This place is the best! Always greeted with a smile. Love the staff and Bella has had a crush on Monty for 4 years. Great place. Needed a specialty kitten product. They ordered it, and had it the next day. The staff are wise, compassionate, and animal focused. Highly recommend!
TL;DR: The judgmental owner plays a game of picky capitalism, and if you are into having petty discussions and judging people by their skin color, this is the place for you!We went to this place 3 times.The first time, we mentioned to the owner that their prices were very competitive as compared to other local places and that we would frequent them more often. We had a discussion, that I will get to later.The second time, the items we mentioned were competitive were no longer competitive. The discussion at this time was not a discussion, but a picky conversation, I will get to that later.The third and final time, was another picky conversation prior to purchasing an item, which turned into the owner mocking us.The discussions we had the first time was aggressively inquisitive, and we obliged because we didnt know this owner had problem with people of color, or class.The second discussion turned into a conversation only to the brown person in our party, with a sniping, snide, just down right blatant tone you give to someone you want to never shop with you again. Accusatory, of stealing or just ruining the vibe, unwanted- the owner just will have a full on conversation with another person, usually a mom with a young child, then snipe brown persons. I will stand there, make eye contact and just look like I was having a tough time finding an item, and she would snipe, then go back to their conversation with a mom.The third time, the owner went straight into their blatant racist game, once again sniping and talking to a mom. Then, when questioned about an items price (48.99) I mentioned, revealing myself to be with the brown person as a white person, that we could find it for 18 online. Where she mocked me, saying for me to go get it online.Their products are subpar, I would adopt their animals just to keep them from rubbing off on the animals or selling them to persons like them.Their service is accusatory of customers based on class and skin color.Their location is in a high traffic area, which makes no sense to treat the surrounding population who most likely either supports great local businesses or shops online.I have told all of my facebook friends with animals, all of the local animal businesses, all of my twitter followers, to not shop here, and I hope I have convinced you to support other local businesses which are healthy for the community. Im fine with owners who are curt, and seemingly rude and untrusting of everyone, but when you are picky with distrust, when you choose who to snipe, thats when I create an account on here just to remind people that service is service, and capitalism means choices.Make the right choice and shop somewhere else.

Tiny but mighty pet shop. They carry so many quality products and offered to order a product for me they didnt have. Also their shop cat Monty is the best little king.
Friendly staff. They always have tons of great items tucked away in this cute little store. Beats going to a petco or chain any day
This is a great shop. It is my go to place for my pet supplies. It is through them that I adopted my two cats. They work through local rescue services.
They will gladly order items for you that they don’t stock. Also, they deliver.Very friendly and helpful staff.

2021-11-26When I walked into this store I was taken aback by the smell of cat urine , but it was the attitude of the girl working there is what inspired me to write this review. I mentioned that the smell was intense and that I couldn’t stay … As I needed to shop I turned back and said that I would be fast because of the odor. I was SHOCKED when the girl said, and in a very terse tone, “WELL THEN STOP TALKING ABOUT THE SMELL !!! ” I am a senior and I have NEVER been treated so rudely !!! I responded that I own 3 very similar pet product shops in Nashville Tn, and that the reputation of a shop is only as good as the people work with the clients … Her response ?? “It’s a good thing that I do not work an ENTITLED B#itch LIKE YOU!!” Wow … To treat ANYONE, let alone someone with a disability like that is UNBELIEVABLE 😓 . I feel badly for the owner of this shop as it is tidy and well stocked with high end products, but without employees to to interact to promote sales and to receive feedback to improve the customers experience, her store will never have the reputation that it truly deserves. I left with my $60.00 purchase, and feeling VERY thankful for the employees that I have in my shop !!!

2017-10-03I went to Rittenhouse Square Pet Supply around a month ago to see if they had any kittens on adoption as I was already decided on adopting one. Luckily I found this furry ball that is making me the happiest person! Melissa was very nice and generous, we were at the store with 2 friends of mine for more than an hour and she was patient and gave us a lot of advice. She really takes care of the cats she has! Their cats are rescued ones by PAWS so they are neutered, have all their vaccines, micro chips, etc. The process was very smooth. Thanks Melissa!

2021-08-29This pet store is NOT it. I was a regular customer for some time, they carry a particular brand of food that I buy and I always attempt to support smaller, privately owned shops. Every time I came in here, I felt the staff was less than willing to help and almost on the verge of judgmental towards me and my dog. It was their way of speaking and mannerisms, felt very inauthentic and almost mocking. The final time I came in to ask if they carried a specific, widely used and highly recommend (by vets and dog trainers worldwide) training aid. I was told something like they didn’t carry “those types of products” which was all I needed to hear to immediately leave and never drop a penny of my money in this place ever again.

2021-04-29I stopped in to grab a variety of wet cat food to see which one my cats would like best. They seem to change their tastes every few months. The service was super friendly and helpful. Despite being a relatively small shop, they had lots of options to choose from. I’ll definitely be going back.

2022-03-09This store is never open during the hours they say they’re open. I went yesterday during business hours and it was locked up. I went today and it had a sign saying “be back in 5 mins.” I gone to the store twice when this sign has been up. Ridiculous.

2020-07-22Local pet supply shop. Not the hugest selection but Ive always found what I needed for my cat. Super friendly staff. Monty, the shop cat, will sometimes follow me around looking for face rubs, other times he sleeps.

2019-08-29I used to be a loyal customer until my most recent experience with rittenhouse pet supply.I purchased a comfort zone pheromone technology kit. Kit came with 1 diffuser and 1 refill for $40. The box was already open when she sold it to me - I trusted that it was still in brand new condition.I try to buy local when I can, in this case, I could get 3 diffusers and 5 refills online for $55. I went to return the kit (within 24 hours) and the staff refused to accept my return because the box was open. She then proceeded to call me cheap because I was returning it - didnt get her name but she was short, light brown hair with a pixie cut.They lost both mine and my boyfriends business from this. Ill save money buying online - rittenhouse pet supply is way overpriced anyway.

2013-03-04Rittenhouse Pet Supply is my favorite pet store, because of their large variety of dog & cat food, toys and cloathes, and treats; as well as their superior & friendly customer service. They even have a store cat, and adopt out cats too. My dog loves it here, and its easy to see why. When he was having stomach issues, they recommended several kinds of food - and let us try out samples. This is the kind of store that is hard to find, a real gem of a pet store.
