Positive: The valet on duty on the afternoon of 4/14 was very helpful and thoughtful. Negative: The hotel was dark and uninviting. I did not like that our room faced the interior courtyard with very little natural light. The staff was fine but not particularly friendly, with the exception of the valet.
I recently stayed at Le Meridien Philadelphia and my stay was OK. I think the highlight of this stay was Amuse, the hotels restaurant. We ordered burgers, the Arugula Salad, the Shrimp Cocktail and Mango Margarita which we truly enjoyed. The French Fries were so good! I strongly recommend. Now, when it comes to the stay, the rooms in my opinion were OK. We were on the 9th floor and the windows on the exterior were extremely dirty and hard to look at with bird poop all over. The city view from our room was highly disappointing and I wouldve honestly preferred an atrium room view to be honest. The sofa in our room has a stain and I noticed a coffee cup under the sofa. Poor house keeping? When it comes to valet, the first day was strange as their system could not locate or recognize our ticket number therefore we couldnt request the car ahead of time as they advised. We had to come down and hand the ticket to the attendant, whom I told the system did not recognize our ticket. Retrieving our vehicle at check out time was a pain. We came down, handed the ticket and it took 30 minutes. We were promised that the valet parking fee of $65 would be refunded so we are waiting on that. The hotel is steps away from LOVE Park.
For the most part all luxury Marriott brands in Philly are similar. Incredible service, pretty good location, good building/decor, and not good cleanliness. Housekeeping has been an issue for every Marriott in every city I’ve been since coronavirus, but I don’t think it’s excusable to have bodily hairs in the bathroom or have the towel come up brown after wiping excess water. It didn’t seem that the carpet was vacuumed. Also, it’s worth noting the housekeeper *came into my room* while I was still in bed at 10am. I understand they knock but is it so hard to get a list from the front desk of guests who have not checked out yet? It wouldn’t be unreasonable for somebody to be changing their clothes when they walk in like that. It’s a shame because as I said the service really is unparalleled even compared to very high end hotels. Elegant but not stuffy. I just expect a little more cleanliness for this price. Also super minor gripe but if you take cold showers it’s kind of difficult to get it to cold without shutting it off. But that’s just nit picking. Not a bad stay, but Philly Marriotts haven’t quite caught up to other major cities. For example, the JW in Indianapolis was a similar price and one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at a Marriott.
Another average hotel. Nicer more fancy looking rooms. But they didn’t even have glasses that previous cheaper hotels did. Safe enough area. I mean there was a guy doing crack out of a red bull can in the street outside of our hotel. But like it’s Philadelphia, that’s probs as safe as you will get.
A lot of these reviews, you would think this is a hit-or-miss place. In reality, the hotel is a great mid range hotel. Expecting the ritz for $150 a night? Not happening. But lets be honest. for the price it is a good hotel, with nice accommodations and friendly staff.
We stayed back in November for my husband’s birthday. I was waiting to write a review cause I was hoping the situation would resolve but it didn’t.Besides walls being super thin, so you could hear the whole conversation in the room next door, our major disappointment comes from the house keeping staff that mishandled a designer item.We left the hotel on Sunday. Unfortunately I forgot my expensive pair of boots right by the table. I realized the loss just a few hours later. Called the hotel immediately. Housekeeping was gone by then but I was assured that it’s probably in lost and found and they’ll find it tomorrow. Next day that informed me that house keeping threw them away!!!!! Which I believe is a major negligence or possibly a theft. After months of deliberations and communications with hotel’s management and insurance they denied to take any responsibility for this action and no reimbursement for the item was provided. We’ve traveled the world, stayed in all kinds of hotels but I’ve never seen such a dismissive treatment of guests… Judge for yourself.
This unpleasant run down “motel 6” look -a -like is absolutely horrible. From the moment we arrived, everything was unprofessional and underwhelming with the hotel offering valet only parking at $65 day. $65 freaking dollars for an already $700 stay. This is the hotel that Western Governors University recommended for their host hotel for graduates and they should absolutely be ashamed. There’s absolutely no way I’m staying in this hotel past tonight. This doesn’t deserve 1 star. This is more like a run down motel establishment in the middle of the hood. Marriott has throughly disappointed me as I’ve had certainly higher expectations of both my graduation weekend as well as the hotel due to being a Bonvoy member. I will NEVER book with Marriott hotels again!!
Best stay Ive had in PA so far. Jaqueline at the front desk was super friendly and extremely warm(she felt like family). So much so that we extended our stay by an extra night. Will highly recommend this hotel. Habib had amazing customer service too. Overall happy with my stay here.
If it werent for the non posted 65$ a night parking i would stay again. When i checked out i got hit with a huge bill 260$ for parking. front desk didnt seem to care much.oh well they lost3 weeksof buisness not only from me but my coworkers and team. This isnt a traditional meridien but the staff was great.
We were in town for a show and chose the hotel because the pics looked good. The hotel definitely didn’t disappoint. It’s centrally located (right by love park, and up the street from reading terminal market). Staff were always super friendly and jumped in to help whenever appropriate. The bar was costly (drinks were great) but that’s to be expected for a hotel bar. It was overall a very pleasant stay, and definitely will be back!
Overall the hotel had a great location and nice lobby to gather with friends and family. The rooms were also nice, but the textiles were well past their useful life, pillows were not clean and had make-up stains on them and the bedding was made for a double/queen and not king. Hand sanitizer in lobby was empty the entire from Friday through Sunday. On Sunday when we told the front desk they said they have bags of it out back but only change it on Monday before the GM comes in. That was very interesting and totally against all the new COVID cleaning protocols that are advertised. In addition, lobby area had stains on tables from the first night that were never cleaned up. Overall cleanliness seemed to be an issue for this hotel
Really enjoyed the stay. Very unique hotel, feels like the old days. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hotel is conveniently located close to everything. We toured all the major historic touristic locations by foot. Ate at few restaurants nearby out of hundreds to choose from. It takes exactly 2 minutes to get to the Philadelphia Convention Center. We are looking forward to coming back in the winter.
We came from Cali and felt right at home upon arrival. The valet staff were very friendly, helpful, and fast. The front desk staff were lovely and super sweet. The room was spacious with a cute view of the inside, brick-looking rooms downstairs. The bartender was fantastic with making us laugh and feeling comfortable. Lastly, the breakfast staff were just the icing on the cake by being so nice before we checked out. Overall, would definitely stay here again.
Short Dark skinned women with glasses clearly has Self- Hatred issues BIG TIME! I watched as she was Overly polite to this 30 something year old White women by joking with her, explaining everything and thanked her for the stay. In addition to providing her with two bottles of water. Meanwhile when my Boyfriend was next in line to Check in, she didnt great him, her tone of voice was Stern, unwelcoming and told him to look on the card for the room number when he asked what it was. She didnt even give nor offer us any waters! When I told him to ask her for It she had the nerve to get a major attitude! EVERYONE DESERVES GOOD SERVICE BLACK OR WHITE ! Still cant get over how fast she immediately switched up on us because we were not White! She needs to take some more Customer Service Training!!
Great customer service. Cozy room. I asked for early check in upon arrival and our room was ready when we arrived. This was important because we landed in the city on a rainy wet day and were soaking wet by the time we arrived to the hotel. So being able to check in right away was key! Additionally although it was a summer day, it was a raw, cool day, coupled with us being wet, the HVAC system efficiently worked, going from cooling to heat. Sounds simple but at this time it was so important! Further, we received complimentary bottles of water, which was welcomed. However there were no cups for coffee and the shower stall was not as clean as it should have been. Next time I would get a room with two double beds as the room we had was a king bed and it was small, but cozy.
First, of the 4 staff members we dealt with, one at the front desk wore a mask over her mouth and nose, one wore it over her mouth or under her chin (different times), the bartender wore nothing, and a man who did different things wore none half the time, then wore one, then did not. They were all very friendly and helpful, but this made us feel uncomfortable. There was no trash can anywhere in our room. There was no fridge, just a space with a piece of a fridge (we think) in it. I got an email from the general manager asking for my expected arrival, and if there was any particular food we wanted. Neither was addressed when we got there. Not a big deal, but why ask? It made us expect something. When I wrote back that the lack of masks made us uncomfortable, I got no response. The beds were miserable! Neither of us slept more than a few hours. They were so soft they did not support us at all. We have our own rental and we would have never offered these to our guests. We were shocked. The location was great, but we expected much more from this chain.
We checked into our room to find that the AC fan was quite loud so we were able to move rooms. The second room was fine until I pulled the drawer out to put my stuff away, it completely fell apart and off the tracks. we were moved a third time to a decent room over looking the city. When I went to take a shower, the empty body wash tube was still in the shower from the previous stay. We went out for the day and when we came back to the room, housekeeping did not touch our room; bed was still unmade and the towels were waiting to be cycled out. We asked the front desk how often housekeeping was supposed to come by since it had been two days without service and they said it was daily. The desk attendant apologized and sent up housekeeping when we went out. Came back to find the bed unmade. This hotel is a joke.
Everything was pleasant! Valet was convenient, front desk super friendly, and the room was clean and spacious. Took advantage of the Hotel bar as well, which was awesome. We could walk to everywhere we needed to go, being right in the heart of center city. I liked how the building was discreet and blended in with the other buildings in the area - a nice European touch in a major American City. Would stay again!
I am completely satisfied with my stay at your hotel, the location and just perfect, the facility is well maintained and the personnel makes you feel welcomed. From the Valet, to the Restaurant everyone was making sure that we the customers are taking care of. Outstanding customer service, Congratulations I will highly recommend Le Meridien to friends, family and corporations.
Its a nice hotel right near the masonic temple and in the heart of Philly it feels. Im a little sad I couldnt soak in the tub or have a microwave/refrigerator but they were happy to open my personal wine bottle at the bar and warm up Petes pizza in their lounge area. Friendly and accommodating staff. Would come back.
The hotel is centrally located to all great tourist places. I was disappointed that there wasnt a refrigerator (I requested one, but never materialized in my room), no microwave. It was during COVID-19, so I should have expected those items to be missing. The front desk staff was EXCELLENT! Very helpful in getting me where I needed/wanted to go along with other special requested I had. The little snacks that were put out were a nice treat!I would stay again if/when I return to Philadelphia. Room was big, very comfy feeling and the bed was soft and wonderful!
The location was great with the train station only a block away. There was live music in the Love Park which was also only a block away. Also close to Reading Terminal market for a great breakfast! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very nice. The room was spacious and there were complimentary toiletries. Just wish the fridge was plugged in.
Disappointed with this hotel. When we arrived, the staff just watched me try to juggle 2 small children and bags of luggage without asking to help. The wheelchair entrance was not staffed and locked, requiring a 5-10 min wait whenever we needed to come in with my child’s stroller or disabled sister’s wheelchair. The second night we were there it rained and the ceiling leaked causing the bathroom to flood. We had to move to a new room in the middle of the night. The floor supervisor said the night would be covered for the inconvenience and yet on the final bill it wasn’t and a different manager that day said they don’t do that. Horrible service in general (needing to call twice and wait 40 minutes for a luggage cart for example). The service at the in house restaurant was horrible (largely to being understaffed). It is not the quality or the service I expect from a Le Meriden. I highly recommend you stay somewhere else
Well managed and appointed hotel in a great location in the heart of downtown Philadelphia. Service and very good and the staff friendly and accommodating, except a single individual, that I can mark off as an exception. Rooms facing the street have good views of the city. Housekeeping was done everyday without asking or avoiding it under the excuses of COVID, that several hotels have been doing recently after understaffing housekeeping. Wouldnt hesitate to stay here again.
We were excited to have booked rooms at the Le Meridien in Philly for a wedding weekend. Having stayed at other Le Meridien branded hotels previously we expected a high level of amenities and overall high-quality stay. The reality was quite different. It started off with parking. Only parking available is valet parking for $60 per night, park in the garage down the street otherwise - total inconvenience and also not very welcoming.Small, stuffy room with temperamental HVAC. Room cleanliness was lacking and bare bones essentials (one bar of soap, really?). Completely uninspiring bar and dining area which was empty most of the time. Not a place where you want to spend any time. The only bright spot was the staff. Super friendly and helpful, they were awesome. Almost like they felt bad for the guests staying in the hotel.
The staff is among the friendliest youll find, but the hotel is showing its age. There are loud annoying sounds that are clearly related to the plumming that can be heard at all hours of the day and night. In my particular room, the bathroom sink only produced hot water and housekeeping never came to my room. I never need hotel staff to clean my room every day of my stay, but I do expect to get refills of coffee and tea in my especially when that is the only thing they offer in the hotel. This is a nice place with very friendly staff, but Im afraid its just not worth the money.
Staff was very nice and accommodating. Bar was very nice with a good bartender. However, was not happy with my overall stay because there were no refrigerators in the rooms. Staff said they were being replaced throughout the hotel but this was NOT communicated to us prior to the stay or upon checkout. Very disappointed in this. There was also not a microwave in room.
We have been using this hotel for every trip to Philly for several years. Its a great hotel, the staff are fantastic, location puts so much within walking distance and they have a great valet parking setup. Prices are very reasonable for such a nice place. Its not crazy fancy, but artistically upscale.
Great location and pleasant hotel. Complete absence of housekeeping during my four day stay. Food was average for complimentary breakfast. Personnel were very friendly and helpful No refrigerators in room, and coffee service in rooms is average, inferior to other Le Meridiens in USA and overseas.
We are a Marriott family through and through and have stayed at other Le Meridian properties and were very happy with them. Here however, our room had stained carpets, one of the beds had a body sized trench on the mattress which was very uncomfortable. It was huge, I can’t be the first person to call attention to it,Why is this mattress still being used? There were not enough towels for not having daily services. There seemed to be not enough people working the desk. On multiple occasions when I called for towels or to retrieve our car, I was unable to reach anyone. The employees are great and so pleasant but not enough of them at times. The restaurant was not really open for dinner and closed up for drinks at 10pm. The Marriott property City center’s restaurant was fully open and serving food and drinks past 10pm.
This Méridien didn’t hold up to its name or standard like it does in Boston and elsewhere. A barn door for a bathroom never offers much privacy. In my room in particular, the door appeared to be on its tracks correctly but would not roll, it needed to be shoved open and closed. The shower door leaked and the shower floor appeared grimy. Even the bedside tables were odd; they have an unnecessary large gap where I could see previous guests had dropped things they were unable to recover. The location was good and the staff were very kind but I would not stay here again.
The Le Meridien is the perfect location if you want to be close to Love Park. The property is gorgeous. There is free breakfast for Platinum Elite - continental breakfast at the Amuse restaurant in the lobby. Breakfast honestly was disappointing and the coffee was not good. Front desk service was a disappointment and the women didn’t seem helpful. Every time I came down to ask for something I was made to feel like I was bothering them. My room was upgraded which I appreciated but the mirror was dirty and the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling. The faucet in the sink also had no hot water. The other complaint in room 1057 was the placement of the TV in relation to the bed. It just wasn’t comfortable watching tv from where the bed was. No sofa just an uncomfortable chair to sit on while watching tv.
I booked a double room here for a wedding I was a part of. When I arrived at the hotel I was shocked to find that my double room was switched to a single with no mention of the change at the front desk. Being as tired as I was my friend and I decided to just share the bed when we discovered the second problem. The air conditioning would not work and the heat had been blasting well before we arrived. Normally I would go down to the front desk to complain but I was still exhausted having had to carry multiple coolers and my luggage well past midnight.I only got about 4 hours of comfortable sleep between trying to cool down with a cold shower. In the morning I learned that we werent the only members of the wedding party to deal with this. Someone else was given a room with no AC but went down to ask for a room change. They got it a new room but then another member of the wedding was given their original room! I expect a level of quality at this hotel that I did not receive and couldnt im my right mind recommend staying here
I’ve stayed at this hotel many times before prior to the pandemic and always found it quite lovely, EXCEPT this most recent stay. There is no housekeeping unless you’ve scheduled it in advance which is understandable given covid, however, was not informed of that until I asked on the 3rd day of my stay. The towels were dirty and while I received new towels within the hour, I’m still waiting for the wash clothes I’ve still not yet received, 4 days later. The furniture needs a thorough cleaning as there was a fine layer of dust over everything. The valet is quite sub par as we received no assistance with our luggage and experienced excessive delays when we requested our vehicle well in advance. I’m not usually one to complain, but this stay was not what I expected and I most likely will not stay nor recommend anyone staying at this hotel when visiting Philadelphia.
Not a 4 star hotel. Paid over 300 for a suite with a “view” and the picture advertised is a view of city hall. The only view you get is to the atrium/courtyard where you can see other tenants getting dressed. Bathroom had a funky smell, one of the towels were stained, rips in the bedsheets, some weird hole in the nightstand with random trash inside, rugs didn’t look vacuumed, bathroom sink had weird crumbs, I can go on and on. That’s stuff I excepted out of the Econo Lodge. Only positive thing was the super nice bartender downstairs.
I did not appreciate the customer service or lack there of. Nothing was cleaned for us like we had requested. It took three attempts to get fresh towels. I understand that it is a pandemic time but come on! There was food in the common areas for the duration of our stay. I should not have to be cleaning up after your employees because they cannot be bothered by picking things up and placing it in the trash. The front desk did not answer our call for car to be brought to us. I had to walk down and wait for them. They said they would have a a manager call me. That has yet to happen. I do not recommend this establishment. Go somewhere else.
As a Gold Elite status on Marriott bonvoy, this has been a very disappointing experience.First night, no Air Conditioning at all. It was 85 degree that night and I didn’t get a lick of sleep. The front desk said they would “take care” of my first night and offered points or refund, I opted for point… Never happened. Nothing.Toilet doesn’t flush well, takes 2-3 flushes even for number 1… the door keypad falls off… and my room was at the worst location next to cleaning supply rooms, view of the alley way. Asked to change rooms because of these issues, nothing.Would not recommend. Not a 4 star hotel, more like Le’ Motel.
Zero complaints or problems! Everyone from the 2 gentlemen that met us at the car doing valet were amazing. EVERYONE at the front desk were not only helpful but very kind and courteous. We definitely felt like we were staying in a 5 star hotel and receiving 5 star treatment! We all stayed at this hotel for a wedding off site and the staff could not have been more accommodating to all of our needs and there were a lot of us! Thank you to the amazing staff and members that work at your BEAUTIFUL HOTEL!
Great location, great staff, uncomfortable bedding. Im not sure if we just got the short end of a stick, or what, but everything about this hotel was excellent except our bedding. Our room did not have a fitted sheet, nor was the sheet provided comfortable. Lifting the sheet unfortunately revealed a number of stains... Not my favorite accomodations, but you will have a very hard time trying to beat its location
The front desk staff was always friendly and very helpful. Tanika gave me a room that had a lovely view of City Hall after I commented on how beautiful it was. The housekeeping staff provided me towels and shampoo without needing to come into my room. The location was perfect for everything I wanted to do during this visit. It was walking distance to Reading Terminal Market and a lot of shopping, it was a longer walk to the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall but very easy and allowed me to see a couple of neighborhoods. Finally, it was a short walk to the Rittenhouse District where there were lovely places to eat.
We stayed here overnight after a wedding and the hotel was clean, the rooms were a nice size, and the beds comfortable. They did seem short staffed, and it was nearly impossible to get someone on the phone. In the morning they only had one person for the entire restaurant but the front desk clerk jumped in to help. We felt bad for both employees who were trying to do the jobs of several people.
My husband and I had an amazing time during our stay. We stayed here during our wedding in 2019 and knew it would be the perfect place to celebrate my 30th since I couldn’t be with friends and family. Excellent service, staff, and cleanliness. We stayed in one of the suites with a beautiful view. The only thing that wasn’t ideal was that there was no coffee machine (though they offered it downstairs in the lobby) and the fridge was extremely small so we couldn’t fit our containers from dinner in there. Definitely will stay again and we loved it overall!
Stayed at this hotel last week (for the entire week) for a business trip and had the worst experience. Aside from check in (with Jackie) who was AMAZING - my stay was horrible. I had NO housekeeping the entire week and that is simply unacceptable. If I wanted motel service, I would have stayed at a Motel. I called every single day requesting housekeeping, as I was out of towels, room needed cleaning, trash piling up, etc. - Was told they were short staffed - UNACCEPTABLE FOR THE PRICE PAID PER NIGHT.What hotel doesnt have house keeping?!Ran into someone at the bar, we got to chatting and she experienced the same thing and shared the very same sentiments.Simply put, I will NEVER patronize this hotel again.
A must stay in Philadelphia. Best hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I travel 250 times a year and Le Meridien was is a cut above. I can’t thank the staff enough from valet to housekeeping. Never felt so special. Thank you Le Meridien for making my 36 and outstanding experience.
It is a good hotel. If someone could make sure that if you are not going to give maid service daily that you make sure there are clean towels and face cloths in the room for the amount of time that the guest are staying. Also we did not have a flat sheet on our bed. Still a good hotel and enjoyed our stay.
Overall this stay was the worst Marriott I’ve ever stayed at by a landslide. We had to move rooms due to dirty sheets with stains and no fitted sheet and trash in the room from previous guests, the next room we moved to had blood stains and other gross mystery stains on the sheets. That room was also a room with two doubles rather than the king we booked because they were sold out of kings which wasn’t ideal for a couple at all and that we had to move because the room clearly wasn’t cleaned from the guest before us made it worse. The front desk staff wasn’t at the desk when we went down to discuss and had to wait, the ice maker was broken on our floor, there was a broken elevator when we arrived, and overall the cleanliness was terrible. And the worst of it was the GM repeatedly emails guests asking for feedback and then when given the feedback he didnt respond! I have never done a negative hotel survey before but the cleanliness and then lack of communication from the hotel was terrible especially for a Marriott property. I would like to add the houseman was wonderful and polite, the girl who checked us in was very friendly and the valet was great! I hate to only say negatives but this hotel is a 1/10 due to being incredibly dirty and the management not responding to guest concerns after asking for feedback! Not at all what I have experienced in 6+ years of traveling for work which is were primarily Marriotts, this property is not up to the Marriott standards and I really hope this is addressed because the location is fantastic!
Great location. Due to COVID the hotel does not clean the room daily. We arrived very late (2:30am) but didn’t have linens for the third person in the room. Also not enough towels. Took over 30 minutes to get extra towels, sheets and pillows. If there is going to be three people in a suite, they should have the necessary items especially if they don’t provide housekeeping services after hours and no cleaning between nights.
As an elite rewards member I would have liked to see some appreciation for choosing this property. Low floor, small room, terrible view was not what I expected. Having simple things like to and sink working properly are expectations and not something I should have multiple issues with. And lastly, having a gym on property is nice but when half the equipment is missing like dumbbell sets with only half the weights, it becomes a useless amenity.
Great hotel in the center of the city. Easy to get to from driving and valet is great. Hotel is right across from Love Park. Room was clean and the bed was like a big cloud. Pillows are little to soft, Id recommend bring your own if you like it firm. No breakfast due to covid, but the bar was open to grab a drink. Would stay again.
No hot water out of vanity and none in shower one of the days! Food was awful, no fresh fruit that wasn’t mushy! Coffee was like warm! Gym is an utter joke, not even worth having one!! Steps to get into entrance so be prepared to carry bags up the stairs, no ramp!! Will never stay there again!
The check-in process was smooth from the time that I used valet parking to when I got my room keys. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was delicious! The Le Mèridien will now be my go-to hotel whenever Im visiting Philadelphia. The room was also very nice and clean!
Given the Fact that the hotel has a different Ambiance very unique yet .Called the staff to ask for a coffee cup waited an hour no one did arrive so I have to go downs stairs , one of the staff said someone just come up and bring your cups went back to my room and cups wasn’t there ??? Really??Watch out for the Carpets it has stains and I hope they’re not charging people regarding about that .Very dustyBed uncomfortable
One of the friendliest and well kept big city hotels Ive stayed in. The train is just around the corner , so getting from the airport to the hotel is a direct and easy ride.Good location, clean sanitized rooms. Lobby is a fun place to gather . Morning Coffee is the Very Best in the City .What sets this property apart from all others , is its Staff. They exemplify what a hospitality staff should be. Courteous, Warm, Welcoming ,Helpful but most of all Happy .
My daughter and I stayed here while she was touring Temple University. The hotel room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. 13th Street is just a quick walk, as well as the Reading Street Terminal which is a foodie heaven. We requested a late checkout and the hotel staff accommodated our requests. Would be nice to visit the hotel bar during non-pandemic times!
Stayed at the hotel during my birthday weekend and had a great time in the city. The check-in staff were polite, professional, and gave suggestions on where to visit on South Street. The maintenance service was lacking to say the least. Upon arrival, I noticed there two irons, but no ironing board. Later in the trip, the toilet became clogged, submitted a request, and when the technician came to the room, he asked if I wanted to handle it and gave me a plunger. Not my idea of excellent customer service.
Left feeling disappointed, unamused, and not necessarily safe. We showed up 2 hours after the standard check in time. Hoping that our room would be ready. To find out, in fact it was not but were offered another room with a double bed. Mind you, I’m 6’6” and a single double bed to share with my fiancé was less than grand considering we had booked for a King deluxe room. We dealt with that inconvenience. They did however have a “cleaned” room sticker which was reassuring but dwindled quickly after seeing the black marks on the bed linens and the slightly less than “clean” bathroom. After unpacking our belongings we hear the door opening. To our amusement, they gave our now lived in room to another couple. Which there goes my piece of mind of wanting to leave and explore for the evening. Thinking this could happen again since it shouldn’t have in the first place. Basically showing our room was given away and we seemingly got this couples room now. They also false advertise their valet services. The sign out front says $48 overnight valet parking. I was in fact charged $60 for the service and was an over charge considering the driver(s) spilled my coffee all over the floor of my car and left it for me to clean up the next day. They also bottomed out my SUV during the visit and smashed the undercover. Unfortunately the stay was not worth the money whatsoever and the staff truly didn’t seem to have much of a care other than the need to clock out for the evening. The only reason it got 2 stars and not 1 was the atmosphere. It looked nice, provided the higher end feel I was looking for and that’s all the smoke and mirrors it got.
Awesome facility in the heart of Center City Philadelphia with ease of access to many attractions and entertainment. Although much of your time is spent experiencing your surrounding, there is minimal time at the hotel. With that said, the basics are essential. A room tv that did not work, no follow up by staff regarding a commitment and no access to the building after hours proved an overall negative experience. If the basic are important to you, may want to consider an alternate location.
In my five-night stay, I had three issues.1. In my room I found a kids band-aid on the floor on day one and I left it there to see if they would vacuum I finally picked it up the night before I left so please vacuum the room more often.2. I came down for breakfast one day and ordered oatmeal thinking that would be fast since it was already prepared. I waited fifteen minutes before finally leaving. I dont have all day.3. Please have maid service replace the soaps when used I ran out of shampoo and liquid soap even when there was nothing in the bathroom they didnt get the hint. Are you conserving toiletries? The overall property is fantastic you just need some additional staff training.
My Stay was a good one. The staff was friendly and the manager accommodated me for my inconvenience of a dusty room. The room had been cleaned for COVID but it appeared no one had been there in a while to dust things. There was a church service that took place outside my room on Sunday morning so it woke me up and the walls were thin in my connecting room so I was able to hear the couples conversations as well. Nonetheless, I did enjoy my stay and I would definitely go back.
The room was plain for the amount of money per night. No microwave and shower curtain dirty in bathroom. I was told one price was being placed on hold on my card but that was a lie. Being charge for phone and wifi without even asking for those services. Parking price said $32 a night but $60 was on the bill. Ask questions and dont assume associates are being honest and informative!
Nice-ish with friendly staff that tries hard, for the most part. Flawed but plenty of potential and seems to be going in the right direction. The framework is there to be a legit 4* hotel.Clean room, good hot water and h2o pressure in small shower, decent sized bathroom, not enough towels but more brought promptly upon request. Was there last year & it appears bathrooms have gotten a light refresh. Slammy neighbor doors, clean hallways, pretty good elevators. Some rooms have no exterior view, with windows (none of which appear to open) that overlook an indoor courtyard. My room didnt have a fridge. Still limited covid-style services in mid-July 21
We loved our stay here, although it was too short! We were only in town for a night and are so glad we picked Le Méridien! The hotel is clean. Rooms are great with comfortable beds. The hotel staff also very friendly and professional. Wed definitely stay here again! If we had to critique anything, it would be valet. The afternoon we arrived, the valet was managed by an older (bald) gentleman - (I didnt catch his name but hope the hotel staff will know who Im referring to because...)He was incredible. He greeted us the moment we pulled up to check in. So on top of everything especially in the middle of the afternoon when it seemed so busy! When we came back outside for our vehicle later, he recognized us and addressed us by name. How he remembers everyones names os beyond me. But he was amazing. And even though we had a short wait, his attentiveness and service made up for all of that. The next morning, however, we were checking out and had called for our vehicle. We were told 20 minutes so we took our time to come downstairs. When we arrived outside, there were 2 other parties waiting, and the valet attendant didnt acknowledge us to make sure our car was in the queue. As we waited, we noticed another guest say they had waited for more than 30 min and asked for his keys to go get the car himself. When the attendant opened the key locker, we saw that our keys hadnt been pulled yet. Finally, we asked him about our car and it was then that he took the keys and told us our car was next. We proceeded to wait for another 15 min or so. And then he pulled up with our car. While we were impressed by the first valet attendant, we werent on the morning we were leaving. The service on the first afternoon was amazing despite it being busy while the service the next morning was lacking during a not-so-busy time.
In all my years of travel and hotel stays, many in high-end Luxury properties, I have never come across a more experienced and capable front desk manager. He did so many jobs, I assume due to staffing shortages, that he seemed to practically live in the hotel, he was always there, happy to help with anything. If you go to Philly I recommend the Le Meridien
I do not in any way whatsoever recommend anyone to stay at this location, at least until they figure out some sort of service standards and/or service recovery. The location is quite optimal for those wanting to enjoy walking and sightseeing in the City Hall area. It is positioned close to the convention center and probably made a perfect choice for guests attending main events there, but . . . since all convention business has totally dried up, they now rely on their hotel being the destination and making sure the level of service makes the desired impression for guests to enjoy themselves, return, and tell others about their satisfaction. That is where this Le Meridien is extremely lacking in a big way - bordering on Pathetic.Online advance check-in told me Youre All Set for a specific time. The front desk seemed to have a challenge even finding me in the system and then with no apology advised the stated time for arrival was hours later. For a little over an hour there was an individual whod taken residence in the restroom located behind the bar for washing some of his clothing in the sink. The door was unlocked, but I quickly exited after opening it. I counted a total of 15 guests who did the same thing Id done. I know for a fact the front desk was informed of this situation, but nothing was done to remedy it.I returned at the official time, and there was seemingly another challenge quickly finding my reservation. I have online confirmation, print confirmation, and my card has already been pre-charged. Again, no apologies. The sticker/seal on the room door indicating all was Clean was a nice touch, and appreciated. My fifth floor room assignment had a direct view of several tents and blankets of those sleeping immediately across the street. After an early flight and some walking around the city, I decided Id get some rest before additional evening activities. As soon as you recline on the bed, you find yourself starting a slow roll toward the center, making it an easy question of how old are those mattresses. The bathroom toiletries are very nice, but it was odd to have no washcloths. None. Zero. I carry one with me when traveling, so I made do for arrival day. As others have already mentioned, the rooms are not very protected to sounds from the hallway and exterior traffic. A previous guest had adjusted the TV settings to be used as a screen for their laptop or mobile device, creating an initial challenge with checking standard broadcasts. A visit to the manufacturers web site solved that. Also, the wifi/internet access here is met with numerous error messages and warnings about security certificates. A few guests in the lobby were overheard having the same challenge.Early the next morning, I went to the front desk and requested they provide one single solitary washcloth to my room by 1:00pm (giving them five hours of the room being vacant and following their stated safety protocols). Not too surprisingly, there was nothing delivered. As I was completing check-out I asked if they still showed my request being made earlier. With no apology, I was simply asked if Id like them to send another request to housekeeping. I was checking out. There was no Thank you for your stay or anything as I exited. At no time did I feel valued as a guest at this location. They provided the level of service they chose, and I provide the level of honest review that I choose. Thats how it works.
Where do I start? I had the opportunity to stay at the Le Meridian Philadelphia twice in one month for business. August 10-12 and August 25-27,2021. When I first arrived on August 10,2021, the guy at the valet booth just stood there and looked at me, instead of asking how he could help me, so I had to approach him; no one asked or helped me with my luggage. The receptionist was excellent, but Amuse restaurant was closed, the bar was open, but you couldnt order food. The next day I needed my car for work;the valet took over 45min to bring me my car, making me late for my business meeting. I didnt have enough towels; housekeeping never came to the room to give new sheets nor towels after asking for them more than once; I didnt have a trash can in the bathroom, refrigerator, nor microwave, there were stains on the carpet, and I could go on and on. I love the location, and I wanted this hotel to be my go-to hotel while traveling for in Philadelphia, but so far, this is not a four-star hotel, and I will not be back! @mrtoldyamother
Positive: Location, staff, rooms with fabulous view. Negative: Hated valley parking! Called front desk 10 min before left the room, came downstairs and had to wait another 30 min for the car. Was late for the wedding! When I were checking out, Sunday morning, another 40 min wait for the car! Just terrible!
The hotel did not disclose that it was not providing housekeeping services. For four days their was no service. Towels and linen were were threadbare and in a very poor state. Requests for additional towels and toiletries were met, in each instance the quality of the linen became progressively worse. On my first night I had to have the sheets and comforter changed as they were filled with nasty stains and I strongly suspect that they were not changed subsequent to the previous guests.. The entrance and the small sitting area off of the lobby bar were dim lit and had a dirty and unkept feel. A worn and dirty wet floor sign remained in place for my full 4 days at the top of the stair to the central lobby with small bits of garbage and a dirty and sorely in need of vacuming walk off mat. Despite the foregoing the property appeared to be doing a brisk trade. The standards of cleanliness were the absolute worse I would have encountered in years of long haul travel. This property can by no means promote itself as clean and safe by way of efforts taken to mitigate against Covid. Stickers proclaiming compliance and enhanced cleaning standards bore no semblance to what was actually practised. By no measure can this property pass any basic cleaning adherence much less supposed and advertized enhanced cleaning protocols. Nasty, unkept and dirty! The valet attendant on Saturday morning was really helpful as was the front desk attendant who assisted on check in and helped with other request.Would not recommend!
If I would’ve known about the construction I would’ve never booked. It’s so small yet lyft constantly have issues The room was decent. You can hear the entire hotel through those doors. Never saw house keeping the days I stayed. & I’m assuming they just totally forgot about my deposit. I had to contact someone to get it back weeks later.
Hotel location is perfect, though it seems like an outdated property with a serious lack in housekeeping / customer service. Original room had chewed gum on the floor, overflowing trash cans, broken coffee maker & an unmade bed with crumpled sheets. Took about 15 minutes for employee to bring up key to a new room, with no apology offered. With the number of Marriott properties in the city, I would not recommend staying here.
The elevator was highly defective. We have a 18 month old whom stuck his arm in the door as it was shutting and the door did not stop. My mother had to hold the door from crushing his arm as I pushed the release button several times... when I told the front desk associate she didnt seem suprised.... on top of that our phone to call the front desk never went through. We had to wait at least 20 minutes for valet parking and they managed to lose are car upon departure.... very unhappy with this Marriott partner....unsafe and inconvenient.
Thank you so much to Le Meridien Philadelphia! My fiancé and I stayed for our mini Valentines getaway and it was nothing short of beautiful. We had a late dinner and werent able to check in until later in the evening, but the staff was very understanding. We were not expecting the price of parking, as it was not previously stated or explained that it was valet only, but we werent too concerned because the staff were so pleasant. During our stay there was a bad snow storm, and the staff was very accommodating. They allowed us to check out a little later, allowing us to wait for the streets to be cleared safely before leaving back to our state. My fiancé and I are both law enforcement officers and very much so appreciated the service. We cant wait until were able to stay again.
We had an amazing stay - the staff was very accommodating and kind. The hotel took COVID precautions very seriously and we felt really safe. It was our first time staying in Philadelphia and they gave us a list of popular attractions and restaurants, which we really enjoyed. Overall, we would give the hotel a 10/10 and look forward to our next stay.
So...it is not the typical Marriott. They do not have microwaves or a small refrigerator. Paid for a queen only to find out they do not have queens only doubles. My double sagged in the middle. Wifi is not free. Our in-room phone did not work. Valet parking is 48.00 + tax a night only to pay $60 a night with no explanation on price breakdown when asked. Layout of the floor have something to be desired. Ice machine are not accommodating either. My daughter and I have stay at MANY Marriotts and this was the poorest we have ever seen. Do not recommend it. Price was outrageous!
Positive: The location is wonderful. The staff did as well as possible, given the condition of the room Negative: The room clearly had not been used for a long time. I noticed a thick layer of dust on the desk and in increments, realized that the refrigerator had been removed there were no cups, glasses, ice bucket ,tissues The desk corrected it after 3 requests.
The staff was attentive and professional. There was an issue with building access in the evening when the ADA entrance (shared with an adjacent building) was locked and inaccessible. The hotel was clean and quiet. I recommend it to anyone needing to be in the heart of downtown Philadelphia.
The hotel was a beautiful hotel in a nice area. Upon arrival, I introduced myself to staff, with minimal conversation. There was no sense of welcome to the hotel. The bartender was rude and impatient. I was unable to check out as there was no one at the front desk. I most likely will not return.
We get into our room, there’s blood stains on our comforter. No bottom sheet. Kid comes back with a comforter cover which we put on ourselves. Gives us another comforter cover for a sheet... Kind of shocked that a hotel like this doesn’t have a fridge in the rooms. There was a very annoying noise coming from the hallway right out side our door. Windows in the room do not open so the room is very dry and uncomfortable. Overall the staff were very nice only reason why I’m giving two stars. If you’re in between two hotels go with the other one.
My colleagues and I stayed here for a convention event and appreciated how helpful and friendly the staff were. The lobby had an area map we could take with us but the staff also provided local insight. A two-minute walk from the Convention Center made this location a great choice. Staff support made this a great experience.
Dirty rooms, stained towels, slow valet, rude staff (once you can finally receive help). I’m sure this was once a great hotel, as some of the features are beautiful. Unfortunately it is very clear that this hotel is poorly managed as furniture is ripped and not taken care of.
Spent a Saturday night here with the Visit Philly package that came with free valet parking and a late check-out. I confirmed both of these accommodations two days prior to check in and at the front desk upon arrival. All was good for now: room was clean and comfortable, valet parking was a breeze, etc.Everything was fine until we came back after noon on Sunday to find that our keys did not work with the elevator. I explained the situation to the front desk associate, who then told me that my late check out information was not found after searching. The keys were updated and we were told they would work until 4p. We proceed up the elevator but the keys do not work to open the door. I had to walk back down to the lobby and have the associate escort us to the room and use their employee key to let us in. Someone was very negligent when it came to the details of my reservation. But overall, the Le Méridien is a beautiful hotel in the heart of the city
I was visiting Le Meridien to visit my son for a college event. I brought my 25 pound dog with me. The hotel is beautiful and I love the decor. The hotel is very comfortable and nice and clean. I loved staying there. My dog was welcomed and her staying with me was not an issue at all (except that I had to walk several blocks to find a patch of grass for her to go to the bathroom!! lol) Service at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. This is definitely where I would look to stay the next time I visit Philly.
This hotel is located right in Center City Philadelphia, great location. The hotel staff were very friendly, informative, & welcoming. The hotel itself was very modern & clean, I love the decor of the room. And let’s not mention the glass shower.. I will recommend this hotel to anyone! P.S. There is a restaurant located inside the hotel, and a diner next door. The food at the diner was great and very affordable.
Great experience staying at Le Meridian. They offer all the luxuries youd expect from a high-quality hotel. The staff are very kind, friendly and accommodating. The bar and food are very good for a hotel in the middle of a restaurant-popping city. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. One uniquely special feature of this hotel is the view it provides of Philly. I highly recommend this place and will return again someday.
Reported a dent in my rental car when returned by valet. No one ever responded or assisted me with the claims process. Zero customer service in this regard. Still waiting for a response after being bounced around and elevated to supervisor. Elevated t o property manager. Not hopeful of ever hearing from anyone. Will never stay at this location again.
Great location but I had a horrible view and they wouldnt offer an improvement. Room had problems (soft mattress, broken hair dryer, dead batteries in remote, keys kept demagnitizing). Front desk staff, concierge and valet were not at all helpful and seem annoyed by any questions. Not a very welcoming place.
My work requires me to visit Philly once a month and I choose the Le Meridien each time. From the valet staff, to the front desk team, and to the general manager, this hotel is top notch. I recommend for business or personal stays. Wilson, the GM, is always around and available to address any concerns. They make me feel like I’m the most important guest they haves every month. The location is also perfect for access to major highways, local tourist spots, and shopping on Walnut Street.
Positive: The location was great. Negative: My boyfriend tried to find something to drink¿ a vending machine doesn¿t exist here. And when he asked the staff if they had a bottle of water or could grab a soda or something from the very LARGE lobby bar, they were pretty rude to him and did not
My daughter was married Sept 5, 2020, because of COVID we had to wait to Sept 5, 2021, to have the reception. Since we are from “out of town” this made our organizational task very difficult. We found the kind and caring service from all the people at Le Meridien to be extraordinary. This is from the General Manager, Wilson Bravo, who personally helped us with some challenging group reservations, to the fine Director of the Front Office, Jacqueline Hillhouse, who was so kind it seemed like she “adopted” our family. The service was as fine as the Ritz Carlton we last experienced. They obviously know the “hospitality” business and they also demonstratively care.
Who you surround yourself with, is as important to your health as what you eat and what you do with you body. These people are amazing! Any question, concern, etc that I had, they were ready, willing, able to either offer an answer or checkin with refer me to someone who could. These people are not just doing their jobs, they take care of your life. I felt cared for and the hotel felt safe to me. I never ever valet my car, though I was glad I did--they took outstanding care of my car and no funny business with it. If you want a place where you can walk to/from central areas, the train station, and also a place where you will be cared for, I would recommend Le Meridien. The room was great and they offered the amenities I needed. I slept the best I have slept in like months. Happy Hour was not my favorite. They need to improve their wine list and their app offerings on that Happy Hour list, I eat healthy and dont eat meat and I didnt love the one red wine they offered. Otherwise, it is a good vibe. I mean who doesnt love a glowing fireplace
It was an average nights stay but totally not worth the price. Service was great but the room itself was not what I paid for. I bought the executive room that included tickets to local attractions. The tickets that were included were a nice bundle. However, as per the attached picture, the room was lacking. Multiple furniture had water stains. The worst was the shower. As shown in the pictures, the water always leaks over onto the bathroom floor no matter how hard we tried to avoid blocking the drain. Overall, I would say this is definitely a 3 star hotel. Probably wont be back though
Ok, so. The hotel itself is a cool place. The room was decent, except the tv was broken. Honestly would give a better review if it were just based off of that.HOWEVER. Stayed here Valentines weekend (checked in 2/13). Bought a package ahead of time that included valet.. I was personally told on the phone it would cover TWO cars.Got there, valet was clearly inundated and acted mad that I was even there for valet.Later on, tried going out and could not even get to an uber because the sidewalk on their property was straight ice out front of the hotel. The guys working at the door just stared and laughed and offered no help.Fast forward to check out. All of a sudden, our one car was not covered under free valet, after we were assured that our two cars would be.I will never be returning. A decent looking room with a broken tv and less than superb customer service wasnt worth the price... there are far better options in center city.
The overhead lights did not work in one of our rooms, the bathroom fan did not work in the other room. A dirty cleaning rag was left by the cleaning staff in our room. The bottom sheets of both beds were not secured and thus not well made. Mirrors in both rooms were dirty. Not up to Meridien standards.
Lack of towels, no coffee cups or coffee on room. Refrigerator was unplugged and didnt work. The TV was disconnected. When we called down to ask for towels and coffee it never arrived. It took two calls to the desk to get service. Next time Im in town Ill stay at the Aloft.
*HOTEL BLOCK FOR OUR WEDDING DAY*We ran into a few glitches during the two-year planning process leading up to our big day but when our wedding weekend finally came, Le Meridien treated us like royalty! When we were originally brought on a tour of the newly renovated rooms, the staff member that brought us through told us the best floors to stay on and the best rooms to stay in so when we booked our hotel block, we requested those rooms and they obliged! We dropped off the gift bags for our guests the day before they were due to arrive. Our calligrapher addressed them for us because we had different things in different bags. We let the staff know and they gladly handed each guest their specific bag without any complaints. In addition to doing a first look with my Dad, I wanted to do a first look with my bridesmaids as well. No one had seen my dress before our wedding day aside from my Mom. My wedding gown is GINORMOUS and could not be hidden in a closet so I spoke to a manager ahead of our wedding day to see if I could put it in the room my Dad would be staying in the following day this way no one would see it. They worked something out and on the day we arrived, a staff member assured me that he would be locking it in the managers office. Think its crazy that I let it out of my sight? Probably a little but I took the risk and it went off without a hitch! He helped hide it from my husband that was already there and everyone else that was soon to arrive the next day.The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. We were given the rooms we were promised and were put on separate floors. We both had a nice view of the city. There was plenty of space for hair and makeup to set up on the morning of our wedding. Theres a wall that provides a nice, natural divide. Theres plenty of light and the room photographs nicely. As more people in our bridal party started to arrive the morning of our wedding, the staff helped to get all of them into their rooms early so they would be all set prior to leaving for the ceremony. They provided clear signage to guide our guests to the trolley at the appropriate times to ensure they would arrive at our reception on time. They made accommodations for my sister-in-law when she had a travel emergency trying to get to Philly from Texas. We received special rates because of the amount of rooms we booked which was nice. They told us the bartenders get excited when they have wedding parties. The bartender didnt seem very excited but he wasnt about to mess up my wedding day vibes. lol. They completely flipped the rooms on our wedding day once we left for the ceremony so they were brand new upon our return; my husband switched to my suite and my Mom went down to his.The morning of our brunch, the Study was set up with flowers from our wedding reception which looked very nice. There were attendants keeping track of our guests. The food was delicious, they made sure everything stayed full and our guests enjoyed mingling. When the room began to overflow, they set up extra tables just outside of the Study.Le Meridien has a cool, modern vibe with a gorgeous view of City Hall that perfectly suits my husband and I and it was the PERFECT choice of hotels for our room block!Everything was seamless as we checked out. They gave us a little bit later of a checkout time. The staff was extremely kind to my husband, my Mom and I. They chatted with us about the wedding and they helped us load everything into our cars when it was time for our departure. The staff truly went above and beyond to ensure that our wedding weekend was perfect and we can not thank them enough.
The hotel was decorated beautifully and all the staff were very nice. The complaints I have are mainly about the room itself. The toilet didnt flush well. It needed to be flushed multiple times just to rid of toilet paper. The shower light was out and the fan in the bathroom didnt work. The pillows were a bit squishy and your head sunk in to the point where they were virtually flat. The bed was comfortable and sheets were clean. The food and other amenities were pricey, but from what I heard from my friend who also stayed, was worth the money. This hotel is close to different music venues and other tourist attractions. There are parking garages close by that are cheaper than the outrageous price of the hotel parking.
Friendly staff but they dont respond to Marriott App chat at all. And I got no respond when I tried to call the front desk either. The worse thing is probably the bed...The bed has lost the structure and caved in the middle section. I have traveled extensively for business, and this is the first time ever that I found a bed that I cant sleep on. Two nights on this bed was pretty painful. The upgraded room is big, and weird. I feel the furniture like a coffee table is missing. It is not very functional when you have to do take out for most of the meals.
Our stay was average, but nothing special. I felt like they were cutting back blaming it on Covid. It was a good value for the price, but nothing special at the end of the day. Id think twice about staying there again. Completing this survey made me rethink where id book my stay on a future trip.
We called in advance of our visit requesting a refrigerator additional towels and pillows.Upon arrival we recieved no pillows and the fridge was no where to be foundWe went to the desk and they said they did not receive our call and there are in no refrigerators. We were checking in around 11am.Found the story unbelievable.Their customer service at the property is a zeroI recieved better service at Days Inn here in Philadelphia,Pa.I visit often and will inform my friends to STAY AWAY from this property.Certainly not indicative of Marriot quality,as I am a member and stay in many of their properties
Sadly, a very bad experience. Paid for a suite room with a view. Was put in a regular room. Told the front desk, she was frustrated with me even though I was being pleasant and told me she thinks they are sold out of suites even though I have an email confirmation. Fridge didnt work and toilet had issues flushing. There are too many hotels to give this location another chance.
Although we were placed in the smallest room available, it was designed well, had an exterior view and was extremely quiet. Our family members had a much larger room that suited them well. Location is great for the holiday times, across from the Christmas Village. We walked to all attractions. Pet friendly. The pup was incredibly comfortable and enjoyed the grass areas a block away. Its my preferred hotel when in town.
Nice hotel, clean and looks good. There was a mix up with the room, we expected two beds and got one. They provided a roll away bed that was impressively comfortable and gave us a discount on the night. As we checked out we found they also charged us for parking. So a few mistakes but the staff was very good about fixing them and were very friendly as well.
The room was as advertised. Nothing to write home about. It was dressed up in a few areas to appear “new”. Upon entrance it was easy to see this hotel was tired overall with a coat of paint here and there to jazz it up. I was disappointed to learn upon arrival both the restaurant and bar were closed permanently. Would have been nice to know that prior to booking. The website still advertises a menu. There were bags of soiled linens and bags of trash in the hall outside my neighbors door when I checked in. They were still there when I checked out in the AM. I’ve stayed at lesser category hotels that were much nicer. Centrally located in city made it attractive.
Shortage of (good) staff. Lobby cramped. Great bar, but poor food. Buffet breakfast cold / hot offering unappetizing. Cold (fruits pastries etc) were good. Location is really hit and miss. There are homeless people EVERYWHERE in Philly which understandably makes it difficult, hotel is next to City Hall which you’d think would be nice. But it’s not good at all after dark. Not easy to get into the hotel if you’re arriving on foot or by car. Elevator to the side is pretty useless and automatic doors is an issue and staff don’t seem interested in helping much. We had bags, a 2 year old and my wife was 38 weeks pregnant. Basically no attention throughout our stay.Rooms are nice enough. Recently renovated it would seem and the layout of the hotel / rooms and floors seemed nicely arranged.Forget breakfast as I said. Unless it’s free, forget it. You will be disappointed if you’re paying for it. Service is mixed, most of the staff clearly don’t want to be there but the odd one or two were excellent. Overall - stay at the Ritz Carlton across the road if you can.
The room was quite nice, and the temperature controls were super responsive. I prefer a very firm mattress, but this was soft and supportive. Overall very reasonable. The rate was good for center City. We had a bit of a delay with room keeping on check-in at 5pm but they were kind and accommodating. Will give serious consideration to starting again when in town
There were a couple things that I wasn’t too pleased with staying here. The sink does not drain properly and the water stayed in it for a very long. The last night of my stay the staff were horrible, I could’ve received better help than I was given.. completely dissatisfied and disappointed in their service that night.. other than those things, the location is perfect, the room was pretty nice.
Everything was great from check-in to our super extended late check-out! The staff were very helpful and on top of the game! The room is a bit dark and the bathroom extremely bright, but overall the room was great! Comfy bed! Good size! (The TV was to the left of the bed, so had we watched tv, we would have had to lay on our sides or across the bed, so that was strange). The shower is small, but the shower itself was great. Would stay here again!
It’s a beautiful hotel with a courteous staff. Unfortunately, the infrastructure such as the doors to the room need maintenance. They also need to be more responsive to noise complaints during quiet hours since the building is clearly older and doesn’t have enough noise blocking between rooms.
We really enjoyed our stay at the newly renovated Meridien - I havent been here for years. The experience was first class - from soup to nuts. Katie, the front desk manager, was incredibly lovely and helpful in checking us in and ensuring that we got the gold star upgrade to a lovely suite. It was brand sparkling new and I couldnt have asked for anything else. The bed was very comfortable and the new bathroom was a delight. We enjoyed a delicious room service dinner. I would definitely stay here again. All of the staff was as nice as could be.
Besides the fact that rooms were not furnished with expected amenities such as coffee and refrigerators as advertised, the bathroom floor was sticky and my friend had a midnight knocking on her door that said”guest services” while she’d not ordered anything. She called the front desk and after MANY rings they finally answered and said they’d send security but they never did!!!! Nor was there a notice of this frightening event at the front desk the next days!!! Very poor security!!!!!!
I stayed here for my daughters high school graduation which was being held a few blocks away. The staff here was absolutely amazing!!! They went above and beyond for me. I asked a favor of them, to decorate my daughters room which they jumped at the opportunity. Thank you staff!!!
The restaurant in the lobby was unable to provide quality service and decent food. Not the staffs fault. The room adjacent to ours had either a bachelor party or people generally drunk and disorderly. We called the front desk twice to ask them to address the 2-3AM noise. By 4AM, things finally quieted (or they passed out).Id stay here again but not unless the restaurant is fully operational and staffed, and we are roomed far from guests whove never been in public.
Im still waiting to hear for my problems to be fixed, most egregious of which was I was charged 3x for my room -- each time a different price than the receipt I received via email. I also had to keep asking for a refrigerator and when I tried to get breakfast in the AM, there was one staff member who was rolling napkins and said Im busy.
We had an amazing stay at Le Meridien. Brian, who checked us in, was amazing and went above and beyond giving us a bottle of wine and complimentary breakfast to celebrate my fiances birthday, which we really appreciated! The architecture of the building is beautiful and our room was clean and very nicely decorated. This was a great place to stay to celebrate my fiances birthday! I would definitely recommend staying here!
My first impressions of Le Meridien Philadelphia was that the hotel was clean, grand and stylish. The lobby was modern and on the way to my room I walked past the bar where people were clearly having a relaxed and good time. The room too, was clean, spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was nice with a full shower and large counter space. However, I encountered a couple of issues during my stay - one, at check in where a staff error sent me to the wrong room, which staff resolved quickly and offered a complimentary breakfast to compensate. Secondly, the wifi was so slow it was unable to be used and at certain points I was unable to even log in from my room, unless I was in a public area.
The hotel is located right next to city hall within walking distance of a large number of Phillys great destinations (the art musuem, city hall, reading terminal market, great restaurants and Chinatown!). A short 15 min drive from the airport and youre there as well. There is valet parking for those of you driving, but be wary of the cost ($50 per day!!!!). However, the valets are friendly and efficient. The hotel itself looks like its located in a historic building (which is not a surprise for the northeast). The front desk check-in process was fairly quick (I got there late so only 1 staff was on-hand causing some minor delays). The bar also seemed to close early, and didnt seem very spacious/have a large selection. The room itself was decently sized and decorated although the lights took a while to get used to. Bathroom was decently sized as well with a large walk-in shower (except mine leaked and engineering enver fixed it even after I requested a fix). Bath products were decent, better than the average hotel brand. The biggest problems I had with the room was two-fold: No easily accessible power plugs near the bed, and my window faced an interior courtyard!Lastly, the gym is usable, but small with limited equipment. Thats something that can definitely be improved on as well in the future. Wi-fi was also a little slow, had to toggle to 4g a number of times as well.
This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in. The building interior is lovely and the amenities are very nice. The bar is amazing. Be sure to get one of the smoked cocktails. The process is a very transcendental experience. Moreover the staff is amazing. They were very nice. Additionally, they went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay. They gave us a fridge so we can keep our drinks and food cold. The one manager at the front desk Mariah gave me the best tips for things to see in the city. Just remember, your key makes the elevator work.
We celebrated my wifes 40th birthday with a night in the city. The hotel staff was welcoming upon arrival and our entire time on site. The room was updated and had a beautiful view. Bed was extremely comfortable, we didnt want to leave the next day. Bathroom was bright, modern and had great water pressure. Location was perfect for exploring City Hall, Reading Terminal Market, Convention Center, subway within walking distance, Love Park and so much more. Right in the heart of downtown. Highly recommended
This post is strictly about the bar since I did not stay here but from the start the valet was incredibly kind and asked if I preferred my vehicle out front or in the garage. When the rest of my party arrived, we found seats at the bar and ordered some drinks. The bartender was on point and made our drinks perfectly. We only stayed for 1 round and then hit up a few bars in the area but I was impressed with the atmosphere and professionalism of the hotel staff.
We were in the city for a concert and got a great room rate here so we decided to book it. The staff was pleasant and courteous in our limited interactions with them, they went out of their way to make sure I was recognized as a gold member and even provided a humidifier as I requested since hotels can be rather dry when sleeping. We had a spectacular view of City Hall, the room was a decent size and the bed was very comfortable though a little softer than I would normally prefer. If you are in the area I would definitely recommend the Le Meridian.
Several features even about this review process need improvement such as the multiple open field text boxes I have been asked to fill out. I already aired my grievances in your incorrect billing process from the first open field text. I do not feel the absolute need to completely restate that I was incorrectly charged for a restaurant expense. However, as this field seems to be the more important one as it will be posted on the Marriott website please allow me to restate and perhaps be more concise. This is the third Marriott Ive stayed at in a row where the billing and check out process was not smooth at all. I have had two instances where invoices were not emailed to me and therefore I could not match invoice to expense, delaying my normal course of business. Finally on this specific stay, a personal stay, the hotel charged me for services I never received. And yes, a minor inconvenience was that there was no shampoo in our hotel room resulting in using body wash to clean our hair and walking around the following day with dandruff in our hair; so much so we looked like we had just stepped out of a holiday snow-globe, but that is a minor housekeeping fix.Not being able to check out guests properly and provide accurate invoices to them is much more frustrating and concerning as a guest because that is my money we are spending and I dont have confidence in the current billing process at multiple of your Marriott locations.Perhaps this holiday season Marriott corporate can invest in some holiday billing & invoicing training materials for colleagues globally? Thank you for your time and have a great holiday season.
The hotel staff were absolutely amazing! They are what made my stay better and they tried their best to correct the issues that were had:I checked in on Saturday. The room I was given had a thermostat issue: the thermostat wasnt working. I thought it would correct itself so I when I woke up Sunday morning and it was so hot in there, I called the front desk. I was there for a conference so I called at 12pm. By the time I came back (6:30pm), it was still not working. The engineer (Demetrius) came in and determined it couldnt be fixed so he was able to get me moved to another room (which was bigger). I walked into the room and the air was working and so was the thermostat. I was thrilled!........until I tried to turn on the heat. I turned that thermostat up to 80 degrees and the room stayed at 67 degrees. The front desk was called and they said theyd remove one of the nights from my bill (I checked out on Wednesday) and offered to send up a portable heater, however, the portable heater never made its way to my room. I arrived to Philadelphia without a cold. I left the Le Meridien with a cold. Again, the staff here are excellent, however, I dont think Ill be returning to another Le Meridien. Working thermostats and heat dont seem to be too much of a priority for them.
Me and my party had reservations and upon arrival we asked to see the room and was told she was the only one there and couldnt show us but that was a lie. Anywho we decided to stay 1 night and not the 5 nights we reserve for. The woman told us we were gonna be charged for 1 night at $103.00 plus $200 hold but once my card was swiped I get an alert for $698.37. Hotel clerk wasnt informative about all the other things the hotel charge for like phone/wifi without request. Also bathroom shower curtain was dirty and base of tub was dirty.
Would we come back. NO. The room was small and dirty - see attached pictures. Our AC never cooled the room below 75 degrees. Red stain in the middle of carpet, who knows what is on the side of the bed. I didnt touch it! Its not that hard to dust the room, obviously it wasnt done. If they dont do the easy stuff then you know the hard stuff was skipped also. The staff for the most part very friendly and helpful. Disappointed at check in that no discussion of my benefits was talked about - pretty much just didnt feel welcomed or appreciated. Valet staff was perfect just a little bit of a wait when waiting for our vehicle. That was completely expected though.
The bedding was dirty and looked like it had not been cleaned or changed in between guests. The pillows had no pillow cases. The bathroom floor was not cleaned properly and left a sticky, filmy residue. Valet and checkin was a long process and the person checking us in was texting while checking us in.
We stayed overnight for the Philly Rock n’ Roll half marathon. The hotel was a beautiful walk from the 30th street train station. We were greeted with warm and accommodating staff who let us check in early and secure a late check out. The hotel has a chic vibe to it and the room was spacious and very clean. Plenty of fluffy towels and high end products as well. The hotel was a short walk to the convention center, Terminal Market, and great shopping.
I spent one night at the Le Meridien while visiting a friend in the city. Upon arrival Mariah at the front desk was very polite and accommodating. I had originally booked a room with 2 beds since my sister was supposed to come as well. She couldnt make the trip and Mariah told me she could switch me to a King room if i preferred. The room was clean and comfortable. It was cozy size and the bathroom was nice. The 2 gentlemen at the front desk when i checked out the next day were equally as nice and personable but i didnt catch their names. I would definitely stay here again in the future and recommend it to others.
My friend and I stayed at this hotel for one night when visiting Philly to attend a concert..I am a Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite member, and this was my first trip to a Le Meridian, which is under the Marriott umbrella. At check-in, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that we were selected to be ”the guests of the day.” The front desk personnel went over the top to make our experience extraordinary, greeting us with glasses of champagne, a room upgrade, candy, and big smiles all around. Later in the evening, they surprised us with the delivery of a fruit plate and high-end bottled water to our room. Dinner at the hotel restaurant, Amuse, was excellent. I cannot say enough about how fantastic our time was at the hotel. Now comes the downside...we checked out, and while on our way to get our car, we were intercepted by the valet manager who informed us that the valet driver had an accident. Our happy smiles soon turned into frowns when we saw the damage done to my car. The valet manager was extremely apologetic and told us that we would not be charged for valet parking (the least that they should have done). He took down all of my contact info and told me to get an repair estimate and submit it to him and they would pay to fix it as good as new. It’s been two months and I am still.waiting for their insurance company to process the claim.
We were at this hotel for a New Years Eve wedding. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our every need. They were friendly and engaging. The wedding space and reception ballroom were fantastic. It was perfect in every way. Our weekend stay was so comfortable and the room was very large and spacious. We were assisted with transportation information and I felt the staff really cared about our comfort.
Conveniently located just across the square from City Hall, the Meridien is a very pleasant hotel architecturally interesting, and with a hip feel to it. The location is just a tad off from the perfect spot, i.e. Walnut Street and all its restaurants. Yet, it’s convenient enough. The immediate vicinity to the hotel does not feel very safe to walk around at night, case in point the arrest I witnessed merely a block from the hotel.Service was very good, door staff is very friendly and eager to help, and check-in and check-out were a breeze. I was upgraded to a deluxe room with city view, which is very impressive with the city hall all lit up at night. On the downside, there is no club lounge, and not even a single complimentary bottle of water for platinum guests. Another complaint is that every single bath towel left by whole body covered in white fluff, so I would suggest changing the supplier. The lobby bar is a pleasant enough place to have a couple of drinks and generally the whole place has a funky atmosphere. The rooms are very comfortable, especially the beds, well decorated as well, so no complaints here. Gym room is small, but well equipped. Would definitely stay again.
This is a lovely ,modern hotel smack dab in Center City. For dog owners,it is a find because there is no fee for pets to stay. (grass located catty corner at Love Plaza). The staff was exceptional as was the food, which it should be at the price ,but the price matched the higher end quality of the hotel. The bed was super comfortable (like most Marriotts) . The TV did not have HBO etc but was a Comcast cable system so you could watch some shows on demand (and I caught up on some of my favorites). The ambience is sophisticated and clean . Fridge in room was handy and almost amy convenience you need was close by. I did not have a car with me so cant comment on parking.
I stay in Philadelphia for work often and Ive stayed at all of the Marriott properties there. This hotel is located close to Suburban station, center city, and the convention center, making it incredibly convenient for both business and leisure travel. The staff here are very nice and friendly whenever I get a chance to chat with them. I like the platinum breakfast here (you can use your voucher to get room service, call down to have breakfast made and pick it up on the way out to door, or sit in the dining room). The rooms are a great size (even the non-suites are nicely sized) and updated with modern decor. I generally prefer to have rooms with a view of city hall, but the others are fine as well. I like how this property has the voice remote and bigger TVs for when I want to watch TV--it makes it easier to find things on an unfamiliar channel listing. For me, this hotel is a nice combination of amenities, quality staff and dining, nice rooms, and price. I always try to book this hotel when Im in Philadelphia and Im always a little bummed when I have to go to one of the other properties.

Not a good stay, very disappointed in responses. Our mattress cover had blood stains on them, and they wouldnt change them out or change our room. They did leave a mattress cover on the floor next to our room door so we could change it. We understand the covid thing, but we got a hotel room so we would have to clean sheets, shower floor dingy too. No vending machines no restaurant open.. nothing to drink, your out of luck. Not a good stay
Growing pains. There were fridges but werent turned on. Staff did not know who the new owners are, linens on bed did not fit mattress. Staff did not know how to get on wifi. No instructions in room for TV, wifi. I know this is because of COVID,but you can print instructions for each guest. BUT, great location in city for museums, subway, market, etc.
So close to being a four star hotel, but ultimately it’s the little things that bring it down. Examples include,-fridge not working-sanitary seal on fridge broken-coffee maker not working-water proof seal dangling off shower-valet not answering phones-smart TVs not connected to the system or set up (although points for being so new)-and moreThere’s a lot of potential here, but it has a ways to go.
This hotel was phenomenal! The staff makes you feel welcome as soon as you pull up. They are always gracious and attentive. The rooms are beautiful, clean and have some spectacular views! The food was phenomenal - especially the eclairs!! The building itself is a beautiful and thoughtful work of architecture - we loved it.A member of our group had to extend their stay past the noon check-out. It was very short notice, but the concierge made accommodations for them to extend their stay until 9 pm - no fuss, no bother.Perfectly located in Center City, it is a short walk to museums, dining and shopping. I will definitely be back!

2022-02-13The stay did not feel like this establishment deserved a 4-star distinction. The room was underwhelming, with the wall by the window showing cracks. The room was also missing a refrigerator. It didn’t feel and look modern, a big difference to what was shown in their photos on Google. Valet was $48 plus taxes overnight, which was understandable since this was downtown. The only reason I gave an additional star was because of Jacqueline, the daytime receptionist — she was personable and sweet. She was a joy to speak with, and she made me feel welcomed. I also appreciate the servers during breakfast time and the valet attendant, they were all kind and attentive. The food we received during breakfast was also great. The overall appearance of the establishment and the room I booked for two days did not live up to the standards I had and for those reasons, I will not return to this hotel.

2022-06-25Nicely designed upscale rooms. Friendly staff. Provided robes on request. Great location by quality restaurants. Espresso in room. Classy hotel bar that had a French hot breakfast in the morning. Unique enclosed courtyard which would be a good work/reading area. Zero complaints, would recommend!

2022-02-17The hotel lobby was actually more flattering than the room, but that’s fine. My biggest complaint was they did not have any vending machines or even a bottled water to offer guest. My boyfriend had to walk around to 4 surrounding stores just to find us some refreshments. NOT OKAY for a 4 star hotel!!!!

2022-06-21I travel to Philadelphia often and stayed for the first time at Le Meridien. My experience could not have been better! The hotel is beautiful. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I found the restaurant to be excellent and was pleased to see an active nightlife at the bar. This may have been my first stay, but I can assure you that it is not my last. It is my new favorite hotel in Philadelphia!

2022-06-27This was my first time to visit the area. From the moment I checked into the hotel I was amazed. The staff was so very nice and bend over backwards accommodate. The room was very nice and clean and smelled fresh. The restaurant was very good and prices were very reasonable. The next time I visit I will be sure to book my hotel room at this place.

2022-05-15It is solid for a 4 star hotel. Staff is great but unfortunately the upkeep just seems to be a bit lagging and they are in need of a reno. Rooms are also not very well lit so if you are looking to work out of your room do take that into account.Hotel gym is a solid B-/B. Has all basic equipment you would need (dumbbells up to 50, treadmills etc) but is not very largeLocation wise though it is great so if you just want a spot that is central and easily accessible, likely way to go

2022-06-27The hotel is a block and a half from my office...could not have been more convenient!! The room was very comfortable and nicely appointed. The staff at the hotel were professional, knowledgeable and very accommodating. I will stay here again on my next trip to Philadelphia.

2022-06-09We really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It was centrally located and within walking distance to a large number of restaurants and attractions. The rooms were clean and comfy. My only complaint was that the pillows were very soft

2021-12-20Nice hotel and great location for what we wanted to do (right across the street from Love Park). The room was a decent size, clean, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom lacked some details... there was no hand soap at the sink, the tissues were running low with no replacements, there was only one washcloth, and one cup for 2 guests. I went to make coffee in the morning and there was only decaf. In addition, they advertised a brunch from 11:30-2:30 but when we inquired we found out that wasnt available anymore even though it was advertised on their website and in the elevator. In addition, I find it ridiculous that they dont include parking. Valet parking was an additional $58. I expected more from a 4-star hotel.
