La Colombe Coffee Roasters in other cities:
A good location, perfect to pick up coffee and stroll around in the Rittenhouse square. Hip and friendly baristas; they will remember your name and your drink if you visit often enough. Great coffee making; espresso and latte art are skillfully done. I go for their americano and, occasionally, oatmeal cookies.
Recommend by many people as the best coffee place around Rittenhouse it truly lives up to that name. The interior is very old fashion, fancy and with beautiful decorations. The service is super kind and quick, ready to help a customer with any question or decision regarding the menu. The coffee and baked goods are truly the perfect breakfast combination or a mid-day break snack. Once again, the coffee is great.
This coffee shop is really popular, I came here to buy coffee cakes and waited for ten minutes. The clerk here is also very warm and cool, here is half self-help. The seat here needs to see that there is a space to sit down, and after eating it, put the plate in the specified position. The most important thing is that the coffee here is really good.
Had their regular coffee and flat whites. Their coffee is smooth and espresso beverages are really well prepared. Ended up taking a bag of coffee back with me (I’m not from town). The ambience / vibe is well intentioned but can get noisy and crowded, given its in a busy Grad student neighbourhood.
What a great coffee shop! it is charming, old building interior with modern efficiency. I am very discerning with coffee. The line always moves quickly and the coffee is still the best Ive ever tasted! They also offer free sparkling water and regular water on tap. No wifi.
If any place deserves in a 5star in efficiency and quality it’s this place. The customer service and kindness isn’t necessarily top tier, but that’s ok. With the number of orders they get, I understand. Anyways, the latte I had was perfect. The espresso was smooth, and the oat milk light. Their speed is also something else to note. We had four orders and they were made by the time we finished paying. I recommend the chocolate and almond croissants!
Always amazing coffee here. Fast service also. Their nitro brews and creativity and ingredient quality are all top notch. They take coffee to a whole new level . They are so popular, you can also now buy their products at many grocery stores. Nothing like going to the shop however. Don’t walk by.
Absolutely brilliant coffee, especially the Draft Latte with Oat Milk, have had this couple of times at La Colombe, once in Chicago and once in Philly, its the perfect summer drink. The more traditional coffee here is also great, and theyve got so many options of roasts and blends, must visit if youre in the Rittenhouse area and craving for good coffee!
You can’t go wrong with La Colombe coffee. This is a cool location. Many tables to enjoy or work. Amazing baked goods. And the staff is efficient and very friendly. Free WiFi would have pushed it to 5 stars. But I get it. People would probably never leave if there was WiFi on top of all of this ambience!
La Colombe is good, but I thought the guy at the register when I went the other night was incredibly rude. Very short and just came off like I was inconveniencing him. I get it, it was about 4 or 5 on a busy Saturday afternoon and there was a line, but being friendly goes a long way and it really made me not want to go back in the future. But the coffee was good, and we took it out rather than sit inside. My friend got a hot coffee and I got their draft chai.
Lord. that Draft Latte is like nothing Ive ever had. mini bubbles in a creamy consistent iced latte??? unbelievableI felt like a child again whenever I get the draft latte (milk) and their chocolate chip cookies (w/ mini chocolate chips???). also their espresso and pour overs are good too
I love the coffee here. It is local and delicious. The place gets packed all the time and especially during peak hours and weekends. Their little pastries are good too. The line can look long but it usually goes fast. I dont think their iced coffee is as strong as a dunkin or starbucks, however the taste is far superior.
Masks are needed to walk in which isnt a plus nor is it a positive. The special coffees are expensive but it tastes 100% better than dunkin. The tables unfortunately are always dirty. They are designed to hold food inside the crevices. They should be wiped down more often. I sit in there about 3 days a week and for about 40 min and I rarely see someone cleaning the tables.I still go because there isnt a special coffee shop nearby without going a city block or teo further.
One of the white male employees that works here is always rude and angry. I usually go to the La Colombe in Fishtown and it’s great. The couple times I’ve been to this location, however, I was treated with attitude and disrespect, and they messed up my order. Then when I finally got it, the foam had gone down on the draft latte by the time I got to the park, and the cup was only filled to about 40% with actual coffee. The donuts were also gross and the barista gave me the wrong info on the type filling—first saying it was jelly then said white cream, when it was a gross watered-down yellow custard.Seriously the worst cafe experience I’ve ever had. Who needs needs to deal with hostile baristas when you’re dropping $20? I’m taking my service elsewhere from now on.
Tasty pastries and high quality coffee; also a very safe and confidence-inspiring COVID protocol for ordering and payment. I had a flavorful and wonderfully foamed latte and a fresh croissant (not overly buttery, yet delicate flakiness). Would recommend going to any of their locations throughout the city
Yummy in my tummy! however, they don’t have a menu so you might feel “left out of the clubhouse” if you’re a newbie, like i.just ask for the baristas recco, and you won’t be dissapointed!needless to say, given this places classy reputation, my reaction to this afternoon latte (with oat milk, of course) was: OOH LA LA
If you love iced coffee this place has several draft iced coffees like pure black, Black and Tan, and a draft latte. All fantastic. The classic hot drinks are fantastic and served in nice china cups. The baked goods are quite reasonable priced. The also have a free tap of sparking water. That really won me over...one of my favorite coffee shops anywhere.
Ive recently become obsessed with iced coffee/cold brews and this place did not disappoint. I ordered half draft cold brew and half draft latte. Perfect balance. My husband ordered a mocha and he was pleasantly surprised it was not sweet like other places. We also had an almond croissant and it was tasty! Highly recommend.
This is an average coffee shop for the person that makes above average wages. The coffee tastes good and the staff is always great, but theres really nothing impressive going on here. They have a great location to stay busy and its very convenient. Inside is fairly quant and is surprisingly cozy. But, again, nothing here that grabs you makes you want to return.Maybe La Colombe should just stick to roasting beans and doing wholesale.
Great spot for all casual affairs! This location is perfect if you just want to grab a cup of great coffee to go, or if you prefer to enjoy it inside - there is ample seating space to sip at your leisure. It is located within Rittenhouse area, so the parking will be tough. I typically park a few blocks south and work my way up. Walking in, the counter to order is right in front, and then the seating area is towards the left. Inside, its upscale but casual, lots of tables and even small booths to get a group together for coffee and work. Many people seem to find this location ideal to open up their laptop and enjoy a good coffee. The coffee is what sells this place - great roasts, with bold, rich flavors. As you walk in you can smell the amazing scents - and it tastes just as great as it smells! The workers are pretty friendly and the menu is lean so it doesnt get too confusing when putting in your order. The feeling I got was that if I became a regular, the baristas would definitely start knowing my name and my order. It has that charm, which is pretty endearing.Overall definitely recommend this place and this brand of coffee - awesome stuff!
Amazing coffee quality. Delicious lattes, plus gorgeous handcrafted designs. I enjoyed having my coffee to stay in these beautiful china cups. The decoration was very classy and it reminded me of a french coffee shop. I saw lots of people reading, talking or on there laptops. But, it felt less convoluted than Starbucks.
My favorite coffee house! Very good selection of coffee and the sandwiches are great too!I have decided to edit my review due to some unusual and weird circumstances that I had to endure by visiting my favorite coffee house theres a young lady employee who keeps harassing me about the espresso that I choose and telling me that shes going to charge me additional because Im using the creamer wrong how do you use creamer wrong I just feel harassed every time I come here and shes working
Just moved to the area from Dallas and a few people had recommended that I try this coffee shop being that its a Philadelphia staple. The coffee was great and the pastries werent bad either but unfortunately I cant say the same about the customer service and overall experience. I ordered a vanilla iced coffee and instead of politely saying they didnt have that she rudely laughed at me, rang me up and said heres an iced coffee instead of giving me an opportunity to pick somethings else or order anything else. Truly disappointed by the first impression of this place...really wanted to love it but Im big on customer service and that left me with a horrible impression. Hope yall have better luck if you do give it a try.
I bought 2 cappuccinos and 2 pastries here today. Service was excellent, but I was disappointed in how I had to pay. I was ready to use cash, but I was told I had to use a card. I believe City Council reversed the rule on having cashless eateries. I guess thats why I cant give them 5 stars.😥
This is one of my favorite places in Center City. The coffee is perfect and its a coffee shop full of people chatting rather than humans staring at their laptops. I mean, there are people on laptops but its got this great buzz and energy rather than the Im gonna have a conversation with someone cause this isnt any ones office, ok?? vibe. Plus the people watching is exceptional.
Great place to grab a cortado or a Draft latte. If you like coffee and have some time to spare, check out the pour over menu. It changes frequently and you get to experience new flavors every time something new is added. Also, take a look at the workshop menu in case you need to grab something on the go and different from your default choice.
Some of the best coffee in Philly, and pleasant space to work or have a chat. I also appreciate the sparkling water on tap. Pro tip: if youre in the cafe a few minutes before the closing time, they give out their remaining pastries for free, because they only sell what was baked in the same day.
Great place for coffee and espresso drinks. I got a latte and it was reasonably priced and really good. Great atmosphere as well. They have sparkling water on tap in addition to cold water which I thought was cool. Only drawback of this place is that it has no WiFi so you can’t do any work here really.
Doesnt have wifi, but that makes it a great place to disconnect and/or have a conversation in a cozy space bustling with others talk, too.The coffee cups and tables have matching painted patterns, which is cool in a I havent see that before kind of way.And of course, the coffee and pastries are on point. I really enjoyed the toffee chocolate (?) cookie on my last visit.
Hands down. Most favorite coffee shop in the world and the best coffee Ive ever had. Not sure what makes the magic happen here, but this place has an atmosphere and experience you cant miss! Weve been going to this coffee shop for over 12 years and always stop here when were in town. My HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!
I have been coming to La Colombe for longer than I care to admit. While the staff has changed over the years, they are always friendly, fast, and make brilliant coffee. I have only ever enjoyed espresso, cappuccino, and cafe au lait from La Colombe so I can speak to cold brews or draft beverages but all of my beverages are consistently great. There is always a mix of people in line or at the tables, the ambience is unique and perfectly La Colombe Rittenhouse.
Honestly, I was surprised to find I hadnt written a review yet! This place has great coffee, plus the draft latte for all you non-coffee drinkers out there! (it does have coffee in it, but certainly not for the French Press or espresso lover) Pastries are prepared every day in their Fishtown bakery, café, and distillery. This is my favorite spot because, after 3 years of being a customer, I know every barista. They literally know how to keep their customers happy and coming back daily!
Latte and scone were good. Barista was horrible. She announced that the espresso in my latte didn’t pull correctly, but served to me any way. A 5 dollar latte tasted burnt. The lady who took my order was extremely rude and very unhelpful. She rolled her eyes at me and at others while I watched her taking orders. Not the atmosphere I was looking for. I get this is Philly, but a little more friendliness would have been appreciated.
If you thought the pretentiousness of Starbucks hipsters was insufferable, and you found yourself wanting to feel more marginalized, well look no further... Simply buying coffee at la colombe offers the feel of disappointing or inconveniencing someone. As far as the food or coffee is concerned-. Its very good but overall a bit pricier than most coffee shops. If you want coffee without feeling welcome, and want to wade through a crowd of dour millennials, this might be the place for you.
I came here to get freshly roasted beans but couldnt find much. Only half of the bean variety had a roasted-on date, which was about 2 weeks old. The other half had a best by date. If you want to get the best espresso you need to get the freshest coffee possible. Having a bean thats been sitting on a shelf after a while starts to lose its oils, and that negatively changes they flavor of the coffee.
Fantastic coffee. Ive been here a couple of times when visiting Philly. This some of the best coffee Ive had. Ordered a cappuccino this morning and it was as good as expected. La Colombo has a nice atmosphere and very polite servers. Only drawback was no wifi but we were able to connect via hotspot no problem.
Every time I go to this coffee shop has been a disappointing experience. I am not the type of person to usually post reviews because I am not very critical but my experience here is so poor that it angers me they have such good ratings for no reason. The coffee is more washed down than any chain, low budget coffee shop. The selection of pastries are extremely limited and everything is old and cold. I got a coffee and a chocolate chip cookie hoping it would be a safe bet but somehow they manage to screw such a simple order. This place is literally the worst!!! Stay away if you dont want to ruin your day.
The new La Colombe at Philadelphia International Airport terminal E is awesome. An amazing selection of pastries and sandwiches. And of course, bar none, the best coffees. Worth the trek to the terminal for real coffee and real food. They also carry the canned coffees, making it easy grab a caffeine fix for the road or flight. They are also offering the draft lattes, as well as, specialty coffee drinks!
Buying lattes here is part of my daily routine on my way to work. Coffee is fantastic, due, if I understand correctly, to their way of roasting the coffee beans so that the flavor is robust and the bitterness is gone.....(unlike a major chain coffee shop that I will not mention by name). Service is fast and courteous even with a line - have been buying here for more than a decade and have NEVER seen a rude or inattentive staffer even when under high volume pressure. Experimental bean choices are always interesting and the chain now has their Fishtown location as a testing kitchen, every shop benefits from the research and exploration.Important for some is that LaColombes bean purchases from the farming sources are fair trade based. Makes my Quaker wife very very happyI understand that this location is the very first LaColombe - that noted, they are growing, and I can now get their brilliant coffee near my firms NYC office - as well as when attending/speaking at conferences in Chicago. Hope this chain grows, but maintains its rich product line and culture of service as it expands locations.
Pros: good quality coffee (black) both from drip and pour over, good lattes and craftsmanship (unsweetened, whole milk), offer filtered tap still and slating water (both taste good), food options tasty, reasonable prices, restrooms usually clean, location, vibe, top customer service and staff, free wifiCons: very limited seating (especially at peak times and cold days); coffee beans for home are expensive
In a covid19 world we all want to stay safe. I walked up and saw a line about 20 or so people deep that was winding in the store. I asked the La Columbe employee, who was in a plexiglass box (which is cool) about the time length of the line. Do you know how long the wait is?. His response Ugh, no i dont . I then responded Youre in the middle, you dont know. His response No, i only look at the people outside. When i came in the guy was staring at the ceilinh. He was ambivalent at best, but really just apathetic to his job or helping to keep people safe. I decided to not wait in line, nor will i without knowing how long i should stand in indoor line (poor ventilation).Kinda sad as i have been a loyal customer of this particular shop for 17 years
Ive been ordering La Columbe on and off for about 4 years now. They have always shipped super fast to DC, and when you receive the coffee, they have just roasted the batch. It isnt a batch thats been sitting around for a month. Ive always been impressed by that. So, when I visited Philly for the first time, I had to make a stop. I was participating in the Reddit Secret Santa Coffee & Tea Exchange, and I thought my recipient might appreciate a pound of their coffee. $18 gets you a pound of coffee, a regular cup o joe, and a cup of tea. As a coffee and tea person, I almost never order tea in a coffee house. They never get it right--the water temp is always boiling, they oversteep the tea, or dump a tea bag into your cup and call it a day. My boyfriend ordered an oolong. The barista said it would be 6 minutes. Was that alright? Huh, I think. That sounds like someone who knows how to brew tea! We wait 6 minutes for his tea. Its the perfect temperature for oolong, theres no teabag in sight, and its steeped properly. Bonus points to Gryffindor!I would say that this place is crazy chaotic with the line, but the operation runs like a well-oiled machine. They also offer free sparkling water and regular water on tap. The cups and saucers they use are also really pretty and colorful. If youre not feeling the people, grab a cup to go and enjoy Rittenhouse Square.
Just saw how Mr. Carmichael paid the debt for a school food bill for some PA families. I think that is great! I wish more there were more stories like this, where business owners step in to help families! His companies deserve to be patronized. If I were to ever run into Mr. Carmichael I would shake his hand! Hat tip to you sir!! You did a really good thing!! God Bless you!!
Met and chatted with two of their reps in Kalamazoo, MI. They told me about the company, the product and were even kind enough to let me try a sample. I instantly bought a case of the triple draft latte cans. Those girls were extremely personable and made a customer for life; they deserve some recognition.
Definitely worth every penny. Priced less than starbucks on capuccinos and taste much better. Mine(my drink) always comes with foam signature. The store needs wifi cause without it you will find yourself into old fashion book reading instead of wasting your time on the internet...
Where taste trumps novelty. A tagline that La Columbe truly lives up to. Every time I enter this Rittenhouse shop the employees great me courteously and energetically. Im one of those try something different every-time types of customers, and Im always impressed with their willingness to explore new concoctions with me (even though Im a rookie when it comes to coffee). My suggestion, is get whatever you want for here because using the actual coffee mugs and spoons is part of the experience.
They are using the social justice ideology for marketing . The “barrista” insulted me for not being “polite” enough, which is something completely subjective and dependent on culture. The reason he did that was only to reenforce their brand for being a no discrimination place. Of course all of this is cheap marketing and they should chill out

2022-02-01La Colombe is a famous chain on the East Coast, so Im pretty sure every store is as good as this one. The coffee is strong and their latte is good(not sweet enough for me, but they always give you as much sugar as you want). They also have a good variety of baking goods. Its a popular spot, especially when its cold outside, so the seating isnt always quaranteed.

2022-06-22Excellent service and coffee in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood of Philadelphia. I rarely buy coffee from stores, but decided to go in when I saw the place was packed inside. Good location for people-watching.

2021-10-07I have not stopped talking about this place since I went here. It was a little intimidating because there was a whole line down the block and when you get in the building there were no menus anywhere but the atmosphere was amazing. It was very old-school and sleek. I ordered an iced oat milk draft latte and my boyfriend got the same but without ice. I wish I had gotten it without ice because it really didn’t need it. It didn’t need sugar either! It is honestly the best coffee I think I have ever had, and I’ve had thousands. It was so airy and similar to a Guinness (or any draft I suppose) and it had an amazing flavor. My only complaint is that they were sold out of the pumpkin/fall flavors but hey I understand.

2022-05-02Great coffee and ambiance. French baguette with ham and butter was great as well. Get the pastries! The donuts were out of this world delicious paired with a draft latte. 😍 I really liked the counter where the drinks are handed to customers. They have small saucers and spoons that they replace after you customize your drink if need be. High marks for the staff for being so professional and courteous in such a busy location. Repeat customer for sure.

2022-04-04This is a great local cute coffee shop near Rittenhouse Square. I have often enjoyed getting a cup of either hot coffee or iced coffee and relaxing with something to eat early in the morning. I love the iced coffee and I really like the Corsica hot coffee. I tried the Chai, which I liked but wasn’t crazy about the spice. My suggestion would be to bring the fresh pastries in around 7 o’clock instead of later around 8 or 8:30, often I get up early I was hoping to get a fresh pastry. The pastries are delicious, it would be nice, if they had other breakfast options too. I’d love to see more vegan options too.I enjoyed coming here early in the morning when it’s quiet, later in the day it’s very busy. This is a great place to meet up with friends for coffee and a snack.Cute local coffee shop, I’m glad it’s in the area,

2022-05-15My favorite coffeehouse in Center City Philly. Best coffee, and huge selection to buy in bags. When you buy a bag, you get a free coffee to drink right there. Their croissants are delicious, with many choices. The service is always excellent, friendly, and quick.

2022-06-25We came in from Columbus Ohio and stopped in yesterday. The staff was accommodating, inviting and knowledgeable. We were excited to return this morning. Unfortunately, the staff was completely different; rude, somewhat belittling and annoyed. The cashier said “good morning” to my wife and I three times, only to roll her eyes at my wife because we didn’t know that was her way of saying “can i help you?” That’s not okay.5 stars yesterday. 1 star this morning. 3 stars.

2022-02-20My girlfriend and I went here for some coffee while out on a walk around the city. Always enjoyed La Colombo coffee and have for many years. That being said the man who served us and handled our order was extreme rude to us and came off as very arogent and smug. We will never be returning to this location for coffee after the way we were treated so poorly. We simply asked for 2 espressos and were rudely lectured about how we apparently ordering something we were not used to drinking or something...

2021-07-31I ordered a latte here and then while paying the barista/cashier directed me to my latte. It was not what I expected so I thought maybe I didn’t specify what type of latte I wanted and then tried not to make a big deal as maybe they didn’t hear me with all of us wearing masks. So I clarified and asked is this my latte? The barista said yes and walked away. Then this other barista started yelling and me and lecturing me how my latte is over here and that latte was specifically made for someone else.I couldn’t believe how I excessively rude the barista was. He could have just politely said your latte is over here but instead was so rude and started yelling at me as if it was my fault I was directed to the wrong latte in the first place. F that.I go to La Colombe all the time throughout the city without any problem and even buy La Colombe coffee and apparel to send to friends out of state. This interaction I had today gives me serious pause as a future customer.
