Animedic has a lot of potential with a beautiful facility in a great location, which makes this review all the more disappointing. As a first time dog owner who just adopted a senior dachshund, I made an appointment to see Dr. Jennifer Jones. Dr. Jones and her staff were very welcoming and friendly. I was fortunate to have my dogs medical records from her previous owner, indicating she was due for her vaccines. The Dr. either did not read the medical records I provided or was too incompetent to notice an obvious pattern of severe allergies (every time she had been given a vaccine in the past, she had also been given a heavy dose of Benedryl). About an hour after I got my dog home, her eyes and muzzle were swollen shut and she was vomiting and wheezing. A trip to the Penn emergency center, $200, and one sleepless night later, my dog recovered. In addition to this incident, it took 3 weeks for blood work to come back from our initial visit, in which time my dog developed an infection in an impacted molar that Dr. Jones had identified during our initial visit - I assume she saw no urgency to remove the infected molar. Another trip to the Penn emergency center and another $200 later, I decided to schedule my dogs dentist appointment at Companion Pet Hospital in south Philadelphia instead of going back to Animedic. Animedic simply lacks experience and management. To the clinics credit, they did offer me a refund on the blood work because of the delay. Or was it because I told them I was going to another Dr. for the expensive dental appointment?
I cannot say enough about Animedic! My dog, Chewy, has been going here for about 5 years. She recently experienced a lot of eye complications and the staff and doctors at Animedic have been amazing! I felt myself calling sometimes 2-3 times a day and the staff are always so caring and patient with my thousands of questions. As a dog owner, you want to feel that people love them as much as you and I feel that plus some at Animedic! Chewy has had two surgeries and a procedure at Animedic and she’s been treated with so much love. They always come through on medications, even when specialists don’t have it in stock. I am truly grateful for Animedic. The doctors and staff are truly special! I’d recommended them over and over again!
Thanks to the pandemic, I haven’t actually met any of the staff at Animedic (and my husband typically takes our dog in), but over the phone and email they have been super informative and helpful! Dr. Harris never makes me feel rushed when I have questions (we adopted a senior dog with a ton of health problems so I have a lot of questions). They also squeezed us in for a same day appointment when a cyst on our dog’s leg burst and she was bleeding—I really appreciated that because I know how busy vet practices are lately (and we’d rather take her to Animedic than an ER).
Ive been working with Animedic for 3 years and have only had wonderful experiences with them. Through the pandemic they made sure my dog got the appointments and meds that she needed in a safe and distanced manner. Anytime I have a question I can call and get a vet call within a few hours. My dog has trouble with other dogs and the Animedic staff was very sensitive to that by helping us get into rooms early and avoid other dogs. Even when switching vet clinics due to a move they were helpful with sending records without me even asking. Highly recommend this professional, smart, and caring team!
I’ve been taking all 5 of our pets (3 dogs and 2 cats) here for the last 6 years or so, and have always had a top notch experience. All of the staff are very kind to my pets and I. I can trust that when I’ve had to leave my pets in their care that they are being treated how I would want them to be. From minor check ups to surgeries, they’ve been fantastic.
The vet who sees our pets seems very knowledgeable and is always kind whenever she discusses our pets care. However, I am giving this 2 star review because the front desk women who answer the phones are consistently rude. Having an unwelcoming front desk staff is not a good look.
My dog had a clear UTI - I hadnt established a vet in the area so I called in the morning around 8 and was able to be seen by 11:30 - they came out to my car and were so welcoming and friendly and seemed to genuinely love animals and care. The only thing I wish they could change (but they really cant - so its not their fault) is that there really isnt anywhere to park out front for the walk up to the car covid procedures. I guess it works for friendly, easy going animals who can park in the neighborhood and walk up - but i have a pretty vicious Pitbull and couldnt really walk her down the street without issues -- now that i think about it, thats more my fault than anyone else lol but I was so pleased with the service and the price was a hell of a lot less than I expected it to be.I had actually used them a few years ago to do a in-home euthanization of a dog and it was really affordable and convenient. i really recommend this place - i hope they can get a location in the neighborhood with some more room in the future
New pet owners- look elsewhere. This place was pleasant enough on my first visit and incredibly non-transparent about pricing after the fact. I was scammed, scammed, scammed.Myself and my partner were exhaustively repetitive with what services we did *and* did not want with our new dog, and we each confirmed 3x each what costs to expect. Lo and behold we were handed our card back with over $100 of unexpected charges. We did not consent to any of these, in fact, we specifically asked them NOT to do anything but the one service we arrived over.I keep calling them about this. I believe her name was Nicky who promised I’d get a call back from the office manager, i believe Anna. It’s been two weeks with four calls all unreturned.I am a big believer in supporting local business. This business took advantage of my status as a new client and I won’t be supporting them further.
Veterinary care is good but very pricey not good about discussing finances up front. Office staff and desk workers do not return calls or communicate with each other. 4 day wait for a sick dog visit and told to try for an online appt. that only had dates 4 weeks out.Horrible office team.
They always do an amazing job caring for my pups. One can be a little skittish, the other irregularly reactive (but has a face that cant be muzzled). Even when my anxiety is at 110%, they are able to calmly manage their physical exam with both dogs, while collecting information, and fielding a ton of questions from me. They are not only caring to the owners concerns, but also to the needs and preferences of the animals. Cannot say enough good things about Dr. Jones and the team of quality veterinarians and vet techs she has assembled.
I had a really bad experience at another vet which I won’t name, and ended up coming here to sort out the issues I was having with my cat. From the second I walked in they were so friendly! We felt very welcomed there. They were able to figure out a great treatment plan for my baby and I couldn’t be happier. Also, the prices here are very reasonable. Highly recommend these folks.
Fair warning to everyone looking to test Animedic. They are most likely profit driven and cant handle all the pets in the area so dont come here if youre looking for sincere care for your pet, they arent equipped to handle it. We recently moved to the area and were recommended Animedic however we have had nothing but disappointing experiences there so far. Perhaps we were spoiled from our previous vets who took care to learn the most basic details about our pets like their names and simple history. They also respected our time and didnt make us wait over an HOUR AND A HALF after our scheduled appointment while continuously telling us it would only be a five minute wait. The staff we talked to there apologized profusely however let us know this is a common issue theyre facing and theyve already brought it up with the owner however they havent done anything about it and continue to overbook appointments. Since its a systemic top-down issue we dont expect any improvement in this area especially when money is the driver of the issue. We highly recommend finding a vet who you can schedule regular appointments with in order for you to provide the best care for your pets.Weve relied on previous vets to save our pets lives and provide the guidance and reassurance through the most difficult times. Therefore I know how important it is to find a vet who can provide the care and time that is necessary. Animedic as it is currently setup cannot provide that consistency due to the volume of visits. I highly recommend finding a vet who can care for your pet as needed even if its a little farther away. Our pets cant let us know when something is wrong all the time, thats why its important to find an expert who can dedicate the time and effort necessary to care for our loved ones.
The doctors are always amazing with my dog who is scared of everything. I had an emergency last week during the quarantine and Dr. Jones and her staff were great. I always tell people who need a vet to go here. Thank you to Animedics staff for always having time and good info for this 1st time crazy dog mom.
We have been trying to find a good vet for a while after a bad experience with our previous vet, and Animedic had the best reviews. We heard they were a bit pricier than other local vets, so we were unsure about taking our cat there. However, that turned out to be untrue as our visit was actually cheaper than expected! That is always a big plus. I was extremely happy with our entire experience. From the time we walked in the door, we felt comfortable and relaxed. The office isnt huge, but it is beautiful, with eclectic decor, and extremely clean (our previous vets office smelled clearly of animals). We were greeted by two live-in cats, a black and white guy named Taco and the cutest tabby kitten. They also greeted our cat, which made her happy (she likes other kitties). It was her first vet visit, so she was nervous. Dr. OPella was wonderful with her. She answered all of our questions and took great care of our baby. The vet student and vet tech we met were also amazing. They taught us how to clip our girls claws, and they took the time to talk to us about our older cat who recently passed. Everyone was warm and friendly and highly competent. This put us and our cat at ease. Overall, we were impressed, and we think Animedic is where our baby girl will be getting her vet care in the future.
Animedic veterinary clinic is great. I adopted a cat a year ago and took her to this vet clinic, and I am very happy that I did. Dr. Jones recommended that my cat have some teeth removed, as they were pretty decayed and my cat was unable to eat a significant amount due to her pain. There were no complications with the surgery and my cat has been so happy since the procedure. The staff are extremely friendly and communicate very well about everything that is going on. Dr. Jones has addressed all my concerns every time that I have taken my cat here. Really glad I found this place for my cat!
I brought my dog in to this establishment to be examined after suffering a very very minor bite wound. Hoping to make sure my dog’s cut was not infected, I knew that they would need to shave the hair around the surrounding area and possibly prescribe some antibiotics.(we went as a precaution) After having my dog examined and returned to me, it was clear that something was off. Now her seemingly small wound had been severely exasperated with the use of the Vets razor. Not only did they fail to examine where my dog was actually cut, they actually furthered her injury. When we pressed the staff, they assured us this injury had occurred during the accident which is absolutely false based on the fact the incident occurred 48 hours prior the visit and we had carefully examined the surrounding area as well as bathed her, which is how we found the first wound due to its bleeding. It is absolutely clear to us that the staff was rushed, in a hurry and failed to properly restrain the dog while the checked up on her and cut her with a razor during the exams. We know this because we observed the staff mention to multiple people about “how busy” there day was. When we made them aware of our concerns and explained to them there’s no way what they were describing was possible, they flat out lied to us. I would not recommend this office to anyone unless they desire a doctor who will give your pet minimal attention and potentially harm them. Specifically doctor Jaclyn Opella
We took our new puppy here for his first vet visit. The Doctor was so great with him - he ended up falling asleep in her lap! Weve since returned to get his last round of puppy shots and plan to continue to use Animedic in the future. The staff is super friendly and its conveniently located in Manayunk with off street parking!
To be 100% honest I have dealt with many veterinarians. I am not one to leave reviews of any establishment but this place is a sham. Over priced and clearly PROFIT DRIVEN, this is by far the most unprofessional and unorganized establishment I’ve ever been to.Firstly, waited 1 hour past my appointment time in the small and confined waiting area. Was told my dog, who is a puppy, couldn’t be tested and given heartworm medication because “they didn’t have time”. They sent us on our way and didn’t even give us a reschedule date. No follow up as well. We decided to go outside of the vet to order the preventive medicine our pet needed. They denied the prescription on 2 separate occasions. When we called the staff said they had no calls or emails from the outside company. Which was a LIE, we have 2 email confirmations saying so, even the outside entity company said this was unprofessional.Staff stated they would not give the medicine until they had given him a test. Which is understandable, but if this was the case I previously paid for an appointment where this could have been taken care of. Staff was rude. When I stated that my dog needed the preventative medicine for heartworm, they responded by saying “ are you a veterinary professional?” By someone sitting at a reception desk WITH NO VET EXPERIENCE. I was even hung up on while discussing trying to ask how to get my dogs prescription approved . Said we should “go find another vet.”Honestly this is clearly an establishment that doesn’t have the best interest of your pet in mind, over charges for routine procedures and check ups, and puts their own convenience over the health of your own pet. I know this spot is in a prime location for those in the Roxborough/Manayunk area but I would highly suggest taking the ride and going else where.
Cannot say enough great things about The Animedic. They have great hours, friendly staff, a clean location, a nice parking lot, plenty of appointments available, online scheduling and rescheduling, etc. They also have an online pharmacy you can order things like heartworm, etc. medicine from! I have two dogs which go to the vet with them and each time I the dogs have been handled with great care. Ive noticed the office can often run behind schedule, but as someone who had a very sick dog who needed a surgery within the next few days, I can understand why sometimes appointments with certain pets take longer and causes the office to get a little behind. Their pricing is a bit high if you arent used to going to a city vet. However, their surgery prices are quite reasonable. I will continue to use the Animedic as long as I live in Philly!
The staff at Animedic are great! When my Aussie was limping for more than a day i knew it was time to take him somewhere to get care. The doctors at Animedic figured out he had an infected cut between his toes and gave him an effective treatment of steroid powder and antibiotics to get him well again. After two days he was happy as ever! The nurses are very warm and gave him a bunch of toys when he came in for his follow up. This is a great vet practice.
Excellent customer service with the vets and technicians! They are patient, they listen, they give you options from a financial and logistical perspective. I am so happy they are my vet!! Well educated and genuinely caring staff. Not to mention their hours! OMG THE HOURS ARE PERFECT FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE FULL TIME JOBS! And you can schedule and reschedule on line.Even the office cat is nice. Love this place!
Great neighborhood gem for your pets. we had our first visit today with our newly rescued pup. my fiancé and i were both extremely pleased with the staff and the facilities. everyone was super nice and extremely caring. and they even gave us a free goodie bag! highly recommend.
Best Veterinary experience by far!!! I have a high maintenance german Shepard mix who dosent like other dogs and cats and they always work with me on arranging quick transitions into private rooms and putting away cats and other animals that would cause a problem. The pricing is much better then the two prior vets i have been to and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I wouldnt think to send my animals anywhere else but here.
Offerred to microchip while they did spay/neuter, very cute shop, super nice. i went there as a very young adult, and they treated me with respect; sometimes places like that (inadvertently or otherwise) can be a bit condescending to young adults, but they were very kind, not patronizing, and had some young staff as well who were very welcoming. also have an emergency referral clinic, which is great.
I love this clinic! The staff is wonderful and Dr. Jen and Dr. Heller are the best; they are loving, compassionate, friendly, extremely helpful and very knowledgable. My dog kids have been coming here for years and the clinic is an amazing place of wellness for canines and all pets. So grateful that I found Animedic for the fur children I love and care for!
We had an emergency visit with one of our dogs. We think she had been stung by bee(s)The office was busy and the front desk staff quickly made some slight appointment changes to get our dog seen by the medical staff. Thank you Animedics Team for your professional management. All went well and Scamper is back home healthy and fully recovered.
Our son Bogey has been coming here for 3 years and it is the only place he knows. We love the staff here. Everyone here is awesome, right from the folks at the reception to the nurses and off course the doctors. Dr. Heller and Dr. Jones are fabulous. Always ready to answer all our questions and just super helpful.
Unfortunately we had to take 3 trips to the vet in the past month, with our 2 dogs. I have seen 3 different docs; they were all very friendly and helpful, same for the supporting staff. They assessed the seriousness well and went above and beyond to help our dogs, but also inform us as owners. I think the prices are fair to the service they provide.
They are just okay. Probably finding a new vet. Went in because my dog was having bloody poops, meanwhile her yearly check up was in a few weeks. Doctor spent 5 mins talking about the reason I was in and spent the whole time talking to me about random vaccines and tests. I finally had to stop her and say “can we deal with these when I’m here for her check up and figure out why she’s pooping blood today?”. They just seem to always be focused on something else.
First, thank you Animedic.Wonderful staff and caring doctors. Every time I have been here they see me promptly, (even without an appointment, still try to make one if you can, they can be busy.)They take time with my pup Kuma (135 pound Akita) and really work to make sure he is doing well and feeling good. They are not just a business but my neighbor. I feel very lucky to have such well educated, professional people to help me with Kumas health and well being.I trust them with my boys health, that says a lot.
My precious pooch just turned 11 years old in May. I called her vet & asked if I could make an appointment to have blood work done because I want to make sure she lives a long life. He told me that he would have to refer us to Animedic & Im so glad they did. Animedic did the blood work in house so I got the results the same day. I was so impressed by Dr. Heller, the caring staff & not to mention the decor was so cute. When we got home yesterday I have told everyone I know with pets to go there. I will continue to take my doggie there for now on. I left knowing that my baby got the greatest care.
Overall, Ive had a great experience at Animedic and the care my cat received for two years. Unfortunately, in the past few weeks its become apparent their record keeping and customer service could be greatly improved. My cat is lost and I called to get her chip number. They initially told me she was chipped but they didn’t have the number, I called back and was told she was chipped initially by someone else but they didn’t record the number, the third time they told me she was chipped by them but they didn’t record the number. I can’t put an alert on the microchip since they forgot to register it in my name. In the end they are telling me my cat isnt chipped and Im very disappointed this wasnt made clear the first time I brought her in two years ago. I will not be going back.
Weve been taking our dog here for a couple years. Dr. Jones - who graduated from U Penn - is good. However, the rest of the office, not so much. The problem is you never know wholl youll see. When Dr. Jones wasnt there one day, we saw another vet. We wanted them to check out a bump on his stomach. This vet said nothing was wrong - skin problem. Brought him in a couple months later and Dr. Jones said it needed to be removed and sent for biopsy. Turns out its level 2 (out of 3) skin cancer. Now he has a few more bumps. Hate to think if the first vet knew what he was doing we could have caught it sooner at stage 1. Dont get me started on the followup visits after surgery. Right hand doesnt know what the left is doing. Pretty sorry because its a small office. Im disappointed to say the least.
I can’t say enough about Dr. Jones. My kitty hates the car, and the whole experience of going to the vet is stressful for the both of us. When she crawled under a cabinet and wouldn’t come out, Dr Jones SAT ON THE FLOORwith my scared kitty in her lap and did the full evaluation that way. I myself am a nurse and I understand the value and importance of meeting a patient on their level. On a personal note, above perfessionalism, Dr Jones is truly a good person. She volunteers her time and has the biggest heart. This city is lucky to have her. A gem!!
I took my dog here to get that large chunk of wood out her eye. They took it out without totally screwing my pups eyeball. She had some giant eyes and I knew I wanted that eye to remain good. Unfortantely she did succumb to MRSA sepsis but I think that was related to running her over with the riding lawnmower and not the operation she got here.

2022-06-16As a new patient, my pup Sophia and I felt very comfortable and well cared for. Sophia got all of her shots, was not nervous, and even got her nails clipped. Highly recommended!

2022-03-28These guys really do a great job taking care of your animal. I bring my dog here. I only did 4 stars because they are a bit more expensive than other vets I’ve been to, and they also don’t answer the phone very often when I call. I normally have to fill out a form online and then they call me back quickly after that. I’d suggest doing the same!

2022-06-30That’s possibly the worst customer service I’ve ever seen. Tried to take my pup to do some shots. Arrive there on the dot, lady is tending to a customer. Takes about 4 min. We sit in a room for 10 min and then she says the vet won’t be able to talk to us because there’s a 10 min policy. We explained the situation, so she goes talk to the vet. We realize this exchange and sitting in the examination room took longer than it would take for the vet to come down and do few shots. It’s like the vet won’t see us simply out of spite. Red flag for me, wouldn’t trust this vet. I want to find a vet I can stick with. Left with my pup and scheduled somewhere else. Not only that they even lost the papers we submitted via email previously.

2022-07-01We won’t be back. Very rude staff, they ask you to send in your paper work by email but they lose it. We picked this place because it had online appointments and paper work as well as a parking lot to make transporting our pet easier and less stressful on the pet. Parking lot is not there anymore, so just be aware of that. Building is also very hot, i’d estimate 78 F or so, wasn’t very comfortable. Not sure how often they clean as well, was in 2 rooms and the smell wasn’t so great. Prices also high. For us a lot of reasons to pass.

2022-05-27Never going here again, had pleasant experiences in the past. But when someone calls because they just got done cleaning Diarrhea and Throw-up from their cat, the worst thing to do is be condescending about not seeing them in a while and having an out of date rabies vaccine for a 100% indoor cat. I know vets that dont take their cats to the vet unless something is wrong!!Also, maybe the reason I did not see the email about the vaccine or appointment reminder is because I get about 15 emails a month from an Animedic email account about the sitewide savings. Instead of ordering prescription food through Chewy, or another low-cost provider, I have to order through your clunky system or schedule an appointment to get you to write another prescription.

2019-08-30Could they be any friendlier? The staff, front desk and the doc are always beyond nice and very knowledgeable. My pets don’t hate going there which is a huge plus because what animal loves going to the vet. They are reasonable, price match, are automated and send me receipts via email. We freaking love this place and the information they provide. They take care of both our cat and our dog and as you can see our pets aren’t terrified to be there. Thank you so much for all you do.

2021-09-21If I could give a negative star rating I would. This is the worst veterinary experience I have ever had. Getting our first appointment for our new puppy was easy. I have absolutely no complaints on that but less than a week after he was scene a cough developed. I called to either get another appointment ASAP or to see about an over the phone prescription since he was just scene. He is only three months old. I was told that we would receive a callback with his prescription…. We never got one. I called two days after being told that and received their voicemail. I left a voicemail explaining the situation and to this moment haven’t heard from this so called vet. We ended up taking him to the emergency vet and spending a lot of money on something that should’ve come from the original vet that saw him. I will continue to tell everyone that I know to never consider this veterinarian. Thanks for nothing.

2021-08-29I have a cat that is older. They were very quick with me and at times when I had genuine health questions, often times I couldnt get an honest answer (it would take more than a little time to receive a response). I find those qualities u acceptable, especially when you have a senior pet (whether that be a cat or dog). Veterinary care should he personalized and compassionateMany people get caught up with the fact that this clinic hospital has received awards from the local community. Dont get overly phased with this (that is merely PR).If you want a good hospital, consider Keystone, Metropolitan, or Veterinary Referral Center in Malvern. Caring for Cats is good if you do indeed have a cat.Personally, I would avoid this one.

2021-12-27Compassionate staff, got me an appointment last minute right before the holiday. Very kind and gentle with my senior cat. Provided day after follow up and called as soon as blood results were in.

2021-11-27We have a senior dog (18!) who isnt the best with strangers or the vet, and Dr. Harris and her team always go above and beyond to see her when she has an issue, fully explain what is going on and review our choices for treatment. Dr. Harris is the only vet that I have used at this facility but the rest of the staff seems just as wonderful.
