Sals in other cities:
It was like stepping in a time machine and going back to 2019. If I had a quarter for every patron who was wearing a mask, I couldn’t buy a cup of coffee. That said, the servers were all delightful, the atmosphere was fun, and the pizza hit the spot. Looking forward to returning.
Last minute dinner here ended in such a great meal. My son had penne with the rosé sauce (tomato sauce and Alfredo mixed together) and it was phenomenal. This is a sauce Ive only ever requested at one other restaurant because anywhere else it has not been good. Now we have another place to get it from!
First timers! Food was really good! We had the Saturday prime rib special and our waitress was THE BEST! She was the young lady that was on her last evening as she was going to have a baby. We joked and said she could sell ice cubes to Eskimos! She was a great asset to your team. We will definitely go back. And the size of the portions are definitely Texas worthy!
If youre ever in the area, you are doing yourself a great disservice if you dont visit here at least once. The servers are very friendly and they are very quick to get you what you need. As far as food goes, this may be the best in the area by a longshot. Go in and get The Boss calzone, you wont regret it. I included pictures of the desserts, I didnt wait long enough to get pictures of the entrees... That being said, that was the best cannoli I had ever eaten
Seemed like a cool place but not handicapped accessible. Bathroom was but all the aisles are tight especially getting in. No waiting area for more than 4 people. Got lasagna and neither my wife or really cared for it. Seemed like a cool establishment but we hoped for more.
We ordered two chicken salads well it was awful the lettuce was bag lettuce and had brown edges it was iceberg lettuce half an egg one ring of onion 6 fries not worth the price only thing was good was the chicken I would not recommend ordering this salad not what you pay for
The service was very bad she came took our order 3 other people got served and there food before we got ares then the only other time she came to check on us was to get the payment I wish we had the other waitress she told the specials our did not and she was very fast and polite .the food was good just very poor service
The problem here is not the quality of the food. This restaurant turns their phones off for any kind of take out orders. I was told by an employee that the chefs throw a fit when they get too many orders. Theyre big babies, so to make them happy, they turn the phones off, and we arent supposed to take any phone orders.Since Covid-19, its been hard to take the time to sit down at a restaurant to eat. I would love to patronize this business because I love their food, but Its hard when I cant get through to do a take out order.
Nice neighborhood bar and grille. Food was okay. Had a steak salad. Mostly iceberg lettuce, cheese, hard boiled egg, a few French fries and about 3 oz. steak. Certainly not worth $13.95. Service was good but took over 30 min to get our food. If youre on a time crunch, dont go here. Sorry.
Excellent food, excellent service. My wife had lasagna and I had prime rib. The prime rib was tender and prepared to perfection. The lasagna to quote my wife, was as good as her grandma made. Our server was a breath of fresh air. Very attentive. Try Sals. Youll be glad you did.
First visit and really enjoyed it! We had the Margarita pizza, which was very good, stuffed mushrooms, bruschetta and salad with chicken breast. Everything was nice size portions and delicious! We sat on the patio, which was spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and attentive. Definitely will be going back!
The food was great! The desserts were delicious. Our waitress Morgan was very good! Shes the best waitress Ive had in a long time. She seemed to be very nice & friendly with the other customers as well. We ❤d her! I havent been to an Italian restaurant that good ever!
Our rolls and butter were delicious and our waiter freely offered us more when we ate our first basket. The food was good, though, I simply had Alfredo with chicken, so thats pretty easy to get right, my friend had a steak sandwich (similar to, but distinct from a Philly cheese steak) which he was very fond of, and I dont remember what my other friends had, but they liked it well enough. The waiter was very friendly, personable, and patient with us. She was so charming it almost felt like she was already our friend before we got started, plus she was rather prompt with refills, once again, without having to ask. Without her, Id have almost considered four stars, as its just a decent Italian restaurant you can take your family too, what could anyone complain about? But I always take notice of how the staff acts, its usually a fair indicator of how theyre treated. And a well staffed establishment with happy employees will always give better service.
The supremely rude/arrogant asian hostess refuses to seat you even though there are over a half dozen empty 4top tables and several booths. Her excuse is that they don’t want to back up the kitchen, an excuse they’ve been using for the last THREE years, but there are a dozen people jammed up in the front door. She would rather inconvenience us by forcing us to sit outside instead of allowing us to sit at a table. Then, there is some really big fat guy walking around and talking to people, instead of actually doing some work to get people in and served. DUDE, no one wants to hear you, they want to eat. HINT HINT ! ! ! !Finally, there is some middle aged woman who is just as arrogant and haughty standing around as if she is in charge. Get people seated and get working!!!!Food is good. Serious room for improvement.
Buffalo chicken wrap was probably the best Ive ever had - the ranch to dip it in was great too. The server was friendly. Overall pretty good experience, but they were playing Sinatra or something super loud. I mean louder than what a normal person would like when listening to Sinatra lol. Also the bench seats by the window are really awkward and arent comfortable at all.
Weve been coming here for years. The last couple of years, the quantity and quality of food and speediness of service have gone to hell. Ordered $8 loaded fries.... received approximately 25 French fries with 9 crumbs of bacon and cheese.Ordered kids pasta and a pizza.... 55 mins later, everyone seated after us was served, we were still waiting.... told only 1 pizza oven and all to go orders are pizza..... sounds like after 35+ years in business, you should DEFINITELY know rods by now..... never agronomy. Well NEVER go back. What a shame..
Latest visit, first since pandemic, slightly disappointed. Service was mediocre, prices were exorbitantly higher than previously. Staff would not let us order our Prime Rib medium rare said best they could do was medium, so we ordered the medium. One was just over medium second one was medium well. Probably won’t return.
Waited 40 minutes for a table and was then told it would be another 45 minutes at least. The bar and restaurant were both near empty, with servers clearing tables, and wasnt even allowed a drink while waiting. Place has gone downhill lately, will find other places for Italian going forward.
I am very disappointed with how the service here has taken a nose dive. I work at an establishment near by and we come as a group once a month to enjoy our lunch here. It has become an issue apparently and we have not been well received the last few times. We even take the time to help them out by calling in our orders beforehand and we get nothing but disgust and terrible attitude for even calling. Such a shame, we have enjoyed doing that and they are so disrespectful to good patrons.
Sals certainly lives up to its reputation. The food is absolutely fresh and delicious. No frozen reheats here. Our server was great. She constantly filled our glasses and had great menu recommendations. If you havent tried it here yet you have to. You wont be disappointed. Also no problem with cleanliness. They cleaned constantly while we were there.
Stopped in after playing golf nearby for an early dinner. So freaking good! It was Italian night so we got two items Chicken Parm and Baked Manicotti OmG DELISH. Calamari app was great and the tiramisu was the best Ive ever had. Honestly a great spot and awesome food. Highly recommend if you are in the area 🍝🍝🍝😋❤️❤️
I live in New Jersey. Im an hour from Manhattan and have eaten in some of the best family style Italian Restaurans. Even a place in South Philly that I always thought was the best of all 3 aforementioned stated. That was until I ate here. The food at this place is absolutly off the hook. I was in Beaver falls for two days last week and enjoyed 4 amazing meals. Seafood primavera twice, the special sandwich with pork, beef, french fries and coleslaw on a perfectly fresh Italian roll( is the key to the sandwich. Whoever is the chef, he or she is absolutly amazing in the flavor presentation. Awesome work. Thank you
I’ve eaten here for almost a year, out of town worker, recently, bar atmosphere and hair in my to- Go order . Only certain times service is good. I use to spend 700 $ a month in here. Not counting tips. If Hanna or Gage are behind the bar it’s the best. In a believer in do me wrong once, shame on you. Do me wrong twice!! Well , shame on me. Won’t be back.
After a long day of traveling by air from Florida, my husband and I took our friends to dinner at Sals. My husband had never been or my friends boyfriend.Best Italian food hands down!! It was tremendous and everyone was so impressed with their dinners. Our waitress was very attentive and so friendly! We cannot remember our waitresses name but we were there on 10/14/20 between 8 and 9 pm. The chicken parm, lasagna and spaghetti with Italian sausage was the best. I have been coming to Sals since I was 13, and have never been disappointed! Thanks again Sals for being so inviting and delicious
Dinner and dessert with the family and this place was an excellent choice! Our waitress was attentive and kind, she specifically asked each of us how we were enjoying our meal which was so considerate. We all had Italian food specials on Tuesday evening and everyone loved their dish- manicotti, calzone, and chicken parm sandwich. We even got dessert to go (limoncello cake and triple chocolate mousse cake) and it was the perfect evening treat!
Sal’s restaurant sells casual food, such as sandwiches, pizza, calzones, and various entrees. My husband and I placed an order at the bar for takeout. The employee was supposed to call or text us when our food was ready for pickup, but she did not, so our food was sitting there for a while. Another employee gave us plastic utensils and wished us a good night. We had ordered the lasagna, chicken quesadilla, chicken parmigiana, and loaded fries for a total price of $55. The food tasted OK.
My fiancé picked up a takeout order and the food was disappointingly cold, but it’s the utter lack of COVID guidelines being followed that will keep us from ordering ever again. Customers were seated at the bar, jammed into the dining room at full capacity with no social distancing, and staff were seen not wearing masks. The food is not cheap, and we expected a better experience, both in terms of quality and sense displayed, by this restaurant.
Prices are somewhat high but thats not my reason for 3 stars. My reason for 3 stars is there is a manager possibly a owner here whos a tall somewhat large italian in appearance man who is extremely rude to staff and walks around here with a cocky attitude and puts the EXCELLENT staff down and ruins the atmosphere. If he is a manager he needs to go elsewhere. If hes the owner and i find out ill never return
Typical Americanized Italian food; not a problem, this can be done well. It is done well, at many places that aren’t Sal’s. Before we get to the food, the service is slow as can be. Our waitress was very friendly, but seemed overworked; we constantly had to wait on refills, plates, silverware, etc. The restaurant was ridiculously loud. Two tables of cackling drunkards in a relatively small are of the restaurant, so loud that not only could we not hear each other, we could barely hear our waitress. What’s really great is that one of these tables got to-go boxes for their food shortly after they sat down, but continued to scream at each other at the table until 5 minutes before we got our bill. Over an hour. Now, the food. The apps were pricier than Sheetz, with worse quality, and some of the tiniest portions I’ve ever seen in an American restaurant. All of the portions were small, save for 2 of our entrees. Oh, the entrees. Shrimp Scampi? Devoid of any flavor. Salt? Nope. Umami? Never heard of it. It tasted like it was tossed with Crisco, which of course didn’t stick to the pasta whatsoever since the pasta felt like it was not only rinsed, but ran through a dishwasher. The worst offender however, by far and away, was the Fettuccine Alfredo. This is a hard one to make bad. Based on everything else in the restaurant, we expected this to be some commercial cheap Sysco sauce. Why we got was worse than the mediocrity expected; it appeared to have been made in house, and I suspect the cream to have been the spoiled culprit. It smelled like hot dog food, but this wasn’t noticed until after the unfortunate first bite, more sour than a fresh squeezed lemonade. Thankfully, this was taken off the bill without too much fanfare. All in all, I genuinely believe the only was restaurants like this survive is because there’s few if any other options, and people grew up with this and don’t know any different. I never thought I’d say this about a restaurant, but skip this place and head to the nearest Olive Garden. You’ll get better service, somehow better food, and it’ll be cheaper with bigger portions. Sal’s claims to be serving old school “Italian” since 1985, and they aren’t lying. The food tastes like it’s been in the kitchen since 1985. I’d be embarrassed to run a restaurant like Sal’s.
Always top notch service and quality...Portion sizes are generous, as is the menu selection. Both a bar and restaurant area make it a good place to take the family, or go for drinks on a weekend evening. It does take quite a while to receive your orders when theyre busy, so consider buying an appetizer.
Very busy on Friday however service is still pretty good did not wait long for food. Red sauce was very good and thick unlike a lot of other places. My wifes hurricane drink was very good and tasty. Fish special was great and fried just right. My only complaint is we did encounter a few fruit flies but that happens. We ended up sitting by the bar area since that was open and we did not have to wait.
Amazing food!! Everything I purchase was spot on. It was homemade and you can tell the appetizer was the god father which was around 17 bucks but well worth it scallops and shrimp were fresh and the sauce you can tell was made with love the stuffed peppers were spicy so watch out. I ordered the seafood primavera which was amazing!! Honestly filling portions worth every penny.
Im not in Pennsylvania very often but when I am visiting, Sals is a mandatory visit with family. The food and service are always outstanding and the waitress named Alyssa is a professional individual thatt conducts herself with the utmost patience and skill. I greatly recommend Sals restaurant if you are in the chippewa area.
Was in the area today Sals was suggested to eat there and I will say the food was excellent as was the service, beer on tap was very cold (which is to me important). I highly recommend this restaurant from pizza to dinners amazing good and I am hoping I get back to the area to eat there again.
I usually like this place today I checked in was told a 20 minute wait it was well over a hr and they seated people in front of us that checked in later very upset with them we walked out. Wont be going back for a while. I sat and listen to them tell every one after me 20 min the wait time never got any longer and no body were leaving
Not being familiar with the area I stopped solely based off reviews. The place was very nice, every single employee was pleasant had a smile and very accommodating. A nice drink selection along with a fabulous menu with wonderful food! They also have daily specials. Ill definitely be back several times before heading out of town.
A bit of a long wait and not many places to sit comfortably, while waiting.Once seated, prompt and friendly service.Clean and professional.Food is all excellent but on the pricier side.Pricey but not over-priced.Open late and take out available.Would recommend to out of town guests, casual gatherings but not for an intimate date as its simply too loud.
We usually have such a great experience that the drive is worth it but not tonight - rather than sit the 2 of us at 6 top table, they would rather have us wait over 15 minutes before we told the hostess we were leaving & going somewhere else because we were tired of waiting. By the way, we were the only people waiting. It will be a long time before Sal’s will see our faces again.
Family and friends have dined here for over 20 years. The menu is full of great food from steak to pizza. Many ITalian dishes to choose from. The portions are generous. The prices are reasonable and has a good selection of appetizers and a full bar. Also has an outside patio protected from weather if not too extreme. I love the food as it is always good and I have never heard a bad review from anyone. It is popular so it can get full at suppertime but worth the wait.
I just sat down it is a nice family Italian eatery I will edit my review when finished with meal but as it stands never been in a restaurant where I could not order bottle of wine cause I am eating only but it is ok to order as many 22 oz beers as I want. I have also never been in a place when you ask for garlic bread and it is two cold slices of bread with cold garlic butter on the side not warm toasted garlic bread I am Italian and have owned my own Italian restaurant for 17 years so for kinda disappointed so far but will edit this review. My edit still three star shells were tasty server great. The cold bread came with meal if you want side of garlic bread was 1.95 which was the same as cold except they charge you to put the butter on and toast it for you crazy. When in area next probably won’t stop here. Great job for the server.
My husband and I found this great Italian restaurant by driving through the town.Real good Italian food, especially the wedding soup and the stuff banana pepper.Very nice people there too! The manager came to the table greeted us and told us the history of the place. Our waitress Teariney was supper nice to us.Highly recommended.Definitely will go back again with my husband , family and friends.
We went there because we heard a lot about how wonderful it is. We tried before, but the wait was long. Our hopes were high, but we were greatly let down. I had a chicken sandwich that was formed and frozen chicken that was so small, they used two. My wife had a Steak salad that was nothing special? Highlight was the basalmic salad dressing. Very, very disappointing.
My wife and I moved to the area almost 5 years ago and kept hearing how great this place was, but hadnt decided to go until the week before last. It was superb. Its a cozy environment as the place is rather small, however, the food and service were both perfect. I played it safe and got Chicken Parm with a side of wedding soup (which were both great - especially the soup), but my wife was a bit more adventurous and opted to try the special. If I remember correctly it was a chicken dish stuffed with crab meat over angel hair pasta with an Alfredo/marinara mixed sauce. She absolutely loved it! We also got a half dozen buffalo wings as an appetizer which were also excellent. The place certainly lived up to its reputation. We will certainly make many return visits, Im sure!
I placed a telephone order and they wanted my cell number to text me when the food was done. I was told that they didnt want people waiting in the restaurant. They told me approximately 35 mins since they were busy. So I arrived at 6:00pm, 5 mins early, just in case. Well, at 6:15 I called and was told they would text me and not to come in. At 6:45pm, I went in, not having gotten a text, just curious as to what was going on. Well, my food was done, and now it was cold, but I did not know this when I picked it up. The Steak and Cheese sandwiches had sweated it out in the box and the bottom of the rolls were soggy. They were far from warm. You could tell the meat had been hot, but it was obvious that it had sat for quite some time. The french fries were flat out cold. The hot peppers were still warm, and for this I paid $41. Yes, I gave them a 20% tip, because of the Corona, however, it was not deserved as no one called me. As I type this, I still have not gotten my its ready text. This was a flat out waste of money and I should have gone to Yolandas. I am beyond upset......
First visit & great first impression! We were seated quickly, our server was very sweet & attentive and our dinners came out fast & done perfectly. I had steak and shrimp. Steak was cooked as requested, shrimp were large and plump, not dry or overcooked as can easily happen. My wife had seafood primavera and raved about it. Just cant say enough good things! We will return.
There seemed to be very little adherence to Covid protocols or keeping customers and staff safe. Customers were packed like sardines in the waiting room, rather than simply instructing them to wait in their cars until their tables were ready. I peaked inside and just about every table was taken. There were even customers sitting at the bar, a clear violation of Pennsylvanias Covid-19 safety procedures. Irresponsible.
I eat here regularly. Great food, and great service. Meals are portioned well, and the taste is out of this world. The owner cares enough hes very hands on. He usually comes to the table to make sure you are satisfied. Best Mai Tai ever! All in an old world style Italian environment, or if you prefer a more modern dining experience they have high top tables at the bar. The patio is nice as well.
Sals is a great restaurant that has that home style feel. It seems that most people that come here are regulars which is a good sign that Sals is doing something right. My husband and I have been here a handful of times and have enjoyed our meals every time. The steak salad is great and their ranch definitely tastes fresh and homemade. My husband got a Steak Foccacia sandwich that is delicious. The foccacia is soft and tastes fresh.Overall if youre in the area I would definitely recommend a stop here because the menu has something for everyone and great service.
In one word- bland!! Everything tasted like nothing, no flavor! Wedding soup tasted like water. The special of the day Chicken Osso Buco had zero crab meat but plenty of stuffing filler, kind of like saw dust. Save your money and go to EAT N PARK for better Italian food. Only good thing was our server, quick and friendly. This place was SAD!!
1st time here Pepsi products to drink im not a fan of sorry ...wife had lasagna i had spaghetti she said it was excellent my spaghetti was good too ...are waiter was polite and friendly dinners came with salads an bread . No waiting for food here ...place was clean also for how small a place it is everything that was out it like it was suppose to be in that spot... nice....
Our food was good, but our waitress was awful. She was very short with us, basically tossed our food on the table, and acted like it was a burden to wait on us. We typically come here for family holiday gatherings, but we will be unfortunately seeking another gathering place next year.
Its OK food, nothing special, but for the prices they charge, you expect something better. You could literally go to a 4 star restaurant and pay the same compared to this place.I ordered a meal and wanted pasta added to it. $10 to add pasta to it. $10. Ten Dollars. Like how? You can add a lobster tail at other restaurants for like $6.
I have never been treated so rudely! Owner should realize if knowing place is buisy! Get the help! We only ordered a pizza and the waitress after a half hr,let me look! Never returned! Every one we watched come in was waited on and food brought. I am not from around here,I would rather go to Belleria in Columbiana and be treated well, and have good food.
I was addicted to the Grilled Chicken Salad with the house Italian dressing. The fries were sooo good, I always ordered some on the side. I encouraged my French fry loving friends to go to Sals...Not anymore, they changed their fries. Fast food fries are better than what they are serving now. Im so disappointed!!!
Very disappointed with dinner, this evening. My daughter just returned to PA from 15 months overseas and having lived in Ohio and Florida for six years. She was very excited to be to eating at Sals. She ordered a steak salad and didnt receive it until most everyone else was packing their take-home containers. On top of that, her salad looked smaller than the side salad...like they ran out of lettuce. Shes a trooper, though, and said that this experience wont stop her from giving them another opportunity to redeem themselves. Also, when appetizers are half priced until six, it should be based on the time you arrive not on the time your order is taken. Or, at least, base it on the time you are served water.
A good Italian place, especially for Pennsylvania. That being said it gets really busy at the usual hours and the staff doesnt always seem to be able to handle it. Bread is also very bland. I dont expect olive garden breadsticks everywhere but its just low in quantity and quality. Also not the cheapest. But if youre in Beaver County and want italian still worth the visit.
Food is good but I need a bigger sampling. I do not feel comfortable rating yet. The fettuccine alfredo with broccoli I got was three stars in my opinion. The lower score is indicative of the broccoli being mixed in and seemingly cooked some in the alfedo sauce, brocolli overpowered the dish. Everyone elses food looked really good. Slightly overpriced too. I may change rating in the future but as of now price may keep me from returning. Especially considering how I felt about the food.

2022-04-11Nice little gem, good food and friendly staff. Really good wedding soup, and everything Ive tried so far was very good. If u like Italian food you need to check this place out. Also supports small business, recipes that people have enjoyed for decades. There are lots of pictures on the wall gives good atmosphere.

2022-06-13This place has some of the best Italian food Ive had in a while! I had the baked crab stuffed shrimp (which was very flavorful, and a nice portion size). The garlic butter is amazing, and everyone (servers, hosts, management) worked with precision. If we are in the area again, we will definitely come back!

2021-08-03We had a last minute group of 20 and Sals was able to accommodate us on their patio. It was perfect!!! Food was awesome, as always! Our waiter was attentive, efficient and fun!!! It was a perfect get together. Some of our party had never been to Sais and were impressed with the food and service. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

2022-04-28I really love the ambiance of this restaurant! However, I ordered a seafood combo and the scallops came out extremely small. Way too expensive for the portion size and drowning in butter. I will return and give them a second chance because there seems to be a lot more to offer on the menu.

2022-07-04I look forward to going to this restaurant when I visit relatives in the area. Famous for their calzones, the Italian stallion, and the boss. But absolutely everything Ive had here is excellent, cant go wrong, and great atmosphere and service too.

2022-06-03Nice atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff. The prime rib special was very good, especially with the mushrooms and onions. Two sides and a large Yeungling draft for about $36 plus tip.
