MedExpress Urgent Care in other cities:
I just went last night for a sprained foot (Diagnosed as a sprain after being seen)- they were somewhat busy so I understood the hour I had to wait to be seen. When I was seen though, everyone was super nice and very prompt, all considering I had sprained my foot two hours ago at that point. They didnt force me to get any tests done- simply just offered them and gave me the option. They did the same with crutches, since you shouldnt walk on a sprain, but that was my own fault for not taking them! They did only what they were supposed to. I dont understand why people are giving low reviews for LONG WAIT TIMES- its an urgent care for crying out loud- they do the best they can especially during these times with COVID and everything.
An hour and a half after they open and Im still waiting for a physical. They take forever to even get you in. To then make you wait forever even after you know the drs and everyone is there. You can be first in line and still be here for over an hour. They dont take anything serious. They will let others who come in after you get taken back first. Good luck if you only need a physical or TB test. Its amusing to see the staff grab the same paper multiple times to then set it back to where they grabbed it from. They are horrible at time management and even show they waste time on purpose.
My wife took my 3 year old there because she developed awful ear pain, most likely swimmers ear. They point blank told her, while she’s holding our crying 3 year old daughter, “weee too busy to see her, sorry”. Are, you, serious?!?! My wife and I are both Registered Nurses with decades of combined experience….and never have been so in shock at the complete utter lack of care, empathy, and professionalism shown by them. If I could give zero stars I would. Awful. Now we’re driving to Philipsburg because they’d be happy to help us.
I have been to the medexpress twice in 5 days... on both occasions the staff and doctors have been extremely pleasant and helpful. Heres one thing to understand , it is an overwhelming field to be working in Healthcare at this time... day after day these people(drs, nurse, intake, ems, paramedics) shoulder the load of what our country is going thru on a personal level...they live it everyday.... before we are quick to judge others , lets take a minute to stop and say thank you..we appreciate you...someone outside of the group notices that you give of yourself everyday for our safety and health concerns... Thank you.... I very highly recommend
Visited MedExpress due to a possible coiv exposure. Despite the long wait times, the staff had us call to register, then called us back to complete our intake information. We waited about an hour around 10AM to be seen, but the wait was expected as the parking lot was near full of patients. Service and care were excellent and efficient. Ive had a few covid tests for various reasons but the MedExpress team explained the current guidelines and concerns my mother and I had so well. It was truly a nice experience. Will visit again if needed when Im in the area.
I am currently sitting in the waiting room with my boyfriend who has to wait 3 hours just for them to see him. Two of the lady’s at the desk have been absolutely rude. One lady puts patients on hold to finish a story about a patient. The other lady at the second window kept rolling her eyes as my boyfriend was signing papers. THIS PLACE SUCKS! Get your people in order. Patients expect better care and attitudes from these people.
Called in the morning for a rapid Covid test and was given an appointment for two people in the afternoon. Checked in from our car, completed personal info over the phone from our car. We were then called to come in for our tests. We were tested quickly and very professionally by the nurse and the provider within 15 minutes of our appointment.Top notch work during stressful times. Thank you for being on the front lines during this difficult pandemic. Stay safe!
I was turned away with no help whatsoever with a painful rash all over. They do not care about their patients at all! Your response to my review is irrelevant. I was seen by your doctor and told to leave because I was seen there for same issue a month prior. I left there in tears. Pathetic!
Very good experience. Excellent Covid safety procedures, pleasant staff. Doctor really listened to me and I left feeling that my health issues had been understood and addressed. Got a follow up phone call from a doctor the next day with my test results and suggestions for going forward.
Just called for a guest of mine at the Courtyard Marriott. Stupid way to answer the phone. Say how may I help you and take it from there. So at ten til 8 they are an hour and a half out. What happened to being open 9 to 9 ? Tammy was not user friendly. If I am calling you from a hotel about a guest, you should see her. No wonder you have 2.5 stars. Strive to be better !!!!!
They said it was going to be 2 hrs delay. I was their for I think 30 min. Nurse was great the doctor was wonderful. Staff was just amazing. Then even called make me appointment with orthopedic doctor. Thanks all for the Wonderful treatment. If I ever need you in emergency I will come there. My
First time visitor here.I took my 13 year old in today as he had a rash on his hands and feet as well as a sore throat. The wait was less than 20 minutes (including check in and payment), the office staff were polite, efficient and friendly. The nurse and physician we saw were competent, friendly and knowledgeable. I had never used these services before and was leery based on reviews here, however friends and family have always had positive things to say about our local Med Express. Our regular Doc couldnt see him til monday and i do not utilize the ER except for extreme emergencies so, we gave it a try. Glad we did and we will use them again. As a former clinic coordinator/clinical supervisor, I am fairly picky about atmosphere, staff competence, and friendly customer service. We found all those points positive today. Based on our experience, we would recommend them highly.
The reason for the bad reviews is:I arrived yesterday at 5:30 pm because my sons principal called me and told me a student in his class tested positive for covid19 so i want to get us both tested. They refused to test us as they are only testing patients that are Showing symptoms and i would have to go back tomorrow. I showed up today and with no remorse at all they tell me its a 4 hour wait and i had to await. I called my sons pcp and they told me to keep him quarantined for 14 days and only if he shows any symptoms, to call back to get an appointment to get him tested. I willnever come back here, i will wait several hours at another cate center before returning to med express. As the reviews show, you need to restaff your employees that at least show empathy.
We had to take our toddler in because of the holiday. He had smashed his finger in a car door a few days prior and the nail needed drained. Our experience was excellent. We were there for a total of 1 hour. Which was great. The staff members were all so friendly and wonderful from the front desk staff, to the nurses and the doctor. Please don’t take all of these bad reviews to heart because our experience was pleasant! I would recommend med express to others.
My son and I saw a very friendly PA. But when I got home and saw my very high numbers and was concerned, I called them. Spoke to Dr. Hampton on the phone and he was completely rude and unprofessional. Awful experience. My son tested positive for the flu but they didnt test me. When I also asked about that, he said the flu doesnt spread like that and I didnt need tested. So the flu isnt contagious Dr. Hampton? Wow!!Plus, we were there for over an hour and a half! It wasnt even crowded then.
Front desk secretary was exceptional rude to my gf when all she was trying to do was get health care. i If my tonsils were swollen like hers i would look for empathy not an attitude especially since you have to pay copays outta of pocket. Health care is about caring for people not about the money. If you think it is about money this field is not for you.
Im surprised to see so many bad reviews. I brought my daughter in for a UTI as it was Sunday, and her Dr office was closed. After reading all the reviews, I was prepared to be in there all day. Especially since it was our first time. But, from the time we walked in, until we were taken back to be seen was 10 minutes at most. The receptionist was friendly. The nurse and PA on duty were extremely friendly also. A quick lab test confirmed a UTI and she was prescribed an antibiotic. We were out the door about 30-40 minutes after we walked in. They even called 3 days later to make sure everything was going ok. Very happy with our experience here. Again, I am surprised with all the bad reviews. I wont hesitate to come here again.
So I dragged my one-year old daughter in here on New Years day because she is extremely raspy in her chest, congested, and grabbing at her throat. She started off with a mild cold a week ago, I waited it out because I am not one to rush to doctors if I feel it is not necessary and have her exposed to others illnesses in an office and others exposed to her. I did not take her to her pediatrician because his hours are evening hours so I had no way of calling in during the day to see if he was opened today (New Years Day). Well, I saw Dr. Michael Kline and he acted like I was crazy and that she is not raspy. He said her lungs sounded clear. Right before he came in the room the nurse noted how horrible she sounded - her exact words. She had a pretty good cough session prior to him coming into the exam room so maybe she did sound clearer to him. I assured him shes been progressively getting worse with the chest junk for the past two days and he was rude and blunt and said Theres no antibiotics for her here. I said fine, can you at least do a swab and test to see that she doesnt have anything serious? (Strep, bronchitis, etc.) He said he would not do that - Ive had this done here at med express before, but he claimed it could not be done on children so young. I left with a very sick baby and no antibiotics of REAL diagnoses as he ran no tests. She was carrying on while he tried listening to her lungs too because shes terrified of the doctors office. He has terrible bed side manner and did not try to gently talk to her or joke with her like most doctors would do. He was very ignorant and rude. I will be filing a formal complaint. Now I must drag her out, AGAIN to see her pediatrician and see a competent doctor who actually will listen and care and VERIFY with tests. If she has anything more than a virus, I will hold him personally accountable for his misdiagnosis or negligence if it turns out she really does need antibiotics. Praying she doesnt develop pneumonia.I have not had an experience like this with the other doctors here in the past, but I would advise everyone to steer clear of Dr. Michael Kline.
All the staff from check in to check out, were friendly and professional. The wait time wasnt any different than spending the hour in my doctors office, where they over schedule appointments and some days arent as cordial. If I have any future situations, I wouldnt hesitate to go back.
I get that this place is overrun with Covid testing, but staff could be more considerate. No one wants to sit in their car for 3 plus hours sick and then to have rude staff on top of it is just unacceptable. The nurse answering the phone was cold from the start. Thought it was your job to take care of people not make a bad situation even worse.
Despite all the negative comments being added in meant to target them to be closed down, can assure you that they give the best care to help autually fix the issue you go in for, they diagnose very well and get you what you need in order to feel better , unlike most that say they see no issue and should clear up on its own ... Highly recommended.
Honestly, at an Urgent Care facility, one would expect some amount of waiting (although minimal compared to the ER). This is not the case at Med Express in Altoona. I have waited for almost 2 hours the 5 times I have been to the facility in the past 2 years. The receptionist is friendly and they process you quickly, however, it seems as if the office is either understaffed or run inefficiently. The quality of care you receive depends solely on the physician you see. If you get Dr. Kline, you might as well just go home. He is condescending and cold to his patients. I have never been treated as poorly as I was by a physician. He makes you feel as if you are wasting his time.I would highly suggest Med Express corporate look into the facility and review some best practices with their staff. If you need care in the Altoona Area, unfortunately you are best served in the ER.
I went in there because I was throwing up for 4 days straight and started seeing blood in my spit after I threw up. I had to wait about an hour and a half before I got seen and I sat and thought to myself, I thought this place was called MedEXPRESS. When I finally got seen they asked me several questions about my conditions and gave me Zofran to help with my nausea which it did not help one bit. In the end they told me they could not figure out what was wrong with me and sent me to UPMC Altoona and I get they don’t have the medical expertise the hospital does but I called ahead and before coming here to verify I was going to the right place for treatment just to pay $50 copay for nothing. However the next week they were nice enough to call and check how I was doing which was nice of them.
I went into medexpress around 1030 on a Friday morning. It wasnt busy, only 2 other people sitting in the lobby. I got processed, saw the nurse and put into a room within 15-20 minutes and thought Id be out of there in no time. WRONG! An HOUR AND A HALF later, I still had not seen the doctor! When he(Dr. Kline) finally came in, he laughed and said sorry, we forgot about you. WHAT!? So I sat in that room for almost 2 hours only to see the doctor for a mere 5 minutes because him and his staff forgot about me? Boy am I glad I wasnt dying. For a place that says that provide fast and generous care, I got neither. And its sad to know that Ill get a bill in the mail soon for care I didnt even receive. Absolutely ridiculous.
I came in for a simple pre employment physical and PPD. I was told when I arrived in the morning that they were out of the PPD and I could call back at 230pm that day to see if they received their shipment. When I called back at 230pm, I was told we received our shipment but have not went through it yet and was told to call back after 3pm. Mind you, I live 35 mins away and had stayed in Altoona all day to get this done. By that point I was so mad, I just went home to relieve by babysitter so I could see my kids. I came back again today, two days later, and was told they did not have an auth # from employer. I called employer and they were to fax over. I sat there another 20 mins and went up to desk and asked receptionist if she received a fax. She said no. I called my employer yet again and they faxed right after I called the first time. My employer ended up having to call and speak to them directly to get things done. 10 mins later I was called into the room to get the PPD and was told they will not do physical until I return to have it read. Never in my life have I ever had so much hassle and run around to get something so simple done. I feel that things at this office could definitely be run a lot smoother. I do not recommend you come here unless you want to wait for ever for the simpilest things. Definitely not recommend for true emergency.
Very, very, very, very, very slow. Several hours just to get a drug screening. I get people need covid testing, but come on. It takes all of 2 minutes for me to walk back there and piss in a little plastic tube. How long do you expect people to sit in your waiting room, unable to use the bathroom? -_-
Been sitting here with my husband waiting to be seen for 1 hour and 32 minutes now. We arent even sick, he just needs a physical. But considering that everyone else that has come in after us has already served their waiting sentence and been seen by the doctor and sent out and about to enjoy the rest of their Saturday, Im sure we probably have contracted a germ or five since weve been here. They also made us pay upfront, so I guess we are in it until their services are rendered regardless of how long it takes unless we forfeit that money....Honest review: unless its cold outside (or too hot) and youre homeless and have no where else to go, I wouldnt recommend this place. If you are homeless however, it would be a great place to get warm/cooled off from 8 am until 8 pm each day! 😝Update: He was finally called back approximately 1 hour and 42 minutes after our arrival. His waiting sentence had finally been served, but mine continues. Seventeen minutes have sinced passed since he was called back and here I am.....all alone in the same chair that I have had my rump planted in for the past two hours. I hope he comes out soon. I may have to register myself and waiting another 3 hours to have the bedsores that I am in the process of creating on my posterior reigion looked at. 🙄Another update: because boredom is at its all time high right now, so Ive converted a simple review into a 3 hour written documentary. My husband has been absent from the waiting room for approximately 45 minutes now. Im giving him another 15 minutes and then I am going to consider driving to the local police department to file a missing persons report.....Final update: 3 hours and 8 minutes after our arrival, we are finally free to go with a CDL physical in hand. Relief is not a strong enough word for what I am feeling right now. I plan to call our regular doctor first thing Monday morning to schedule his next physical that is due two years from now just to avoid this place......The plus side of this place: Its well decorated and very clean inside. And best of all, the place closes at 8 and its summer time, so you are guaranteed approximately 31 minutes of daylight before the sun sets if you are forced to come here.
Boy do I HATE this urgent care. Come on Altoona, get some better healthcare and competition. This place is slow, staff has terrible bedside manners and poor clinical staff and doctor care. I’m sitting in the waiting room, after 30 minutes, and no one has come out or gone in. It’s not packed in here but there are very few staff members. No one is in a rush or concerned with getting patients seen. I have never experienced slower service! Let’s get some competition with Patient First or someone else so there is some type of motivation for them to do their jobs.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. The front office woman I think her name was Jennifer with blondish brown hair was extremely rude and gave me an attitude the whole time during checkin for a drug screen. When i asked her a question she looked at me like i was stupid and shouldve known the answer. when she did answer my question she was very short and had an impatient tone like i was an inconvenience. after she was done checking me in she proceeded to text on her phone and leave the front window unattended. The clinical staff isnt bad, but the front office lady really needs to be reevaluated and taught to treat patients with respect instead of showing how inconvenient it is for her that people need to be seen when they go into the facility.
I was seen in a timely manner. The nurses who saw me were ultra professional and caring .They did their jobs with great skill and should be examples for all nurses .Also Doctor Philip Roberts who saw me was very professional and knowledgeable and still had compassion .They diagnosed me pretty fast gave me a shot a breathing treatment and some meds. Both the nurses and the doctor spent time explaing to me what to expect in the coming days and what to do as follow up with my p c ,It is a shame this doctor does not have a private practice down here I would recommend this place 150 percent
I had horrible service as soon as i walked in. My mother had to pick me up from work due to being bit and having an allergic reaction. Walked through the door and showed the front desk lady the back of my leg as she asked for my ID. Which wasn’t the thing I was worried about when my mom was picking me up from work and she refused to provide me care. Horrible attitude and horrible service. Not only was this the first time I have received horrible service, this is the third time!! WILL NEVER BE RETURNING :)
Went here on a Sunday with a steadily full waiting room. I was in and out in two hours, which may seem like a long time, but it is walk-in care (Ive spent longer with scheduled appointments elsewhere) and for me this included a breathing treatment. Everyone was friendly and organized. Youre processed in different areas while you wait (check-in, then insurance gathering, then vitals, etc.) which breaks up the wait itself. Dr. Hainley was great: no nonsense, professional, and showed me a better inhalant technique; and she checked on me after the breathing treatment as well. A few days later, the office called to check on me (first Ive ever had this experience). Initially had reservations reading some reviews but many seemed based on the attending physician; at the check-in window theres a sign telling you who the attending doctor is that day, and if it says Hainley you should be in good hands. But again, all the staff I encountered (at least 4) were focused, pleasant, and professional.
When it is 6 in the evening and you are feeling terrible, but not so bad to justify paying the huge ER bill the MedExpress provides a great option. I have always received reasonable care here, good enough care that I dont hesitate to go back. It is a busy place so go expecting to wait a few minutes.
I went on Saturday for a kidney infection. They told me Id have results in 2 to 3 days. Its now Monday and after calling each day and them telling me to call back...and mind you I had to keep calling my urologist and they kept calling medexpress the Dr calls me today and says Someone misplaced your urine so it never got sent out and since you have i.c. you need to go to your urologist. Are you telling me they couldve told me or my urologist sooner!! I cant believe this. There is no excuse for this to happen!
I went in with a 2nd degree burn on my hand a few days ago. They quickly treated me, with silver sulfadiazine cream and a shot for pain. All nurses I came in contact with were friendly and the one that took my vitals and wrapped my burn up, was especially great. I was seen by a P.A., Jenna, I believe. She explained everything clearly and had the nurse come back in and fix me up. My experience was fast and definitely helpful in my painful experience. They even called to follow up and see how my wound was doing. Completely pleased!
Dont waste your money. I paid $50 saw a doctor for 2 minutes and left with a diagnosis of upper respiratory and congestion. When I specifically said I had no congestion and my main issue was a cough. I also took my son here and they said he had a cold. His fever got worse that night so I took him to the doctor the next day and they diagnosed him with strept. I will not be returning here unless it is my only option.
Was sent here as part of a pre employment drug screening. Horrible service.Showed up 45 minutes before the time on the paper. Was told AFTER we waited 30 minutes (after being checked in) that they couldnt complete the test due to them not entering the info in their system till 2 minutes past the deadline.I was not told when I checked in that I couldnt be seen. I am not happy my time was wasted.I wish they would list the correct time on their forms.I cant comment about the specific doctors as that wasnt why I was there.I did notice that the waiting room was full and patients were waiting a long time though.
My son was in severe pain due to a migraine headache (which we were not aware he had at the time), so we went to MedExpress at 7:40pm. This is approximately 20 minutes before the offices closes, but I assumed this would not be an issue due to my sons condition. When we walked in, the receptionist audibly groaned and yelled to one of the other medical assistance to turn her car off now, because we have someone that just walked in!. She then acknowledged us with an eye roll and a sigh asking for our information. I asked if this was a bad time to come in, but she rolled her eyes at my statement. Furious, I informed her that we could leave if this was an inconvenience, which made her realize how angry her attitude was making me in these circumstances. I will never go back to this facility and hope that this review makes their management re-evaluate how their staff treats its patients.
I came here today after my daughters pediatrician highly recommended that I get tested for step, since she tested positive and I didnt sound or look to good either. I got there a little after 3 and never got seen until alot 415/430. The male doctor seemed terribly ticked that I was even there. I have a terrible wet/hoarse cough, weezing when I breath, and on and off fevers. His response to me was Why would you come for a strep test when you have zero out of 4 symptoms of strep? I explained that the pediatrician wanted me to be seen since my 2 year old tested positive an I have a 3 month old at home. He went for the results and came back and said just as I figured, its negative, you can leave now When I asked for a prescription to help with the cold he diagnosed me with he told me to put honey in my tea and use a humidifier. He also stated that I didnt even have a cough... I guess me coughing up yellow mucous for 4 days and going into 5 minute coughing/gaging fits doesnt constitute as a cough to him. So i guess Ill just go home with my sick 2 year old who needs her mommas attention and a baby, feeling miserable for another week. Thanks for helping me! I personally didnt think I had strep but would of felt awful if i did and didnt get tested an treated and passed it to the baby. When the pediatrician recommended I go I figured that Id at least get something to make me feel better, and help with this awful cough that has me up at 2am.... but nope.
Im from Florida so I have no dr here in Altoona so I went to MedExpress! They were awesome , very friendly, fast clean and I was so impressed with the staff, within 30 minutes I walked out with my prescription in my hand, I paid $15 for an antibiotic because they cant bill my insurance co for prescriptions , I told the girl I pay $27 in Florida for the same script and thats my copay! I am feeling better already! Thank you for your service
Granddaughter visiting from out of state and was complaining ear hurt and had flu like symptoms. Since she had a fever it was obvious for an infection. No treatment given. Took to ER right after because it is absurb to not give an antibiotic for an ear infection.Severe ear infection and positive for flu. Go to the ER for effective treatment and proper diagnosis. Do NOT go here unless you are looking for a band aid station. Go to an ER!
I went there yesterday and was treated rudely by the doctor. This is the first time in my life that I was ever disrespected by a fellow medical professional. She never listened to my description of the symptoms and refused to hear the history of the injury. She basically yelled at me and said that I should hurry up because there were other, more important patients to see. I had felt like I pinched a while bending, over a prior injury in which I already have a herniated disc. She only checked me for a muscle injury and when I tried to explain my symptoms, she cut me off and said that I should have stayed home on ice and not bothered to come in to the clinic. Good idea for next time. They wasted my time and my $40. THen she said to rest but that I was perfectly fine to work that night. I am an RN who works in a hospital and does total patient care. WOW never expected to pay to be treated like that. BTW this is Amy Popovich, not Lori
Came in for a routine urine test and Ive been sitting here well over an hour waiting. Thank God I didnt come ready to pee. Go somewhere else for routine procedures, I wish I would have.Doctor turned it around by being quick with my physical and very nice. God bless her
Stopped on Labor Day weekend because of a severely painful impacted and infected wisdom tooth. Could not see a dentist because of the long holiday weekend. Staff was very helpful. Was checked in, saw a nurse and doctor and had meds called in all with in 35 minute despite being a busy day. Thank you! Would recommend over the ER any day!
I would NEVER go here again nor would I recommend it to anyone. I usually prefer Urgent Care over the ER but you will get better care in the ER. I took my son and the doctor told me he had an ear infection but wouldnt give me anything for it, so now we have to pay another copay at our pediatrician. The doctor also left the room and came back 20 minutes later to tell me there was nothing he could do we just have to watch and we could go... why did he leave and come back? Why make me wait? Why not just tell me. I felt like he was googling my sons symptoms. Dr. Kline was a jerk!!
Med Express said they would do a drug test for me but needed a printout of the email sent to me by my employer. So I had to go to my local library quick to print it out. Then when I got back they said they couldn’t do the test because something about a paper trail? Either way they messed up my whole morning. They obviously have no idea what they are doing there.
I brought my son here for a school physical. This place lost my paperwork and the only good service was the nice young lady that answered the phone when I called. Wish I remembered her name but she was so polite and seemed so friendly I decided to bring my boy in to this place. Afterall employees are a reflection of their place of employment and of their employers. The provider seemed irritated to do his job and was rude. I will never come here again. I dont understand how anyone can be in this profession if they dont enjoy helping others. In this profession it is useful to not bringing whatever personal problems into work in order to exercise clear judgement for their treatment. Going to take my family elsewhere and I will be praying for you Doc.
Im seeing a lot of bad reviews on here so maybe I got lucky or maybe people are a little harsh. That aside every single nurse I had a dialogue with was pleasent even when it was quite literally filled to capacity. Efficient care, clear articulation on procedures I was undergoing and even a follow up call. Keep it up.
Been here an hour and havent made it past the arrogant receptionist with the jail house tattoos. Your process for filling out information forms is ridiculous , give all the forms at once instead of individually filling out one form only to take it to the window to get another form.. This place is a joke.. if it wouldnt be a referral from my daughters employer, I would have walked right out of here and went to our family doctor.. Dont go here..
I am from a bigger city and am used to Med Express but not the one in Altoona. This one was packed and was very slow. I was seen by Michael Kline for unexplained severe nose bleeds. He couldnt do much for me since they do not have specialized ENT instruments there and while I admit that his personality was lacking, I did not find him rude. He took blood work and called promptly the next day with the results and was kind on the phone.
I was unaware they could denie medical treatment to a child bc I misplaced her medical card!! Very disappointed States urgent care...its not like they dont have a billing department to get her info it was the evening before thanksgiving the lady was rude and it was 730 they closed at 8 im sure she just wanted to go home my 4 yr old daughter was complaing of an ear ache...told me I could self pay but I couldnt call in with the info Friday morning!!! Glad she wasnt bleeding to death! And of course that wasnt my only issue they wouldnt see my pregnant daughter because she wasnt 18...So please tell me what Altoona conciders and emergency!!!
Quacks - stopped here on the way home from DC. wife had a sinus infection and couldnt stand to drive - Dr told my wife no infection and sent her on her way - stopped for the night because she couldnt stand it, saw another doctor who prescribed an antibiotic - she slept on that nd we made it home the next day - BAD SERVICE, MISDIAGNOSIS, FAILED TO FOLLOW STANDARD PROTOCOL FOR CARE - and now they want $60 co-pay plus some other BS they tacked on. Dont waste your time or money here - quack doctor and slow to beat hell!
I was very sick with vertigo and went to MedExpress for help, the doctor did not even examine me. He looked at a med i take and told me it was my medication and sent me home. Turns out, I went to a specialist and I was having migraines that caused the dizziness. I had never had either of them before so I did not know what was going on, but it had nothing to do with the med I was on. I am very upset with them and will never go back.
If I could give less than 1 star I would....my father was brought in for pain and redness in his leg....he had recently got back from a vacation and the doctors checked him out and said that he had cellulitis which is a bacterial infection....they said it couldve entered into his bloodstream from ocean water through an open sore....he was prescribed antibiotics and he noticed his leg getting worse and he his circulation was poor....we took him into the er and they found that he has a blood clot in his leg that couldve travelled elsewhere and killed him...…………..I will never trust my loved ones care in the hands of med express.....save yourself the misdiagnoses and go to the er where they actually care enough to give you blood tests xray doppler etc....knowing that I couldve lost my dad because of medexpresss carelessness is sickening...…….

2022-05-23If I could give no stars I would. I am just astonished how my family was treated yesterday 05/23/2022 including myself. I have a family of 4 and all of us needed to be seen. I called to register and they told me I had to register from my phone via text. Okay, no problem. I hung up and proceeded. It was severely hot outside. We all are fevered, and dehydrated from being so sick. I also have a hoopty with no AC. So we was blantly getting miserable. My phone was overheating and would not register. So, I called into the office They only registered my boyfriend and, when I went to get on the phone to register my 2 children and myself. I was hung up on. So, I called back trying to register us again. Meanwhile its already been 30 minutes not even being registered. They kept transferring me... Finally I got through and the lady was giving me a hard time about not having a email to put on file. She then had me on hold for another 15 minutes before I decided to hangup and call back. I called back and explained my frustrations trying to get us registered and the nurse was yelling over me on the phone. She was telling me not to argue with her (it takes two to argue) I was simply telling her why I couldnt register through via text. I needed to register over the phone. She then, tells me that she has patients to care for and Im wasting her time. I was absolutely astonished, upset, and distressed. I went the day previous and there was a 3 hour wait. I felt so bad for my sick toddlers in the back and it felt like we was being refused care. I told her to f**** off and I hung up. I will NEVER return to this med express even if I was dying. Highly dont recommend.

2022-01-08I just wanted to say my experience here was great. In fact every time I have been in for myself or another family member was very smooth process with great people.... when you treat them like people and not yell at them and talk down to them. I have sat in the building and heard the way patients just rip into the poor staff for next to nothing. How would they like to spend 8-12 hours a day with people constantly yelling at you for something out of your control? The people on here complaining dont seem to understand what the employees are going through. Does your doctor office see you without an appointment? Do they see you when their appointments are filled for the day? Do you get frustrated when you go to the hospital and have to wait 5, 6, 7 hours or more? Absolutely you do. That is part of the reason they do stop sometimes and allow the doctors to catch up instead of piling on even more and more patients. They are not a 24 hour facility that can just let people sit and wait and wait. Yes the wait times are high because they are picking up the slack of the other doctor offices and dept of health in the area who arent bothered to do covid testing. (two testing sites in almost two years is a joke dept of health) Their time is unfortunately being taken up doing covid testing on people who want to go on vacation or to a concert. That isnt the fault of the people in the building it is the fault of their corporate offices. Grow up and stop giving the employees such a hard time when they have been showing up everyday to treat the people during this almost two years when the rest of the county has forgot about you. Why give them a hard time when your own family doctor wont see you until you get a covid test somewhere else? Discuss that with your doctor instead. Try speaking to them without yelling and you would be surprised how nice they can actually be. I for one am very grateful to have them in the area and will continue to us them.

2022-03-30I was seen today March 29th, 2022 by a nurse practitioner at your Altoona facility named Desiree Williams.I had previously been seen on Sunday for symptoms that included chest and nasal congestion, headaches, cough, and general feeling of unwell. I had been unwell for about 24-48 hours prior to being seen at Medexpress. When I saw the PA on Sunday she gave me a short burst of steroids and told me I should return if my symptoms worsened.Last night I began coughing up and blowing from my nose a thick green mucus, I have lost my voice, and am generally feeling worse. As I have severe asthma and I am on Cimzia (to treat Ankylosing Spondylitis), which suppresses your immune system, I felt it would be in my best interest to return. I have been hospitalized on several occasions previously when something like this had not been treated promptly. From the moment Ms. Williams entered the exam room she was condescending and dismissive. She repeatedly told me I simply had a cold and that she just had a cold for 5 days and I just had to deal with it. I explained to her my condition with asthma and the immunosuppressive medication I am on, she wasnt hearing of it. I also informed her that both a close friend and my grandmother currently have pnemonia and she proceeded to tell me pnemonia is not contagious. This was brand new information to me as not only recent and past experience with pnemonia have proven it to be contagious, but the Cleveland Medical Center and the American Lung Associated both say that pnemonia is, in fact, contagious. I explained to her that mucinex was no longer working. She offered a cough suppressant and an antibiotic I would be allowed to fill after 5 days. This, she claimed was because a virus couldnt turn into a bacterial infection before 5 days was up. Please keep in mind, I have been ill since Friday. Now, Im no mathematician, but Friday to Tuesday adds up to five days. Given viruses and bacterial infections always use a human time table to advance. When I attempted to reiterate my chronic conditions she rolled her eyes at me, which she claimed was just blinking. At that point I ended the visit.I have been able to schedule with my primary care physician tomorrow, which means any treatment I need will be delayed as they could not fit me in today despite their best efforts. Why on Earth would anyone want to visit your clinic. I surely will not after my experience today.UPDATE: I wanted to take a moment to update you after yesterdays visit to your clinic. I visited my PCPs office today. After an examination I have been told that I have fluid in my ears, swollen lymph nodes, and an irritated throat in top of my severe congestion. The PA at my doctors office as well as the nurse could not understand why your clinic did not provide me with antibiotics as I am on an immunosuppressive drug and a little infection can turn big for me.I have been placed on amoxicillin to treat a sinus infection as well as any potential pnemonia. If I am not on the mend by Friday I will need chest xrays.

2022-05-29Ive been at the Altoona medexpress more times than I wanted to be. If it was an airport Id get frequent flyer miles. Ive never had a bad experience there. The wait can be long sometimes but your going to have that at any medical center. Ive sat in the hospital emergency room at lot longer than I ever did at medexpress. I was always treated with respect. They ask questions and cover all the bases. They never disrespected me and were always super friendly. The workers there are human. Put yourself in their shoes. I bet a lot of people complaining would have a different attitude if they had to deal with people complaining all day. People tend to treat people the same way they treat them. Sometimes you cant even park in the parking lot because they are so busy. Yeah, your going to have a long wait

2022-06-02My son was sick. It was his allergies. I knew it was his allergies from our cats. We got there at 9:17 am. But because he was coughing, no COVID-19 vaccine, not COVID-19 tested, but didnt have any other COVID-19 symptoms, we had to stay out in our car in very hot weather. We didnt get to enter the building until 11:50am. People were just going in and coming out before us. It seemed as though people they suspected of having COVID or had COVID symptoms was using one room. But, we get in and the doctor comes back after waiting for 20 more minutes. She checks him out and it was his allergies just severely acting up and another ear infection even though he just stopped his antibiotics three days before for his other ear being infected and his PCP cleared him at his follow up two days prior. We were out of there at 12:25pm. We were sent on our way with another antibiotic and told to buy OTC allergy meds. Obviously I was giving my son OTC allergy medicine and his prescription allergy medicine. Along with breathing treatments and his inhaler, but nothing was working for him to stop coughing and catch his breath. I just wish they would have taken more time with him and actually gave me a different solution to then what I was already doing. If they thought he was so contagious we had to stay out in the car, shouldnt they have at least tested him for COVID since he wasnt? I dont know. I am starting not to like doctors. Patients anymore are just seen as $$, you dont get good quality doctors much anymore.

2022-06-19If I could give negative stars, I would. I came in at 830am and the lady was rude and told me I had no business being in the building due to being congested and mentioning I have a cough. Then Im told to check in with them on the phone through a text message and Id be called shortly. I sat in my vehicle for 3 entire hours only to call in and be told its only a 1 and a half to 2 hour wait. If that were true I wouldve been in and out before 10am. I will never return to this business. Its proven to be a total joke honestly.

2022-06-10Everyone I had contact with was professional, courteous, and very helpful. The QR code outside for registration was a little off-putting to this almost 50-year-old, but I stumbled through. I preferred not waiting in a waiting room, but in the comfort of my vehicle. The registration staff on the phone and in person, the xray tech, and especially CRNP Desiree Williams were all very pleasant and professional (and I was the last or next to last patient on a Friday night). It took a couple tries to get my finger undislocated, but Im very grateful I was not in a hospital ED for hours. I drove 45 minutes from Everett, passing up the ED 10 minutes away (I hope this will be cheaper even though anything would be out of network). Mantra: be kind and treat others as youd like to be treated!

2022-06-16Was in a car accident - Monday, Jun 13, 2022 - with a Chevy pickup that ran a stop sign and threw myself and my partner across the intersection and totalled her vehicle. She came here for an exam and had x-rays ordered for her neck and ribcage along with an Rx for painkillers and muscle relaxers by the PA on shift, who stated verbally to my partners face that she would have a return to work excuse dated for Friday, Jun 17 so that she would not be punished by her employer for missing work. One day later, we looked at the paperwork and noticed there was no specific return to work date, no restrictions, etc. After 3 unsuccessful phone calls and an attempted intervention by my partners HR manager, the employees at medexpress have fought tooth and nail to deny her an amended work excuse, claiming that not only could they not change anything since the same PA was not on shift, but that the PA was allegedly not scheduled to return to work any time in the future. The complete lack of empathy or cooperation on the behalf of medexpress employees is now resulting in my partner being at risk of losing her job. All because a single medical professional either made a small clerical error or straight up lied to her face - WE WERE LITERALLY HIT BY A TRUCK.Take my advice - go to the Altoona hospital instead.
