Nice large portion of the Brussels sprouts appetizer, quite shocked they give that much for $10 actually. Very good onion soup and burger. Truffle fries were quite tasty. Nice variety of beers on tap and cans. Was surprised to not see any type of Oktoberfest or seasonal type outside of some stouts, but good beers none the less.
Delicious food and a great vibe at this local establishment. I have been here before under another name but the food and some of the servers remain in top form. The shrimp po boy was absolutely overflowing with delicious fried shrimp. I had to eat half of them before being able to close the sandwich. Definitely something I would order again. My friends had the fried chicken sandwich and the burger. Both looked tasty and were devoured quickly. The fried zucchini was crisped to perfection too. Im glad I got to visit this place again! I will be back for sure.
Love this small business, neighborhood gastropub - call directly and they’ll deliver in no time. Always friendly and professional staff. I usually have their veggie burger with a green goddess dressing, feta and sweet potato fries, but got their Maine lobster ravioli as a treat for Valentine’s Day. Nothing left on my plate :)
Overall, not bad.The good: good beer selection at reasonable prices for Philly. Staff was friendly. Food looked and tasted good. They have fun things on the menu - vegan wings, beignets! The not great: Staff werent too attentive - we had to ask for things more than once and keep reminding them.Serving sizes varied - one entree was skimpy, one was normal. House salad could use something in addition to onions and tomatoes. Food came out in weird stages, appetizer after our entrees, that made the experience less enjoyable.Ill probably try it again due to my affection for the location (the bar is where the old Goat Hollow used to be in the Mt. Airy neighborhood).
I am very glad that they are able to stay open during the current lock down. They do take out and local delivery. The food is excellent. They are very easy to do business with. We had the Fish and Chips and the Steak Frits. Both were excellent and the portions were very generous. Highly recommend. Will definitely return. And look forward to being able to go there in person soon.
We ordered take out two nights in a row from two different places. The first place was twice as expensive, the portions were smaller, the wait was longer. The second night was from Mt Airy Tap Room. Food was ready in 15 minutes, literally half the price (I ordered the same dish at both places), the portion was twice the size and sooo delicious. I love getting to support amazing local businesses like this one- do not skip over this place!!
I cannot overstate how good the food here is. Fairly simple fare, but done incredibly. Their seafood is always cooked *just* enough, never overdone. Their burger I honestly believe is one of the best in the city. Im an avid home cook and often struggle to find affordable restaurants that dont disappoint. MATR delivers without fail. Genius chef, incredibly friendly staff and manager, I love this place.
Food is amazing. It’s hard to narrow down to one specific dish because everyone in our group ordered something different and we all loved our choice. I would have to say salmon, although the burger might be the next thing I try. Make sure you save room for dessert. Again, we all ordered something different and cleaned our plates. My vote is the beignets. Great beer selection too, although I forget what I ordered.
We were looking for a place to eat and get good drinks on a late Sunday Night. So glad we found this gem !Space layout is beautiful . Staff was very friendly and courteous. Greg our Bartender was awesome! This place has an upstairs in case it gets crowded ,and a beautiful outdoor patio for warm weather. I’m strongly recommending this venue for rehearsal dinners and gatherings. The drinks great! Beer selection is outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the crab crake and fries. My friend had the MATR burger. This place is our new favorite spot. Run don’t walk . I’ll be back for sure to try the dessert menu next.
Had takeout from Mount Airy tap room last night for the first time. It was top notch. Fish and chips were outstanding cod and great french fries; Take the brussels sprouts as your side; you won’t be disappointed. I am excited to eat at their location when Covid is behind us.
Great new place in Germantown! Good location if you live there. Food is great, crab cake and caesar salad were excellent, the hummus plate was delicious too. Laurie was a good waitress and Chef Richard knows how to present a dish right. The prices are also very affordable. Ill definitively be back, especially for a future football game.
My favorite tap house in Philadelphia. The staff is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable. The beer selection is excellent, I ordered the Beer Hates Astronauts (Double IPA) is without question the best IPA I have had. The server also was knowledgeable on the area and made some wonderful recommendations on what to do in the City itself.
One of our favorite local spots. We have been continuing to get takeout from here during the COVID-19 lockdown because they offer pick up food and beer to go!Im vegetarian but my wife is not, but there are plenty of options for both of us now that they have expanded their menu. Their seitan wings are great, we both like them quite a bit, and Im a big fan of their salads while my wife likes their mac and cheese. If youre looking for a quick local bite and some good beers on tap, look no further.
I visited the Mount Airy Tap Room this past Sunday for their soft opening and Eagles opener. This building has housed the legendary Burbas, original Goat Hollow and later several faltering Iterations on the neighborhood bar theme. First of all, the place looked great. They added a few nice size TVs so the game could be viewed from anywhere in the bar. The beer menu was well rounded and reasonably priced. We only had the wings, which were well prepared, but diners at other tables seemed to enjoy their meals.I am looking forward to the Mount Airy Tap Room being a great success. Best of luck!!!
Weve loved this space since it was Goat Hollow, and its about the same, minus the wood burning stove (which we really miss in the winter!!). The menu is solid. I keep ordering the Bahn Mi hoping that itll have more flavor, but its always oddly bland and kind of dry. Otherwise, a great visit with great service.

2022-03-23This is a nice neighborhood bar. They have a large beer menu and good cocktails. Their food comes in generous portions, it is generally good but it tends to be a bit heavy. The pan fried trout which they have as a special sometimes is excellent. The staff is friendly and welcoming.

2022-02-07Drinks were great, food was good, the experience went from fine to uncomfortable and unwelcoming. Ordered food through doordash (that is what google directed us to when “order food” was the option) needed something to pick up on our way home, pick up time 7pm. Sat outside for over 20 minutes, food wasn’t ready, figured let’s go inside and order drinks. Received our food at 7:52, bartender (or owner? manager?) felt it was appropriate to tell us that we shouldn’t have ordered from third party if we planned to come inside and drink. Correct, we should have just came inside and ordered food and drinks directly, but our plan was just to pick up and plans changed when the wait turned into 50 minutes longer. Is it better to not support the business at all? Or except that we ordered food through a third party and decided to also support by buying four drinks at the bar while we waited? The passive aggressive comments were inappropriate.

2022-04-04I am new to the area and have been looking for good local spots. I read the reviews here and took my husband and parents here for my birthday. Omg the food is amazing! I got the shrimp po boy and it’s in an herbed batter, the sandwich is so large, great portions and just really delicious. My husband is a vegetarian and was very impressed with their seitan wings. I’m currently pregnant but my dad and hubs were impressed with their beer selection. Everyone enjoyed the food. A great local spot!!

2022-03-03I went on a date here, and had a wonderful experience. Our server Greg was Top Notch along with one other server whose name I did not catch a young woman who was very attentive. The entrees...So The fish & chips was delicious, the fish taste fresh and juicy and fries to an amazing crisp. We also had the parmesan fries with truffles in those were well made too (needed a lil more cheese but not bad) along with the Po Boy. We tried the Brussels sprouts appetizers and I dont normally like BP but these were DELICIOUS!! I was surprised. definitely would recommend!

2022-02-05I ordered a medium well steak to go. When I returned home, the steak was charred and tough and extremely well done. I called to let the restaurant know of my dissatisfaction. They wouldn’t do anything and seemed to not care that I didn’t enjoy my food, after waiting about 50 mins to get the food after I was told 25 minutes. Very disappointed in the food and service.

2021-10-23Stellar food every some. The shrimp poboy and chicken sandwiches are fantastic, as is the cajun pasta. Though their plain fries are just that, a bit plain.Theyve recently added a beer garden and its beautiful.

2022-05-08Great local place. Good drinks, excellent service--and the shrimp po-boy is terrific--as is their food generally.

2022-04-07Uncomfortable server who very aggressively upsold. Despite that, couldnt find him after our food came until 40 mins later when we finally flagged him down for the check. Our mussels were inedible - I mean literally could not pull out of the shell without turning the mussel into a thin rubber-band lump, basically disintegrating. We thought it would be a cozy, local tavern, and instead it was very unwelcoming with bad food and service too.
