Ive been going here quite often until they closed for winter. We like their bison burgers.. Today I took my children there for ice cream and it was a disappointment. I dont know if things have changed and the place started cheaping out or the owner changed. All info on their website is outdated. They dont have a selection of icecream flavors that the website mentions. And I am not talking about rare flavors, just a simple strawberry. The lady who took my order gave me such a look for asking her to make a thinner shake. I ask people at other places to do that and they just tell me NP, more milk, less ice cream. Got it. Will do. This lady at Pretzedl Hut pretended like she would do it for me, but hasnt changed a thing. I wasnt going to return it. Just dumped it into a trash can with one of the icecreams that my child didnt like.I wonder if their burgers have changed... but I think I am not going to test. Will go elsewhere. Tripple Bs is now the best for both icecream and sandwiches.
Love the variety of soft ice cream flavors! We have been going here for a little over a year on our trips in/out of Lebanon. Most recently, we walked through the petting zoo. Its a cute little attraction a d gave the kiddos something to do while we have been unable to enjoy all of our normal activities like the park, Hershey Park, etc.❤ ice cream!! Friday nights are crazy busy. Food we also ordered was good!
Id heard about this place having a good reputation and its well deserved. They have a wide variety of foods on the menu including a bison burger. I went for the bacon cheese ranch pretzel and it did not disappoint. It has to be eaten with a knife and fork. The pretzel is made fresh and is so soft it melts like butter under the knife. Highly recommended
This is a great place! The petting zoo is fun, and they have a nice variety of food on their menu. It is typically busy, and it can be tricky pulling in & out of the parking lot. I recommend bringing cash to pay since they add on a 3.9 percent credit card surcharge (which is noted on a sign on the register).
We LOVE this place! Family oriented, always a special time! The food is Great and the ice cream is outstanding! Prices are very reasonable and plenty of parking and dining indoor and outdoor. After eating, enjoy the fun outdoor petting zoo, fun for all ages. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Excellent, fair priced ice cream for large families with a bonus petting zoo?! What?! Yes. 8 people, 4 milkshakes, 4 ice creams. Less than 25$. Plus you get to go see and pet goats, chickens, roosters, bunnies, and chicks, for free as a patron. They have small bags of food you can feed the animals and they ask for a dollar donation for them which is fair as well. We loved it, and if I had more time before we got hit with incredible rain and wind, we would have stayed and spent more time with the goats and bunnies for sure. Lovely small establishment that I plan on checking the food out when I go again next time.
The food was good, hot, and tasty. I had the broast chicken and fries, and my young companion had the fattest corn dog ever. Our milkshakes were decent; I would have liked a bit of strawberry flavor in mine, but still a good shake. The entrance is a hot mess; its very narrow and hard to get through each door if you have another person, absolutely not handicap accessible. And once inside, it gets crowded fast. The petting zoo was depressing. The animals are overfed, overweight, and not interested in human interaction. We spent a couple bucks on food and none of the animals wanted to eat it, so we went to the Funny Farm Petting zoo instead and they were happy to see us.
I love the old time feeling of this restaurant. It is like stepping back in time, in a good way! Be sure to try the tumbleweed. Very good place to bring the kids as there is a petting zoo out back. I always enjoy going to the pretzel hut. P.s.these are Mandarin ducks in the petting zoo.
The Pretzel Hut is great! They have a gigantic menu and everything is very reasonably priced. Great fried foods! Awesome ice cream and shakes! They have a petting zoo behind the restaurant. The baby goats and piglets are adorable. Make sure to buy a couple bags of feed at the sales counter... The goats are very hungry! You probably wont get cell service here but its a great enough time to make you forget about your phone. Bring the family! 5 stars!
A double cheese burger was much better than I expected! The patties were thick and juicy and it was only $5.50! The ice cream is excellent! They have soft or scooped ice-cream. They had four flavors of soft ice-cream, Chocolate, Vanilla, Peanut butter, and Strawberry. The Peanut butter was great! Its a thicker, heavier, soft ice-cream too - very good!!!The hit of the day was the petting zoo with animals all around! I dont know if my daughter liked the bunnies or the baby goat better. The Peacocks are always fun to see too. There were lots of animals and its a nice sized fenced in area to see them.
Food is usually great. Service could be better. I’ve called multiple times and have been left on hold/forgotten for 30 minutes- an hour. They’ve forgotten to call my number as well, order will just be sitting behind the counter for 10-15 minutes after it’s done. Inside and out is sometimes covered in flies but understandable because of the petting zoo/area they are in.
I just want to say that everyone is entitled to their opinions but to state on a review page that the place is depressing and animals are not cared for is inappropriate without all the facts. There are volunteers that help out in the petting zoo area and I happen to be one of them. Can someone be back there 24/7? Obviously not. The owners are busy running the restaurant with no down time! I think they do an amazing job running the restaurant and caring for the animals! Unhappy, depressed, dont come back.
They have what they call an aminal petting zoo behind the hut. There is no sign posted with the pretzel hut sign tho to indicate this. I would have never known had it not been for a lady at my church telling us about it. Some animals like goats, chickens, and rabbits roam freely. Others are in enclosed areas. While there it looked like one of the pigeons was ill and dying as it barely moved and was laying on the floor. There were no staff located in the petting area to look after these animals nor to alert them while we were there. One of the goats also came over to the group while snacking and continued getting up on the picnic table several times. I have gone to much better petting zoos where the animals were regularly looked after. I cant say Ill ever be back to the pretzel hut or their petting zoo.
It’s fun a place to go for a meal, ice cream and petting zoo. Food was good, ice cream ok. They’re specialty is soft serve- not our favorite style but good anyhow. The petting zoo was cool, as you can enter and actually go up to the animals as opposed to through a fence. Neat place to go with kids
Nestled along the highway against state game lands. Up behind the restaurant is a small zoo for the kids. Great place for everyone. Grandparents bring their grandkids, families with kids, and everyone else. Food is great, prices are very reasonable (my pulled pork sandwich was less than $4.50), portions are large and the staff is friendly and helpful. Tonights featured soft serve ice cream was raspberry and pineapple. I was too full for ice cream but would like to go back for some. The inside is quaint and there are picnic tables outside.
Came here for the petting zoo and ice cream for the toddlers. We were surprised that the animals (goats, pigs, chickens, etc.) roam freely within the petting zoo. Wouldve liked to see more animals. The ice cream was pretty good as were the french fries. We liked the kids building blocks inside to play with while waiting for the food.
This place it has to be a MUST if you are in lancaster county, just make sure you check their open hours, you wont be dissatisfied of their food. The take credit cards with a little charge or you can pay cash, then after you eat you can visit their petting zoo which is totally free
Great food great people. Were from jersey and had to go there for something and we stopped. So happy we did. We wanted to see the animals but the gate was closed and no one was there to ask and not sure if we could go in because the pictures on the review suggested we could but due to covid maybe its changed im not sure but it was fine we watched from the outside. Great lunch and spot to eat.
Cute free petting zoo, my toddler enjoyed it. Its free so dont expect the world but they had goats, chickens, pigs, peacocks, rabbits. And the food is decent, made to order. I go for items like onion rings, tater tots, popcorn chicken. And milkshakes are good and thick.
The petting zoo was great and most of the animals seemed to be happy. I just think that the rabbits should be able to move more, it can’t be good for their health to be cooped up in a cage they can’t even jump in or be able to play with the other rabbits.Otherwise I’d say the animals like the pigs, goats , and birds have it good.
Food was quite nice, especially the pretzel buns. Petting zoo mostly nice. Knocking off a point for the cooks not having masks on / having them pulled down. Also basically nobody around had a mask on, so if youre elderly or covid succeptible, save this place for another year.In a different year, Id give this a 5.
My 6 year old sprained her foot while on a camping trip in the area. I promised her an ice cream sunday with any and all toppings that she may want...asked around and all the locals said this was the place to go. Boy were they right!!!!! home made ice creams in every flavor possible, waffles, smiley face fries and so much more! to our surprise it had a petting zoo in the back! very cool chill place. Loved it!!!
Came in to support small buisness since I am sure they could of used it in these trying times and Was literally ignored. Me and my girlfriend stood there for way to long (with only one other customer who looked like he was waiting for his order) while being noticed by two women in the back and both counter boys. Finally We had enough when someone else walked in and immediately they acknowledged her and started taking her order while we stood there in shock. We did not come in because the food is good, it really is not in fact its very disappointing, but we came in to support the place since they have a cute thing going out back with a small petting zoo that is free and to support small buisness. But since 4 employees would not want to help us we will never again come back and I am making sure to let all of my friends and family from around the area know to never support such a poorly run place. Teach your employees to acknowledge every customer it is literally buisness 101.... ✌
I really liked the small petting zoo. The food was mediocre. But, what kind of annoyed me was after I swiped my card, I noticed they charged me an extra 4% for simply using credit card. I know it is a small thing, but the typical processing charge is only 2%. So they are making extra money every time someone uses a credit card.
The Pretzel Hut is a nice stop for an ice cream or a snack. They do have a full menu with burgers and sandwiches and some hot dishes but Ive never dined here for a meal. They do two weekly soft serve flavors that are typically something unique. The Peanut Butter soft serve so far is my favorite. There is a lot of outdoor seating at picnic tables and lots of parking on both sides of the road. They have a nice selection of Moxie soda here which I LOVE. Be really careful pulling off the road or back out when you leave, the speed limit is very high on this stretch of road and cars and trucks come zooming by. Its in a really well wooded scenic holler type location between two hills. The biggest disappointment and the reason I only gave it 3 stars is they do not make their pretzels. Theyre just frozen pretzels like the ones you can pick up at a gas station. I dont think it would take much more effort to make fresh pretzels ... I mean come on you are the Pretzel Hut after all. If youre not going to make your own fresh soft pretzels at least offer some locally sourced and loved brand. Theres so many to choose from considering the region we live in.
Hope you eat before you go there because youll be hungry again by the time you get through that line. Actually havent eaten there just because the food line is always extensive and other patrons advise there is a decent wait for order fulfillment. Soft ice cream is another story. Always standard vanilla, chocolate, or mixed; good variation in additinal flavors(cookies and cream, blue raspberry, oreo, peanut butter, root beer)
This is the first time Ive been to this establishment it was delicious a wonderful selection of food half decent prices I had a double cheeseburger with bacon and my boyfriend had a bacon cheeseburger they were pretty large burgers and so delicious we also had a plate of bacon cheddar cheese fries with ranch they were all so delicious I didnt get a chance to sample the pretzels or ice cream. The only downfall about my visit was the only bathroom was out of order but I hope they get that taken care of but other than that I will return in the future to the pretzel Hut
Just a trucker passing through. Never been here before. Actually just stumbled on it by accident. Glad I did. The staff were very nice and welcoming. The place has a 50s feel to it. The food was really good. Very nice place to stop in and grab lunch. Food was ready very quickly too. Service was great as well.
I remember coming here when I was a kid, and it was here long before that. Perhaps different owners but the feel is the same.It can get busy on weekends, but there is overflow parking across the road (be careful as Route 501 is 45 or 55mph here. The pretzels (not the cheaper ones in the case), but the fresh pretzels taste awesome. A bit of grill flavor on my last one. My kids love the cinnamon sugar ones (daughter said it was one of the best she ever ate!)The burgers look really yummy, but didnt try one on my last trip.Little petting zoo around back you can visit while you eat your ice cream cones!
None of the staff were wearing masks. Most of the customers were not either. There were people eating inside even though it is still not allowed in the county. They nickel and dime you for every little thing. The food and ice cream are ok but nothing to write home about.
Top notch cheeseburger subs! The Yuengling fish sandwich was also good. Their soft serve flavors other than chocolate and vanilla change weekly. They all tend to be delicious. The petting zoo, if thats what you want to call it, is a fun way to enjoy your cone or dish of ice cream after hot food. The goats are friendly and even the chickens too! There is a quarter machine for feed but I think the animals are so spoiled that they dont even bother with it anymore! The animals have the whole hollow to roam around out back.Highly recommend the Pretzel Hut!
My husband son and I went for a late dinner at 7:30 on Sunday, their website says hours are till 9:00. Upon approaching the counter a hand written sign was laying there stating the kitchen was closed. We do not appreciate places that do not uphold their hours. We left hungry.
Given that this restaurant is in Lancaster county where carbs are a way of life, my statement that they know how to fry food should carry extra weight. If you want a cheeseburger stuffed inside a grilled cheese sandwich with any one of five different kinds of fries, then this is the place.
(Reposting as a local guide based on a top yelp reviewer request with authorization from Yelp)Racist act took place against a mother and a child started by a hostile patron and which resulted in personal attacks from the employees and some regulars (against the mother and child) who ganged up on the obviously foreigner mother and a child, owners acted as villagers defending their people not as business owners justifying all that had happened making up lies and accusations, shameful. Here’s part of the review and the rest can be read on Yelp:I witnessed the most ignorant and bit racist thing before my eyes take place there, there was this lady with a child that was petting the animals and enjoying their time like everyone else, the child was handling baby bunnies then a lady comes from behind them started being rude about how tiny the bunnies are and that they shouldnt be touching them, even though many people did before them but I saw this lady giving them dirty looks before that incident for some reason she looked like she doesnt like the way they look or the non-English language they were speaking, the lady kept yapping about that non-stop so the mother took the bunny from the childs hands and put it back in place asking that lady in a very nice way to stop that and they moved to the next thing, now I saw that lady talking with everyone and claiming that she saw the mother and her child abusing the animals and she was going to call the management and of course other women there got worked up over that, saw the child playing with another animals and they approached the mother to stop her child, at that moment the mother was very upset and felt targeted so she said that they did nothing wrong and there was no sign saying not to touch the baby animals and her child like all children there loves to hold the baby animals, of course the lady that stirred all that came back with a couple of women who work at the pretzel hut who to my surprise did not ask questions but came yelling when the mother and child where sitting on a bench holding the baby bunny, what made me believe its an act of racism and targeting that woman and her child is that when the server in a blue pretzel hit shirt came in the most unprofessional and rude way telling the mother to give her the bunny she started yelling in front of everyone that the mother shoved the bunny at her I was very close to the bench where the mother and her child were sitting and saw with my own eyes that the mother held the bunny with her both hands and put it in that angry employee hands, there was no shoving, at that point the mother was so upset and because of all the screaming match that was going on she said shes did no harm to the animals and that she doesnt understand why are those women hanging up on her like that then asked them to go check the cameras before believing that woman (that was still yelling in the back that they should call the cops) the yelling keep going on and on even when she said she was leaving they kept telling her to leave and never come back (just to be extra mean to make it sound like she was kicked out) oh they told her there are no cameras! Yet they made a judgement based on some crazy womans act just because she was loud enough, and that employee that came and was standing there being rude making it like a high school fight made up a big fat lie that no one dared to say anything about? She was rude and non-smiling when serving customers too but I never thought an employee representing a place of business thats supposed to be professional would act that way, it made me sad because I as a mother was the target a lot for mom-shaming and people who find nothing better to do with their times other than harassing families with children but it was the first time I saw this amount of ganging up on one person, maybe its a village mentality? Who knows,

2022-05-04Visited this gem with my dad over the weekend for the first time in years, will def make it a point to go more often! They have the best crab & cheese pretzel I ever had & its big and also one of the best cheesesteaks I have ever had! Had a fun time seeing the animals, especially the goats, the peacocks & the adoreable pigs. Its hopping on the weekends so I recommend trying to go after the lunch rush & before the supper rush because overflow parking fills up. Thanks for a great experience!

2022-06-12Great bugers but thats just the start! Such a wide munu and youll want to try everything. The buns for our cheeseburgers were toasted a bit. You dont get that kind of love everywhere. The mozzarella sticks were crisp and gooey. The sweet potato fries were delicious. They also have tasty craft beverages and ice cream. I have a black raspberry shake that didnt last long. Soooo goood.

2021-05-21Such an underrated little restaurant! We were all very surprised with how tasty the food was, and overall, it wasnt pricey. There were a handful of outdoor tables with umbrellas to eat at, and the food was prepared in a timely manner. The petting zoo right next door (literally, 150 feet away) was a great little surprise! Well definitely be going back soon!

2022-05-02I have enjoyed stopping here whenever we are in the area for many, many years. They have delicious sandwiches, fries, burgers, dogs and of course soft pretzels and more. My family really enjoys the petting zoo there. It is a very popular roadside family stop. I recommend stopping there if your in the area.

2022-06-19I spent 5 years coming here every other week to deliver animal feed to the petting zoo. So everyone that says the animals look neglected is wrong because I know the lady that feeds them and she’s there every single day. The owners are amazing people. Visited on Father’s Day and it was packed but to me it seemed the ship was sailing without any issues. Job well done Pretzel Hut, we’ll obviously be back!

2022-05-10Food is alright, nothing special. What is great is the pretzels and soft serve ice cream. Also my daughter adores the petting zoo on the property. It’s definitely worth a stop with the kids in the summer!

2022-05-06Honestly one of the best Philly Cheesesteaks I have ever eaten. Its great with mushrooms and peppers or their California version. The Jalapeño stuffed pretzel was pretty good too. The eat in experience is reminiscent of diners from back in the day. Great Food, Great service. I highly recommend.

2021-08-08I love Pretzel hut. Whats better than good and a bit of entertainment for the kids. Come get some delicious food and then visit the petting zoo after some ice cream. Prefect place for families yo dine out at and get se energy out of the kids. I just wish I was able to get better pictures.
