You have to try this place. Yes, the decor & vibe is a time warp straight back to the 80s but its charming and wait till you taste the food. I got the broiled seafood combination and it was outstanding. Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. The scallops were sweet, the crab stuffing was perfect. The house dressing on the Greek salad was to die for. Very fresh and crisp lettuce - one of the ways I judge a restaurant. Also got the spinach & artichoke dip: very good.
Stayed there for about 3 weeks back in 2015. Traveling alone, I spent a lot of time in the bar with John. Heβs a great host and a exceptional chef. If Iβm ever out that way again, Iβll definitely stop bye. Scenery in the area is beautiful as well, being from Chicagoland this place was very unique to me. This place is a relic, itβs old school, itβs got a cozy atmosphere, itβs vintage, appreciate it because these places are few and far between anymore. Hope your doing well John.
Ive driven past this place a lot ,throughout my 36years. Finally stopped in the other day. So happy I did! I had drunken clams and crab bisque soup...sooo good! Definitely going back to try more off the menu. They have specials too! So my next visit will probably be for $3 Taco Tues
Ion a life long resident of the area for 46 years. Iβm kinda sad lan Jane and never like a change John hit me yo try some f g ifferent things a wow the good is amazing. Iβve instance I just hsd London broil smashed potatoes and zuccinhi. Iβmit was our of this world and then he hopped off with a watermelon margarita with fresh rip w atermelon I was in heaven!!!!!
I had a wonderfully prepared dinner. Short ribs, fries, cornbread and slaw. The ribs were good, as they should be, the fries were one of the best Ive had, with a lot of crunch, and the slaw was nice with lots of vinegar. Its a bit empty inside, a function of the location, and inside a tad dated. But, nontheless, the atmosphere was still pleasant.
Ate here years ago and it was a dim bar. When I went with a group of people on a Thursday night for a semi-formal dinner, it was wonderful. The prices were reasonable, the food was delicious and the service prompt and friendly. I had a great steak, and several people in the group had lamb and said it was the best theyve had.
Been coming here for years growing up but has been many years since i visited the area again to come back. It has atmosphere, wonderful food, the waitress just as good as the food. Everything was perfection and it was as i remembered...a lovely place to go for a quiet meal in beautiful setting. thanks
Me and my family have been going here for over 10 years. The owner is hilarious and friendly. The two dishes I recommend the most are the meatloaf or teriyaki salmon. Simply delicious. If you like chocolate, the chocolate flourless cake is a perfect dessert indulgence.
Stopped in for a coffee while traveling with my family and was not happy with the brown water without the extra sugar I asked for, literally brown water with a hint of coffee flavor. Beautiful inside and nice clean bathrooms with friendly service and family atmosphere. A little bit dated but still classy.
My wife and I were taking a walk along the river, and my wife had to go to the bathroom. This place was the first thing we saw. Yes, we notices the sign that said restrooms are for customers only, but we figured that since the place was not busy and my wife was in tears and her face was red holding it, that maybe they would let her use the restroom. The guy there, whom I would assume be the owner, told us there was a public restroom across the street. So we said thank you and went outside to look. He lied to us. There was no public restrooms. When we went back inside, I told him that there were no public restrooms. I begged him that we would buy food and be customers if he let us use the restrooms, he got angry and raised his voice. He said I was a liar and did not really go outside. He shooed us outside, and when he realized that he couldnt lie about the public restrooms across the street, he then lied again and said it was across the parking lot pointing to a building hidden in the bushes. When we went over there, it was a house. I bet the food is great there but I cant respect a place that deprive people of a basic human need even when they are begging to use the restroom and then offered to become customers just to use the restrooms. If you cant respect people enough to help them, than I am glad we didnt eat your food even if it is good.
Real nice place to get together with friends and family good food nice bar room with booths surrounding if you dont want to sit at the bar also a large dining room away from The bar as well it seems they also have a private banquet hall for partys prices are fair definitely worth stopping in!
At $60 a night, it is reasonable. Nothing fancy here. Just a bed to sleep in. The Greek couple who owns it is very nice, but it is an old fashioned operation. I only stayed one night, but in their sign-in book (yeah, that is a thing) there were several people who had stayed a week or longer.Queen bed, toilet, shower, public Wi-Fi that I did not try out. There was both heat and AC in our room. When everything else was sold out, and on eight hours notice, this place had rooms.Did not eat in the restaurant.
DO NOT BOOK A ROOM THERE! Old, outdated, unclean and Decorated in Early Dumpster. This place should be completely re-modeled or torn down! When I checked in the room was being cleaned so I expected a clean room. There was a blob of hair in the shower and the room actually looked like it was furnished with furniture from a dumpster or the local land fill. Chairs were torn, the tables are gross, the lamps were pulled from a dumpster. No phone in room, the hot water for the shower was hit or miss and the bathroom was a joke. Bring your own light bulbs because every light has a tiny bulb, bring your own towels, and always wear footwear. Better yet, book a room at any other hotel nearby!
Second time we drove half hour to get there and guess what, there not open ,how can you run a business that has no regular hours ? Call first or go to the Richmond food is better there anyhow well now 11-1 18 they now have regular hours and the best is breakfast on Sunday

2021-09-01Came here for dinner on our last night in town. Wish we would have discovered this gem earlier. Food and service was excellent and the beer was nice and cold! John the owner is a hysterical grouchy old Greek and we loved his humor! It was so good we had breakfast the next day! Oh and if you get the London broil, make sure you ask them to slice it thinβ‘π

2022-02-09We ate here for a memorial service. Its definitely a throw back to 80s , maybe even 70s. Very dated atmosphere. However, food was good, service very good.As a small town place , Ive heard its a staple of reliable good stuff.Awesome view of bridge and river. Almost like you are in its a wonderful life.

2022-05-04Got a craving for a steak, 3 local diners no steak so we went to the Riverton. As close to putting dinner on the table at home then any place Ive been. Want a quiet dinner thats a delicious meal without the work or dishes! Very reasonable prices. Friendly owners\/staff. Excellent pickles and many varieties baked goods regularly. From scratch! Like pumpkin bread or roll started with actual pumpkins. No pouchs or cans straight up from scratch.

2022-04-13If youβre looking for a truly home style meal, this is the place. The smoked salmon has absolutely got to my favorite. And when the owner comes around to have you try his own homemade pickles , absolutely to die for. This place is so peaceful I love it!

2022-04-07The Riverton is made special by the family that runs it. Quintessential. Papa brings the drinks, daughter takes your order and mama does dessert. Theyre always kind. The menu is diverse. I would stick to the Greek offerings. Theyre the best but as a vegan I love their teriyaki stir fry. Crunchy veggies and umami flavor.

2017-01-24An historic, couple-owned, old school 80s-renovated hotel/restaurant and bar with sizeable rooms for private events. Just a short jaunt over the Delaware Water Gap from Belvidere, aside from a few houses, its the only thing around when you cross. I didnt eat when I visited, but I have a hunch it could throw my review up a notch if I did. Cigarette machine included
