I adopted Shannon ,baby girl, on Sun 9 -27. The experience was very positive & enjoyable. Dan made the process so stress free unlike other agencies I had dealt with recently. He returned emails & calls & was professional. Adoption was final in only 2 days !! I would strongly recommend SAVED ME to,anyone .
Can anyone tell me whether Saved Me was originally located on 3rd street in Philly? I adopted my Tootsie several years ago from Saved Me and unfortunately needed to rehome her due to a health emergency requiring immediate hospitalization. I took her to Saved Me because I knew they would find a wonderful home for her. And they did. It doesn’t get any better than Saved Me. They are the very best!
The staff was extremely pleasant; the owner (Im not completely sure what youd call him) was combative, condescending and pedantic. While I understand that proper protocol is necessary to ensure the dogs safety, there is absolutely no reason to treat customers so terribly. So, if you decide to visit this shelter, it might be better to minimize your contact with him.We were looking to adopt a dog and heard about this shelter from friends. Although they warned us of the owner, we decided to take a look. Upon arrival, we noticed a strange dichotomy among the staff. The younger members were pleasant and informative. But the older ones, particularly the owner, were at best reticent; at worst cold and/or rude. But a dog stole our hearts so we decided to commence the adoption process.A day after we had submitted the adoption paperwork, the owner called us and told us that we were not candidates because our dog had not been vaccinated for two years. I told him that our vet had said that it was fine to wait three years and I readily admitted that I may have misunderstood her. I also said that our dog had responded very poorly to the vaccine with symptoms that mirrored kidney or bladder problems (shivering, frequent urination, incontinence, nausea and lethargy), and that I thought we were compliant with the PA laws. But, I said that we could get him the shot immediately and, again, I may have misunderstood our vets instructions.Something that I said must have set him off because he started yelling at me. He said that I didnt know what I was talking about, didnt know the law, that hed been doing this for 20 years and that he was the owner; not me. (Ironically, I was a lawyer who specialized in health law and vaccinations. Now Im a medical student and my wife is a health care compliance officer.) Whenever I tried to ask a question, he would yell youre wrong. The way he treated us was so disturbing that I cant help but wonder if hed treat someone similarly if the person looked more like him (and less like me). Because of that, I dont recommend the place.
I went there asking about volunteering, the person met me on the door was totally rude, unprofessional and didn’t show any information useful. She didn’t give any brochures, or filled any application!!! I regret my valuable time going there and met such person.Don’t waste your time or donations going that center, people are unwelcome and poorly organized.Poor animals hope they are being treated well.
We adopted our dog in November. She had a limp and they never took x-rays (turned out to be a fracture, which was easily detected...with x-rays). They told us she was about 5 years old, even though her papers from ACCT Philly say she’s a senior dog. They were negligent in getting her adequate veterinary care and they blatantly lied about her age to get her adopted. We have spent nearly $3,000 getting her the care she needs, only to find out she is at least 3-4 years older than what they told us. I tried following their instructions to update her microchip, and it just sent me to a website that sells pet insurance. I will never adopt from or donate to them again, despite all their positive reviews.
I will try to make this as short as possible, but the events make it hard to. My boyfriend and I were looking to adopt a dog. Ive had plenty of expierince with dogs and take great care of pets. This was my boyfriends first dog though, but theres a first for everything! We went there and saw an adorable 2 month old mix breed pit/boxer/staffy pup, Lulu. One of the younger male workers was great and helped us out. He cared about the animals and was really great with them! The rest of the workers were rude and just kept giving us dirty looks the whole time. I am not one to allow myself to feel uncomfortable so I ignored it.We decided to apply for Lulu, and went through the paperwork necessary. The questions on there were understandable, and I understand that they want to make sure their animals were going to a good home... however how judgemental they were about the information we put is incredible. One question asked how much we planned to spend on the dog annually... every dog has different needs! I put however much is necessary to keep her happy and healthy... apparently thats not an good answer by the looks on their female employees face... might I mention, my last dog had a tumor that my family paid $2000 to get taken out (because we would spend anything for our pets health)... the point is that no one truly knows how much the dog will need, and that money is not and object for me personally when it comes to the health and happiness of my pet. They asked for 3 references and the number of our landlord. We left after she said they would call us and call our references then get back to us... days passed and no calls to our references or landlord.I know, adopt, dont shop... but we werent going to keep hope after our experience. We winded up buying a beautiful 8 week old pit pup from a guy trying to sell the pups his adult dog had instead. Our pup is happy, healthy, and beyond well taken care of and loves her home! I feel bad about not adopting, but our experience really shied us away. Its really sad that their practices are preventing their animals from finding great homes. Dont get me wrong, their facility is clean and what not, but the goal is to get the pups out of the facility, not keep them in. On top of that, adoption should be a fun process, not an uncomfortable one.Just a side note: I did see the reviews saying that they are racist, I believe it!
This place is the worst ever. The owner is rude and racist...my family and I came out of that place traumatized. The owner and the lady that volunteer came up with a nonsense excuse for us not to take a dog home. They really should investigate the owner (ray) I think is his name. He treats people worst than animals can even imagine how he actually treats the animals. If anyone knows how to go about reporting this person whos an embarrassment to Philadelphia and the animals PLEASE please do so...
Honestly, I cant for the life of me understand how Ray is still there. Ive been reading the reviews and couldnt agree more. He has absolutely no business working with the public. Furthermore, I find it unfathomable that he actually cares about those animals. Someone needs to retire Ray and his God complex...
Went in and saw Flash the lil puppy I was going to adopt. Asked the pretty girl with the green hair if the puppers was available because the other two in the litter was already taken. The girl said shes available for adoption. My mom filled the papers out and then the old man(Ray) who was there was rude and disrespectful saying that we cant adopt because my mother doesnt speak clear english! He told us to come back when she learns english. Very rude. Never going back again. Green haired girl was very nice though. Old man Ray shouldnt even be working there at all. Too bad hes the owner.
They are racist....the white lady took 1 look at me didnt talk to me or anything and said i dont feel comfortable adopting any dog to you....But 10 mins after leaving i went to the SPCA.... They was very nice even the white ppl...i found me a 23lb beagle fully heathly only 1 years old...and he is a sweetheart....Im happy her racist ass said no to me cuz then i wouldnt of found my baby Toby...lol....But they need to fire her because that tells me its a lot of dogs still there because shes turning black people down... and thats not cool....because if you come do an update on Toby I have his shot papers...I have big bags of food for him... I have clothes for him...& I have toys for him... I treat my dog Toby is if he is my child and I have no kids.... and I would of did the same for the dog I was trying to buy that day... but she would never know that because she turned me down based off of the color of my skin... I had $400 on me that day.... my money is just as green as all the other white people in America.....her name... Alex Rutkovitz...Its funny she was veey nice to me over the phone even sent me an email of all the small dogs they had....but once i got there and she realized i was a black girl... everything changed the way she talk to me changed her body language her demeanor even her facial expression was bald up is if I discussed her.....
The waitresses are of poor quality, the chef voted in the kitchen because it is rich but, they do not serve the client well and that is the most important thing in any place and they ask that the tip be $ 11 up, they will say cheap but the truth They do not deserve more than 5 dollars and look I am one of those who leave 10 up because I know they live on that, but they have to wait if they want to receive a good tip because I was a 5 star waitress and 20 dollars up were my tips

2022-07-23We took in a foster pup when they had an urgent need and honestly finding this little pup her forever home was quite the rewarding experience. The folks supplied us with pee pads, a crate, leash/harness/collar, dewormers, to heartworm/flea and tick preventatives etc. Highly recommend these awesome folks

2022-01-04Absolutely adore this organization. They do great work and clearly communicate their mission to the public. Well most likely get our next pet from them! We went to donate blankets, towels, toys, and food today — and the person receiving the items was so cheery that I nearly teared up! (And I dont like cheery!) Thank you people of Saved Me Rescue!!

2020-02-03The adoption process was friendly, efficient and smoothe. I happened upon the best dog for my 3 cat family. She is affectionate, curious and friendly. The adoption fee is pricy for dogs but considering the boarding and medical care for the animals its understandable and worth it. Especially, for rescues.

2021-05-06Unprofessional and unreliable in how they work with Foster parents. And, when they and/or their Vet partner made a mistake, they take it out on the dog by throwing this precious girl back in the kennel where she was very nervous, highly stressed and withdrawn. In 5 or 6 days in a loving home, this 2 yr old rescue was thriving.Again, they and/or their vet screws up and they punish the poor dog and return it to the kennel where she was not doing well. WHY have a Foster program if you’re going to throw the dog back in the kennel vs return her to the Foster home where she was thriving!?!Bottom line, dogs learn faster than some of the people at this rescue...
