Customer service is on point and the food is so good and fresh I got the salmon rice and broccoli and everything was on point
The young lady that takes the order is a sweetheart, but some of the other staff have a attitude problem. I waited over a hour for 1 special of the day & 3 platters. Apparently I was waiting for mac & cheese for 3 platters & I was never told it will be a wait😒. Once I asked why Im still waiting I was told by the chick in the kitchen that the Mac is cooking & I can wait or get something else 🤬. So I was already waiting for an hour so I waited.
I gave this place a 3 only cause I didnt eat here yet, I tried rushing from North to West to catch me a plater from here , but when I arrived they was sold out.But I hear they got awesome food and I cant wait to get my taste in
It was My time - - they didnt have Salmon 😟- So I the fish - it was good , a little salty ..... other than that... I would go back... Hope they have Salmon 😷

So my coworker treated for lunch and chose this spot. First barrier: they don’t allow you to get double sides, even if there’s no other sides you like. I don’t eat candy yams and that’s what was given to me. Secondly, the string beans were like they came straight from the can no salt, pepper or garlic powder (just blatantly bland). The portions for the sides were very skimpy, so therefore they definitely could have gave me double string beans. The only thing about my meal that was worth eating was the fried wing dings and this pink juice they serve. That’s the only reason they are getting 2 stars. Wouldn’t recommend.
Time consuming. Went there once and will come back again when I have time. Their instagram says theyre open at 12. When I got there at 12:30 they said they will open at 1. When I got there at 1, they said they will open at 1:30. When I got there at 1:30, there was a long line of people waiting. Stood there maybe 20 minutes. When I approached the counter, I saw that the $5 platters are actually $6 (which is kind of funny given that they call themselves home of the $5 platter). Juices are delicious and cost $5. I waited another 20 minutes or so to get the food. You leave your number and they call you when its ready. Basically it took about 2 hours to get the food. The platter itself was good. The yams were delicious! Thats a great price for a whole meal. I just wish you didnt have to wait so long.

Online it says it close at 8. I got there at 5 and was calling all day with no answer. I traveled 2 hrs to try their food and was very disappointed. Maybe Ill try another day. Also when I arrived there was people inside and I stood there to see what they would say but they kept their head down. Working with the public is a very tough thing but you wont get far with a terrible attitude towards the people who are contributing their money towards their business.UPDATE! I went Sunday afternoon. Cash only! Very straight to the point and you can tell the food was mad with love ❤️ I need to go back!
This is definitely not fast food. For six bucks the food is good and cooked well. Everything I ordered I enjoyed but the wait to receive the food was way too long and not worth the wait. If the food is not prepared don’t open the kitchen. No one should be waiting in line for more than five minutes the whole experience should be at least 10. On Saturday I went to get food at 12 like it says they would be open but they weren’t open until oclock. I didn’t get my food until 2:30. Riding the TickTock wave is cool but make sure your customers want to come back. The poor service ends up overshadowing how good I am more than affordable the food is.
Great food and everything is $5 a platter. My first visit was about 3 weeks ago and I went again this past weekend. Ive had all the main dishes: chicken, fish, shrimp, with all the sides and must say I was impressed, especially for only $5. This past weekend they had a fried salmon special platter with rice and broccoli. My first time trying fried salmon and it was good. Great service as well. It was busy around 2pm on Saturday, to avoid the wait which was only about 15-20 minutes, they open at noon and it was only about 5 minutes wait time. Enjoy!
The $5 Platters were delicious...the fish and shrimp were my favorites. The salmon, yellow rice & broccoli was seasoned well. The yams, greens and string beans were delicious two. If you are a hungry man or lady just buy two platters. The price is right and you can’t go wrong at Lavish.
Saw on TikTok and I’m staying in Philadelphia for the week , drove 30 minutes to get some food , Close at 6 and stoped taking orders at 5 when I arrived….

I LOVE LAVISH! This place is the Home of the $5 Soul Food Platter! I eat here all the time, at least a couple times a week. For $5 a plate, and its good, delicious food, and filling. Its a real bargain! I eat there so much, the staff know me by name, and I refer everyone I know to go there and by a platter or more from them. If you have not been here yet, do so. Take it from me, a frequent eater of their food, Youll love it! 😋 👍💯
Drove two hour from the Poconos to get here at 6:10p and they were closed!!!!! Disappointing when the close time says 8p.
VERY good food. Well seasoned and fresh... Very reasonable pricing. Would have given five stars if all the food on the menu was readily available consistently. Been here three times and each time, had to change my food request due to items having run out.

Just left Lavish and was not impress at all. My husband platter his rice was cold and I had the tiniest wings ever. Paid $5 for a slice of cake that was brought from the market. I love strawberry lemonade and no taste at all could put just a little bit of sugar in it next time. Customer service had no issue the lady taking our order was Polite. I don’t think I be coming back at all, I’m actually going home cook my own Soul Food.
I just ate my first platter from Lavish. I still have one more to go but the first platter was pretty tasty. The restaurant was kinda crowded no social distancing. The food was coming out kinda slow. I only saw one lady in the back. I think they might need a little more help in the kitchen. The food was good it wasn’t a lot but it was 5.00 so I didn’t expect big portions.

Lavish has changed alot. When lavish first opened food was always delicious, full menu and great customer service. No one wears mask, hair net. Folks just want in and go yo back when kitchen is. Lavish is losing its touch. Menu is usually half if the items within 2 hours of opening. No set hours . Lavish Id going to the dumps it was great for the community at first I hope they do better at their new chester location.
It was ok for it to have been $6 but the food needs more seasoning, the macaroni was bland, the string beans had nothing on them! The roast beef was really good and so was the fried fish
I was visiting the neighborhood, and my sis lives in the area, so she turned us on to Lavish. The food was the bomb, seasoned to perfection. I live on the deuce, and lavish will be my #1 spot in west Philly. Keep up the good work guys, service was impressive as well.
Unprofessional and unorganized! Drove 55 minutes to try this place! When I arrived the hostess wasn’t friendly! Place my order “special” and was told they will call me! 35 minutes went by and still no call! So, I decided to call and the lady said we are sold out! So, when was you going to call me and let me know! Her response was you can order something different (and wait another 35 minutes) or get a refund!! UNACCEPTABLE!! If your establishment isn’t ready for the publicity your receiving! My suggestion is buy more food and hire more staff!!

After you walk over the abundance of trash littering the front of the restaurant one would wonder if the food would be clean at this location. Went in to get food with my friend but when I seen they never swept in front of there store I seriously question how can there food be clean honestly how can you let customers walk past so much dirt.

Ok everyone I think everything was breaded using same breading 😳 fish was kinda weird tough not flacky or very flavorful shrimp were cooked to perfection but again lacking flavor the wings were ok had a bit more flavor but meh 🤷🏾♀️ they did give me all flats 😍 Now the sides the yams smack straight like that the mac and cheese was very cheesy but no flavor you know a little salt goes a long way 🤦🏾♀️ the yellow rice was flavorful but hard needed to cook a little longer the greens 😒 tasted like spicy pickles so I dont know about that and they gave me yellow rice instead of green beans so I can comment on those. But overall you get what you pay for its not bad for $5
Very Good Food!!! I visited Philadelphia twice in 2 weeks both on a Saturday. They dont tell you on the website, that they open at 1pm on Saturdays. They didnt have the Turkey Spaghetti nor the Salmon. My daughter and I got the chicken and the white fish. Yams, Mac N Cheese, Greens were off the hook! They are Lit on Fire!!!! I came up from Richmond Virginia to go to Lavish. They never seem to answer their phone! However, I must say that the Supervisor did take my order and accommodate me for traveling from Richmond Virginia, via Detroit, Michigan. Yes you read it right. I am from Detroit Michigan, I was in Richmond Virginia on business while I saw Lavish on YouTube last year in 2020. I was determined to make it up to Lavish, so I finally made it in Saturday, September 4th, 2021, and again Saturday, September 11, 2021. Yes the food is that GOOD!!!!!!! No, I lied. The FOOD is GREATTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!
This place lives up to its name and the other reviews of it. The food here is worth more than what you pay for it and I would get this everyday if I lived close enough! The staff here is also really good and want to make sure you get what you need.

Love lavish food and have been a loyal customer but today that stops the customer service is not there needs a lot of improvement especially whomever is taking orders at the front desk. My orders were Wrong two days this week and when confronted with the issue the owner cook or front desk person did not bother to give a sorry for inconvenience discount or thank you for being a loyal customer !! And had to wait for my food while they took another order? But I got attitude and stares I’m good off lavish.
This place is a joke. Small kitchen not capable of more than 2 orders at a time. Also, no one picks up the phone. Waited over an hour in a line of ten at 1pm. Food was not that great for the wait. Below average

It ok. Customer service is not good. The gentleman that took my order had an attitude. I wasnt go to purchase anything after my initial encounter but I said no support black business.Lets talk about after placing my order. 6 people came after me and they received there order 1st. This place opens at 1pm and I came after work (I get off at 2pm and work 2min away from this place) I said this because I inquired about my order after I noticed the 6 people who ordered after me get their order first. I was told they ran out of French fries and they just came. Why wasnt I informed of this. The special of the Day is fish hoagie platter that comes with French fries. If u know u have this special running for the day why wouldnt you have more then enough fries plus ur everyday orders.Anyway, I purchased 2 fish (swai) hoagie platters ($5 a piece) and a seafood salad ($5). The fish was a bit mushy and the seafood salad was good (a little salty but good). Overall i dont think i will be back but at least i supported.
I went to visit this place because when JL Jupiter let’s me know the food is good, I’m there. Needless to say highly disappointed and won’t be going back. My platter looked nothing like what they served JL. For my chicken wings I was served wing dings. I was served an ice scoop of potato salad and mac and cheese. The potato salad taste of dill and the Mac and cheese have no flavor. I didn’t touch the wing dings because they were way to greasy. The cake I got was a store bought care that they cut up in slices and the banana pudding was a scoop of pudding and one shortbread cookie on top. I also tried the famous shrimp fried rice and it was not appealing. Really had high hopes for this establishment. Not going to go back here to spend money because it’s just not worth it. It’s just sad when the food is good for bloggers, but when the community and people outside the community come in to get some good soulfood it’s not the same.

I was craving some good soul food and that’s exactly what i got. I ordered the swai fish platter with mac & collard greens, it was sooooo good. fish was fried and seasoned to perfection, can’t stress that enough. I took pictures after i started eating but they blessed my platter lol . Oh & it was only $6!

My family and I went to support but was HIGHLY TRULY DISAPPOINTED...NOT LARGE WHOLE WINGS, (LITTLE WING DINGS) SMALL SPOON OF....well you all can see for yourselves... 2022-06-08I was looking for a hidden gem and thanks to JL, I found it. The ladies were so nice and it felt like aunties making homemade food. I tried everything except the salmon (sold out) and appreciated every bite. If I had to choose, the star for me was the swaiiiii. I can’t choose a side bc they were all so good and necessary 😋 A must if you’re going to Philly.Thank you for the homemade soul food and that playlist 🙌🏼 they revitalized my spirit and brought back some goood memories.

2021-08-17Heads up they’re cash only!I saw a video about Lavish on TikTok and decided to check them our on my lunch break. Despite a really impressive line I was able to order and get my food in under 30 minutes. They did raise their prices to $6 but it’s still an amazing deal. They also sell slices of pie and pound cake for $5.I had the salmon platter and it was delicious. Really well seasoned and you can tell they know their way around soul food. I’m definitely going to go back and try one of their platters.You have to get there early though! I was there 15 minutes after open and the line was already quite long.

2022-07-24So good you gotta catch them while you can. They sell out fast. Everything Ive had so far is good. (Salmon, chicken, greens, yams, macaroni and cheese, yellow rice) No complaints. Nice black owned establishment. I especially love the decor and music they play.

2022-08-11I was here my first time today. Ordered chicken, Mac n cheese , n string beans. It was soooo good. Mac n cheese was good n cheesy. String beans seasoned, n chicken was just right. Only thing is they ran out of yams at like 4:30/5. I’m guessing They close when they sell out, because they closed earlier than their closing time. It was a little busy but it was so organized! The customer service was great!! It’s worth the wait, it’s a $6 platter and their black owned. Support our community 💕 if I knew it was this good I wouldve ordered more food for later😂

2022-04-27Well, I first heard about this place through JL Jupiter on YouTube and since seeing that video and how good that food looked. I knew when I visited Philly again, I was going there. After visiting family, I stopped by. My husband and I was not disappointed, from the moment I walked in (I’m so sorry I didn’t get the young lady’s name) but it was 4/26 a little after 12pm when we came in. She was so delightful, so professional and then on top of that the owner took a picture with us, per request. He was very welcoming and the food was no joke it’s worth more then the price. The food was well seasoned and I will be going back again thank you JL Jupiter and thank you for the owner of lavish for the food being just what your logo says LAVISH!!

2021-04-21Although the food is fantastic when you get to the block there is so much trash and debris on the outside that it makes you a tab bit nervous about inside. Once inside you can see how clean it really is including the bathroom. The businesses in that block can invest in someone within the community to keep the erea clean. Outside your establishment is just as important as inside. We just need to clean up our community.
