Definitely not a true Community Center... priced for lower/upper middle class people. The Kroc has lost its edge that it had the first few years when it opened. But if you want a clean, safe place without all the other BS... this is the place for you. PLEASE GET MORE FREE WEIGHT MACHINES!!!!
Loved the experience, the staff was very friendly as well as helpful. Beautiful play n fun for the whole family. Basketball 🏀 gym for the younger an older kids. Swimming pool 🏊 was amazing for adults and children. I havent been over the whole center only for the tour. The football 🏈 field was big and beautiful I can go on and on about this place you just have to go yourself. I hope this helps 🙂
Friendly and helpful staff. I like the fact that it’s always someone cleaning and keeping the place up to par. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Enjoy the programs in speakers Deborah by health tips and information to the members. Very enjoyable experience.
This is a wonderful inclusive place. i work out in the gym and swim in the pool with people of all ages, body sizes, and ethnicities. I never have to feel self conscious in the gym because of the wide variety of body types and fitness levels. A truly wonderful atmosphere. The physical space is also lovely and well maintained.
This is really the best facility of its type. It is always maintained flawlessly, the staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Depending on how you define it there are between 2 and 4 pools (2 of them are connected, so you may call it one, and one if very small so you may not count it).A big, big gym with lots of equipment, basketball, all sorts of classes.Really just a great place.
I have been a member on and off for 5 years now and I must say that my spirit is lifted EVERYTIME I come in. Whether I am settling my account or taking a fitness class- I feel welcomed and surrounded by positive energy each and every time. The environment and staff are friendly, helpful and encouraging. I would highly recommend this place for children and adults to be inspired to meet their fitness and development goals.
Very clean and safe environment they offer so much with your membership. They have a gym which you can play basketball. A outdoor track, play ground for the kids, indoor pool, and plenty of workout equipment. They also offer different class if such as yoga, aqua aerobics, fitness for kids etc.
My husband attend this gym and I just ask to use the ladies room I was denied the bathroom until 1 o’clock security was nice a women came out NO NO so unprofessional never again will I return and my husband has not been back staff has been on a uproar you can’t ask questions without someone not on the write page everybody answers are different.
To have so many members the machines should be kept up, in working order. I love going to the center, I love my workout and the people that I workout with amen. The trainers are excellent, and show you respect and are not afraid to what you need to know to work on peace.
I mostly swim at the Kroc Center. The pools are warm water and kept very clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Kroc has 2 exercise machine areas, and a system where you can keep track of your progress. There is also a snack bar that has a nice seating area. It offers hot and cold sandwiches, salads, soup, and beverages. In addition, many free-of-charge classes in plates, yoga, Aquacise and many others are offered. The Kroc Center also has a day care center, although I dont know the cost. The monthly fee at the Kroc Center is is a bargain for what you get.
This review is about management and facilities maintenance. The dirty - locker rooms constantly have mold and management and facilities are slow to make repairs. The second floor water fountain has been out all summer. Something about some part missing which makes no sense. I have heard many complaints about this management and prehaps because they serve a diverse and low income community. Dont want to believe that but the evidence is there. The best thing about the Kroc Center is the competition pool.
I LOVED this place for the gym and all of the amenities they have to offer the guests. I find this place very clean and a peaceful place to work out and enjoy your me time, or time with the family. I feel bad to have to change my review to a 1 star, because i really enjoyed my time here. I enjoyed it so much, i decided to have a party here. Without bashing this facility, all I am going to say is it overpriced for the serviced provided. If you want to have a small birthday party for 1 year old or 2 year old... or a or any small event / gathering like a baby shower or celebration, it is superbly overpriced. Even with the member discount. You are charged to a $35 fee to ADD services to your party. Yes you have to pay them $35 to give them more money. So crazy! You are also not allowed to bring any outside furniture, or electrical equipment like a laptop or a radio. You have to rent their equipment which cost $306 for a minimum of 2 hours. These prices are ridiculous for a private intimate birthday party. You will easily spend $800-$1000 dollars for a small private event here. You will get $250 back if you leave the place in the way you found it with no damages. But i think it is absurd to pay $306 just to play a CD or some kind of music. This is for music/audio ONLY!!! once you add $250 deposit, $450 for the space, and additional things you need like a laptop or audio (music) your looking at 800,900, or 1,000 dollars. these prices are not good for neighborhood residents looking to have a nice party for their kids. These prices are more for like organizations, big companies, and organizations. For this i give a 1star. For this to be a place for giving back to the community, it needs to be a different charge from organization and companies who want throw a party, rather then a small family party for a 2 year old.Besides the event planning with this place, it is OVERALL beautiful and an amazing place to work out and attend classes. I never had an issue with the workers there. everyone was ALWAYS nice to me. But events here in a small room of 30 or 60 guest cost wayyyyyyy too much. Anyone spending $500 or more for a small party should be able to bring their own music. NOT a DJ guys. Just a small radio with a CD player cost $306 for 2 hour use.
I came to a health expo focused on dietary changes. Retrain my palate. Chef Courtney taught me how to do it.Then Chef Judy showed us how to make a quinoa slider. It was delicious. While there I observed that the staff is awesome, so friendly and helpful. I also noticed the Kroc Center has a lot of activities to offer.
A very clean and state of the art facility. Between classes, the gym, basketball courts, the pools, and the garden, you can fill your schedule with activities. My only gripe is that classes can frequently change or cancel last minute without any notification. They have a FB page and text message notifications but fail to utilize them properly. Management doesnt respond to this feedback either.
One older white guy at th front desk tries his best to seem welcoming but not hardly. Its actually so bad to almost want to say something else that i believe about him but its not the way i was raised. But about the center, its been excellent being a member for the last 6 months.
This review is for the Early Childcare Education Center within the Kroc Center. The one star because management is terrible. Louis Smith, Elizabeth Massas, and Christina Cruz are responsible for running the Center. My personal experience is that because of these three and their need to make arbitrary rules my husband was forced to miss work and a day of pay. Recently the Center implemented a rule that no one can enter after 9:00. In fact they lock the door and turn off key fob entry. Because of a potty training two year old and unforeseen traffic my husband arrived at 9:02. He was greeted by Christina who told him he must have a doctors note to enter. Elizabeth also confronted him saying “a rule is a rule”. Their complete lack of humanity caused my husband to miss a full day of work and a full day of pay. Louise replied to our complaint saying that parents are “usually shocked by the rule” the first time it effects them and there was nothing she would do to help us. Look for a childcare that is in the business of helping families. The management of this childcare is not representing the mission of the Salvation Army. They are hindering with the livelihood of families.
I came here a million times it’s amazing so quiet and clean it has everything you could think of.A(n) indoor swimming pool a gym a a playground basketball🏀 courts an auditorium a food court 🍽🥤locker rooms family locker rooms which has a shower🚿 a toilet🚽 a sink🚰 and a baby changing table the swimming pool also has a big slide and the other half of the pool is for little kids which also has a baby slide and you could use pool noodles and balls 🏐for free. This place is amazing you could also get season passes. It is amazing it’s so much fun!!!!
I had a fun experience first the monthly rate is pretty cheap which is a plus for all the gym offers the employees were helpful and very patient the gym is clean the excising equipment are good and they have instrunctor in case you don’t know how to use a machine the pools are fantastic kids loved it I had fun and there basket ball gym is full of all ages there a field out side to play soccer or to run track so take it from me it a perfect gym oh and I forgot to mention you can also come a praise the lord here also amen to that
Reading everybody’s review because I had a situation with one of the guy lifeguards here on the 4th of August , and I asked the security guard how do I write a complaint about it . The security guard helped me out and gave me a paper to write down my complaint and gave me the operation directors number to call about my complaint because I felt like I was being harassed by this lifeguard every time I went to the center . (I only really use the center for the pool because I am 7 months pregnant ) I was call inappropriate names by this guard and kinda got into a loud dispute with him because he wanted me to take off my coverup (which I wasn’t even in the pool yet ) so that’s why I wrote the complaint , when I did write my complaint .... TODAY August 7th ,2018 I received a letter in the mail staying that I am no longer a member because I THREATEN A STAFF MEMEBER ; I’m am a little upset by this because I didn’t threaten anyone and don’t think I should be the one kicked out . What much harm could I do to someone , especially a man ? I just don’t understand and want answers .I read a lot of different people reviews and the only BAD thing people said was the staff being nicer to people . I AGREE with that ; DEEPLY
The staff working inside the Kroc is great but some of the Kroc has some staff that has changed for the worst. I am a disabled with a daughter that had been a member for 4 years my daughter grew up with some the kid in the Kroc from community like a family. Now you get treated like an outcast and direspected. I had serious car accident stopped in to see if my daughter could her friends and take care the membership because I was injured. To get turned away with direspected from a lady at the front desk. That is why my daughter wanted to stop coming to the Kroc center because of the way people are being treated the lady constantly harassed me when I come in the gym. She may just seen me go to my car because forgot something but she will still stop me
The kroc center is the best thing i ever been two its not like those tore down crappy rec centers around ur niegbor hood they have lots of sports and activites and there pool is like a amusement park that are all free if u have a membership and if ur thinking about joining ask about the scholarships it could save u tons of money😉

2022-06-17I really liked this place when I first signed up. I come exclusively for the pool and pay full price for membership. However, they are struggling with hiring lifeguards right now (which isnt necessarily their fault, thats a problem everywhere right now) so the pool schedule is restricted and constantly changing. Plus, guest passes are back which means the pool is basically packed and unusable in the summer. I wish they would implement member only hours in the evening. I work full time and can only come after work. They have already reduced their after work pool hours and Im at the point where Im questioning whether a membership is worth it with these pool restrictions and how packed it is. Also, dont particularly care for the pool staff, they can be kind of nasty sometimes. Otherwise, this place is fine, just hoping that they are able to make some adjustments before I have to make the decision to cancel due to these issues.

2022-03-03The customer service is superb, people always smiling and willing to help. Center is clean and spacious . I love the ability to go outdoors and walk the track or simply enjoy the scenery .There are so many options to exercise / improve your physical and mental state. ( gym, swim) Really love it .

2022-02-24There isn’t a track like the ymca. I enjoyed most of the activities but refuse to visit the pool because some of the lifeguards are unprofessional and make you uncomfortable while swimming. It should be easier to cancel a membership since the location is inconvenient and the only one in Philly.

2022-01-15I so wish there were another affordable option for an indoor kids pool in the area because this place is the worst. We called the same day for pool hours and were told the kids pool was open, arrived to find the kids pool was closed, were told to go in the adult pool, then - once we were in the adult pool - were told the kids couldnt use the adult pool because they couldnt pass the swim test. The family changing rooms are all locked and youre supposed to ask staff for a key, but who knows how to find them. This isnt the first time two people have told us different things - they have so many rules, and nobody knows what they are. So frustrating. If you have other options, Id take them. If not, buyer beware.

2022-05-25Customer service is very poor and the manager is very unprofessional.. I would not pay for my children to come here. These children need role models to look up to and the way their attitude is I dont want my children copying a poor attitude from these adults.. so disappointed in this place

2022-06-14Now they’re closed on Tuesday and Saturday. This place needs new management asap. Nothing but disappointment when you walk in here.

2019-12-05I enjoy this space because of the facilities. It is a bit on the pricey end.I think its missing a few things for how much we are paying. Most importantly... I think they need to do better with the type of food theyre serving. If it is a health and fitness center, I would want options for a smoothie or something healthy. From what I see, it looks like cafeteria food or fast food and it isnt open half the time.
