Terrible experienceThe rice was over cooked. The waiters messed up our order. We ordered one chiken kebab, and one kefta and liver, but we did not get the liver. The other waiter said she did not put the order in. My husband ordered water and he did not get it.We will never go back to this place, their service is terrible.
Food got one star but WAY WAY overpriced, but overall experience was bad. They didnt even ask me if i wanted drinks, i asked if they could substitute a menu item and they straight said no with an attitude (Like at least be nice about it). And werent attentive I waited an hr for my check which never came so i had to go to the front to pay. I probably should have just walked out. Guaranteed they would have remembered me then. Lucky for them im an honest person.. First and last time there definitely. Wouldnt recommend, it seems like they only want there people in there
Ordered for pick up and was so impressed! We had been a couple of times in the past, but never got food to go. They give you soooo much food, everything hot and super flavorful. Everything is fresh and prepared that day.Place is very clean and the staff are always so friendly. Highly recommend the mixed kebabs..
Food was prepared pretty quickly, looks good, above average taste but expensive for the portion they offer. Overall not bad. I’ll recommend it to anyone who like mild spicy simple food. What is really like is hospitality of the staff at this facility. Really welcoming nice folks 👍
Very delicious food. Lahmacun very tasty, the İskender kebap also was very tasty and great presentation. The sweet kazandibi also was very tasty 😋 .Service was good. It is worth to try. We like it very much. For an Özbek owner, we were supprised from the quality.Great place.
Small menu in the best of ways. The food here is amazing and you cant go wrong with anything they have. I had their kebab sandwich in that crazy lavash bread and it beat the pants out of any wrap-based food Ive ever had. Yeah.... including burritos. I will drag anyone and everyone I know here because no one deserves to live on this Earth without experiencing Little Istanbuls food. Note: I apologize for the graphic photos of a half eaten sandwich. I lack the common decency to cut the sandwich in half to show a cross-section.
Oh this lavash!!! Thats the taste I could try back in my country. For years i was searching for that taste, visiting many turkish&uzbek restaurants where you can order it. But there was nothing like, but eventually I found it. And will visit this place with my family again again)Moreover, i loved the fact - this place is really certified halal, not allowed alcohol & smoking) best place you can come with family. This place is vvery kid friendly)Thanks to the owners and all staff for presenting these all in one plate)
I visited this place with my family today and we were all amazed. I got full pretty fast, but that wasn’t their fault, I had just eaten fast. I tried a little bit of my fathers entree, and it was spicy. I usually don’t like spicy foods, but when I ate it, it was spicy but in a way that made me forget of the spice and I just enjoyed the taste. I also had the Gyro Sandwich and Lamb Chops, which were fantastic. I hope to be revisiting this place soon
I don’t know where to start. This restaurant used to be way better.I have been coming to this restaurant for pretty long time. Obviously, chef has been changed . Unfortunately , there is no option for zero star after my last experience. I’m well aware of Turkish food culture since I have lived in Turkey for very long time and I can understand Turkish as well. We were 2 people this time. We ordered mix appetizer and it supposedly come with some stuffed grape leaves but there was nothing on our plate. If you don’t have that, at least you should have told us or substitute with something else . We got liver, it was cooked for long time. I felt like they thought they are cooking whole thanksgiving turkey when they cook that liver. The worst part was that we have spent $94 for 2 people and they had the nerve to charge us $4 extra for the bread we got for our appetizer. I mean come on now!
I found out about this place from my Turkish employee after he brought me some Turkish food, living 20 years in NE Philly I wish I discovered this place much earlier, excellent service and amazing foods, if you want an authentic middle easter food this is the place for it, Im part Armenian and some of the foods on a menu reminds me of the food over there from my childhood, yes I am Armenian and I love coming here and I dont care about no politics I love Turkish cuisine its the best.
I wish, I could give -5 star but there is no such option. I had the worst experience here. Today I had beef lavash here, but it was not beef at all , it was stinky ground beef out of the fridge. I saw good reviews on the internet thats why i come here to eat halal food, but i got food poisoning at this restaurant. Never, never, never again. Guys, i dont recommend to visit this place Little Istanbul, unless you want food poisoning. I am going to report this business to Bureau of Business Affairs of Pennsylvania for selling poisoning food.I had only one bite from my lavash, i could smell very very old meat. Never come to this place again.
My family and I usually look for a Turkish restaurant on our way back to upstate NY after visiting family in Delaware. Today we tried Little Istanbul and we were not disappointed!!! Hands down the best Turkish food I have had outside of my görümce house ☺️ Everything was amazing, Iskender, Beyti, Adana kebab, lahmacun and they even had Ciger! The staff was friendly and the atmosphere is nice. We will make this our stop every time from now on!
The food was okay. better before!!and I ordered to take out, they messed up the order, different, I paid for lamb kebab and got chicken kebab, paid for mix appetizers for two and got 5 pieces of dolma!!! I don’t know if they did that on purpose or just a mistake 🤷♀️anyway if you order to take out you better check before you leave
I ordered way too.much food, but it was soooo good, and is now my favorite place. Everything tastes super fresh. The meats are so tender and juicy, the lamachun is delicious, the falafel are some of the best Ive ever had, and the yogurt sauce they give you, can be eater as a snack by itself, its that good!! Will definitely go back. There is dining in, but the seating is limited, take out is the way to go. And another plus, they really know how to wrap stuff so it doesnt spill. Well done!!
Food was not bad but service was terrible, we ordered only two portions and waited about 40 minutes , also we got warm tea with 4-5 old tea bags in teapot instead of hot tea… I expected that Turkish tea is better.. and also please teach your waiters do not throw dishes and give it them sincerely..
Good food but highly over priced. In New York same Lehmacum we can buy $2 each but this place sells the same product for $12.95 for 3 & no option to purchase individually. Hopefully they will fix their prices. Same pricing issues with hummus & adana kabab.........Updated changing my thoughts & appreciating them for providing water & dates for Ramadan for all their customers, JazakAllah. Thanks to new management.
I took my Turkish husband and half-Turkish children (born in Turkey) here for some Turkish food, and though it was good, most of what we had was not authentic at all. (The owners/operators seem to be Turkic, maybe Uzbek, but not TurkISH, so maybe that explains the difference.) The gyros had different lavas (wrap bread), garnishes, and for the adana, even different seasonings than restaurants in Turkey. It is possible to find this kind of food in Turkey, but in fast food places, and it is really Middle Eastern shawarma. Personally, I really like it, but my husband was a bit disappointed because he was expecting Turkish food. The lahmacun was more authentic and was good. We got takeout and didnt try the more elaborate dishes so I cant comment on their authenticity, but one thing I liked was that the menu had dishes like beyti kebap and iskender which are hard to find in local Turkish restaurants. I would try it again. There is also a market next door that sells some Turkish and other international products.
We met with friends at this place for dinner. We heard about this restaurant from a lot of people. Well, it was very successful. The staff welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The food was just great. We had a great time and we shall definitely come back again. Keep it up.👍👍
It is very busy right now for dinner, because so many are coming for iftar. But we love it here and we try to make it at least once a month. They have sanitizer at the door, require masks for all entry, and have a large bathroom where you can fit in with children if you need to, however, there isnt a changing table. The food is delicious and filling. We usually take dessert to go because we cant eat everything.
We have been ordering from Little Istanbul week after week for at least 2 months. Some weekends we ordered twice just because the food was so incredibly delicious.. We did not have one bad dish. The baba ghanoush is off the charts.Unfortunately, for the past two weeks the food has just been bad. Really bad. Last week two items were missing from my order. I spend at the very least $100 here every weekend. I called and let them know that items were missing. The gentleman I spoke to said that I hadn’t even ordered there. Then he said that I did order there but that they had put the items in my bags and the driver must’ve taken it. I tried to explain that I order there every week and love their food but that they had made a mistake. This guy just would not listen. Additionally our salad went bad the very next morning. Normally we have leftovers for lunch the next day. The salad was already bad. This week the grape leaves that are usually plump with flavorful rice and perfectly prepared were soggy and virtually empty of rice. I took a picture. It’s insane. There is no rice inside. Whoever was making them did a terrible job. They were covered in salt and soggy. The salad was bad. It already tasted like acetone. The lamb Gyro was dry and almost tasted like dog food. Once again there was no baba ghanouj in my order. I called and spoke to a gentleman who apologized and said they misunderstood my instruction and put the baba ghanouj inside of a pita. Perfectly understandable. Except, the amount of baba ghanouj inside of the pita amounted to about 3 tablespoons. 3 tablespoons for seven dollars? I don’t think so. have no idea what happened over the past two weeks. But this place has gone totally downhill. I will not be ordering here anymore.
Another Restaurant Review Day;“Delicious Food, Clean store, very clean restroom, smile face workers, good management.”We have found this place thru google map search,Tried to order some different multiple tastes.-Pide was BIG. Like real enough for one person, they used butter on bread side which gave such a nice flavor and perfect taste of bread and cooked well!!!!-Lahmacun, i think it was one of signature one. Ordered just one for taste it, regret that didnt make my all meal from lahmacun. -AMAZING ONE--Chicken Shish Kebab, ordered small portion and it was still big 4 piece + pilaf + salad. Chicken taste was fresh and cooked amazingly well .-Iskender Kebab, was another signature meal other than lahmacun! Döner Meat was amazing, tasty!Crew:Smile face, fast servers, Manager Mr. Safak Ekinci was very friendly, kind and helpful! Friendly cozy ambiance created. Definitely we will be back!
Ive ordered takeout from here at least three times. I have never been disappointed with anything that Ive ordered.. The Mix kebabs is my favorite! . I could just eat their hummus by the spoonful! A little pricey...and you get what you pay for = Great customer service and excellent quality food.5 stars Delicious Turkish food1. Nice, patient and friendly staff2. Clean restaurant and rest room3. Food was made fresh to order4. Great ambiance5. Delicious flavorful and fresh food.👍👍👍👍👍
Me, my brothers and our entire family used to order and go there on regularly bases until little kid, I guess owners brother rudely refused giving me the order I paid for. During the busy Ramadan days we ordered 4 Gyros to go not looking in the bag. The guy hand us 3 gyros instead. While arriving home and noticed the order was short we called and they told us they are busy and can’t deliver our order and they will give us some other day.We totally complied and told them OK since they were busy.So couple days later I was driving by I stopped by to get it. So this kid refused to give me and told me that I am lying and he gave me four.I wouldn’t want to argue with him over bread. I know his brother will talk to him regarding this issue. But overall I had the worst experience seeing little kid disrespecting me and making me look like I am begging for bread in front of many costumers.
We usually travel out of our state into Philadelphia just to have pide, lacmajun and occasionally some mix kebab. The server is always friendly, quick and efficient with his service. Our food always fresh and delicious, definitely worth the two hour drive. You have to try their desserts and their Turkish coffee! Better than an espresso shot Highly recommended.
We ordered a takeout and were totally taken aback by their lack of concern for their customers. Not a single person was wearing a mask. No social distancing was being followed. They have allowed indoor dining in a small restaurant. The small dining room was packed with people sitting very close to each other without masks. Servers, cooks, people at the counter were not even pretending to wear a mask. I am disgusted by their behavior. Unfortunately, my friend didnt let me get a refund. I trashed the food! There is no way I am going back there--as much as I like kebabs, I dont want to be risking my life for the kebabs! There are other good reasons to risk your life for. Take care of yourself...dont go there!!!
The best Turkish restaurant in Philadelphia. Hands down, the best I’ve been to. They make the best food. Super fresh, very flavorful. The seasoning is perfect. I love the layout of the entire restaurant. The staff are so respectful & kind. The kitchen staff are so clean & kind, they smile at you every time. I own the Halal Mexican restaurant on Grant Avenue & every time I get customers that want to go to another halal restaurant, I send them to Little Istanbul without hesitation. Thank you for bringing Istanbul to NE Philadelphia. 5 Stars
This place is so good, that Ive been there three times in under a month. Each time we go, we always order the different assortments of foods. The food was fresh, properly prepared and a great value for the price. All the good reviews that I have read about this Turkish restaurant are true. The friendliness of the staff seems genuine .Highly recommended!
I took my family there for the first time and the food was delicious and very generous amount of portion. So the following week my family wanted to order for delivery so we did. When we got the food I was very surprised as the portion was less than half and the food was really oily. Very disappointed as I really liked it the first time.
This place is very clean and comfortable makes me feel like I am at home. The food is amazing that I would love to thank the chefs and the people who prepare the food. The customer service is superb, and the staff is full of hard working individuals!!! The quality of the food reminds me of the same taste back in my home country.
This is surely one of the most pleasant place to eat in the neighborhood. Whenever I visit this place I am awfully satisfied. They maintain their very high level service and the topmost level of dishes they serve. You definitely will enjoy this this place. Warmly recommended.
Business should be called Little Covid 19. Absolutely no one wearing a mask, everyone sitting on top of each other, feet apart, not in kitchen and not out front. I see them poking breads and dishes with bare hands in the kitchen. They dont even make a show of it... total safety hazard going here.
Ordered food from little Istanbul today. Delicious food !! I got the Lahmacun , Falafel sandwich, Lamb & Chicken gyro. It had the authentic Mediterranean taste to it and much better than the other places i have tried. Although the portions could be a little bit more the taste of the food makes up for it. The lady who answered the phone was polite and even the young man who delivered the food. So glad i decided to get food from this restaurant.
The first bite you get just bursts into many flavors, and its just a perfect mix every halal ingredient. You really feel like you are at Istanbul it self just from the food. As well as the atmosphere in restaurant, it is immaculate, everyone is friendly and its worth your money for sure! It is a perfect place for family and friends. I will definitely be here a lot.
Giving five stars for the taste of their food, it’s really delicious! I hope they don’t change a chief, he/she is so professional, who brought a real taste of Instanbul to us. But every time I order, something is missing (I’m not saying they do it in purpose, I know it’s maybe because of a lot of customers) I just want them to be more careful... Highly respect all of them and wish you the best!!! I hope we enjoy the same great taste of Istanbul for years to come
Came hereFor the first time I was so excited to try turkish food as I am Turkish and love my Turkish food but I have to tell you after ordering the gyros I understood that they need too learn more about Turkish food and spices before they make one. Theyre food lack so much the taste is so deferent and spices are not there and the flavor is not there its seems like they are trying to cut back on spices and meats are not cooked properly I am sorry I wanted to give you guys a 5star but after tasting I have to tell the truth
The food is very good but the service is terrible. Had to constantly remind staff to bring bread. Never brought water had to get it myself. The people at the next table got food before us and they arrived later than us and had a lot more food. My friend got her meal before me. This is not the first time I experienced bad service. It seems they are understaffed and the restaurant was not busy. I traveled 45 minutes to go to this restaurant and the stress of getting my order correct and timely is not worth it. On the first visit I was overcharged by $20.00. I had to travel back to the restaurant to get the issue resolved. It was resolved but again a stressful experience. Dining out should not be stressful. If the service does not improve, I predict they won’t be in business for long. Wait staff also struggle with English.
Amazingly delicious with homestyle, attentive service. Everything from the bread to the mixed appetizer plate, Turkish cheese roles, lentil soup and various salads and shish were perfect. The staff is so friendly offered us a hot tea after the lunch would really recommend it for any one, and will visit this place again for sure👍👍👍
After having food couple of times in this place. I liked there food very much. Its really tasty and good food even getting better & better day by day. I thought this is the very place we was missing all these years in this area, in our community.Thank you very much brothers for bringing up to us the original taste of our home food and for showing such respectful hospitality.Keep it up .👍
Love authentic Turkish food and was not disappointed. Food was prepared and presented well and our lovely server, Isli was attentive and took time to answer our questions. We ordered the mix grill platter, a delicious taste of Gyro, lamb chop, Adana and chicken kebabs. This is served with an exceptionally delicious rice and salad. The Piaz white bean salad , lahmacun ( Turkish Pide with lamb and spices) and Pan liver were all very good. Looking forward to our next visit soon.
At first it seemed like a good place, but after awhile it got really strange. Cashier taxed me additional $1 for French fries, I asked her why she said that supposedly it’s sales tax. I have my own business and I’m sure there is no such $1 tax from $3.75 sale. When I asked her to explain what’s that tax, that came from nowhere, she got very confused and said that it’s okay and she will forgive me this $1. (What in the world is that?!) Now I don’t feel comfortable to use my credit card there cause who knows what else they gonna add to my ACTUAL tab. When you pay there with your card - check the receipts to avoid “surprises” and extra “sales taxes” or just find a place where u enjoy food and don’t worry about being scammed.1/10. Huge disappointment. It was the last drop.
This is was our first visit to the Little Istanbul restaurant and it was amazing. Food and service was excellent,It was excellent service from Shirin. In a busy restaurant, she made us and our American friends feel welcomed, guided everyone through a menu. Thanks to Shirin and the whole staff for making this an extra ordinary experience!
I was not satisfied with the food I ordered. The kabob platters were not good. The lamb was not done and was still pink and bloody. The amount was small for the price. I was excited to try this restaurant but was disappointed by the bland food. Most likely will not eat here again.
First of all, I want to say that I like the food of the restaurant. But the fact that the waiter named shirin was very disrespectful and arrogant made me very annoyed.I also witnessed the same attitude towards his colleagues. This situation is not very welcome for incoming customers. I hope to be done what you can do with this person.
The cafe closes at 10 pm, I called at 9, an hour before closing, I wanted to make an order for pick up, and the girl replied that they had no food left and she could not accept the order, and their superiors told them to make such a decision. It is very unpleasant to hear a lie. It is unpleasant and incomprehensible how absolutely no food can remain in a cafe? Why invent lies?

2022-02-26Little Istanbul always knows how to do middle eastern food right. The hummus was great and served with pita bread. The mixed kabob platter was delicious and there were chicken, beef, and lamb options. I finished off the meal with Turkish tea. The only drawback was the gyro over rice which had sliced meat which was a bit tough to chew. Service was perfect though!

2022-02-06I was blown away on how good this food was. I was also shock how much foot traffic they still have at 1:45 to 2pm on a Saturday as I am finishing my food. Seems like a lot of the local comes here.

2022-03-16A little gem in Northeast Philadelphia! We always come here for the delicious homemade Turkish food. Their soups are the best in town! (the cakes are great too:))The only thing which is not great is a constant issue with headlights of the cars parked right at front of the restaurant. People dont bother to turn them off! I guess we have to come when its not too dark outside.

2022-01-14Wanted something different today and decided to try the lamb gyro. First impressions is that the gyro has some nice weight. Lamb was flavorful. Seasoned heavily. Rolled with dices of tomato and slices of cucumber. Some yogurt sauce but also another sauce of their own. Its not a Greek gyro if thats what youre looking for but rather ery much its own. Fries were crispy but wish they were hotter because we waited for our order and ate in the parking lot but the fries were luke warm. Completed the meal with some peaxh juice which was decent. Total damage: $16. Worth a try if youre in the neighborhood and are looking for something unique.

2021-11-12A hidden gem, so glad to have found and tried Little Istanbul. Everything we tried was delicious. Yogurtlu Adana Kebab was outstanding. Adana kebab was also pretty good. We also loved the lentil soup and Lamachun. Plenty of dessert choices and never seen so many varieties of Baklava before. I highly recommended this place if you love Turkish or Middle eastern flavors.IG: journey_man16

2021-10-14The food was so delicious, but what we didn’t like is when the short waitress came to ask us what do we need for order (even though we had already ordered), she went very close to my husband to ask him. She doesn’t have respect to social distancing at all and she wasn’t even wearing a mask!My husband didn’t like it and I don’t think we’ll be back again. This is the only reason I give it 3 stars, other than that everything was great.
