Hotel is older but very clean and has a friendly staff. No maid service we had to ask for supplies when needed. The bathroom needs to be modernized. Toilet is too low to floor and bathroom sink is not in bathroom! We stayed two nights and we were locked out of our room on the second day. We had to go to the front desk because our key didnt work in the door Their explanation was that they checked us out and secured the door lock. They fixed it but it was a inconvenience. Not sure we will be staying there again.
Positive: The hotel was central to my visiting Altoona needs, close to everything. The breakfast bar had many things to choose from. Negative: The one thing I did not like was the echo from the seating area in the lobby. It is an open concept theme and even the small group of 5 that was sitting in the lobby area echoed and made it difficult to hear the staff when I was checking in.
Still on our stay. Had a bit of an issue with our first room that had an unusual odor, but this was quickly remedied by the staff who have us another room. They promised to look into the issue. The new room is great, clean and well laid out. We will definitely come back.
The hotel and rooms themselves were clean and the beds were fairly comfortable. The stairwells were a little musty. Some of the halls and doors could use a fresh coat of paint. Overall, things were pretty decent. I just think the price was a bit high all things considered despite the PSU football game going on the next day.
Very clean, amazing hot breakfast for a hotel! Good breakfast spread. Staff that I have met in or around the hotel is friendly and do their jobs exceptionally well. Im in a lot of hotels with my job, so I have some experience! Both the manager, and assistant manager are outgoing and awesome to deal with.
My fiancée and I took a weekend trip and booked this hotel last minute. It was a great hotel and we were very pleased with our stay. It was clean, the staff was friendly, great location with plenty or restaurants and stores close by. The breakfast was great as well! If I had to complain about anything it would be that our shower didn’t drain so when we took a shower we’d just be standing ankle deep in our dirty shower water. But other then that we enjoyed our stay and would definitely book this hotel again.
Everything was fine. The room was clean. Shower water was hot. Able to make coffee in my room. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Restaurants were nearby. Hotel location was in close proximity to the football stadium and cross country meet. Overall it was a great experience. Will definitely stay here again.
Positive: Room was ready, clean and staff very helpful Changed my room for second night because of noisy neighbor first night. Negative: Was woken and kept up most of the night by a noisy neighbor who was making a loud phone call and left TV on. Phone did not work to call front desk to complain
This hotel is certainly going to be part of my return list, I only spend 280 Days out of the year in hotels.Pros: Safe and Spacious parking, Good Eating and activities within walking distance, Safe Day and Night, RM161 is going to be my favorite, Hot Breakfast, Laundry, Ice and Snack Vending.Opportunities: When checking in / Check Out have our documents accurate and in order. Putting in my rewards number etc makes me want not to come back. I have a lot to do throughout the day. If you can have an accurate checkout slip preferably under the door that will be great. Conclusion: Great Friendly staff amazing well kept hotel in a good location.Thank you for all you do. 👌
So far, so good. One of the nicest budget hotels weve booked in YEARS. Our room is very spacious. Its clean, quiet (except for the motorcycles racing down the main drag last night), no weird smells, DIRECTV (found a Monk marathon - Im set), and we have a couch. Waiting until later to hit the free breakfast. Its early, and the dining room is a bit crowded for my Covid paranoia, but there seems to be a conglomeration of older folks who are in town for something important, so I can wait. Great job, Quality Inn & Suites!
Dont make reservations here if you actually plan on staying here. We made reservations 2 weeks out and got confirmation 1 week out and then the day before, but when we arrived they informed us we could not stay because we lived 35 miles away. Apparently they have a policy that people under 40 miles away can not stay there. We were staying in town because of a friends bday party and didnt want to drive home. We have never had problem before staying in town and they should of informed us before this and included on the site. They sent 2 confirmations so they knew we were staying with them.
These bugs were in bathroom. Killing them meant them falling on clean towels. There were gross stains on the curtains I forgot to photograph. Only 1 staff person on duty. Both of them I dealt with were a little rude, but cant blame them when they are alone with no help running things. In positive note.. the layout of the rooms are nice and spacious!
Positive: good location for us Negative: we indicated we had a dog and a somewhat rude late night interrogation from the man behind the desk (about 10:30 PM) about our dog, which we inquired about without being told of an extra fee. I WOULD NEVER PAY EXTRA FOR A PET. PERIOD. RUDLY CHARGED.
Quality Inn Altoona PA is a much better value and more comfortable stay than many other similar rated hotels in town. We know, because we travel through & stop in Altoona all the time on our way to Steeler and Penguins games in Pittsburgh. We will definitely be staying here more often when the rates & availability are right!
I would rate the hotel zero stars if I could. My house just burnt down and so I needed a place to stay nearby while my partner and I got our affairs in order. We booked the hotel through Priceline so we could get something affordable, but when we arrived they refused to rent us a room because we “lived” too close. I made the staff aware that we did not live ANYWHERE because our home BURNT DOWN and they refused to help us and told us to get our money refunded through Priceline. This is absolutely absurd, do not stay here if you have the ability to stay anywhere else!
We chose this hotel because of the very decent rate compared to other hotels, knowing it might mean we sacrificed a little quality. I was pleasantly surprised to find a very bright, modern, clean hotel with very friendly staff. The room was spacious, bright, and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. We had one very minor issue with the privacy curtain at the window, which had a couple tears. We notified the desk so they knew the damage was already there when we arrived, and were immediately offered a different room. It was also very quiet - we never heard noise from other rooms (including above as, as we were on the first floor) or the hallway. The breakfast was decent, and the coffee was very good. I would absolutely stay here again.
Spent 3 nights at this motel and staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good with a good variety of cold and hot choices. Room looked like it was clean at first sight but we were a bit disappointed to find a dirty lair of underwear on the floor next to one of our beds. Dont care for the 3 day towel replacement policy especially with multiple guests in the room. We had 3 guests including my wife, our 30+ year old son and myself and keeping up with dirty towels was a pain. Our pet only stayed in the room overnight with us and is very clean. I think a $75 cleaning charge for a pet friendly motel is a rather high charge to customers.
I ended up here because the hotel where we had scheduled a staff meeting was full. Little did I know how nice this hotel was. The rooms are spacious, updated, clean, and quiet. Breakfast was good and staff were very friendly. The hidden gem was the courtyard that was very relaxing with several pathways and fountains. We will definitely be back, and perhaps even move our whole meeting group here - providing the elevator is fixed by then. I usually use the stairs whenever I travel but some folks simply cant.
As already stated in this questionairre, our room wreaked of stale cigarette smoke, and all of the carpet and soft furnishings should be replaced, as well as all walls cleaned and repainted. It was a joke to see a no smoking sign in this room. The deadbolt would not work unless you could lift the heavy door, and the young woman who checked us out was unfriendly with lots of attitude. We would never stay in this hotel again.
Great room with huge tv,refrigerator, microwave and coffee pot. The king size bed was very comfortable . The bathroom was clean and there was plenty of towels. The hotel was near the mall and many places to eat. The halls and elevator were very clean. Will stay at this location again.
My husband and I travel for a living. We pretty much live in hotels. For instance this was stay #30 in a choice hotel in 34 days. We like the quality inns because its mostly standard what youre walking into at a very affordable price. Choice Hotels needs to be looking at this property though, because this hotel goes above and beyond the standard quality inn. The rooms are large and comfortable. Everything from the lobby, hallways, and most especially the room looks exceptionally clean and well maintained. By the front desk there was coffee and hot water ready to make tea or hot chocolate. The staff was very friendly. Jacob checked us in and he was very nice and informative. Breakfast was fantastic, no yucky powdered eggs here. My only complaint is that not all choice hotels take level of pride this facility clearly does. Id give them 10 stars if that were an option on Google . Not only would I stay here again, I actually hope were back in the area again.
We had a wonderful experience. From beginning to end we had no complaint about our stay. The room was spacious. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was delicious with a nice variety of options. The gym was nice. All the desk clerks were very friendly and helpful. I had trouble connecting to the Internet this time around, but my children dfid not, of course.
We highly recommend this Hotel. It is clean, the staff goes above an beyond to make you comfortable. The breakfast is great. The room is clean and updated with a nice shower, comfortable beds, pillows, a large screen TV with Direct TV. Its nice and quiet also. We were pleasantly surprised at how nice our stay was at this Hotel!!!!
Very Good. The staff does a good job of keeping it clean. Im glad this is the hotel my company, Norfolk Southern uses here. The staff makes us feel welcome. Its reassuring that after a long day or night working on the railroad that we have a nice, quiet place to take rest in.
The hotel is older, but spacious and clean, with a lovely outdoor space, with a brook and garden area. The staff were so friendly and helpful and there is a nice big breakfast room which opens at 6am. There are many restaurants within a mile or so of the hotel, or even across the road. Overall, a reasonable price for a decent hotel in a good neighborhood. Senior discount was applied to an already low price. We would be happy to stay again if we pass through Altoona.
We stayed here because of the cost, thinking wed save a few bucks and that one night couldnt be too bad. We were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is older but has been updated. The public areas are nice and the outdoor shaded patio area was an unexpected bonus. The mattress, pillows and bedding were excellent. The breakfast items were not over the top (I missed seeing bagels) but we did not go away hungry! Staff was friendly and pleasant. Coffee and tea available at all hours.
Front desk staff were the most friendly staff I have encountered in a very long time at any Choice Hotel. Rooms were clean. Shower was powerful which is a plus. I hate wimpy showers. Bed was comfortable. Needed more TV choices. I couldnt watch the CW channel. Side entrance needs to be upgraded to key card entry.
Got this hotel on Hotwire while passing through on a road trip. Very cheap, so I guess you get what you pay for, but just wanted to make people aware that it’s not very clean. Outdated, weird smell, which is tolerable. But looked like they hadn’t vacuumed in awhile- hairs, dirt etc on the floor/carpet in the room and hairs on the bed, too. Linens, pillows etc are old and kinda nasty. The front desk worker in the evening was very nice and friendly. The one in the morning was a little off- she didn’t come out after I said “excuse me” but I heard her laughing and talking in the back- just to realize nobody else was back there and she wasn’t on the phone. Seemed odd once she finally came out for me to check out. Would have spent more for a better one in the area.
The Quality Inn in Altoona PA has been updated and is now one of the nicest places we have stayed. Our King room was large and clean, with everything we needed for a weekend stay. The lighting was GREAT and the furniture and the layout of the room were very convenient. The bed was comfortable and the TV was very nice with lots of channels. (I liked having a list of channels in the information packet for the room.) This was the only place we have stayed that had a printer in the room. The breakfast staff was very friendly and helpful and the grounds are beautiful. Will definitely stay here next year.
Nice welcome from older friendly lady at front desk. She found me a plastic fork when I needed it that evening as well. Appreciate the service with a smile—you don’t always get that and she was helpful to all checking in on busy fall weekend. Invoice says checked in by eroyer, pls give her kudos. Room was much nicer than expected with huge tv. Only had accessible room left and husband loved walk-in shower.
I picked this hotel as it was a modern hotel close to the Rock Run ATV Park. Good internet in the room, good selection of premium channels on the TV, but no internet access thru the TV. There was ample parking for my truck and trailer, and a Perkins restaurant on site, with several others within easy walking distance.
The room was surprisingly spacious and well equipped - including a large screen TV, small fridge, and computer. It was clean, comfortable and pleasant. Every staff member we encountered was helpful and engaging. We were only their briefly - got in late and left in the morning. But based on our experience we would definitely recommend and return. The inside of the hotel is much nicer than the nondescript outside would lead you to believe. Solid choice.
Easy check in with no delays. Upon entering the room one switch did not work but was not an issue. Bathroom light was very dim. Bed very comfortable and pillows nice. Huge tv. Refrigerator with cold water bottles. Breakfast was nice with cheese omelet but no hard boiled eggs. Heater to the eggs had been turned off so they needed reheated in microwave. Food very good and breakfast area clean and comfortable. Freshly mopped entrances were nice as well. This location is extremely clean which is very important to me
My family and I stayed at the Quality Inn Altoona on July 21. We were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and friendliness of this hotel. From the minute we walked through the door we were greeted by a friendly face and were even given some snacks. (We had been driving all day and were exhausted and tired). Our room was exceptionally clean and quiet. The morning breakfast was also good and the cafe was clean and nicely decorated. We were not sure about staying at this hotel since we have not stayed in a Quality Inn previously, but we will definitely look for them again when we need a hotel. Good work!
This is one the nicest hotels we have stayed at in a long time. The lobby area has a nice atmosphere, Checkin was quick and easy, staff was pleasant. Our room had a nice sitting area, a refrigerator, and microwave. The bed was comfortable. The sink is not on the bathroom, making it easy for us to get ready for the day. The continental breakfast had a nice variety, plus an outdoor courtyard if you want to enjoy your meal outside, or just enjoy the landscaping. There are plenty of nice restaurants within walking and driving distance, and plenty of places to shop. This hotel has a laundromat, which is a nice extra.
I checked in june 8th by eroyer an again by a different employee; again an treated wonderfully. She was knowledgeable & helpful as all of these. How i. Asked myself how can this have so many great employees. This is the reason when im in altoona area i always go there. These employees make you feel like you are home each time I’m there. Go altoona great team
The room was comfortable and decorated nice. This has become my favorite hotel to stay. It has a large screen television mounted on the wall with satellite. There are accommodations for the business traveler with an option for an ethernet cable connection and a laptop table. The room also has a sliding partition to block out the light when someone is using the sink. I also find it helpful to block noise from the hallway. The breaksfast is also very good. The last time I stayed they had scrambled eggs which were very good.
Very clean room and bathroom. Bed, bedding and pillows better than avg quality. Really good water pressure for shower (2nd floor). No noisy neighbors and a/c was quiet and cold. Hotel slightly dated but was a great experience for the aforementioned reasons. Lots of great restaurants in area, so did not eat there.
The hotel was very clean. The staff was amazing! Very friendly and helpful for anything you needed. Printer in the room was very helpful. I cant say enough about the bed. Out of the 4 hotels we stayed at i received they best night sleep here. I will definitely be looking for a Clarion for all my future business trips. The shower was white and spotless! The air conditioning was auto controlled on the wall so the temp started a a comfortable temp all night.
Location was easy to get to. While appearing a bit dated from the outside, my single king bed room was very nice. It looks like it had been updated, had plenty of outlets for electronics(including built in USB and euro outlets), and a love seat that was a fold-out bed. The free breakfast was pretty standard (eggs, bacon, cereal, toast, etc), but it hit the spot. The staff was very helpful and kind as well.
Friendly check in, accommodating by giving me a room close to the lobby for morning coffee as the room coffee is awful! Made a fresh pot when I arrived after traveling over 6 hours. Nice! Room was okay, a little odd layout. Biggest TV Ive ever had in a hotel. Usual breakfast fare.
We have stayed in this hotel when it was under another hotel group for several years when in Altoona. When we heard of the change to Clarion, we hoped for the same quality. We were not disappointed! If anything, it got better. The desk staff were very accommodating and pleasant. The room was the same as before, but the hotel is in the process of upgrading the paint and carpet. We had a huge TV. Our cleaning staff, Sue, performed her normal duties efficiently, and went out of her way to accommodate our crazy schedule; she was very pleasant and personable and assisted in getting us a discount at a local restaurant. We were very pleased with the change, and now we even earn Choice Privilegeso points!
Overall the stay was quite good. Room was nice & the very large TV was a nice touch. Plumbing was very loud when using toilet sink or shower, toilet ran quite awhile after use.& shower took long time to get hot water. These are n really complaint just things I noticed and wanted to pass along. Cannot comment on breakfast as we had a long drive ahead so left hotel at 6:30 on Sunday so breakfast room was not yet open. Coffee available at all time at front desk was nice as we were able to fill our mugs in the way out. Also the snacks provided at check-in were appreciated. Front desk staff was very helpful and pleasant at check-in. The sliding door to divide room is a great idea that more hotels should use.Bed was comfortable but pillows could better/
We had stayed in this hotel in March and were so impressed, that we booked right away for our May stay. Morgan at the front desk was awesome when I called with questions about our pet. When we arrived, we got a little doggy treat bag. Tara(?) was just as great when we checked out.The room was spacious, bedding comfortable and everything very clean. There was a welcome reception on Tuesday night on the patio.Breakfast was better than most - very large variety and very tasty. The entire staff at this hotel was very accommodating, friendly and professional.
This hotel was very well managed. The staff was personable and yet professional. The room was bright and modern, meeting all our expectations. It was the best QA we have ever stayed in and fully up- to/ date and comfortable. It is also situated in the middle of a shopping/restaurant area with IHOP in the parking area.
This is a very nice hotel though it is undergoing a renovation. Our major disappointment was that the walls are very hollow. We could clearly hear the people in the room beside us through the walls and unfortunately they decided to stay up late. If getting a good night sleep is a priority for you then I would not choose this hotel. The hotel staff was excellent and very nice. I was impressed with the breakfast that was provided the next morning.
Our stay was great! We stayed here following the Penn State game and didnt arrive until almost 2 am. The staff were super friendly and helpful especially for being so late. The bed was a tad hard however I have a very fluffy down pillow top so it is all relative. Everything was clean and the shower was hands down the best hotel shower I have experienced! We look forward to staying here again.
This hotel has nice comfortable and clean rooms. Better yet, the continental breakfast is excellent. There is a lot more to choose from than usual and it was all really high quality. The hotel also has a nice sitting garden area with a putting green and nice tables and chairs set amid nice waterfalls. Really a nice place to relax at the end of a hard day at work on the road.
Yes its a little older but immaculately maintained and the staff is super good and friendly. And $68.00 for a comfy king size bed and super clean room? ALWAYS. And it has a pretty little garden area and a putting green. I travel a lot for my job and would stay at this hotel every night if it was in every town i traveled to.
Great place for the $. Aside from rooms/decor being slightly dated I liked everything about this place. Great water pressure in shower. Beds and pillows good quality. Nice big new TV in room and everything was clean. I have paid $20-$40 more for similar rooms and not been nearly as impressed. Tons of good restaurants close. First visit to Altoona and really like the city. Lots of things here, but not too big. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it.
Once we checked in we were able to unwind and relax after a long drive in not very pleasant weather. The room was clean and comfortable and the large 55 flat screen was enjoyable.Front counter staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The Breakfast room was very clean and the choices were great. Nice being able to have your breakfast without having to set out and find a place to stop.
This was our first time staying at this location. Last year, we had booked the Econo-Lodge in Altoona (just down the street) and it was DISGUSTING. We left after 30 minutes. Still cant believe it is part of the Choice Hotels chain. When we booked this for our stay, we were able to stop in and check out the location. Given the rate we found, I was worried about the condition. We stopped in as we moved our daughter into college and Asia? was very sweet and showed us a room which relieved our doubts. Our stay at this Quality Inn & Suites was a 180 degree change from the Econo-lodge. Our king room was very nice. The bed was comfortable, TV was huge and the sofa/sitting area made it a very nice stay. The breakfast was typical for the chain, and was kept stocked by the staff. The seating areas - both indoor and outdoor - were very nice. The only issue we had was with the shower - the water did not fully switch to the shower, leaving a great deal of water pouring into the tub. By the time I was done, the water was ankle-deep. It did drain quickly. Also, the faucet had separated from the wall - probably from another guest trying to fully engage the shower. I told the desk when we checked out.The staff was very friendly - the lobby and breakfast area was clean, and our room was nice. We will probably stay were again - the only issue is that it is on the other side of the college from Ohio.
First responder, booked through Priceline following a ling day at work. Although the room was already paid for, the incredibly rude staff refused to give me a room because the address on my driver’s license was local and I couldn’t locate my change of address card as I had moved last year and was visiting my hometown. Left me stranded and I had to make the 2 hour drive home. This frequent traveler will never book through Quality Inn again.
The hotel is undergoing renovations, so parts of the hotel are dated in decor. Some of the rooms are empty and the doors are left open, its not the bestthing to look at and seems unsafe - anyone could walk in to one of the rooms. The room was comfortable and clean despite issues with the lights not working, dark rust colored water coming out of the faucet, and an odd hollow metal slidingdoor separating the bedroom and bath area.Staff are nice and friendly. The room is clean. Breakfast was better than expected, and the complimentary beverages in the fridge and hot beverages in the lobbyare a great addition.
Positive: Location and price Negative: Needs complete renovation, bed was old , mattress needs replaced, shower and bathroom old and worked poorly, staff never came to our room to replace towels, shampoo, etc...not once in 3 days, terrible breakfast just packaged food, noisy trash truck.
This was our first stay at the Altoona Quality Inn & Suites over Thanksgiving. Very good value for the price; staff quite welcoming and and helpful. Breakfast buffet was top notch for an under $80/night room. Fresh food and attendant constantly replacing and refreshing items. Rooms (2) were spacious, clean and updated including huge flat screen TV.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Altoona, PA. The room was very clean as well as the rest of the building. The complimentary breakfast was the best one that we have ever had.....they staff member that was in charge of the lounge where we were eating kept all the food full and very cleaning. I must say that I have never seen someone that enjoyed her job as much as she did and take pride in it!! All the staff were very pleasant and always ready to answer any questions that we had!! I would definately recommend this hotel for anyone visiting this area!!
Its a beautiful place but went downhill from our last stay in may. room was fine as usual as is the breakfast layout. its the attitude of the maintenance man who claims it was my stuff that wouldnt connect to the internet. I showed him I was getting fair signal and when I did get on it would throw me out while I was ordering food. He wanted me to sit in the lobby to do my personal matter so it can be overheard. no way. when I arrived the desk lady says Im booked for 1 night and my husband told her no its 3 nights. she had my reservation right on the screen in front of her. talk about a nice start. I should have known right then and there it was going to be one of those times. I got a problem with the lady restocking the food and utensils without gloves. told the man at the desk on checkout, he seemed unbothered. this place went downhill since the name changed. it is too bad since it had a nice patio to sit out at night and a putt course. the room was great and spacious. the pillows suck-may look fluffy but flatten to a pancake when lying on them
I stayed only one night as I was visiting my son while in rehab at Cove Forge, but if I ever had to travel to the Altoona area again I would certainly stay there. The room was spacious, affordable, and clean (my most important need). The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful with directions. The free breakfast was fine (waffles, eggs, toast, pastries, cereal, etc). They have an exercise facility. There are several restaurants within walking distance (mexican, chinese, Red Lobster, Perkins, Dunkin Donuts). The drive to get there is beautiful countryside and I would have enjoyed exploring a little if I had extra time.
The room was ready earlier than I expected. Tara, the person at the desk was very efficient, got me a room on the first, though I am handicapped, I do not usually need a handicapped room, as long as it is on the first floor. She was able to accommodate me without too much trouble. My wife and I will be traveling out to see family in Williamsburg so well plan on staying here.
I stayed in this hotel as a last-minute emergency plan, because I was too tired to keep driving. The hotel is in a somewhat dated but still pleasant-looking brick building. They are currently renovating the lobby, but it still had a neat and presentable appearance. The rooms have been recently renovated and new beds were recently added, so I had an extremely comfortable nights sleep. My only quibble with the room was the extreme smallness of the bathroom, but for one person staying for one night, that didnt matter at all. The hotel has an excellent free hot breakfast, with delicious home fries. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would happily stay here again.
Ive stayed at other Quality Inns in other cities and most of them were less than expected. When I saw this Quality Inn was in a location of one of my favorite hotels in the area, I thought Id take a chance. Im glad I did. The hotel was clean and well done as far as amenities. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. I hope other Quality Inns are following suit and stepping up their game.
Was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room and the quality of the furnishings. All aspects of the room were very good. TV and WiFi were excellent. Liked the USB charging stations. Bathroom was clean and well stocked with towels. Elevator was convenient to the room.
We had a nice stay in this hotel. It was during LLWS week and rooms were hard to find. Renovations in the hotel didnt bother us at all. The room was nice and the beds duper comfy. Only had a couple minor complaints about the bathroom, but it was all superficial. No cleanliness issues at all! My only complaint was there wasnt enough room in the breakfast area. It was raining and the outside area couldnt be used. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Did not use the weight room or outside area.
We stayed at this hotel property while visiting with family over the Christmas holiday. Hotel was clean, quiet and warm (temps were very cold during this time).Good breakfast each day including Christmas morning, although it might have been nice to have something special on the buffet for Christmas morning - like fresh donuts or a special coffee.Staff was friendly and attentive. Parking is generous and there are restaurants within walking distance at which you can also get discounts by showing your room key.
This was an ok stay at this hotel. personnel were friendly and helpful, it was quiet even with a lot of people checking. the free breakfast wasnt very goo except for the waffle makers and the pastries. all hotels should offer at least one sugar-free, unsweetened cereal for those who are not able to eat sweetened cereal.
I had this hotel recommended to me from a Choice Hotel in Johnstown as I told them I was heading to this area next. It did not disappoint. I am thankful for the recommendation. The manager, and I feel bad I cant remember her name, has a happy hour on Tuesday evenings(I think that is the night) where she orders in food and gets some beer and wine invites everyone down to the breakfast lounge. It was really a nice touch and very enjoyable.
Our stay here was outstanding. The facility was very well-kept and the complimentary breakfast was one of the best we have every experienced. Our room was spacious and clean. The outdoor area was especially nice with plenty of tables and chairs for relaxation and several beautiful water features, along with a putting green!!! We will definitely stay here again.
The hotel staff was totally awesome. They called while we were in route to be sure everything was ok. The hotel is well appointed and has a really cool outside area with fountains and waterfalls. There is an outdoor gas grill. Breakfast was really varied and good. Can not say enough good stuff about this location. We made reservations for again next month.
We stayed at Quality Inn in Altoona for one week and absolutely LOVED it! We have a busy toddler and loved having the putting green in the back to keep her busy. They even had a child’s set of clubs.Breakfast was fabulous and was perfect for the three of us. The eating area had a high chair that we used every day. The coffee was delicious and we always left with full tummies. We enjoyed conversations with the lady that manages the food area. She always had a welcoming smile and kind attitude. We had a room with a King sized bed and they provided a crib. The couch in our room was the perfect place to set up a changing table, complete with an area on the back of the couch to set diapers and wipes. Having a mini-fridge and microwave was convenient, especially when we had early nights due to early bedtimes. The best part overall was the wonderful people that worked there. Their customer service was top notch. When we checked in, we were offered microwaveable popcorn and a granola bar that my daughter thoroughly enjoyed. Bottled water in the mini fridge was complimentary and was restock when we had the room serviced. There was a water cooler in the hallway near the front desk that also came in handy for filling sippy cups and water bottles.Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return in the future. Thank you!

This is our favorite hotel in the area. Great stay time after time. The only issue we have ever had was during this stay. They are upgrading the rooms. Now the ac/heating unit is about two feet from the bed. Had cold air blowing on me all night. No problem with the nice blanket. However, will have to re-think this in the winter with the heat blowing. Dont think it will be real comfortable.
Very poor, breakfast buffet didnt last long, little selection, eggs and Ham was cold. Room service almost barged in when I told them three times very loudly not to enter, do not disturb sign was broken to the point of inoperability. Bathroom was not good, sink was not in bathroom and shower/room in bathroom was small. Had this giant sliding door which was out of place and useless. Room felt small. Could have had more room in bedroom. Direct TV didnt have on demand and user guide was not very good. The curtains were see through which made very little privacy. Could hear people next door and outside. Litter along putting green (extremely small) and bird poop/no cushion on outdoor swing. For price expected a pool/hot tub. Also no bar inside building. Popcorn and granola bar was nice though
Traveled to Altoona for business and Ive had really good luck with quality inn before - not disappointed with this location. This hotel is so well kept, the rooms are well decorated, and the staff were so sweet! At check-in, we were given popcorn and snacks. It doesnt seem like much but after an entire day of driving and then working out in the cold rain, the thought of warm snacks was really a blessing. Im not sure if Ill ever find myself in Altoona again, but I would 100% recommend this hotel and Quality Inn in general.
Very good and safe hotel. Would be nice if in the fall season, the hotel offered a Tail Gate party on Friday nights before the Penn State games, since many of the guests there are attending the game. In the past, they had such parties where free food and beverages were offered. It really made us want to come to the hotel even earlier and spend more time at it. Thank you.
The decor was a little outdated, but they were over construction for renovations. That shows they care and are improving. The room has the biggest TV of any hotel room. They had a 55 TV. It was great, but maybe a little too big for the room. I wouldve given this place 5 stars, but I had to put the bedding on the sofa bed myself.
Great for the one night stay; restaurants / food places nearby that I could walk to; shuttle service to where I needed to go; only issue was that the heater was loud (it was winter when I stayed here) and would continuously kick on and off. Comfy bed; quiet atmosphere; great staff!
The hotel was conveniently located on the business district. A clean modern and comfortable Hotel along with friendly staff most of the time. The bed was extremely comfortable , and the room wasnt cramped. The only thing that would need updated would be making the bathroom a little bigger. It is a pet friendly hotel, and a quiet Hotel. I would recommend this for anybody who is traveling to the Altoona Area.
Everything was excellent throughout the experience. The agent on the desk stayed on the phone with us until we could find the correct route to the hotel. Checking in was a breeze even though it was a very busy weekend in the Altoona area.Until we located this facility and spoke with the agent, we were thinking that we would need to drive all the way back down to Breezewood. Penn State was having their open house and there were multiple sporting events in town.Overall the experience was excellent.
Most of the personnel were friendly. The room was O.K., but housekeeping was nonexistent for about half of our stay. The breakfast room was large and bright and the person in charge (Sherry) was great. She kept it spotless and was there and happy to help if you needed anything.
First, we made our reservation months ago. In the meantime the motel had been re-branded Quality. We did not believe our GPS on the first pass. Second pass we recognized it from the photo. Having a Perkins about 100 feet from our room was a real plus. Everything was fine. Service was great and breakfast was excellent. We left an item in the room. We called back the next morning and they retrieved it so we stopped on our return trip and picked it up. Wireless was iffy.
We really enjoyed our room and convenient location to I-99, shopping, and dining. The outside courtyard was very nice and relaxing. The sliding door in our suite between the living room/bedroom area and the entryway/bathroom area was especially nice. Having two bottles of water in the refrigerator was a very nice touch as well as the offer of microwave popcorn and granola bars upon check-in.
We have stayed here 2 other times. The best Quaity Inn we’ve stayed at. Friendly desk staff, microwave and refrigerator in the room, no issues with the room. The hotel has a washing machine, a rarity. Elevator for getting to the 2nd floor. There is a nice patio adjacent to the continental breakfast dining room. The continental breakfast is OK, but could offer a bigger selection.
My experience with the Clarion brand is that they generally are hotels some other chain has built and Choice is rebranding them. This certainly was the case with this hotel; they are in the early stages of transition.First the basics. This hotel is clean, well appointed, the staff, while not overly friendly, is efficient and effective in preforming their tasks. Breakfast was much more than one would expect with a pancake maker, nuts for the oatmeal, fresh pastries, two meats to select from, etc. Very good. A 55 TV and a computer printer in the room were first for me in my nearly fifty years of traveling for business an pleasure. I thought the bed too hard and the pillows too soft, but that may be more personal preference than a statement of the quality of the bedding. The bathroom was clean and well appointed. Big soft towels were certainly a plus. The letter I found in the room describing their plan to transform the hotel outlines a plan that has visual proof of being implemented. I was impressed with the hotel and would seek it out should I ever be in the area again and in need of lodging.
I was very satisfied with my recent stay at the Quality Inn in Altoona. It was my first time staying there and probably wont be my last. I found it to be a very good value. It was reasonably priced, met all my needs, staff was friendly and it is very conveniently located. I have no complaints.
Be sure to check out their patio. secluded and nice to unwind after a long day. The breakfast was hot and refilled frequently with tables being kept clean despite crowds of people constantly in and out. easy access with parking and walk to restaurants as well. We were in a king suite and that included microwave and refrigerator. Appeared to just be redone as the carpeting smelled new. The room was very clean. Could hear other rooms and hallway traffic but not to a distracting amount.
I’ve stayed here a couple of times now and I absolutely love it. The location is right near everything and there are a lot of options for dining around as well. The rooms I’ve stayed in have been very clean and comfortable and the free snacks in the room is an added bonus especially after that long car/plane ride. The bathrooms are also very clean and look nice as well. Overall, I really enjoy my stays here and will stay here anytime I go to Altoona
Accommodations were fantastic. Hotel has been recently updated with modern furniture, bedding and 55 TV. Staff was pleasant and friendly offering popcorn, granola bars and bottled water. The free breakfast was one of the best if not the best weve had at a Choice Hotel. We chose this hotel due to its proximity to Lakemont Park.
All in all the hotel is in good location. the staff is friendly. The cleanliness of the property is acceptable. I belive every thing in the room should be checked if it is operating properly every time. If there is a compliant about any thing from the customer in the room, the re should be a staff on call to fix the problem.
Great place to stay and enjoy high price hotel quality at an affordable price. The hot breakfast options at Quality are always top of the line. Large flat screen tv was a pleasant surprise. I use the Quality line of hotels five to six times a year, and Im never disappointed.
My 3 night stay was well below my expectations. Housekeeping did not clean my room the following day until 6p after I complained to front desk. And then next day room I returned to again the same issue, the room is not cleaned! On both days the do not disturb sign was removed by 10am and yet my room did not get cleaned. Also upon my return after exiting hotel for the day, my key card did not work. I was told that if it was near cellphone is may mess up, however, once I got it reset I tried the second key that was in the room and it did not work either. So having to walk in the rain to front entrance just to get in was very upsetting considering I had booked this hotel for 3 nights and each day having the same issues. I’m a very dissatisfied customer!
This hotel is one of the better hotels that we have stayed in , we used reward points to book 2 days and we were given a mini suite which was just great. it had everything you could ask for . it was roomy with sofa, comfortable chairs, fridge , microwave, sink, coffee maker, a complete computer with keyboard and monitor and good wifi, video player and a 42 tv. clean bathroom and well stocked with soaps and shampoo. auto temperture control that works, a grat selection for breakfast and plenty of seating, we were recognized as platinum members and was given a complimenary gift. overall a real nice hotel with great people. i recommend this hotel if you are in tthe altoona area
Overall my stay was enjoyable, had a couple issues with the toilet clogging even when it wasnt clogged it didnt seem to flush very well. Hotel is undergoing some renovations, would like to see it after everything is done. Staff was very nice and helpful, bed was comfortable and the wifi worked well.
My husband and I stayed for a night with our 9 month old baby. When we went to check in, the receptionist said we booked 2 rooms instead of 1. She let us know who to call to remedy the issue. We called the next morning (on a Sunday) and we were helped by the manager of the hotel. They refunded us for the extra room. We could not have been more pleased with the customer service. It was an honest mistake on our part, and the people at the Clarion were so understanding and helpful.
Very good staff. friendly, accommodating. the TVs are nice and big. A plus when you want to relax after work. Quiet so you can get some sleep. The only thing I wish was different are the eggs with cheese in them at breakfast. the scrambled are good but the eggs with cheese arent.
I Loved it Overall. I even used the treadmill in the gym. Watching TV was Amazing and relaxing. Amazing Quality. It was very nice to have quality TV at the end of a long day visiting my son at his 1st year of College. The bad odor was a disappointment because I have a hard time when any place has a bad odor
I just want to start with that this hotel is a great place to stay the staff is very pleasant and always helpful. They go out of their way to make your stay pleasurable. The front desk staff, Tara and Heather are very friendly and informative and willing to help in any way they can. The rooms are always clean and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.
Neat and clean, comfortable. It had been a Clarion at one point. I will say the bathrooms are small, but the sink/vanity is outside the bathroom, so as to not hold up others getting ready. Several breakfast choices, not great food but adequate to start the day. They have more choices than most. I will stay again next year when the Central PA Festival of the Arts.
On a baseball road trip through Altoona, we opted for this Clarion hotel. The hotel is less than 1 mile from the Curve baseball stadium. The staff from check-in to check-out was friendly and the spacious room was everything you want from your hotel stay. A separate bath sink outside the shower and a sliding privacy door from the bathing area to the room was a great touch never seen before. The breakfast selection was phenomenal with home fries, a pancake machine (quicker and cleaner than a waffle machine!), eggs, meats, breads, fruit, oatmeal with a variety of toppings and a breakfast hostess that was friendly and attentive made this Clarion feel like a B&B!
The room was much better than expected and we had a great stay. Id definitely recommend it to someone looking to stay in Altoona. There were only two minor issues. The woman at the front desk was very rude to one of the maids when we were checking in which was a little off putting. Also, the potatoes at breakfast had obviously been sitting out for a while and should not have been served.
Very nice place me my wife and kids stay there all the time. This is our 3rd time going there this summer and will be going there again tonight. The people that run the place are very nice. Like Lee is a really kool kid he works the night shift and he goes above and beyond for his guest very happy with all of them
This property just was renovated and the room we had showed it! Sliding barn door between the room and bathroom/sink area was a great addition as well as the layout of the room. The hotel also had an outside grilling area, patio with tables, and a practice putting green (putter and ball available at front desk).
Lots of amenities. Great places to eat close by and pleanty of places for shopping and adventure. Even though there is alot of traffic, the rooms are quiet. Pet friendly and priced right. Awesome staff. If there is a problem they address it immediately. This was our first stay, we plan to return to this hotel when in the area.
This is a nice motel to stay at in Altoona. It is clean and the service is good. The breakfast is the normal self serve venue with scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage and bacon. Great if you want to grab a quick bite to eat or you can walk next door to Perkins. Lots of places to eat dinner up and down the avenue. This was our second stay here and we will probably be back again.
My kids and I stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the location of hotel. The room was nice with a big TV. The only con was exiting the hotel using the side doors smelled horrible, just like musty awful garbage. The smell was only in that area. Other than that the stay was great!!!!

2022-04-19Positive: The staff could not have been more helpful and courteous. The breakfast experience was above most other hotels with a greater star rating. This was an outstanding 2 week stay. Negative: We did not have a single complaint throughout this 2 week stay.

2022-07-08This place was awesome when I stayed two years ago, however, I cant say the same today. 2 years ago, in the midst of the holiday season, I booked a room through the hotels website and had no issues. The room was large and clean, and despite there being no breakfast or gym/pool due to Covid, it was a great deal for the price. Now lets fast forward to this evening. I booked a non-refundable reservation through a travel site to save 10% (my first mistake apparently). I get to the hotel to check in and the lady behind the desk asks if Im from Altoona. I tell her yes and she says she cant give me a room. Apparently theres a policy in place that they dont rent to people within a 50 mile radius. Why, you may ask? I know as well as you do. She told me the policy has been in place since at least she started working there 23 years ago, nevermind the fact that I was able to get a room less than 2 years ago with no issues, hassles, or questions asked. Okay, now Id understand if it was a major holiday and they were on the verge of being booked solid, but no, its just a regular Friday night, no Curve game in town, no special events in town.

2022-03-24Ive stayed here a number of times over the past two years and almost all have been pleasant experiences. Clean comfy beads are always a highlight for me.The bathrooms are a little worn but very clean, and the water pressure and temperature are always great. The free muffins and yogurts at breakfast is portable enough for me to take with me on the next legs of my trip.On one occasion my male companion stayed outside to have a cigarette while I checked in and headed up to our room. When he tried to come in and go past, the older woman at the front desk stopped him and then proceeded to call me in the room to make sure I really was expecting someone. As a woman who normally travels alone, I really appreciated this gesture and her effort to keep me safe from potential harm.My first visit was during the height of Covid, and I didnt love that the young woman at the front desk didnt seem bothered to pull her mask up over her nose. But I suppose it was still better than the several men who were hanging around in the lobby maskless and taking turns going out to smoke directly in front of the doors so that the smoke wafted in. Luckily I had a room on the second floor that time to the smoke didnt bother me much after I walked away.

2022-06-21Positive: Location, location, location and, the hotel staff. For the second time staying at this location I experienced great service from hotel staff. This location is spot on for for VA service members and staff alike. Negative: Unfortunately the location has it¿s bad side also. Because of surrounding food establishments this makes for both, a pleasant and unpleasant aromatic experience.

2022-04-06We were very happy with our stay. Clean, quiet, comfortable, and close to everything we wanted to do. Lots of restaurants nearby as well as shopping. Loved it and hope to return

2022-06-14Positive: Location and price Negative: Internet signal was not strong enough on second floor to sign on to the internet and it was unsecured. Coffee was not fresh. Hotel had been partially refinished but some of the fixtures were obviously original causing a weird clash of colors.

2022-03-03Positive: Location was convenient to many restaurants Negative: Check in staff was kind and fairly efficient but had a small child (toddler) with her. Breakfast does not begin until 7am which was to late for us to take advantage of during our multi night stay.

2022-07-09What a hidden treasure. Pet friendly clean courteous and the outdoor sitting area is a Oasis. Putting green water fountains just amazing and very affordable
