Beautiful zoo located in a nature preserve! Lots of animals to see from many different parts of the world! Park is extremely clean and the staff are super knowledgeable and friendly! Park layout is a perfect circle so there is no chance you will miss any exhibits! Paths are clearly marked and go one way which is great to keep the crowds moving! Definitely make this a stop if you are in the area!!!
Had an amazing time at the zoo with my family. My kid had a great time participating in the Halloween festivities. The staff there are all so kind and polite, some even pretended to really be scared of my kids costume. Also with tokens we were able to pick out some pumpkins that we took home to carve.
Great place to spend the day besides visiting the zoo. There are the trails, scenic overlookand river to keep you busy. The zoo isnt really worth the admission but to keep it running it justifies it for me anyways as parking is free. There arent many animals and some cages only has 1. Feel bad for the single ones.Zoo isnt that big can complete it in an hour with a leisure stroll. But the other outdoor activities make up for an entire day.Overall a great experience for the kids and those who love being in nature.
Doesnt take long to get through the whole place, but many beautiful animals. There were a hand full of empty enclosures. They said the birds of prey are all rehabilitated and unreleasable to the wild which I thought was nice. The lynx was pacing back and forth which was sad to see. It was fun to watch the otter swim around. The kids enjoyed it.
I thought the place was really nice but slightly disorganized.Lunch was not expensive. Hotdogs were 2$ hamburger was 3.50 for comparison average side was 5$ food was way better than I expected and super filling.although the line was insane and the wait was as bad as it looks. Kudos to the staff working I saw them working crazy fast so it was no fault of their own.Animals were adorable prices over all are great and Id go again. The indoor exhibit was small and not great for kids and adults who are overstimulated. It gets very loud and crammed. There is a small playground perfect to get some energy out, would be great if at some point they add a 2 and under area or expand to include a touch and explore center with a few activities!
I had an enjoyable time with my boyfriend at Winter Lights Spectacular. I was slightly bummed that the lights werent as they were when I came four years ago. The lion and elephants werent moving as well as the tunnel lights, and the figures in the lake werent there this year.
I’ve gone here since I was a little girl (a VERY long time ago) and it was the Trexler Game Preserve. No matter how many times I go, I still enjoy walking through, seeing the animals close up, learning new and interesting things about them. And it’s not just family fun. My children are both grown, so this year my husband and I went, just the two of us. We had just as enjoyable a time as we did with the kids! One thing I do miss… When I was about 7, my family had gone and we were in the petting area. There was this llama that was very affectionate with me (even though I had no food). Ever since, I’ve adored llamas and have always had an odd way with them. They’ve never been anything but affectionate. I often wish the zoo would bring back llamas to a petting area. I do so miss that. Otherwise, it’s a great way to spend a nice sunny day!
I am only giving this place 1 star because I can’t give 0. Admission was $11 and we definitely overpaid. Penguin exhibit was closed. Bird exhibit was closed. Giraffe deck was closed. And nothing was in more than half of the enclosures. I think we saw about 15 animals all together and that includes 5 goats that were in the same enclosure. I’m 7 months pregnant and the restrooms were closed. The frog exhibit was traumatizing for the kids in our group because they were all dead and literally moldy so they had to be dead in there for days, if not weeks. Also there was trash in a lot of the exhibits.
Most exhibits were open. Some activities require purchase of tokens. The zoo is laid out well, but on the smaller side. Naturally, the nocturnal animals were hidden away to sleep, which is expected. Theres a little playground area for kids 5+. Its pretty good - not great, but pretty good. This was my second visit. Took about an hour to see everything.
We love/loved this zoo. When the kids were younger it was a great place to to let them explore and experience the animals up close. Clean, inviting and calm. A beautiful day out. As young adult she still loves this zoo and the little area driving out is something to enjoy.
I thought it was going to be a small little walk, but it actually turned out to be perfect in size. I would suggest that you go either early early when they are just open, or maybe later in the afternoon because I went from 10 to 2 and none of the animals were out and about as they probably just got fed earlier and it was their naptime.
● HANDLERS WITH SERVICE ANIMALS! ●Although a sign at the check-in booth and federal law welcomes service animals…. Handlers accompanied by service animals will be approached by staff, manager Robert R. to be threatened before being permitted to enter (per Amanda Shurr CEO, Matt P. COO, “zoo policy”).I do have to say, this is a first for us, it was embarrassing and a very unpleasant experience. After being singled out, we were left alone for the remainder of our time, but it definitely ruined the mood and made us feel very uncomfortable around staff.
Great small zoo.Took my Grandson here for his 2nd birthday. He loved it.Many different animals in large pens.Hands on giraffe feeding station.Public Restrooms were clean and well Maintained.Staff was friendly and professional.A few souvenir shops, well stocked with products.Fair price to get into the zoo.Stayed for the penguin feeding. It was fantastic. They feed the animals and had young lady give a talk during the feeding.Very Informative.Took about 2 hours to get around the zoo. There were several food and drink vendors. We did not have any food or drink.Free parking.Lots of shade and seats to take a break.Great creek crossing with your car at the exit.On the way out you drive past the Bison in the fields. All in All a great afternoon at the Zoo.
Found this little zoo by a google search. And let me tell you it was a fantastic experience! Small but not lacking got there at a great time and was able to see the animals before it had gotten to hot! Tatu the giraffe was a beautiful site. Got to knock off something from my bucket list by feeding him. The penguins were great and the employees were knowledgeable and welcoming! Great spot if you’d like something small to start your toddler off with. But overall a great experience for me and my tiny family. Definitely will be visiting again.
We go at least once every yearThe kids love this place and it’s wallet friendly.Easy to get to, parking is simple, getting in is easy and your kids will have a blast. We love the penguins and the wolves. However this past trip the giraffe stole the show. This place is great for younger to early teens. It’s not a huge zoo so don’t plan for an entire day. But if you do know they do have side exhibits and food. Some are pricey but the kids will love it. Go and enjoy.
I give it 3 stars because it took me almost 2 hours to get there but you see the whole zoo in only 1 hour. The people are really nice and it is clean place but it has very little amount of animals of each type , very few different animals And the animal spaces are small and there isnt many activities , the animals look bored.
Disappointing doesn’t even begin to describe my experience here. First off, half the zoo animals were not even present, leaving cages and exhibits empty. And if they were there, they were hiding and sleeping. Which isn’t the zoos fault, but the animals looked so miserable, doesn’t seem like they upkeep a lot of their cages. Not enough grass or dirty waters for them it seems. Underwhelmed immensely. I’m in shock this zoo is even still in business. I was really tempted to return to the front for my 15$ back, but decided to just write this review, warn people what they’re getting into. Also, they’re working on like half the zoo with reconstruction at the moment so a lot of the exhibits are empty. The penguins in the front were not present and the water was drained, not even a sign to say they’ll be back soon or anything, which was the animals I was most excited for…
The zoo was set up safely for Covid protection. It is cute and family oriented. A nice leisurely stroll was a great way to spend an afternoon on the sun and seeing the animals. Our kids were able to pet a goat too. They are setting up for their holiday event and things are looking festive!
We really enjoyed our visit. I feel like it could use a little bit of a face-lift here and there in some of the habitats, but it was a nice trip. The giraffe feeding was fun. It was a kinda long line for our time slot but theyre doing really well with the social distance in line, there was a woman standing there making sure people were not on top of each other (which I greatly appreciate) you wash your hands then get 3 pieces of romaine to give to them it was really cute. We like to go around Christmas time and see the lights thats wonderful! They do a really good job.

This is the cutest local zoo I have been to! It took us roughly 2 hours to visit all exhibits. My family & I have never been here so we took our 1 year old with us. He seemed like he enjoyed it but my husband and I had the most relaxing Friday afternoon. The zoo wasnt crowded & all the animals were visible. The zebra exhibit had to be my favorite. These exhibits were not small like the Philly zoo...thank goodness! So much to see. I only wish they had more snack & food options on the other side of the park. But overall, during this pandemic, we finally had an amazing day. When leaving the zoo, they even had a drive down exit where there was a park, some bison & other animals. Everyone was compliant with the masks and social distancing. Will come back more! Thank you LVzoo. This zoo also has a facebook where they announce events within the zoo. Hoping they are doing BOO at the zoo this year!
Went to this zoo for the first time today and was shocked they charge people for coming in with the VERY small assortment of animals we saw today. What did we see? Owls, raccoons, falcons and river otters. Very small assortment of snakes, turtles and lizards. Most of the more popular animals such as the giraffes and penguins were not available when we went. Also did NOT tell us we would have to forge a small river on our way out of the zoo. Livid that that was not shared with us.
I was really disappointed that a number of exhibits were closed and not listed on their website. They should post the times the animals are most active because many of them were not to be found in their habits. The cats imperticulre. The giraffe feeding for early sessions were already sold out even though we arrived 15 minutes after they opened. We werent told that we needed tokens at the entrance to feed the goats so we had to go to a gift shop/ice-cream stand to get them. Another disappointment. All in all my granddaughter enjoyed it but I really think they need some new management.
As a family we have been going to the game preserve for about 25 years and have always enjoyed it until this past visit.Exhibits are overgrown and poorly maintained. Lynx was pacing anxiously in a too small enclosure which made us sad. Otter pond was dirty and trash in the pond.No food or drink vendors on site just dilapidated structures where they used to be. We will not be returning.
Complete disappointment and total waste of money. Theres maybe one animal in each exhibit if youre even lucky enough to see them all day ... There were no penguins. The snack bar was not open and when they did open it was only for a short period of time and there were no lids for the overly priced drinks. PetSmart has a better selection of reptiles to look at than the zoo. You can do the entire zoo in a total of maybe 40min Zoo staff was rude and snapped at my child for standing on tip toes (on the ground) to see the one animal in an exhibit. The exit road through the water looked like a third world county littered with people and children unwilling to move for vehicles.... We drove almost 2 hours to see a zoo and wont be returning again.
We took our little ones for the first time today. I hadnt been to this zoo in many years & it definitely looks aged. It seems very worn down & there were at least 5 exhibits that just did not have any animals in them. Will probably not be going back to this zoo again. Still had to pay full price with all the missing animals (penguins, turtles, horse, swans, lorikeet area was shut down, prairie dogs were nowhere to be seen & so overgrown).
There is different times for you to go there make sure you buy your tickets in advance there wasnt a line when we got there and we were able to see the animals pretty some of them were no there which was confusing but for the most part it was a nice walk seeing the animals that were available.
Ive been coming here for years..as a kid myself, then with my children and today with my childrens children. I have to say, I am so glad they are all a year or younger because I was so disappointed. Overgrown and empty enclosures/roped off attractions...missing animals. There was more not to see than there was to see!! Admission was full price though and no mention that there would be no penguins, llamas, birds of any sort (other than birds of pray) no farm animals..other than 3 goats, no prairie dogs... The list goes on. Also food was so limited and everything shut down at 3pm. Couldnt even get a bottle of water..but the vending machine gladly took my $2 for a can of soda. My grandbabies enjoyed themselves(which made it a nice day) but for the rest of us..what use to be..was but a sad memory. Will we continue to come to the special events throughout the year..probably..but the game preserve was always special to my heart but today it was tough to see why.
It was so fun to visit this zoo located in the middle of a nature preserve. I really appreciated how serious they were to ensure that only a limited number of visitors were allowed in at a time, small groups in the exhibits, cleaning and sanitizing of hands before and after interacting with any animals and of course mask wearing at all times! We loved everything about this place and will definitely be making the drive to come back again.
For the small amount of animals now available (no penguins, only one otter, no turkeys etc) and the construction that is NOW being done when the weather is so nice to visit, you should reduce your admission prices by at least 50% !!! This zoo is definitely not being run like it was years ago. Terrible!
Charged full priced, half the exhibits aren’t there. The animals look and seem very lonely, the cages haven’t been cleaned in months, no water or food in any dish, the bird feathers were all disheveled and messed up. Half the animals looked dead 🥺this isn’t even half of what I experienced, it’s very sad we gotta do better.
Another wonderful experience for the entire family at the Winter Lights Spectacular! Always giving all the holiday feels with a beautiful, cheerful and Spectacular display of lights, animals, music, food, live shows and much more. We will continue to make this an annual holiday tradition for our family. 🎄
Are you ready to see ferocious lions fighting each other for mating rights? Tigers going for each others throats? You are? Well, youre not going to see any of that (at any zoo for that matter,) but you do get to feed goats, chickens, sheep, fish and turtles. Its a nice little zoo, not a lot of space for the animals but I think they are doing the best with what resources they have. Not too crowded, clean, and you can probably see the whole zoo under 2 hours. The only thing I dislike was the time they open and close. 10am is too late to open, by that time, animals are looking for shade from the sun. 4 pm to close is too soon because thats when most people come to a small zoo, after work or school. Anyways, I still liked the zoo, I had fun feeding the pets. The tokens to feed them is 6 per $5 or 1 per $1.
I’ve been coming here for 25yrs when it still just called Trexler Game Preserve. It never gets old coming here! I visited twice this year and loved it both times. I love taking pictures of animals so zoos are the perfect place for me to enjoy a bunch of animals. The price point is great for this zoo and it’s worth it to go! When I go I usually spend 4-6hrs each time so I always getMy moneys worth and then some.
Save your money it was a waste better off going to the Philly zoo or Safari we came with my family and there was barely animals out which they should say it on there website before purchasing or give you a discount because there is only 5 animals out. That’s reason why they tell you no refund after purchasing because they know people aren’t going to be pleased I know my family and kids weren’t just be aware not worth it.
I love going here for the light show! Its absolutely beautiful and there is so much to see. It was cool that they had signs posted about ways to be environmentally friendly during the holiday season. I love roasting marshmallows and seeing Disney characters sing. Its really a sweat experience all around :)
Very disappointing. Drove over an hour just to find out that more than half the exhibits were closed because they decided to move the animals at the “last minute.” We are season ticket holders but brought a guest that had to pay full price which was ridiculous considering we saw maybe 5 animals. We will not be renewing our membership.
Overpriced, animal exibits not open, animals looking unhealthy, field trips should not be operating with public openings. I saw no penguins, birds, etc never saw the sign about the HPAI on the TV ads which was the reason i went. I am from the Caribbean was hoping to see birds and animals we dont have. Animals i saw dont look well cared for. Very disappointing
It has developed quite a bit over the years, though still relatively small compared to many zoos. It’s a nice way to spend an hour, but it’s not an all day or half day kind of zoo. They’re doing great things to care for and rehabilitate animals though! Unfortunately, membership does not allow for any permitted guests like other zoos, even with recorded guest name and required photo ID. So even though we are members, if I wanted my sister to take my son to the zoo while she watches him, she would have to pay admission every time. The cost of membership seems high for the limited amount of benefits pertaining to this zoo.
I went with a class of special needs children. They only gave a dollar off the cost of an $11. We were also told if we cancle due to rain( they were calling for severe rain the day we went)we could not get our money back or if we change the date we would have to pay another 2 dollars. Which I dont understand the extra 2 dollars, because we already gave 10 the the cost to get in was only 11 and all they did for us was let us in the gate. A lot of the animals were not out; we were told to come back later in the day to see the giraffe. Two of the kids were in wheelchairs and could not see some of the animals due to the way the animal cages were set up.
Honestly there were alot of animals not out. The penguins were under construction which would of been nice to know prior. Apparently giraffe feeding needs to be bought at the gate and it was all sold out when we tried to buy. Honestly they should of taken money off of our total for how much was closed. Bad experience next time Ill go to the Philly zoo.
A season pass is absolutely worth it. Its fun to come here with no agenda or let your kids call the shots on which way you go and what you do. They always seem to have some sort of event going on like today where you could meet Bean the sloth along with a musician who was playing near the food area as well as a Kona ice truck. I especially like it here at Christmas with all the lights but you have to pay extra (even with a membership but you do get a discount). Being a member you also get a discount at the gift shop and food stands.
The zoo itself was on the small side but it is worth stopping by if in the area. Was hoping for some larger animals like elephant or tiger or lions, but the had animals on the smaller size. I think the biggest animal was the giraffe. The animals seemed well taken care of and happy. Staff was polite and handed out carnations to all mothers (went on mothers day weekend) they even had stations thru out the park where for a fee kids could make things for their mothers. Would recommend to friends family. Not as good as Philly zoo but better than Zoo America.
Good sized zoo. Plenty of open exhibits and types of animals. Was enough to keep both a 6 year old and a 1 year old entertained for a few hours. Snack bar was pretty pricey for what you got, but you can bring in external food. Gift shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. It is also easy to avoid if you dont want your little ones going crazy for a souvenir.
Its not going to rival the Bronx, Philly, or DC Zoos for size and variety of animals, but this more intimate zoo has a pretty wide variety and is perfect with small children. The loop makes it easy to navigate with even small children and the size means they wont get too tired out. The petting zoo and slides are great touches that keep kids entertained. The unique animals like otters, wolves, and a ton of predatory birds make it unique and interesting. The features like a stand where you can feed giraffes at eye level are awesome too. The price is a bit high for the size, but its still worth it for a great family day.
This place is always a lot of fun for all ages. Due to covid-19 I recommend getting your passes online before going (does not apply to members). The staff are usually pretty friendly and will assist you with your needs. There are tons of fun special events and even more for members. Covid has been hard in the zoo so please support it as much as possible.
Not crowded, habitats are very natural appearing and not closed in glass walls. The otters are amazing to watch. Also when you drive in you drive through a nature preservation which is very cool and surreal. There is a creek that you drive your car through like a safari. It was worth the trip!
I visited out of curiosity. The last time I was here it was The Game Preserve....quite some time ago! The animals look healthy, but I didnt care for the small enclosures....especially for the larger animals. The giraffes, zebras, ostriches, and the like need room to run. The wolves need more room to roam. Just my opinion. The penguins looked like they were having fun!
Good for a romantic date or time with the kids. Lights in the Zoo was a blast to do. The Zoo animals are tucked away in the warmth. Hot Chocolate prices vary from 3-6 dollars. Cheapest right at the entrance. Plenty of photo opportunities, and Santa is on site. Lots of fun and music playing all the time.
What a lovely place to visit to walk around the beautifully christmas lights. It was short, thankfully, the day we went it was really, really cold, but the fire pits and hot chocolate made up for such a cold evening. We walked around the park twice to ensure we didnt miss anything.
I went with my kids and their kindergarten class. We got to walk around and see some animals but many of them were sleeping. The area was very scenic and family oriented. The kids were amazed by the animals that they did see and we got to feed the giraffes. Its not everyday you get to have such an experience!
I had my 30th birthday here on 7/29...and I was absolutely blown away. The zoo grounds and staff are incredible!! All the animals are very well loved and cared for and the staff is so passionate and knowledgeable. Friends and family have been talking about it non-stop! And myself as well! I was able to book Bean the Sloth (months in advance) for my party, along with a few other animals and it was just an amazing party from start to finish. It was a once in a lifetime experience for everyone. I really cant thank the entire LVZOO crew enough for providing me with the most memorable birthday Ive ever had. I live three hours away and the trip was SO worth it. If youre looking to have a party here, for kids or adults, their pricing, facilities, and party options are unbeatable! Even if you just want to come and visit for the day, its well worth it. I cant wait to go back! ❤
Was at the Zoo during their Christmas light display. My 20 month old loved it! There were all sorts of photo opportunities, with Santa, wooden Santa, snow globes, Disney characters and the grinch! My son enjoyed running through the light tunnels. Food was for sale and moderately priced. Only bad thing is trying to drive there in the dark, lots of windy roads.
Zoo is not that big. Some animal cages I saw are small such as raccoon and porcupine and seems kind of cruel considering the amount of space they have around them and could easily expand their living areas. I wanted to feed giraffes before the feeding time closes. Giraffe attendant told me to go to dipping dots to get ticket but when I got there she told me she cant do it I have to go to front so I ran up hill to the front and that lady told me that dipping dots couldve given me the ticket! I sprinted back right before it closed. Its a nice small zoo but would like to see some improvement with animal living areas.
We walked the whole zoo from 11:30-1, had lunch, then hit the gift shop. Food is good, and prices on everything are what youd expect.Dont feel pressure to get tokens at the gate - they can be purchased throughout the zoo, and personally I think are a waste of money anyway. The ticket to feed the giraffe is worth it though.Overall a nice day trip.
Had an animal encounter today with an absolutely lovely raccoon. The two educators we worked with today were brilliant, insightful, and extremely pleasant. Totally recommend this amazing experience if you are an animal lover. The zoo on its own is also amazing, one of my favorite small zoos in the region. A nice change of pace from the Philly zoo with some really interesting species on display, as well as zoo standards.
We love the Lehigh Valley Zoo! Its smaller than the Philly Zoo, but has just enough wildlife and exhibits for a 2-3 hour visit. The zoo is super clean, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. We loved it so much the first time that we got an annual membership for whole family. We can now visit all year long!
Great because its not crowded. Kids can really observe the animals up close without being pushed out of the way. There is a ton to read, too. They have a great mission of conservation. Their winter lights are breathtaking. So many free photo opportunities plus an option for paid photos with Santa by Dans Camera for a reasonable price. (Less than $40 for all the digital files and Santa was great at getting the perfect facial expressions from the kiddos. )
The LV Zoo/Trexler Game Preserve is a fantastic little place to visit. It is a small zoo with limited animals, but what it lacks in variety it makes up for in heart. The main Zoo can be explorer relatively quickly, however hours of hiking await if you choose to take advantage of the trails. Kids also get a kick out of crossing the Jordan creek. Definitely worth the visit!
This place is very calm but very small inclosure for each of the animals. Horses are very much herd animals and there horse is alone. Otters should have a buddy, same with giraffes and alone again. Wolfs are pack animals and only saw one. There was a kids cup in the wolfs water. Both cats were pacing back and forth in there inclosure because of boredom. The goats were laying on concrete floors and like three mats. I have horses and they have mats in there stall but we still your bedding for comfort. I know y’all wouldn’t want to sleep on concrete. The snake enclosure were so small they barley could extend to full length. Lastly birds need room to fly and what NO ROOM.Please tell me this is not the case and the animals have separate enclosures to run around.
Cool local zoo. Can be pricy because there are exhibits that you have to pay extra for. But its a nice place in a cool location. The Xmas light show is nice. The drive through part you can drive through/across a river in your car during the summer. And theres a lot of parts in the nature preserve that are free just to drive through and picnic.
Really relaxing zoo. Best times to come are when they open. You can see the animals excited to be fed... And feed some like the giraffes and birds. After they eat they all went to nap... Some gold complained but I really loved my visit there. Not too many people and a great bunch of animals to look at. There is also a playground for small kids in case they need an outlet for their energy.
We always LOVE our visits to the zoo, we try to make it there once a month. It is clean, everyone is friendly, and you are able to get up close and personal with many of the animals. Feeding opportunities are available at the duck pond, barn, larakeets, and giraffes.
The Lehigh Valley Zoo, formerly known as the Trexler Game Preserve, is located in Schnecksville, PA. Or houses many birds and animals including zebras, giraffes, ostriches and African penguins. Of note, the scimitar-horned oryx, which are part of the Species Survival Plan Programs where visitors can see a baby oryx.
Driving thru the nature preserve is a great way to start your venture at the lehigh valley zoo. If you become a member you will get discounts at many zoos. The lehigh valley zoo is not big compared to philly. You may only spend 2 hours here depending on your pace. But i like that and the journey on the way out thru the preserve. You drive thru a stream on the way out. Feels like a local family zoo. Many activities throughout the year. Christmas lights are incredible - you can walk thru entire zoo lit up with amazing light displays. I had many conversations with the staff on my visits. They are very educated and very kind.
This is a great zoo. My kids love it here. Its a good place to spend a few hours on the weekend with the family. Its not too far from my home. My fiancée brings them here all the time. Its clean and the people that are here are fantastic. They will patiently answer all of 900 questions your kids have. Very affordable outdoor entertainment.
This zoo was a hidden gem that my even my teen kids enjoyed. Nestled in the mountains you really get a more natural feel walking through, and many of the animals are very, very close for viewing. definitely pay for the giraffe feeding- Tattoo is a sweet giraffe and its lots of fun for the kids. The trivia maze wound up being a highlight for my kids along with the talking cockatoo. A great time all around.
Do not visit during winter/early spring....I had planned a day trip with me and my friend in mid April...all the animals were sleeping not very active and most were not on display...due to cold climate...would have given 5 stars other wise...great zoo...very family friendly and the $13 dollar admission is a great price and an accurate charge for what they have... definitely going back once it gets warmer!!!!
First time there didnt really know what to expect. Got there early because I knew any later it would be very cold. Doors opened right 5:30 when we got there 15mins early a line was already formed. they have two lines. One for pre-order tickets and one for buying tickets. Both lines move fairly fast so its ok if you dont per-order. They have christmas movie clips playing on a barn. They also have a gift store and a game stand. They have 3 firepits for smores at $4 for a long stick 2 marshmallow choc. & gram crackers. I saw a lady bring her own. And buy one to get the stick. Over all great place for kids because of the princess shows.
We went to the zoo last Christmas and were let down. Not a single animal was decorated. Not even a hat or some garland. Fast-forward to today, we went for Halloween. Once again nothing at all. I get it that some you cant but none at all is really messed up. We are done with their holiday displays.

2021-12-29Really cool zoo! It was quiet and clean. All of the animals had enrichment in their areas and the animals look very well taken care of. Its a pretty intimate experience as you can stand pretty close to the animals near their enclosures. There is a really cool scenery spot to stop at before you get to the zoo parking lot too! I highly recommend checking this out, kids will definitely love this and there are many educational signs and opportunities.

2022-05-31Something to do.We buy passes every year just for something to do. One time is kind of enough, but we go all the time just because we LOVE stopping to have a picnic lunch and play in the creek on the way out.We usually show up at opening and say hello to our favorite animals and then head to the creek for the rest of the afternoon. As a combo, it’s a great way to spend a sunny day.We catch minnows and crayfish and tadpoles and frogs at the creek. (and put them back.) the creek is perfect for kids of all ages. My older kids look at wildlife and skip rocks and explore, my preschool/toddler age kids are happy just running through the creek, which is just the right level for them to be free to roam.

2021-11-28Great little zoo. Perfect size to hold the interest of a toddler. Beautiful Christmas 🎄 decorations. We picked the perfect day to go. Weather was awesome. Chilly but bearable. Zoo was not crowded at all! We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves.

2022-02-15Beautiful. Animals seemed well taken care of. My only complaint was that you sell tokens online but only one area was open that you could use them. (I’m guessing because it’s February) It’d probably be a good idea to list that online somewhere. The tokens are good for any visit though, so if you don’t use them, save for next time if you live near by.

2022-04-04Always a nice time here...staff is friendly and the animals love the attention. The reptile house is sometimes a wheres waldo situation but thats the same in any zoo. Be prepared just in case u need a snack to bring your own. We were there on a Wednesday afternoon at noon and the food stand was closed.

2022-03-24Beautiful and clean zoo with friendly staff. The animals had decent sized space for their needs. There was a nice variety of animals and the zoo is small enough to keep young kids engaged. If you have young kids, you should be able to get through it before the kids get bored and restless. I loved watching the otters, they were playful and entertaining. And you wont want to miss the penguin feeding. That was a hoot. I just loved seeing all the beautiful animals and asking the knowledgeable staff questions.

2022-07-01This is a small zoo and they have a few animals and so close to the neighbourhood for a quick stop for kids.. Do not expect to see a lot of Animals. The ticket rates are 14.50 and 13.50 for senior citizens and the wntry was free for my son who is one. Feeding animals cost extra. You can look at all the animals in an hour if you rush. With kids it ll not take more than 2 hours i suppose. Its well maintained and they have a decent food place as well. The access to the zoo is awesome; scenic! The Emus, Ostriches, Giraffes and Oryx are a must see. They have a snowy owl thats real pretty; reminded me of Hedwig. Quite a few animals were out or hiding in bushes/trees because of the heat (it was late June). The llama section was closed. For kids this is a quick and nice outing which also has quick bites to satiate the hunger after the walk. Without any high expectations, this place is a good time for kids and yhe adults too in seeing the kids enjoy.

2022-06-01The zoo was a nice day out. They had pretty cool things to see but a there were a handful of animals that were missing from the exhibit such as the giraffe to name one. Other then the few things we didnt get to see, everyone was friendly and we had. A good day.

2021-08-17Its a great zoo to take little kids to. We spent about 3 hours there including lunch. I had a 5 yr old and 11 yr old with me. They loved the maze and the playground and the wolf. You definitely have to order tickets early to feed the giraffe. I thought wed see the zookeepers feeding them. No. The kids feed them that have tickets. Tickets sell out fast. Its fun and educational to watch the zookeepers feed the penguins. Its not so large that it wears out Grandma. I put on about 8,000+ steps yesterday so its a great workout with the hills.I loved seeing the Trexler Preserve with the creek, bison herd, and incredible views. Ill definitely be back to enjoy the preserve. Its over a mile from the main road to get to the zoo and probably 2+ miles to get out. Enjoy the views on the way out and allow time for that.FYI you do have to cross a creek on a spillway (that can flood sometimes) to exit the zoo. Be aware your car will go through water.
