I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp and chicken, fried calamari and Thai tea. The drunken noodles was delicious, perfectly seasoned and spicy just the way I like it. The calamari was crispy served with a sweet and savory sauce and shredded veggies. The Thai tea was a tad sweet so I allowed the ice to melt and it was perfect. They have really fast service my order was ready in less than 10 minutes and stayed hot the entire ride home.
Hands down the BEST Laos food in Philly. We went for lunch and ordered the Laos Sampler and the rice cake with beef jerky. SO MUCH flavor and reminds me of home. The service was excellent, our server was polite and attentive, best customer service Ive had in a LONG time. We will stop by every time we are in Philly.
I love every dishes we ordered. The foods are absolutely delicious. Friendly owner and staff, reasonable price, big portions, clean place, and easy to find a parking. It’s BYOB. Highly recommend, I think it’s the best Thai restaurant I try so far in PA. Will definitely come back again :)
I got the order just a moment ago. I read the menu for “beef green curry Fried rice” for $15 (round up). They just charged me for 16$ with regular fried rice and add beef for $2. Total for 18$ WITHOUT taxes and delivery and tips together. I dont mind, but i called and confirmed and the lady could not explained to me why! I was like whatever, i paid it, but that really unexceptable.
Really cute thai restaurant with great service! The thai iced tea was delicious and the pad thai was incredible too. I went with my friend who was less familiar with thai food and the waitress was so patient with explaining the menu and accomodating. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends in the area.
Delicious good, great space for a big group or q quiet dinner. Its located in South Philly, closer to Italian market and can be easily accessed by public transit. We loved Tom yum soup, which wasnt very spicy. The Thai sampler is a great way to get a taste of different things, and as you will see in the photo is good to share between 3-4 people. Their massaman curry is simply amazing!!! And to top it up, its BYOB.
I really love this place, their food is excellent. I feel that theres a hesitance inside of me and perhaps others to share about such a great place since youre afraid to tell people since theyll get swamped and it makes you hesitant to share the really good gems. Anyways, having moved past that, their food is downright excellent, to the point of joy. I dont even like tom ka soup, but I really like theirs. Its got a smoothness and complexity that Ive never experienced before that forces me to rethink tom ka. Everything else is also really well integrated and layered. Outside of the food, theyre also great the interior has a really nice atmosphere. I only regret not remembering to go there more often.
The food was good. A few dishes were a little off in terms of taste (you might consider avoiding the tide crepes with tasted mostly like cellulose gel), but the overall entre and experience of this place was enjoyable. I would highly recommend the young girl on fire which is basically Cornish hen sauteed in their special sauces and mixed vegetables. Id eat here again.
Great customer service walking in.. nice atmosphere, first time here and immediately felt comfort. The food is so flavorful and fresh. I order the spicy green curry, chicken fried rice for my son(very healthy plate size wise), also vegetable spring rolls.. which were delicious and the sweet & sour sauce that accompanied it. Overall food, service, location, bathrooms were clean, and food was prompt coming out. Thank you and I will definitely be back.
If you’re looking for a real Asian umami experience, look no further. (Yes look up the meaning of the word “umami”) :-). Come enjoy the taste of real authentic Thai cooking. The owner/ chef is talented, charming, smart & beautiful. Chef’s culinary delights are uncompromisingly traditional. Dishes are perfectly balanced made from fresh ingredients which are never frozen. Enjoy the hand made Thai crepes, dumplings, and rolls and so much more. She slow cooks the curry for hours!Virginia Woolf said “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well”. So get on track and bring some passion into your life. Dine here!
I have to recognize that the service and the quality of the food has been improved compared to the service a few months ago, I went there last Friday with my wife and we had a lot of fun! This place is BYOB so you can bring your booze and enjoy delicious Thai food meanwhile.I recommend to get an appetizer and a chefs special... I dont eat certain things and they make my food according to my needs. Awesome place.Im looking forward to come back more often
Superb food. One of the gems in south Philly. I love their soups, sautéed entrees, and fried rice. Everything has been fresh and flavorful. So grateful for this place. Not sure if they are doing dine-in but it’s the perfect place to order something for that Netflix and Chill night.
Best food in Philadelphia. My Lao style Papaya salad, sticky rice with meat or fish is succulent. Staff is super friendly and attentive. The owner is amazing. I wish I live in Philadelphia to frequent this establishment more. However its always the highlight of my trip when I go to PHL.
Ordered thru DoorDash. Food is delicious. My hubby is half Italian and half European and has eaten nothing but American and Italian food growing up. So he’s always effy about trying food out of his comfort zone and he LOVED the beef drunken noodles. Definitely recommend this place. Delicious.
First and last time I will order from this place. Had the Laos sampler and it wasnt as good as it looks. The spring rolls had too much noodles in it, the beef jerky wasnt beef jerky. Its just marinated beef seered on a pan and the texture was tough, too well done. The Laos sausage was sweet and the meat inside of it was pink and didnt look cooked. The papaya salad was okay. They didnt asked for the level of spiciness I wanted so there werent no modifying that. The taste was sweet and spicy. The tiny cubes of lime on the side, you have to add yourself. So dissatisfying and it ruined my night. Ugh...
Decent Thai food. They recently changed the size of their take-out containers though. The plastic containers are now very shallow, so you get less food for the same price. Very tricky, not so clever tho because I probably wont be ordering again soon. Was left hungry after finishing my meal at home.
While going for a drive to get out of the house,we came across this hidden gem and decided to give it a try being that my family is Thai and I sure miss my grandmothers cooking. The cook was amazing! She came out and spoke to my grandmother on the phone to try and figure out what I was looking for! The food was amazing, this is for sure authentic mouthwatering Thai food. I will be back for sure!
Food is not even good at all. All the food had nothing but ginger in it. Who eats raw ginger...in their beef salad? Papaya salad was very bland. Where’s the flavor? Food was very expensive for the portion they gave and they aren’t a high class restaurant. Very very disappointed with all the food. Sticky rice... $3 for a handful? Ridiculous. Their beef jerky is not even beef... it’s dried up charred pork. Save yourself the trouble going there... just go to FDR for your Laos and Thai food. Not worth coming here.
The restaurant was decent looking inside, but the food was not very good at all. They have the worst pad thai Ive ever had. I did not complain, but I was extremely disappointed. The waitress was very nice and smiled often. The ceiling tiles had white plastic tape covering over the metal parts located in between the tiles, something Ive never seen before. I ordered number 4 hot, and the food was not even a tad bit spicy at all, and the tofu, was slightly mushy inside and almost ice cold and the entire dish was only luke warm. I probably shouldve complained, but since I was with other individuals, I decided to stay quiet. I wanted to love this place, but unfortunately it was a fail. I hope this restaurant takes this review and utilizes my information to correct the flaws, as itll be in their best interests if they want to remain in business. Have a Blessed Day.....Update 02-08-20:I lowered my rating to one star after I did not receive a reply back from the restaurant. A meaningful apology goes a long way, but selfishness and greediness, goes a whole lot further.
One of my favorite Thai/Laos places in the area. I’ve ordered enough times to try about half their menu. You really cannot go wrong with whatever you choose. Some of my favorites outside of classics are the laos sausage, green curry fried rice, kao pad poe teak (lemongrass fried rice), and pad himmaparn.
It was my first time going here under new management but its still great! Easily one of my favorite Thai places I tried the green curry fried rice and the fried calamari and the only problem I had was that there wasnt more food. Great place to go on dates as its very quiet and the waiters are very attentive. Cant recommend it more.
Food is AMAZING, prices reasonable, service courteous & attentive, owner/chef came out at the end of the evening to personally check on customers, did I say food is AMAZING? B/c food is AMAZING...Id give more than 5 stars if I could. Best Thai Ive had in our area, period.
This place is Definitely one of my all time favorites. The quality of the food is to die for and the service is amazing! The price of the dishes are worth way more than they charge if you ask me but Im not gonna complain. All in all this place is too good for words. You have to try to understand!
Went there for Mother’s Day last year. There were no rice and noodle left over. We also heard fighting and cruising noise from kitchen area. Kinda terrible.... So after almost 1 year, we went back to this place to give a try again. Of course. It’s another very very disappointmented experience. How can the chef doesn’t know how to cook pad Thai???? That noodle looks like shitt! Omg!!!! Every single dish is cold. Not same anymore under new ownership. Don’t go to this place to water money and night!
Delicious food, cool decor, friendly staff, reasonable prices, and its never been overly packed while I was there, to my surprise. Also, the music, which is always the same series of female vocalists doing mostly decent jazz covers of popular music of all kinds, is, although it may sound tedious, not at all to me, or at least not yet (havent heard a repeated cover and have been there four or five times so it must be a long list). The jazzified pop song musical accompaniment in fact kind of seals the deal in my mind that this spot is my current favorite eatery.
Located on the southern edge of centre city, this cozy place is just off Washington Avenue on a small commercial strip of south 11th street. Decor is typically Thai: richly carved teak wood panneling, gold accents, attractive art work, and pleasant mostly instrumental music in the background. The place is popular with all ages and attracts a good share of the Asian community for lunch and dinner. The menu covers both Thai and Laotian dishes. If you want your Thai food spicy hot, they will provide you with an array of peppers, but serve their dishes on the mild side to suit most customers. Portions are reasonable. You wont leave this place stuffed to the gills, but you will be satisfied. Food is cooked to order. If you want something special, they will make it for you if possible. Service and servers are friendly, very polite and professional. Bring your own alcohol, this is a BYO place. They have a loyal following of customers that I recognise on a regular basis. There are a lot of folks dropping by throughout the evening to pick up orders placed by phone on their way home. Prices are very fair for the quality of food, service, and atmosphere.
Food is really good.... However, Ive ordered by telephone and food has been delivered within a 1 hour or less window... Today I called, they would not answer their phone, so I ordered on GRUBHUB, I get the food in 1 hour 45 mins later... Delivery person said its the restaurants fault, no apology, and walked away.... At least a courtesy call to let me know there running behind, but almost two hours?????

2022-03-29Whenever I am craving for Thai food this is definitely one of my go to Thai restaurant in south Philly. My favorite appetizer is the fish cake and the Thai sausage. I love their Tom yum soup. The portion of the soup is big enough to share for 2 people. My favorite entree is the Ratchada duck. I can literally eat a whole bowl of rice with just this sauce and rice that’s how good the sauce is. We came here tonight with our friend and decided to let the restaurant surprise us with dishes rather then us picking out the dishes ourselves. Everything we had was delicious. The service is always exceptional. Waitress is so friendly and attentive. They constantly come by to check on us. For anyone who have never tried this place definitely need to give this place a try. It’s definitely a hidden gem in south Philly. I promise if you give you this place a try, you will definitely come back for more.

We really liked the food , portions etc. will def come back and suggest my friends to this place . Top of the item we tasted are reg fried rice , chicken satay. 2022-04-26Calm atmosphere and very accommodating hospitality here at this wonderful Thai restaurant. This is definitely another Philadelphia hidden gym and Chef Lockett is a very down to earth and sweet person. Her food is very captivating and delightful and she will even come check to see how her gas or enjoying the food from time to time this definitely made me feel special and this type of customer service definitely deserves five stars and stands out amongst the rest of the restaurants that I visited in Philly. Glad that me and my special friend went to enjoy her food again definitely give it a try Im sure it only takes one time to get hooked because I sure did.

2022-05-21Came to Ratchada on a Friday afternoon for lunch with my family and left full and satisfied. We ordered the Buddha dumplings, Thai spring roll, Thai crepes and fried calamari for appetizers with my favorite being the calamari. For entrees we ordered pad Thai, Thai basil chicken, duck curry entree and fried rice. In my opinion the pad Thai and Thai basil chicken were the best. The waitress was kind enough to let us know that the mangos for the mango sticky rice were not ripe and recommended we avoid ordering that for dessert this visit. However, I did try the mango sticky rice prior to this visit many months ago and it was amazing, definitely encourage you to order it if they say the mangos are ripe!

Stumbled upon this place in the area after ethnic food shopping. We had Thai food so many times but nothing like this.Beautiful flavors, beautiful presentation and very knowledgeable staff.Ratchada duck was my favorite out of all the exceptional dishes we ordered to try. If you are a soup person, dont miss the Laotian onion soup. Its very unique and flavorful. Here are the pictures. We liked it all!
