When I first moved into my home, Larry and his sons helped me install ceiling fans and a Ring security system (doorbell and camera). More recently when I needed a light fixture installed, I used them again.On top of being very skilled electricians, the Lauterborns always are so pleasant to talk to, and have exhibited lots of patience with finicky technology and detailed-oriented work. Larry and team were so responsive. Returned my call within same day, followed through as promised, sympathized with my issues and expressed getting the kitchen electrical issues remedied immediately would be ideal, called when they had an opening and did the repairs a week earlier than promised! I highly recommend Larry Lauterborn and his team! We have an old house that was built in 1925. We put the house on the market. Our first buyer walked because of existing knob and tube. We have a second buyer who wanted the knob and tube replaced. I googled knob and tube replacement and read lots of horror stories about electricians having to tear down walls and ceilings and even floors. Needless to say, it kept me up at night because our beautiful home has lots of original details that are very rare. We had two electricians come to the house only to have them say that the job was too complicated. Because we were under contract, Larry was very responsive and scheduled the work for us despite the fact that he was very busy. We have an original tin ceiling in one of the bedrooms that has been very attractive to buyers. Larry assured us that he would save our tin ceiling. Minimal damage was done to the walls and all of the holes were patched. Larry even addressed issues that the inspector did not catch. Don’t mess around with electrical work. Hire the best! Larry is one of the best with years of experience in replacing knob and tube. And he is really funny! Our house just sold!!!!
I’ve used them before to install a new electrical panel and they did an amazing job upgrading our electrical. This time I had two new light fixtures (chandeliers) installed on our vaulted ceiling and they once again did a perfect job, making sure the lights were perfectly aligned to our windows and to each other. They were very careful not to make more holes than necessary and they kept the area incredibly clean as well. These professionals know what they are doing and care about each and every job they do.
I would highly recommend Lauterborn electric. After buying a new electric dryer in an older Philly house, we needed to have a 220 volt outlet put into our basement to power the dryer. Larry and his guys did a great job. They were professional and quick, getting the job done in less than an hour. They also went above and beyond by setting up the dryer for us. They explained how everything was set up and were priced well. If you have any concerns/ needs with the electric in your house, Larry is definitely the guy to call!

Larry and his two sons upgraded my electrical panel to 200 amp. They did excellent work and you could tell that they were very experienced at their job. Larry was timely with everything right from the beginning from writing up a proposal, starting the job and responding to questions. The price was right, they were friendly and cleaned up well. Finally found the electrician I was looking for.
Larry Sr. is a very friendly, nice guy with good responsiveness, very hard to find in electricians where smaller residential work is needed. He will be honest and let you know his timing. He and his sons have done several jobs for me and did high quality work, and even figured out a weird wiring issue that a previous person missed. Reliable and honest. Prices seemed pretty typical.
We hired Lauterborn Electric to do all of the electric work on a new addition to our home this year. We couldnt have been happier with them! I contact Lauterborn Electric to have my front door bell rerouted from the inside door frame, to the outside door frame. In the phone conversation Larry gave me an estimate based on my description of my situation. He assured me that this was only an estimate and he will not do anything until he gets a look at the entire situation and can better give a price. I accept and booked. Larry could not make it to me on our first appointment, but he did contact me to let me know his situation on another job. The next day Larry arrived with his sons, and jumped right on rerouting the wires. Unexpectedly when they realized why I wanted to reroute the bell wires, they insist on also installing my video bell system. While doing the job they ran into some issues with the app and other things, at which Larry called the app support and established what the problem was and ran to the local hardware store and purchased some items that I needed. Lauterborn Electric went above and beyond my expectations and at the end of the job, everything was perfect and the PRICE DID NOT CHANGE. I will refer Lauterborn Electric and use Lauterborn Electric for any further electrical services, because they get an A+ with CUSTOMER SERVICE.
I hired Larry, Larry and Ryan to install 2 ceiling fans with light fixtures. I called and left a message on 11/1/17 that I needed an electrician before 11/6/17. Larry called me back on 11/1/17 and made an appointment for 11/3/17. Larry and his 2 sons were on time, understood the scope of the job and worked efficiently at a reasonable cost. They were recommended by a friend when I needed a 240v outlet in my basement for a new dryer.From when they came by to do a quick assessment to completion, it took less than a week.The actual installation took less than a couple hours.Very friendly to work with, and understood exactly what I needed.Will call them again for any electrical work i need done in the future.

I needed a new outlet put into the floor- previously, we were running both the electric cords and cable cords across the room and underneath the rug to power our tv and several other devices. Clearly not safe nor attractive. The Lauterborn’s were able to route everything to the new location and its just perfect.I contacted Larry on a Friday, he provided me a quote on Saturday and was able to perform the job on a Monday- even with it not being an emergency.I would highly recommend Lauterborn Electric, and will be using them for any future Electric needs!

I bought a chandelier to be installed and it came with over 100 pieces. I was so impressed at how easily they were able to install and put together the chandelier. I first met Larry while he was installing a new service and a property I was purchasing, he was contracted by the previous owner whom I had known for a long time and recommended Larry as an electrician if I ever needed any repairs or electrical work done.Larry was such a down to earth guy, after talking to him for a few minutes you felt so at ease knowing he took a lot of pride in his work, Larry himself is a super friendly and a good sense of lighthearted humor.Now on to his work, I was lucky enough to be at the property when he was almost completed and seen the work he was doing, the quality of his workmanship is nothing less than top-notch. Larry and his sons installed a ceiling fan in my dining room. They were on time and got right to work. They cleaned up after they were done and laid drop cloths before they got to work. I absolutely love the ceiling fan, they did an excellent job and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good electrician.
Larry, Larry, and Ryan just finished rewiring our home yesterday and we could not be more satisfied with their work. We used Lauterborn Electric to completely rewire our entire home. The guys did a great job. When we purchased our home in South Philly we were told that everything, including the electric, was up to date. Fast forward to us taking out some crumbling plaster only to discover that the entire home still had knob and tube wiring. We contacted a few different companies to get quotes. Larry came out for an in-home walkthrough and gave us a competitive quote for the work. We went with them because they had great reviews, were local to the city, and they had a positive attitude. Theyre also a family owned company which is reassuring. They secured the necessary permit from the city for us and had the rough wiring done just a few days after that. They let us know exactly what we had to do on our end before they came back for the final install and completion. On the day of the final install they were patient with us when we had to run out and get some last minute supplies that we should have had on hand. They did one final test, made sure the dimmers dimmed, and sent an email explaining which switches were which since their handwriting was tough to read. All in all, I couldnt recommend Lauterborn Electric enough. If we ever need any electric work down the road well be calling them again.
Larry and his crew just completed a rewiring job at my house, bringing it up to code, and also installed some lighting. They immediately put me at ease when I met them, and they did an outstanding job in a very efficient manner for a very reasonable amount. I would enthusiastically recommend them for any electrical job that you need to have done.
End to end perfection is the best description for working with Larry and his guys (in our case Larry, the younger one, and Ryan, who did the grunt work). Honest, trustworthy and when we needed them, they fit us into their schedule. The work is outstanding, but the customer service, even better. And the guys solved a couple of tricky issues for us, which shows they are not just basic electricians. Anyone looking for electrical work would be silly to not give Lauterborn your business. And no, Im not related. We found them here on Google reviews, and we are thankful we did.

I couldn’t recommend Larry more. We just moved into a place in Fishtown area and needed a new electric panel in the basement. We got 3 estimates and decided to go with Larry. He took the time to walk us through everything and was from the area as well. Within a few days after the estimate, Larry and his guys came out and seamlessly installed the new panel. Larry also saw our outdoor meter wasn’t caulked so took a couple extra minutes to help us silicone/caulk that and a few fixtures outside. All in all, I’d say at the very least have Larry and his guys out and odds are you’ll want to go with them for any electrical issues moving forward. Thanks again!

There are not enough ways to articulate just how good of a job this crew does. Larry and his guys installed a 120 volt outlet in my garage, that draws electricity directly from my condo unit, so that I may charge my motorcycle batteries. It was fairly labor intensive, with a lot of concrete to drill through, and they knocked it out flawlessly, in no time flat. Their prices are fair, the work is clean, theyre all personable, and they promptly scheduled a date and time that worked for me (immediately following the gratis quote they came out and performed).
They were responsive, professional, quick, clean, and polite. We were looking for a day they could come and they would text us openings when they could come over. Was super easy and they accepted Venmo payments. Would definitely recommend for anyone in the area looking for solid, professional, and reliable electric work.

I am a hard person to please when it comes to contractors since I have an engineering background, Ive worked as a PM for many years, and I do a lot of things around my house myself. That being said, I couldnt be happier with the level of service that Ive gotten from Lauterborn. Ive used them twice, once for a partial power outage and the second time to do some minor troubleshooting and electrical repair in my kitchen. Both times they were extremely responsive, friendly, and helpful. I am very pleased with the work theyve done for me and plan on contacting them in the future for any electrical work I need done.
Working with Lauterborn Larry and his son was a fun experience. They werent the lowest price or the highest BUT for the service, you cant beat the value! They fixed our lighting issue in under 20 minutes. I like that I could communicate via text and email (some in the old guard still fax and make you pay a fee to come out and then more money to fix the problem)Ive got his card on my frige ready for the next electrical issue.Great job
I recently rehabbed a house in Fishtown. Lauterborn Electric handled the electric from the outside service down to the under counter lighting in my kitchen when they completely rewired my place. They were always on time and stayed on schedule for completing the project. Larry and his sons took the time to work with me to layout all of the lighting elements in the house. The end result was a professional and clean look. If you want a contractor who cares about the end result, these are your guys.
Its been a few years since Larry and his sons came to work on our house in S. Philly. I owe them this review. They replaced our corroded 100 AMP service with a 200A panel. They ran a new circuit to every room on the 2nd and 3rd floor. They also completely wired our new kitchen for us.The best way to describe their work is art. I dont believe I am overstating my case. Ive never seen an electrical panel look so beautiful. The time and attention to detail they took to make the panel look clean reveals to me a deep love of their job and care for their customers.They were also just a lot of fun to listen to as they worked together and they even shared Philly Soft Pretzels with our family.Excellent company!

We had Lauterborn Electric come out to our new home a few years ago and had them install lighting fixtures under our deck, a motion sensor light on the front of the deck and on the side of our house, and two outside outlets. Everything was done in no time and I have never had any issues. Installation was clean and timely and I could not be happier with the service and the outcome! I would highly recommend them.
Our home had an electrical box from the 60s which was likely the same time as when the service wires from the street were installed. In the middle of a Sunday night I was woken up by a loud bang and all of our lights flickering. I went to the basement to find the wires entering the house scorched, smoking, and buzzing. Since the wires in the wall were still live, we shut the power off to the house. I spent the rest of the night with a flashlight, fire extinguisher, and googling local electricians.Since this was an emergency situation I called several electricians the next morning with the hope someone would get back to me asap. Lauterborn Electric had great reviews and even had examples of our exact issue on their website so my hope was to get through to them.One of the reviews had mentioned to call the mobile # for Lauterborn and to not be discouraged if you went to the voicemail because Larry, the owner, would call you back in a few minutes. Sure enough, this is exactly what happened. I left a voicemail and he called me back within 5 minutes. No other electrician called me back, still hasnt.Larry was very friendly, listened to my issues, and said he would be out that afternoon to look into it. Him and his son Larry showed up, assessed the wires, let me know exactly what I needed and the exact cost it would be and that they could get it done the next day. They also cut the lines to the house so I didnt have a live wire in my wall over night.Sure enough, they showed up when they said they would the next day and finished everything up by that afternoon. Larry and his sons were very courteous, kept the work space clean, and took any residual trash with them.I have some electrical knowledge so I can tell you the work they did was beyond exceptional, they built a wall for the new service box and meter, they installed all of our existing circuits into the new box extremely neatly, they properly grounded everything with the cold water line and a ground rod (which you dont typically have in older row homes), weather proofed and protected the service line from the street all the way down and into the house, and did it all at a great price.I cant say enough good things about these guys. Larry said they do work all over, but were in Port Richmond so theyre local and will be who we call for any electrical work in the future. Thanks again Larry.

They came not only on time, but caled and ask if they could come earlier.They made a safe and sound job of my not so smart attempt at installing a ceiling fan in an old house with old wiring. Neat, clean and fast too, done in less than an hour, even though they had to saw through my slat ceiling to put in the junction box. Plus all of them were pleasant and willing to answer any questions. Definitly my go to electricians from now on.
Ive had the pleasure of working with the Lauterborns on big (and often small) commercial electrical projects with my employer. They were wonderful to work with, reliable, adaptable to unusual working conditions, and have a great sense of humor. One day after Sandy im watching tv and it goes out but my lights are one so I figure the outlet went bad and plug the tv into another outlet. Then I notice that some other things werent working,so I called Lauterborn Electric they had someone there within an hour and discovered that my service was flooded (the worst service they ever saw, there is photes on their web page) but he hooked up my important things to a good leg of service (fridge heater some lights ect) so that i wasnt left in the dark.Returned the next day with a crew a replaced my entire service from tie in to outlets for a very reasonable price. Other companies that I called didnt even have time to get to me for up to a week.and because of SANDY their prices were like 3 to 4 times what I was charged by Lauterborn they were neat,fast,reasonable priced,and did nice work. Heck they even took away all the trash,cant beat that ( Im still finding wire from the cable guy from his job. When anyone askes me, If I know a good electrician I tell they LAUTERBORN ELECTRIC.
They never called me. Once someone assumed he answered my question via EMAIL, I responded, letting him know he assumed wrong, but not once did they call me, even after several follow ups on my part. I went as far as requesting they provide a number of person that will be handling my quote as this is the only way to avoid unwanted SPAM. Zip, nada. They were not interested in assisting me and never heard back. No one likes to be ignored but at end of day, the lesson is on me as I contacted them a few years back, same result.

2022-05-25Larry and his team were very prompt and professional. He was able to come out same day and fix an issue I was having. His team came out a few days later and replaced my breaker box. Larry gave me a reasonable quote before repairs and didnt change it after the job was done.

2021-12-03I contacted Larry at 11AM on a Tuesday to do some electrical repair for a rental property in Center City. By Wednesday at 11AM, the job we complete. He worked with my tenant directly for ease of scheduling, kept me updated via texts on progress and cost estimates. Payment via VenMo made the entire job and experience incredibly simple and efficient. I was able to manage the entire exchange via my iPhone - cant get any easier. 2022-04-19These gentlemen were amazing from the moment I contacted them for help and they squeezed me in to solve my immediate issue and then handled a decent sized rewiring job, to fix the larger issue, while also upgrading my service. They were very easy and nice to work with and took the time to explain the issues, how they were going to fix them and then they simply took care of business. I would recommend them too anyone in bed of any electrical work.

2022-04-07I have used them to fix an old electrical panel that was wired poorly and never had a problem since even upgraded for modern power needs. Then they wired a room add on with outlets high in the room for my kids train to run around the ceiling. The latest job they came in a secured my house electrical after a toy battery fire on the 3rd floor. Then they came back and pretty much rewired everyroom that was damaged in the fire. They did a great job and passed the electrical inspection everytime. They do a nice, clean wiring job.

2020-12-18Larry and his team replaced the knob and tube wiring and replaced the panel in our recently-purchased Philly row home, and I could not be happier with the job they did. From the moment I reached out, I felt like they were going to take care of us, and I was never disappointed. Larry was one of the few electricians who could give me a ballpark estimate before we had access to the house, and he stuck to that estimate throughout the entire process. He explained everything to me, was open, honest, and transparent about everything that would need to be done. His work was always professional - no corners were cut, and he ended up cutting far less holes in my walls than I had anticipated. When the handyman came in to quote me for the patching that was required after all the new wiring, he was impressed at the job that Larry did and the cost of patching was below the price window that he originally estimated!Lastly, and I cant stress this enough, Larry and his team were great communicators. We had a lot of back and forth throughout the process, over the phone, via email, via text, and I could always get a hold of Larry when I needed to. I knew when he was coming and going, and when he committed to being at our house, he was there. Everything was done on schedule!My wife and I have had an overwhelming and stressful experience buying an old home in the city and navigating first time home ownership. Lauterborn Electric was an incredible silver lining throughout this process.Highly, highly recommend.

2020-11-03Larry and his sons are the BEST!! Larry was extremely responsive to my request- I think he had his team come to my house for an estimate and to go through what I needed, within 2-3 days from my inquiry. They then came to the house to put in about five light fixtures and two chandeliers within the week.They were professional, fast, performed quality work while being fun to work with (“work with” as in me talking to them while they were putting everything together and installing).I will be using them for every electric need I have in the future. Highly recommended.
