Thai Orchid in other cities:
Visiting my son in Blue Bell. Looked up their menu online, read the reviews, went here for lunch at 2:30. Walked in and told they are closed from 230 till 330. Wasted our time driving here and planning what we were getting just to be told they are closed. Should’ve been noted on their website or somewhere. Very disappointed. Won’t be back.
We ordered Thai Dumplings, Lemongrass Soup, Veggie Rolls, Pad Thai and Thai Basil Fried rice under lunch menu. Food was very good and tasty. Dumplings are specially I recommend. Price is reasonable and definitely one the best Thai restaurants in the neighborhood. I was expecting Hot Oil (Pepper Oil) but they only had sriracha.
A lovely restaurant! We get takeout from here and the customer service is excellent, very friendly and fast. We got the veggie lover and the pineapple fried rice. Veggie lover was the star of the show! Can’t wait to go back. Beautiful decor inside too with a relaxing atmosphere.
Delightful strip-mall located Thai restaurant. Beautiful ambiance - from the star folded napkins to the soft music to the wall art to the guilded statuary. Definitely a great find. The food was among the best Ive had and I really enjoy Thai food!Well be back when were in the area again.
Good Ambience, small but beautiful Thai traditional decoration, Delicious food, Great Service, lot of pure vegetarian option, no egg, fish or meat, still delicious. Vegetarian Mussaman Curry, Heavenly Curry, Vegetarian Drunken Noodle, Vegetarian Fried Rice, Veggies Combo of crispy veggie rolls and dumpling. Like these all. Only one dislike is Thai iced tea, they have it perfect, but Im not used to that kind of tea, so i had ginger ale soda. All food we party of five enjoyed very satisfying lunch under $ 100. Very reasonable prices too.Would love to go again and recommend my Vegetarian friends and families.
Thai Orchid in Blue Bell has been one of my familys absolutely favorite restaurants for years! The restaurant itself is gorgeous, the food is delicious, and the owner, Ai, is wonderful! Our favorite dishes are the chicken lemongrass soup, chicken satay with peanut sauce, the vegetarian buddha dumplings, the evil jungle princess dish, the mango ice cream, and the fried banana dessert. Every single time we bring friends to Thai Orchid, they love it and are just as impressed as we are. This has been our go-to place for many celebrations (birthdays, holidays, my sisters baby shower, and more!) and we will continue coming back!! Highly recommend!!
If you get anything from here, make sure its at least these 2 things: Thai fortune bags (appetizer) with plum dipping sauce and pineapple fried rice with chicken (entree). They are both absolutely amazing. The pineapple fried rice meal is better than any others Ive had around the area due to the heavy smoke flavor which gives the food a wonderful rich taste where other places tend to be bland or too sweet. The portions are also a very hearty size with enough to save for another day.For dessert, Id recommend the mango & sticky rice (if in season) as it has a sweetness and creaminess that you wont find in non-Thai dishes.Prices are very reasonable, service is typically spot on, and its BYOB. What more could you want?
Been going here on and off since the last 15-16 years and last time for 3-4 years ago. we drive 25 miles and i was a bit concerned if they maintained the same taste and quality. Sure enough did not disappoint and actually exceeded. the serving crew is fantastic. The prices have gone up, and compared to some comparable restaurants prices now they are still a couple of $s higher..but the expereince and food, no complaints. Had a great evening, nostalgic taste that we craved for.
Thai Orchid is a quiet and comfortable restaurant somewhat hidden at the far corner of the Giant Market parking near the intersection of RT 202 and Township Line Rd. The food is tasty and attractively served in appropriate portions. The common Thai menu items and some specials are available. Its a good stop for a relaxing and satisfying meal.
I stopped in on a whim with my family. They were very accommodating to us as walk-ins and ensured that we were socially distanced. The food was great and the staff was friendly.Im a spicy food lover, if youre the same ask for the Thai spice, which is their unadvertised extra spice level. All in all, it was a great experience and Im already craving the curry I had there. Ill definitely be coming back here again.
This is our favorite thai place in the area so far. Weve ordered here a few times and everything weve had has always been great. Its our go-to take out place when we have friends over as well. Some of our usuals on the menu are: pad thai, chicken satay, drunken noodles, and basil fried rice. the pineapple fried rice is great as well.
AMAZING clean safe delicious affordable and wonderful variety on menu...we stopped by during this unfortunate pandemic, spent $71 for dinner for four, and the man at the front let us pay over the phone then brought our items to the car so that we could stay safe... large portions and incredible flavor. Especially grateful for the Siam noodles because I am a gluten free vegan. Thank you Thai Orchid!
The best Thai restaurant in the area hands down! My wife and I had lunch off their special 3 course lunch menu for under 30$. Could not finish it all took home at least another meal each. And it was great Thai cuisine as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
This was my 2nd or 3rd time coming to Thai Orchid. The service was a bit slow, I think it was because they might have been short staffed in the front or they just didnt want to rush us. Nonetheless, the attitude and personality of our server was excellent and I overheard our servers name (Lena or Lina I think) and she was the sweetest. I hope to see her again if I stop in. The food was very good and the ambiance was great. I would come back (:
First visit review: Zagat rated restaurants use better quality ingredients and this restaurant proved that theory correct. Taste (subjective) is up to par with the good Thai restaurants in Queens, NY. The chef seemed from Thailand which lends some authenticity and the dishes were well seasoned. Service was friendly and quick. Standouts: though a little pricey, the portion sizes are huge and very family friendly, great when kids want to try different dishes. Will go again if in the area.
My family and I have been coming here for years and I’m really disappointed. If you want to go see a beautiful restaurant with lovely table cloths and decor go ahead. But the price is not worth the food. My food was super oily and I got drunken noodles with chicken. My dad got green curry with chicken the bamboo shoots were really chewy. My mom got the special and she said it was more vegetables than noodles or chicken/shrimp. It was overall disappointing and I’m going to go elsewhere for Thai food. I called ahead on the phone and the person was nice. But when we got there the lady was pretty snooty and the service was average they only asked once if our food was good. Not worth it anymore..
Fancy vibes. Great service. Very spicy food is not that spicy. That works for me, but i have low spicy tolerance. My husband wasnt very impressed. Tutti fruity duck was soaked and overwhelmed in a very sweet raspberry sauce. I love duck, i love sweet fruity meat. And the duck was cooked deliciously, just too much inescapable sauce. I dont recommendthe tutti fruity duck. I do recommend the restaurant
Not impressed service was horrible. Took way too long And server did not check in. I made a reservation but when we got there we still had to wait because they gave my table away even though I gave them my arrival time. The food was OK but I would not return because of the service.
Yum bomb!Wasnt expecting a decent Thai place out here in suburbia, but this place proved me wrong! Its located in a plaza complex, right off of Dekalb Pike - easy to find and plenty of parking available. My guest and I walked in a little after 5PM so there wasnt any other patrons besides us (they mustve just opened for their dinner service.) The hostess greeted us right away and allowed us to choose a seat wherever we preferred since we had the place to ourselves. We chose a spot with ample natural lighting. The decor is pretty dark in there, and since the sun was still out, the indoor lighting was on dim. It didnt bother us too much, but I think if it were a cloudier day, it may have been pretty dark inside. We ordered the baked tofu and the drunken noodles to share. Being the only ones in the restaurant, it was nice not to see food come out and be disappointed that it was for a different party haha! Our food was served quick, hot, and tasty!I prefer tofu firm and well seasoned, and this place definitely served it up. The drunken noodle dish was an ample portion for two people and it had notes of spicy and sweet all in one bite.I enjoyed the experience of dining here. The waitress was attentive and filled our water glasses plenty of times as we dined. We also asked for hot sauce to accompany the peanut sauce for the tofu, and it was brought out quickly for us to enjoy. If I find myself back in this part - I would definitely venture back to try their other dishes, especially their curries!
Really great place. Customer service lacks due to high server turnover, but food is pretty consistent. Why so many Thai places are cheap with CHICKEN I do not know, but I always pay the $2.00 extra to get more. Youd think it was filet mignon in Norristown. That said, one of the best in the area - albeit very crowded on weekends. Go during the week for a much better experience. Bathrooms are tight, but that is about the only complaint.
I used to come here all the time a few years ago. Just recently stopped in. The food is still amazing (especially the Red Curry and Veggy Dumplings), but the service was horrible when compared to what I was used too. They were pretty much empty, but I had to wait 10 minutes for a high chair. They never refilled our water, never asked if we wanted anything else to drink, never cleared any plates, and I had to chase someone down just to pay the bill. Ill be back again, but maybe well do take out instead.
I love this place. I have been dining here for lunch for years. Actually I should say several of my co-workers and I have been dining here from lunch for years. Paying 11 to 12 bucks for lunch getting appetizer soup salad and an entree you cant beat that. My favorite dish granted I love all of them, you cannot go wrong with evil jungle princess or actually I should say drunken noodle, two favorites.
If you get a chance, go for lunch, they have great specials that include soup, appetizer, and entree. Ive been there Mon - Wed for dinner and I think they have something similar for those nights. Overall food quality and taste is very good. Its probably my favorite Thai place in the area. The chicken pad thai is delicious and you walk away full. Friends have raved about their curry.
I told my friends about this restaurant with my highest recommendations. I go their often. I get very good feedback from my friends. The meals are delicious and the stuff is efficient and cooperative. always when we visit this place we have a cheerful time. warmly recommended.
Tasty food. Picked up for take out and the lady was very nice, friendly and fast. Pad See Ew was very good, I’d rate it a 5. Crying tiger salad was about a 3.5/4 and the coconut soup with mushrooms was “different” tasting but all delicious !!! Try the Thai iced tea. Will be going here again !
It was good 🍛. Our friend had a nice coupon deal or something. Without it, the food was over priced & the service was slow. You can tell it is a hole in the wall place with its stereotypical setup and décor. And another- Caucasian employee... Not a good look if youre going for authentic. Personally, not my cup of tea but if youre REALLY dying for Thai food then I guess this is your place...🐒
If you want a good pad thai in this area, Thai Orchid is IT. Ive tried couple Thai restaurants around the area and by far, this place has the best. It tastes rich, not artificial, the seasoning is excellent and the noodles are cooked perfectly. I will definitely come again.
Thai Orchid is on the smaller side and in an inconspicuous location, but the service and food was great. Expect it to be relatively busy during lunch and if visiting with a party of 6 or more youll probably want to give notice by making a reservation, regardless the staff seemed more than willing to accommodate. They offer a nice lunch special which includes an appetizer and a soup or salad. The Thai Iced Tea was on-point.
There arent many options for Thai dining in the area so its fortunate that Thai Orchid is very good. The menu is on the spicy side, so youll have to generally ask if you want something to be made more mildly. Staff are pleasant and the dining area is about medium-sized but not crowded.
You really cant go wrong with any of the dishes they serve. The dinner prices are a little pricier than I would like to spend, but its completely reasonable as the quality is top notch. If youre craving authentic thai, this is the only place in the area that will satisfy.
Traditional atmosphere that puts you back in Thailand. I ate with a party for dinner and the food was awesome! I liked it enough to write this and order take-out for dinner. The entree portions are enough for 2 and can be made 1-10 spicy, 10 being Thai spicy which I would highly discourage unless you frequent this taste occasionally. I had the Evil Jungle Princess which is made from the Red Curry at spice level 7 which was perfect, fresh chili peppers in each bite. Very satisfying meal! Will be frequenting. One person in our party noted this owner has an establishment in Conshohocken as well. Both rated well on Zagat.
I ordered their special pineapple curry and my chicken was hard and dry... how! This is a curry... you kind if have to try hard to ruin the chicken this much, plus it still had some feathers! Ugh! West thai food ever.On the bright side my husbands pad thai was very good
I do not write reviews because I usually do not have time BUT this required a review. The service was fast but the food was not memorable. I had thai food before and this cannot compare. The pineapple rice had literally 5 tiny pieces of pineapple and huge chucks of veggies (didnt taste any spices). I ask for extremely spicy and they didnt make it hot (my kids ate it without complain. if it was spicy they wouldnt touch it). I also ordered pad thai and there was a few sprinkle of peanuts, again no flavor, no spice. I also ordered the massaman curry and I was also highly disappointed. I will not be going back!!! Sorry. But I must say the ambience was very nice, they just need to hire a new cook.
I bought a LivingSocial deal for Thai Orchid because I had never had Thai food before and really wanted to try it out. Thank goodness I did! The service was fantastic, the decor was traditional to Thailand which was really nice, and the cuisine was superb. My boyfriend and I loved our entrees. Unfortunately, I dont recall what we ate because it was a while back, but I know it got me hooked on Thai because now I always want to go out to a Thai restaurant. Thus far, I have yet to come across another restaurant that makes as good Thai food as Thai Orchid. We ended up staying until closing time because it was such a good atmosphere to hang out in and the servers were so patient and awesome! I highly recommend Thai Orchid!
I walked in a solid forty minutes before their listed closing time and was refused to be served dine-in. What? Honestly I would understand if I walked in ten, twenty, even thirty minutes before closing time. But refusing to serve a whole forty minutes before their listed closing time is just ridiculous.Maybe uh, don’t have your closing time be 10pm if you’re going to stop taking customers before 9:30. Looks like some people were only thinking of how they could get home early on a Friday night.
A bad experience :-(Used to dine here a LONG time ago and I always had fond memories!Tonight was not the night, my daughter and I both had Pad Thai and the chicken and tofu was hard, the noddles vinegary? I was worried to eat the food for fear of food poisoning! When I told the server she said I would have to pay for my unfinished meal! Obviously they are having financial issues, which I am not surprised about. Pass this place and go to Pho Thai Nam across the street, it was unfortunate it was a Monday and they were not open :-(

2022-05-21A wonderful little Thai restaurant in an unassuming shopping center. It has a lovely dining room. Very cozy. We enjoyed phenomenally friendly and attentive service from a nice young man working there. This was THE best Tom Kah soup I have ever enjoyed. It had a very bold taste of lime which I thought was fresh and delicious. The Pad Thai and Thai Basil dishes were also very tasty. Highly recommend!

2021-11-28Went to this place for late lunch time so there were not many people (2 table included ours). We love the decor and the utensils on the table very unique maybe more like antique 🤣.Waiter was friendly, the food was tasty. Me and my partner was happy with our visit.Hopefully when we’re in this area I would love to come back to Thai Orchid again.

2022-03-26The food was amazingly delicious! Our group of three chose to do the prix-fix option at $ 11.95 each. We had several choices in 3 categories: appetizer, soup or salad, and entree. We were all stuffed and enjoyed every bite! What a bargain! We are looking forward to returning soon.

2022-05-13It was a month n half ago, we were just out on a rare sunny day for a good walk and were hungry obviously n searched for a good restaurant near that place to find Thai Orchid on the way. Honestly we rarely like food in the restaurants and this is my first review ever. I can just say the end part of our lunch that not even a grain was left in our plates and I swear this. The best food we ever had in last few years I can say. Everything we ordered was amazing, just that its lill expensive but worth trying.

2022-05-10Ravioli soup was a nice surprise. Never had it before. House salad was plentiful. Our meals were fresh, hot and delicious. Desserts were a bit small and pricey but were very good.

2022-05-10Very cozy, laid back atmosphere, friendly wait staff. The Mussaman curry was a bit bland, but the Thai eggplant with chicken--WOW! I wanted to lick the plate clean. Would definitely go back for that dish!

2019-11-02One of Thai food lover, the taste of Thai Orchid is disappointing. This evening I went the restaurant. Three of us ordered Drunken noodle with beef, Pad Thai noodle, Basil Fires rice, Jasmin Rice soup, Ravioli soup, House salad, Thai dumplings, and coffee.First of all, all of the food didnt have Thai foods authenticity and flavor. I love Thai cuisines authentic spice and flavor, but I couldnt enjoy any of them this evening. Secondly, the presentation of the food was not attractive either. Even the temperature of the food was not right. However, its interior decorations and staffs were nice.
