The worst customer service you can imagine, wait time for someone to answer more than 2 hrs, they promise to return the call in 24 hrs but usually it happens when people are at work and are not able to answer. Multiple errors resulting in applying the payment to the wrong account and for 8 months by now there is now way to clarify the issue as new issues and misapplied payment keep occurring. Did not accept the online banking confirmation provided by the bank as the clarification of payment had been made, requested the bank to call the water revenue department while the bankers informed the client that the bankers are not allowed to make out calls regarding the payment clarification so the bank printout is an official confirmation of the payment. As a result there are multiple late charge payment keep being accumulating on the account.
I honestly think there needs to be an investigation on the water company. They do as they please, give false bills with no proof, NEVER answer the phone and when they do no one knows what they are talking about they all say something different. They think theyre cute with the leave a call back number well I work like everyone else I cant wait by the phone for these people to call. Its not a joke Im really concerned why the city isnt doing anything about this. You have no choice but to pay them because there is only one water supply! Im writing to the Better Business Bureau and every one else that has had problems with them should do the same. In my opinion they are criminals and crooks.
If theres an option for zero star, i will give that. They will let you hang on the phone for over 1 hour. Once you talk to someone, theyll tell you to email them. Then you email them, they take over 3 weeks to answer you and still your problem is at zero resolution. If theres another water company in this city, i will definitely use a different option. I pay my water and should be treated as a customer. I dont take free water, so dont treat me like i am lining up for freebies. Very disappointed!!! Why cant they be like Peco or pgw and solve your problems and be nice to you?
My complaint is that the water company damage the curbside cover on my sidewalk because a neighbor complained about water in there basement. I was told they did not find a problem. I requested that they replace cover which they damage on my property. They came out and place cover over my neighbor who hasnt had one since he purchased his house which supposed to been placed over mines. 🙄I have photos of trash inside of neighbor and also took photos of mines because of the inconvenience of constant calls. The last time I spoke with Ms. Walker they were to replace cover but instead of replacing cover they tampered with line which again I took photos because of my complaint to the claim department to fix cover I received on Friday I have a curb stop obstruction that need to be fix in 10days. Why were they tampering with my line when they were to replace curbside cover which has been there for over 23 years in good condition. Wow really. I will be at your office on Monday. The wrong customer to cause problem.😤
Called Water Revenue 2/9/2017; and didnt wait very long before connecting with a young man by the name of Mr. Fisher. Mr. Fisher was on point! I called to inquire about a bill whose info needed to be updated to reflect the current owner. He explained why the change had not been reflected and modified the account-- promising that it would take affect immediately. Although I didnt plan on checking until tomorrow-- after speaking with a relative in Philly who told me the city was shut down-- I decide to check the account. Mr. Fisher delivered! I appreciate the fact this young man showed up to work today-- when the city is supposedly shut down. Its employees like this who are overshadowed by all the negative reviews and are generally not recognized for excellent customer service. Most say they are just doing their job-- I say, KUDOS -- for doing a great job! Mr. Fisher-- the Water Revenue is fortunate to have you as their rep!
I am just totally disappointed in their service. I wait on hold for an hour. I dont need a call back. I need all my revenue bills for last year to claim on my taxes.I was supposed to have them mailed in January. Then I asked that they be emailed March 1. I cannot wait any longer guys! Taxes are due April 16th!Terrible. Just absolutely terrible!
I had to get a HELP loan to pay for my water main repair. Its handled by the water revenue bureau. They send the bill with the regular bill. But theres no way to pay the bill online or to get it direct debited. You have to pay by mail or by phone. By phone theres a service charge, but the automated system doesnt tell you how much until after youve provided your credit card info. This is overall really inconvenient and outdated. You need to get the payment options of the HELP loan improved. Theres no reason you shouldnt be able to pay that online too.
Unanimous desicion on this review 1-star or below . I am moving into my new home and I needed to get in touch with customer service, tried 5-times and waited 45 until I finally realized they werent going to answer so now Im without water In my new home. The absolute worst water company and service imaginable. I cant wait until a new supplier comes to town, I will cancel this and move to the new one no matter what.
My Water bill amount never changed since October! In September 2016, I had two family members that came from Florida and they stayed in my House for a period of one month in half. I got the following month bill came for $57.73. I thought that was normal since I have two additional people in my House. After my Family members left, the amount of 57.37 stays the same . I said well let me give them a call to see what is going on. I called and explained the situation. I even told them that they need to come to my house and check the meter because it is not normal, not even on cent difference. Next month, The amount came out to be the exact same thing. I was so mad and called them back and said I will make sure That I waste the water water for no reason and record it while I am doing it and see what is the bill going to be. The following month, I do not know what they did but my water bill lowered to 49.43. until now It stays 49.43 and never changed. If I could, I would never use this company. Customer service is terrible.
This department is an absolute joke. Total incompetence of the staff that work ( do they work) at the water revenue department. You cant speak to anyone on the phone because the wait time is over 30 minutes and when you leave a call back number to hold your place in line, they never call you back. Waste of tax payers money. If I could leave no stars I would have but in order to post review I had to make it a one.
I just purchased my first home, and the water service was terminated at the property by the previous owners before closing. I have been back and forth with the water department for 5 days trying to get ownership changed. After providing the closing disclosure and deed to the property to prove ownership (twice) - there has been no response. Im on day 3 waiting for a response on whether or not they are going to turn on the water at my property.A full week since closing and I still dont have water. The water department really needs to get their act together. It seems like most government entities in Philadelphia need a major overhaul.
Incompetent OxyMoronsI received a shut off notice and I called the Water Revenue spoke to customer service in the billing dept and was told to pay the past due and current bill on my due date. I did just that I went to the Municipal bldg paid the account in full in cash. I get a call from a tenant stating the water was shut off at 9pm the same day. I am livid because I called and paid cash in person on my due date to these incompetent fools. They dont know how to properly handle the accounts and the customer suffers for it by not having water.
The water department has terrible service. This is an supervisor issue. Usually the employees are nice if the supervisor is nice, respectful,.and pleasant. Someone once told me that its not the customers its the supervisors that gets on their nerves. There needs to be better training for the entire team. The cost for water is too high and I dont even drink it.
Worst service ever, they will shut your water off for non payment even though most cities water in the USA is a utility and human necessity, in Philadelphia its a tax so they can shut it off and charge you a service fee to turn back on. they never arrive on time and always angry old union guys. they will never admit to liability for water charges on a dispute; even if your house was empty for a few years (estate) unless it was shut off and meter removed they will keep charging you estimated charges until the house is sold or settled out,... if your family member passes the bills will keep adding up after their death even with no water used. its criminal.
Im only giving them one star because we should not have to pay for water. This is the only city Ive ever lived in, where you have to do that. But when I had a problem and went to their office, they were very nice to me. If you get a shut off notice..definitely go IN there and talk to them. They will help you.
I called the water department on 3/17/17. I didnt get the lady name, But she was so rude and nasty. I told her I was having a good day and refused to allow her to make me upset, and I would call back hopefully get some one nice. My experience with the water revenue is always bad!! VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! MY GOd help your staff..
The water bureau is the worst city department I have ever dealt with. It took 10 days from the time the online payment was delivered 6/12/15 by check by my bank and for the water bureau to deposit the check on 6/22/15. The department will NOT accept direct online transfer like most vendors and my bank had no choice but to send my online payment by slow mail check. Then they have the nerve to say I am late in my payment and charged me a late fee when they took 10 days from time of delivery to cashing the bank check.Talk about gross inefficiency!!!!
I wish I could give this no stars. Probably the worst run department in the City of Philadelphia (and that says a lot!!!). Staff has no clue what they are doing. Was referred to an employee Earl Williams several times by several customer service representatives who they claimed he was the only person I could speak to regarding my issue. This person never picks up their phone or responds to messages or emails and you can not visit his office. I dont even think he exists. Its just their way of passing along an issue they dont feel like dealing with.
I gotta say, seeing all these negative reviews made me nervous about going in today. They were so fast and so nice to me. I didn’t have some of the stuff I needed to change my account over to a new name, and they waited patiently for me to get via text and emails.Everyone was super polite and patient!
Nothing but rude individuals who seem like have lack of intelligence the way they talk to you! I honestly hate calling the Philadelphia water department, they are not understanding what so ever ! Ive had a problem where I paid my bill On time and because of their system which didnt process it on time they came out to shut my water off and when I called it was all my fault and I had to pay them the 60$ fee to turn it back on ! This company deserves zero stars !!!!!
Screw them PECO and PGW to pay your bill theres a fee involved and not to mention a due date really means the late date cause it takes days for these idiots to process payments. Dont get me started on their meter division they waited 20 months to realize their meter was not registering on my property and guess whos fault it was, mines, cuz they hit me with $972.00 estimated water bill for USAGE ONLY, talk about extortion and being strong armed. Now remind you I bought the property with this meter and wasnt aware almost a year and a half in that this meter wasnt reading. Now just the fact my actual first bill after the new meter was read was only $33.00 and the usage portion was only $6.72 cents says something these people are charging me $49 a month in usage ESTIMATED for one person, 7 times my usage, talk about stress Im in for a long battle with these people one Im not sure I will win until I attend their Kangaroo court.
Who created the pay by phone system. It sucks just like the city and the company why cant you just put in your account num and pay you have to put in the first 13 numbers then a letter which I have no letter in my account then the last 3 num then do the whole process again for the systen to tell you that. It doesnt match it shouldnt be this difficult to pay your bill by phone Im over it
Worst service. Representatives don’t help you at all. I had called like 8 times and still having problems with something very simple. I even told one of these people “no wonder this have so ugly reviews “. And now when I thought everything was fine another problem in the bill . I wonder how ,any times I would call this place again.
Every month they take forever to cash my check and apply it to account and i get late fees. Im sure it sits on someones desk for a week. You can never get them on phone, I seriously don.t know how that last reviewer did it. Oh and the website is bad and doesnt give you a confirmation when you pay. I gave them feedback when they changed it, and they said no one else had a problem.... Hahahahahah
Do NOT go to cashier #8!! She’s a screw up!I paid cash once, the following month I wasn’t credited. I called, they said I never paid! I took my receipt over after waiting 3hrs to be waited on, then it took them almost 1 yr to straighten out! Recently I paid by check, again teller #8 screwed up! She entered I paid $123.65 instead of $132.65, I knew this bc I received a letter from the city & my bill was not posted in the actual day I paid, but 2 days later!! Teller #8 RUDE!!
We had a pleasant and professional experience in person today at the MSB. From the time we entered revenue we were asked if we needed help. They text your phone so you know its your turn ...very modern. The ladies at the front desk were very helpful as was Donna Mitchell many thanks for all your help.
Should be zero stars....ridiculously long waits to speak to a human and when you do finally talk to a person, youre given nothing but attitude, unclear and oftentimes, incorrect information. There is no regard for the customer, certainly no regard for customer service skills. It seems there is no management nor training for the employees...it is always a dreadful phone call to make....
Unmercifully curt, rude and abrasive. There were rats running across the floor at the 17th & JFKennedy location. The staff at this location & the northeast location are really curt, rude and abrasive. I was harassed for several years, having my water cut off for years, though I paid a bill every month. They would arbitrarily stop by without notice claiming to need to check the meter. Since I was at work, they would cut the water off. Each time there would be a charge to turn it back on. Then the workers never showed up to turn it on after taking a day off to have it done.
The absolute worst. And they are allowed to be the absolute worst because they are not under the jurisdiction of the PUC, and are allowed to act unilaterally with no oversight. Looking for customer satisfaction? Forget it. Theyre even worse than PGW, and thats saying something. The worst damn utility in town. And they have the nerve to ask for rate hikes...how about you stop your employees from tooling around in Water Department cars over the weekend and using them for personal business? Pathetic.
If you have a water bill in Philly, know that you are paying for a company that is still paying drivers to MANUALLY drive around the entire city EVERY MONTH to read the water meters by radio. Most other water authorities can just do this now electronically. I was confused at first as to why their service was so terrible but now it makes a lot of sense! They still think its 1920 and we just invented radio!!
The worst customer service ever It has been this way for years and probably will stay this bad, I once tried to get on billing budget they requested all hospital records and once sent from the hospital they then said timeexpired and I had to start over! They make it so you cannot get the help you need!!
When you have a computer glitch, it would help if the person answering the phone for ZipCheck questions would be more accommodating than just responding by saying I” I just told you “and slamming the phone down in my ear. Some training in customer service might help..Bill Fitzgerald
We are builders in the Philadelphia area and have nothing but problems with ALL the utility companies. No one is willing to help, I keep getting pushed from one person to another and end up back at square one! Trust me when I say once this development is completed, we will not be looking into any further in the Philly area.

2022-03-17If I could give negative stars I would. They are absolutely the WORSE department of all the public utilities. They almost never pic up the phone. The call back system is awful. When they do call back, they call back at 4.26pm, and if your not done speaking with them they will hang up on at 4.28 pm because that is when their day is finished. They will not call you back, and will mark the call to be complete. HIRE MORE PEOPLE! REDO YOUR PHONE SYSTEM, IT CONSTANTLY HANGS UP ON PEOPLE!

2022-02-07I was afraid to go to the water department after reading ppl feedback. I was there at 8:30 the department I needed to see wasn’t till 9:00, the gentleman that help me was well mannered and even though I forgot 2papers he allowed me to run to my bank for the copies and when I returned he checked my paperwork and said to continue making payments and will here from them in 30 days. I was on the 10:00 bus going home. They showed great service. 🌟🌟

2022-04-01It’s better to go in than to call them. They will never pick up the phone lol I literally waited an hour and a half on the phone and just hung up. I walked in this morning, signed the sheet at desk#10, not 5 minutes later they called my name and helped me out.

2022-04-14My experience was great, had to see someone on the water dept side, signed in and was called to window in 1 min. Then went over to tax revenue side where my wait was 9 min only because I put the wrong info in the kiosk

2018-04-09Had the same issue with the water revenue here. Our tenant has no water for days now. She said she tried to pay the bill when someone from the department came but she was informed that they cant accept the payment because she isnt the account owner. Why? She was the tenant and she has all the authority to pay. We made a payment via phone since the online payment may took 2-3 days to reflect on the account but the water is still off until now.. Tried to call several times but I was still being redirected to request for a callback. I requested a callback from them but didnt receive any calls and when I received a callback the agent only just had provided another phone number to call and said nothing else. What kind of service are they giving to their consumers? Cant imagine how terrible this department was.

2022-03-14Trying to pay the water bill online should not be this difficult. Forget trying to reach someone.

2018-07-15Called to report a fire hydrant at 2544 Sepviva St that would leak into my basement when turned on. The person answering the phone was very polite and courteous. She informed me that someone would be out that day after 9:00 am. Around 10:30 am the Water Department arrived. The gentleman was also very courteous and diagnosed the problem immediately. I was told that I would be placed on the list for repairs. As long as the hydrant isnt turned on, things will be fine until repairs are made. I also had to call a year previously to have sewer cleaned. Again everything went fine and in a timely fashion. No complaints from me, except sometimes the wait on hold can be bit long, but have patience and they will get to you.

2019-11-20I have called the customer service number 3 times in 2 days now. There is a call back option however, they call at the worst times back such as a day later or 3+ hours later. My online account has been locked and all I need is for them to reset my password so that I can pay my bill. Why is it so difficult to pay a bill? Why isnt there an option where I can reset it automatically through email like every other corporation?

2017-01-19The worst! Wasted my entire morning with 3 different phone calls to this department to clarify a mistake made on their part. First call, the customer service rep just hung up because he could not answer my questions. The second call was not a success and ended in call failure. The third call seemed to be going well enough, but the woman would not allow me to finish my sentences, and therefore was not answering my question, since she could not be patient enough for me to describe the situation. Eventually, she heard me, understood the problem, and placed me on hold only to return to my call with a new attitude, and was too, no help. Basically a credit I had on my account from an overpayment has suddenly disappeared. Id like to know where the money went. All she could say was that it was transferred to another account. Whhhhatt? Whhhyy? The credit is a substantial sum, and Id like to know where it went, and why. I was told to contact my bank and produce all the checks I ever sent the water department. Really? Why? The statements reflect the credit, each month payment due this year has been deducted from this credit until now, they just disappeared it with no explanation. (Marked as an Adjustment) I bet they are hoping I do not produce my checks to restore my account to its proper status. Its just money in their pockets. If it were any other company we could choose to leave, go elsewhere with our business - but not in this situation. We are at the mercy of their terrible customer service, whacked out accounting system and poor standards. What can we do? Say well go get our water elsewhere? Its a SCAM!
