Ive been fostering with PAWS for the last year and its been an incredible experience. I cannot speak highly enough of the whole staff. They are fantastic and take amazing care of all the animals they work with. The low cost vet clinic is a good option for the community and they do what they can to keep pets in loving homes.
Love Paws! The clinic is clean and efficient. The staff is always pleasant. It’s important to schedule appointments in advance for check ups. Don’t wait for when your furry baby’s are sick. Preventative care is so important. I just visited them for their yearly check up, one needs to go to a vet that can perform yet they cleaning because the vet noticed a little redness in her gums. She also has a small hot spot that is being treated. Office visits are $25.00 not including medication, etc. but very inexpensive. I could go to a fancy vet but I’d rather support Paws and help support a good cause! On the weekends they offer vaccinations without an appointment. I believe it costs $25.00 per animal. $10.00 for nails clipped.I would highly recommend Paws!
Highly recommend this clinic! The price for spay/neuter, plus microchip, and vaccine is way cheaper than any other clinics I have been to. They also provide wellness check service. The staffs were amazing and very informative of the process and aftercare. Got all my fur babies spay/neutered here and they recovered within a week with no complications :)
We had the greatest experience adopting our cats from Paws! The process was very seamless. We submitted our application for two cats, and then we were able to reach out directly to the foster parent for more info. I found this so helpful because the foster parent was able to give us so much specific information about each cats personality and history. We then were able to meet them virtually while our application was being processed. It did take about a week and a half to process our application (due to covid times and the Thanksgiving holiday), which we totally understood! Once we were approved, we met the cats and were able to take them home the same day. Our home has been so much more lively and warm since adopting these two. Thank you immensely to the staff and volunteers at Paws for allowing us to adopt these two sweet girls!
For years I’ve always taken my cat to a typical vet for her shots. I was then told that PAWs on Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s has a clinic that you can just walk in between 10am-4pm with no appointment and for less then half of what I bet charges will give your cat/dog their yearly shots. They treat my cat great and it’s inexpensive! I highly recommend bringing your pet to PAWs!
The staff here are wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. They make you feel very comfortable & you really have the sense that they love taking care of the animals. I would encourage & recommend those who are seeking adoption to definitely visit here. I enjoyed my experience.
To say the least.. I do not recommend this place at all. I was given medicine for my pet while also being told he was completely fine. I was told, seeing blood dripping from his ears was nothing to worry about... of course much later after using their snake oil medicine that I apparently didn’t even need, it was discovered our pup actually had ear mites... poor puppy had to suffer so much longer because they played games and scammed us in the process. Shameful practice.. absolutely do not recommend.
Recently adopted our beautiful 1.5 year old cat from PAWS and the experience was nothing short of incredible! The application process took a little while, and the cats flew off the adoption website, but the physical experience at the adoption center was so easy.I can’t remember the name of who helped us, but he was wearing a Christmas themed face mask and he was so helpful answering all of our questions! Highly recommend!!
I was honored to foster for PAWS but my happiness was taken away because of their miscommunication. I spoke with a PAWS worker named Steve two weeks ago because I was interested in adopting my foster (Bloom) whom I was very attached to and so was my child. A few days later she was never give them back to me after she was spayed. Thanks to Tammy Miller and the director from Grays ferry I feel an emptiness. You guys would rather keep these animals in cages for weeks and months at a time before finding them loving home.
Had an appt to have my cat OJ neutered on 4/9/20. Paws called me and cancelled due to covid-19. Now they are back working. Called but you can only leave message. Said dont call back. Its been three weeks and no call back. Even sent them a text. No answer. At this point, Im going to find somewhere else since my cat is spraying all over my house. Wouldnt even rate them with one star. Rate them zero. They suck 😅
Best staff, efficiently run, well worth the wait. I cant say enough about this place. The staff were caring and attentive and actually showed compassion toward owners and pets. Very knowledgeable. They actually didnt act like this was a job, I was very impressed. When I was picking up my female dog after surgery, which by the way they texted me to tell me she did well and was resting, she had a couple accidents when she got excited seeing me. They did even blink an eye. One of the techs grabbed a mop and cleaned it up, no complaints and actually tried to comfort me because she saw I was embarrassed. This team is the best. Other Vets could take a lesson from this place.
Love this place!! Like most people, money becomes an issue when needing to take their animal to the vet. The prices arent crazy which is important. I believe they put the animals best interest first and dont over charge like most places. Makes it easier for people who many not be able to afford a vet care but care about their babies to know when or if they need a drs visit. Thank you for being available to help our family members!
PAWS helped out a friend of mine who homed a pregnant stray. They spayed, chipped, vaccinated, clipped nails for momma (Frances) and the girl kitten Snoo. They also plan to neuter, chip, and vax the 3 boy kittens. I really appreciate the service and care they provided at reasonable rates for this new fur family!
This place is impossible. They don’t pick up and will ONLY call you back but not knowing when you may not be able to pick up. They don’t schedule vet exams even wellness unless 1 week prior, and that’s assuming you connect, an unpredictable process. My daughter who brought her dog and mine TODAY was met by a staff who YELLED at her, and which she attributed to same person BEING ANGRY AT ME! What? Same person did call me, revealed she was doing a lot, but seemed and ok w me when receiving cc info. Maybe tone differs when $ is involved? There is great need for a service as this with reduced pricing for many as I w very limited means. BUT IT SHOULD RUN PROFESSIONALLY W REASONABLE EFFICIENCY IN KEEPING WITH THEIR LIMITED RESOURCES. Otherwise a client will suspect quality of vet care and PROFICIENCY of vets hired/VET AND STAFF BURN OUT IF OVEREXTENDED. AND, UNDER ALL CIRCUMSTANCES, EVEN W CERTAIN CUSTOMER ANNOYANCES, THERE IS NEVER TO OCCUR AN ANGRY STAFF RAISING THEIR VOICE. That is a DEAL BREAKER IN ANY BUSINESS AND THIS ONE IS NOT EXEMPT. SO.. IF YOU CAN LIVE WITH ALL OF THESE NEGATIVES TO SAVE $50, ITS YOUR CALL. MY BUDGET DESPERATELY NEEDS THIS ALTERNATIVE BUT AS ADDED STRESS TO MY HEALTH SO MY DECISION IS TOTAKE MY LOSS AND GO TO AN OFFICE W NORMAL OPERATIONS.
I want to support PAWS. It is a wonderful cause and shelter for our soon to be adopted pets. The front desk and whomever answers the phone seem a little difficult to work with . I have 1dog and a 2 cats . All adopted! I go to PAWS for shots and when needing a pet neutered/spayed, and maybe a wellness check. Without PAWS I could not have 3 adopted pets. It is very costly to have a pet.
Always so friendly, helpful and they keep it clean! My pets adore everyone there . I suggest email them is best , they always get right back to you ! Also I foster for them as well ! Help save all the animals ! Its non profit so going here for your pets vet services is helping other animals ! And helps keep the cost down!
Clinic provides great services and have had great experiences with vets historicallytech with red hair who was handling vaccine appointments today seemed to be extraordinarily testy/foul-mooded when asked very politely about the vaccine process! Makes it seem like questions are unwelcome even when an owner shows up early for their appointment.I understand this is a non-profit clinic; however, every owner should feel comfortable bringing up concerns and understanding the clinic process upon arrival, even if only a brief period of explanation is practical. If you are someone who is going to get vaccines and an exam for your pet for the first-time, you may feel comfortable going elsewhere.
Angry people who seem to have little regard for animals. Was scared for my cats when I left them to get fixed. (Would have taken them back but was told “they aren’t mine” until they are fixed.) Had several touch points with paws Thru my foster and directly. Frequent rude curt communication. They did several things not in the interest and harmful to the pets. Very sad, like taking the kittens away from nursing mother too soon. Fix cat while she was nursing. Separated bonded pairs. Didn’t vett new owner or allow input from foster mom. Super rude and insensitive to me and questions I had about the fix. Slammed and locked door when I said I wanted to ask question. And on and on. I Do not recommend taking any animal here. Factory which cares nothing for cats lives or livelihood.
The vet was ok and the girl that was helping her but the ppl that work behind the desk were extremely rude. And the whole visit felt extremely rushed. And they never told me that they werent doing spay or neurtering anymore the whole reason i went there to begin with cuz i wanted to only have to take my dog to one place for everything. And they said they tried to call my dogs old vet to see what vaccines shes already had but couldnt get thru to them so my dog never ended up getting her vaccines. I hope my next visit is alot better....
Very wonderful atmosphere. The staff was very professional, friendly and informative as how to care for my cat Logan. I have already set another appointment for my cat because they are very knowledgeable yet affordable and I know they have the BEST interest for my Logan.
Took my cat in for shots and to be neutered. This is my first pet and I had a lot of questions but was told some info while I had a paper put in my face to read and sign (so I completely missed everything they said) and wasnt given an opportunity to ask questions. My cat also didnt receive the shot he needed so I made another appointment elsewhere.
Got there early stood in line, not too long. Signed papers and left Mister to get neutered. They called for me to come get him earlier, that was a plus. Was able to beat the traffic. He got home he was a little lucid. But after bot half hr. He was running around as usual. It cost me $70 to get neutered, booster shot and nails clipped. It was cheaper than the SPCA on Hunting Park. I had a great experience there.
Quick appointment scheduling staff is friendly and welcoming make you feel at ease leaving your pet with them. Spay neuter was done great along with vaccinations and shots deworming rabies shot flea treatment and more even nails cut all under $100 sooo affordable it doesn’t make sense to go anywhere else
PAWS is usually ok, when i take my dog there. Recently in march, my dog needed his flea and tick treatment and I got a script faxed from the animal hospital to PAWS to be filled. They would not fill it because I didnt personally bring it in to them. Hello!, we are in a pandemic, my dog was denied flea and tick treatment because it wasnt personally handed to the receptionist? Did the doctor think I was going to sell it on the street like an opioid? When I took my dog there late last year for his shots, they wouldnt even let me in the front door. I had to hand my dog over and stand in the freezing cold now they want me to bring in a script personally for flea and tick treatment? Does that make sense to anyone?
The life saving work of helping animals both pets and strays is done well with joy and love here. I had to surrender two cats that lived on my porch and they were so helpful. They are helping animals find homes at amazing rates like one and two weeks. And they give vet services for stray cats spay/neuter and return them back to their neighborhood for no charge. I will donate to PAWS now.
Paws is always super affordable and good. The only problem is i had to wait for a long time to make an appointment. After covid Its difficult to get them over phone to make an appointment. Finally i got the appointment and they are really good.Recommend it and would love to donate ❤️
Everything went great, had made an appointment through email, they were so booked and was able to squeeze me in within 2 weeks time.the girls were on top of everything, very professional, very knowledgeable and explained everything very thoroughly. the price for work done on your pet are very affordable. thank you very much for all you have done.
I brought in a feral gentle kind little cat 9 months old for TNR. The team there are very attentive, loving and caring towards animals. You have to get there between 8:00 and 9:00 in the morning to drop off. They do the procedure and you pick up between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. Everything was taken care of and done professionally and reasonably priced or free of charge.
I called and scheduled an appointment a week prior. First call went unanswered but the second one went through. In two minutes my appointment for my cat was set.Arriving to the location was easy, and finding parking was no issue because they have a lot.The receptionist mentioned that he would receive a free rabies shot with his neuter service which was a pleasant surprise. After checking my cat in for neutering, I was told he would be done around 4pm, but I got a call around 2pm notifying me he was ready for pick up.Upon pick up, I found out they clipped his claws for no fee as well. PAWS is an awesome organization and I appreciate the low cost services they offer. Definitely donate if you can!
The staff at the shelter needs to get correct facts before they ban someone from adoptingI’ve never saw my friend so upset over the staff not wanting to believe her side of the story Regarding a cat bite about 8 years ago on Christmas. That cat was taken from her it was not surrendered but this staff wants to hold onto to the idea Letty was surrendered. She was not My friend loves animals and just wanted to adopt an adult dog but us being told she surrendered a cat so she cannot adopt This is so unfair. With all the unwanted animals she’s willing to give one a homeIt’s sad knowing what they are doing because they are misinformed
So I called a couple of weeks ago to get my dog her shots up dates. The call then hang up on me right when i am talking. Then I call today and they say we are not giving any adult dogs shots. I understand there is a pandemic going on however there is a better way to handle this instead of dismissing the affordable care for adult pets. They are opened 6 days a week. They could offer sevices 3 days for puppies and kittens and another 3 days for adult dogs and cats. Then she says adult animals can go without their shots. So not true. If I have to stay at work or travel for work I have to place her in a pet hotel which will not take her if her shots are not updated. Its not like I waited last min unfortunately i got them this time last year so not they are do and I am going to California for my graduation in october. I an so upset at how they have handlr this. So unfair. Horrible.
It was a great comfortable experience for my kitty. The doctor and nurse were extremely gentle and kind with her. We were in and out in about 30 minutes, yet that was due to me making an appointment for her exam. Exam with shots and nail clipping $65, you cant beat that. Most places charge you that just for the exam!
Due to covid-19, they dont do nail trimmings. I need to give my cat a bath soon to get the fleas off him (he has tapeworms and is getting treated). Last time I gave him a bath, I got scratched, a lot. I still have a scar from it. I understand that theres limited staff, but I need someone who knows how to trim nails for a cat that doesnt like being picked up or held still for long periods of time.Other than that, the visit took less than 10 minutes once I was given the correct form to fill out to sign in.
Amazing place wish Id known about it sooner. The staff are such great caring people too. You can get your animal fixed with all their shots for such a discount, as well as getting catch and release animals spayed or neutered for free which is a wonderful sevice. They tattoo and chip your pet as well as part of the service. Big parking lot, same day spaying. A++++
Great place to take your pets to get their shot. My only problem is theyll tell you to come in @ 8am but they actually open @ 9am which you still have to wait inside to fill up paper work that process starts @ 9:30am then @10am is when they start the process of providing shots for pets or if you have scheduled surgery then you can dropped you pet off early but you still have to fill up paper work. Staff is super friendly, you can see that they care about your pet and they will answer any question you have.
We bought our dog in at 8am. We had to wait until 10am to be seen. They said cat surgery was going on 😒. We were the first people in there for a dog check up and later on several others came in. The front desk yelled out at around 10am that dogs can be seen. Some people unintentionally got in front of us so we had to be there a little longer. They should have a ticket system or something. The yelling from the front desk isn’t really good. Anyway... it was fine. Spent maybe $20 for two things. So good prices. They must not be real vets though because they said they weren’t able to give our dog a regular exam 👀. We ended up going to Delaware County animal hospital for the full exam. We probably should have went there first. This place is fine I guess. I don’t know if we would return though.
On a COVID-19 whim, I fostered a cat from PAWS and very quickly became a foster fail. They have been incredibly responsive and supportive during the entire process, and especially impressively so during these crazy times. I was able to get my cat to get her vaccine through a volunteer driver, and they even let me bring her in to the walk-in clinic when she was having stomach problems. They are super organized and truly have the animals best interest at heart. I can’t recommend this organization enough. Adopt, don’t shop!
PAWS does outstanding work in Philly for animals and their owners. The wellness center in Greys Ferry not only treats and rehabilitates strays of all kinds, it also helps owners by offering lower cost spay/neuter and general vet services. They are very dedicated people.
I brought my 7 week old puppy in for shots. He recieved his first dose and it was quick, painless (for both of us!) and super affordable. I would give 5 stars, however, the fact that they dont answer the phones is unprofessional and quite annoying to say the least. Im not sure why I have to leave a message EVERY TIME I call.
Wonderful people inexpensive service. Quick and reliable. Just had my elderly cat cremated thru them only 1 week he was returned back to me very reasonably priced. I recommend everyone to use their services for minor care of your doggie or kitty. Spay and neutering prices are more than reasonable which I have used for my 6 cats and 2 dogs. The Doctors are very knowledgeable and friendly. They are centrally located you cant miss them at their location.
I’m a volunteer here as well as a foster. Here are some tips if you plan on using them for low cost vaccinations. If you don’t like waiting a long time, arrive as soon as they open. Friday’s and Saturday’s get extremely busy. Sunday afternoons can be somewhat calmer, but not always. Don’t expect them to do a full exam on your animal, you must make an appointment with the vet for that. They have a ton of animals to treat and try to get you in and out as quickly as possible.
Theyre a non-profit low-cost clinic that mostly works off of grants and donations and they dont have a large staff. So they do the best they can with what they have. And I think they are doing a great job. I really like the ladies who work at the front desk. Theyre very nice and helpful. However, keep in mind this is a low-cost clinic so dont expect the red carpet treatment. The clinic does have an odd odor - kinda smells like a strong disinfectant or cleaner. But its not too bad to deal with.My first time there, I had no complaints at all. I was very impressed with their staff and quality of customer service. However, my third visit, I was a bit frustrated. I took my kitten to get spayed and when I got her back I noticed she was a bit off. At first, I thought it was from the pain medication since they did explain there would be side effects. But the next day, I noticed she was sneezing a lot, being lethargic, and her eyes were very watery. I called in to talk to the vet. They explained it could possibly be an upper respiratory infection, which is apparently common in cats, and I should bring her in. Unfortunately, Im pretty positive my kitten caught it from being here. It can easily be transferred from cat-to-cat and is commonly spread when things, like food/water bowls and grooming supplies, are shared. It can also be spread by close contact, like sneezing or coughing. Unfortunately, this is a life-long problem. So she will carry the virus for life, even when shes not showing symptoms, and it can flare up anytime. Since then, Ive already had to take her to a vet hospital once because the symptoms flared up.
PAWS has helped me numerous times when I needed to get quick care for my kitty and didnt have the funds or time to schedule an appointment with my vet. Excellent staff and services. Donate to the team if youre able to as they provide a great service to animals and their owners in the city!
I had an appointment to put down my sick old cat because they dont take walk-ins for that. I wasnt seen until 45 min after my appointment time. At which point the vet and assistant were great! She told me frankly what was going on and her opinion about weather she was comfortable putting the cat down. If I didnt think you should, Id tell you… and I wouldnt put him down. They were accommodating and empathetic, and in expensive. Front office/ waiting room 2 star, vet, care and cost 5 stars.
Worst experience and worst customer respect, ever. We had an appt. (drop off time between 8 and 9 am so obviously pretty flexible?) We drove 2 hours to go to this place because we heard it was good and affordable. Coming from 2 hours away, we didn’t know what traffic would be like and the gps was initially saying we would be there on time. Well, traffic in Philly was TERRIBLE so I called at 8AM ON.THE.DOT. and had to leave a voicemail because it is near to IMPOSSIBLE to get through to them on the phone, but I left a voicemail saying we would be running 15 mins late. I told them on the voicemail if there were any problems with the lateness or if they had any other concerns to please give me a call back. I didn’t hear anything. 930 AM ( we are walking in to the facility) I get a call from PAWS saying they are not taking us anymore due to the 30 min lateness. We drove 3 hours (because of traffic) with our cat who hasn’t eaten since 10 PM the night before due to having to fast for his procedure, and our 3 year old daughter. I called an hour before we technically had to be there and i gave them a heads up that we would be late. I told them if there were ANY problems with that, to call and let me know. And i didn’t hear from them until they decided it was “too late” for them to take us. They called us to let us know they would no longer be accepting us as we were walking into the facility. They REFUSED to take us even after we were standing there in front of their faces. We walked in the door 30 seconds after their phone call and they absolutely refused us. After driving 3 hours with our hungry cat. As a veterinarian you would think they would at least care enough about the animals and that our cat hadn’t eaten since 10 last night they would have somehow squeezed him in or at the very LEAST, they could have called me back to let me know they wouldn’t be accepting us after I called to let them know we would be arriving late. Honestly so stinking unprofessional. I called and left a message to the facility manager and she has yet to give me a simple call back. Not ONCE did any one from the facility apologize to us for driving 3 hours for nothing. We were 28 minutes late, that was all. And i called ahead of time to let them know. The employees here are sooooo rude. They do NOT answer their phone calls, the least they could have done was give me a call back after hearing my voicemail and letting me know if we were late they would refuse us service, NOT after it was already apparently “too late.”. I would have saved myself an extremely long, stressful drive. Just a heads up people, SPCA’s provide the same exact services this place does and it’s even CHEAPER! Save your money please, go to the SPCA, they care sooo much more about you and your pet.
They do what they can when they can. Theyre good quality humans but sometimes are too busy to really focus all their attention on each pet. For example I went for my young cats annual shots on a usually busy weekend. The wait time was expected but I was a bit startled by the in-room care when we finally got our turn. It felt VERY rushed and tense. Cats are naturally perceptive of vibes and mine directly reflected the volunteers giving his shots. They moved WAY too fast with those needles and even missed some of the doses by shooting too quickly before he was stable! Im not saying become his best friend first but if they were more calm and less stressed, my son and I wouldve had a Totally different experience. I wont say its like they didnt Care but that could definitely be perceived from the way they rushed every pet out. Everyone waited patiently for their turn but came out with a different disposition. The one scene I remember most was a slightly older lady, you know the ones that love those tiny non-stop barkers... well her dog was very scared and silent as she carried his little body in for his annuals. They came out 10-15 minutes later and his cuticles were ALL BLEEDING. The mommy was so upset and almost ran out the building as if she never wanted to come back. As a pet owner we should all know, yes sometimes trimming is necessary BUT when the times comes their are ways to counteract the bleeding with that powder stuff. Obviously that method was not used in this instance. Very disappointing but overall my other visits to PAWS have been okay. They try to keep the waiting area clean with paper towels at every station and have an organized ticket-calling system. I would recommend PAWS to any and everyone... if your options are limited.
Was recommended to go there now I recommend other pet owners to go. Great ppl, great treatment to pets and owners. Prices are just right. I love, just love Dr.Carrie. Shes taken care of Jeremiah (Jerry) with the most gentleness, love and kindness as if he were her cat. I love paws.
You drop your cat off in the morning by placing their carrier on a rolling cart and pick them up the same way.I was pleasantly surprised that my lil guy was ready for pick up at noon instead of the 4pm I was originally quoted.Staff was friendly and helpful, prices very affordable, and the facility was clean.
This is one of the best places to go if you are short on money but need good quality pet care. Ive taken my dog and cat here for vaccinations, bloodwork, and neutering. Each time, the professionals were accommodating, knowledgeable, and beyond nice. I would definitely return here.
I had missed some previous appts due to my health(cancer ). Every time I called them to get my cat in they we would give me an appointment that was far away. I would call every week to try and get in earlier but couldnt get in because they said they didnt have any openings. During one of my calls to be seen earlier I told them that my cat was sick. I told them that it was hard for her to move her bowels they told me to give her pumpkin but they still did not move up the appointment. After three days my cat died. I called to cancel my appt. Guess what they never took the appt out and called me to confirm.
I tried this place bc I heard the prices are reasonable. If youre driving too fast on Greysferry Ave, you will miss it. It in a part of a building. I paid $70 for my cat to be neutered, vaccinated, and nails trimmed. My only issue was getting someone to answer the phone. I was leaving voicemail messages and they were returning my call with a blocked number, so it took a while to book. They have Sat and Sun hours. My cat recovered quickly.
These people are amazing. They took great care of the kitten I found wandering around my neighborhood. She got spayed, vaccinated, tested for FIV & FeLV and got flea treatment.Incision is beautiful, the stitches are flat and the people were very friendly. They obviously care about the animals they help.
The staff was very caring and supportive of my needs during this. difficult time. They provide resources, low cost veterinary care and recommendations. You cant just drop off an unwanted pet here. You must have an appointment and go through an Intake Assessment.PAWS organization was a long time coming to fruition. So thankful that theyve made it to this point. A few years ago it was just a dream. Now PAWS is a reality! All animal lives matter!Spaying and Neutering is the key to a happy and healthy pet and a No Kill city. Informing the public about the resources available to do so will go a long way in helping Philadelphia obtain/maintain its No Kill status.Jaxhumane.org has maintained their No Kill status for a few years now along with ACPS in Jacksonville, Florida. Jacksonville has become a model city for others to follow. Thanks to all those who have helped save an animals life in one way or another 😊♥️
I drive people with their foster cats through a rescue I volunteer for to PAWS for shots, vet visits and testing. Although we go without an appointment, we are seen pretty quickly. For the most part, we see vet techs (unless the cat is ill), and they seem to be very caring. They also seemed rushed, but there are sometimes a lot of people waiting, and to get to everyone within a reasonable time frame, they have to be fast. That doesnt mean the cats get less attention, there just isnt time for much conversation. For the amount of patients at a given time, PAWS provides good care.
Ive been taking my kittens here for checkups and immunizations. The people there have always been kind and very friendly, and have been extremely helpful to me as a first-time pet owner. Im so grateful that theyre around, otherwise I couldnt afford to give my pets the care that they deserve. Im even going to start doing volunteer work for them, just so I can pay back what theyve done for me in some way.
I cannot recommend this PAWS enough, especially if you have a stray animal who needs a little help. Heres what you need to know:1. Most services for cats (thats all Ive taken) at the Saturday am clinic are about $75. This for us included the kitty HIV testing, immunizations, nail clipping, fleas and worms. Definitely a great deal for the stray cat who wound up in our basement.2. The Saturday clinic is discounted at 10am. This room will FILL UP so you should really plan to be there by 930 at the latest. Youll get a clipboard to fill out then, and they sort the clip boards in the order received.3. it was a bit shocking to me to wait until we had the kitty HIV/disease test before receiving other services. It makes sense and thankfully kitty was negative, but please consider this.4. they take both cats and dogs! There were several pitbulls in here. If your animal is sensitive, plan for a more closed crate or maybe to wait outside with your animal while another person waits inside.Overall great experience, Im thankful for PAWS and the Saturday clinic at Grays Ferry!
My husband & I are on a fixed income. We needed to have our 2 male kittens neutered & PAWS helped us alot. Their fees are very reasonable & the staff is full of terrific people! Thanks to everyone at PAWS!!Heres a picture of our boys (who are also brothers): Chester (the fluffy one on the left - the plume tail is his) and Ramses (orange tabby w/white-tipped paws). They will celebrate their 1st birthday next week! 🐾🐾
No appts til march with a sick pup in hand i was turned away. Thankfully only one of front desk reps at least was kind enough to care and give me an alternative but if not for her love for pets i wouldnt rate as high due to my personal experience. Thou i hear they have great deals if you can afford to wait
The whole experience was just terrible. I called the night before to let them know that my daughter is dropped of at school at 8:30a.m. The appointment was at 9 and we live a good 40 min. Away, not including morning traffic. ( we called for 3 weeks before anyone called back so we could even make an appt) well, no one answered or called back. I got there 15 min late. When I walked in, there were 3 women at the counter. Not one looked up or even greeted me. I walked up to the first woman closest to the door. She was looking at her computer. I said, goodmorning, excuse me I just have a question. The woman didnt even look up from her computer and cut me off and said with an attitude.. Ill hand out vaccine forms at 930. I respond, thats great, but I have an appt for surgery. she continued to just have an attitude, and when i asked about the surgical form she gave me, she acted like I was supposed to know what the form meant meant and the abbreviations. I dont work with animals, I dont know what the abbreviations are that they provide. I went to hand the form back and she again, didnt acknowledge me. She just grabs the form and turns away. Doesnt ask any questions, doesnt ask for the cat...nothing. The whole thing was very disappointing. Especially nerve racking because we are leaving my daughters cat there with ppl who seem to hate their job.My husband picked up our cat at 4pm. I didnt arrive home until after work around midnight. To my surprise..there was blood everywhere. On my sofas, couch, windowsill, blankets. I look for the cat to check on him. To my surprise he did not have a cone on. His surgical area also looked busted open and very swollen and there was blood all over his bottom and legs. I called 3 24hour vet hospitals. One answered, and explained that he should have a cone on and asked me to email photos of the cats bottom.Once they received the email. The woman told me to bring him in. It wasnt that ONE stitch opened, the WHOLE THING OPENED. RAW, skin exposed as well as a constant stream of blood.I called paws the next morning after his surgery. The vet asked, well, where is the cone? I notice he isnt wearing one. You should have left it on. -- my response Your employees did not provide one or release him with a cone. Nor did they ask if we wanted to purchase one. This review is being done one week after taking our kitty to this paws location. We have left several messages explaining what has been happening. No one has called back. No one. I spoke to the vet for 6 minutes. She was going to call me and give me a time to bring him back. No call.My daughter is 5 and she was terrified. The amount of blood was just, terrible. I grew up with dogs, this is our first cat. For someone who doesnt know about cats... you would think u could ask as many questions to feel some relief. But no.Advice: spend more money somewhere else where you know the cat will be well cared for. Or, maybe try a different location. I will not be returning there ever. Worst experience ... ever.
These folks provide a much needed service to the city with low cost spay neutering and vaccinations etc. Many or most of them are volunteering so be patient and kind. Arrive early for open walk in days as its first come first serve. Also the best place to buy revolution for fleas ticks heartworm; best price you can get they pass the savings onto you.
I volunteered there before I moved. It aint glamorous (I did everything from feeding, to cleaning out kennels, to washing bedding, to pack walks (fun!) but everybody -- vets, staff, volunteers -- is there for the animals. Lots of compassion for dogs and cats that have been on the street, or have been surrendered by human companions.
Today was my first visit and it was by far the worst!!! Got there at 8 am and the place smelled like something died in there. Next I customer service from the group of ladies at the front desk was by far the worst experience I’ve ever received in my life. If this wasn’t something that my cat had to have done I would’ve left. I will never come back to this location. Thanks to the women behind the desk.
PAWS is a wonderful animal shelter in Philly and their low-cost vet clinic makes keeping your pet affordable. If you go in on a weekend, prepare to have a busy and packed waiting room so know your pet and plan accordingly. If you want to get involved in volunteering, there are numerous opportunities, from fostering, to events, to regular day-to-day care, to helping the vet staff. They pull animals out of ACCT and do further behavior training and socialization prior to adoption.
Didnt have a good experience with them this last time I normally do but it was like the staff has serious attitude issues then going to tell me to back up off of my dog when Im holding her while shes getting her shots and wont try to say my dog was growling she lifts her head up and hit my chin and it made a click noise and when I tried to explain it to them they act like they had a attitude my siberian husky is 3 years old and the most friendliest dog there is around never bit snapped or anything on anybody and have kittens taking care of down and took care of a crippled kitten that I found on the street
Brought both my female cats here today. Lucipurr (2 1/2) and Freyja (1 3/4.) I dropped them off and went to explore Philly while I waited for pick up. Shortly after I got a call that Freyja has a heart murmur and shouldnt be operated on. They gave her the vaccines I requested, held onto her until pick up and refunded me the surgery cost. Its nice knowing that they really look out for your cat and their safety. The receptionists and everyone I dealt with there were very very nice. Would definitely recommend them!! Hopefully Lucipurr heals nicely and makes a quick recovery.
Tried to schedule an appointment for my car which was adopted from paws, told that they didnt provide vet care for my cat... Here is the email they sent me.I’m sorry to hear that you’re having some problems with ... Unfortunately we do not offer post adoption medical services at the spay and neuter clinic. You should have received a health exam certificate in your adoption packet to help you get in contact with a local veterinarian. We also have a list of local vets on our website as well as a behavior helpline.

2022-02-05I am a private foster and recently utilized PAWS for two cats that were surrendered to me from clients I work with. I took them to be fixed and vaccinated. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating 12/10 would recommend. This is an organization that cares!!!

2022-07-12Gus, my dog, has been coming here for years. It is great for annual checkups, shots, and flea meds. Every one of the staff at PAWS is experienced and attentive. They promptly call back to schedule appointments. When my cat left the house last year I called hoping someone may have brought him there. They were helpful in sharing ideas on how to go about finding him. Unfortunately I have not.🙁

2022-03-29New puppy mom here...the two girls at the desk were rude because I was asking so many questions and didnt understand how the site worked . When it was time to give my puppy his shots the girl (short hair /lack of friendly emotions) just came up with no explanation and took him! She could of took the time to explain things to me or made me feel comfortable. The woman who gave the shot was nice and explained what to expect in the future but seemed annoyed by me .Hard to make doctors appointment they tell you one thing then its another. Seems like they dont really care about customer service or how to connect with new pet owners.

2022-02-08Took my new 16 week old Yorkiepoo there to be neutered, and to catch up on shots, well it was a great service. They handled my pup with great care. I will say, when you walk in you can definitely tell this is an animal facility because you can smell it. The front reception area was clean and there where so many folks bringing their babies in. I would highly recommend this clinic.
