We stayed here as part of Amexs Fine Hotels and Resort program and had a lovely stay. The superior room was huge. 4/5 on cleanliness as anything we found was very minor. We were missing a coffee machine in the room which we didnt realize till the morning. I was hoping for a nice cup of Nespresso. The staff was very friendly other than the concierge I chatted with through email. I decided not to work with them based on the lack of professional and curt responses. The food was fabulous. Late night chicken sandwich with fig jam was amazing. In room breakfast was fantastic. The museli was delicious - Ive never had anything like it.The bar was lovely and the building is beautiful. Because this hotel doesnt have all the updates it does price lower than other 5 stars. I definitely wouldnt pay $700+ a night to stay here but as a FHR stay it was well worth it.
Worst lobby bar service ever experienced. We went for a cocktail to celebrate a special event and the waitress (once she knew we were only Having a cocktail) actually “removed the linen from my lap”, stepped on foot when bringing the bill and tried to sneak in an extra charge. I am so disappointed as I have frequented this lobby experience for years but won’t be back to the Ritz Philadelphia.
Overall me and my partner had an amazing past weekend at this location. We ordered room service for breakfast both mornings and the food and service were outstanding. We had a late check out which went smoothly as expected. However, I give this location only 3 stars as the bar closed very early on that Friday evening and a bartender named “Fous” was extremely rude. We walked up to the bar and he passed on the information that the bar was closed in the most disrespectful way. As I questioned why it was closed he could not give me an accurate reason why, which I was completely agitated about. I further questioned who the manager was and he replied with “I DON’T KNOW” till the manager showed up. I then approached the manager and asked him why the bar area was closed so early. He then answered that the early closure had to do with the low capacity of hotel guests. I was baffled due to the bar area being completely occupied. Me and my partner were confused and had absolutely no comprehension of why the manager would give us such a nonsense answer.I have never in my entire life experienced such rudeness within the hospitality industry and that this incident occurred at the Ritz Carlton is non acceptable. It is actually a disgrace to the Ritz Carlton’s brand image as guests pay quite amount of money to have a comfortable stay. Exceptional customer service is vital, essential and should be number one priority for any accommodating establishment because it is intangible. Which furthermore enhances customer service.Do a better job at training your staff Ritz Carlton.
No door guys. Literally. Be ready to carry your bags and open the heavy metal doors in the cold windy Philadelphia weather by yourself. And there is no Ritz Carlton breakfast experience. Plastic wrapped bagel and fruit is their total buffet. But they the building is pretty.
We had a wonderful stay at loved our room, however our valet parking was a disaster! We were trying to catch our flight out of PHL and we waited 45 MINUTES for our car!!! There weren’t any other guests in line before us, we were the only ones there who needed the valet service! Our car also smelled like smoke we finally got our car! So not impressed!!!!
The hotel provides a nice atmosphere, very helpful team out front with bags, rooms are clean, elevator is key card protected to your floor which is nice. The parts that didn’t feel like the Ritz: 1. Water pressure in the shower, it worse than most Marriotts I’ve stayed in, a small dribble. I had to rinse my hair under the running tub water to get the shampoo and conditioner out. 2. The restaurant in the hotel, great atmosphere but the food was literally inedible. I only tried breakfast and dinner but both were very unappealing. 3. No ambassador/plat upgrade even though the hotel is not very full. Breakfast is not an inclusion for this group either. I did receive a 2 hour extended checkout. Needless to say, Marriott will not be my choice when staying in Philadelphia moving forward. As this is their crème de la crème hotel here.
I’ve stayed at many Ritz Carlton hotels around the country, but this was my first time at the Philadelphia location. I was NOT impressed AT ALL! For $900/night I expect better than one ply toilet paper! I also expect a stocked mini bar as well as an ice bucket with a plastic liner. The $200 room service dinner was worth maybe $75. Undercooked pasta, dried out over cooked chicken, tough gristly steak which I was told was a filet (filet of shoe leather?!) and a delicious $54 bottle of wine that retails for literally $13 (I googled it). Also, the bathroom sink did not drain. When I raised these issues with the front desk the woman who I spoke with basically rolled her eyes and said she would address these issues and get back to me, but never did. The night before I checked into the Ritz I stayed at a Holiday Inn in NC for $137 including tax. It was WAY better than the Ritz!! i will NOT stay at this Ritz Carlton ever again. Lesson learned the expensive way.
We frequent this property often and are loyal to the Marriott brand but this particular stay was sub par.The club lounge is not open on sundays (which would have been good information to have at the time of booking to spend less on the room), there was no food available in the entire hotel- restaurant was fully committed but we could t even order lunch at the bar or room service?!, staff was rude, car took over an hour to be brought up, no warm water for the entire hotel which makes showering impossible, and they couldn’t even print me my room charges because the printers weren’t working. Seem like it was a off weekend for them- everyone we spoke with blamed the poor service on 3 weddings taking up their time. Strange experience
I am of the personal belief that if you dont have something good to say you dont say it. However, after a repeated unacceptable experience at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia I am compelled to write this review. Despite my poor previous experience at the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia to celebrate my wifes birthday back in mid-October I decided to give the hotel another try prompted by celebrating my daughters birthday and taking her to the Dua Lipas concert being held at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center.Upon arrival to the hotels valet parking things started off on the wrong foot I pulled in and there was nobody to greet me or take my car, as well there was no one to help with my familys luggage. A couple of minutes later a gentleman showed up and helped us with our luggage to our room, the interaction with this gentleman was the only one that was as I would expect in a hotel like this one. The following morning, we decided to try the breakfast at Aquimero, initially we were given the only option of a sit-down breakfast with my family at a sofa and two lounge chairs, pretty unusual for a sit down breakfast. We found the staff to simply be reluctant or unwilling or on interest in accommodating my request for a table. There were plenty of high tables around the lobby of the hotel which would have been just fine as my two children are grown up and they could sit by themselves. However, they did not consider this an alternative. The staff simply directed me to sit down at the bar for a family breakfast for a special occasion. We were surprised to find an empty four chair table on the opposite side of the bar which we went ahead and used. The staff was initially reluctant to serve us there as this was not at the bar, this was four feet away from a bar stool. We had an uneventful breakfast and headed on for our daily activities. The next morning, we returned to have breakfast at Aquimero. This time not only the staff was rude but the maitre-d of the restaurant told me that there was no way that they could sit me at that table on the far end of the bar because they dont work that far out, he went on to direct me to sit down at the table that that was the only option available. After that he just walked away, I guess that when he realized that we were still waiting to sit down for breakfast he came back. I pointed out a couple of tables that were available around the bar and he simply said that that was not possible. This was the maitre-d of the restaurant, what a shock. I was simply not expecting such a poor level of service at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia or any other luxury hotel. They gave me and my family waiting for an additional 15 minutes before they could prepare a table that had emptied when I first arrived at the reception. While standing with my family waiting for a table, the restaurants maitre-d returned and apologized for the situation stating that he was just a third-party contractor and had no control of the rules imposed by the hotel administration. While stepping out into the street for the valet service, my car was parked at the curb but there was no one out there to assist to hand out my keys or help with the luggage. After a learned my lesson from my dinner experience at Aquimero back in October I had opted for having a sit-down dinner at McCormick and Schmidt just across the street and at The Capital Grille just around the corner. I guess I should have done the same thing for breakfast, find a place outside of the hotel or perhaps stayed at The Four Seasons again. The level of service offered at The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia was unconscionable, certainly not at the level of its competitors or even other Ritz-Carlton hotels. I am eager to hear from you.
Stayed with my husband for a night for his bday. Not the great experience at all. The side of mattress had blood stains and the bathroom had no ventilation. When front desk asked us the reason of our visit I said for my husband’s birthday and they us $100 as a bday gift for breakfast or drinks. Not only they charged us for the breakfast but also when I found a black hair in my turkey sausage and I addressed it to the waitress she apologized and said that she’ll send the manager over. The manager never came and she again apologized saying she will take it care which never happened. It’s so disappointed and unacceptable to get low quality control food and mattress with blood stains when you pay a minimum $500 a day.
I visit Philly at least 5 times a year for business. Its fair to say that Ive stayed in every beautiful hotel in town. This property is my favorite. Aside from the fabulous room, everyone is so nice and helpful. Given that I was traveling alone for business, Maggie at the top floor never made me feel like I was alone. She checked on me, made awesome suggestions, and even made sure there were goodies Im not allergic to! Mimoza is so warm and caring as well. She took very good care of me, made sure I was also happy and comfortable. Honestly, I wish they were both at every hotel, everywhere I go! They are gems!
We are silver members. We have stayed at Ritz Carltons all over the world. Most are exceptional. Philadelphia is the exception. Staff is unprofessional and unresponsive, including management. Our room was not cleaned after time was confirmed by management. Wedding guests were not booked on same floor but spread throughout hotel and caused major disturbances in wee hours of the morning for other guests. No security was available to deal with the issues. Very disappointing experience.
We stayed for one night, and were not impressed. We were upgraded to a larger room, and found the seating area sparse and the couch a bit grubby. The bedroom was lovely, very well appointed, with a comfy bed and great bed linens. We took a bath and the tub was so slow draining that it took several hours. Main desk staff were considerate, but when we asked for a backpack to be retrieved from our car, did not get back to us. We had to find a staff member at the doors to finally get us information about where our bag was. (Thank you, Sebastian). The arrival area is confusing, and there were no staff there to help us understand where to park. We were finally approached by a man who just asked our name and handed us a valet ticket without a greeting. The whole experience was not up to par. We have stayed at many Ritz properties, and were disappointed in Philadelphia.
This was the worst stay I’ve had at a Ritz-Carlton. We stayed here for three nights for a wedding. The building is beautiful with a stunning lobby, but that’s the only nice thing I can say. Our first room was drab, the curtains were ripped, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. When we asked to change rooms, the staff was kind but came without any luggage cart and we had to carry all of our stuff to the next room. The next room also had ripped curtains. On the first day we arrived, the hostess sat us at a table near the bar in the lobby and waited 10 minutes without coming by our table. At the same time several tables around us and folks at the bar we’re getting service. I went to the bar and asked if I needed to order there and the bartender said no and he would send someone over. We waiting another 10 minutes without anyone coming by and we left to the Capital Grille (fantastic food and service). We reached out to Ritz-Carlton/Marriott and did not get a reply. I recommend avoiding this location.
I don’t normally reach out regarding service concerns, but I decided to do so given our recent experience at the Philadelphia Ritz spa.I booked a weekend with my daughter who is leaving for college soon. We decided to have massages and facials during our visit and looked forward to our stay. When we checked in, we were shown to the relaxing room that was not quite that. There was a special group something going on in there, complete with food and drink. We sat to one side of the room feeling like we were crashing their party. However, when I inquired as to if we could have food/lunch between our sessions we were told no. The guest service rooms could not smell like food. We ended up going back to our room between sessions. Our first treatment was a massage. Subpar at best for both of us. Kind of sad when my daughter said her massages at Hand and Stone were better. Neither one of us had a good experience and it definitively was not a Ritz-worthy massage. We left to go back to our room until our next service. Though, the small group was still in the relaxing room with plenty of food and drink. Almost felt like we were getting kicked out.We checked in for our next service about 10 minutes before and again taken to the relaxing room — which was anything but — again. The same group was quite loud cleaning their items up.Our facials were wonderful, but by then, what was supposed to be a well-regarded and recognized spa experience was a disappointment.I’m not sure why, but we were definitely not provided the level of service for which the Ritz is recognized. A great lesson that it doesn’t matter if it’s the Ritz or a more moderately-priced hotel— cost does not equate to customer service. I do hope that the quality level in the spa is addressed. Incredibly disappointed.Thank you,
The hotel was selected for two reasons other than the fact that it is a Ritz-Carlton. I was familiar with the location and I knew that I would not have to drive anywhere. Also, I got an excellent rate by using Priceline. On arrival the valet and bell staff were very helpful and friendly, although you are unloading right on Broad Street. The building is beautiful. The room was also beautiful and very clean. The view of City Hall was excellent. I really enjoyed the bar and dining and spent part of every evening there. The staff was very friendly. In fact, everyone I met in the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The only problem during the stay is that housekeeping skipped our room one day. We needed towels and coffee and it took a couple hours to get those. Considering the strange times in which we live, I will cut the hotel some slack on that. When I return to Philly, I will certainly consider staying here again. I read a few negative reviews of the hotel, but I had none of those problems.
Ive had better service and a nicer room at discount hotels. Expect to carry your own bags and open your own doors. Expect stains on the furniture and a complete lack of housekeeping. Oh, and dont fall for the upgrade. Theyre actually moving you to a room that they cant sell. Cant believe this hotel still has the Ritz name on it.
I have stayed at Ritz around the world (London, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore, NY, Thailand etc). Theys all met and mostly exceed my expectations. But sadly Ritz in Philly is completely not in the same range. Ritz at Philly is at the very best a 4 stars hotel. In the room I stayed, there were a long list of things that were truly non 5 stars like: 1) Dusty around desks, lamps, closet and mostly everything and every corner you look. 2)Bathroom floor with long hair and used contact lenses 3)One telephone not working. 4)Desk includes no stationaries. 5)Double beds are really just a full size bed, not the normal Queen size. 6)Staff were friendly but not really 5 stars hotel level helpful and attentive. 7)The exterior of the building does look grand. But its interior needs a lot of upgrade (elevator especially looking dirty and old).
Not the fanciest Ritz Ive stayed at but overall a good experience, clean and beautiful lobby. Wish the restaurant menu and options were more robust and that the room service was open later and was more accurate. Wonderful staff, especially the valet and bell staff. Good location. Concierge and front desk staff were helpful and friendly.
This was one of the worst Marriott experiences I have ever had (and also the most expensive). The only positive to this place is it’s location being walking distance to many restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, bars, etc. Not only were the rooms super outdated but they were sooooo gross & didn’t look like they had been cleaned at all. There were hairs ALL over the bathroom counter, shower wall, in shower drain, etc. The toilet would not flush right - it just kept reflushing itself and running. I did not have time to request a room change as I was in town for a wedding and my room was not ready for early check in like I had requested so I had to take what I was given. I was with a large group of 30+ friends who also stayed at the Ritz and we all had the same experience. The bar waitstaff in the lobby - particularly this older woman with curly hair who was always working the evenings was soooooo incredibly rude I’ve never experienced anything like it. My group and I spent a LOT of money at the hotel including many meals and drinks at the bar and this server should not work in hospitality. She was very nasty with multiple people in our group and we saw her speak to surrounding tables the same way. I could continue to go on about all the ways the Ritz fell short but the last thing I’ll say is that Sunday the valet service was unacceptable. We were waiting with other guests for our car and some of the guests stated they had been waiting over TWO hours for their car to arrive. We were all on tight schedules to make it home to our families/drop friends at the airport and the valet service was unacceptable. I would not recommend this place to anyone or ever stay here again. This was by far the worst Marriott experience I’ve ever had and I wish I would have spent my money elsewhere.
Newly renovated rooms, and revamped staff makes this a comfortable luxury hotel. The biggest issue is the structure of the ground floor. A former bank building does not lend itself to an open air restaurant and check in lobby. The ramp and stairs arent easy to maneuver if you have limited mobility. But having stayed here at least once a year for the last decade, it definitely improves overall every year.
If I am on business travel and the cost of the stay is on my company, then fine. My stay at the Ritz was for my pregnant wife and I to getaway for a day at a high end hotel. We arrived at Valet with a staff member from Valet yelling into his phone. He didnt offer to take our bags or have someone come offer to take our bags. We got an early check in which was great and I really appreciated the front desk helping with that. I ordered a spa treatment for my wife while I went to the bar to have a drink and watch the Phillies. The bar closes at 3 and doesnt reopen till 4. News to me and a lot of patrons. The bar was filling and the staff had to remind each new customer that theyre not technically open yet, but can get us a drink. My wife came back from the spa saying the Massage was more like a rub down with oversized rubber gloves than an actual massage. The hotel is beautiful and opulent and as stated before if I was staying for business then I think its fine, but I would not recommend the hotel to friends or family given how expensive it is and what you get for the money.
The front desk team was very helpful. They went above and beyond - helping me order flowers to the room for my wife who was staying over night in the city and even printed out two family photos, framed them, and left them in the room for her. Room was comfortable and clean. Limited dining options for room service.
We had a great stay at this location! Our honeymoon flight was canceled and we decided to stay here one night. When the front desk learned of our troubles, they upgraded us to a suite on the 23rd floor and sent up a bottle of bubbly! We had no suitcase, but we were more than happy to hang in the provided robes and soak up the views!
Had a wonderful stay in Philly for a girls weekend. Hotel rooms are a good size for a city hotel. Food options are limited in the hotel as there is only 1 restaurant but there are many great options within walking distance. The hotel is very centrally located.I have to say that Lisa in the lobby bar was amazing, so kind & diligent, she went above and beyond.
Our stay fell quite short of my expectations. We reserved a suite and when we arrived, there was a half drank water bottle in the mini bar. We told the front desk and they replaced it while we were out for the evening. When we returned we found that our door was left open and left unlocked by the staff. As we got ready for bed we realized that the foam pillows we had requested were not in the room and that there was no coffee pot, coffee or cups. The next morning, as we left we informed the staff of our challenges and they said that they would have it addressed before we returned around 3:30 that afternoon. When we returned our room had not been serviced and none of the requests had been fulfilled. We waited downstairs while the room was serviced but none of our requests had yet to be fulfilled. We talked to the front desk again before we left for the evening. When we returned from dinner we found a coffee pot but no coffee or cups. We also found additional pillows but they were not foam. The staff did make financial adjustments and made some very nice gestures since it was our anniversary which I do appreciate but it was frustrating not to get the most basic level of service from a Ritz-Carlton. These would have been basic expectations at a Courtyard or even a Days Inn, let alone the Ritz Carlton. I kept saying to my wife we should have just saved the money and stayed at a lower end hotel. Again the staff made very kind financial gestures to try and right the situation which was much appreciated. For us however, we will not spend the additional money for the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia.
We came in town for a wedding at the ritz and stayed for the weekend. The wedding was beautiful in thegrand ballroom. But we were a bit disappointed in the hotel rooms and service. No area in front of hotel to pull car up , no valet or bellman unless you ask at front desk. The lobby bar is gorgeous and bartender were great but one of the waitstaff was extremely ride to all of us. She was frustrated staying we were blocking her table although no one was sitting there..she was overly rude to us.And I have to say our room was the worst part..was not clean. We heard a noise on and off all night..a weird buzzing noise...when we finally found coffee machine in drawer a d went to make a cup we realized what the noise was...the LOUDEST coffee maker ever! And it didnt even work correctly 😒 the ritz is definitely not the old school ritz...price not worth it!!Pictures show stains on floor of room and something on bed skirt.
This is our second time staying with the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia this summer and it was our best visit yet. The front desk concierge was lovely, she upgraded our room and gave us a $50 credit after I mentioned we had just stayed in June. The room was nice and clean. The location is great and the view is beautiful. The staff is very friendly and always greets you and says hello. If I had to improve on anything at this hotel it would be the food. Room service breakfast is always presented beautifully and comes to your door quite quick- it just doesn’t taste THAT great for the price. We love the experience of having breakfast in our room but there is much better food else where in Philly. Eggs a little rubbery, coffee is watery and bland, cold toast. I know I am paying for the experience and don’t mind. Valet could also use some improvements. They seem to always ignore us because we drive an old beat up truck. It’s okay- I get it. They also lost our keys and we came back to a message on the hotel phone after dinner letting us know they would be calling a locksmith. Luckily, they located them before we even called back. For the price I honestly love this hotel. The lobby is really beautiful. If you stay mid week it’s pretty quiet and you can get through check in and valet in a matter of minutes. It is by no means perfect, but in these times I don’t expect perfection. It’s always a good, relaxing time and I appreciate the effort the staff makes.
This was not a restful experience as our suite was next to the elevator and very noisy because of noise from the elevator. In addition,?6)3 hangers and closet had dust and the furniture in the room was not wiped down. The room service menu was limiting and the food was mediocre. The staff was very courteous, but could. It provide meaningful changes as the hotel was filled to capacity.Overall, a very disappointing experience and I will not return.
We spent 3 nights in a junior suite. The shower is the size of an old phone booth. The toilet room had so little space my knees banged into the wall using it. The bedding was fine, but the mattress should have been replaced a long time ago, it was sagging and uncomfortable. The area around the hotel is filled with trash, urine scented streets, and homeless people. Stay elsewhere.
My wife and I have had multiple visits to this hotel. On one visit the desk associate invited us to stay forever. It was a wonderful way to be welcomed and it has stayed with us. The hotel is clean, functional, Aquimero serves great drinks and a breakfast my wife and love. We know that in Covid times service and staffing may be challenged at times but the Ritz-Carlton barely misses a beat. Rooms are comfortable and spacious, service rock solid. We will keep returning because even a one night stay 70 miles from home feels like a vacation. On the longer term wish list would be a larger gym/workout facility. But we could stay forever.
The Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia this building looks awesome inside it looks really great theres a lot of stuff is in the center of the city of Philadelphia could place to go eat take out pictures bring the family well maintain real clean real neat very touristic and awesome place to get some great pictures I recommended for photographers but besides I had a great time with my family visiting Philadelphia and this place
My wife and I had an overall good stay at the hotel. The only issue we had was with breakfast in the lobby. We are seasoned travelers, and we have never encountered the delays and confusion we saw at the Ritz anywhere in the world. Breakfast should be a straightforward process. It wasnt. We waited an hour and twenty minutes to receive scrambled eggs. That, in anyones book, is unacceptable. Part of the delay, they claimed, was the fact we needed reservations (even though we were staying at the hotel, and not all tables were taken). This resulted in a 20 minute wait where we were offered two mimosas as we waited. The biggest offense was finding out at the end that the mimosas were actually charged - one would have thought this was complimentary to compensate for the service. This breakfast experience alone will deter me from staying at this hotel since I had to cancel a walking tour I was late for. Again, scrambled eggs dont take that long when there are only 4 other tables occupied.
Stayed here for a weekend getaway to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. The only reason this place gets two stars is for the actual building and a luxury bathroom. Now for the reasons for the poor review: 1. No one is opening doors or carrying luggage. Expect to carry your own bags. 2. The upgrade to a deluxe king is a 5th floor king on the Broad Street side. 5 th floor is definitely not going to get you away from the street noise. This upgrade just moves you to a room that they cant sell because no one wants to stay there. 3. The design of the hotel bar/ restaurant really subtracts from the beauty of the building. 4. Stains on the furniture in the room. Housekeeping doesnt even make the bed or provide clean towels. I dont expect a full cleaning for a two night stay, but making the bed and exchanging towels should be done everyday. After reading the other reviews, now I realize that this hotel is now managed by Maryott. I cant believe that the name Ritz is still on this hotel. It definitely doesnt feel like a luxury hotel. Ive received better service and a better room at less expensive hotels. Skip the Ritz on your next trip to Philly.
Honestly didn’t like it very much. It was very pretty that is true, but all in all did not receive a 5 star hotel treatment. The bathroom mirror had corrosion at the bottom and the curtain had hair…Hair! Just thankful it was just one night. But we won’t be staying there any time soon. The 3 stars are for the service that was good at the end.
I have stayed at the Ritz all over the US. This was by far the lowest rated from me. We did room service and the food was terrible. My Philly cheesesteak was probably cooked earlier in the day it was dry. Provolone was asked for yet the selection was either cheddar or American cheese. I opted for cheddar ( who makes a cheesesteak with cheddar in Philly?) it came with white American. The fires were soggy and uneatable. Very wine I ordered they were out of. I ordered two bottles of wine at $90 per and they were low end and not what I wanted.i do not like giving poor reviews because we hardly ever have a need to especially when we stay at high end hotels. The only thing high about this Ritz is the name.Oh and lastly when we checked out the bell staff had empty luggage carts and bicycles in front of the entry way which made it difficult to depart.
Front desk was good, bell hop was good, everything else was trash. They asked to see my room key multiple times (I dress comfortable in sweats and shirt most of the time), but didnt ask for those in front of us. The bartender treated us the same way. As a heavy business traveler that spends 100+ days out of town a year Ive had better service at dive bars and 3 star hotels. If you want to dress comfortable expect everything to be questioned. I spent over 1k in this hotel in one day and treated like I didnt belong there
Quick one night stay passing through Philadelphia. The property is absolutely stunning. Check-in and check-out very efficient and the food in the lobby restaurant was great. A special thank you too Hakeem (super helpful and friendly) David (mgr), as well as Ava and Jasmine from the restaurant whom are absolute gems. Super clean rooms and Amazing views from the 17th floor. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Check in and out was exceptional! They accommodated a very early check in which was much appreciated. The room was excellent and very clean. We requested plates and silverware to the room and they were never delivered. Dirty dishes left outside the room were not cleaned up for over 18 hours. Dining options are not available prior to 8am on Saturday. When dining the food was very good but they were not willing to add tomato to an omelet which is fairly basic. Overall a decent experience but not the ritz Carlton standard we are used to.
This was a truly disappointing stay. The staff was super rude. No one offered help at check in or check out. I had to manage a 4yr old and my bags all by myself. My sister had an issue with her room and when I called on her behalf the front desk person was exceptionally rude. The towels in my room were torn. When I ordered in room breakfast it was beyond disappointing. Cold stale coffee with a market bought soggy granola bar thrown on top of yogurt served as “parfait”. This property is no where even close to a five start. After this stay I would never again stay at any Ritz again. Truly disappointed
The staff was very friendly and professional. Food from room service and at the restaurant located in hotel was very good. The room wasn’t really worth what I paid for it, but very comfortable bed. Located in perfect location. As soon as it started to rain the tv and WiFi went out.
Checkin was at 4 pm but my room wasnt ready until closer to 5 (they didnt care that much). Oh and the valet got into an accident with a bus while parking my rental car. They assured me that I wouldnt get charged for the valet (so nice!). Doesnt have a pool. The spa doesnt have a sauna or jacuzzi. Rooms are decently nice. Make memories at the #RC!
Lovely ambience, top-notch customer service. We had a small issue with our room and a new room was given to us in no time. When they heard it was my cousins birthday, they bumped our room up a few floors to give us a better view of the city. 10/10 would recommend. And its really really beautiful, theyve got this old-time counter in the elevator lobby. And the view of Philly is magnificent through the windows.
We did not enjoy our stay at this establishment at all especially the conditions in our room. As a Amex FHR member, we were told our room was upgraded to a higher level and initial elation was reduced to frustration when we entered the room to find it was 1) several floors above the external main HVAC unit for the hotel which was on 24/7 with a LOUD fan. 2) no matter how we adjusted the temp on the room thermostat, the air coming from the AC unit was humid air. It was as if the AC wasn’t working and only the fan was on. The next morning, we ordered breakfast at the atrium and our food took over 40 minutes to prepare…this was for a take out order. Not sure if they thought since it was a to-go order that other patrons sitting in the restaurant had priority. So I had to wait over 40 min for a simple breakfast order. My children were left flabbergasted when they were told one thing by the front desk on a phone for room service and ended up having room service talking to the front desk directly to have our room service order rectified(for the Kid’s program treat). I have never seen such miscommunication and confusion at such a high end establishment. We felt more like we were staying at a traditional Fairfield Inn and not the Ritz Carlton!
My family and I went back to the Ritz after a very disappointing experience last year. We had two separate rooms and when we arrived at 5:00 (after check in) one of the rooms was still not ready. Waited over an hour for second room to be ready. Please note my wife actually called twice prior to arrival to make she we were set with our reservations. We were told that since one night was comped from our terrible experience last year that those rooms are whatever’s left over. I purchased another two rooms so it wasn’t just us trying to get a free night. So the way the Ritz handles someone’s poor experience is to have them come back and give them a worse experience and room. After waiting over an hour to finally get in we actually had to move the another room because it was the wrong room without the two doubles beds we requested. Six of us are trying to get ready for a reservation that we now only had 45 min to left to get to. The other rooms AC as broken. Called for it to be fixed. Not fixed and actually got up to 71 the first night. Had to now move our rooms because the AC was not fixed as we told them from the very beginning. The room we were now moved into was extra small with a nightstand (#2619) in front of the window because the room was too small to have it next to the bed.My wife probably spent over an hour in total having to call, go to the front desk, and deal with this crap while on our vacation. Not to mention we had to twice pack up our stuff to move rooms.I would like to note that our drinks were comped when we arrived because we were waiting over an hour to get in our room.Absolutely one of the most disappointing experiences since this was a make up from last year. We stay at the Ritz in almost every city we travel to. Definitely not worth the money and will be taking this one off the list for when we travel back to Philly.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, and the lobby/restaurant is breathtaking. The rooms are spacious and clean, and housekeeping was particularly noteworthy on our trip. For the most part everything was positive, but since this visit was in early June 2021, there were a couple of staffing issues that were acceptable as the hotel is staffing up post-pandemic; the valet team was nice, but wait times for vehicles on both the parking and pick-up side were long. The restaurant was good, but the hours were limited, especially early-week, which was odd for a hotel restaurant/bar. But, all of the staff was friendly and helpful and well likely stay here again when we return to Philly!
We love the central location and style of the hotel. The rotunda is gorgeous. The room was nice but it feels like it’s starting to get a bit dated. Service at the restaurant was very slow, likely due to the pandemic. We had a very relaxing, but pricey, massage at the spa. All in all, a nice staycation in a great location.
Upon arrival at the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia, I was greeted by the valet. I wasn’t offered any help with my bags, despite having seven bags and a cooler (my wife is breast-feeding). After carrying our bags up to the front desk through door that wasn’t automatic or held open, I was greeted by helpful staff member. The doors at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia are heavy and awkward. It is really difficult to carry your bags through theses doors. especially when you have seven of them. She looked at my bags, and asked if I might need help with those. I agreed and in 10 minutes or so a bellhop met me to take the bags upstairs. The room was clean and the view of downtown was nice. Having to pay daily for Internet seemed a bit archaic especially at 9.95 per day. Otherwise, the food and drink in the room was similarly expensive to other hotels. Food from the hotel restaurant was also delicious. Overall, I would likely stay at another place at a similar price point or even pay a little bit more.
Our Room was beautiful, clean, and comfortable but the service was not Ritz Carlton standards. When we arrived we got out the car and the bellhop took one bag then held a conversation with staff while the rest of our luggage waited in the street. Valet told us they couldnt locate our car two nights in a row causing us to miss reservations. You also have to open the door for yourself here. But the restaurant was good. Will not be staying here again. Its like the people that work there dont know they work at a Ritz or have never stayed at one.
The service overall was just unacceptable. Calling to get coffee more than once a day and it not being delivered gets to be a little bit annoying. Also requested my room to be cleaned multiple times and it would either never happen or I would have to call more than once. The restaurant / bar is actually really good and the bar manager is great.
Having stayed in Philly many times before, we were excited for the luxuries supposedly offered by the Ritz. It was the worst stay, we have had at a hotel. First, we got to our room to find the toilet not working. Maintenance came to fix it, which was fine and things like this happen, we understand. We then noted our view was of an A/C unit that covered the entire window. Nevertheless, we figured we would be in the city and to let these two annoyances slide. We went down to the lobby, which doubles as a restaurant/bar (super luxurious I know), to get a drink. We understand COVID restrictions with seating but we were told by the hostess, in a very condescending manner that they were at capacity. Again, understood and this was fine, however, the hostess was quite rude in speaking with us. When she finally figured out we were guests at the hotel rather than random people off the street (apparently this happens a lot?), she offered to have the bartender make us to go drinks to take to the room. Contrarily, the staff at the front desk were exceptional and the only portion of the stay that deserves any positive feedback. However, the final straw was when we arrived home. The valet had loaded our bags into the rear of our vehicle, so we never looked back there prior to leaving. Big mistake. We arrived home to find that the new chairs we bought, still in their wrapping had been stolen. We called the hotel and the valet manager said Im currently with people checking out, I will have to call you back. Well continue to hold our breath...
This hotel is in a great location for shopping and restaurants. But so many things went wrong. Room service order was incomplete and the doormen were always busy talking to each other. We struggled to get our luggage up the stairs to the front door. No help at all. Not sure what a person in a wheelchair is supposed to do. The doormen rarely opened the door for us. The toilet paper in our bathroom is behind the toilet and I banged my arm every single time I reach for it. The whole experience did not feel like luxury.
The lobby, bar and restaurant were great although the hours for the restaurant were inconvenient. The rooms need attention. There was no note pads, outlets that didnt work, furniture that need repair. The elevators had multiple bulbs for the floors numbers out, doors were banged up. Not what I expect from RC
Stayed here Saturday night 5/22/21. Nice views and pretty clean. Not impressed with the service at all. The front desk acted like I did not have a reservation at first and then said there was a problem with my card that I had booked the room with. I asked them to re-run it which they reluctantly did (and it worked). The TV in the room did not work. I was busy and did not have enough time to tell them about it Saturday night. I also figured they would just have me change rooms, which I did not feel like dealing with. I politely told them the TV did not work when I dropped my keys off at the front desk on Sunday. They just said ok we will let someone know. Really? Not even going to give me an “our bad”? I also get that it’s an old place, but the room was really nothing special.I am honestly not one to complain at all, but I was just expecting a little more for the price. I will not be coming back. I have had way better service from basic budget hotel chains.
I had a very very poor experience. I arrived at ~3:30pm and appeared to have a fairly rookie check-in agent. It took almost 20 minutes to check me in, and in the meantime, the more senior agent had checked in 3 other parties. The most critical aspect of any stay as denoted in my booking profile is peace and quiet. I strongly prefer high floor rooms, away from the elevator, away from ice machines, away from housekeeping storage, away from frequently accessed stairwells (if applicable). I could care less about view or even the opulance of the room. I explained this to the rookie agent who checked me in and she struggled to find an available room for some reason and ultimately placed me in a room as I was rushed to get to a meeting. I quickly threw my items on the bed and ran out -- not to return until 11pm. At that time, I realized that not only was I immediately adjacent to the elevators, but also what appeared to be a housekeeping storage. It was too late too change my room and I was not of the appetite to do so at that time of night. And sure enough I was awoken a dozen or more times by various controllable noises from those adjacencies. And all morning, I started to actually time the knocking (sounds like someone was shutting a drawer -- a dull thump noise) almost every 5 minutes (unclear if the noise was coming from the elevator machinery or the housekeeping closet though). And on top of this, I dont believe I received my check-in reward for this level of stay and I had an important package that was delivered to the hotel that I was not notified of when checking in, nor during my brief stay (the shipping denotes it was received before I had checked in).Just a really really poor experience and I will never go back to that hotel and doubt strongly that I will revisit a Ritz anytime soon as the caliber has diminished by comparison to what I experienced in prior years.
As in many businesses today, labor shortages are creating challenges for hotels. Where service is critical, the strains are numerous. However, this hotel, where we have stayed many times in the past 20 years, is doing an admirable job trying to maintain its standard. We suspect that the success comes for the extra efforts of long time staff who epitomize the Ritz Carlton “ladies and gentlemen.” They understand the meaning of service and are proud of their hotel. It shows, even when things aren’t perfect. Newly hired staff seem to follow suit and that is all to the benefit of guests.
Staff was nice, but other than that there were many small details that added up to what seemed like problems at every turn. Every dish in our room service order had something wrong with it, overcooked steak, missing onions, incorrect salad completely, etc. In-room movie service was not working and could not be fixed. Room furniture is very banged up, thin layer of dust on EVERY surface, overall just poor upkeep.
We were really pampered throughout the entire stay at The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia. The hotel had a massively grand entrance and the overall decor was very impressive. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a larger room. Kids had fun participating at Ritz Kids scavenger hunt and each got a huge piece of delicious chocolate cake and credit for a movie. I had a little misunderstanding on how to use Amex Fine Hotels & Resort dining credit and every staff I consulted was proactively helping me to square everything away. Special thank you to Carolyn, who called me and follow up with me even after we had already checked out! The hotel was centrally located to many tourist spots and many of them are within walkable distance. All in all, we had a wonderful stay at The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia. If you find yourself in Philadelphia next time, this is the hotel you want to stay at. No doubt!
The staff was great. They were courteous, attentive and very welcoming. Your doorman was exceptional! We appreciated his service. The minus was housekeeping. We had to go search for towels and shower gel simply because they did not clean our room on our first day. I had to go to your front desk and request that they clean the room. The front desk rep asked me if I was going to be in the room which I found odd. Why would that stop the cleaning lady from coming to clean the room? I remember when there was upkeep twice a day. That is my only peeve.
Room is filthy and the staff is untrained. Hotel understaff. 2 times there are hairs in the food delivered to our room. Mopping cloth were left in the room after cleaning and staff was eating our trail mix. Nuts found on the floor and even in the hallway. Flies in the room. Design has flaw and bathroom are not up to code. Hard to use toilet and my knees bend to the wall! The waiter in the hotel restaurant have no sense of hospitality and definitely untrained.By far, the worst Ritz Carlton in the world.
Every single person I came into contact with at the hotel was above par. From checkin, to concierge, to bartenders to bellhops, everyone was very kind and helpful and polite. Rooms are very clean and welcoming and it’s so cool to know that the building used to be a bank!
Overall the hotel is wonderful this past day and September was wonderful however when I stayed in early August I was on the 25th for on the Broad Street side facing City Hall it was loud with unlicensed motorcycles driving out of control all through the evening. I was not able to sleep at all and felt terrible the next day for a meeting. When I just say the other day I was on the Chestnut Street side the room was delightful and I was able to get a good nights sleep.
My husband and I spent only 1 night away from our young daughter at the ritz in Philadelphia. We ordered room service for dinner and breakfast. It was amazing and just what we needed. My husband also got a massage in the morning at the spa. We left feeling very refreshed :)
We booked through Fine Hotels & Resorts through Amex. While we were told we could do an early check in at noon during reservation, we showed up around 4pm with two kids under 6 and had to wait an hour to get our room. The rooms are small, crowded and pretty disappointing (and this is after an upgrade). Overall regret the booking and should have looked elsewhere. Not a family friendly hotel by any means. Valet takes forever and the staff, with some exceptions, are neither very helpful nor friendly. Having stayed at the Ritz Carlton in Tysons Corner, VA the weekend before the differences were so much that even our 6 year old daughter noticed and commented on.
My experience at this hotel has been significantly worse than any other Ritz Carlton. The check in lady gave me incorrect information about the rooms. I had to ask to move rooms three times. I was asked to pay for the upgrade, while clearly says on my good status would be free. After the long process of choosing a room, I walk into my room with a huge brown stain on the carpet that seemed to be coffee and it was wet!!The AC made really loud noises at night and I had to pursue for a whole day the front dest and engineering to come to my room to fix it. No one let me know what the problem was and I had to ask front desk late night and switch rooms again. I also asked the front desk lady about the wifi and she said I can connect to the high speed internet for free given my membership status, yet I still found it charged on my invoice. To top it off, during my 7 day stay I wasn’t able to attend the Aqimero restaurant at the lounge because I was outside or it was closed, but I was apparently charged on my invoice for 50 dollars for 2 drinks. How can someone just bill my room without the hotel knowing it’s not me?!Just overall inconvenient.
First impression: No doorman to help with bags up front stairs and door. Front desk was off to the side and difficult to find. I was told breakfast was open at 8 on Saturday morning, but was not told there was a continental buffet open earlier. I waited one hour a for a breakfast sandwich (which for 20$ was not good) that I was late leaving to the airport and had to bag it. The accommodations were adequate. While the staff was soooooper friendly, I felt it was not RC standard of excellence.
The Ritz Carlton has always been a front runner for service, theirs was impeccable. However the standards in the bathroom did not live up to COVID-19 cleanliness. Upon check out because I did not notice it until the next morning I brought it to the attention of the front desk who said she would be taking care of my amenities, yet my card was still charged for all? That was disappointing.
Poor service, valet took 51 minutes to retrieve my vehicle. Room lacked toiletries and had a lunch bag with food from a previous guest. Called guest services and spoke with Jordan, who assured us both would be addressed, but nothing. Not the service I’ve come to appreciate from the Ritz Carlton brand. Unsatisfactory experience and I would not recommend this location to my friends and colleagues.
I am not usually one to complain about hotels – but after a very expensive and very disappointing stay at the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia last weekend, I am posting my first ever negative review. We have stayed at this hotel several times before the Marriott takeover, and have in general loved the special touch of a Ritz Carleton hotel. That is gone. Our 3 day/ 2 night stay kicked off with a surprise hefty $60/day valet fee – this hotel does not have a parking lot or a garage and doesn’t warn you that this fee is almost unavoidable (so make sure you include that extra fee into your calculations.)When we checked in, the desk clerk offered us an “upgrade” – a “free upgrade” – to a different room. She made it sound great, so we agreed. Instead of checking into a room on the 23rd floor, we checked into a room on the 8th floor. The room did have large windows, even if they looked a bit unsafe without any window guards. Our room faced City Hall which was nice — or so we thought.Several hours later the motorcycles began to circle City Hall, which our windows faced. The sound filled the room and made it impossible to even watch TV.Later on we found out that the hotel has a hard time renting those rooms for exactly this reason – so bravo Ritz!! you pulled a fast one on us and managed to charge us a premium rate for an obviously subpar room.So we gave up on TV and went to sleep, hoping earplugs would help. After my wife fell asleep, I noticed the motorcycle noise was louder on one side of the room and then noticed that one of the large windows was not sealed shut. With my wife asleep I couldn’t call hotel maintenance to the room, and at my age, I’m not climbing on a window sill to wrestle with a stuck window – so I spent half the night listening to motorcycles circle city hall. By morning I was exhausted.Leaving my wife asleep in the room, I went downstairs in search of coffee because therewas no coffeemaker in the room. The Ritz front desk informed me that there was no longer any free coffee in the lobby, and that the restaurant didn’t open for another hour. Later on I found out that the Ritz specifically advertises a coffeemaker in each room— it would have been nice if we had one of those in our “upgraded” rooms, or if the front desk staff would have thought to suggest making coffee in the room. When we packed up and moved to a different room – once again, there was no coffee maker in the room. There were more small disappointments, but Overall it felt like we were ripped off. This is a luxury hotel without the luxury. Everything in this hotel has a price tag on it, from the bottled water to the internet access. There are no amenities. We paid through the nose for everything, and everything felt cheap and cut rate. Even the front desk service. This is not the Ritz you might remember. We will never return to this hotel and if you are looking for a comfortable hotel to relax for the weekend, we suggest you look elsewhere!
We were in Philadelphia for my daughters graduation from Temple University. EVERYTHING from check-in to check-out to the valet service was PERFECT! The staff went out of their way to be friendly and made it a point to congratulate my daughter for her graduation. I reserved two rooms and the staff made sure they were connecting so it was like we had our own suite. The rooms were spotless and their was attention to every detail in making sure Covid protocol was followed. I cannot thank the staff for making our stay so memorable!
We have travelled to Philly and always stay at the Ritz ! We like the concierge floor because the concierge bar is beautiful and the view is spectacular! Now during covid, it is closed. The lobby is busteling with people, so make reservations if you want to eat in the restaurant/bar.Good room service, nice suprior room. Also the location is very good
While the location was convenient and the staff was very nice and thoughtful, this was the least fancy Ritz Ive ever been to. The furniture was scuffed and beat up. The key cards only worked half of the time, resulting in needing to have 5 with me at any point so maybe one would work. Room service has limited hours and is overpriced. Restaurant in lobby is a bar/lounge at best. No tablecloths or placemats on the table and none of the finesse I expect from a Ritz Carlton based on other experiences at other locations. This location cannot hold a candle to their previous location in Philadelphia.
Everything about the hotel is luxury. The staff are super helpful and polite. The building is unique, historic and beautiful. It’s marble columns and the atrium in the lobby is a high point. The valet Ole’ was wonderful in a busy area of the city. Our room was sumptuous, it looked out on Billy Penn and Independence Hall which was beautiful at night. We walked everywhere, everything was close to the hotel.
Room was great itself. However, the AC didnt work (which in August doesnt mix). When contacting the front desk, the options after maintenance couldnt resolve the issue was to change rooms. Had an unsolicited early wakeup call, with no apology from the staff who called. When these items were mentioned during checkout, they were dismissed.
Overall, I was very disappointed with the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia. Upon arrival, we were checked into a very dirty room. There was hair and garbage from previous guests all over the bathroom floor. The walls, curtains and carpet were stained and dirty. We reported this to the front desk and they moved us to another room. When we arrived at the new room, the bath mat in the bathroom was dirty and stained as if it was never changed out between guests. The carpet in the new room had crumbs and garbage all over it and appeared to not have been vacuumed. There was a 12 paint bubble in the ceiling over the bathtub leaking fluid. Just totally gross! I was so frustrated at this point that I found housekeeping working in a room across the hall and asked them to come over to our room to clean it as I was trying to settle my family in with my two small children. They did come over and they replaced the bath mat and vacuumed the carpet. The cleanliness and upkeep of this hotel is shocking considering that it is a Ritz-Carlton brand. I would not recommend spending the money to stay there in its current state.
Check in. Three people behind the desk. No one looked up when I arrived. Finally someone acknowledged me as the other two continued to look down at their computers. Im use to the staff in the hallways acknowledging a guest as you walked by. This did not happen. Again, not a big deal, but Not the Ritz way.Valet. Slow and not friendly. Both when I dropped the car off and picked it up, it was like we were putting them out. Not to mention it was a 30 minute wait for the car since they had two people working. AND, it was not that busy. I call this stay, A Death By A Thousand Cuts. Not one thing was bad, but when you add it all up, it was an very fair attempt at a five star hotel.
Relaxing afternoon!!From the warm welcome to the friendly goodbye I had the best day at the spa because of Angela at the front desk and Regina, my masseuse.I arrived to my appointment a little early so I enjoyed a glass of champagne in the relaxation lounge while I waited. Angela made sure I was comfortable and left me to relax with my champagne.Regina came to greet me so we could begin our session...You should know Regina is an absolutely empathic, professional and thorough masseuse. She has years of experience and her technique is very effective. I highly recommend booking with Regina!
This stay has not been the typical Ritz Carlton hospitality that we have experienced from other properties. Waiting for a waiter in a sparsely populated breakfast area, unenthusiastic reception agents and the doorman allowing us to exit the hotel without so much as an assistance to open the door with our hands full and with luggage. Not the typical Ritz Carlton experience.
The valet was so horrible that it set the whole tone of my stay. I had called the front desk before my arrival that I didn’t want to valet my car but I wanted to unload and check in. I was told I could leave my car for ten minutes and come inside and check in and it wouldn’t be a problem. As soon as I was walking the valet guy started yelling at me to move my car and told me I couldn’t check in. I was in such a rush and taken back since my luggage was unloaded, I was forced to valet. Then the room was underwhelming, there was a huge bug in the shower. Then we went to have dinner downstairs and the waitress made it very obvious she didn’t want to serve us and was giving us an attitude the whole time. Then the next morning I called a half house before checking out and ended up waiting an hour and a half for my car. I was extremely disappointed in my stay. Considering it was the ritz I had such high expectations. I was planning on making another reservation but I will not because of how bat my experience was.
Magnificent. Posh & luxurious. Will surely surpass your expectations. 5 star treatment, well appointed rooms, amazing location next to City Hall & within walking distance to Historic attractions and convention center.Delicious food and comfortable lounge. All you would expect from the Ritz Carlton
Overall the location and food throughout my trip were excellent. The only issue for me came from inconsistencies with staff on what benefits came from an FHR stay and being charged for purchases that should’ve been covered. A front desk agent had told me that my $100 property credit covered any purchases made at the hotel, upon checkout I was informed this was not the case and I would have to foot a $31 charge myself. While it isn’t a lot of money, I brought up that it was covered according to the front desk agent that had checked me in and according to the pamphlet I was given, and he brushed me off saying that wasn’t the case multiple times. Instead of arguing I decided to just let it go. It was a sour ending and unsuited for a luxury property.
We got the best massage from their spa it was well worth every second - such a gorgeous facility and the staff was superb they treated my daughters and I so wonderfully. If you need a place to unwind and relax this is the place to do it. You will love it and never want it to end
I love this hotel. The lobby is incredible. However, my room was the size of a closet and the bathroom was so small you couldn’t open the the door to the smaller room with the toilet without being all the way in the room with the sink and shutting the door to the bedroom. As a lifetime Bonvoy Platinum elite, it would have been nice to be put in a room that wasn’t the smallest and cheapest room available.
Small room, no turndown service. Took my own luggage out of the car, receptionist was a bit rude, waited over 30 mins for valet when checking out, again lifted my own suitcase into the car. Internet was not free (they shouldn’t be charging for this) and parking fee was expensive. Room was super clean and the bartender made amazing drinks so they get thumbs up for that. Restaurant was backed up on a Saturday night so they wouldn’t seat us for drinks-lots of tables had dirty dishes sitting for over an hour. Manager should have been bussing tables in my opinion! I don’t think I will return, comparing this to other Ritz Carltons. Really need to step up their customer service game.
The services at this hotel was horrible. For a really expensive hotel you would expect better service. Bell hops didn’t help us at all, the restaurant staff was so slow. Waited an hour for breakfast. The only good thing about this hotel was housekeeping which was really nice and the rooms were pretty.
This was an excellent stay for us. The employees were helpful and welcoming throughout our stay. I was able to visit family and enjoy the city I grew up in and love. The room was impeccable, comfortable, and our views w/William Penn atop City Hall had the curtains opened at all times. (We were referring to him as “Bill”) Convenient location to explore city. I walked to the Barnes & Rodin museums and easily accessed dining around the city. The Moët Chandon vending machine and former “train ticker” displaying messages at the lobby elevator were a fun twists! We will be back!
We needed a quick change of scenery and decided to leave NYC for Philly for some rest and relaxation. We had couple massages at the spa followed by a great dinner at a fine nearby eatery. Our room had an amazing view of City Hall and was comfy yet elegant. We had such a nice time and look forward to doing it again.
So after we experienced our house fire we went straight to the Ritz! They were so accommodating and gifted us a free breakfast. They were super nice and friendly!Love love the ritz. Food is bomb and their drinks are delicious! One of my favorite spots! Stayed here a couple times. Definitely recommend. Staff is friendly and their inside restaurants are delicious!
I was asked to provide my itinerary ahead of time which I did. We arrived at 10pm on a Thursday and no one was anywhere near the door to greet us or assist with luggage. We went inside and thought we were getting luggage assistance but that person was the valet parking person who again offered no assistance to find someone to assist with luggage.Friday we were out all day and when we returned our room had not been cleaned. When I called the front desk their response was not something like sorry we will take care of that immediately. It was simply we will call housekeeping with no assurances that it would be taken care of. I pressed for an assurance that it would be cleaned prior to our return at 9pm and the person repeated that they would call housekeeping. This was my first hotel stay in 14 months and perhaps covid is a factor. However, I have stayed at Ritz Carltons in the past and the Philadelphia Ritz is not up to the name and to the reputation that I thought they had.
I need a 2 part review, some things were 5 star, some 1.● Valet wrecked my rental car, at $60/ night plus $170 in tips● Noise alert, even 14th floor severe street noise, sirens, honks, music, motorcycle sounds, people screaming... you need music and noise canceling buds... even then I still woke several times due to fire trucks.● Carpet sticky, used socks, they got black● Maggie and Mimoza need a raise! :)● Bed was amazing and comfortable, pillows plush. The blanket was just right.● Had to call for extra bedding in sofa-bed, didnt get extra pillows requested prior to arrival● location and lobby incredible● They dont get the door for you like the Ritz in St Louis.● club lounge has 4 all you can eat nice meals a day, unlimited drinks, juice, alcoholic beverages - and the view is awesome● second bed in sofa was a disaster on comfort level, and it was stained. My son just returned from camp so we ok.● telephones work and guest services always answered quickly.● In room amenities and snacks were not fully refilled, we didnt need them due to club lounge, but still nice to see fully stocked.● Club concierge service was a huge help. I really appreciated getting my trip streamlined.● the breakfast chef at the club is a great cook. He was kind also. Its just eggs, but I enjoyed them.●bring your nice clothes. I was in leisure attire, but even in Tommy and Ralph Lauren I often felt under dressed. I was just in for a quick weekend though. I saw people get treated better or worse based on their clothes. I only bypassed this rule by being very open that I was a tired housewife and mom just getting my kid from summer camp.● you might see a few stars, dont bother them of course but its neat to nod and smile.● staff, valet, and security are all helpful and kind, despite my car problem. Big shout out to Maggie and Mimoza. They do their job with class and grace, even when some of the customers werent so kind.● I noticed valet drivers were turning tips into the head boss, I dont know if this is something that entices them to drive like daredevils or not, but I give tips to the person who earned it.● centrally located with a bit of a walk to all places, or better yet get a ride. Due to Delta 4 on the rise, we walked. There are a lot of homeless in between the Carlton and liberty bell. Take some ones.Overall I enjoyed my stay, but I believe if coming back through I will try another hotel. The noise at night and the rental car claim were a lot for me to overcome, thankful for the insurance. $800/ night, these shouldnt be things you struggle with. Room to room noise was more minimal, but the elevator shakes my tub when Im in the bath. Nothing they can do to fix that. I just think valet service could use a bit more discipline, thats the only change I see.Gorgeous place.
This is the second time that we are staying here for 4th of July and we hope to come here again! We are on the 23rd floor facing the city and we get to see so many fireworks going on at the same time! It is spectacular! The staff is friendly and helpful and the hotel room is extremely clean. I highly recommend this hotel!
The hotel is beautiful, the rooms lovely, and the view excellent - however, while staying in the Executive Suite, we were using the bathtub and were interrupted by both calls and someone at the door. I had to get out of the bath, soaked, to walk across the room to open the door only to be told by staff that my bath - which they claimed had to be overflowing (it was not) - was leaking into the room below. They spoke with the sort of certainty that leads me to believe this isnt a new problem. Considering the price of the room and the standard of the hotel, I just dont think thats the sort of thing you want to tell the person in the bath. If the Ritz knows they have pipes that leak when people take baths, they should address the leak. There was very little I could do about this...I should be able to use the bath I paid for...
I won’t be returning to this hotel. Car and music noise until 2am! There are a lot of race cars revving up their engines with modified mufflers outside the hotels. Also loud music kept me up until early morning. The pullout drawer for the Nepresso machine was falling apart. Poor maintenance. The worst Ritz I’ve been to so far.
I stayed in a Suite and for the extra money i paid to upgrade to this type of room, it just wasnt as grand as the pictures had depicted. I wanted a room on the 10th Floor, but they said one wasnt available, and i was provided with a room on the 7th Floor instead. Food was brought up to the rooms, and the guests would put the remains outside their room doors, and it wasnt cleared up by staff quickly enough. We would be standing waiting for the elevators and the smell of food remains would blanket the entire area.
Pass the Ritz Carlton Philadelphia and find another hotelMuch has changed in the 10 years since I last visited (and lived) in Philadelphia. Some of it for the better. Most of it not. The city is a mess. It has an uncomfortable lawless feel. From the motorcycles loudly and recklessly racing up and down Broad Street until 2:30 a.m., to the lack of any visible police in Center City, to aggressive panhandlers and general disorder from river to river. This isn’t the city I remember, enjoyed, worked and lived for many years. It’s never been perfect and always had attitude - that’s part of the charm. For this uncomfortable weekend visit we stayed at the Ritz Carlton. Again, a place I had good memories and looked forward to returning. We will not be coming back. In short, I do not recommend this hotel. It’s not a Ritz. It’s more like a Hampton Inn or a Holiday Inn. The only notable part of the Ritz is the building —it is gorgeous. The service was not up to Ritz Carlton standards. I’m not sure what all the people who seemed to be working there did. There were a couple folks who stood out for exceptional service but for the most part customer service was average at best and definitely not what you would expect for the nightly rate. There was no attention to detail and that feeling of personal service you can enjoy at many Ritz properties. For example, when we arrived there was no bellman or other team member to greet us, offer to help with the luggage or point us to the front desk. We’re more than capable to schlep our bags and did. It’s just unusual not to be greeted and offered this service. Same for taking luggage to the room. The room was small. It overlooked City Hall. We enjoyed what felt like a front row seat for a very loud motorcycle race that lasted until 2:30 a.m. Sunday. It was truly bizarre and apparently commonplace. The water in the bathroom sink was different every time we turned the handle. Sometimes cold. Sometimes hot. Sometimes scalding hot. No rhyme or reason. The shower wasn’t as bad but that was due in part to the ultra low water pressure. The room felt damp. Whoever made the bed needs a lesson on making a bed.The lobby restaurant service was spotty. There was a woman tending bar - seemed like her first or second day. She was amazing. So much so I witnessed a co-worker tell her she was doing it wrong. Bizarre. Sunday morning breakfast service was spotty. Paul greeted us and said he would be assisting our server. Then we never saw Paul again and had to beg for some more coffee.Another note about the lobby restaurant. Putting last night’s guacamole on toast with a couple eggs and some green garnish isn’t really avocado toast. Again - not the expected Ritz Carlton standard.Bottom line. There are other places to stay in Philadelphia - if you must go at all. The hotel has none of the normal or otherwise expected Ritz Carlton amenities and service. The property needs an overhaul on operations and staffing. Besides that, I would seriously consider postponing a visit until the city gets it’s act together.
My son and I stayed here for a couple of days in early March. While we understand all of the necessary Covid protocols that need to be in place at this time, the visit was clunky and challenging in terms of meals and service. The only available breakfast was room service which was slow. The rooms are clean but have the feel of a JW Marriott, not a Ritz Carlton. No coffee in the rooms at this time. If you are visiting on a Sunday or Monday, like we were, do not expect to be able to eat in the lobby. We were relegated to room service in a small room. The valet service was slow as well. Perhaps they are just understaffed at this time.
We felt very safe staying at The Ritz Carlton. Our room was very clean and we were supplied with wipes . My husband and myself enjoyed room service in the morning. The hotel. Restaurant and elevators are all set up for social distancing . It was a very nice get away and I hope to return again soon.
Let me begin this review by saying I love Ritz Carlton Hotels and have visited many over the years. The lobby of this hotel is both beautiful and relaxing. The service was great; exactly what one expects from a Ritz. Everyone from the valet to the front desk to room service were a pleasure. The lobby area and main bathrooms could use some TLC but over all the atmosphere is grand and welcoming. My main complaint is that they charged $68 a bottle for a chardonnay that costs $4.99 (Canyon Oaks) in the State Store. Come on...that is ridiculous! With the new Four Seasons - the Ritz needs to up their game.
We stayed at the property July 2021 for weekend trip to Philly. It is a beautiful well located property. The service is really struggling and the food isn’t very good, especially for a food town like Philly. The place is terribly understaffed due to post Covid hiring issues. The staff that are there are bending over backwards to make due, but do not expect the normal RC service for the next year (hopefully management can get it fixed.)
Nice room, great location. Not being able to meet friends / family in lobby because space is devoted to restaurant is not acceptable. Ice machine inoperable. Waiting for a credit to appear on credit card because the charge that was posted cannot be correct. Disappointed.
Overall it was a beautiful hotel. The room service was quick and efficient. The staff was very courteous and complied with all my wishes. I want to give a shout out to Bobby our waiter downstairs who gave us a great Italian restaurant to try while yours was closed. All in all a terrific stay
I recently stayed here to celebrate a milestone in my health and was surprised by the level of care that was shown. I received a gift for which I will forever be grateful. I visit Philadelphia about 4 or 5 times a year and usually stay at other Marriot hotels, but no more. My go-to hotel for Philadelphia is now the Ritz Carlton. Great staff all around. Looking forward to my next stay there.
We experienced service problems throughout our visit. A request for a robe was not filled. Two visits to the restaurant revealed an overwhelmed staff. At breakfast, no one said hello for over 20 minutes. Cocktails the night before were similarly frenzied even though it wasnt crowded. A request for a bellman was lost, etc.
Excellent customer service. Splurged on a room for myself and my (pregnant) sis when she came up to visit. We loved our check-in & check-out interactions with Madeline. She is s gem! Not to mention we received a room upgrade with the BEST wrap around view of city hall and the Delaware river. We ended the stay with a massage at the spa. Will stay again!
I would not recommend the Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia to anyone who desires basic service. I requested help with multiple, heavy bags and was not given any assistance despite the fact that four employees saw my family and me on the sidewalk with bags. With no ramp outside the hotel, we had to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs in pure sight of these employees, none of whom offered to help us. When I complained to the front desk, the manager, Dave, said he would look into the situation and get back to me as to why this happened but no one called me. There were no other guests outside who were being assisted so it was not a busy time for the hotel. DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. There are plenty of other top quality hotels in Philadelphia. This hotel does not deserve anyones business.
No fridges in room and it took over 45 minutes to get a fridge sent to our room. Valet took over 20 minutes to get our car. No one helped me and my 8 week old baby to get out the lobby door and down the front stairs so I ended up dragging a baby and bags all on my own. Overall service was exceedingly disappointing.
Expected a lot more from the Ritz. This place is just an average three star hotel not like the Ritz hotels I have been to in Florida and California. No one to greet you at the front door, or to open the front door, or take your luggage. Over the cross of three days noticed staff hiding on the side of the building looking at their cell phones.
This is not a Ritz Carlton, it is just a basic Marriott. Ive stayed in equally nice Marriotts next to airports. For the money, dont bother. Great location, nice view in certain rooms. Room Service served in plastic containers like we ordered from the corner store was icing on the cake of a disappointing stay. They charge Ritz Carlton prices for Bonvoy Marriott accomodations.
We went to the restaurant inside the restaurant with a family of 6, and our food came 80+ minutes after we put in our order. When I asked the server for an update, she didn’t have a great attitude about it either. After I asked for an update the second time, she threatened to cancel our food order entirely. Awful service, not what I would expect of a holiday inn, much less a 5 star hotel.
Terrible experience.Valet never available as they were employees of a local parking garage. They ate in my brand new vehicle and left food stains on center console.Three different rooms to move between on checking in as they were dirty or not a suite as Id paid for. Finally, after hours and missing dinner reservations, placed in a room where all you heard all night was the elevator.Absolutely worse experience at a Ritz-Carlton facility ever. Cant believe Ritz-Carlton name could be used for this experience. Can think of some motels where youd have a better experience and cleaner rooms.
This pat weekend my husband and I stayed here for our anniversary and I was very surprised with the experience. The room was not completely cleaned and there was mold in the bathroom and a leak from the ceiling. The bed was very uncomfortable as well as the pillows. My husband and very bad asthma and I am allergic to mold therefore we coughed most of the night. I would recommend staying if here if you are trying to impress someone. The service on the other hand from the staff was very pleasant.
Horrendous customer service. Apparently the Ritz does not welcome everyone to the hotel or treat everyone as valued guests...not even their own guests! Our group of 5 hotel guests asked if we could sit at the bar and watch a sporting event. Although the majority of the area was empty, we were told all tables and couches a re reserved & we could not be accommodated. It was not until my colleague said we would like to spend money at the bar, that we were begrudgingly seated behind the bar. Asking to change the channel from TNT to a sporting event also was a HUGE inconvenience for the staff and would need to get a managers approval as the bartender told us, Oh the Ritz is a sports bar now?? We ignored the comment & ordered our highly over-priced beverages. When we asked if we could have separate checks we were told by the manager/waitress, We dont do separate checks here in an uncalled for, snarky tone. A simple no, Im sorry would have sufficed. Again we ignored the rude staff and sub-par Ritz customer service and continued to watch the game...that was until the bartender came over and changed the channel to a different sporting event without speaking to us or even acknowledging we were still watching the game. When asked why he changed the channel, he said someone on the other side of the bar wanted a different game on this TV & another game on a different TV. So apparently the Ritz IS a sports bar, but only for certain individuals. We decided to leave the bar and not deal with the snarky, rude, unprofessional staff; however, the bartender had to get one last jab in and said, I hope you dont get COVID. RUDE!! We are paying customers, who left you a 25% tip - despite your unprofessional, rude, despicable behavior & you have the audacity to say that to us?!? Thank you Jordan, front desk manager, for your understanding & professionalism. Thank you to the bar staff for ruining our stay, and demonstrating to your employer just how unprofessional, rude, and damaging you are to the Ritz reputation.
I really do have to comment about the breakfast. I ordered avocado on toast, my favorite thing to eat at home. What arrived was shop bought guacamole on fried bread and the guacamole tasted awful. The only thing fresh about it was the arugula on top of it. I refuse to believe the avocado was fresh. Paid over $40 for something I make in 5 mins with fresh ingredients at home that tastes 1000 times better. Its hard to ruin avocado. So disappointing. My husbands $40 breakfast was almost as bad. He ordered oats. This was literally cold cooked oats given to him in a ball jar with a lid and a spoon. Come on Ritz Carlton, is this the best you can do? I admit we didnt complain at the time because we didnt want to offend the so lovely wait staff. We were literally the only people having breakfast. Theres a pandemic on I know, but maybe that said something.
I love the Ritz Carlton brand and am rarely disappointed in their properties and while this was absolutely NOT any fault of their own I cannot stay there again until Philly does something about the street bike groups roaring up and down the streets (and sidewalks !) until 2-3am. I feel certain I am not the only one who they kept up at night.
Im a Marriott lifetime Titanium. Worst experience Ive ever had in a Marriott. I came back to my room at night to find it was not cleaned. The front deck was rude and offered nothing. I will not come back to this hotel. I cannot say enough how rude the staff is here. Do not stay here.
The RC Philadelphia has a very friendly staff, super clean rooms and common areas, and a wonderful smell throughout the lobby - but the on-site restaurant and room service is, at best, mediocre. I was in town for work and due to my schedule and a snowstorm, I had to eat on-site four times. The room service was cold and soggy, and even in the dining room, the menu options were lackluster (no salad choices & very little vegetables) and the dishes just lacked any kind of flair or creativity. Not something youll find at other RCs around the world, where Ive often said, The is the best____ Ive ever tasted! I did find a few neighborhood options that were excellent on the nights I had time to go out. Barbuzza and The Dandelion were wonderful, so my advice is to venture off-site for dining, if you can.
The staff is just so amazing and polite there. I had the best time there, I will never stay at another hotel when I have to go to Philadelphia. My room was beyond what I expected and the room service was awesome, the food was so good. Hands down the greatest hotel ever.
Stayed at a lovely suite on the club floor while my husband was having dental surgery . The service in the lounge was excellent . Everyone was very attentive yo our special needs especially to the lovely full time woman who is the supervisor of the club lounge. She made sure my husband had soup because he was only able to eat soup and very soft foodsThe supervisor of housekeeping was very friendly and attentive. She brought us up a microwave and refrigerator and even brought us up some soup from the kitchen.Everyone in the hotel couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful .The view was magnificent . The bedding was very comfy and the bath toiletries, the best .I would highly recommend this hotel
Ritz Philly was an incredible stay. Virtual check in was easy. Bed was perfect. Old time charm hotel. Room service and fees very expensive, no refrigerator, or microwave though. Jordan front desk agent, Nerdil in food service, and Cheick at welcome point were all inviting! Explained to Carolyn that the coffee was cold, she got me the most perfect cup to go! Service here and health care discount code gave it a 5 star review.
1. Check-in: Registration desk host could not be heard due to the loudness of the bar on a Friday night.2. Cold water: Was not working. Had to call service person.3. Sink: Huge crack running across 1/3 of sink.4. Ceiling: Water stain in the ceiling.5. Breakfast menu: Options were limited. Could not order a custom egg white omelette.
I have never been treated so poorly at a hotel bar in my entire life. Despite being a guest at the Ritz, the bar staff was rude, dismissive, and flippant when we walked in and asked for a table. We were told all tables were reserved despite there being only a handful of people in the restaurant. After several requests, we were seated at a table behind the bar. We were then given attitude when we asked to change the TV station to an ongoing sporting event. The bartender in fact said, “apparently it’s a sport bar at the Ritz now.” We ignored the comment, kept to ourselves, and spent a decent amount of money on drinks. Including a $24 margarita in a small rocks glass that was awful. Before the game was over, the same bartender came over and changed the channel to a different sporting event without asking the group who had asked to watch the game to begin with. When he was called on it, he told us someone else had asked that a different game be put on the TV. Apparently, our initial request was not as unusual as he made it seem. When I called him on his actions he got defensive. When I told him we were going to leave instead, he told us “I hope you don’t catch COVID.” The issue was raised with Jordan, the manager at the front desk, who was extremely apologetic and empathetic. However, by then the evening was ruined. The group of guests I was with were left to feel like 2nd class citizens despite staying at a hotel that normally treats you like royalty. I am so incredibly disappointed and upset by the experience we had. I will not be staying here again.
We are in town to celebrate a special occasion. I’ve read many good reviews about this hotel and I wanted to love it. I’m a platinum elite with Marriott and I reached out beforehand to let guest relations know about the special occasion. They were great (especially Demetrius!)The frustrating part was checkin. Not friendly at all. Not welcoming. Not personable. No upgrade because hotel was full. No room ready for us but every other guest got a room when they showed up. Gorgeous hotel with no friendly or nice front desk staff :(When our room wasn’t ready, any five star hotel in the world would tell us to hang out in the lobby or lounge etc , but they said we can’t unless we buy something, so we had to leave hotel. It was FREEZING outside , wind chill of 15 degrees. The hotel is beautiful but we felt no personality. Very bleh. Outside of the US all guests are treated well at Marriott properties , here it felt like we weren’t spending enough money to be treated with respect. Kinda frustrating, especially as a platinum elite. All we got was bonus points, even no welcome drink while we waited
We expected way more than what we received while staying with the Ritz-Carlton. Upon entering our room we noticed that the top sheet on the bed had a hole in it, paint on the wall was peeling off, and the air vent was covered with dust. Moreover, both outlets next to the bed were broken. Secondly, we called down to the front desk to ask if free wifi was available and they told us yes, only to find that we were charged for using it during our stay here. Thirdly, we retrieved our car from the valet services only to arrive at our destination (over an hour away) and realize they gave us the wrong key to our car (the car has push to start so we were able to drive all the way to our destination). Lastly, we were excited to try breakfast in the restaurant in the lobby only to stand waiting for someone to help us for 25 minutes (keep in mind every single table was open) to seat us. Also keep in mind this was a Sunday morning, not a random day of the week, and no one was willing to assist us. We then proceeded order three different options on the menu until we found one that was not out of stock. Overall, we expected more from the highest end hotel in the city and were very disappointed.
I come to The Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia every December with a few close friends for our annual Christmas in the City getaway. This hotel just knocks it out of the park in terms of beauty, service, cleanliness, friendliness and relaxation. Its such a breathtaking hotel from the moment that you walk into the grand atrium. The location is the best if you are looking for shopping, the theater, ice skating, great restaurants/pubs and everything in between. I cant give enough praise for such a beautiful hotel and the hotel staff. The service is impeccable! If you are looking for an unforgettable memory, I recommend this hotel for your stay. It rates well beyond a 5 star luxury hotel in my opinion. Everyone should experience staying there at least once, but I have to warn you... one stat will never be enough for you!
The lighting in the room was minimal. Although there was an overhead light in the hallway, the bedroom only had two small lights next to the bed, which was not sufficient. Additionally, the phone indicated it was low on battery so I couldnt leave a wake-up call as a backup. I went to guest services who said someone would change the phone but no one came. Eventually, I was able to leave a wake-up call, but when it went off, I couldnt answer it.
I was traveling with my wife and son so I needed a room with two beds. This was my first time staying at this property. No one mentioned when I booked the room or when I checked in that the beds were not Queen size. The bed was not comfortable and could not accommodate two adults. As a frequent traveler and a Titanium Elite member, I called the hotel prior to my arrival and asked about the Concierge Lounge hours and availability. No one mentioned ever that it is a small lounge and there is a $150.00 charge to use the lounge??!! I was only staying one night. I arrived on Saturday and was checking out on Sunday. All I wanted was a Banana or a bagel and a cup of Coffee Sunday morning. Didnt really think that was worth $150.00! Absurd policy, poor communication, no explanation when I called prior to my visit or when I checked in at the front desk. You really need to offer a Concierge Lounge that is similar to other properties and hopefully upgraded in what they offer because you are staying at a Ritz and not a Fairfield Inn! I would rather stay at a Fairfield or the full service Marriott, than the Ritz in Philly after the experience I had. I ordered room service and received a carafe of cold not even luke warm coffee. The guest room was tiny as were the beds.
Stayed here for nearly 6 weeks - wonderful hotel with great in room dining and cocktails downstairs. The gym was under construction- but after construction also it was modest onlyThe staff is very supportive, and they often used to accommodate requests.Do try the beef/ classic burger. The chocolate cake is not up to mark. Again the drinks exceptional as per Philly standards, do try them
This is a great hotel that provided a great memory for my wife and I. The problem is one of value, and the expectations for a level of service at this price point.Firstly the architecture is absolutely amazing and the location in the city is unbeatable. That comes with the understandable tradeoff of limited accessibility by car, and reliance on valet -- but youre staying at the Ritz, of course youll valet. The attention to architectural detail and decor extends all throughout the hotel, and the room was very well done. Comfort was mostly excellent for myself, however my wife had issues with the large vertical size of the pillows. I was rather surprised the hotel didnt have a pillow menu, at this price level that is getting fairly common, so it took until the 2nd night that the hotel gave us an alternate non-feather that seemed to work better. The biggest issue of comfort though was the water. For our entire 1st day, there was no hot water, which is almost unfathomable at a hotel like this. I fully understand it is an older, tall building with many guests and it could be possible to overwhelm a heating system, but for the length of how long it was down its just not acceptable.Id still recommend the hotel for a nice getaway or for an event, I just feel like it wasnt as good value for the money as it had the potential to be.
Our stay was spectacular. The hotel is amazing and the service was excellent. This was not our first stay the Ritz Philadelphia but every time we go its like a new experience for us. Ellen Metro who is the Director of Guest Relations there was absolutely unbelievable! The Ritz is lucky to have her as an employee. She provided my daughters with a welcome bag full of goodies and she was able to get us an upgrade while we were waiting for our room. She followed up with phone calls to ensure we were happy with everything too. Overall she really took care of business! You have gained life time customers!
Our stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Philadelphia was outstanding from beginning to end. From check in to check out Brittany at the front desk took great care of my wife and I to make our trip special and our stay memorable, she was simply amazing. The hotel was a bit hectic at check-in but she handled it professionally and got us into our suite in short order. As for the rooms and the property itself, everything is fantastic. The history of the building shows through even with the modern updates to the rooms layouts. Truly a great hotel stay, and worth a return trip for my wife and I down the road. Special thanks again to Brittany!

2022-06-23Dont forget to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any resort. This site will compare countless booking websites and typically will have prices much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This resort is one of the highest rated in this area. Ive been coming here for a long time. If you decide to stay here you for sure will love it Im sure!Amazing service. Recently stayed one night for my wifes birthday, and we had a mixup with our reservation. Long story short, The Ritz gave us a complimentary upgrade to a nicer suite after hearing our struggles. Great place, Great Service, and they have a high attention to detail.

2022-06-27I’m shocked that this property is still running under the Ritz-Carlton brand in the condition it is. I am limiting my feedback to only things that CAN be immediately addressed by hotel management (and shows that they have wholeheartedly failed to perform their job):1- Rooms: peeling wallpaper, condensation stains near the AC vent, broken/loosely put together nightstands, no turndown service, flat out dirty room. There were such thick dust spots on the bed frame that I’m led to believe that the room was not properly cleaned for months. Disgusting. I wish I could add a picture to this review (I asked to change rooms once and the second room was in the same condition).2- Service: no acknowledgement of Marriott status/upgrades/benefits during check-in, doorman was 9 out 10 times chit chatting or not around to greet/open doors/help with luggage.Based on the numerous reviews (which I failed to read before coming), the feedback above is not news to management. So my assumption is that they simply don’t care (wonders of the tight job market?).I’m refraining from commenting on how dated the rooms are as the local management relies on corporate to carry on a complete property overhaul. But as I pointed out earlier, all specific service and room feedback can be addressed locally.Fellow business (and leisure) travelers: if you’re looking for a 5 star hotel, go to the Four Seasons. This hotel is simply a Marriott-brand 3* establishment with the Ritz name.PS: the lobby is nice, though.

2022-02-06The positives are super nice staff… with that said, our room was dirty when we arrived. Glass tables covered with grease marks. Ceiling tiles with yellow who knows what water stains. Wires and cords hanging all over the place. Did I mention this was a one bedroom suite?? I can only imagine what a standard room looks like. I cannot believe this is considered a luxury hotel. Super disappointed! This hotel needs a major makeover before classifying themselves as a high end hotel.

2022-01-15I have stayed at this property multiple times for business and overall the service is good and attentive. One issue however which knocks a star off is the consistency of the valet and the time it takes to retrieve the car. They utilize a garage around the block and I think the compounds the wait times. In any event request your call early if you need it! The hotel bar and lobby are beautiful, but definitely have been effected by the slow down resultant of Covid. Overall a great property and consistent.

2022-04-02Service at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia is on the decline, no one to retrieve our bags curbside, we drug them in, up the steps, and no one there to open the doors. I was there to celebrate a birthday and anniversary which I detailed on my reservation, no mention of it during our stay, and nothing waiting for us. I tipped the front desk attendant $20 for an upgraded room and we just received a regular room, even as a Marriott Bonvoy gold member. When checking out, we carried our bags curbside, again no one there to hold the doors, and the valet barked at me to give him ticket before turning over the keys to me. I personally loaded the bags in the trunk, and we were off. Thank goodness. Very, very disappointed with this 5 star hotel.

2022-03-21I felt that this was a three star stay at a five star price.I was unimpressed and underwhelmed. To me, what denotes a five star stay is the details and our room just felt very outdated and dilapidated. We had a cabinet that was broken with a door skewed and ajar, the clock wasnt set to the correct time, the iron had rusted spots. Though we had a double room, there was one mediocre robe and the same toilet paper you might find in a gas station bathroom. The lobby was beautiful and I enjoyed the drinks we ordered in the hotel restaurant. However, I also ordered the Bone In Filet Mignon and felt it was a waste. TBH- I have had better steaks for half the price at chain restaurants and this one was nothing to write home about. I just didnt feel the quality was where it needed to be for the price point. We had additional friends joining us and asked if we could move to the couch (this was at like 4:30 so the restaurant was still empty) and were told it was only for large parties. However, throughout the night we saw multiple parties the same size as ours, get seated there which we found interesting...We got room service the following morning and it was adequate, but not exceptional. If youre looking for a five star experience, I would advise you to look elsewhere.

2022-05-21So you would think the Ritz-Carlton would have Supreme services... No services sucked rooms not clean, and if you Valet park it takes so long to get car....we almost missed a important event. It took like an hour for them to retrieve car...Best bet is to choose another hotel...thank me later!!

2021-10-19Loved the Club Lounge. Our room was excellent. Very comfortable bed, except the pillows. Those were a little soft. Room service was above average for a hotel. The staff in the Club Lounge was the best staff we have had in any of the RCs. We loved the atmosphere of it and the exclusivity of the 30th floor. Lobby bar / Aqumero was nice, although the food was only ok, and the drink selections were pretty generic. Hotel was super clean. Staff was super friendly and helpful. we will never stay anywhere else next time we visit the City of Brotherly Love. I just wish the Eagles had beat the Bucs.

2022-03-05My wife son and I stayed at the Philadelphia ritz for one night while visiting friends. The experience was underwhelming and quality of the finishes and service inconsistent with the price point. I get it: find good staff is hard post pandemic but that doesnt excuse for sub par service and not properly cleaning the rooms. When I called for some extra shampoo it never arrived. The batteries on the flashlight in the bedside table were empty and the carpet looked like it had been there since the 80s.
