Auctions are for cars that reputable dealers refuse to sell in thier lot. They allow you to look but not test drive for a reason. Don’t waste your money it’s a high percentage chance that something gonna be wrong with the car. Bought a car from this place and didn’t even make it a block away and it cut off.
I was here a few days ago looking for a car for my brother who was also with me and came across a plenty of nice options that were in his budget but we decided to wait and come back on the next date they were open and he walked with a newer and better vehicle that was in the same price range. Id say if youre patient enough youll never be dissatisfied looking for a car here.
READ ALL REVIEWS FOR THIS PLACE BECAUSE THE OWNER HAS HIS FRIENDS WRITING THEM. Do not purchase ANYTHING from here. Non refundable deposit of 800.00 and also Extra fees as high as 24% based on the price of the vehicle, the City tax of 8%. Plus the auction fee. The 8% fee is not mentioned in the paperwork, its only mentoned when you arrive. You can only pick up your car on certain days even if you pay in full at the auction. You have to call a number to obtain a confirmation number to pick up your vehicle however when you call the number they are rude, most of the time youll get a busy signal or they will answer and then disconnect the call. I arrived at 10 am and was told that I needed to fax my proof of insurance, I explained to them that I had my insurance documents downloaded in my smart phone. They turned me away. I faxed the documents and every time I called to verify the times when I could actually get through they kept telling me they didnt receive. I personally faxed 18 times and the insurance carrier faxed 2 times for a whopping total of 20 tines just to be told they finally received the insurance documents. I arrived back at the Auction for pickup and was advised they only received 2 cover oages. Ages told me they had the paperwork but when I arrive Im told something different by a rude arrogant man whom was speaking to me as if I was some uneducated individual. Then he instructed me to email the insurance document. 5 hours later from waiting in the cold because they dont allow you inside until they need to process your car despite having plenty of chairs. During this time, Ive heard them telling customers who paid their hard earned money lies because they wanted to keep the car to incur storage fees. They actually told one man that the state rejected his insurance. Ive never heard of such. They told me they didnt have my insurance information. This place will not provide you with a bill of sale, they tell you that they cannot give you that yet they have it, so youll have to take a picture with your ohone. They also give you blank forms to sign and when you explain to them that you cannot sign a blank document they get mad and try to keep your security deposit without giving you your car. They try to make it appear that youre creating a problem when legally you should be able to obrain a copy of any document that you sign. I left there feeling depleted and very disrespected, they dont respect you at this Auction. On auctioning night yes but when its time to pick up your car they talk to you like youre beneath them. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone. I wish I knew yesterday what I knew today and I would not have given them a dime, I would not have purchase anything. Speaking of my purchase my vehicle made it 5 blocks to my house and is dead. This purchase cost me close to 5000. My money was wasted as the vehicle was a lemon. Very unethical, there is something shady about them. Oh and they only deal in cash. I took my car to the dealer and it was discovered that parts were removed under the hood to hide serious problems. Car is a LEMON. 5000 wasted but not in Vain. AG office made aware and legal action in the worksTHEY ARE A SCAM DO NOT BUY FROM HERE. PLEASE DONT.
Do not go there if youre looking for a ligit and straightforward business.-NOT A SAFE PLACE TO DO BUSINESS AT.when you come to pay.you have to wait outside (west Philly) with cash-$1000+ in fees-They dont disclose the mileage nor the condition of cars-You cant test drive anything.cant even look at some of the cars-One answer fits any questions (WE DONT KNOW)-Awful customer service.the owner is always in a hurry.
So far I have been to this auction on at least 5-6 different occasions and can honestly say Ive never experienced any type of inconvenience and was always provided help whenever needed. The selections that are out available each time are always fair and price is most of the time even better. I love coming here anytime Im in need of a vehicle and with friends or famil that ask for my recommendation as well. You cant regret going there.
Please please please do not got there for Gods sake. People there are very unprofessional and rude very very bad customer service the guys lies and the lady has an attidude. Dont believe what you hear on their car, they would make their car look good when in reality all they cars are crazy junks . The owner tell me all his cars are under 100k miles when in reality they have cars that are 300k miles. I bought a car for $5000 on car that i deeply regret and the car has issues for over $3000. We had to wait 2 days to pick up the car...Oh there are so much to say about this crazy aution. I wish i could give them 0 star, but PLEASE GUYS TRUST THE REVIEWS! DO NOT GO THERE AND WASTE YOUR MONEY THAT YOU WORK HARD FOR. Go a place that you can actually check and test drive your car before buying.
Lots of hidden fees. Was told to pick car up on Friday because of tags and was charged storage fees when i was told I wouldnt be. The battery was shot and it was leaking oil. No engine coolant car ran hot an quit 2 block away from the auction house. Save your money paid almost $3000 for a car they sold me for 1500.
For God sake do not go here, this place is a well organized scam !!Ask yourself why do you think the cars will come to this auction place(Auction guys do not own any of the car) ?Possible Reasons:1. No private buyer because of the condition of the car2. Private dealer wont be able to seller it either3. Car is at the end of life.( all cars were Junk inside, exterior were appealing)I went yesterday (my first auction). Wednesday 6pm the doors open for viewing the cars, I was excited and checked almost every car, few cars were locked(little better looking ones). this was the warning coz inside it was real hidden reality of the cars engine and interior and odometer. I was trapped there with the fine exteriors and during the auction at 7pm, I raised my hand got trapped there and paid $800 which they wont pay back as everyone entering the auction signed the contract. Called cops but they could not do much, went to court they asked me to sue them and stuff which I do not have time to do.The reception guys openly said WE NEED YOUR MONEY THATS IT, they wont listen anything but money, PURE PROFESSIONAL BUSINESS SCAM!90% cars have 100k + milesPretty soon they will be closed with their inhuman behavior, felt like dealing with mafias or something.Do your due diligence and try to AVOID this place.I could not get my money back but I hope I can save others hard earned money !
Do Not Purchase a car at this auction. The people are rude. Their fees are ridiculous and they dont give you receipts for any transactions. They are underhanded and treat you as if theyre doing you a favor. When you ask questions they get mad at you and never answer your question directly. Save the hassle and stress. Go to an auction that is legit and straightforward.
This place is open Saturdays , the auction start around 12 PM .You have to be early because they let in a minimum of people because the pandemic .You can find excellent prices .In my experience you have to know about the cars cause they sell the car and literally you have fix the car , it can be something expensive or not But thats on your responsibility. You don’t need a dealer License for buy a car .You can find a great deals .
I only buy our cars from auctions like these. There were a lot of people at this auction with a lot of great cars. I ended up getting a great deal here and the car has been reliable so far. Wanted to leave a review because I appreciate how well I was cared by the staff at this auction and the quality of the vehicle I won. Ive recommended PPA to my family and friends and will definitely be purchasing from them again for my daughter who gets her license in October !
This place is absolutely unbelievable, a buddy of mine told me about the auction back in 2009 so we drove down together ended up getting a steal on a impala. They had it detailed and registered for me on the spot. Ive purchased 4 cars from this place and my buddy probably a half dozen. The drive from Maryland has been more then worth it. Just wanted to give a shout out, Great Business!!
I came here desperate to find a car. I bid on a suv, it looked nice on the outside but as soon as I go to pick it up I was unable to open any of the back doors, the engine light was on, and had battery issues. I died 2 days later and I was out of almost 4 grand and no car. Dont EVER go here no matter what! If its not a complete lemon, Its extremely overpriced. Try
Tons of options, prices vary from $800-$8000. I’ve purchased over 10 cars in my entire life and I wish I knew this place existed. Quality cars priced at extremely reasonable prices. I even had the convenience of doing my plate and paper work there. Overall I’m completely satisfied.
Wow what an experience. I never knew buying car would be so easy. I spent days looking online for an Honda Accord with decent miles and affordable price. This auction had at least 8 or 9 different Honda Accords that all seemed pretty solid mechanically and physically. I purchased a 98 grey Honda Accord for $1700, which was 300-400 under the Kelly Blue Book value. I am incredibly happy customer and for my sons 17th birthday we will be returning !!!!
Worst place on earth to by a vehicle, bought a truck 10 months ago,had to do registration, tags and insurance through them, have the receipts for all payments to insurance and got pulled over today for the tag not going to that vehicle, it goes to a station wagon the vehicle was never registered and the insurance was not paid even though I paid it. Upon being pulled over truck was told due to the negligence of the Philadelphia auto auctionCAN WE SAY GRIMY.And Believe Me Its Not Over
This week on wednesday we bought an 09 gmc acadia. They didnt let us test drive the car to see how it ran, didnt tell us the mileage , this was not a good sign at all.The next day when we went to pick it up we barely made it out of the parking lot. The trasnmission started slipping almost immediately i had to push the car in the middle of traffic. I had no idea just how horrible the condition was of the vehicle. They didnt even tell us how many miles the vehicle had when we bought it. Now the car is in a trasnmission auto shop and we are waiting for it to be fixed. I feel we have been lied to and scam and definitely will never buy a vehicle from this place ever again. If i could give a -5 stars to this place i would. I would recommend you stay away from this place.
Ive bought two reliable cars from this auction for my family since moving to Philadelphia. I was a tad sceptical of the auction process the first time around but the auctioneer was very professional and explained the process. I was able to walk the lot and explore possible choices with my son Ronny & he seemed to enjoy the experience as well. Both cars have been great to us
To sum up the experience: overvalued broken cars (i.e., transmission or engine) + insanely high fees (40% of the car price). This place is scamming the poors hard earned money. For those who would like to know the dealership name and license check out the picture attached
This place is a scam.!!!!After placing an $800 deposit on the car, i noticed that the mileage was more than what the bidder announced. So, i requested an immediate refund and the owner/manager refused. Not wanting to lose $800, I went on with the purchase. After paying $2800 for the car and $1, 100 in fees (buyers premimium fee = 28% $504, auction fee=$125, title $116, tags =$156, taxes =$168) and not even 400 ft from the building, the car broke down. I DEMANDED my money back. The owner/ manager told me that he could only help me if I gave him an additional $1, 500 dollars for a 3 month warranty to exchange???? otherwise I purchased as isMy frustrations were met with large intimidating looking men in attempt to keep me from getting too out of line. The owner/manager was sarcastic, rude and condescending. I was offered a jump and locked out of the building.I had the car towed from their location in Philadelphia to my mechanic in New Jersey. $225Again, in less than 24 hours of purchase, the mechanic says that I am in need of a new engine, fuel pump and fuel line. PPAA will not exchange or fix.I pray the state of PA investigates this place and shuts them down!!!!!!!!!NRCC local 254 carpenter
Got my nephew his first car today at this place. It was my first time going there a couple friends recommended that I check it out because they bought cars there beforeThey ran thru more than 20-30 cars Id say in the auction with a good and big variety. They even brought them back thru if they didnt get bid on they asked if there were any that anyone missed or wanted brought out again. Im not sure if thats whats notmally done at auctions like that but it was helpful so that was good too. I was actually surprised because I was able to get a decent car for my nephew. We bought a 2005 Chevy Impala for $2200 after they worked with me because I saw one for myself run thru, a 2007 BMW 328i. I was able to pay a deposit for the BMW until I go back to pick them up this week. Its obvious they know what theyre doing there and theyve been around for a while. Im really happy about my experience and will go back in the future the next time Im looking for another car. I would recommend this place.
Bought a 2007 Mercedes Benz C280 4Matic. Car had so many problems with it. Also this auction will not allow you start the cars at all. So good luck trying to find out milage of some of these cars. And finally the title took 3 months to get. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. BETTER OFF BUYING FROM CRAGLIST
Very bad experience it was my first time , I got two cars yesterday and went is was time to do the paper work the secretary told me that I have to figure out the fees my self and went it was time to put a deposit I ask for the minimum and she told me $800 for each car (the cars was $1200 for one and $1500 for the second one)and reallyty the deposit was only 25% of the carPlus went it was time to go in for the papers they only allow one persone and I was there with my wife. Plus they don’t let you see the miles of the cars and went it was time to check the cars they don’t let you start any of them .Dont know if the car is good or not , I see it passing by the auction , I hope I got good luck finding my first cars ,And I’m sorry I that I can go or recommend to anyone . BEWARE .
Its a rip off. Be carefull they charge a $125 an auction fee and a bullshit buyers premium which will add on another $500 minimum on top of what you bid. They treat their cars horribly burning out on the auction floor and bottoming them out on the way out. Be careful when buying a car from this place. KBB your purchase first, so you dont get swindled by this place.
You couldnt pay me to come back to this place, not for all the tea in China! I was trying to see if they would lower their bids they only lower them but so much. If they think a car should no go lower than $1,000 or so they will stop the bidding there. They had 2 of their guys try to force me into buying a crappy car and I know the basics of car so I would not do so. At the end of it all they just shut down the auction and I left out. I had a much better experience at CAPITAL AUTO AUCTION!
A terrible place to get a car from, unprofessional staff, no information given about the cars, my experience with this place was regretful. I bought a 2006 BMW 5 series 525Xi on 01/05/18 I could barely get home with the car, the battery was stone dead, a lot of problems with the engine, I towed the vehicle for service at the BMW center at mainline and I was told the vehicle is beyond repairs, my money was wasted in vain. Exorbitant fee charge for just buying a vehicle. I wont advise anyone to get a vehicle from this place
Bought my first car at this auction about 6 years ago, ford mustang which is still running sharp. I recently went back a couple months ago and made another purchase on another ford mustang which runs great. I got a pretty good deal, better price than anywhere I could find on craigslist or any used car dealer. I cant believe the staff remembered who I was.
This is the worst place to ever go to an auction to buy a car they rush you in and make you sign a paper that you can possibly read because once you go into the area where you start bidding its so crowded loud and they do everything really kind of sneaky I purchased a car for $1,000 and another van for 1400 but when you go in to sign the papers they only allow one person at a time and you sign these papers which they dont give you enough time to even read or look over cuz theyre rushing you out cuz in this person needs to come in and then the day of the pickup they let me know that I had to pay an extra 700 for one car and extra 900 for another car with all of these extra services that make no sense whatsoever when you pick up the car and when I went to pick up my car. They had me waiting outside in the cold windy and making me sign other papers that were blowing away and I couldnt even talk to them about why I have to pay these other services and then they give you a list telling you percentage and all the stuff and they will not adding up their cells they make you out of yourself and then come in with additional money and then they state if you dont have the money you have to pay $75 a day for storage of the car until you get the car out. Then once you do that I had tags for my original car to transfer over to the new car but they did not allow me to do so they forced me to buy the tags which was much more expensive than the other place that I usually deal with! They are scammers they do things really quickly and they make you go in one-on-one and dont allow anyone else in there to help you understand the process nor do they explain the process when you buy. Then they leave you out in the cold weather and they will not let you go back in to look at the vehicles after the fact to make sure that its still in the same condition as it was 4 days ago that they make you wait to pick up the vehicle! Which they do not tell you at the beginning of the auction which I thought I was going to walk out that day with my vehicle. Im very very upset with this place and not to mention they stayed at that was in all good condition after I took my vehicle home I need it so much work on the vehicle brakes Cadillac converter fuel pump alternator door didnt shut on the side and Muffler was tied up with just a wire so I had so much more additional money I had to spend to get the vehicle inspected. I advise everyone that Dover Delaware auction is one of the best you know everything up front and theres no taxes and you walk out with your vehicle or the same day. Please stay away from this auction and beware because they are crooked slimy and sneaky,,,!
I went to the action to but one car I saw online but when I got there I ended up buying another one because there were so many more cars there than were online. Ill definitely tell my friends and family to go there for their next car and Ill be going when I need my next car! Great place 5 stars!!!
This place is a scam. I didn’t buy a car, but if I did, I would have literally be buying the vehicle with my eyes closed. Some of the cars are locked, you can’t start them, you don’t know how many miles the vehicle have, the fees are out of control, and the cars are all over priced! I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY! If I could have given it no stars I would have.
This place is an absolute RIP off! They dont even let you see if there is any check engine lights on. You cant walk up and listen to the motor either. Go to Capital Auto Auction! At least there you can ask the drivers questions and see if there is a check engine light on. There prices are also way better!
Bought a car there a few years back. Most cars tend to be trade ins and carscoff lease. Lot is smaller than some other area auction sites. I think users should study up on cars before bidding. If you buy a lemon, it is on you to know what to look for. Light years over the mystery bag at the PPA auction.
Expect to lose your hard earned money. Its like fall, very shady business. BUYER be ware. delays abound to retrieve your junker. ALL posters that are rating positive are co horts in this all cash never to be recovered business. So long as a fool parts with their money, this place will thrieve.
This auto auction should be shut down... they are horrible at handling business.... I wouldnt recommend nobody to this auto auction... I had a personal experience with this auto auction... and to be totally serious.. buying vehicles from here, I had a bad experience. Fees are out of control. They are rude. And the quality of the vehicles are the worst. BBB need to investigate this company...
Three five-star reviews on June 3 and 4? Hmm, I smell a scam from the ownership! You are far better off buying from a private seller. This auction is a retail sale in disguise. They use every sleazy sales trick in the book. All cars have a reserve bid which isfull retail. If you bidmore than their reserve you pay over retail!
Philadelphia Public Auto Auction is one of the best places to purchase a car. I wish they have the same service and prices where I live. I am from Dallas,Tx visiting my uncle in Philadelphia. The prices were great and the services were outstanding. The staff was very helpful to all my needs
The worst AUCTION EVER!! THE TAXES ARE A SCAM...THEY ARE RIPPIN PPL OFF ...I DONT ADVISE ANYONE TO SHOP FOR A CAR HERE ...IF YA CAR COST $2000,...U GOING TO END UP PAYIN $3150...THATS 1150 EXTRA IN TAXES FOR A CAR U HAVENT EVEN TEST RUN YET ...ONE OFBTHE WORST CHOICEß OF MY LIFE...THEY HASSLE U FOR YA DEPOSIT AND TAKE IT IF U DONT COME TO GET YA CAR IN 2DAYS WITH ALL CASH like a drug dealer
Trust the reviews... If you are a person of color they will talk and treat you like absolute trash... If you do buy a car... They make you wait outside with large sums of cash in a unsafe area and will not let u in no matter the weather... When you call and try to speak with someone to pick up your car everyone is unprofessional... They hang up on you... Plus they over charge with taxes and fees I bought a car for $2900. They added 1100 dollars worth of bogus fees... Trust me when i tell you these ppl will rob you for every dollar they can... Please dont do it... The guy even threaten to fight me... Please dont not go there.... Save yourself the headache....
I purchas a vehicle from here on Wednes 2-11-2015, and went to pick up the car on Friday 2-13-2015. I did not make it to the corner of 56th and Woodland Ave. I contact the office and they tried to get me to purchas a warranty for $1500, informing me that this warranty was not cover by them, it was cover by another place, and they did not know who. SCAM!! I tried to get my money back, and now i have to take Legal actions against them. For my vehicle that has a bad engine.
Place says opened on mondays, drove an hour out just to have the guy tell me its closed. I really wanted to check out the miles on a car (since u have to be there in person to see) still the guy said I couldnt see. Ppl were obviously in there I dont see what the big deal was.
The Worst place ever SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM SCAM I alredy lost my money I hope dosent happend the same to nobody else, really really bad costumer service very rude to you the all Process after you bid is very Stressful they sold me a car with bad transmission and not tolking to you professionally at all PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE
Everytime I shop for a Vehicle I go to the Phila Public Auction Ive never had a problem with this place as long you bring your mechanic or if you know anything about cars you should come out there with something nice Trust me I bought 4 vehicle from there and plan on going back for vehicle number 5 this weekend.
The auto auction was a lot of fun to watch cars were going for a lot less than I expected. The Experience was really cool and I love it...Everyone that worked there was very friendly. Thank you Philadelphia public auction. By the way I going to get my car from you guys
If I could give 0 stars I would they are very slick STAY AWAY I couldnt understand the auctioneer they were fast talkers and the taxes plus the 125 auction fee is outstanding I put a deposit down that is none refundable they dont let u get a good feel of the car its just a mess
Went to action to purchase a vehicle and all the vehicles are only 2 what they want to sell them for not a true auction house I made an offer they are not willing to accept vehicle was 15 years old and they wanted higher than dealership mostly all vehicles were dealership prices they dont want to sell at real auction prices
Theres something fishy going on here just read the reviews... Im confused how can half of your customers rate you at 5-stars but the other half of the customers all rate you 1-star... What am I missing??? Sounds like something shady is going on behind the scenes.. youve been warned!!
Lol Clearly the owner fluffed their reviews. The negative reviews actually sound like their from real people. the others sound like cheesy local-ad scripted commercials lolP.S. Sounds like a typical Filthadelphia scam shop. I dont think Ill be heading there any time soon lol
Do not waste you time.I bought a car- I almost did not make it home.Never again -I plan picketing the place. You need the time to properly go over a car, YOU WILL NOT GET THAT AT THIS PLACE learned a valuable lesson and $3,100 to late.RON LOCAL #1823 REGIONAL CARPENTERS-DONT DO IT

2022-03-22Bad place to do business. I purchased a car from them and the engine was running quietly and smooth before the purchase. I gave them a deposit. Picked up the car later and engine was knocking so hard it was about to explode. Meanwhile one of their employees was taking cars from the lot and doing burnouts in the street. They legally stole my hard earned money. Shame on them!!!!!

Very happy i was able to do business with them And will continue to do business with them.

2021-05-21The worst please to buy a car. I wish I could give a negative star. Most of the people I had encounter with were very arrogant. They dont give detailed instruction on what to expect on the day of your car pick up.They derive joy in frustrating their customers. If you buy a car worth of 3,500, by the time you are through, you will be spending upto 5,000.The most disheartening part of it is that youre not sure of the car.I bought a car with a bad alternator from them. I have put in more than the money I bought it for. I wish they can enlist the problem with their car. Please dont be a victim if youre looking for a car to drive immediately. This place favors mechanic because they can easily spot out fault on the cars.

2021-04-04I went here this past weekend and it was a horrible experience. They would not tell me the VIN # or mileage on the car (which isn’t legal) that I was interested by in, I was told that I had to put down a non refundable deposit just to get that information. You have to go with cash on hand if you expect to get anything. There’s a beast of bouncer who guards the door where you’d be making purchase transaction and he is very rude and disrespectful, he tried to intimidate me on several occasions during my inquiry and he tried to deny me service because I asked to test the car before purchase. Everyone who I asked legit questions to in regards to purchase either replied that they didn’t know, or just shrugged me off. They have an ATM but it doesn’t work so they’ll point in the direction of outside ATM’s which makes absolutely no sense. I wouldn’t go back to attempt to purchase a vehicle, I’m glad I didn’t as I’m reading all these horrible experiences that many face. I understand that their policy is “as is” however purchaser should have a say if they choose to purchase a car with potential issues and be scammed into buying a lemon. They’re running a get rich quick scheme. Avoid at all cost if you can!

2020-08-18I want to give them zero stars. Paid over $3000 for a car I paid $1900. This is not including tags or insurance or anything. Just the car and the 28% sales tax! Not only do you not get your car the same day, they also lie about everything. I bought a car from them and paid everything and still couldn’t get my car for 3 weeks and when you try to talk to someone about it, the lady on the phone gets an attitude and hangs up on you. When I finally do pick the car up, they say it’s only 120k miles on it when it was actually 197k miles on it. Now I understand when buying used cars, something will be wrong with it but the entire power steering assembly is all messed up! They don’t mention anything about it. Just avoid going to them at all costs! The hidden fees are ridiculous, there’s no refunds, and they are liars.

2022-06-11Amazing car! Amazing deal on my Honda! Thanks y’all!
