Club is always clean, equipment in pristine condition, locker rooms adequate. During the 3-6 pm rush you may need to switch up your routine as the gym is crowded.
It’s 2022, and this Gym can’t afford to get a working WIFI, but it can afford to pay 6 workers to sit behind the desk, doing nothing about it. Find a better place to workout.
Missing a ton of free weights that has not been replaced in the year I have been here. Bathrooms are nasty. Looks like a new company is now in charge but nothing has changed really sad. This is an update from post a couple months ago nothing has changed machines are worse than ever
August 31 2021Im uncomfortable. not just dirty, weight racks have rust on them, bathroom likely to spawn a new covid variant and grips are sticky.surprised la fitness has its name on this oneso its now February and there has been noticable change and improvement
Been a member for a few months. Gym is fine. However, employees do not show up on time to open the gym which has happened several times leaving a packed parking lot of paying clients. Defeats the purpose of paying for a gym with hours that they actually maintain. Never had this problem in WC where I was a member for years.
Go anywhere else other then here. Have been to many other la fitnesses and other gyms. This is by far the dirtiest gym I have ever been to. There are clumps of hair and dust on the floor everywhere and tons of it underneath the weight machines also. Also on the machines good luck some are always broken and most are in constant state of disrepair. Handle grips broken or have sticky brown stuff that comes off on your hands. The cardio equipment has rust and corrosion all over along with some squeaky loudly. The stair masters are almost always down too. As for the locker rooms. The mens are usually gross with trash overflowing. As for the trash in the rest of the gym usually they are filled up to the brim. You play roulette with the paper towel and cleaning solution dispensers on the wall since some are filled some are out. One of the most mismanaged falling apart gyms I’ve ever seen.
Place is always dirty. Sanitizer and soap dispensers are ALWAYS empty, even when the gym is dead.
Most of the equipment is broken or obsolete. Ive been told 5 deadlines for the bball court to be fixed (broken since July/August) which have all been wrong. They did add a sport conditioning section which has been the only saving grace.
Have been going for 8 years or so. Used to be well taken care of and clean. The last few months it has really started to go down hill. Soap not in dispensers, paper towels not in dispensers. Sinks look disgusting. Marks all over the mirrors. Everytime Im there Im picking up trash off of the locker room floors. Doesnt seem like the staff cares too much anymore. Disappointing. Id hate to see the place keep going in the direction it is. Ive always enjoyed it there.
Locked the door early. If the gym doesnt close until 10pm dont lock the door until then! 30 minutes is enough time for someone to start and complete a workout. Let me use my membership during open hours or give me my money back. Contemplating switching to Maxx Fitness
Dont bother with the personal training here. The trainers are fine but the sessions are short and the penalties for breaking the contract are high and no one is knowledgeable enough with the contracts to actually help you (or they dont want to). Its a shame because the staff and instructors are generally nice, but overall management is just a mess.
Tried out the Downingtown location this afternoon for the first time. I was not impressed. Brandon the GM was very professional and knowledgeable but the guy Edgar there was a complete clown. Walking around with his chest out like he owns the place but he doesn’t know how to do sales. Very unprofessional and when I questioned him, he got all huffy on me and started talking like he had a foot in his mouth. Equipment is old and dirty, as well as their facility. Will not be returning
The staff here was super helpful and accommodating. The facility is clean. They want you to enjoy being a member here and it shows. The community of people who use the gym is just that, a community, and they encourage each other, and welcome you. Julia is definitely the person to go to if you need some help. She works hard to make your time there worthwhile. Definitely recommend!
Decent gym, but canceling your membership is a nightmare

Love LA FITNESS! Super clean && organized && so much equipment to workout with! Never disappointed when I leave! The staff && trainers are great && very nice && their rates are absolutely amazing! I’d never go back to other gyms again I’ve attended.. My favorite part is the what my kids call “Smoothie Bar”! So many different kinds of smoothies && shakes they make that come out great! Also their daycare is a great use for us! My kids love going to the daycare every other day. Of course my son was afraid at first, but he learned to love it && is always asking to go back! Highly recommend!
I love the gym - been coming here for 7 or 8 years. The place can use a bit of a face lift. The carpet in the personal training area is awful. Since Christmas break - it has started to ripple which is a tripping hazard. Personal training clients pay quite a bit for services and should have a safe and frankly more private area. Even with signs for clients only - people tend to come in and take equipment. Allison rocks. Best trainer i have had and Tim at the front desk is such a great guy.
Love to train in here..BUT the clean I’ll give a 0 because I have been coming to the gym in the morning when open at 5:00am and it is not clean,trash can full of trash and paper,Bathroom (lady’s)it’s nasty paper all over the floor.The mirrow on training area looks like people spits on it.This place is really durty.But THE ESPORTAin west Chester VERY CLEAN SUPER CLEANI RECOMMEND ESPPRTA IN WEST CHESTER

Unprofessional staff with extremely poor customer service. Bad management, have been trying to settle a dispute with an unauthorized charge for over a month. Placed upwards of 20 phones calls, have yet to receive a phone call from the manager on how they intend to resolve the issue.
When will regular hours be restored? If youre going to reduce your hours (going on 2 months now) then you should reduce how much your customers are paying. You are ripping off your members. In addition, increased hours would make the gym safer because people could spread their exercise times out more. LA Fitness is not only overcharging the community during a pandemic, but they are also making it less safe by reducing available hours.
They need the eSporta makeover now and not a year from now. Don’t look at the carpet 🤮 or try to use the broken StairMasters 😡 instead I urge you to Check out Maxxz fitness down the road. They have less space but a passionate team that made it all come together, even with a giant cardio theatre inside. Pay more to be a member of dying LA fitness Downingtown where you will surely be disgusted with the conditions. Leave your honest review about LAF downingtown today so that management can turn over once again before the “eSporta” branding comes on board.
Its getting old and not for nothing ... The company needs to explain what VIP pass really means ... The employees need to read this and not make your guess feel like they have to sign up... With that being said I will be canceling my MEMBERSHIP ASAP!!!
This LA Fitness is the worst!!! The management is extremely rude and clearly on a power trip.I had the POLICE CALLED ON ME BY THEIR MANAGER because I couldnt wear my mask while doing A PARTICULAR exercise.Imagine calling the police on a lifelong customer because he is using your service and minding his own business. Truly incredible. You get what you pay for. Its a cheap price so they hire cheap management who genuinely have no clue what customer service is supposed to be.Avoid at all costs!
Super clean, tons of equipment, and super friendly staff. Love the kids klub they have there too. Its nice to not worry about finding a babysitter for when I want to work out. Best gym and cant wait to smash these goals!

DO NOT GO HERE!!! FRAUD!! AVOID THE MANAGER!!I signed up for the trial period - the general manger ASHLEY signed me up. She was weirdly pushy and made the conversation uncomfortable. After one day I wanted to cancel... It’s not a nice gym all the equipment is old and beat up!1st I called and asked the front desk girl to cancel my membership. She lied and said she wasn’t able to process my request and would have the manager call me.The manager never called so I showed up to the location. The manager said she couldn’t see me and I needed me to come back. I refused and the front desk girl admitted that she could process my request and that she would.Later that night I called and asked if my cancellation had been submitted... no surprise it had not. But the GM was available to jump on the phone. She said she would process it BUT my card would still be charged because they had a “glitchy” system... my card was not scheduled to be charged for 14 days. I asked how that made any sense and she responded there was nothing she could do!Finally I called another location and explained what was going on. The GM at that location said the cancellation would be processed the next day.If this is not FRAUD it’s at least highly unethical...Clearly this manager had been trained to be this way by corporate!Recommend KOP LA! Worth the 20 min extra drive.
LA Fitness Downingtown, I’m incredibly dissatisfied with your ability to regulate mask usage! Half the people in the facility are either wearing their masks improperly under their noses or on their chins. Patrons are walking around close to me with improper mask usage as well as not cleaning their equipment.Back to my basement gym until you start holding patrons to the standards you advertise.
Great gym! A lot of the gyms in the immediate area are not well maintained. This LA fitness is one of the cleanest and upkept gyms I’ve been to. Staff is friendly and the machines are always in working order. Will definitely be a member here for a long time!
The operation manager is an idiot. Didnt put in any effort to correct the mistake of his staff. Theyre so eager to sign you up so they can get their sales commission they dont tell you about all the fees that will hit your account later. Go 5o the gym at another location and couldnt get in even though I have the membership that allows me to use any gym. Come back to the home gym(I live 2hrs away and commute for work) to speak about the charges on my account and I was told that I had an annual fee to pay for that all members are charged 3 months into their membership. I was upset I was never told and Im talking to the assistant manager first who was the one who enrolled me in the first place. I told him he never told me about that fee. His response its in your contract and you cant get out of it . So after being mad dealing with crooked sales guys I asked for ops manager and demanded to cancel my membership I rather go to planet fitness.After I left I called corporate who cared more then the people at the gym. I called to see when the last day of my membership ends because I paid for first month and last month so I still had time to utilize the other gyms. They waived the annual fee for me since I was never told about it in order to retain me as a member. The ops manager never never tried to retain me which is bad trait for a gym manager in sales . The corporate rep was much more considerate and understanding then these guys ever will be. He reinstated my account but informed me that next year I have to pay the annual fee. I have no problem paying it I just had a problem not being told about it and then being humiliated in front of a whole bunch of people at another gym.
Fantastic!!! I always feel extra confidence when I see Maxine or Michael managing. Maxine and Michael were extremely helpful in helping me to straighten out my membership status. I am soooooo thankful for their professional expertise, courtesy, and patience in taking me through the process.
Really dirty doesn’t look like the staff ever cleans and hard to cancel membership the manger won’t call you back. Maxxs fitness in exton is cheaper and has better equipment and way cleaner with a great awesome staff
Great gym, lots of space and people are generally courteous here. Only complaint is that they dont clean it enough. Under the machines and benches there is almost always a lot of dirt and grime. Only day without it is obviously the one day a week they come in and vacuum.
I mainly go during the week at rush hour after work, so I have no knowledge of weekend activity. While they do advertise as having a lot of machinery and free weights, the number of people never seems to decrease since I started my membership around 08/2017, and my average weight time for a machine is around 5+ minutes. It may seem minimal but could add up quickly if youre trying to get in and out under an hour. Additionally, I think they expect people to use the hand sanitizer dispenser for cleaning the equipment after use. The floor mats used for ab workouts and stretching are also minimal (4-6 people max) for the amount of people they are accepting for membership, and the quantity of equipment for that area matches as well (1 foam roller, 3-4 weighted balls, and 1 medium size stability ball). Their fitness test doesnt very seem accurate as well; while I am not in my college athletic shape (2014 graduate), I have not veered off much since yet I was determined to be unfit because of the exercises they made me perform (wall sits, planks, etc...).On the positive end, their lockers (men) are fairly clean. They have a lap pool that also fills up fairly quickly and has even spaced our their classes to allow for lap swimming during the rush hour (two out of the five days of the week). The facility also provides a sauna/steam room, which I have never used. Their pricing is also very competitive (~$25pp/mo), but watch out for their sale representatives and their supervisors. Theyre actually very good and their trade and could have easily pulled any uninformed individual into their additional services; you must know what you want already when joining this club.Overall, this is what I would have expected to give and lose. If they added more benches, begun to really be mindful of their membership count for the facility, and added more exercising room/space, then would revaluate and potentially give more stars.
Plenty of classes to participate in. Instructors are very good and classes can be modified for all levels of fitness. Facility is clean. Most staff is very friendly. Spa/hot tub seems to be on the fritz a lot but I wouldnt use a public hot tub anyway. I was never given a tour of the facility, even tho I requested one, so Ive had to find things on my own. Havent used the equipment yet so I cant comment on that.
La Fitness has changed my life! The staff there is really welcoming and helpful. They want to see you succeed and live a healthier lifestyle. Great equipment, love the environment. Totally recommend!
As the biggest and strongest member of this gym I go here a lot so I can say with 100% certainty that this gym is best I’ve ever been to! Nice locker rooms, pool, sauna, fitness classes, and weight room (even though I can lift all the weights). This gym is great!
Great gym. The staff works hard to make sure you have everything you need to reach your fitness goals. The new general manager is great and encourages everyone she helps.
Best gym EVER. Im there once sometimes twice 5 times a week. They have a sauna a swimming pool full operational gym juice bar locker room classes full basketball court staff is very friendly the place is clean the only complaint I have is that its not 24 hours or that at least they open a lot earlier and close later other than that this is my home gym
Overall this place is everything you expect from a “commercial gym”. I’m a member because it’s close and they have a basketball court. One thing absolutely drives me crazy though! I’ve been a member for six years and not one day in six year have all four of their stair machines been working. Consequently it’s hard to get on one because there’s usually only one or two working. Ugh!
I love to go for the pool and the group swim classes offered. Theyre perfect for someone like me who was previously in Aqua Therapy. You can go at your own pace. Putting as much effort and exertion you feel comfortable and able doing. The instructor Shannon is phenomenal. She makes class fun and challenging. I use the pool on my own outside of group class to further my own physical therapy as aquatic therapy is ideal. My husband uses LA Fitness for its treadmills and weights to enhance his abilities as a runner. LA Fitness has everything a person needs who is serious about their health and fitness no matter their personal goals. Its a great facility, good rates, and yummy protein shakes to recharge you after a your workout is finished.
Poor management, they charge money to the customer though they havent used any service. The day i have signed up for personal training, after an hour, i sent out an email and went in person but couldnt meet the trainer as no one was available to cancel the membership. According to the agreement i can cancel the service within 3 days and no one have got back to me within 3 days. I was in contact with membership service for 2 months, requesting to refund and after 2 months i got an email that membership was cancelled but the initial amount $259 was not refunded. Based on phone conversation with membership service looks like, customers have to wait in fitness center until a trainer comes in and cancel the membership service. Within 3 days i have sent few emails, called few times to check about trainer, and cancellation status and went in person none of them worked, i had to lose my money.LAFITNESS most of the people would choose because its affordable, but eventually customer will lose the money more than the service they will receive.
They give out 7 day free passes which I used to bring some friends to try out the gym. Upon arrival I was notified that Because one of my friends had been a member of LA fitness about 4 years ago, he cannot use a guest pass they said if he wanted to try out the gym, he would need to purchase a membership.NOWHERE on the free 7 day pass does it say this . So ridiculous that I cant get a friend into the gym to try it out. Really bad customer service
I joined another gym because they overpriced and way over sold.The place can get so crowded it is dangerous to members.Lockers rooms were nasty. Overflowing trash and dirty floors.OH yeah I know two members who had there lockers or cars robbed. Both had tools used to do the job.If you need the juice look no further.
None of the employees wear their mask over the nose or follow social distancing when talking to each other. Gym goers do not wear masks on cardio machines or in the free weights section when out of the view of staff. Hard to workout safely. Would not be surprised if there is an outbreak at this facility :(
Great service here. The GM and fitness director were very helpful and guided me through the best option that fit my needs to start my goals before the new year. I highly recommend this gym to everyone!!
Very energetic and supportive environment! The staff members are always kind, friendly and willing to go the extra mile for you. This place has tons of equipment, perfect for any level of fitness. Nothing but positive things come to mind when I think of this place. 10/10 would reccomend!!
LA Fitness is a great gym no matter which ones you are in. However, the one in Downingtown PA has been going down for some time. The machines are old and breaking. If they are not physically broken then they arent being fixed. For example some have rub through the motion causing a difficult movement light or heavy. The tech would not know this unless he were to use the machine and its not just lubrication, its the bushings just being worn out and the stacks not moving evenly. The carpets and bathrooms are just disgusting at this PA location. They are old and heavily used. Lastly the staff is run by children and there is no one steering the ship. The same people have been fired or quit and come back so many times I cant believe a business is run this way. The staff has days of membership dedication, what do they do? Bring in fast food instead of promoting health. This is really bad as the gym smells plus its not a restaurant. Bring in just the local vitamin health stores and local people or hand out health bars or vouchers to the smoothy place that is on premises. Dont serve food Im surprised the board of health hasnt done something here. I truly hope that no one gets sick from open fast food in a gym. That makes no sense. Fix this gym and get it back to the clean well managed establishment it was.
The recovery zone is a ripoff. They have prepaid cards, which they hold for your convenience Well, they lost mine and took a month to find it. Regarding, the gym management, the trainers do not listen to an individuals need, but push there program--the more expensive the better. I have shoulders needing replacement, but the lead trainer wanted to work the painful shoulders harder--more pain more gain. For my wife, they wanted only a six month program, not the two months we had in the community. The free orientation did not show her all off the equipment, particularly the circuit training she wanted, but insisted on certain machines that ended up causing her pain.
This la fitness is great! Jules really helped me out with service, shes not about money shes about helping people feel comfortable in this environment and helping them to achieve their goals. Service is professional and facility is as clean as they can make it!
Great, and motivated staff. I can’t go back to any other gym, because none of the other gyms compare. Members are all friendly and facilities are top knotch. Worth every penny!
Good gym equipment, but theyve been having plumbing issues in the locker room recently that still havent been totally resolved. They need to clean the bathrooms more often and/or tell people not to abuse the facilities.
Great staff, excellent weights and facilities. Listen, if you dont want to pay more for a personal trainer, dont. Be a smart consumer and be aware of the contract youre getting into, despite any pressuring they may give you! Every interaction Ive had with their staffs been great. Highly recommend.
Good place and good value for money. There are plenty of machines to work on. They could have one or two more power racks since its hard to get hold of during peak hours. Peak hours are bit crowded hence the 4 stars. Other than that for someone on a budget but need a step up from planet fitness , LA fitness is a good fit . The pool and sauna are also useful.For those who rate LA fitness low, they are probably unrealistic , expecting a five star facility for 20 to 25 bucks a month. Its about how much one makes use of the facilities to change to a healthy lifestyle, not so much for whiners.
Ive tried many gyms, and thank god the manager i spoke with convinced me to sign up. Ive never been so pleased with the quality of a fitness center before. My search for the perfect gym has ended! THANK YOU LA FITNESS DOWNINGTOWN!!! :)
Never going to this club again, last 4 times I came here the hot tub was busted then sauna, I called yesterday and was told over the phone hot tub is fixed. Came in to use it today and when I went in the hot tub it was fine and fully functional Some girl starts banging on the glass like I need to evacuate the building. After pointing at me and banging I get out. Im told its achemical bathAgain, not going to this location ever again.
They have classes that you can attend throughout the day so there is something for you to go to no matter what your schedule is like. I personally like the full body work out plus abs with Nancy on Mondays and Fridays at 7. Wonderful instructor, very friendly!
LA fitness Downingtown is great! All of the employees are kind and helpful. The equipment is new and easy to use. All of the classes are great, especially spin and body pump. Highly recommend!!

2022-02-21This gym used to be great. USED TO BE. Sometimes in the morning during open hours the gym stays locked and closed for hours. So I stopped going in the morning. Then at night they close the doors 30 minutes before closing. So now I guess I cant go in the evenings. Last time I checked thats plenty of time to get a few miles on the treadmill.. The place is dirty and hasnt been cleaned and it shows by the number of others posting photos. Paper towel dispensers sometimes have paper towels, most of the time scheduled maintenance for equipment goes on for months, and theres no manager ever there to talk to. I tried calling their customer service number, and that doesnt work either. Honestly I think Im going to take my money else where. I suggest others looking for a gym do the same.

2022-04-10Clean, convenient and considerate. I dont like many gyms but I do like this one. Since COVID Ive paid more than going but I like that fact that its reasonably priced and I keep it for all the amenities I get, pool, classes, cycle classes etc. Im starting to go more and I see the difference. The hardest part is getting my butt there. At least Im moving, thanks Esporta!

2022-02-06Poor experience, dark tactics - I would suggest do your best research before joining this club. Couple of us joined the club to play volleyball in the court, however front desk guys cant honor court reservations or cant provide us a specified time as they promised during joining time. They give preference to basket ball players. Also, they do have dark cheap tactics like hiding volleyball net, not honoring their own promises. I would suggest find a better place for your gym activities. oh one more important thing, membership can only be cancelled only on weekdays between 9-5pm.

2021-08-05It’s kind of mind boggling to think a place would actually get dirtier during a global pandemic but leave it LA fitness to accomplish that. Empty sanitizer stations, no soap, used paper towels all over the floor and dirty toilets are a few of the amenities you can look forward to if you join. But if you’re not already sold on that, the staff couldn’t be more rude or apathetic. Honestly go for a jog and save your money. By far the worst LA fitness in PA**UPDATE**Below I’ve added two pictures. The first is the ONLY water fountain in the gym with the red filter light on, meaning they have their customers drinking disgusting water and the second picture is the one of the bathroom stalls aster it was “cleaned”

2022-05-17I like to swim and like most places, unfortunately there are less lanes then interested people. The SPA and sauna are great to relax after a workout. Machines and weights are pretty standard for these kind of gyms

2022-06-03Machines need fixed/upgraded and locker rooms/bathrooms look like they get cleaned twice a day at best. If other gyms were more local, Id be cancelling my membership.

2022-04-16The actual equipment is pretty nice, but I recommend you use the bathroom before you come. 50% of the toilets always seem to be clogged. There is never any toilet paper in the mens room....this is why I give the gym a poor bathroom rating.....a solid 2 if u know what I mean!.....

2022-04-03If you want the most annoying and absolute longest and irritating termination process, sign up for Esporta. You have to go into the gym, talk to someone, wait for an email, print out the email, mail it in, wait for a phone call and email for confirmation and then they STILL call you every day for 3 weeks asking you to reconsider your membership.You’re better off going to Gold’s, 24, or even dare I say Planet Fitness.

2022-05-13Terrible experience, have been visiting this location for over a year and between the absolutely filthy equipment and bathrooms that rarely have paper towels or soap and the rude club members (who get in your face) not to mention the staff members who do absolutely nothing while you get insulted by club members over equipment. Will never go back to this location ever again and hope everyone else avoids this particular la.

2021-08-31Honestly disgusting. I have been a LA fitness member since 2014..... its 2021, and I decided to quit my husband and my memberships. Realize, we met at LA... So this was a huge step. At least half of the equipment is broken with no time frame on when itll be fixed, the gym smells like it hasnt been cleaned in months... and based on the attached photos, its safe to say it probably hasnt been. Disgusting.
