Had an absolutely amazing stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco. Somehow they manage to meld together a modern-edgy vibe with warm and eloquent ambiance. It works and makes you feel like a million bucks. The rooms are spacious (had a 2 queen bed room), beds are ultra comfortable, bathroom is massive and water pressure was perfect. Guests are treated to a wine social hour in the early evening and coffee and tea in the morning. Great stay, 110% would return.Only complaint, the guest service attendants at the door could be more welcoming and willing to help with luggage offloading/loading. They didnt help hold the door open while bringing the luggage cart through and the luggage cart didnt have a wheel brake, so it kept wanting to creep off the sidewalk and into the road...guys just stayed at their post, watching the struggle.
The best thing about this hotel is its location. Located right in old city and easy walking distance to constitution hall, the liberty bell, museums, shops and restaurants. However for the price, I found amnenities lacking. The room we had (single king) was very small, and not well lit. The shower sprayed water all over the bathroom. The in room furniture, TV, etc all seemed old. Our view outside of the room was an alley with a dumpster...Bed was comfortable, and room was quiet. Great location, however the hotel itself really needs an update.
This hotel is a combination of cute and swanky and it’s in a great location to visit old town Philly! Maybe not $400 a night swanky (like we paid) but definitely a cut above some of the other less expensive choices in this area. The room was really clean and the bed was super comfy.
Did not actually get a chance to stay due to having to cancel for family reasons and the process was extremely difficult. I am appreciative that I was allowed to cancel a day after the grace period expired. However, after being told I would be refunded I was not and had to call multiple times to inquire about the refund and kept being told it was coming for days and days by multiple people until a week later when a staff member stated it was done that day after days of being told it had already been completed. I am sure the place is nice but if anything unexpected arises the hotels staff is very difficult to communicate with.
This is a very nice hotel in a great location. You are steps from Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and other historical markers. Its also has easy access to the subway to make getting around easier. The tavern on the first floor has some very delicious food as well.
Place was a disappointment. In the photos looks like they have a nice rooftop lounge for guests. Turns out its not owned by the hotel and it’s 100$ per head for a table. You can’t find a place to lounge, have a beer and read a book or hang with the wife.Rooms are super small and dated.A decent place, but not great. Location is fantastic but hotel is just OK. But definitely not the boutique place they make it out to be on hotels.com and Priceline.Definitely so-so.
Gorgeous…and I mean gorgeous views. We got picked for a free upgrade to one of their corner spa rooms and I’ve never had a better night in Philly. The bathtub was large enough to fit 2+ people and when you look out the windows, you have a view of independence hall as well as the building/park that the liberty bell is kept in! Highly recommend this hotel if you’re spending the week to sightsee in historic Philadelphia. We were able to make a 20 minute walk to and from dinner with no issues. I would be coming here again.
Great location. everyone was friendly. rooms are beautiful. just make sure you are NOT on top floor. there is a club and a wedding kept us up all night our first night. they offered to move us but with two dogs and luggage unpacked, it wasn’t feasible. we had a noise machine and pillows over our head and it was pounding. would really have appreciated knowing about it beforehand. when called downstairs they said they didn’t know when it was ending, which seems odd since i’m sure they signed a contract etc. if i knew it was that loud and long, i probably would have moved.
We were treated like kings and queens. The service rooms veiw location all impeccable. Loved looking out my window and seeing Independence Hall all aglow as I went to slumber in there amazing beds. Two nights there every placed I looked I saw another detail I enjoyed.
It was a nice enough stay. The hotel was beautiful and modern but, without the novelty, it might have been just meh. The shower was only half a wall, so you could easily splash water all over the bathroom. The water also took a really long time to warm up. The room felt spacious and you could adjust the thermostat well, so that was a bonus. However, everything was just a liiittle old or dirty. You could easily point out places where things needed to be repaired or repainted. I also enjoyed that the bed was high up but this might not work for everyone. I’m 5’7” and I felt like I had to do a little hop. If you’re shorter, this might be uncomfortable. We didn’t get to try out the bar or anything because last call was around 9pm. I feel like that’s too early for a bar. Overall, the place was a nice experience but I don’t think it’s worth the price.
Previously enjoyed staying at this hotel but if youre staying over a Friday and Saturday be warned you wont get any sleep because of the extended opening times of the bar which has the music blaring until the early hours of the morning. When you consider the main purpose of a hotel is to provide you with somewhere peaceful for the night this is ridiculous.
Pretty disappointed. Stay started off well, but went off the rails overnight. Fire alarm went off at 2 AM. Carried my 2 year old down the stairs and evacuated with rest of the hotel guests. Get to lobby and there is zero direction or leadership from the night staff. Not what I would expect from a supposedly 4 star hotel. Tons of guests milling about trying to get some sort of guidance. Turns out the fire alarm was pulled by some young rooftop bar-goers - all who looked extremely over-served on their way out of the hotel. My opinion -pass on this place and stay elsewhere - many better options in the area.
Very nicely designed hotel lobby and the room where I stayed, the bed was comfortable.Be aware if you stay here on the weekend you will bump into drunk people in the elevator at night coming from the rooftop lounge. My encounter was not pleasant.. Also there is no room service.
Positive: Location. Restaurant is overpriced but food is very good And restaurant staff is lovely Negative: Many amenities not available however pricing does not reflect this. Rooms were dirty/dusty, stained bedding, glass around headboards cracked, Housekeeping unavailable until checkout, no concierge. Guests left dogs unattended in rooms all night barking.
I had reservation at this hotel and I requested complimentary upgrade as part of Platinum Ambassador member. The lady wasnt educated enough about the membership status and edited my room category which eventually affected my room price. I called them again and someone else picked up the call. The person again was not able to identified the last person who messed up my reservation. Moreover, to fix the price change issue , he asked me to downgrade the room category to price match to original rate. At this point I was totally mad. I cant stay at hotel whose employees arent aware of membership status level. So eventually i cancelled my booking. Please educate the manager and the employees about Platinum Ambassador membership.
Last minute trip to Philly and I saw online their was a Kimpton Hotel located right in the center of the historic area .I had stayed at one of there other hotels the Palomar Phoenix and was so impressed that I booked a 2 night stay. It was a great decision everyone was so professional and nice . Being a busy 3 day Memorial weekend crowd they had there hands full. We did not get the Liberty bell room we booked but soon realized that west side of the building liberty bell room was the hottest side so our south facing room was much better . The hotel and room décor was beautiful , our bath was a bit small but functional . The shower in our room had plenty of hot water and let me tell you if you get room 831 that shower is like being under a waterfall it was awesome!! We did explore the roof deck as it is a tradition that we get a drink before going out to dinner and it was a beautiful space with very attentive staff. The drinks we ordered an old fashion and a mojito were just so-so but anywhere you go these days its hard to find good bartenders . Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel for its great location , friendly and professional staff and comfortable rooms .
We booked a block of rooms for my daughters wedding last weekend. The experience couldnt have been better. From our first contact with the hotel staff to check out everything was perfect. Originally the wedding was planned pre-pandemic, when we had to change our wedding date to a year later than originally planned, the staff at Hotel Monaco couldnt have been more accommodating, not only did they allow us to change the date, they kept the pricing at the same level for us. As the date got closer, I worked with Sara Shilobod who was so accommodating, professional and efficient. She answered all my questions and eased any concerns I had. She provided me an updated list of the rooms booked under our block on a regular basis and when it looked like the one night we would have have enough room, she opened up more for our guests. The staff at the hotel, from the bell-men to the valets to the front desk staff to the cleaning staff couldnt have been better. They were so attentive and friendly and helpful! We provided gift bags for all our guests and the staff delivered them to each of the rooms for us. The rooms were clean and lovely. The suite that my daughter and her bridesmaids got ready in was lovely and was the perfect place for wedding pictures of her and the girls getting ready. All the guests in our wedding block commented on how much they loved the hotel and especially the location so close to Independence Mall. We also hosted a Farewell Breakfast the day after the wedding. We worked with Shannon Glass and Ally Kershner to coordinate the breakfast. They were very helpful and efficient! The food was hot and delicious - a perfect ending to a perfect weekend! We had one issue with our hotel bill, but it was resolved immediately! I cant say enough good things about Kimptons Hotel Monaco and their staff. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Philadelphia!
Positive: Clean funky and great location. Decent gym. Negative: TV prevents you from plugging any device into it or change the input is absurd. It¿s 2022 no one in there right mind is going to rent off these silly hotel room TV¿s. It¿s cheap and petty. Also 90 minute to get the valet was beyond absurd.
Positive: The location was excellent. Negative: The cleanliness was horrible. For a 4.5 star hotel I would expect the carpets to be clean but had old dog vomit on it. When we showered the bath tub filled up which was nasty. We also could smelled when someone was pooping in their bathroom next door.
Our one dog is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Its been a real rollercoaster for us so we decided to do a quick last family vacation while our dog is still happy. We planned a busy weekend full of dog friendly events and locations. Unfortunately, we had a rainy weekend. Luckily, we stayed at one of the most dog friendly hotels in the city. Our two dogs loved staying at Kimpton Palomar as well as the extra belly rubs and attention. Before we checked in, I explained to them our situation and they went ABOVE and BEYOND by creating a nice and thoughtful welcome package for our dogs as well as for my fiancé and myself. I really cant stress enough how much we needed this vacation as a family and was so happy Kimpton has played a part in this happy memory.
Positive: The location was great. Negative: Yes, alot. For starters, I was charged 4 times for the hotels. Twice for a $569.00 fee. They then again charged my account which accounted for $1200 in charges. From 10pm-3am there was loud being played that could be heard the whole night.
Update: While we were disappointed in the lack of service and our room service that we paid for and never came, I am thankful that the manager followed up with me right away and offered me some money back. He is also addressing the issues we had with his staff. I really appreciate his prompt response and the opportunity to make this right.
Front desk would not honor their food voucher, despite clearly advertising it on the sheet they hand you at check in. There is also a hefty $75/ night deposit required at the time of check in. This may have been advertised elsewhere, but the food voucher small print was not! Be transparent about your costs, for the principle of it!
Picked this hotel because they let you bring a dog for free. But the room was small and they like to overcharge you.Room:- door is paper thing, woke up at 3 a.m in the morning because some wedding party just came back. They were on the other side of the hallway but you could hear them as if they were next to you. A- room was tiny, I thought I was in a hotel in NYC, but dont even think about walking without accidentally step on your dog or his bed.Service:- Mentioned to the front desk that we would need a dog bowl for water. Then we would have to call again in the room because I guess they forgot?- The food in the red owl was just hard to swallow. I have no idea how they burnt a steak when I asked for medium rare. It was like eating coals.- Waited 20 minutes for valet to show up.Also not sure if it is a trend with IHG but they tend to over charge you. - I was charged for mini bar, which is really funny because there wasnt anything in the mini bar!- I was also charged for another day of valet parking.- I booked through Amex travels the hotel collection, and this hotel does not honor the price provided, so I will have to raise a dispute.Location was great. Right next to the liberty bell, but Philly is not a big city. You could just walk to everywhere.
I don’t understand this hotel, or why I keep staying here which I have a few times now. The staff is aloof and doesn’t really know how to satisfy a guest. It’s a lot of fake hustle. It’s like everyone smiled and says “let me take care of that for ya”, but they really don’t. The restaurant staff also the same way, just kinda weird. Housekeeping are the ones that do the best job with hospitality honestly, but they still never cleaned my room lol. Also, I had a last minute meeting come up that needed a quiet space for a few of my colleagues and I, so I spoke to the staff and they wouldn’t even allow me to utilize one of the many EMPTY meeting rooms for any less than $300. $300 for maybe an hour or so to help out an IHG elite member. I booked this hotel for my two colleagues and I for a total of 6 nights, you’d have thought that SOME COMPASSION would have been afforded us for this short meeting space usage. We instead got a Wework space nearby for 2 hours at $50. Oh, and Wework was packed, I wonder why?I’ve learned my lesson, because you finally taught me the lesson, and that is if you want a decent hotel experience then you have to stick with the real hotel brands like Marriott and Hilton.
Poor management. They had a 21st birthday party and security refused to control Carolines vapid idiotic guests who then proceeded to pull the fire alarm and wake everyone up. We had to leave the building with a 2 yr old a 6 yr and 14 yr old into the cold streets while Caroline and her guests laughed and were visibly very drunk and overserved. Security seemed to believe that this was not a big deal and it seems like a Common occurrence. Motel 6 management with good decor. Do not patronize.
Positive: Very unique, great staff, nice restaurant, great service. Negative: Rooms are worn out. Burns on carpet, scratches, and dings in all furniture. Nothing has been changed in at least ten years and it really shows. For the price and rating, they need to refresh the paint, carpets, furniture and everything else in the rooms.
Self Parking & the Check In Process was extremely frustrating, even knowing it is in downtown. I wont get into the details. We booked a king room with the hotel knowing that we had 3 members of our party but when we got there we didnt have a couch and their cots were eligible for the type of room we had due to fire code so we took turns with one of us sleeping on the floor at night. That being said, room was great, view was awesome, and you could not be better situated if you are coming to Philly for the Independence Park and all its attractions. They are right outside of your door. It is also within 20 minutes walking distance to South St, Penns Landing, City Hall, Reading Terminal Market, Rittenhouse Square and much more. Despite the issues we had initially, we come to Philly once a year and would stay here again.
The stay was okay. The customer service has been a nightmare. They couldn’t print my bill when I checked out. I have been trying to get a copy for 2 weeks now. I’ve literally spent hours on hold trying to get a copy of my bill. They promised to send and never did. Awful. Avoid it for work related travel.
Awesome hotel. Within walking distance of everything in Old City. Quiet and friendly. We are having an amazing stay. We will be back.Update: We are back! A big shout out to the Monaco for another awesome trip. We upgraded our room and it doesnt disappoint. Even the inside of the closet has character. We have an amazing view from our window. We couldnt be happier!
We definitely expected more from this hotel, being a Kimpton. Weve stayed at the before and loved our experiences. This time the room was excellent but the service was garbage. We asked for extra towels waited 6 hours, didnt get any so I stopped a maid and asked her for some. We asked for spoons for food we had ordered and waited for 2 hours before they said we had to come down and get them. The phones in the room didnt work so when they called, the call was just dropped.
We came from Los Angeles for a surgical procedure at a nearby Philadelphia Hospital. We were very impressed with the staff. Shasta one of the managers, was very professional, kind and accommodating. Chauncy at the front desk and Greg the bell-person, were very courteous and helpful... and always with a smile. These 3 individuals are shining stars at this hotel. The food at the Red Owl was very good! The rooms are cozy, and the view over-looking Liberty Park makes this hotel the very best.
I am going to start with the good: The hotel is in a prime location and it is clean. The room was clean and quiet, just like we requested. The unexpected: The cars are parked 4 blocks from the hotel and you have to call a number for one of the valets to go pick up your car every time you want to use it. Not necessarily bad, but not what we were expecting. No one came to make our beds or clean our room after the first night (we stayed 2 nights). We later found a folded down piece of paper on the desk that explained that this is their policy during Covid. The bad: it was hard to adjust the room temperature and the air was terribly dry. Hot water came out of the cold water tap and it took a good 2 minutes to turn into cold water.
Hotel was gorgeous, rooms were superb. However we booked/paid through hotels.com and Monaco double charged us for the room. The first woman at the front desk was very helpful, said no problem. Upon check out, a different woman, probably the manager told us basically to get lost and we’d have to call hotels.com to sort it out. It’s fine, the credit card company gave us a refund. Just a hassle. Still recommend staying here.
Stayed here for three days. Not a great experience. Staff were fairly rude, especially in the lobby bar. Hot water took forever to get to the shower, warned up about the time I was ready to get out. Despite asking to be away from the elevators, we were right next to them and got to listen to people coming in from partying as they yelled back and forth down the hall. I recommend going elsewhere.
If you’re looking for a place to damage your car as they bring it back from valet and then deny it happened, look no further. This place will exceed your wildest dreams. Want to get real hot and bothered? You’ll have to wait over an hour for said damaged vehicle to arrive to you. If there was a way to scream to the Philly area to avoid this place at all costs, I would be the first to strain my vocal cords. But this review is the most I can do. I thought the quality of my stay would match the price I paid to stay at this poor excuse of a high end hotel. I wish I took the time to scroll through the 1 star reviews that reflect the terrible experiences others had before I booked my stay. The sad excuse of professionalism that management has is absolutely inexcusable. There is no making things right, only denying they happened and offering to waive your overnight parking fee for your troubles. Thank you so very much for your generous donation of $57 to go towards the damage you caused to my car. Truly, don’t know how I got so lucky! On a serious note, stay anywhere but here. Horrible experience all around.
The rooms are very cozy and the hotel has a rustic feel. Plenty of space to store luggage and clothes plus access to an iron in the room. The bed was comfortable and clean. Theres also a nice rooftop bar area as well as an indoor bar on the first floor. We were there during a wedding weekend so it was faster to take the stairs from the third floor vs waiting for the elevator at times.
I booked two rooms for a night with points and two rooms through Chase Rewards. The valet service was confusing and I heard multiple complaints from patrons checking in. I was told I could not valet my van even though I’d called the day before to confirm. Due to the lack of parking in the area, we were only able to stay one night and I cancelled my Chase rooms for the 29th on the night we arrived (the 28th). The cancellation did not say it was not refundable until after I’d cancelled the first room. I called Chase and they contacted the hotel, but the manager refused to approve the refund to Chase. I will most likely not be staying here in the future, and I will definitely recommend my friends not stay here. If you want to approve a Chase Rewards refund, you’re welcome to reach out to me.Also, the room was not vacuumed and the shower plug had a massive wad of hair in the drain that prevented it from draining. I am generally easily pleased, but water building up in the shower is one of the most disgusting experiences in a hotel. Please see posted pictures of the dirty floors and shower hair.
Had a wonderful stay this past weekend for my birthday and even though it was short stay for the one night I enjoyed myself. I like that the staff was nice. The room was clean and the whole place looked clean like the hallways and such. Easy check in and check out. Coming back soon for the rooftop bar and maybe have some type of private dinner there next year for my graduation.
The hotel is located in the heart of historic Philadelphia. The rooms are very comfortable and decorated nicely. Public areas are well appointed and relaxing. Coffee available each morning in the lobby is the best around. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and attentive.
This is a very nice hotel with beautiful decor. It fits the historical feeling of the area. Its in a great location, right across the street from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. There are two complaints I have. First is the beds are very small so make sure you know that. Also, the parking is very confusing and if you ask the valet attendants about self parking, they will point you to park in the wrong garage and you will have no in and out privileges if you park there. Make sure to ask for specific details about parking when you are checking in.
Its winter time, no hot water for a shower. Was told by management I should have called and they would have told me to run the sink at the same time to start up the hot water. Did I miss an orientation seminar?TV remote and phones did not work. Clearly there is no maintenance controls here. As I lay here, some kind of HVAC related system is rumbling mad above me and its well beyond bedtime. Not worth it, and not Kimpton quality.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The beds and room were comfortable. Great water pressure. My companion and I discussed the interior design at length. It was interesting and different.Due to COVID some of the normal amenities were understandably changed or not available. We werent able to catch the coffee and wine in the living room.Enjoyed service at the restaurant. Close to all the historical sites. It was a great stay overall.
Great hotel! So much character and style, but also functional for a business trip. Excellent location. Room was quiet. It had a desk with outlets to work at. The meeting room in the basement was also great. The staff helped set up the AV equipment and it worked out great with a small buffet area just outside the room so we could eat as well.
Location, location, location! Right in the heart of Old City across the street from Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Nice ambiance in the entire hotel. Service was excellent and our room was very clean. My wife and I had an inside room but my daughter had the corner suite that was very spacious with a great view. I am a local and would definitely recommend this place for visitors. Will definitely return for events that require an overnight stay.
Checked in after a terrible day of flooding at our home a few blocks away, hours in the veterinary emergency center and just wanted to relax. The room next door had a barking/howling dog. I called to complain, and the FDR said he would take care of it. It went on for another twenty minutes and stopped. Another half hour goes by, 10:30pm and the dog starts howling again. I called and the FDR said he called and texted the room occupant, and she claimed to have returned to a sleeping dog. He also said he sent the building engineer up “and he stood outside the room for an entire minute and heard nothing”. While we were on the phone, the dog began howling again, so I grabbed my phone and recorded it and went to the front desk, furious for essentially being called a liar.I played the video, and requested they do their job and follow policy. He offered to move us to another room. That was it. My wife was trying to relax in the soaking tub, and this guy wanted US to move instead of enforcing the policy of no disruptive pets. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again.I gave it two stars simply because the room was nice.
Moussa went ABOVE AND BEYOND for me. Our stay isnt until may and he made me feel just like a normal guest! I am disabled and making reservations can be something to loathe. NOT WITH MOUSSA!!! He managed to find me a soaking tub so I can rest my Complex Regional Pain Syndrome leg! I have a degree in hospitality and I was blown away at half on a way at how wonderful Musa handled all of my questions and I cannot wait meet him in person.
The rooms are nice but the service is horrible. I was rudely told by the front desk supervisor, Maria, that I could not put my incidentals on another card as I watched another couple do the same thing I requested. I when I said I had the money for the stay, they still refused and settled on me reducing my stay by a night. They also charged my card twice and said it failed to go through when it actually did. I’ve stayed at Kimpton properties for awhile now. This needs to go under new management. If this is how Kimpton properties treat you, I would prefer to stay somewhere else.
Amazingly beautiful hotel. We came to the Brian McKnight concert at the Rivers Cascino and stayed at the Kimpton overnight. It was such a great hotel. Great staff. They also have valet parking and you can leave as many times as you need to. The Valet Haykeen was very helpful. The tall gentlemen at check in was so friendly. The room were impeccable clean. The decor was also exquisite! We will be back!
The rudeness, lack of customer service and incompetency with the front desk was disgusting. We were there for my daughters wedding, they literally made it more stressful in the 3 days we were there then we had in the two years prior in planning the big day!! I was totally embarrassed to find out at breakfast our guest were also subjected to the same experience as we were. For the price, housekeeping was subpar. Carpets, windows were dirty and even when housekeeping was requested they never responded. This hotel needs a good management training course. Unforgiveable!!!!!!
Great hotel and fantastic location. Love the cool, eclectic style of the hotel. Beds are comfy. Plenty of closet space and drawers. Lighting in the bathroom is okay - not great. Only complaint is the tv. Really old system with no ability to log in to streaming services. It’s 2021. That should be a given. Still, very nice hotel.
Nice, clean hotel in a historic area of Philly. Room decor is a little unusual, mixing French countryside yellow and blue with Asian red, but it was a nice change of pace from the more drab decor of other chains.Staff was friendly and elevators were plentiful and fast. Disappointed that the rooftop lounge/patio was closed; its only open Thursday through Saturday. Even if theres no service, itd be nice to have seating areas open to guests.
This place, unfortunately, is a complete disaster. We drove up around noon and there was no space in the two lanes in front of the hotel to drop off, check in and have valet park the car. Went to a local garage and parked by ourselves. Entering the hotel there were 25-30 people waiting to get their cars from the valet. There were 10 people waiting in the lobby for the front desk. We still dont have our room and its well after check in time. There are multiple exasperated families also in the lobby waiting for their rooms. Kids are just sitting on the floor eating chicken fingers. No staff has any idea about the rooms. Nobody is helpful. Everyone has an attitude. I guess thats understandable just given the stress and tension throughout the place. Exceptionally poorly managed. If you have a choice dont stay here.
The good:Location is the best! We’re in a one bedroom suite, which is spacious and beautiful. The bed is comfortable, towels are thick and there are two robes in the closet. Most of the staff is friendly and accommodating. Gregory is delightful. The bad:No daily cleaning. You have to ask for it 24 hours in advance. The bathtub, which is described as a spa, is inconvenient, slippery and is just a free standing deep bathtub.Only one hook in the bathroom. No tea and coffee in the room.A front desk employee (a female) is curt. And my pet peeve: If you utilize texting to stay in touch with your guests, make sure your employees can distinguish between ‘your’ and ‘you’re’.
Location is perfect for a weekend trip. The overall design and amenities are nice. However, it loses a star because there are some areas in need of attention. The armchair in our room (although beautiful) had a stain in it. I noticed several places where the wallpaper was separating. The service was great. Front desk staff were very helpful. Also note that if you are driving, parking is high (even for the city).
Stayed at many kimptons before from Austin, la to nyc...this location is at the very bottom of the list. Very inconsistent from the cleanliness of the rooms to the front staffs attitudes. Only pro is the location. Its conveniently located near old city, walking distance to city hall/shopping places and near a Wawa.Checked in to find hair in the bathroom and bags of linens outside the hallways at 10pm ( totally understanding if its during the check-in /out times as the staff prep the rooms). For the front staff, Ive had the opportunity of staying there on two separate occasions and found the staff to be hit or miss with their attitudes. It does get busy during check-ins/outs and Im understanding since everywhere is understaff but no need to give me an attitude that the new guy gave me the wrong paper during check in 4 days ago...I recommend checking out nearby hotels before committing to this kimpton.
Loved the ambience & touches to the hotel & the rooms. Room was comfortable, pet friendly, and staff were awesome. Loved how close the hotel is to major attractions (Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, & Eastern State Penitentiary, as well as others). Only inconveniences were parking & some disconnects in communication (e.g., hotel has an arrangement for self-parking with a deck and the staff person at the hotel initially gave us incorrect info; the hotel granted us a late check out but neglected to update our key cards). Still giving 5 stars because, overall, the staff we interfaced with were great, especially the housekeeping & people who helped us with our bags.
This hotel is superb. The decor was very unique and they had a nice bar. Staff was very friendly and professional, room was well furnished, bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was nice too. Would highly recommend. I plan to stay here again next time Im in town.
The room was beautiful and comfortable, except for a problem getting hot water for a shower. By the third night, I had NO hot water and had to suffer through a cold shower. The night staff was nice enough to offer a $50 credit (on my business stay), but that has turned out to be a huge frustration. When I checked out the next morning, the front desk chastised me for not bringing up the credit prior to him invoicing my stay. Mind you, I was verifying the credit had been applied, which it had not, so its the night staffs oversight, not mine. I wasnt sure how to respond to.... Why didnt you say something earlier? [huff, huff] Now I have to redo the bill. It was a bit unexpected considering I had the cold shower, not man at the front desk. When I got home later that day and checked the invoice, I found the wrong card was given the credit. My colleague got the credit, not my personal credit card. So, I have an invoice that doesnt match what MY card was charged for the stay, which makes reimbursement difficult.Ive now called the hotel 3 times to get it corrected, and have been told each time it was resolved, which it is not! The refund still isnt showing up on my card, and Ive been told to wait another 3-5 days to see if it appears (again). Each conversation is the same... I am bothering the staff with my measly $50 issue. It seems my expectations are too high....If you dont care about hot showers, or courteous behavior from the front staff, this is your place. For me, I will likely not stay here again solely because of how I was treated by several of the people Ive spoken with at this hotel while trying to resolve their error. Hot water issues can be resolved, but this hotel lacks staff that know how to treat people.
I highly recommend this hotel. I stayed for nearly two weeks visiting family in Denver. All of the hotel staff were kind and helpful. They were willing to go above and beyond. The room was spacious and well-apportioned. Looking forward to staying here again. Special thanks to Elisa, Paulina, Heather and so many others at the Hotel Monaco!
One of our rooms wasn’t ready at the check in time. With three kids under 10 who have walked around the city all day, was very frustrating. Especially when I ask why it wasn’t ready and when would it be the shanta was really rude and said because and never messaged me when the room was ready. The sheets on the bed weren’t fitted sheets. The came up through the night and I was sleeping on the mattress when I woke up which I found really gross. The bar/restaurant closed really early. There was a wedding party at the roof top bar so no hotel guest were able to go up there! That would’ve been nice to know!!The wedding party was so loud I could hear thumping music in our room pretty late into the night.I will say the valet was amazing! I really appreciate their help to find a spot in the city.
Absolutely outstanding! My husband and I had to leave another hotel in the middle of the night for our safety. (The other hotel was very unsafe) The Kimpton went above and beyond to accommodate my family of 6. We have four small children and we felt more than secure there. Just walking inside, we were impressed. Every single staff member we encountered looked professional, acted respectful of all guests, and went out of their way to make us comfortable. Especially the front desk person Marcus. I could rant and rave all day about this place, from their free valet, decor, attached restaurant, exceptional staff, and not to mention the GREAT location, directly across from The Liberty Bell! We are Eagles fans and will definitely be staying HERE every time we visit! Worth every penny.
Nice hotel. Had a corner room with an amazing view. Great location, but the hotel itself was nothing really special. Would definitely stay there again, but would have really liked to feel like it was special for the price paid. I guess the location is worth the price.
Just stayed here over the weekend for my wedding in olde city. The hotel decor and the room was excellent but the staff suckeddddd. Everyone had an attitude except the valet guys. They were the only ones nice to me. Even housekeeping gave me an attitude. I did not feel welcome at all. But at least my wedding was great!
Stayed here for a business trip. $200 a night for a closet sized room with a TV from 2011. The TV is locked up so you cant use your own devices on it (such as a firestick or whatever) so youre forced to use the hotels terrible hospitality setup on the TV (aka pay-per-view). The shower doesnt have a door or curtain so water just pours all over the floor every time youre in there. $8 bottles of water. Called for guest services three separate times during my stay and not one time did anyone actually answer the phone.I ended up changing plans and going home a day early rather than stay in that hotel again, despite getting charged for the extra night. I literally paid to NOT have to stay there again. I would never book the Hotel Monaco ever, ever, ever again.Oh also there are homeless people just milling around the front door. Which really adds to the Philly flavor.
I’m not sure if it was worth the price, but it did its job. The location was great, but the view from our room was incredibly disappointing, some of the designs on the walls were disturbing, and only half the shower had a glass “door”. Because there’s no door for half the shower water went all over the floor. We could see where the wood on the wall and door was being eroded from it. It wasn’t bad, we just don’t think it was worth $223 (after tax and fees) for one night.
Went here for a company trip. They lost the paperwork stating that the company was paying, made us pay when we got there. Room wasn’t ready, came back at check in time and wouldn’t give us a key unless we paid again even though we showed them it was already on our account. Said they needed to because they didn’t save the card to their file. Assured us we would be reimbursed. Would not take the company card over the phone.We. Canceled the reservation and did not stay there because of this. They said we would not be charged and they would take the charge off our account. They did not and charged us $250 for canceling.Called to ask to have it removed, told us they could not remove it right away, we asked for a manger and they said no and hung up.Worst experience with a hotel. No customer service the entire time.
Positive: Location in Olde Town historic district was excellent. Morning coffee service in main lobby was very nice. Negative: We chose a spa king room. Assumed it has a jetted tub or Jacuzzi. Not the case: Has a large bathtub, for soaking, I was told. No jets. Self parking was a challenge. Lot was difficult to find. Once found, had to go 2 floors underground . Tough
Hotel was very nice. Everyone was very professional. Logan escorted us to our room and from there we could tell it was going to be a great experience. You could tell he takes pride in his job.The room decor was a tad interesting but I assume it falls in line with the overall theme of the hotel. We stayed here for our 12th year wedding anniversary.Great time and looking forward to our next stay here.
Positive: The location Negative: This didnt feel like 4+ star hotel. Check in was slow. The room smelled like mildew. The tables weren¿t wiped down. Shower was cold. The bathroom wood was rotting from water splashing from the shower. I was not happy with the stay. Cleanliness please!
Cool hotel with a really neat decor. Some might say the rooms are a bit small if youre used to most chain hotels, but I personally dont think the rooms are THAT small that its a problem. The staff was great and friendly. The restaurant inside the hotel has great breakfast and coffee as well.
I get that the hotel is dog friendly, but the 4th floor literally sounded like a dog kennel all day and night. When we brought this to the front desk, the response was that they had received calls from other guests that prior night and, Oh nooo, sorry about that (period). Seems the calls from the guests shouldve been followed by action, but, this is, in fact, a hotel staff which prioritizes dogs over people. If this sounds blissful, go for it, though if youd like a restful night in a people hotel, stay far away.
We stayed here for my daughter’s wedding. My check in lacked information about the hotel and area. There is no coffee in the room, but it is offered in the reception area, but I had to be told this by another guest. We tried to eat at the Restaurant for breakfast, which had empty seats, but they turned us away. Don’t get me wrong, the staff was amazing. It’s an expensive hotel, but we didn’t feel it was worth the extra $$$.
In the middle of a historic part of the town, cool hotel.Walking distance to all the museums and historical sites. Plenty of restaurants around. Free coffee and tea in the lobby in the mornings. The kitchen closes in the tavern in the afternoon after brunch so it makes watching NFL games on Sunday evening not really an optionPlan on valet parking your car.
We had a beautiful corner suite that was amazing, and all day and night long we got to hear what sounded like a kennel next door to us. Our mistake for booking a pet friendly hotel, but at some point it becomes ridiculous. These dogs sounded like large breed dogs and they barked the entire 48 hours we were there. Loudly. At first I thought it was police dogs and the place was being raided. There should be some type of policy for quite hours or something for those of us not wishing to spend our vacation in a kennel. Trust me, it was really bad.
The hotel is beautiful! Bed was comfy for me but for hubby not so much. The decor is amazing! So much and it all works so beautifully! The bathroom is super gorgeous! No mini fridge or microwave so make sure you eat what you get. Check in/out was fine. The staff was pleasant. Parking was crazy at first but worked out okay. We enjoyed our stay overall. 🤗
$55/night Valet, TERRIBLE service. Valet pickup and drop off is on a very busy street and a crowded sidewalk. Also took over 20min to give my car and over and hour to receive it. Also, several people on our group had a multiple items stolen from their vehicles. No lets get to the hotel. Check-in was fine. Ridiculous design in the foyer, huge medium-pile carpet circle in the center makes it hard to move luggage around. Restaurant is crowded and has uncomfortable seating to go with an unimpressive breakfast menu. Not sure about lunch and dinner.Rooms were small with fancy but unintuitively placed furniture. Shower is the second biggest dissatisfier after the valet. It doesnt close. One glass panel that only spans half the length of the shower and of course thats not the side where the knobs are. Mirror took over 20 minutes to defog with the fan on and the door completely open. Ask Hilton about this because they have some that dont fog at all.Doubt our company will ever use this hotel again and I regret not staying at a Hilton instead and just driving over for our meetings.
We came here for a wedding, the ambiance was great great but the staff was even better. The bartender, Vicki, was quick, engaging, and checked every single glass before she served it. We had a great experience and will definitely come back and recommend to many friends!
I have been longing to stay at this hotel. It’s decor is amazing! Their diverse staff is very polite and informative and they definitely take safety and cleaning protocols seriously. I stayed for two nights for my wedding. As soon as David, the fronts desk associate knew he kindly offered me a small bottle of wine. I didn’t use any other services, but I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay again...maybe next time with a park view!
I attended a wedding at Hotel Monaco this evening and it was an amazing experience. Amazing service. A special shout out to Khalequz, our bartender for the evening. He made the night as enjoyable as possible. He remembered my drink every time and was extremely pleasant every time I approached him. With the customer service skills he has, he deserves a fat raise. Go Khalequz! And go Hotel Monaco!
Property was aesthetically pleasing but when I was checked into the room it looked like no one attended to it. There was dust everywhere and a lingering smell of smoke. The headboards and mirrors were cracked. The bathtub broken and I was still checked into the room. Super disappointed in my experience. The front desk receptionist seemed annoyed with me the moment I walked in and even seemed to profile me before I even stepped up to check in. The manager on duty seemed to get annoyed with me as well when I brought up my issues. My wife was insulted by the hostess at the Red owl tavern the very next morning. It’s sad in setting of our forefathers where my family came to enjoy the sites and history all we were left with was a feeling of being letdown
Not worth the money and not following covid safety guidelines. We booked this hotel because it advertised having roof top beer garden. They also mention it in their welcome letter they send you upon check in but it was not open. We only found out by going up to the roof and seeing the place closed and deserted.. The beer garden was basically the only reason we chose this hotel over others in the area because we are wary of dining indoors because of the ongoing pandemic and the the new variants. So that was a huge let down right off the bat. The lobby and common areas are packed with people milling around, most without masks. Thats not the hotels fault as vaccinated people do not have to wear them now but I highly doubt all of those people were vaccinated. That is concerning but once again, not the hotels fault but what is their fault is posting signs about only one travel party per elevator car but not following or enforcing it. Several times we got on the elevator and a staff member got on too then allowed several more guests to enter it. I mean the elevator was packed! So annoying and stressful. Then once we got to our room we noticed debris on the floor and a SPIDER on our pillow! So they are clearly not cleaning the rooms thoroughly. We didnt bother asking to have someone clean the room since we had already felt like we were being exposed to too many people. I suppose we shouldnt have chosen to stay there during covid but for the price and for as much as they post signage and talk about safety we thought it would be ok. Even without covid being a factor I would say this place is over priced. Just disappointing.
The price they charge for their 12x12 tiny box of a room is absolutely crazy. We had dirty socks left by the previous people as well as a dirty bathroom & dirty towels so it made us highly question if they really even do clean properly especially during a time like covid. Stains on the towels that looked fresh, dirty toilet bowl & seat, left over clothing on the ground in the room & stains on top of the bathroom sink everywhere & the mirror wasnt even clean after the previous people who stayed. The location is near by everything so that part is very convenient but this had to be hands down one of the top 5 worst hotel/motel stays Ive ever had. I called downstairs to the front desk to request some new towels 3 times and no one answered. Luckily my co-worker who was staying in a separate room had extras that were clean so I used his. Their stand up shower only had half a glass covering so the other open half literally would spray out water & make puddles on the floor whenever you showered. WHO IN THE RIGHT MIND thought that it was a good idea!?!? We had to use multiple small towels after each shower to dry up and prevent us from slipping.
We stayed here for our wedding and we worked with Hotel Monaco to reserve a room block for our guests. We booked a suite and were disappointed to find the room dirty and blood on the bedding. When we told the front desk, all we got was a new set of sheets and Im sorry you experienced that. Our guests also had similar issues in their rooms. On top of that, the hotel staff did not try to go above and beyond for us or any of our guests, even though we were literally spending thousands of dollars. We were beyond disappointed with the experience.
We just stated at this hotel for a wedding this past Friday (4/23/21) and we spent almost $400 for a small room, facing an alleyway and other peoples rooms on the 3rd floor, one of the towels in our room when we got there was soiled and disgusting. When we told the hotel staff about the towel housekeeping offered an apology but no discount or other considerations for that gross unwelcoming first impression. I would strongly recommend you not stay here.
Visited for one day room was upgraded with a view of independence hall. The room was big but decor is old. Also room does not have any coffee machine(We have visited other 4star properties and coffee machines was always included). The parking is far from the hotel. Rooftop was closed for the season.Staff was pleasant and helpful in providing the directions for parking.
The hotel is great, the gym is decent. Booked for 6 nights, the rooftop with cocktail service sold me. When I arrived, they put me in a room with no view or sunlight. I called and requested another room and they told me nothing was available. So I went downstairs and repeated that this room wasn’t going to work. They put me in room across the hall which was 100% better.I went upstairs to rooftop and it was closed . I figured the day after 4th maybe they needed recovery time. The next day I went up and it was still closed. I called later and they told me it was open only Fridays and Saturdays but it was closed for the next four weeks for weddings. Yeah, something like should be noted clearly on their website — or don’t described it at as an amenity on other booking sites. I’m extremely annoyed by this. Minus 1 star, I would take 2 but that may be a little unfair.Other than this major disappointment the hotel is great. The shower pressure is A+ and the hot water is A++
Good hotel at good position of Philadelphia, I like the interior. The only thing I need to say about this hotel is that the beddings touches a little damp, even though they are dry, I dont know what is the reason. It will be a perfect hotel to bring your wife or girlfriend, though unfortunately I dont have one.
The hotel is very well located. It has a beautiful decoration but I was expecting something else for the price. Not access to the fridge. No extra pillows or blankets in the room. No shower cap, razors and other in the bathroom. The access to the terrace was close (it didn’t say anything in the website).
The hotel itself is fine and is in a great location. However I really would not recommend based on my experience with the customer service. I was overcharged for parking and when I called to have it resolved they could not do anything for me expect give me the number of the parking garage. I’ve called this number several times and gotten no response. I was also told the block of rooms I booked would be next to each other end they were not. The lady I spoke to about this was quite rude rude. Very unimpressed, do not recommend staying here if you want to be treated well.
The service is second to none. The hotel takes security and sanitation very seriously especially with COVID, allowing only one party per elevator and practicing social distancing. The staff is friendly and helpful at all times. The rooms are large and superb; you will not find anything close to its quality at their price at this extremely convenient location. The only downside is their shower doors which are getting upgraded throughout the hotel, per my conversation with the front desk. The facilities and service more than make up for it and so Im giving this hotel my full recommendation.
We booked a hotel room here on Priceline and when we arrived they let us know they were double-booked and told us they couldn’t accommodate the booking we’d had confided for days and then bought us a hotel room at the Wyndham, which is a 3-star hotel. The front concierges were actually super nice and seemed to really hate doing that to us, but the fact that their management makes them do that is super gross. If you’re considering working here, skip it. 0/10 would not recommend unless you want to sit in the lobby for an hour while they try to book you somewhere else that’s worse.
Honestly this place is nice, however the valet is ridiculous, $55 a day and you wait 40 min for them to get your car. Also they just leave the keys at this unattended stand, so if you wanted you could easily get your car stolen. Also the parking lot they use is not far, during the height of Covid they didn’t have valet and we had to park ourselves, it’s less than a 10 min walk. No excuse not worth the price
This was the perfect stay- the room was absolutely spotless, room service was delicious, the bed was comfy, pillows were great, plenty of shampoo/soap/conditioner/towels, mini fridge in room, plenty of space. The best part, however, was hands-down the guest services. Wonderful, friendly, warm, helpful, and professional staff. I highly suggest staying here.
Property was ok. I would give it 3/5 stars. The decor was nice, very much a boutique style. My only complaints are that the shower needed to be placed in a better way because water was going everywhere. Also, the ice picker we had on top of our ice bucket was EXTREMELY dirty. It had this nasty red stuff on it. I called the front desk for a new one & it was never sent. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again. Their sister hotel, Kimpton Hotel Palomar is a lot nicer.
After waiting an hour and a half for valet to get the car the front desk attendant gave me the card of the company they contract with to valet cars. He said they were the only ones who could find out where it was as far as the hotel was concerned it wasn’t their responsibility. Last time I checked I paid the hotel Monaco 400 bucks a night for a room and 55 bucks to valet the car not some company they contracted with. If you’re looking for service this is not the hotel to go to, the employees at the hotel Monaco don’t care AT ALL. Try the Marriott around the corner, they actually care about their customers.
The management at Hotel Monaco is unbelievably rude and unwilling to help their guests in any way.I planned for my family and friends to stay at this hotel after my wedding. They gave our guests multiple issues when trying to book for our block to the point where multiple people chose to stay at other hotels. The management there, especially Amber was condescending and extremely rude to my dad and I. They made my entire wedding planning experience with them miserable and stressful. I do NOT recommend staying at this hotel to anyone. Lowe’s is so much nicer with MUCH nicer staff. If you do stay here, definitely make sure you DO NOT communicate with Amber, she is aggressive and condescending and will make your experience horrible.
The kimpton Monaco is right next door to the liberty bell. It has alot of historic charm about it. Very nice hotel. Lots of bling, lots of money. Friendly staff. Very helpful staff. Great directions to everywhere. Parking downtown is horrible. Use the valet is 55 a night.
Failure on so many levels. It didnt want us to bring our own food into the conference room which is understandable but we got charged $500 for bringing in coffeeWe were directed to Order from room service to get food in the conference room but room surface never answers the phoneSo when you try to order from the restaurant they direct you back to room serviceThen the valet lost the keys to my car but instead of just telling me that they left me standing outside for over an hour in freezing weatherMeanwhile instead of just asking me if I had another key they tried to break into my car and Ripped the weather stripping off of my door
The location cannot be beat! This is a great hotel for anyone that wants to enjoy the history in the daytime and some of the best restaurants in the evening. The hotel is walking distance to the fashion district and Penns Landing. The hotel itself was clean, very well decorated, and safe. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely stay here again!
When I arrived checking in was very easy. Omar was the gentleman that greeted me at the front desk. I was charged a $150.00 incidentals fee which I didn’t mind (I’ll explain later). I received a key to my room on the 8th floor with a view off the city! My rooms design was BEAUTIFUL. I then noticed as I unpacked and settled in that my room had a lot of dust, four water bottles, one wash cloth, hair in the shower, mold in the shower, and what looked like a creamy white residue on the shower wall🤮🤢. I couldn’t believe that a hotel with four stars could be like this ESPECIALLY with covid floating around our very active and HUGE city. I guess the design of the room is meant to block out how poorly clean this unit was... I wanted to give a good review. I’m sad that I couldn’t recommend this place. Stay somewhere else.
We stayed April 24, 2021. Check in was not friendly. They were super picky about my i.d. being presented to them although my husband was with me, he was paying and using a card in his name to pay. Im almost 40 years old and he is almost 50. The room had no coffee mkr. Small rm. $260.00 for one ngt. No pets w/ us. Walls are thin so you hear people in rooms.2 beds. Great view of the museum, park. All non smoking rooms on our floor.Beds were comfortable. Nice bathrm/ water pressure / temp. No breakfast. Unfortunately, at 12:40 am in the middle of the night about 45 people were coming and going into the rm next to us. They kept their door on latch, unlocked propped open permanently. Random people with no masks on were drunk, yelling ,laughing. They brought a radio. Played music from 12:40 until 2:30 am. They were a wedding party from the bar located in the hotel downstairs -we were guessing from the way they were dressed. I had to go in the elevator at an odd hour with drunk party people around and find management after hours of screaming, music, pot smoke. Security / manager went there about 10 -15 minutes later after I had gone downstairs to get help. The security/ mnger knocked on their door. From the end of the hallway coming to that room you could hear the crowd. Smell the pot smoke. There was drunks, loud country music, multiple random conversations like the room had become a lounge. They took forever coming to the door to answer. The mngr/ security told them to close their door all the way- to unlatch it to help keep noise in there and to keep it down b/c they were getting complaints from guests. As the manager walked away he paused and waited. He listened to hear if their noise would stop. He then closed the hallway door to our hallway which only had our room and the noisy room in it, which helped all the other guests out because it kept them unable to hear the party. It sounded like an over crowded school cafeteria. After crowds of people clearing out and banging the latch on the door each time they let it slam as they left and by 2:30 am the noise got lower. The people from that room were upset other guests had complained so they would purposely yell goodbye loudly out in the hallway as they left.We got no sleep that night. We took a video of it because we were in disbelief that such an expensive hotel would allow such nonsense for hours to a point we had to leave our room and ask for it to stop. When we checked out I mentioned it to the staff. They asked if I had told anyone while it was happening last night and I said of course we did. I was surprised that the manager that had to tell them to shut it down/ stop it at that room- never made any notations about the complaints so that they could be prepared to give a discount as an apology to other guests at check out time. The clerk then offered us a $30 resturaunt discount to the resturaunt connected to the hotel. That was all. No sorry was ever said to us. Not a good feeling. Just food from an expensive resturaunt bar as we are trying to leave to go home. Our first time to Philly ever- and what a rotten experience. The restrnt/ bar was over crowded and pricey as we were checking out with the hotel and I saw no connection as that being sufficient for a terrible stay with them. I came back over and said no. No thank you. Then a man changed it to $30 off of our $260 night stay. Bringing it to $230.00 for a terrible stay. Wow. Uncaring. How about the desk clerk people go stay at a hotel, pay $260 a night and then end up with no sleep,a stampede of drunks making noise all night and smoking drugs and having to smell that for hours and then see how they feel. They should have taken off 1/2 the price off from our stay or made the stay free. Everybody will gladly pay for a nice hotel with a great view but when you put non friendly staff at the desk the entire stay and allow parties, drugs, no apologies then the price does not make sense for that type of stay.
It was clean. Bed was very comfy. Decore was not what i expected. They offer valet parking. Room service. They were very accommodating. We werent in our room for long. Late arrival and about town to see the sights. Great location. We were right across from Independence Hall. So we were able to walk to everything easily. The pictures are the view from our room. They are doing some work outside of the building. The front desk was very corteous and helpful. We missed our checkout time due to traffick and we thought it was later than noon. The woman who called us to see what we were doing was very snotty. They were going to only charge us 50.00 instead of another night. They didnt charge us though. Our time in Philadelphia was really great.
The staff are polite, informative, and I had the best night rest because of how plush the mattress felt! The room and bathroom was exceptionally clean, lots of closet space to hang your clothes (loved the added his and her closet space)!! Great for walking. Shops, restaurants, and 30th street Stanton are all within walking distance Shops such as Nordstrom’s, Sephora, Macy’s and the reading terminal are all within walking distance. Kelly drive is a place along the interstate 76, if your looking for a place to bike ride or walk they have a 8 mile walking path. Great service!
Very nice views and colorful decor. The hotel room was very clean considering the wear & tear of the room, the super cute spacious bath tub was the highlight of our stay. Parking (not free) it takes 30+ minutes for them to retrieve your vehicle so text in advance. Breakfast (not free) WIFI (not free) Snacks in room are OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced (not free). If your looking for one time experience this would be a recommend.
The room was amazing, and the staff were extremely friendly and prompt when we asked for anything. Dave one of the management team members was truly awesome. A guest was being very rude and confrontational but Dave kept his composure and remained very friendly and courteous even while being insulted and talked down to. Omar the night manager was extremely apologetic for us having to witnesses the confrontation and went above and beyond by offering us credits for room service.
The location is wonderful and close to many things in old city Philadelphia. Security is also excellent. But other than that I cannot forgive and forget the rest. We had sticky floors, no fridge, microwave , coffee maker. Only 2 pillows per bed, uncomfortable and very squeaky beds. There is a bar upstairs, that is supposed to close at 8, but the doors were locked a little after 7. The room was pretty, but the extra fee for a view is for a window in the corner blocked mostly by a dresser. No parking is available. Must park in another garage on next block over for a large fee. Hotel is not well marked, we drove by several times before we saw it. Sidewalk outside is taped off all around motel, so must walk in street. Overall, not impressed.
Stayed for 3 weeks with my pets while looking for apartments after being displaced. They are amazing people and this place will be forever in my heart. The staff is so kind and personable and as an artist I felt accepted and in my element. I’ll be recommending this place to everyone
My experience started out a little rocky as reservations must be made online and not at the desk. I was given a complimentary upgrade to a room with an excellent view which was very kind for the minor inconvenience. The hotel is well appointed, full service, and well decorated. I had a nasty business transaction in philly with a car purchase and I expressed it to the bartender/ therapist. He kindly poured me a complimentary old fashioned and it really did make me feel as of my business was greatly appreciated. When checking out I was greeted warmly by Rashid who sincerely wanted to know how my stay was. Fantastic job Kimpton! I will be back.
Let me first begin by saying that I love the Kimpton brand, and usually have a great experience at their hotels. This was not one of those times, and by far my worst experience at a hotel to date. We visited Philadelphia for a weekend in early May 2021. We had lunch at the hotel restaurant, Red Owl Tavern. It was a sunny day, so I asked to be seated outside. The hostess responded that there were no tables available even though they were clearly plenty of tables and I pointed specifically to an empty bistro table right in front of us. She then responded that she could not seat us at that table because the waitress manning the patio already had too many patrons to serve. So she sat us inside at the window overlooking the patio. However, we quickly realized that the lone waitress who was serving the patio diners was our same waitress. During our dining, the hostess proceeded to seat other couples (one after the other) at the bistro table in front of us. The only saving grace was that the lone waitress, who was definitely overworked, still managed to give outstanding service and we tipped her accordingly despite the questions we had about the seating situation. The following night, we decided to go to the rooftop bar, Stratus Lounge. The website said that they closed at midnight, so we figured that we could have at least one drink. We arrived at 11:10 p.m., but the door was locked. The bar manager opened the door and asked us why we were there. We responded that we were interested in a drink before they closed, but he told us that they arent letting anyone else in because of last call. We pointed out that it seemed quite early for a last call, and he asked whether we were hotel guests. We thought maybe he asked because he would let us in, so we confirmed that we were but then he said that there was nothing he could do for us, then exited the bar and brushed past us to go down the stairs. We decided to speak to the front desk and when we asked about last call being so early, a man at reception said last call was at 11:30pm. We pointed out that we actually got there at 11:10 and that in fact as we were speaking it wasnt 11:30pm yet. The night manager walked over to the side of the reception desk (not behind the glass) and putting his hand up to silence me. He introduced himself as the night manager and wanted to inform me of hotel policy. I was surprised that as a guest pointing out an issue in hotel communication, that a manager would choose that moment to interrupt me. He then tells us that in fact, we needed a reservation to visit the bar. So at this point, we had received three different stories as to why we couldnt gain admittance. The next day we explained what happened to a different, more professional manager. He apologized for the issue at the restaurant and explained that Stratus was a tenant of the hotel, was not affiliated with Kimpton and that theyve had a number of communication issues with them. I responded that while that may be true, the average guest wouldnt know that theyre not affiliated with the hotel, especially if guests are encouraged to take advantage of the space while theyre there. All in all, outside of the above experiences, the other staff were professional and courteous. We will not stay at this particular hotel again because if this is the way they treated us when occupancy is down, I cant imagine what our experience would be once travel levels resume to what they were pre-pandemic.
Wow! Excellent customer service.I booked my stay at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco in central city Philadelphia and immediately contacted the concierge. Within minutes Roshid reached back out to me about my request. I told him that I was a teacher and celebrating making it through pandemic teaching and that I really needed to relax and kick back. After emailing back and forth Roshid came back and shocked my entire soul. He decided to upgrade my room and treat me to all of my other request in honor of my service as an educator. I have never felt so honored in my life. This year has been tough and so unreal from loosing relatives to finally completing my teacher certification program and mastering virtual teaching. This hotel was just the space for me to indulge in self care.Walking in I look up to notice this beautiful ship chandelier hanging in the rotunda with this deep dark red carpeting on the ground. The decor was intriguing and comforting as it should be. I kept walking until I found my way to the registration desk. I was greeted by Shasta and even though I couldn’t see her smile I felt her warmth. She handed me a beautiful gift bag, an envelope and my room key cards. I quickly headed to my room and oh, my the view was perfect. I had the park view room and I was on the 8th floor. I moved the drapes to get the fullness of the sun in my room and took a moment to just exhale before opening my complimentary chilled bottle of celebratory sparkling wine. The room had these amazing dimming candles and the color contrast of red, blue, white and gold was sleek yet vintage in feel. The bathroom was large and roomy just like I love and the hotel provided large essential oil based body washes, shampoo and conditioner. The bed was the icing on the cake. It was so cozy and comfortable that it was hard to pull myself up to catch the tours in the city and dinner with my family and friends. The bell men and concierge were amazing!!! Shasta and Roshid were a joy, and were eager to help out and went beyond the call of duty to make my stay a memorable one. I can not wait until my schedule permits another opportunity to slip off and retreat in the city of Philadelphia at The Kimpton Hotel Monaco.
The hotel was super cute and designed so lovely. The only thing that was off for me was the shower glass wasnt long enough so water got everywhere. Also, the remote for the TV was not as responsive. Other than that everything was well put together and I had a lovely stay.
A short but amazing stay. We received a warm welcome from Shasta and Roshid. They were both very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. We were upgraded to the one bedroom suite watch was beautiful and clean. The room had a great view of Signers Garden and Independence Hall. We could hear church bells in the morning which was nice. The entire staff has done a great job to make me and my family feel safe in these uncertain Covid times. Make sure you eat Red Owl Tavern in the lobby. The food and service are both great. A special thanks to Roshid for making this stay special for my mom. When I come back to Philadelphia I know where I will be staying. Just steps to historical sites, a great restaurant, and amazing service. Thanks again for everything. Also make sure you join IHG rewards and get points for your stay. Oh if you have a dog there are lots of grassy areas to take them just outside the front door.
We stayed here one weekend just to explore our city and had a lovely time. The decorating is so fun to look at and explore. Our room was large, comfortable, clean and had all the amenities you could want. Ordered room service late in the evening and it arrived quickly. Hotel connects to the Red Owl Tavern where breakfast is served each morning. Within walking distance of all the historical attractions that make Philadelphia such a special city. Horse and carriage rides are right outside the entrance. Staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. We will definitely be booking again for another weekend getaway.
My wife and I were excited to try the Monaco after years of staying at Sofitel. It’s in a great location, has a nice view of Independence Park, is decorated nicely, and appears clean. That said, we would not stay here again. The rooms are quite small compared to similarly priced alternatives, and while we booked a King bedroom, the “King” beds at the Monaco are not standard sized (more like an Olympic Queen). Between the crammed quarters and disingenuously advertised bed sizes, we won’t be back. Laying in our room writing this review and wishing we booked at Sofitel...
The rooms were clean the staff was awesome. I want to personally thank Rashid for going the extra mile. Your help with making sure my daughter enjoyed her birthday stay for the weekend was priceless to me. Thank you again for your help and being so accommodating with my requests.
Excellent views from some of the rooms. Excellent bedding. Easy to fall asleep quickly in one of their beds.Unfortunately there is zero visibility to the city from the rooftop bar, which is a big letdown when you consider their location. The rooftop bar just as well had been placed on the first floor as its impossible to gain any perspective of the height since there are no ways to view anything outdoors without looking directly up.
Excellent stay! Our complaints with the hotel shower were taken seriously and we were upgraded to a better room. Everyone was extremely courteous and friendly, and the staff were very proactive with covid precautions. I hope to come back soon and highly recommend!!!!!
My fiance and I are staying here tonight. Finding the hotel was difficult with the construction. No valet bc of covid. Neither of those are their fault but should be noted. The staff is wonderful. Security is great. The hotel itself is beautiful. The room is perfectly decorated. The bathroom is outstanding. Im up writing this review now at 3:12am bc l the bed is a ROCK!! Neither of us can sleep. Four pillows is not nearly enough to even try to get comfortable.
Accommodations are beautiful! My only complaint: I was charged $150 for incidentals and when I ordered room service, could not charge it to my room on the web ordering system. Perhaps there is a way I could have done that but it was more difficult than i was willing to deal with.
From the moment we saw the building, we knew we were in for a treat.Beautiful lobby, luxurious corner suite, and excellent staff all made for a great time at Hotel Monaco.Special thank you to Omar for sharing insight on things to do in the area, as well as great conversation. It was hard to leave the Lafayette building
We are so sad to be leaving this beautiful hotel in Philly and so glad we picked it for our first stay in this city!We generally love the Kimpton hotels but this one really stands out as excellent. All of the staff were absolutely wonderful, from the giving us local tips and making check in and checkout seamless. We felt so welcomed after a very long drive!Everything is pristine, super COVID safe, and clearly well cared for while also being charming and bright and allowing the historial buildings beautiful bones to shine. No soul-less corporate vibes here! The on-site restaurant was also great- thanks to the bartender for making me an especially delicious non-alcoholic cocktail! They also serve La Colombe in the morning which is also fantastic. Our room was a dream, spacious and bright with a view of the park. Because this hotel is on the corner and both corners overlook the historial parks (unlike any of the others nearby) there are so many great views to be had from the rooms!!! Really wellinsulated as well, noise is not an issue here.Wonderful cosy bed, excellent amenities, and a super cosy bathrobe that I really appreciated.Ideal location, we only had one night in Philly and loved that we were right next to many of the historic sites and also could wander the cute cobblestone streets. Parking was self (cos, pandemic) and super quick, easy and affordable. If you are headed to Philly, highly recommend staying in this gem of a hotel! We will for sure be back!!!

2022-06-23Make sure to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking a hotel. This web site will compare countless hotel sites and normally will have rooms much cheaper compared to others! Thank me later on! This place is one of my favorites in the area. I have been staying here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you will love it Im sure!I was totally impressed with the professionalism of management and Staff.Front desk associate and concierge was very cooperative and service was outstanding.Room cleanliness was outstanding and detail to all CDC guideline went above and beyond. In today environment it is difficult to find outstanding employees.Management has found the Secret ingredient in providing development of staff with the knowledge to provide great guest satisfaction.

2022-03-05Wish I could give my experience working with this hotel 0 stars. Had a wedding in the area that used this Kimpton for the wedding block. Booked it initially online no problems got confirmation.Due to Covid the wedding was rescheduled. I called the hotel and staff told me I didn’t need to make any changes they would move my room with the block to the new date. Sounds great.Check in a couple months later now that a new date is booked and the event is coming up. They tell me that they did move the block but never moved my room with it. Okay so I ask them to make me a new reservation in the block. Now they tell me the block is booked so I need to rebook with the standard rate, AND now it’s hotel policy to book a minimum 3 night stay opposed to the original 2 nights I booked. What a joke. They are even admitted that the mistake was made on their end but refused to resolve it.Worst customer service experience I have ever had with a hotel honestly couldn’t believe how this whole process shook out.

2022-06-25My family and I stayed two nights at the Monaco. We booked it primarily because we wanted to tour some of the historic sites: Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Museum of the American Revolution, etc. The Monaco hotel is next to everything! The valet staff were friendly and helpful. Reception area staff were on top of everything!Amazing coffee bar in the morning and wine bar from 5-6p for adults. All included. (I know right!?)The decor is fun, wild, and energizing. It’s in the style of “world travelers” mixed up with Alice in Wonderland. Each room has a copy. It’s eclectic and high-end infused with a modern twist. It’s unlike anything I’ve ever seen, which was refreshing. This is a 100+ year old office building that went through a $54 million renovation to create the Monaco. It shows. Everything is so extravagant and fancy. Marble everywhere. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and you will too!

2022-04-12Located right next to Independence Hall and the Liberty bell, this is a prime location for someone visiting the city. The lobby is bright and inviting. There is valet parking at the front door so you just drop off your car with them and they park it for you. You will need a room key to use the elevator which is a great safety feature. The rooms were lovely and the bed very plush. Its like sleeping on a cloud. The shower heads had great pressure so cleaning up after a long day of sightseeing is very relaxing. The shower is a walk in so it is easy to get into. They have free coffee in the lobby in the morning to start your day. There is also a restaurant off the lobby that serves great food. Highly recommended for a luxurious getaway from your everyday.

2022-02-13I was quite disappointed with my stay at the Kimpton Hotel. Possibly because Id gone in with high expectations. At check in, I was told that I wouldnt get a park view room (what Id reserved and paid extra for). I requested an upgrade, based on an email Id received earlier in the day, as an IHG member, but the person at the front desk said that they couldnt upgrade me either. They did offer to comp valet parking which I accepted despite having already found a cheaper self parking nearby because of the in-out privileges and convenience.Anyway, our room was tiny and faced another building. Quite dampening when Id hoped for a great room with a view. The bathroom was also dirty and it was impossible to connect with the front desk.I also noted that despite mentioning it under special requests as well as multiple times at the front desk during check-in they did not get my dog a bed or a water bowl. Thankfully I had his rug and he was able to make himself comfy. We also tried calling the front desk multiple times and were kept on hold, and eventually had someone hang up on us, when we called to request the coffee machine. So our experience with the welcome staff was entirely lacking.Overall, i am terribly disappointed and this may be a one-off experience but I dont think Im keen on returning. The pros:1. Great location! We were the first ones to see the bell in the morning. As such the location is dog friendly and walkable.2. Puppy friendly : lots of other guests had brought their pups along which was great fun.3. Valet parking folks are amazing! They were able to bring us our vehicle within 10 minutes, each time. The decor is whimsical too. Too bad our room sucked, and we still got charged the upgraded rate for a room that wasnt what wed paid for or reserved.

2022-02-27When we arrived at the hotel we were told that they didnt have the upgraded room that we had booked and paid for with credit card points and they put us in a standard room, but said that because we paid with points they couldnt refund the difference between the upgraded room that we paid for the standard room that we received. Additionally, the room wasnt ready until an hour and a half after the check in time. For the inconvenience they gave us a $75 room credit, but when we tried to use it to pay for room service the next morning, which could only be ordered through their online app, we found that we cant use the $75 credit in their app, rendering it basically useless to us.Also, at 2am a fire alarm when off and we were all forced to evacuate the hotel and stand in the freezing cold. Fire trucks came to check the building and the whole ordeal took about 30-40 minutes. Not once during the entire thing did we see or hear anything from anyone at the hotel. The firemen left without offering the crowd of people any information about whether it was safe to go back in the building and there was not a single hotel staff member any where to provide information about whether it was safe to return to our rooms. Hundreds of us stood out in the cold for a while wondering what to do and we finally all went back inside. But no information or update was offered, nor were there any hotel staff anywhere to be found. It was unsafe and completely unprofessional. When we tried to talk to the hotel about the room issue and the lack of guidance about the fire alarm, all they said was yes, we know and made no attempt to apologize or take any ownership for the experience. We have stayed in Kimptons in Philly, Savannah and Washington DC in the past, and been pleased with the experience, but I doubt that I would ever stay again after the night we had last night.

2022-02-14Really cool decor but negatives of the room were that our TV was old and kept cutting out, and the shower water would not get hot unless we ran the sink (called desk to find this out). Bathtub was giant and even fit my really tall boyfriend! Very busy during wedding season - I heard several people having issues with valet around checkout.

2021-12-27Beautiful lobby and rooms. Friendly staff. The Red Owl has been a go-to place for previous trips to Philly so we were glad to stay at the hotel. Would very much stay again. I did see the comments on valet parking....there is very easy-to-access parking right around the corner and the staff was helpful in guiding us there. Great location, and we were offered upgrades on our room. It pays to book directly with any hotel imo

2022-03-20Lets start with the decor. Its cool looking 😊. Unfortunately our room was nice but the view was a ventilation shaft on the 2nd floor. I will say we got a handicap accessible room. No clue why, it was just given to us. We got the room at a discount so maybe thats why. Either way lets move onto the bathroom. The bathroom was nice but the walk in shower design was a bit odd. Again meant for handicap citizens but the water does get EVERYWHERE. The roof top bar was nice. Started to rain so that sucked but it was nice for the few minutes it didnt rain :).
