First of all, theres SO much empty space and so LITTLE seating. I ordered a Latte (I have been ordering them everywhere lately so I base my experience on everywhere else in Philadelphia area). My drink burnt and impure. Im a coffee connoisseur and I know a good cup when I taste one and this wasnt it at all. Over all, place is average! It wasnt too bad but I felt a little uncomfortable there!
Good coffee, good price, kind of some covid crazies though. I had forgotten my mask and the lady at the front aggressively asked if I had a mask then pointed me in the direction of their extra masks to which I obliged and got one and as I was doing so I was met with a condescending “you’ll need one next time so don’t forget” and for this reason I won’t be returning to these weirdos.
Ive been a customer for several years now. The coffee here is consistently some of the best Ive ever had.Its evident that the roasters know what theyre doing. I have yet to drink a ReAnimator coffee that I havent liked! The few times Ive experienced issues with my orders (which has been very rare), the customer service has always been extremely responsive and very helpful.Cant recommend them enough!
One of my favorite roasteries in Olde Kensington. If you are looking for coffee beans, they typically carry single origin coffees that are delicious. Make sure to read their labels and the process used to produce the coffee; you will be surprised. I love getting Cappuccinos at this place. I feel they use the right amount of milk for my taste.
Ordered one of their limited edition single origin coffees. It arrived quickly which is great. But I wish you guys would indicate on your website if the coffee is a light, medium, or dark roast. I despise light roast coffee and took a gamble that the one I ordered would be to my liking. It did not suit my palette at all, way too light.
Came to get coffee here this morning 10/19 and my boyfriend lost his mask along the way. The girls working we’re extremely rude when we were asking if they had one extra for him. if you own a business during these times you should have boxes of extra masks for customers in case of situations like this. We had our Vax cards ready to show to dine in but ended up just leaving bc they would not provide him with a extra mask. Staff needs improvement. Especially in these times.
I liked the space for being not stuffy or crowded, but the whole coffee experience for me was quite unpleasant, because it is never just about the beverage, it also has to do with people who work there. This place totally lacked that people factor. Not going back or recommending it to anyone especially if you are looking for a good coffee place experience. As far as coffee goes, I got a cappuccino. Their version of capuccino wasnt cappucino I know...
I love their coffee with all my heart, but freelancers occupy this place on a regular basis, working on their computers, so it totally kills the vibe of a coffee shop. They gotta limit the time one person can be at a table on a computer. Or add more tables for working only, and separate area for customers who want to enjoy coffee, there’s enough space for both.
The space is amazing. They roast their own coffee here, using a 12kg Probat roaster.Coffee is very good! single origin and blends are light and rich. One of the best beans I have ever had in my life are from here. The staff is very knowledgable and super friendly. It is a place you must visit if you are a true coffee lover.
Order: Pour Over (Single Origen Ethiopian), pretzel shortbread cookiePrice: $9Pros: They have a great interior seating including an enclosed upstairs work area, this is probably the best coffee shop Ive ever been to from a work perspective. They roast their own coffee, really high quality beans.Cons: It is just a tad bit more expensive than most coffee shops Ive been to by about $1Thoughts: Our first coffee shop stop in Philly and we managed to pick a pretty good one. Reanimator has an incredibly spacious, well lit interior that feels perfect for sitting around and sipping coffee or getting work down. There are a lot of seats so you should be able to find seating at most times, and if you really want to focus and get work knocked out they look to have an enclosed work environment that is up on the second floor. It looked like a really unique idea, but as Im not here doing work I didnt really test it out.The coffee didnt take too long to arrive and it was delicious. Great body, very pronounced flavor notes, not too dark of a roast on the bean, and overall just a delightful cup of coffee all around. While they dont make the pretzel shortbread cookies in house they paired really well with the coffee. Its essentially a shortbread cookie with a coating of pretzel dough on the outside. The light, buttery sweetness worked really well with the coffee.Id definitely recommend Reanimator to anyone in the area and if we had more time we might even come back, but given that I only have a few days in the city to eat all the food and drink all the coffee that’s a bit unlikely.
We travel constantly. We found this amazing place after 6 weeks of traveling through Israel, Rome and Morocco. This place served us 2 days in a row, better flat whites then we had had in the last month. The atmosphere is pretty good too high cellings, outdoor seating and a clean bathroom. We will definitely be back next time we are in Philadelphia!
Out of the way location which allows it to be far less crowded than typical city coffee houses. The coffee here is very smooth with an extremely high energy kick. This is the type of coffee location where you will go out of your way to get to when you are in town. If you are a coffee drinker, give this place a chance and you wont regret it!
This place is a savior in the Olde Kensington neighborhood as there isn’t much else until you get to Frankford Ave. They do coffee extremely well, but there is not much in the way of food here other than little snacks. I recommend the iced coffee, pour overs and the pretzel cookies. The decor is nice and they have indoor and outdoor seating.
Great peaceful coffee shop but the seating is mainly next to the big windows which isnt that great for working on your laptop because of the glare that you get pretty much no matter where you sit. If that doesnt matter to you then everything else about this place is great. Friendly servers
This branch of Reanimator is a little out of the way, but because of that its never too loud or noisy. The coffee there is great and so was their tea! If youre looking for something sweet and refreshing, try their summer soda (chamomile, honey, and seltzer). It might have been just a Sunday thing, but the orange creamsicle donut I got to try there was top notch!
Buy something immediately or be invited to leave the place. Thats how it happened. I just moved to Philly and spent the last couple of weeks going to coffee shops in my new neighborhood. There are many great ones in the area, but I especially like this one for reading because it has big windows and is just three blocks from my house. Over the course of two weeks, I came back five times, staying an hour or two between reading and writing, spending something around $ 10 or $ 15 for a couple of cortados and croissants every time. Well, today I arrived around 11 am and waited for my partner to arrive and finally get something for the two of us. After 30 minutes or so, while I was reading a book, an employee came out from behind the counter to ask me if I was going to order something, otherwise I would have to leave the place. Was I taken as a suspect of not being a customer? It was an embarrassing situation, which I have never experienced before. The place was far from being packed, more than half of the seats were empty. I felt unwanted, watched, disrespected. It was awkward, a bad surprise and a big disappointment with a place I had liked so much at first. Oppressed by the clerks lack of elegance, I went with him to the cashier and anticipated my order feeling lousy and uncomfortable. I have to say it, it was a terrible human experience. If you are reading this text, be warned: youd better pull out your wallet to buy your right to seat immediately, proving youre here strictly as a buyer before someone kicks you out. The irony is that I would have inevitably bought something in no time, as I always do, only respecting my temporality as a client and not being obliged to do it by an employee (and this text would never exist and I would keep returning with a book, and, of course, buying cortados and croissants). I hope this review can serve the owners to better plan their treatment policy in relation to their clients and the community they serve.
Espresso was great, but the cappuccino was clearly botched — latte art was an attempted but failed heart, and milk was over-steamed. No personality or charm detected in the baristas. Barista set drinks on opposite side of the bar from where I was sitting and called them out and made me get up and walk around to pick them up (there were no other customers ordering anything). My biggest complaint, though, is that there is a CAMERA POINTED IN THE BATHROOM WINDOW. There is only one bathroom, and it does not have a curtain to block the cameras gaze (or the potential vantage points from any of the dozen windows overlooking the bathroom window). I cant believe no one else is talking about this. The camera is literally aimed straight at the toilet. Creepiest bathroom Ive ever been in.
Latte $4.5: very smooth and beautifully arted with foamHummus on everything bagel: I LOVE the bagels here, very chewy and they added a special herb that makes it better. The hummus is excellent tooBeignet $3: must order! Chewy in texture and has a sour taste at the backend, highly recommend! There are a lot of seats and plugs here, very suitable for studying! Finally found a cafe suitable for reading and waiting for meThe space is spacious and the socket is very quiet. The latte is also delicious!100% return visit

2021-11-13This is probably one of my favorite coffee shop in philly. The location in master street is convenient and very fitting to the new neighborhood of Olde Kensington, and of course the hipster vibe Fishtown. My go to is the cap, but tried the latte today and was so amazing. I had top stop myself from gulping down the whole thing. The texture was so smooth and the sweetness of well steamed whole milk really blended well with their espresso beans. If you want to try something little new, try their espresso tonic! (Pic attached). Will be coming back here of course. Highly recommend.

2022-06-17A coffee place that has no sugar, regular or raw, only syrup. Good look getting the right amount of sweet if youre having espresso or macchiato.

2022-03-31Stopped in yesterday for the first time at the master st location. asked for a tea latte and was told they only had “regular” black tea. i have never been to a coffee shop that didn’t carry tea. it’s bizarre. it’s literally a bag and there’s no extra equipment needed. guess i’ll be sticking to one shot and the gryphon, even though i’m in this area all the time. BIZARRE

2020-01-24The baristas here are awesome. They’re super friendly and accommodating, not to mention extremely knowledgeable. Their recipes for their single-origin pour overs and espresso are great, paying the utmost detail to making sure your coffee is brewed with care. The space has beautiful light because of the high windows. It can get a little cold in the winter, but it has a warm vibe regardless.

2018-10-28Great coffee. Simple design. Extremely quiet (maybe too quiet). Parking isnt the best. The food was ok. Solid staple for a quiet place with good coffee. I got a mocha latte and peanut butter cookie. Delicious.

2019-12-14World Class Coffee in a Chill Atmosphere. Whenever I travel to a new city, I like to visit the best coffee spots and soak in the city. Id heard great things about ReAnimator, and they lived up to the reputation. This place is awesome--truly epic espresso, competition-level cappuccino, and a cool vibe. Went to ReAnimator early on a Saturday morning. Its was quiet and laid back, with some good people watching and some AWESOME cute doggo watching. I felt like I got a taste of one of Phillys cooler neighborhoods. But most of all the coffee was on point. The single origin Costa Rican was one of the best shots Ive had in a long time, perfectly roasted and meticulously brewed. The capp was really delicious, served with a beautiful tulip. 🌷☕
