stay here again when heading to Hershey!
I just want to say we were in town for an appointment at Hershey medical center, with a very sick patient. I know the hotel is not a top dollar hotel, but I want to say the staff was more than top notch!! Better than most high end hotels. Or room was an average room it met all our needs. Any thing we needed with our special needs were met immediately and very very efficiently!!! Again I can not say enough about how the staff helped us!! I hope as the renovations get completed that we r able to visit again but maybe for a better reason. I know this will be a very beautiful place after their renovation. We did not need a posh hotel we needed an accommodating hotel and they excelled at it!! When staff offers to bring and carry food to our room to help because our patient was not able to make it to the dinning area, beyong exceptional!! Help with our heater, matnience was immediately at our door and worked very efficiently and quietly for our family member. Housekeeping with two extra blankets befor we even had to ask for it. The front counter staff was exceptionally friendly and very helpful with all my questions!! And did I mention this was our second visit because of coming to the HMC and both times were great!! Thank you Best Western Hershey Staff, you dont even know how much we appreciated you!!!!!
It was absolutely horrible! Had to switch our room 3 times. First room the door didnt even shut, the second room said it was cleaned but could very well tell it was not, the third room also said it was cleaned but the hundreds of hand prints on the mirrors showed that wasnt truthful either. Only tiny little hand towels were given to us for the shower. The entire first floor smelled awful. If you wanted to get high all you would have to do is take a walk through the hallways. The self locking doors that you are suppose to use your room key to enter the building did not lock. The pool was nice and the air conditioner worked. That is all I can say on a positive note. Oh, and the gentleman that was working the front desk when we got there was very nice and he did his best to find us a decent room. Will never ever stay there again.
I wouldnt recommend this hotel. My family and I arrived to a room with mold on the curtains and a broken bed. We asked for a different room, in which they gave us. That one was no better; had stains on the bed, patched up holes on the wall, mold in the bathroom. We were shown about 4 other rooms and they all looked the same and they were all disgusting!!!!!! Yes, the hotel is old and out of date but regardless, it should still be clean. I was surprised to see so many people staying there. They must not care if they get sick. The pictures online show a total different description...false advertisement. My family and I ended up leaving and thankfully found another hotel that was nice and clean for their guests.
We stayed at this hotel for one night and thank goodness that is it. We stayed in a room that the door didnt lock, there was no door knob on the bathroom door, & no cold water in the shower. We drove 4 hours to get there and wanted to come to a nice comfortable room & a nice shower. The water was so hot you couldnt even wash your face. That room shouldnt even have been allowed to be reserved.
False advertising! My children cried after hearing the pool was closed even when we called in advance and made sure. Me and my family were also disappointed on the layout of the room and the broken furniture. My wife avoided the gym and decided to walk laps around the hotel. They also claimed breakfast was included however breakfast isnt included. The back of the hotel looks like a crime scene! Overall we were very disappointed the way the front desk dealt with our complaints. Also there were only 2 towels for a family of 4. We plan to switch to a different hotel with breakfast, an open pool, 2 queen beds, and better service.I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone! Best thing out of the trip was we fun at Hersheypark.
This hotel was absolutely horrible! The pictures they show are clearly not what you get! Place is a dump rooms where dirty food left in fridge stains all over the carpets 🤮. My friend cut her finger on broken glass under the bed! So glad we had Lysol spray! Ended up checking out at 10pm and went to A Beautiful Hampton INN which was perfect! Do yourself a favor spend the extra money somewhere else!
When we first checked in for our reservation they had trouble finding a king room but upgraded us to a suite for the inconvenience all the staff are very friendly and helpful was a good place to stay for a night to go to the amusement park thats only like 5mins away the pool is open until 10pm kids absolutely loved it very clean rooms no breakfast due to corona but very close to a bunch of places to eat the only downfall is some of the other guests that were staying there made it uncomfortable seen 2 room doors kicked in, saying rude comments to us walking down the hallway to our room, and smoking weed... but overall wasnt a bad experience cant beat the price either Id stay here again
The keys to the rooms did not work i had to get them change like 4 times. When i first arrived they charged me more then what i was told i would me charged. Then the room was dirty.House keepers are the best here. They try so hard.to help you. But the things that are wrong is out of there hands.Hotel could be a money machine if they took they time and fix this place up.But the rugs dirty the curtin rippedThey have. A beautiful pool.
Room was clean but since its under construction which we didnt know about there were random beds and fridges by the stairs. No phones in the room or elevators, night front desk had their child and called a group of childern poor people in front of my child. Breakfast selection was a brown bag with an apple and granola bar. Pool was chipped and kinda dirty
The website leaves a lot to be desired. Strong (dirty) odor. Dirty room and common areas. Rude staff. AC only blew luke warm air. Refrigerator did not cool, freezer was broken. Due to the low quality of everything else, we couldn’t bring ourselves to use the shower... filth! Do NOT believe the website... not worth even if free!
Lord have mercy where do I start. I paid $210 for one night.Lets start on the bathroom. The toilet hadnt been cleaned because there were poop stains in the bowl. The shower curried had meldew on it. There was a weird red strain on 1/4 of the tub. Pretty sure it was rust. There were water stains on any fixture that had metal on it.In the bedroom, there was trash in the drawers, damaged furniture, and everything just looked dingey. If I could give it a zero I would. I stayed for my wedding night and got sick in the middle of the night due to a weird smell.
Not a clear entrance and main check in area from the front. We were confused about where to check in. Rooms and main areas Not updated. Clear water damage in the ceiling. No elevator; had to lug all our bags up stairs. Room was clean but still felt dingy. Night staff was helpful but the day staff seemed unclear about checkout procedure. Outdoor pool was nice though.
Avoid! We walked away when we found trash (empty bottle, orange peel) in the dark, musty, cramped, and depressing room. They refused to give a refund, even after Expedia advocating on our behalf; nevertheless, I’d rather loose the $100+ than to stay in this place. It’s really that bad. We ultimately stayed in Harrisburg and had an excellent experience. Avoid this place!
We were very disappointed with the unclean ; poorly kept room. The sink was dirty. The shower didnt work right. The foul oder when running the heat was disgusting. The building is very outdated. Even getting clean wash clothes was difficult. The service was very poor. Sorry we cant recommend this place.

2022-07-03I am so glad for all the people who say they got nice clean rooms and nicely made beds...I am going to say they are employees ...because on July 2 2022 a whole lobby of people being checked in coming back to say .my beds are not made...my bathroom has wet dirty towels with flies in the bathroom. Yes I was one as well. When I booked my room and spoke to a representative I was assured I was booking a suite. A room with 2 queen beds a separate area with full size refrigerator and stove top , microwave and a pull out couch..NOT ONLY DID I NOT GET THE ROOM I PAID FOR .YOU THEN GIVE US DIRTY NON CLEAN ROOM. I would never recommend this place ever again. I wish I had taken photos . The cherry on tip was when I was told there was no reason for me to be upset.

2022-06-25This hotel was in a perfect location to everything we wanted to do in Hershey, PA. The pool was awesome, and the kids made a lot of great memories playing with other kids. The room was clean. Breakfast was not amazing, but pretty reasonable. What WAS fabulous was the staff. Young gentleman in the afternoon at check in and a young lady in the morning, as well as cleaning staff were very professional, friendly, and attentive. They went out of their way to assist my husband (who has a bad back) and got him extra pillows to make our stay more pleasant. There were some other questions and minor issues that were handled by them beautifully. I wish i remembered their names.

2022-03-02Its a nice little motel. Its not the best place but its a clean motel. The beds were clean and nicely made. The bathroom was clean. The fridge is small but its a motel so Im not sure why other people were complaining. All in all it was a nice place to stay a week while we waited to move into our new apartment. If we only had enough things for like a vacation this would have been perfect. The only reason we are feeling any kind of cramped is because we have too many things to put in the fridge.

2022-06-16Staff was very friendly, pool was azing and kept up. Bedroom was beautiful and smelled wonderful, beds were very comfortable, breakfast was nice as well. If youre having to go to Hershey medical center this is where you definitely need to stay. The hospital is right around the corner from the inn. Fresh towels to dry yourself off by the pool, comfortable lounge chairs, also have regular chairs and table to eat at and enjoy the sun or a quick bite to eat. Will definitely stay here again. Thank you to the Inn for a wonderful stay.

2022-03-08The Parking lot is a bit confusing at first but its not a big deal. The room was okay. The Room was a bit small and there was no desk. However it was clean and well maintained. The Staff is where this place shines. Everyone was nice and very helpful. The lady at the front desk was able to get me into my room early which really helped me out.

2022-04-11I come to Hershey once a year. This year we changed from Econo lodge to this place because it was a little cheaper. We get to our room and everything was fine at first. I did notice 1 dead ant on the window next to AC but thought nothing of it. Woke up the next day and there were ants all over the AC unit crawling on the the carpet next to my bed! I go to the front desk to get help and the lady working the counter was really rude. She never once said sorry about anything. Seemed annoyed that we wanted to move and kept saying she didnt have anymore rooms. She proceeds to tell me she was sending a maintenance man to come check it out. Two maintenance guys aka owners come in with roach and ant spray saying they will spray it with us in the room on the AC unit that we would be using?? Spray poison on a Ac unit that we would inhale?? I refused to stay in the room if he was going to spray and asked to be moved. They storm out the room and tell me to go to the front desk to be moved. Now the lady at the front desk has spare rooms what a coincidence 🤦🏿♂️. We were moved to a room with a broke Ac unit so we froze all night! No discount offered for the inconveniences. Never once apologized. Straight mean and rude! I will never step foot in this place again and I advise you to do the same. Horrible Service and Bugs! Disgusting!

2022-03-05Checked in for 2 weeks. They gave us an outside room which we didn’t mind. the first room was 120, we had no issues at first. One morning after dropping my fiancé off at work i noticed all of our trash was gone. They didn’t have housekeeping due to covid and they refused to tell us who was in our room. That same night i noticed Bed bug bites on my stomach. The following night my fiancé killed a roach, and that morning i was putting my son down for a nap and saw another big crawling on our mattress. They refused to switch our rooms until pest control came. About an hour later they switched our room to 102, and pest control came to 120 about 4 hours later. We noticed tonight there were BED BUGS. When we talked to the manager he refused to look at pictures or acknowledge anything because pest control was marked as no bugs. He then kicked us out, he gave us 30 minutes to gather our things and leave before the cops came.

2022-06-18Rooms are clean but the layout is very small. Bathrooms are extremely small. And no table in the room. Worst part was the door to the room was so hard to close and open. Fix that. Staff was extremely nice. And area where breakfast is, that just needs to be kept a bit cleaner.

2022-06-27Staff was friendly and the property was clean. Only negatives are that check in was supposed to be at 4 pm and rooms were not ready til 8pm or after. They said some of their laundry equipment broke down which was putting them way behind. The other was the pool, it smelled NASTY and was super cloudy. The tiles around it were broken or missing. This could definately be a great hotel, but they need to do some upgrades.

2022-06-28Clean - amazing staff (2 gentlemen checking in were fabulous)! BEST pool around!!Clean - nice selections for breakfast. The way I saw some checking in treating these folks just shameful - stop going to these types of places and expect more then what you pay for!! People also really need to stop being so rude when there is a wait - we live in a new world - this I want this and want it now nonsense is why people DONT work and why your waiting - be king be courteous or stay home!! It stressed me out checking in. NOT because of the staff. It was how ignorant the people ahead of me were treating them - like if you want more don’t book and wait till check in to change - thanks fellas I appreciated the chats and the way you both handed those nasties !! Keep calm keep keeping on !! I will for sure be back - the location was also perfect for where we wanted to go - if your going to Hershey this is a great find! Clean - caring - safe what more do u need
