The food is great here. Has a truly authentic Korean taste. My team and I are originally from the DC area and were here to cover the DNC. Theres a well established K-town there, but no one can make food like this. We came in completely famished and left completely blown away. Needless to say this place has got my stamp of approval...whatever thats worth to you. 😉😊😋
Clyde and his crew made my aunts birthday a very memorable night! This is one of our favorite places to go to celebrate life, birthdays & graduations. The side dishes are so tasty and the entrees are even better. Clyde and his crew were on point tonight, he cooked the meat for us, kept our pitchers filled with water or hot tea, we didnt have to ask for our side dishes to be replenish, he also made the initiative to put the birthday cake in a safe cold spot during dinner, & the list goes on. Thank you for making this a wonderful surprise birthday celebration. See you soon! I recommend this restaurant for tourists and locals!
We come here about 3 times a year and it is our go to spot for K BBQ. I like that they use charcoal and the side dishes are decent. Service is accommodating if youre not shy to voice your request. We always go for the bulgogi and short ribs. Its not to the level that I would crave not going here, but for Philly, its one of the better options. I heard that there was another place in the NE that was decent as well. Including the ban chan, 2 orders will leave a party of 2 feeling full but will set you back approximately $70. Give it a try.If you found this review useful, please hit the thumbs up icon below so that I continue post more helpful reviews. Thanks!
The most delicious korean food and one of the best dining experiences i’ve ever had. staff was so friendly and helped us with our kbbq because it was our first time. went here with my partner for a birthday dinner and i was not disappointed at all. kbbq came with a variety of kimchi and side dishes. i have been craving their cucumber kimchi ever since. we left with very full bellies and smiles on our faces. will be coming back soon!
Food is soooo good! Wanted to go to a Korean restaurant for the first time, after some research we picked this one. We loved it! Food was so good and flavorful; server was really kind, helpful and took the time to answer all our questions. Will definitely visit again...soon!
Bbq is such a ripoff, ordered an order of special galbi for $48 and they only gave us 2 pieces of meat, also ordered the Japanese noodle soup with vegetables, but instead of just veggie, they also put fish cake in it which it was not specific in the menu, i dont eat seafood thats why in ordered with just vegetables and the Japanese noodle is just udon, they can just say that in the menu, very dissatisfied and everything is over price, all I can taste in the noodle soup is just salt.
Ordered two kalbi tang entrees. They were very salty. Even our waitress agreed how salty it was. She took it back and brought out two new bowls saying how the owner made it himself. it tasted like he just poured water into it and served it with the same beef from the first bowl. The short ribs were like rubber as they were just over cooked and inedible. You’re charging $20 a bowl and I was served bowls of overcooked beef with watered down broth. I expected more and I really wanted to like this place. What a huge letdown.
We used to go there a lot when we live close by. Back then the food and the service was great. The manager and servers was kind and careing. The portion of food was more and they would give you lot of side dishes, but now the manager and servers are rude. They cut the portion of their food, also the side dishes as well.We asked the manager if they can clean the grill a bit because we see grease on the top and the side of the grill. She got mad and told us their grill is clean, they clean it everyday. We was shocked but we stayed calm. My wife cleaned the grilled her self. There was a lot of grease that came off the grill. The manager and servers saw it but didnt do or say anything. They just look mad and upset with us. They brought out our orders and left. They was rude to us the whole time we was there. The servers goes to take care of other customers but not us. They didnt asked us if we needed some more waters or anything. We didnt feel welcome so we ate our dinner as quickly as possible and ask for our bill.We paid and left the restaurant. We are not coming back any more.
Great Korean bbq. Theyll put in hot coals in the middle of the table to grill on the table and they have vents that redirect all the smoke. I go here once a month for lunch with my parents and we always have the same waitress that takes care of us. Food has always been high quality and I recommend it for a nice night out.
First time at a traditional Korean restaurant and it was pretty decent. I enjoyed what I ordered, bulgogi lunch box and jajangmyeon (crazy serving), and the amount of banchans you get are really good. Sadly the sushi order was poorly executed and just all around bad, wouldnt recommend.
I was here a few years ago and it was great experience. But I went back on 09/04/2021 and let me tell you I was very disappointed. The frustration was with all the wait and the attitude of the waiter.Upon arrival the waiter give us such a bad attitude that we consider just walk out. This was due to our party size of 8 people (4 adult 4 children). Understand our party size was big we sit and wait for 15 minutes. Until the lady (not sure if she the manager or not) come out and we asked her how long the wait. We got sit after that. But then they forgot about us. We wait another 15 minutes before talking to the lady to have a waiter come and get our order and his attitude was terrible to said the least. We order japchae, bulgogi and Kalbi combo BBQ, beef fried rice, seafood pancake, tteokboki, chicken and salmon teriyaki. The food was so-so and did not worth all the wait. After finished we wait another 15-20 minutes to see if a waiter come by and he no where to be seen. I come out to the front and talked to the same lady who help seat us. Finally got our bill paid and left. Are we coming back? Probably not. Will it matters to the restaurant if we do or not. Definitely NO.Just FYI if you travel in a big party make reservations before you come.
My favorite place for Korean BBQ is Kims, which unfortunately, did not survibe COVID. We tried Seorabol tonight instead. The food was good, not great. The service was terrible. I can only assume it was because we were the only white people in the restaurant. We waited 30 minutes before anyone even approached us. We had to ask for plates for our food 4 times. No one ever even checked on us to ensure everything was in order. We will not be back.
It’s such a shame to leave bad review for this restaurant as the foods are great and have been staying consistently over the years, but the services here are just horrible. We had been loyal customers at this restaurant for more than 10 years, the services have been gone down hill a lot. This is the last time we come here for dinner. The two ladies there just ignored us the whole time we were there, didn’t even check up on us to see if we needed anything else. We tried to get their attention at the end of our meal to pay but no one even came to our table. We had to come to them to ask for the check cuz we were waiting for 15 mns. The foods are good, but not worth to feel frustrated the whole time here. We will be going to other Korean BBQ restaurants in town.
This is an amazing comfy place up in the NE Olney area of Philly. Its definitely in a shady area, but dont let that deter you - the food is actually really great and you wont be paying center-city prices. The waitstaff and kitchen are Korean and youll see a lot of Korean families eating here as well... always a good sign. However, be prepared for a bit of communication struggle... but still, its worth it.
Honestly, being such a foodie and a NYer, I’m super picky with my food, especially my native, KOREAN FOOD!! So this place is pretty bomb in price for its portion sizes and taste! I absolutely love their YUKKAEJANG!!! I just got off the 📞 to order one to go after a long shift! Im so pumped 🙏🏼🔥😆
This was my first time ordering from them and I was not disappointed! I got delivery but the food was still super hot and so, so delicious! I need the recipe for their tonkatsu sauce- its soo good! My favorites were the rice cake soup, fresh kimchi, and stir fried seafood.
We went here with a Korean friend who knew the food and what to order. It was fantastic. I like spicy foods, my wife does not, so we ordered an assortment of side dishes to go with the beef that was cooked by our server at the table. We also had an assortment of other dishes - an incredible egg souffle, a beef tartar-like dish and a delicious soup. If you enjoy Korean food, or are looking for something new to try, this place is worth visiting.
This place is amazing! The food was absolutely delicious, and OMG, they served us so many free appetizers before hand that we had plenty of food left over to take home. This is my favorite restaurant of all time! And the cherry on the cake was just how inexpensive our bill was. ($28.00 for 2 dinners and that included tax and tip!) Great value for the excellent food and service we received.
They told us about their happy hours when we arrived at past 10pm that Friday. They gave us lots of water plus hot barley tea. I picked up 2 plates of chicken plus a small dumpling place. Everything is good. I had the spiciest chicken meal there, which I thankfully finished. I also had their General Chos chicken, which to my mind is the best version of this popular meal. Service was excellent!
AREA DESCRIPTION: Well-known KBBQ place, a seafood and pizza shop, a party hall, and a laundromat. 18000 SQFT, with about 75 parking spaces (smaller now because of outdoor dining addition). SEPTA R8 is in 10 minute walking distance (0.5 mile) and NJ transit at 30th street is 18 minute drive (8 miles) away. Philadelphia International Airport is 32 minute drive (19.0 miles) awaySeorabol Korean BBQ Restaurant, Bravo Pizza. Tres Fuegos and L & J Laundromat with 46 washers and 41 dryers.UPDATE: Nov 2021Brought friends here (party if 10). Since I havent been here in awhile looks like new COVID rules are getting in the way of larger parties. They set you up for cooking KBBQ but barely stop back in for anything (even if you buzz the buzzer). So no stove pit surface changes unless you ask (thats if they actually show up). Nothing for our tables were re-done by them (sides, lettuce wraps and drinks). We had to keep asking different people as we walked out to find them. They used to let you bring the bones home, they still do but will not let you do it AFTER you get it raw at your table. I understand why but we didnt know about the change so we had to negotiate them to please cook it for taking home and said we never really touched it. But it DOES make sense why you dont want the customer to have it and then bring it back into the kitchen. They really should say something about it when they serve or just before they put the plate down. The food was great for the majority of us but one person didnt feel it was tender enough. So your milage may vary.UPDATE: I think the biggest review problem recently is the misunderstanding that because of COVID-19 the staff has changed. The new staff are not as efficient as the previous years. I saw what looked to be a manager yell at our help, both times weve been here since they fully opened up (other one wasnt our waitress). Its definitely not like I felt that the staff was intentionally mean or refusing to serve our party both times. Personally the food has changed but again what people who are doing the review dont understand or care to understand is that high end restaurants have to pay more now (for the same products) after COVID-19. A few places Ive been having obsoletely said they raised prices or had to shrink portions because of the distributors they are dealing with are having issues too. Dont assume the worse here. I really do think they try. I dont think they have any intentions of alienating their own customer base. That wouldnt be a good business practice, we all know this. I do however hope they charge some of the rules they have like with BYOB (bottle charge, but its kinda normal). Looking forward to going here again.Classic Korean BBQ restaurant, However they do a great job cooking it. It can get a tad expensive depending on what you get. My family is looking forward to coming here again
This is a gem. Please do not mistake this restaurant as bad because of the surrounding area. I was a little surprised by the chosen location myself. The food is so good and brings a lot of comfort to my heart after moving back to the US, after living in S. Korea for 5 years. I miss Korea, especially the food. True Korean food takes time and a lot of effort especially with exceptionally aged or fermented ingredients. I would recommend this place to anyone. Check out their website we got a free coupon for a seafood pancake! Even our two year old daughter loved it! Staff is kind and considerate and truly try to make sure you have a great experience. In any culture having English as your second language is never easy. Be patient and loving to the staff because they are amazing!
Stopped by this restaurant after landing at PHI as it is open late. Unfortunately they do not let you sit at an open grill unless you order two grill items. I would understand, if they were very busy but arriving at 9pm on a Tuesday, they were not. I was seated at a non grill table and they cooked my meat in the back. It just was not the experience I was looking for. The food was good and there were a few side dishes offered I had not had before. The radish fish stew side was very tasty. The establishment has a whole in the wall vibe which I do enjoy but it was a bit unkept. Best to not use the restroom where the decorations are caked in dust and there is a small hole in the drywall. it could use a deep cleaning along with the rest of the place.
Have been coming to this restaurant for the last 6 years. I typically order the cold noodles. My girlfriend, who always orders the soon dubu, says that so far, of all of the Korean restaurants that she has been to, the food here is closest to food in Korea. Friendly staff and delicious sides to top it off.Update 8/24: Down-rating 5-stars to 3-stars. New staff has been a downgrade; not very attentive (restaurant was not busy in both of my recent visits) and somewhat rude. I was thinking about only removing 1-star since the food is good, but my last 2 experiences have been so subpar that I will not be dining back anytime soon.
This was my first experience at a Korean BBQ restaurant. Ive had it at my friends places before and made some myself, but this restaurants marinade is top notch and tasty. Not only did they come out at the perfect time with a new grill plate, but the waiters/waitresses checked up on us a perfect amount. The atmosphere is great for conversation and I would definitely come again if Im in the area.
The food is really good. The service is only okay, itll take a few times of asking to get what you want. On my last visit the waitress tried really hard to kick us out before closing. Not too sure why when there were still a bunch of people still eating in the main area. In the end, our party left at closing time (10:59pm) which I didnt see as an issue compared to the others who stayed later.
The food was 5 star. Giving it 3 star because the service was not good. We were seated immediately. Five minutes later the server wanted to take our order which was way too soon since it was our first visit and theres a lot on the menu. We never saw the server again and 20 minutes later a woman who worked there answered our questions and took our order. My husbands food arrived but mine didnt so I had to ask for it again. The food was delicious, authentic Korean. Now its time to pay and leave and it took 15 mins to find someone to give us the check. My husband decided to pay with cash to avoid having to wait forever for a credit card transaction. Do you believe there was no one to take the cash? Its true. We left cash and tip on the table and left the restaurant. Id go back again but not sure my husband will. I believe in second chances and the food was worth it. They really need to improve their service though.
Authentic Korean food that is cooked well and served relatively quickly. They are one of the few places that still use charcoal at the table grill instead of infrared or electric heat. Not the cheapest meal but the quality is high and there are a ton of bonchon (side dishes) no matter what you order. Decor is traditional and the staff is attentive. I never feel rushed and always enjoy my meals there. As a side note, I have been coming here for over 20 years and my family has rented the private rooms for parties and birthdays.
Came here today and everyone orders there meals I try and order the thin peices of beef just for them to tell me they are out.... the place isnt even half filled. Very unprofessional. Ill never come back because of there horrible communication and being out of the most ordered items. Thats like me going to a steakhouse and the staff says sorry we have no steak. Terrible experience
Amazing food! The place is an amazing place and the prices of the food are reasonable. We didnt get to try the Korean BBQ but it smelled and looked great. We had a few dishes and we were very happy with it. The portions of food are huge and pretty big. This place is just as good as advertised!
Food is good. The barbecue is a bit overpriced for the portion served. The grill is ideal for 2 to 4 people per table. We had six people and only those who sat in the middle could reach the grill. Also the grill wasnt hot enough. The waitress was ok. She didnt check back on us so we had to constantly ask for stuff. We had to ask even for rice and drink.
Dont have too much experiences with kbbq but i think the meat was pretty plain. I did enjoy the little dishes that came although the meat needs work. It was also a bit overcooked, the lady cooking seemed to have forgotten about us and we ended up taking the meat off ourselves
A bit pricey but everything was DELICIOUS! Worth the price. Best Jap Chae Ive had. Other dishes were equally delicious. My daughter, who is a fussy eater, had the Beef Fried Rice and loved every bite of it. Best fried rice shes ever eaten. This was our first time and we cannot wait to go again!
This place has amazing food. It was delicious. However, the past reviews of poor service were too true. They did not come over to check on us. We hit the call button several times. The bus boy was amazing though. Helped us out with what we needed. When we rang for the service it seemed like they sent him over. We made sure to give him a great tip.
Wonderful experience, been here twice and recommended it to others. My first experience with Korean BBQ was here, our server was very patient and helpful. Traditional service was observed and that is a wonderful feeling, present to Korean culture but certainly not American.Intend to bring people here more often!
Wonderful place! Walked in and immediately admired their attempt to keep a less modern theme of the restaurant, a more nature theme than modern. The staff was nice as expected. The pottery may seem insignificant, but, its one of the few things that really caught my attention. Both the plates and cups felt smooth on the finger tips and the color wasnt bad for the eyes. Due to the thickness of the cup, it was much easier to hold your delicious hot tea than waiting a bit longer to hold and warm your hands. The main dishes are always good and it was amazing to discover that the small, delicious side dishes they initially provide you had unlimited refills!
The sushi is really good. I had the California roll and American dream roll. theyre not at too bad of a price either tbh. I wish the portions were a little larger because at other sushi places I get a little more than what they give me but I was satisfied with the food!
The food was amazingly delicious, the staff was attentive and friendly. I went with my husband and a group of friends and it was our first time. I enjoyed it, the atmosphere was very amiable and overall a great experience. It was a little pricy but not so bad when it is split with a group of people. 10/10 will definitely be a repeat customer!
Been going here since the 80s when I lived there. Current management is doing a great job incorporating sushi which is top notch especially when they have one day market fishes that are not standard fare like uni and giant surf clam. Full gamut of traditional stews all home style and Korean BBQ. Something for everyone.
Brian was my server. I will be back. He was HILARIOUS and super knowledgeable about everything my family and I ordered. The food was great, although the soy bean paste was a little on the salty side. (We had the BBQ) All in all I had a great experience here. Brian knew my name and because it was my birthday he even brought me their rainbow roll(sushi). He also knew my uncles name(But this is a bad thing. He was acting immature and I hated it.). But on a good note, I WILL return.
1st time at a Korean restaurant. Was a bit disconcerted when the server asked me to flick the switch on the wall, and then he pulled the cover from the well in the center of the table. In goes the pot of glowing coals, and the grill plate on top of that! Very cool... or warm! The meats are cut up onto the grill and you can add what you like: mushrooms, onions, garlic, etc. Small plates of potatoes, noodles, gimchi, and other yummies are brought out, family style. The server turns the meat until its cooked to your liking, and then its plated.Lots of fun, delicious food, cooked and served in (to me) a unique way. Definitely going back!
Really great tasty and authentic korean food. If you do go (i highly recommend you do) remember the dishes that are marked are spicy are really spicy! But do not worry they they serve it with small dishes of side dishes to help you cool off. The items are cabbage kimche, cucumber kimche, stir fried broccoli and green bean. They were all delicious. As an entree as had the spicy stir fried squid it was excellent. The barbeque chicken was also excellent. Everything was great.
Very good, but not amazing. Ive had better seafood pancakes and banchan elsewhere in the area and the barbecue was good, but also not amazing. Our server also only half-cooked our bulgogi and didnt make it clear whether she was returning, ultimately leaving us to finish cooking ourselves. I throughly enjoyed cooking at the table myself and I know that food rarely comes with an instruction manual, but good communication is important in any relationship.
Great food and service as always. My battery wouldnt start on my car and not only server seen, he called the manager and owner to help. They all tried for over an hour and even gave us complimentary drinks while we waited for roadside assistance. Cant ask for a better caring set of people.
The food here is DELICIOUS.My only complaint is that we placed our order (through Door Dash) around noon for pickup at 4:00pm. When I arrived at the restaurant at 3:45pm, the hostess said something along the lines of, Oh! Youre finally here!.The restaurant made our food at noon when we placed the order instead of preparing it just before 4:00pm as they shouldve. So our food sat around for almost 4 hours and they never called or anything...?But as I said, the food was still DELICIOUS even though it had been sitting around for hours.I would definitely order from here again but maybe not place an order in advance.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:Staff, as always, is incredibly friendly and attentive to your needs. If youre ever stuck without being able to find a waitress or waiter, simply press the bell at the end of the table to notify them.ATMOSPHERE:Traditional Korean restaurant, not a modern decor, but reminds me of what Korean restaurants were like back in the day. I enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere though and wouldnt change a thing about the design! My only suggestion would be the restroom could use a bit of renovation, its a bit dated and could benefit from some freshening up with new tiles and lighting.VALUE:Compared to other Korean restaurants in the Philly area, Seorabol is probably priced on the higher end. Its certainly not the cheapest, but for the degree of execution on the food, I believe its worth it. Its definitely not priced like a place youd go for every meal of the day, but you certainly do receive what you pay for! As examples, galbi tang (short rib soup/stew) is about $16-18 and a serving of bbq galbi for two people would be about $35.EATS:Delicious! I know they dont specialize in soon dubu, but man...their soon dubu (tofu stew) is on point! Theyre haemul pajeong (Korean seafood pancake) is made perfectly with a crispy outer coating with a chewy interior. Their meats also taste fresh and is a must to try, go for the galbi (Korean short ribs), you wont be disappointed.OVERALL:Highly recommend trying this place out if you havent been yet! Im not a frequent customer, but I certainly look forward to it each time I visit!
For starters my favorite food belongs to the Korean culture when I went with my family we ate absolutely everything it is not like those all you can eat buffet when we dont eat all of what we got. Secondly my sisters dont really much eat a lot but when we went here that came out full ate so much we would rather go there instead of a buffet
The food was a bit above average so it got a 1 rather than a 0.The restaurant was about 1/3 full at its peak, we ordered and waited 40 minutes before we started asking the waiter. He explained that the 6 person table had ordered special food. Twenty five minutes later came our main course but not the appetizers. They came about 20 minutes into the meal.I voiced my displeasure with the owner (manager). He made no adjustments nor did he send overs courtesy desert.Unhappy
People seem to really like this place, but I would advise going with someone who knows Korean food in and out. The options that I chose did not put well with each other, and I was left with a bland meal. Not saying that their other options are bad, just saying I would like some assistance with ordering next time. I cannot recommend the seafood pancake, but the side dishes are a nice touch. Their dumpling soup is nothing to rave about. Id say seorabol is worth a another shot.
Average prices for a Korean restaurant. Was undeniably the worst Korean meal we have ever had. Side dishes were all bland. The appitizer showed up 2 min. before the meal and the pancake was tasteless. Had the kimchi and pork, no flavor or spice. Wife had the monk soup and was equally disappointed. We took NO leftovers home, that is how bad it was. Service was medioce at best. Save your money, many other Korean restaurants in Philly. Saw a non-Korean in a white coat come out of the kitchen, maybe that explains the awful meal.
After reading reviews i thought my girlfriend and i might get lackluster service being white folks... turns out service was great, and the food was great too. Glad we made the journey from fishtown. Great Korean food and fairly close. Looking forward to going back and getting my bbq on! Recommended!
I went to Seorabol last night. During a Nor easter my friend and I used Uber Eats to try and find an open restaurant since google maps didnt accurately show the open restaurants. We found Seorabol....one of the best experiences of my life! Chris the Head Chef had sent all the servers home and was serving with the help of his Sushi Chef and one Server he gave me and my friend one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. Outgoing, charismatic, well spoken, funny, and someone who should be working in the front of the house and not in the kitchen. To top it off we had pork belly cooked for us at the table with 10 other side dishes to compliment the pork. So many flavors and so many memories the food and experience is amazing! I feel so lucky to have found this hidden gem in Philly. If you have the chance please go hangout with Chris and his incredible staff. This is coming from a guy who doesnt write reviews but this was a once in a life time experience. Smiles and memories. Thanks to Chris and the staff of Seorabol. 5 out of 5
My boyfriend and I went here for dinner on our 3 yr anniversary. We like trying new places to eat and different genres. This was our first time eating Korean BBQ and the wait staff was friendly and patient with us. They took the time to explain the dishes and make great suggestions for us first timers. The food was excellent. We tried the bibimbap (dobsot) and galbi gui bbq. Both dishes tasted fantastic and we will definitely be back.
Best kbbq I have had in the philly area. Its def $$ and not all you can eat but the staff is really nice and fast. Also im convinced their strat is Here from the chef on us for you to try to get higher tips...but I dont mind because the service / food is good enough to deserve it anyways.
Best Korean restaurant on the east coast. Ive tasted almost every meal and wow, a true Korean restaurant that is truly authentic. Youll find me here twice a week. Service is excellent and quick. Thank you SeoRaBol for existing and thank you Sang and the crew for always treating me like family.
Seorabol was really delicious and different. They serve complimentary hot green tea, banchan (small plates), after-meal cinnamon tea, and the service was really friendly and helpful. The food was pretty delicious – I’ve had Korean food many times but always at the same restaurant. It was nice to try another style and flavor. We had duk boki, dolsot bibimbap, and Cham soju. Forgive the misspellings. I recommend trying Seorabol with friends and getting the Koran bbq, we didn’t try it, but everyone around us seemed to be getting it. Next time, thanks!
Lovin this place. I go exclusively here for my korean bbq. Other korean bbq places usually have service that is sub par, to the point where some will ignore you. The service here is excellent and the bbq is well seasoned. The seafood pancake is one of the best to eat as well. Will be back again and again.
Some of the best Korean barbecue Ive had. In my opinion better than many places in LA or NYC. Seorabol uses charcoal grills to give their BBQ a distinct, delicious taste. Each meal is served with plenty of fresh, unique banchan. Their seafood pancake is perfectly crispy and generous with the seafood. Seorabol also offers coupons for seafood pancakes if you sign up for their email subscription. Although it is not located in the nicest area, do not overlook Seorabol. With delicious food and large portions at very reasonable prices, Seorabol should not be missed.
We came here for Korean bbq and had the house marinated kalbi plus samkeopsal. Meat was good, not LA amazing but better than some places I have been in Flushing NY. Banchan was also on point however nothing ground breaking either. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The place itself needs a remodeling as there are no exhaust fans hanging directly over the grills, so every patron will leave with the grill smell lingering. The interior design also leaves something to be desired. Also the facilities like the restrooms are dingy and grimy so do not wear your Sunday best here!
I had the Dolsot Bimbimbap. The food was alright. Ive had actual Korean food in Korea before so in comparison the dishes here were missing something. They did have the Korean side dishes here. But they seem a bit americanized. Overall I might come back and try their other dishes.
I went there which is 2 hrs drive thinking 🤔 they good. But disappointed. If u want to use a grill for grilling food 🥘 you need to order 2 order which is around $21 each. So for two people is to much food so I ask them for 1 grill pork item they say they will do it inside and the food was terrible when they bring it. don’t even try it. It’s not worth it I spend my $50 for nothingSo my suggestion for them is if they want to grill inside and bring it for customer. It should be grill not fried with bunch of oil in it .....
I live right across the street from here. Been curious for a while. When my mom came to visit we decided to try it. We got two different bbq and a sushi boat. That thing cost almost 60 bucks and we had only three types of fish. Mostly salmon 3 diff ways. And they just dropped the food off and left us. We had no idea when we were doing with the meat and the bbq. I guess you have to be asian to get good service. They could obviously see that we were struggling. And like i said i live close and could have been a loyal customer but they lost out.
A lots of changes I don’t like feel like I’m getting for what I’m paying for anymore. Use to go to this restaurant very so often for over 10 years but I don’t think I’ll be returning. They’re so cheap with their side dishes and prices went up and theirs staff needed some training the host is an English speaker but could be a bit less ignorant. The restaurant is attracting new customers but an old loyal customer like me will not come backs the food is not the same as before.
Here you can- Dine with friends or family, small groups or large groups at the traditional Korean BBQ table cookers. Family friendly, traditional, and accommodates large groups pretty well, yet not ideal for solo eaters.Located in Olney, in a mini strip mall with plenty of free parking in the parking lot! Its definitely a traditional Korean BBQ Table restaurant with heavy family vibes. Korean channels playing on all the TV screens gives it a sports like vibe in a family setting. Note- If youre not Korean, you may be one of the only non Korean or non Asian there. So I guess its traditional. My ratings are based on a scale of 1 to 5 stars. With 1 being tragic and 5 Ouuww Terrific!Overall ratings- 4 stars ( making space more comfortable for a solo dinner would make it 5 star. However, its still far the best Korean restaurant in Olney, which is chalk full of traditional Korean BBQ table restaurants, so thats huge!Food Taste ( I only get the hot pots)- 5 star! The SoonDuBu Jigae ( Korean Spicy Soft Tufu Stew) is the absolute bizzzness yeezus! Perfect for a rainy day! Oouuwwww....Food portions- 5 star. Pretty great portions for price.Customer service- 4 starAmbiance- 4 star but great for families.Cleanliness- 4.5 starDecor- 4 star . Not fancy but still functional traditional.Cool thing- you still get all the sides and condiments spread with any dine in order.Tip- They are also on ubereats. Every thing is packaged and pack beautifully for ubereats order. 5 star on that end! Alot of thought and care goes into it!
The kalbi is the best of any place around. The soondoboo (soft tofu stew) is also delicious. This place can make no food bad. Im convinced everything they make is utterly amazing. Even though it is in a not so great area, this has quickly become my favorite restaurant of all time as I come weekly to this place. I will never go to another place again and will always drive out of my way to eat here. Do yourself a favor and eat some BBQ here
Horrible horrible horrible sushi or raw fish choices. Everything else is pretty good, but the raw fish is not fresh whatsoever or was handled horribly wrong. I ordered salmon and white tuna sashimi a couple months ago and I ended up having keriorrhea poisoning. This is caused by the consumption of raw fish that is infected with escolar. I let it go and didn’t go further into it because it was unnecessary and a waste of time. However, yesterday, when my boyfriend ordered two orders of yellowtail maki roll, which consisted of another type of raw fish, yellowtail, I was poisoned a second time. This time it wasn’t keriorrhea poisoning, but ciguatera poisoning. This type of poisoning is caused by eating fish that has ciguatera poison, which is a type of toxin. It doesn’t matter if this fish is raw or cooked, the heat doesn’t get rid of it when heated. I had abdominal pain for three hours last night holding on to my stomach and also had diarrhea last night and this morning. I have a headache right now but also still some lingering stomach pains. All I’m saying is that if this is the type of food you’re selling to people, you should be careful of people’s welfare and inspect your product to make sure it is appropriate for consumption. These are dangerous times, and as of today, I no longer trust the service of this restaurant.
They trick me. i called them before to go there and try the food. i asked that they charge BBQ for each person or each dish. a lady voice told me $31/person for BBQ. and when i came there to order food. i asked the old short hair fat lady waitress and she told me the same, which is $31/person for BBQ. but when i got the check. they charge me $100 for 3 dish BBQ. and then the short hair lady came to me that only the dish $31 charge $31. not for one person. what a funny experience.
Came back here after a break & was not disappointing at all! Still my 2nd favorite restaurant in Philadelphia, the food is always fresh & delicious with huge portions & non stop banchan! The few Korean places I went to in Center City dont come close to Seorabol on any level. Cant wait to go back.
So manyyyy banchan. The only thing is that you got to order more than one order to use the grill. So make sure if it is just two people, the two of you are ready to eat this delicious meal!!! This place and dubu are the only place I know of that serves raw crabs (both places prepare it differently tho, so different flavor). I actually came across this when my friend ordered it. Ever since then....Im in love with that dish!!!
Very authentic and delicious. Some unusual menu items and diverse and unique banchan. The gochupajeon was expertly crafted and deliciously crispy. I suspect the doenjang, soy sauce and gochujang were house made. They also use chunk charcoal for thier bbq. Do not be put off by the outside. Inside you will find a magical place filled with gustatory delights!
If you want to experience the best korean food in philly, def check out Seorabol.its one of my favorite restaurants to visit, and Im always satisfied with the food and services there.they have mostly everything from sushi to korean bbq, everything on the menus delicious but my favorite is bo yang tang. try it out :)I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try out korean food.
Living outside of philadelphia, i like to keep/stay local for most parts except for when it comes to food. when im craving that geniune korean food, i dont think twice about where to go but seorabol. for first timers they have the friendliest/knowledgeable staff that can suggest according to what youre craving for that day. as youve read/heard they probably got the best side dishes in phila, nearly doubling other restaurants. sometimes i sit there and get full off the side dishes while im waiting for my food. LOLmy personal favorites at seorabol is hwe-dup-bap which is fresh sashimi with veggies that you combine with hot pepper paste and rice. i also make my wife order (hahaha i know~) ggot gae tang which is sea food soup with one whole crab chopped in pieces. freshness of the sashimi and the full seafood flavor of the soup puts instant party in my mouth. if you dont spicy/less, you can always ask the chef to make it slightly less according to your taste.to tell you the truth, koreans dont review other korean places because we always compare it to the mother land and find something wrong with the place. but when it comes to seorabol, i gladly took time out to write this review not only because its my favorite korean spot, but its a place that every NON-koreans MUST try so they can fairly say that youve actually had genuine korean food.oh btw, if youre like myself and love to have a drink or two with your meal, try SOJU. its a traditional korean alcoholic beverage that has a kick to it. its a must try with korean BBQ.
Seorbal is a nice authentic Korean restaurant tucked away in an unassuming strip mall of North East philly with plenty of seating. There are a wide selection of Korean options available including the traditional favorites of galbi, bulgogi, and stone pot bibim bap. For those feeling more adventurous, there are many more traditional and less common offerings. They also have a sushi bar and some Japanese dishes such as tempura and lunch box specials. The specials just are not available on Sundays or holidays.

2022-01-13Came here on a Thursday, parking lot was empty and we were the only ones that were eating in. Service was quick. Plenty of parking in the lot.Stone pot bibimbap: Just the way I wanted it to be and authentic.Fried Dumplings: Im really glad this is not frozen dumplings, this is their own recipe from what I can tell. Definitely satisfied my cravings. I like the wrap and filling was good. The sauce was really good too. We dipped several things in this.Jjajang myeon: Authentic just the way I wanted it.Japchae: The noodles had so much flavor. Only downside is there was barely any meat. This wouldve been amazing if it did.I Would come here again and have been for years. Total was $70 food including a ginger ale.

2022-02-27It was pretty good. We ordered 갈낙전골. There was a lot of meat and seafood in there. It was not as spicy as I would have liked but otherwise quantity and quality were decent. Not mind blowing but meets average Korean dining minimum.

2021-12-01I love this place everytime I go. Ive gone here a few times now since 2015 or 16 and they are consistently awesome. The service was great, and the Banchan was tasty. I was surprised to receive an amazing piece of mackerel stewed in some amazing flavors as one banchan dish. That alone was fantastic. I ordered the ojingo Bokum, which is squid in a spicy sauce. It was really good along with some great rice and banchan. For $15 its enough food to feed 2 people. Very worth it. Highly recommend this place. Cant say enough good things

2021-09-04A good Korean restaurant in Philly! I went with my family(6 people), and the staffs were so friendly and supportive! We ordered both bbq dishes and some sushi! For bbq, a nice lady helped us to grill us so that we could enjoy eating and talking! The food was good, delicious, and had a lot of variety!

2022-05-31Visited there twice for the business trip.Main dishes are Korean food including BBQ and sushi. The price of a boat sashimi was around $100, quality was medium and quantity was a little bit small(around for two persons)Comparing to the other restaurants in big cities, interior and food quality are low.

2021-11-22Over rated and over priced. They have been gradually declining over a year now. The quality of food has been compromised since a year ago and yet their price have been hiked dramatically. Not a good combination is it? I don’t wanna see Rib BBQ with Cold Noodle Combo which priced $40, served with frying pan cooked ribs. Geez I can do this at home myself. If I’m gonna order BBQ at a korean BBQ place I expect them to cook it with charcoal or at least in an open flame. How was the meat? Too chewy and way too salty. The Cold Noodle has minimal topping and everything they served today was minimal and for $90 it wasn’t worth it.What they need is a good competition around here to shape up and improve the quality and for fare pricing.
